The MV was filmed in Hungary., in an abandoned plant, Kelenföldi erőmű, and on the Hungaroring racetrack (src).

The female character is played by Pasha Harulia (Instagram).

Tanu Muiño, the MV director, explained in an Instagram post that the MV is inspired by the story of Romeo and Juliet. Several fans noticed similarities between the MV and the movie Romeo + Juliet. Baz Luhrmann, director of the movie, himself acknowledged the inspiration. You can refer to Lyna's thread for a more complete analysis.

The background is decorated with graffiti and posters referencing both Romeo + Juliet and the lyrics.

The limousines all have the same type of plate, from X001 to X014.

That's a unique to Critical Role sort of pre-show that you don't see many other places do. It was fun, man. It's like the wild, wild west! Like, they just threw stuff at me. there is something so precious (as in beautifully rare) about the way Zerxus treats Asmodeus. yes i understand that canonically Asmodeus is a Capital M Manipulator and that this is likely still canon in Exandrian lore, but what a brilliant way to show that Zerxus' compassion is literally limitless.

is it worth losing your humanity just to spare yourself the shame of others calling you stupid for your kindness?

i love how much love they're animating into vax. that was a character that so many people underestimated and just tagged as 'sad boi' because of how his story ends but so few remembered how full of warmth and charm and softness vax was. he was goofy and protective and wanted the best for his sister and fell a little bit in love with every person he met. i'm so happy i can still see that in the animation version of him.

I've always thought your style of writing is really different from what I think of as "standard" fanfic prose (in a really cool way, to be clear)- so I guess my question is how would you describe your writing style and what do you like about it?

In terms of cadence and syntax and such, I've been told that it's poetic a fair amount of times, so I'll just nod along with that because fun word combos make my brain go brrr and I've gathered that's some of what poetry is about :D

In terms of overarching structure though, I consider my style largely modeled after the CR transcripts, but the dialogue's then fluffed between with narration and blank space to describe things like facial expressions, tone, character thoughts/emotions, and pauses of time dilation that the transcripts don't always capture!

So I guess 'transcript-esque narrative poetry' is the closest approximation of how I would describe it xD

I really like that by adding lots of space, I can put to the page how the duration of events in my fics feels to me, and I hope that sort of a feeling is conveyed when reading, though I've heard big spacing might be annoying to read since it's ''''nothing'''' xD but what's the use of me (me, Chanse, in my writing specifically) writing/posting in an online medium (AO3) if I don't take advantage of the medium's scrolling capabilities and use them for my own storytelling purposes? A rest is as just much of a part of a song as a played note is! :3

I also like the fun transcript -> fic conversions I've built up, and some small- and large-scale examples:

small-

I generally don't use dialogue tags like ["I don't know what to say here," they mumble, shuffling from foot to foot.] because that reads so much more like prose, rather than transcript dialogue, and my punctuation in general originally stemmed from the transcripts.

Like when someone is cut off, they get a double hyphen:

MATT "I'm afraid you're sneezing mid-sentence. "I'm not catching the final--" TRAVIS: (loudly) The Balleater. - C2 Ep 97

but formatted a little more prose-y like so:

“Verin--” “No, don’t argue with me about it. My mind is set.” - So Brother, Walk with Me

large-

In the transcripts, scene description of brand new locations tends to come in big ol' word picture chunks before giving way to a bulk of RP or battle action, so we get stuff like Matt's description of Mythburrow in Ep 74 that I try matching with things like the intro to Like a Diamond to the Rough (albeit a little more spaced out so it's easier to read).

Matt often describes settings like characters too (with purpose beyond being a backdrop), and with a variety of senses when applicable, so that's also something I like and try to keep in mind as well :3

C'mon. Give me a breather please. (Normally CR Xitter that I follow is pretty good about not having many spoilers. They weren't holding back on this one, unfortunately)

'Maybe you and I are both damned, but we can choose to do something and leave it better than it was before.' This moment in ep 97 lives rent free in my mind forever, and I've been wanting to draw it ever since I first watched it live. I have so many feelings about these two, and their relationship over the course of the campaign (and beyond) means so much to me. While not yet fulfilled or entirely convinced of his own worth, at this point in the story, Caleb knows he’s on the right path. That alone is progress enough, but that he uses his own experiences to help another escape those same chains of guilt says such a lot for his development. When he tells Essek that his ‘venom’ was learned, he’s also talking about himself and his own history of being manipulated and gaslit, with the implication being that it can be un-learned just as efficiently. Essek describes himself as selfish and as a coward, forever putting his own wants and desires first, yet over the course of his journey with the Nein we see his priorities change drastically. Having friends gives him people to care about, something he’s never had before, and it changes his outlook on life completely.

I think it says so much about the other characters too, that they befriended this person they barely knew, and when he was revealed to have done such terrible things, their first reaction was to give him comfort and an opportunity to atone. Jester held his hand while he confessed, and afterwards, while they didn’t immediately forgive him, they saw the good in him and wanted him to be better, which ultimately feels like what the entire campaign was about, leaving places (and people) better than they found them.

They began their adventure wholeheartedly believing that they were both, in their own way incapable of love. But, in the end, no matter how damaged and guilt-stricken they were, they found in each other a kindred spirit, a path to redemption, and ultimately, love. Whether their relationship lasted for a couple of years or multiple decades is irrelevant, what matters is that while it did they had a happy and fulfilled life together. (tl;dr I just bloody love these two wizards you guys. T.T) Anyway, I finally decided to paint this scene earlier in the week, using my newfound favourite website Magic Poser Web to set up their poses for reference, then drew everything in Clip Studio Paint. I'm not 100% happy with some of it, ad the background isn't as I imagined it to be when I watched the stream, but it's close enough that I'm satisfied!

Anne had not let go.

Sasha had tried to pry her fingers from Anne’s trembling grasp, tears falling down a dizzying height, the same abyss that had threatened to claim the both of them.

But while Sasha had seemed to accept her fate, Anne’s heart had been stabbed by the fragment of possibility of living in a world with no Sasha, and she had not. Let. Go.

Now Sasha was sitting on a piece of rubble, a piece of uneven stones which had once been a turret of Toad Tower. She tried to make herself small, softly grieving the friends she had lost to the splitting chasm as the Toad Army marched away.

Anne didn’t think she’d live to see the day Sasha Waybright looked small. It was like a lioness mimicking a frightened, beaten kitten who had just almost been drowned.

Anne approached and dropped to her knees on the ground in front of her. She reached out and held Sasha’s face cupped between her hands, forcing her to meet her gaze.

“Sasha,” she whispered as the girl continued to stare at her lap. Sasha tentatively looked up, and the depth of emotion glittering in her features made Anne shudder for a second. Those sky-blue eyes were clinging to a story of guilt and remorse, and pride was all that kept her from shattering. “I’m not better off without you.”

Sasha didn’t lower her gaze again, lost in the depth of her own visage she saw reflected in Anne’s eyes. Anne did not doubt she felt the same magnetism locking their eyes together in a contest of compassion versus shame.

“I’m not like you, Anne,” Sasha whispered, her voice strained. “I look into the face of happiness and spit at it because I don’t like the way it smiles. There is no redemption, because I don’t feel remorse.”

It was a lie. Why did you almost let go, then? Anne did not ask. Why would you put me above yourself? You are good, Sasha.

Instead, she smiled.

“If I think about the person I was when I first arrived in Amphibia, I don’t feel proud. But the Plantars, Wartwood… These people changed me. These people can change you.” She leaned in, letting her crown rest against Sasha’s forehead in a gentle and soft headbutt. “You were not born with venom in your veins,” she said softly. “You learned it.” Sasha huffed a quiet laugh, but Anne held on, refusing to sever the connection she was forging. “You learned it,” she repeated.

A sudden sob rattled in her friend’s chest. Anne swallowed. Which road was the right one? How would they pave a path when they had no blueprints, nothing to guide them on their way?

“You have a rare opportunity here, Sash,” she said, because they would start this road together, even if they couldn’t see past the shrouding mists of uncertainty. “One chance to save yourself. And we are offering it.” She moved back to look at Sasha again, their faces mere inches away from each other. “I’m pleading with you to find your better self. She is still there.”

“How can you still think so highly of me after all I’ve done?”

Anne leaned in again, pressing a feather-light kiss to Sasha’s forehead.

“Because I know that together, we can leave this place better than it was before.”

Because I love you, Sasha.

Those weren’t the words Sasha could bear to hear. They weren’t the words Anne could even say, the events of the day still too fresh in her mind.

But time would pass, and it would heal.

And so would they.
