Ive actually been trying so hard at trying to figure out why people think qphil doesn’t care about qtubbo, and I mean specifically care nothing else. Cause you can argue tubbo’s not one of his most important people that’s fair, but also you don’t have to be at the top of a list for them to care. It’d also be really hard to argue that he doesn’t trust tubbo, and in that same vein not respect him at all. Their relationship is very complicated, and it is true that it’s way more onesided than people like to admit, but it’s not like Phil has just shown Tubbo zero attention or love. My best guess so far from all I’ve seen it’s because Phil fundamentally doesn’t understand who Tubbo is as a person, and has this very shallow view of him. So people have taken Phil’s mischaracterization of Tubbo as a sign that he doesn’t actually care for the real Tubbo? Idk I like to figure out how fandoms think… (oh also if you have your own ideas why just like tell me I’d love to know)

Also, I have made a realisation. After last chapter, I was wondering what Phil meant by ‘things he had figured out about Wilbur himself’ and Ranboo rushing off to got tell Phil what he learned about Wilbur made things click. At some point Ranboo tried getting through to Wilbur by bringing up how Tommy had been telling him about how things went on Eldingvegr and how it didn’t sound good (as in, good for Wilbur). And Ranboo would be very excited to learn things about Wilbur, especially since at that point even Phil didn’t have much of a read on Wilbur. So he definitely told Phil.

Stars!Ranboo maybe he a fictional character, but my anger is real. Great job!

ding ding ding! ranboo doesn't realize the harm he's doing you've nailed it! ranboo SHOULD know how much this impacts the brothers given everything they've been through, but he doesn't realize the true weight of it. again, not gonna go into too much detail on his motives, but yeah like I said he's not doing this with the intent to hurt them.

LMAO yup i wanted to point out why he didn't seem like a likely spy because he was just so blatant about it. but there's another layer of meta there I can't bring up in the text. it's that this is fanfic, and you as readers all have certain impressions of the characters i'm writing about. I've noticed that c!ranboo as a character is often simplified by fans into being a lot more... wholesome, than he actually is. c!ranboo canonically is very hypocritical, has no backbone, and is a people pleaser to the core. I don't like c!ranboo largely because of how the fandom has treated him in the past as being a better person than he actually is. so I wanted to use that to my advantage in stars. I knew people would believe his awkward stammering that he only wanted to be friends, and they would love seeing him talk about how much he cares for tommy because 'omg alliumduo'. and, most importantly, I knew a lot of readers would take his blunt questions as him just being socially awkward like he is in canon. it was really fun for me to play around with the meta factor of his entire character.

once you know the truth behind his actions, everything ranboo does becomes a lot more frustrating, right?

oh yeah. ranboo's whole 'trying to understand' wilbur bit was him trying to get through to him by using what tommy had told him, and he definitely told phil about that stuff too :)

So. Someone said they wished Wilbur cared a little more. There was more to the comment but that’s not important right now. Anyways, time for me to opinion all over the place

I think Wilbur does care more than we think. He just doesn’t care about what he should.

I don’t know much about him yet, but he seems to be going through that thing where he has been restricted all his life so now he’s treating life experience like Pokémon cards. It’s a classic thing a lot of kids go through and it has two usual outcomes. Either the kid never wants to venture out and will do exactly what they were taught growing up, following the lifestyle to an extreme, or they will absolutely go bat shit the second they get freedom.

Like when a kid isn’t allowed soda their entire life and when they get older they are either repulsed by the drink or start only drinking soda for a long period of time.

It also doesn’t help that Phil feels bad. Phil has sympathy because Wilbur just wants to be a normal teenager, and when he was that age that’s all he wanted. It also doesn’t help that Wilbur is very intent on getting what he wants. There isn’t a lot of wiggle room. Wilbur seems to have a general idea of how to get Phil to agree. And if he doesn’t see a pattern yet, it’s not gonna take him long to figure out what works.

Honestly, it would be beneficial if Phil cracked down in the parental way, not the “it’s your destiny” way. Wilbur needs to be prevented from whatever messy spiral he’s about to go down, but he needs to be allowed to have a life.

Right now all Wilbur really cares about is himself and that’s because this is the first time he’s allowed to. At the boarding school he was taught things he didn’t care about. He had to follow rules that forced him to adhere to a set of guidelines. He was taught that he wasn’t priority. He has been told his entire life that his destiny isn’t about him, it’s about someone else. So it’s no wonder he wants to fuck off and do what he wants.

In the initial comment that provoked this, they also said they feel like something is gonna happen to someone he loves that will force him to care

And I already see it happening. Even though he wanted to go to that house party and didn’t care about anyone else, he still had enough of a heart to remind himself that Ranboo had it worse. Maybe that’s not the best way to think about it, but at least he’s still thinking about it.

I think once he gets to know Tommy things are going to get harder for him. Because it’s going to be the battle between wanting to benefit himself or helping the person who actually needs it.

I’ll definitely have more to add on this in the future, but for now this is what I’ve got.

Techno and Philza sit outside the cabins after the surprise birthday party. Ranboo is fast asleep and Niki went home as soon as she found out about Wilbur. It’s night and it’s dark, but the stars faintly illuminate the place.

Philza: We really fucked up, huh.

They nonchalantly sit on top of the thick layer of snow that covers the whole place. The cold doesn’t seem to bother Techno. Phil got used to accompany him, even if he still has his limits.

Techno: Yeah.

Philza: Fuck.

Techno: I hope Niki understands. But I’m not sure there’s anything to understand at all.

Another note on the SBI family relationships (or lack thereof)

I think people might be underestimating how quickly you can bond with people when fighting an underground guerilla war against an oppressive force together.

And to me that's how their canon relationships seem to develop, I mean particularly between Techno and Wilbur&Tommy. Early on they seem to know each other vaguely from some earlier context (which could just be that Techno is Phil's old war buddy and Wilbur at least is still Phil's son, so yeah it would make sense for Wilbur to know Techno) but they don't really trust each other, or at least Wilbur doesn't trust Techno while Tommy wants to trust him but is a bit hesitant and immediately starts questioning him when Tubbo suggests that he might be a spy. And Techno sets up a separate secret base for himself, just in case, so he isn't entirely trusting either.

But after a while they get used to working together and start to rely on each other more and just generally all the distrust just kind of fades away. Wilbur and Techno develop a friendship based on mutual respect, Techno and Tommy become pretty much like actual brothers. Tubbo and Techno maybe less so but they get to know each other through Tommy. And by the festival they've gotten to a point where they can't even imagine any of them betraying each other which is why the whole execution thing hits so hard. Tommy and Wilbur didn't even consider messaging Techno, they thought for sure that he would never kill Tubbo even if pressured to.

And Techno has gone from only caring about the cause to actually showing affection towards his comrades. I mean it's not very obvious but in contrast to how he was earlier it's a huge difference, IMO. The way he apologises to Tubbo before taking the shot (even though he does take it), the way he stops as he's escaping to look for Tommy who's fallen behind (even though he decides that it's a lost cause and runs anyway) and the way he goes back to shield Wilbur.

And it's a small thing but the way he goes "are you sure you wanna do this, Tommy?" in the pit before they fight.

Aaand that's why it's honestly so painful watching them fall apart after the festival. Techno and Tommy especially, they'd become so close but Tommy loses his trust in Techno and Techno kinda retreats into his edgelord persona and bonds with Wilbur over blowing shit up instead. (And I do think this is at least partly a reaction to his falling out with Tommy btw, or at least I choose to read it that way.)

And it's even more painful after Nov 16th when it turns out they were never all on the same side to begin with.

But it's not like they can just stop caring about each other now. They fought together, survived together, took care of each other, even had fun while doing all that. It was them against the world for a fair while. Of course they still feel that connection. Of course they'd feel almost like a family.

And anybody saying that them not being related means they wouldn't care about each other... come ON, man

I fell like Tommy came out looking just a bit to pretty sooo I’m going to make up for that byyyyyy making ANOTHER IDEA😃

Tommy takes care of the garden but he want’s some decorations, so what better way to decorate a garden than status! This begins Tommy's unstoppable work of making the perfect statue.

Tommy spends about one or two months on this, with absolutely no brakes, when finally he's done! The statue looks solo real! In fact it looks as if an actual angle fell from heaven and became stone, just an angle kid! Tommy ends up getting attached to this statue the spent so much time on that he decides to add something extra!

Tommy heads to the garden and finds the most beautiful flower, it's bright green on the center with petals of magenta and windage blue, mixed with bits of lavender and bright purple, Tommy makes sure to leave a don't/offering for snowchester and only picks up the flower once the gifts disappear.

Now with the statue holding the flower in it's tiny, almost flawless hands, Tommy leaves and heads to bed for the night.

The next morning there is no statue in sight but a little girl, younger than Michale, looks at him with big blue, Rosie checks, Light blond hair, pure white wing on her back and a little halo shining golden light. The angle reaches out her hands and calls Tommy ‘dad!’

Tommy completely fails to notice the transparent wings on his back, or the multicolored halo on his head.

The blond girl becomes Tommyinnits daughter, Clemetine goddess of life. Tommy becomes the keeper of life, Creation, still Tommy, he’s just far more intun with life, and can seamlessly create anything.

Btw Tommy totally ran to purples house with clementine in a complete mess just to figure out what the fuck was going on, once he wasn't freaking out and being well Tommy, they figured things out and mostly everything stays as it normally would!

Well as normally at it’ll be getting!

I like a lot of things about this!

Tommy wanting more decorations for the garden? Cool. What else does he had to that hauntingly beautiful vibe his greenhouse has?

And I’m really interested in the whole offering for Snowchester thing. Snowchester doesn’t really require them, but it’s certainly a nice way to say thank you, so everyone in the town leaves some small sort of gift out for it once in awhile. The only one who never has is Tubbo, unaware of it’s sentience-but it will never want for anything for him, when he already pours so much love into it’s land with each day. As long as his heart beats in time with it’s own, Snowchester will be content.

The flower sounds very pretty too. If Tommy’s the one who grew it, he probably wouldn’t need Snowchester’s approval to pick it-the greenhouse is his place after all, and though it may reside on it’s land, it respects Tommy’s space. and knows that he trust it to protect this place for him. Maybe he was just saying thank you for keeping watch over Tubbo while he was so invested in the statue.

His statue becoming a real person? Absolutely amazing. I love that. Clementine deserves a place in Snowchester. Michael declares himself her older brother, and the two kids can often be seen laughing around Snowchester, safe within it’s grounds. Clementine more often than not has flowers in her hair, and her little wings blend in with the sparkling snow.

I do feel like Tommy being Creation is a touch overpowered, especially with him already having his ghost/phantom abilities. I kind of want the kids to be a bit nerfed power wise, if only because they live next to literal deities. 

But that doesn’t mean it can’t happen. Maybe not now, but in a far, far future, where Snowchester is but a legend of the SMP, and it’s inhabitants have long since become more, coming into power written in myths.

An End King, and his husband, the Ambassador to all. The ruler of the end, and the immortal who understands the words of everyone and everything, and is equally heard in turn. 

A long lived assassin, said to speak to the dead and weave spells and potions as fatal as his blade. 

And a young deity, who creates something from almost nothing(a shattered piece of a soul made new, lingering despair made into powerful hope, ect), a specific creaition, with the iridescent, shattered pieces of a halo floating above his head, and bearing ghostly wings on his back. 

So, alternatively for Clementine’s creation, maybe it’s a similar scene to Snowchester’s awakening, with a mix of some magic. Maybe it’s partly to do with the lingering revival magic on Tommy, his growing care for both the statue and his already powerful bond with his garden(perhaps similarly becoming sentient to Snowchester, if a bit less), and something to do with that beautiful flower you described. 

Tommy sets it into the statue’s hand with gentle care and tired fondness, finally going to sleep-he may not need as much, but he’s definitely pushed himself to the limit these weeks. 

He passes out at Purpled’s house, and in the morning, takes him to see the statue-imagine their shock when a little girl sits sleeping in the garden instead, unbothered by even the more snappy plants, and immediately calls Tommy ‘dad’ upon waking up.

The two spent a moment having a silent conversation(read:panic), before bolting to Tubbo’s house with the girl in Tommy’s arms to bang on his door until he opens it so he can help-after all, he’s the parent here. 

After a lot of confusion, and shouting, everyone eventually settles down with hot chocolate in Town Square, and introduce Clementine to the other residents of Snowchester. Michael takes to her immediately. Puffy offers to babysit. 

Hilariously enough, nobody outside the town thinks Clementine’s the slightest bit strange, despite the fact that she literally appeared from nowhere. They’re all convinced Tommy just grabbed a kid off the street-he’s picked up some of Phil’s habits, they decide, oblivious to the way the flora reaches out for the child, and how her wings are whiter than any avian they’ve ever seen. 

She’s just a kid, no more, no less.

Some Apsects Hcs, According to Opacifica’s narrative aspect theory

So I’d like to apologize,

This is the theory essay in question btw. You don’t have to read it as I’m putting the laconic meaning in every hcs anyway, but it gives a bit more insight and is just a cool read

Tommy: Blood (Answers can be found in the way we relate to what came before.): his character arc is defined by his bonds, to Wilbur, to Tubbo, to “what L’manberg used to be”. Also bc Blood players are the spotlight type who gets chewed up by the narrative to do their job

Tubbo: Hope (The growth of the false, unnatural, and counter-to-narrative.): this was primarily bc of the Dreamon, and Tubbo’s tendencies to make up random things that doesn’t matter in the main narrative, but adds a lot to the story

Wilbur: Space (The organized path the narrative takes as it grows.): he’s the DM so of course he’s the planner, and despite the corruption arc, he still created most of what the story is about (the van, the country, the declaration, ect). Also likely to get mouthpiece’d by the plot

Techno: Heart (My answer to the question is the only one that matters to me.): he’s been forging his own narrative the entire time you bet he’s deciding what *his* story is about. And it’s about him

Dream and George: Doom (The tendency towards inertia and endings.): Dream bc he’s always been the BBEG, the looming threat of destruction. George bc his thing is never being around for big events, which doesn’t add to the narrative, and highlights his inert role

Quackity: Mind (My answer to the question doesn’t matter at all in the scheme of things.): if you watch the smp from his pov it has a lot more side plots and shenanigans than the others. He’s just vibing, man, the story is just one of the things he can do here

Schlatt: Time (The organized path the narrative takes to its ending.): his character’s every move is scripted. He’s ultimately there to serve the narrative, not interpret it

Fundy: Light (There’s one true answer to every question.): He’s been trying to get Wilbur to cut the bullshit since day one, been focused on doing his purpose justice, even if it means fucking up everything else

Eret: Void: (There’s no single true answer to any question.): They’re, as Wilbur explained on the alignment chart, an opportunist who follows whoever can give them what they want. The story Does Not Matter, only the crown

Season 2 players:

Ghostbur: Rage (The termination of the false, unnatural, and counter-to-narrative.): he’s been forgetting anything that doesn’t fit his happy idyllic narrative, and his role is going against the arc; he’s very loving and caring while Dream insists that no one gives a fuck ab Tommy

Phil: Hope (The growth of the false, unnatural, and counter-to-narrative.): his role is similar to Ghostbur in that he doesn’t serve a plot important role rn, but he’s making it very hard to tell a short story

the problems come up when you attack other people for their perspectives on the medium or spread misinformation about different characters based on only watching the perspective you like, but you know - if you’re not doing analysis, you really don’t need to look that deep into it.

i mean... we're not trying to - being against punitive justice is about the fact punishment is wrong, not just certain types of it. asking me what a "fitting punishment" would be is sort of very not getting the point.

hurting people further is not going to teach them anything and it’s not going to help anyone, why is it necessary?

so the answer is: none. he shouldn’t be punished, actually! he should learn on his own that what he did wasn’t right, and that’s about it. that’s the thing about transformative justice. him becoming a better person who Wouldn’t Do That again because it goes against who he is.

however, there’s also restorative justice, which is working to “make it up” to the victims. to which i propose; dream has the revival book and could literally bring him back once he is out of the prison. give him some powder maybe. md would probably be chill w/ that.

Yknow. In all my time in dsmpblr i can confidently say that the main differnece between c!dream apologist/enthusiants and c!wilbur/sam ones is that the c!wilbur/c!sam ones want their fav to have a breakdown and c!dream ones want theirs to get positive reinforcement /hj /lh

no i’m - i’m pretty sure that’s just how it works. dream still owns the smp, but he himself has said wayy back at the beginning “everyone can build and go wherever they want” and that was that. it was one of his rules on the smp, it was his main problem with l’manberg. being able to build anywhere were the rules that he “had the right” to enforce. and he did, not because he was a god, but because it was his smp, his home that he claimed for his friends. wouldn’t call it a big debate, it’s really that simple.

wilbur wanted end all his unfinished symphonies and as the person who raised tommy- he raised him like he raised l'manberg. he doesnt care for fundy- not since he denounced him- so he wanted to end him :)

There's no way to fix what's been lost. No way to apologize to who Tommy used to be, to try and make it better. None of them every bothered to see him as anything more than a nuisance, an annoying child or cannon fodder and they'll regret it for the rest of their lives everyone: having a mental crisis toast: GUYYYYSS!! I MADE ANOTHER FRIEND!!!

"Wilby?" Wilbur heard Tommys voice say in an innocent tone.

Was he hearing things? Tommy's dead. He killed him himself.

"Wilby why are you in prison?" The image of his little brother asked, "Did you commit arson without me?" it asked in a pout.

"TOMMY!" Tubbo yelled running into the cell where Wilbur was kept, going through the bars with ease, "Tommy get away from him!"

"But 'ubbo!!!! Wilby is 'ere!!!!" Tommy (?) said with a smile Wilbur hadn't seen since Tommy was a child.

"Tommy, I understand you don't remember anything right now but you need to come back over here!" Tubbo demanded and Tommy flinched

the first time toast sees the crater toast srceams in intense amount of pain- its so loud you can hear it all over the smp- and just dissapears for a few days before reappearing with no memories of what happened toast saying things tommy thought but never said- he calls eret "big brother" and eret fucking d i e s toast cals all the l'manbergians older siblings He's far too honest for anyone to handle tommy was always honest too but he learned from experince that honesty only lead to hurt Tommy was like an enderchest, you could never see beyond the exterior, everything inside was exclusive to him and him alone Toast is like when someone dies and all their fuckin items explode onto the ground. you just see everything and most of it was  pain and everyone feels bad because they thought he was the only one uneffected that nothing had ever put a damper on his happiness and energetic smile- at what point had that smile became fake? also for angst reasons the last memory toast has is before the elections toast has uwu boy vibes but more chaotic toast goes to dream smp from logstedshire purely for sam nook toast starts making his hotel since he sees nobody has a home (including dream LMAO) (and he wants to make a safe place since everyone keeps saying something about war) and wants to make one and asks sam for help since apparently hes good at building and sam lets him pay after he finishs the hotel and sam nook is there since day one because i dont think i could handle a world without sam nook toast: biting everyone tubbo: wHY DO YOU DO THAT?????? toast: once techie bit all the cupcakes and then said it was his cuz he bit it so im biting everyone to show their mine!!!!! tubbo: i- tubbo: i am both flattered and disgusted everyone, remembering how tommy used to bite everyone upon meeting and then everyone would get mad at him and yell at him until he stopped biting people on meeting: sadly whips and nae naes hes a BABY toast deserves the fucking world also i havent talked ab it but there is wilbur and fundy angst here fundy confronts wilbur also not that fundy is angry about not not not getting murdered by his father but also why does he consider tommy his unfinished sympohny and not him? he raised fundy too- maybe he just only ever loved tommy (based off his insecurity of how close wilbur and tommy are based off wilbur raising tommy and wilbur only being there for fundy by the time he was older and also using hybrid age go nyoom for this dream manipulates toast during wilburs exile along with wilbur and toast realizes both of them were being used by him and fucking screams lourder than he ever has before and dissapears for a week and then shows up at technos house (he got lost and he didnt know why he was at logsted shire- he doesnt remember the place) on the day of the excution and tries to help technoblade but keeps forgetting that everyone is trying to kill techno the butcher army is hesitant when "hey why are you all attacking big brother Techy-" "HE SPAWNED WITHERS IN L'MANBERG!" "he did?" toast asked tilting his head in confusion "YES! HE DID! AFTER YOU DIED! NOW WHERE IS HE TOAST! WE NEED TO CAPTURE HIM!" whenever tubbo talks ab how theyre planning on excuting techno or how there was no trial toast has flashbacks to tubbos excution but hes never able to hold on to the memories just leaving him feeling bad toast sees anything traumatic and just makes the blue screen noise toast has to reboot every time anything truamatic happens and when he does he doesnt remember what happens after

toast hurts on a "THE FUCKING IMPLICATIONS OF THIS" level just.. everyone trying to make up for not noticing tommys hurt and trying to be good to toast when its already too late... far too late glatt is also here because whenever ytoast dissapears after something trauamtic he bounces back to the land of the dead for the bit and sometimes he drags glatt out to the land of the living with him only works bc toast has unfinished buisness so he can freely go between and just stays in the land of the lving until he can finish his unfiinshed buisness ghostbur and toast wouldve been good friends if they ever met anyone yells at toast and he immeditly starts sobbing

basically when everything is calm and peaceful and everyone is happy together after dream is in prison and toast is like "oh... this is what ive always wanted"

"toast?" tubbo asked, confused toast smiled softly, "i think its time for me to go" "what?" wilbur asked his pitch unusually high due to the fear lacing his voice "i think... i think this was my unfinished buisness... this is the last thing i wanted when i was alive, the reason i stayed... i think its finally my time to go now" toast said smiling tearfully "no! you vcan't go! we just got you back!"

basically when everything is finally ok, when things finally calm down toast fades back to the void/afterlife thing
