The Mellotron: A Keyboard with the Power of an Orchestra (1965) | British Pathé
British T.V. personalities, Eric Robinson and David Nixon, introduce us to an electro-mechanical, polyphonic tape replay keyboard otherwise known as the 'Mellotron.'
It was adopted by rock and pop groups in the mid to late 1960s. One of the first pop songs featuring the Mellotron was Manfred Mann's "Semi-Detached, Suburban Mr. James" (1966). The Beatles used it on tracks including the hit single "Strawberry Fields Forever" (1967).
Production of the Mellotron ceased in 1986, but it regained popularity in the 1990s and was used by bands such as Oasis and Radiohead.

On this June 1, 1936, the RMS Queen Mary arrived in New York, ending her maiden voyage. Though she failed to win the Blue Riband from France's Normandie due to heavy fog, that didn't stop thousands of onlookers and swarms of harbor craft, boats, and even planes from welcoming her to the United States for the very first time.

I 😤HATE🤬 the Royal Family but I can’t help but feel kind of bad for Kate Middleton because like… yes people were being super invasive about her whereabouts and making memes but that’s all because Kensington was doing the absolute fucking worst PR I’ve ever seen in human history for literally no reason like what the fuck was that all about with the obviously heavily Photoshopped pictures 😭 And letting her take the blame for it! And now it turns out she has cancer like jeez things are Not going Miss Catherine’s way lately are they
