“I’m sorry.
I don’t know why I’m crying.”
Tumblr media
Zelda bottles up her emotions so very tightly, winds them into little taunt balls, but they do not disappear just because she pushes them away.
Eventually, the ball breaks.
Eventually, the tears come out, even if there’s nothing to cry about in that particular moment.
She hides herself away when she can.
But when she can’t…

Work in progress Carrd A small peak into the characters who will be available here and their portrayals—
King Rhoam—
He is noble, authoritative, domineering, welcoming to friendly strangers, loves a pun, loves his daughter and his kingdom but is a King before a Father, forever a widow who is still in love with his late Queen, a rather brilliant military strategist. Once his mind is set on something you’re unlikely to change it. He is honorable but ruthless.
Hylia—
She is a Goddess with a Divine Love and Divine Wrath. To those under Her protection, She is endlessly forgiving and Her love is never ending, but She will allow you to suffer if it’s for the greater good or if it impedes on free will. Verses include her time walking as a Goddess in Borrowed Flesh before the war, during which She is curious and in the midst of learning human emotions, and post-war in which She is the lingering remains of divinity that cannot be destroyed. She sees all that has been and will be, but is not omnipotent.
Astor—
He is a manipulative and power-hungry narcissist. As such, he can be quite charismatic and is very adept at reading people, gauging their wants and fears with fearsome accuracy, a talent which he will always use to his advantage. He severely lacks empathy and is not bothered by violence, though he prefers to keep his own hands clean.
Revali—
He is hardworking, determined, and ambitious. His confidence borderlines cocky but not without good reason. He will work himself through blood, sweat and tears to reach his goals. He is easily threatened, however, and does not hold back his thoughts. He takes well to flattery, but offend him and he may hold a grudge for life. He respects Zelda as the Princess of Hyrule and as his ticket to a legacy, something which is of the utmost importance to him.
Ganondorf—
He is a man of complexities and righteous anger. Much like how Zelda is made of Hylia, Ganondorf is made of Demise, and has the inklings of Godhood in him. His Divine Wrath can consume him, but often it fuels him towards impossible goals with reckless abandon. He demands respect, obedience, and competence, and is easily offended by the lack of any of these qualities. At his best, he is a fearsome leader who will be the monster necessary to protect his own. At his worst, he is blind by his own ambition and thirst for power, and loses sight of those he once fought to protect, sacrificing even them to obtain what he wants.
Queen Sonia—
She is the first Queen of Hyrule, and plays the game of political chess with an easy smile. She is an intuitive and compassionate Queen, but she is able to shelve her emotions to do what she believes is best as a leader. She is willing to manipulate in her relationships, but rarely out of malice—rather, she is nudging the players upon her board to where they will best serve the kingdom. She did not love her husband when they wed, but has since fallen very much in love with him. They share one child together who is an infant at the time of her death.
Additional characters to be added:
The God Demise
The Hero Link

A key problem I’ve seen bandied about over and over is that Y’sthola doesn’t have a “character arc” and that she is a very static character--she has no growth because she essentially came in without any flaws that could be fixed over time in the narrative.
Characters don’t need flaws to be good characters. But in the absence of flaws, what they do need is organic motivation. Y’sthola ostensibly has a motivation: she loves knowledge and wants to learn more to sate her own desire for information about the world. She’s literally a ham-fisted “curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back” metaphor.
The problem with this motivation is that no reason has ever been given for it. Why is she so driven to pursue knowledge? What made her choose this path? What events in her life led her to this specific course, when we meet her sister who behaves in a totally different (read as: much less self-sacrificial) way? What made her leave her family to study with Matoya and then leave Matoya to join the scions?
At her core, Y’shtola is characterized by her lack of prevailing connections. She has essentially no backstory other than “has a sister and studied with Matoya.”She has a family but never spends time with them. She loves Matoya, clearly, but still made the choice to leave her to join with Louisoix. Why? Although she’s friendly to all the scions, she still isn’t given any of the truly personal relationships that mark the other scions’ stories--she doesn’t have a Papalymo, a Minfillia, or a Moenbryda to truly “humanize” her; Matoya is the closest, and Matoya is a side character at most.
To be honest, I don’t care about learning a ton more about Y’sthola’s search for knowledge. It’s a typical and, in her case, criminally under-developed motivation. What I do care about is why, surrounded by so many opportunities to connect, she remains quintessentially a stray cat.
It seems to me that Y’shtola’s story would be much more interesting if it was not about this or that arcane magic she can learn to advance the plot, but instead about the deep and personal struggle between individual desire--endless pursuit of knowledge to sate one’s own curiosity--and the abiding desire to belong to others, to forge meaningful connections even if that sometimes means giving up on some of your personal, lone pursuits.
If you are never satisfied, can you ever settle?
Y’sthola’s "character arc” shouldn’t be about intelligence. It should be about wisdom: the discovery that the road to enlightenment might actually be the road that leads you home.

In later years, Urianger is not prepared for how messy and dirty his little girls are. Dirty footprints coming inside from the back door. He is baffled at how grass stained their clothes are when it's his turn to do the laundry. He catches them making "potions" in the gardening bucket with dirt, grass, and rainwater. They keep trying to sneak frogs inside their pockets. Washing up for dinner is far more involved than just washing their hands. And why don't they ever wear shoes when they go outside?!
Urianger doesn't understand it because he was a quiet clean boy who stayed inside and read books.
Beetle understands it because she was exactly the same way as a girl.

Confession time (?)
I am obsessed with MMD videos on YT.
Like, I often find one I really like, and I'll watch it over and over (and over) again for the sheer joy it gives me. But other times, a video will really stick with me and give me Thoughts and Ideas.
I completely get that these videos rely on existing motion/choreography from an existing video, and sometimes that choreography doesn't work for all of the characters (does Idia being OOC in the Butter MMD make me appreciate how spot-on Cater and Lilia are in the same video any less? Hell, no. Cater and Lilia are absolutely the stars of that one.)
But this one. This one. This is probably the most on-the-nose video for Silver and Sebek. Like, this is the one I am most obsessed over.
I don't even know where to start, so my thoughts will be all over the place.
I think Silver and Sebek are chosen perfectly in their respective roles. Silver is more fluid at times, and that makes me think of how he bests Sebek in most of their battles. They both trained in swordsmanship and martial arts under Lilia (still love that Silver's talent is swordsmanship and Sebek's is martial arts, and that both their strengths are things that they both have trained in together).
We know how incredibly strong Sebek is. This is the guy who did all the woodchopping in Harveston. The guy who carried a cotton candy machine to Idia's food stall to have it repaired. The guy who fetched a lanternblossom from a sheer cliff, using only his own strength and no gear, and was able to because Lilia made climb a cliff 10 times a day for three months.
That Sebek.
And yet Silver still bests him more often than not.
So the video had me thinking that, similar to how Vil easily threw Floyd in Camp Vargas, Silver uses more than his physical strength (and we know that he is physically very strong - even before his broomquet interview). I mean, you know that with all the time he and Sebek have spent training together, he can read Sebek, and probably knows what Sebek is going to do before Sebek does it.
But the idea of Silver being more fluid and flexible and using that to his advantage is also, well, kinda sexy, too.
Places in this video that I'm particularly obsessed with is any time the video "zooms in" on their feet (like at 0:34 in the video. Or 1:24. Or 1:53). I don't know what it is about that. The way they move together? The way they are headed in the same direction, or move in sync? I mean, I can see that without focusing on their feet, but there is just something about seeing their feet, I don't know what it is.
(Already have this thing about hands, where one character is touching the other, or they are clasping hands, or one is touching the other's hair. Now it's the way they step together, apparently.)
Side note on their shoes: I just love that Silver wears fucking loafers - something he can slip on easily when he oversleeps, where Sebek wears what looks like a low boot, with the pants covering the tops of them - very sleek looking, very in line with the pains he takes to look his best.
Other spots that make me, for lack of a better term, squee, occur at 1:43, immediately followed by linking arms at 1:50 (and into the shoes again at 1:53). And being back to back at 2:44.
Yeah, I totally get why someone would see that original video and immediately think "Silbek."
Finally, and this must be taken with the veriest grain of salt, because I am 100% relying on the internet and google translate, but I wanted to know the title and lyrics for the song.
And found this explanation which just feels so Silbek to me.

Heart-shaped face, a small red strawberry mark under her right eye. Delicate features, like mine, but there’s nothing delicate about this girl. There’s a fierceness in her steel-gray eyes. Her dark hair is shorn close to her scalp.

If someone is talking, and they are interrupted/talked over/ignored, Zelda is always the person to turn to them and say, “Go on.”
Tumblr media
She knows that feeling all too well. It’s a very common move in court when one is unliked to “politely steer” the conversation away from them. It’s one of the ways their social circle implements their form of social outcasting—of which Zelda experiences first hand.

The Goddesses Creations
DEMISE
Make Him of fire and darkness. Give Him Power that He might wield His strength against any God who dare threaten this plane. Give Him a presence so fierce that lesser beings do not approach. Make Him the Protector and the Executioner. Make Him Death. Make Him ruthless and determined and focused and immovable. Give Him the traits of Gods: anger and envy and possession. Name Him Demise.
HYLIA
Make Her of fire and light. Give her Wisdom that She might lead this plane into a fruitful existence. Give Her sight to see all that is and all that will be for the living of this plane. Make Her the Protector and the Shepard. Make Her Life. Make Her loving and gracious and enduring and curious. Give Her the traits of Gods: anger and envy and vanity. Name Her Hylia.

i feel like don doesn’t do clubs anymore as he’s a lil older and the crowds to young for him to feel connected and the musics weird to him. He’s not into techno but he goes every once in a while with some begging on nick part and ends up getting high and sitting in the bathroom talking about philosophy with some random drunk person and or with nicks just taking pictures the entire time and laying on the couch listening to music.
