#Christopher Herrmann x Cindy Herrmann
Text
Thinking about that joke when Person A is like, "That's my ex-boyfriend." and Person B is all *big sigh, muttering about how they need to stop saying that* "Hi. I'm their husband." (Obv, tweak to whichever gender best applies.)
Just for fun: Who would do that in your favourite ships? Who's Person A and who's Person B? Reblog and put it in the tags!

@storminmyveins continued from X
He was always the idyllic and compassionate father-figure in Dawson's book. Christopher Herrmann was sentimental, kind, and attentive to his family. She had noticed the stark contrast to her OWN father almost immediately, for he was damn-near the exact opposite. Her own father was a wanton lush who walked out on her family at every opportunity to do so. So, when she denoted the expression, she KNEW she had to pry.
Tumblr media
Casting aside the burdens of the latest call, she slunks down on the cot next to his. "College? Already?" Dawson unleashes a small, amused whistle. She was going to tack on a joke about Herrman's age, but this once, she refrains. "So? How are you and Cindy taking it? Does he have his options picked out?" She's genuinely interested in the venture.
She nods, having once felt that way about Louie before he was ripped from her life. "Oh, come on, Herrmann, next thing you know Lee Henry will be passing you and Cindy grandbabies." Gabby remarks, as if, he wasn't already anxious enough about the passage of time. This time, it is annunciated teasingly.
At his inquiry, she nods. "Tell you what, why don't you let Sylvie and I babysit. You can take Cindy to the nicest place in town. I'm sure you guys could use the break".

Thoughts: Sylvie Brett and Cindy Herrmann are actually really similar characters... 💭
Tumblr media
I've noticed over the years, watching the show, that there are so many similarities between Herrmann's wife and Sylvie.
1. They're both happy, positive, loving, optimistic, and understanding people.
Cindy: Cindy is sweet, caring, loving, and supportive. With an unbridled faith and positivity, she is one of the best characters because she understands, respects, and loves Herrmann unconditionally for who he is. She also trusts and supports him implicitly. When Herrmann was bouncing between entrepreneurial ideas and meeting with different people in Season 1, for example, the minute he said (paraphrased), "I know we've invested in this, but I just don't think this is the right guy," all she said was, "If you don't think he's the right fit, then he's not the right fit." 👇
Tumblr media
Sylvie: Sylvie sees, respects, and loves Matt for who he is. She's a warm, optimistic, "ray of sunshine" character that compliments Matt's mellow, simple and happy nature well. Constantly determined to see the best in people, she lifts him up when he needs it, but has also seen him at his worst over the years, even if it was just as a co-worker, and later, friend. Sylvie shows her trust in Matt by allowing herself to be vulnerable and rely on him. When she thought her apartment had been broken into, Matt is the one she called and trusted to protect her. When Julie came into the picture, Sylvie let Matt not only be by her side through the entire process, but be the shoulder she cried on when Julie died.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. They're both there when others need them.
Cindy: It goes without saying that whenever Herrmann or the rest of Firehouse 51 needs support, Cindy is the first to show up and the last to leave. Whether it's showing her support for Molly's, or bringing food to the hospital waiting room when the house is anxiously waiting to see if one of their own makes it, or helping Gabby get a room ready before her inspection to foster Louie and babysitting Louie herself, Cindy loves caring for people.
Tumblr media
Sylvie: It also goes without saying that Sylvie had a front row seat to the Dawsey story. When Gabby and Matt broke up the first time, Sylvie offered Gabby a place to stay as a roommate. When Matt needed support amidst uncertainty over his CFD future, Sylvie returned the support Matt gave her with Julie and dropped everything to be there for him. Whether it's hosting a firehouse wedding for a couple who's venue burned down, or being the prom date of a teen who's promposal went sideways, or encouraging Foster to go to medical school, Sylvie always goes above and beyond as a friend and paramedic simply because it's in her nature.
Tumblr media
3. Both have cores of steel, but are sources of stability for their men.
Cindy: When Herrmann got injured on the job in the earlier seasons, and later when he got stabbed by Freddie, Cindy showed her strength by not crumbling even when her world was falling apart. She was strong for Herrmann because he and their kids needed it. And even while she was hurting and scared for him, she still told him everything was going to be okay and encouraged him. On the other hand, Cindy has clearly shown her ability to ground Herrmann, put her foot down when necessary, and bring him back to reality when he's forging ahead on a new scheme, especially when she calls him Christopher. 😉
Tumblr media
Sylvie: As a paramedic, Sylvie has had her share of close calls. Whether it's guns to the head or bad partners...
Tumblr media
or irate victims... (*cough* "Sylvie Brett! Two T's." *cough*)
...no one can deny Sylvie has a core of steel and an amazing inner strength, apart from her bright personality. There's more to Sylvie than meets the eye.
Yet, when Matt tried to push her away after his head injury, she wouldn't let him. She was going to be there. She was worried for him, scared for her friend (and the man she loved), but she still told him exactly how it was going to be.
"Just call me when you hear from Carmen or else." 👇
Tumblr media
On a lighter note though, she also has the ability to ground Matt, encourage him, comfort him, and remind him of who he is: a great firefighter and a great man. She helps him see the bigger picture and stops his doubts right in their tracks.
Tumblr media
4. Both understand the men they're with—and all that comes with it.
Cindy and Sylvie: Both women want to see their men at their best and doing what they love. Sylvie knows firefighting is Matt's entire life and Cindy recognizes that being a "smoke eater" is a part of Herrmann. Despite the many injuries they've received, and the fear of more injuries happening, both women continue to encourage their men to keep going. They've never tried to stop them from being who they are and that's what makes them amazing partners. 🙌

Chicago Fire Prompt
I’m not a very good writer but I’ve been reading fan-fiction for over a decade. I had a great idea for a Kelly Severide/Matt Casey brotherly bonding story. Loosely following the plot line in the series. Squad 3/Truck 81/Engine 51/Ambo 61 are called out to a fire in an apartment complex. While rushing victims out someone pulls out a young boy, maybe 8 or 9 years old. The boy is fighting back against the firefighter carrying him out of the building. He drops and hides under one of the rigs. Severide is able to slow coax the child out from under the rig and into the Ambo, but he wont let go, Severide travels with the scared child to Chicago Med. During that time they are able to find out his name, Matthew Casey, a very scared 8 year old. As they look into his history they find his mother, Nancy Casey, had killed her husband a few months before and the child had been placed in foster care. When looking further into the child’s file it is discovered the the late Greg Casey was not Matt’s biological father. Using Severide's’ connections with Chicago PD’s finest, they discover Matt’s biological father on his birth certificate. One Benny Severide. Kelly Severide knows he has several step siblings, but even after being surprised with the 19 year old Katie, this was a new one. How could he trust his father with a terrified 8 year old, could he be a better father than the man who neglected to raise him? But what other choice is there? Especially when he looks into the teary blue eyes of the child sitting on his lap, clutching the laples of his bunker gear for dear life. And maybe this could be the best thing to happen to a child like Matt, who had already seen too much in his short life, carrying the weight of the world on his small bony shoulders. Now he was the chance of a new family in Firehouse 51.
(Small ask: Not a huge fan of Dawson. She doesn’t need to be mean or evil, not the bad guy. But preferably not a main character!!!)
I feel like if anyone could bring this to life @gins-potter could! I adore their storytelling and writing style!!

The Heroic Heralds of the Hermann Horde
Part 1
written by: @anotheronechicagobog
Warnings: swearing, tension, parental issues
A/N: You should read my fic ‘Tylenol and Tequila’ part three for some relationships to make sense but it can be read without having done so, the story focuses mainly on the Hermann family (or Hermann Horde as I have dubbed them) but there’s some stellaride and upstead in here as well.
Tumblr media
Being one out of five kids was exhausting. There were pros and cons that they all had to deal with. Lee Henry, Luke, and Annabelle got new clothes, Lee Henry because he was the oldest, Luke because hand me downs were too worn when they got to him, and Annabelle because she was the only girl. Kenny, Luke, Max, and Annabelle got away with pretty much everything because they didn’t have to set an example (and the only times they did get in trouble usually had more to with a bad call their dad had than anything else). Kenny was unintentionally favoured by their dad more because he has made it very clear he wants to be a firefighter like his dad. Max was favoured by their mom because of his traumatic birth. Kenny, Luke, and Max were closer because Lee Henry was the firstborn and not only had Cindy and Christopher decided to wait a few years before having more kids but also because he had to be the responsible older brother/third parent most of the time, his parents hadn’t intended for that to happen and they felt guilty about it sometimes, but they needed his help and made sure he got at least an hour of free time (this didn’t include homework or chores) a day. Annabelle felt left out frequently because she was the only girl and while she didn’t fit the girly girl mould, she just didn’t share a lot of interests or societal problems with her brothers. So the Hermann’s were their own unique brand of love and chaos, and they were alright with that.
Lee Henry had gotten a part-time job for Friday nights and weekends as a lifeguard. People liked to joke that lifesaving ran in the family, but that wasn’t the case. Lee didn’t want to ever rush into a burning building, he never wanted to let worry and fear linger over his family’s heads day after day. Wondering if every unexpected knock on the door or phone call was a death notice or call to the hospital. He didn’t resent his dad for his career, but it had affected a lot of his life choices. The reason he became a lifeguard was because when he was 10, almost 11, his dad fell through the floor of a burning building.
He remembers the phone ringing, wondering if it was Susan from his granna’s quilting club, or Kraken (Karen) from the PTA. His mom answered with a cheerful hello but when she made no other noise and the room suddenly felt thick, he looked up, and he saw his mom’s face. She had gotten so pale he could see her veins, her eyes were wet and had sunken in, her mouth moving like she was screaming so loud it would shatter windows but nothing was coming out, and then she collapsed. Her knees just gave out underneath her. Lee jumped up to try and keep his mom from falling on the floor. He was too weak to catch her so they landed together on the hardwood together with a thump. She still couldn’t say anything, she started shaking, so Lee grabbed the phone. “-Ms. Hermann? Are you still there? Did you hear me? Your husband fell through the floor of a burning building, he’s on transport to the hospital-”
“In ambulance sixty-one?”
“... I’m sorry who am I speaking to?”
“Lee Henry Hermann, son of Christopher and Cindy Hermann. Is my dad being taken to the hospital in ambulance sixty-one?”
“Yes, but I should really-”
“Which hospital?”
“Lakeshore medical centre, I should really speak to-”
“We’re on our way.” He hung up, remembering the words his dad has said to him a thousand times, ‘if you’re in a dangerous situation do everything you can to stay calm, you can make things worse if you panic’. “Hello, yellow taxi? I need a cab to take five people, one adult and four kids, to Lakeshore medical centre. My Dad got hurt and mom can’t speak.” It was a flurry of running and car seats and firefighter turn out gear that wasn’t his dad’s. That wasn’t cool anymore. That he couldn’t stand to look at or smell. So when no one was looking he got up and, calmly, walked to a closet. He walked inside, closed the door, and let it all out. He cried, muffled his screams with his forearms. He ruthlessly scratched his arms, and hit himself. In the head, chest, thighs, feet. He knew right then, from the look on his mother’s face, from the grimness behind uncle Randy’s eyes, from the tearing feeling in his chest, he could never do it. He could never be a firefighter.
When he returned to the group, his long-sleeved shirt was rolled down and he’d stopped at the bathroom before heading to the cafeteria to make sure he looked okay. He was carrying two plastic bags that were filled to the brim with sandwiches and water bottles. He was spotted by uncle Randy first. “Lee Henry! There you are, what’ve you got there?”
“Some food and water, I figured we’d all need something to eat and drink, we might be here a while after all.”
“Yeah... Hey, I heard that you helped get everyone here, and you’ve been really calm and level-headed throughout this whole thing. You’ve done really well, why don’t you sit down and we’ll keep you company til we hear some news about your dad? Severide can pass around the grub, okay?” Severide made his way over to the oldest Hermann child and gave him a proud smile. “I for one, am not even remotely surprised that you’re so calm. Your old man is a firefighter, remaining calm in stressful situations and helping others is in your blood. Should we be expecting another Hermann at 51?” Lee felt his heart sink into his gut, but thankfully Boden called for all the members of 51 to have a talk in one section of the ER before Lee could answer.
Lee took one last walk around the pool, to make sure he hadn’t missed any puddles or items when cleaning the deck while the last of the stragglers got out of the pool and the stands when he heard a loud crack. He whipped his head around and found a teen about his age lying on the floor at the bottom of the stands. He rushed over and methodically went over his injuries, calling out orders to the other lifeguards and people around him. He and Kylie got the guy on their backboard and his neck stabilized. The paramedics arrived quickly. “Lee Henry?”
“Hey Brett, so we have a teenage male, unsure of age or name, with a head laceration, possible neck trauma, and loss of consciousness. He fell off the stands and hasn’t so much as opened his eyes, one of the other lifeguards went through the change rooms to see if there was anyone waiting for him but they couldn’t find anyone. I noticed him come in a couple of hours ago, but he didn’t socialize with or appear to have come with anyone. He just came in and sat down at the top.”
“Alright, well you did a good job, we’ve got it from here.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next morning he was met by his dad, smiling from ear to ear. ”There's my boy.” Christopher began patting Lee Henry on the back. ”Brett said you were amazing, guess you'll be joining me at 51 pretty soon, huh? And tonight we are going to celebrate, the entire firehouse is coming over and we're gonna do a pot luck.”
Lee Henry couldn't get a word in edgewise, just sighed as his dad walked away, over the moon. Lee Henry finished getting ready under the concerned eyes of his mother, who had witnessed the tension in his shoulders and fine line his lips went into. ”Are you okay, honey?”
”Yeah, I'm great. I'll see you after work.” He gave his mom a kiss on the cheek, grabbed his duffle and headed for the station.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lee felt his stomach sink when he recognized the extra cars cluttering the street in from of his house. He rolled his shoulders back at the sound of heavy laughter coming from inside, knowing it was better just to face it head on. He was met with the smell of various kinds of foods, and was met with the sound of rowdy firefighters. ”Hey Herm, the guest of honour had finally arrived. Lee Henry, come over here!”
”Hey guys.” Lee spent the next two hours, after working a 10 hour shift of a labour intensive job, bearing everyone’s comments about the ’next generation of Hermann firefighters’, and constantly being pulled away from the food table! Donna made pallea and his mom made brownies! He just wanted to eat!
He was tired, hungry, and emotionally worn out when uncle Kelly pulled him aside. ”Hey, Lee, I didn't want to say this to your dad before you, but I made a couple calls, and was able to get you a spot at the academy for next fall if you want it. It'll be great-”
”I don't want to be a firefighter.”
”What?”
”I haven't since I was ten.”
”Lee, you don't have to-”
”I... It's just a personal choice.”
”But your dad... He thinks you want to be a firefighter.”
”He never lets me get a word in, just rambles until he has to leave for shift or Molly's.”
”What do you want to be then?”
”A doctor.”
”Ha, you’re a healer not a smokeater, huh?”
”Don’t laugh, you'll need someone to fix up your self-destructive ass when you fall through a floor in a burning house.” Lee just couldn't take it anymore, his emotions had boiled over, so he’d snapped. And now he needed to leave so that he didn't have to watch his uncle put all the dots together right in front of him.
----------------------
He was hungry and in need of comfort. Both from food and people. So when Kylie jogged out of his house after him, he was grateful. They caught the el downtown and went to Bartolli’s, a favourite restaurant of the Hermann’s. ”You were pretty loud, when you were talking to Kelly, just so you know.”
He sighed. ”I figured. I texted my mom before we got to the station, told her where we were going, mostly to avoid her worrying, but I fully expect someone to show up.”
”It does seem like something anyone at 51 would do, they are very involved in each other's lives.”
”Hey, you've been dealing with this for a few months, I've been dealing with it my whole life.” Their conversation flowed freely, mixed with milkshakes and deep-dish pizza.
”Do you know what you want to do when you get out of high school?”
”Definitely something that helps people, but I don't think I want to be a firefighter either. Kelly and Stella worry about me just going to school, I can't imagine how they'd feel if I was running into burning buildings! They'd probably only be okay with it if I was at 51 with them, and while I love them, I don't love them that much. I think something in law.”
”The only issue for us is how to pay for all that.”
“We could join the military, but that does kinda defeat the purpose of not being firefighters...”
“Lee Henry? Kylie?”
“Detective Upton and Halstead, hi.”
“What are you two doing here? I thought that 51 was celebrating a big save you made.”
“Yeah, but it just ended up being a firefighter thing, you know how it goes, especially because apparently, you guys do the same thing.”
“Yeah, we do...”
“Well,” Halstead gave a smirk and a nod, “you two enjoy your pizza.”
“Thanks,” Kylie piped up, having not spoken much with the detectives, “and you two have fun on your date.” Lee and Kylie turned to go back to their meal, but noticed the frozen body language and panicked expressions of the two adults. They looked at each other, concerned, before Lee decided to bite the bullet. “Uh, guys? Are you okay? Should we call the other Halstead?”
“We’re not dating.”
“Are you sure about that?”
“... Yesssssss.”
“You don’t sound so sure.”
“Have a nice night kids.” Upstead (what they were to be referred to as according to his mom) turned and bolted out of the restaurant, blushes and pizza in tow. “I really hope that they sort out their feelings, it’s getting a little exhausting and I don’t even spend that much time around them!”
“Amen to that.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When Lee returned home it was late, and only the porch and living room lights were on. He entered the quiet house alone, having dropped Kylie off at her apartment before returning home himself. He locked the door, turned off the porch light, and went straight to the living room knowing that it was better to face his dead head-on than beat around the bush. “Dad.”
“Lee Henry.”
“We need to talk.”
“Apparently we do.”
“I don’t want to be a firefighter.”
“Well, I heard that pretty loud and clear. It was too loud to miss. You know I just don’t understand-”
“October 10th, 2012.”
“Excuse me?”
“You and uncle Matt fell through the floor of a burning house. Your ADSU went off cause the fall knocked you unconscious. I’ve heard Gabby say that that was one of the scariest days of her life. And I remembered you comforted her when she visited you in the hospital. But you didn’t comfort me-”
“Lee-”
“No. Let me speak for once. I was ten years old. And I had to call the cab company, and get everyone in the car, and keep everyone together, and make sure everyone was eating, and check-in with the nurses about your condition, and get school stuff organized for Luke, Max, and Annabelle, and make all the meals for a week, and get Granna and Grandad on an earlier flight back to Chicago, and manage your medication because mom was too stressed to. Your voice was ringing through my head the entire time, ‘if you’re in a dangerous situation do everything you can to stay calm, you can make things worse if you panic’. All that I was told that miserable week was that I was destined to be a firefighter like you. But I was just listening to you, and I realized that being a firefighter was the absolute last thing I want to be when I get older. I had always known in the back of my mind that your job was dangerous, but it didn’t hit me until that day, not even when uncle Andy died. I just... I had my blinders ripped off, and I can’t ignore the terror I feel every time you leave for work. And I see mom and the others feel it too now that there have been more close calls, and I can’t do it. I want you to know that I don’t resent you for it in any way, but I can’t do that to my friends and family. I can’t let the people in my life feel like they’re saying goodbye to me every time I go to work. And I’ve tried to tell you, but I can never get a word in.”
“I tend to do that apparently. Look, I’ll admit there’s a part of me that’s always wanted you kids to follow in my footsteps, but that is a very small part of me. I am actually really happy that you don’t want to be a firefighter because I know that I don’t have the strength to worry about you or any of the others day after day. It takes a special breed of people to do that, and I don’t come from it. If you want to be a doc, that’s great. I know that you’re more than capable and I’m really proud of you for being able to recognize that. I’m also really sorry. That you had to be so brave so young. Need you to know that I love you, that I am so proud of you, and that I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you as much as I should have been.” Lee had never, ever, seen his dad cry. Christopher Hermann was always strong and firm. But here he was crying in front of his eldest son, exposing all of his vulnerable emotions to him. Cindy found them forty minutes later full-on bawling and clinging to each other as though their lives depended on it. Finally making peace with each other.

your first Matt Casey request!!! where he and the reader (a doctor) are making out in his office as she visits him from her shift at Lakeshore. maybe some jealous Gabby interrupting them
The Doctor Is In The House
Tumblr media
Matt Casey x Reader
Warnings: fem!reader, slight sexual content
Category: Fluff with a drop of smut
Word Count: 1.4k
Author’s Note: first Chicago Fire fic! let's see how this goes :)  also I didn’t proof read so take it as you wish
----
Pulling your lab coat off, you toss it over your arm as you walk into the house. It was oddly quiet considering that the trucks were still in.
“Hey y/n!” you hear Kelly shout, making you smile.
“Hey yourself,” he pulls you in for a hug. “How have you been?” his arm is over your shoulder as the two of you walk towards the kitchen.
“I’ve been better but I can't complain” he smiles when you reach the kitchen.
Needless to say, the guys weren't shocked to see you. You spent most of your lunch breaks there unless you were busy or they were on a call.
Herrmann was showing you the kids’ picture day photos when Otis came by to let you know that Matt was in his office.
“Luke cried because Cindy put him in a tie”
“But he looks so cute, look at those little cheeks” you were always in awe of Chris and Cindy. The fact that they had 5 little ones and had time to be there for each other, not to mention how adorable their kids were.
You and Matt spent many afternoons at the Herrmann household watching the little ones while Christopher and Cindy were on a date or just needed a night to themselves.
“Doc, Lieutenant is in his office” Otis’s hand on your shoulder caused you to look away from the photos.
“How many times do I have to tell you not to call me Doc? You know you can call me y/n”
“yeah but you're a doctor, y/n”
“And you’re a firefighter, I don't call you fireman Otis”
“You can call me whatever you want” Otis winked at you, you faked a gag and patted his shoulder before stepping past him.
The two of you had always had playful friendship - meaning he would irritate you the hell out and you’d bully him. He was like an annoying little brother that just appeared out of nowhere.
“I’ll be back for copies of those! They look adorable!” you shout back to Christopher as you step out into the hall. He shouts back something about dinner and Cindy which you made a mental note to check back with him before you left.
Making your way through the house, you approach Matt’s office, knocking before stepping in. There was no answer so you unlocked the door to see that Matt's office was empty so you stepped in, tossing your lab coat onto his bed.
You roll your eyes at the pile of clothes he has on the corner of the bed, pulling it towards you begin folding them. Your back was to the door when you felt arms snake around your waist, starling you.
“Hi honey,” Matt whispers, his lips pressing a kiss to your neck. Leaning back against your boyfriend, you hum.
“Hi baby, Otis said you were in here”
“Yeah, I took a quick shower, but had I known you were here, I would have waited for you” he mumbles, lips still against your neck.
Your arm reaches back, fingers now tangled in his hair. Matt's hands on your waist turn you to face him, his bare chest pressed to yours. Eyes wandering from his face down his chest to the towel wrapped around his waist.
“Did you walk through the house looking like that?” Hands running down his arms, finally resting on his abs.
Matt glances down at your hands, straying awfully close to the towel. “I did. Is there a problem, baby ?”
His finger lifts your chin, your eyes meeting his blue ones. Your tongue darts out to wet your lips before you shake your head. “No issues here Lieutenant.” Matt sits on the bed, his hands in yours as he looks up at you.
“What time do you need to be back for?” he pulls you down onto his lap, wraps around your waist as you make yourself comfortable on his lap.
Your arms were tossed over his shoulders, fingers tangling in his hair and you were practically straddling him. “I’m not in a rush, why?” Matt’s warm hand pulls your neck down to him, his lips meeting yours.
You give his hair a little tug at the force he uses, not enough to hurt you but enough to get you to roll your hips against his. Matt moans into the kiss, hands grabbing your ass and squeezing. His hands slide up and under your shirt, the warmth of his hands causing you to relax against him.
“Take this off,” he mumbles between kisses whilst tugging on the hem of your shirt, pulling it up and over your head to be tossed somewhere in the office. Matt lays back, you’re still on top of him with his arms wrapped around you, pulling you closer to him which didn’t seem possible anymore.
He pushes the hair from your shoulder, pushing the bra strap off your shoulder. His lips leave a trail of kisses from the lobe of your ear down to your shoulder, Matt takes a moment to stop at the spot between your neck and collar bone.
“Matt,” you hum which truthfully comes out more as a moan. His hand moving across your back to undo the clasp of your bra. He manages to toss that somewhere in the office as well when he sits up, your chest pressed to his.
Matt's hands rest on your hips, his eyes wandering across your body for a moment. “God, you're beautiful-” “Hey Matt!” you hear when the door pushes up and hits the wall.
Gabi stood at the door, taking in the scene in front of her. Matt's office door was  unlocked and only pushed in halfway, leaving a gap between the door frame and door which she clearly mistook as a sign of Matt being alone and dressed.
Instead she was met with Matt sitting on the bed with a towel around his waist, a shirtless woman pressed up against him with his arms holding her tightly to him- like she'd disappear if he let go.
You, on the other hand, were pressing your lips together trying not to make a sound as if Gabi didn’t already know it was you.
“Oh god I- uh, I'll leave. Sorry” Gabi stumbled out into a sentence before pulling the door shut. You let out a breath you didn’t realize you were holding, face now buried in Matt's shoulder out of pure shame and embarrassment.
“Oh my god.” You were mortified to say the least but Matt on the other hand, was holding back a laugh. “Didn’t you lock the door?”
“You came in last!” you smack his shoulder, he gives you a smile.
Getting up off the bed, you finally find your bra and put it back on, Matt fixing the clasp from his spot on the bed. Pressing small kisses to your back, he pulls you down into his lap again.
“Don't even think about it. Get dressed, Matt.” You stand and pull your scrub top back on. Matt grumbles a fine and gets dressed while you attempt to fix your hair.
“I'll walk you out” his hand rests on your lower back as the two of you make your way out of the station.
“Hey!” Herrmann calls out, jogging over to you and Matt. “The missus says dinner on Saturday, if that's okay with you two?”
“Of course, we’ll be there” you smile, Herrmann nods with a smile. “Cindy’ll have the pictures for you too.” he pulls you in for a hug before letting you go off to the car with Matt.
You can feel Gabi’s eyes burning a hole into you the whole time. You glance in her direction, giving her a small smile.
Oh boy, if looks could kill.
Matt walks you out to your car, giving you a kiss before your ass a squeeze.
“Matthew! You're supposed to be a community firefighter, set an example - have you no manners?” scolding him like a child, he smiles wickedly when he shuts your car door. You wind down the window, he kisses you quickly, “We’re finishing that when we get home.”
“Whatever you say Lieutenant.” you smile.

Tumblr media
First day of 6th grade. You didn't have many friends from Elementary school and the ones you did have were going to a different middle school. So you were starting over in the department. Which was fine, you could do that easily. Maybe. So here you were climbing onto the bus looking for an empty seat. Your eyes locked with a boy as he moves his bag from the seat before waving you over to sit next to him.
"Hi! I'm Lee Henry." He grins at you.
"I'm y/n. Why do you have two names?" You asked him smiling.
"I don't know my mom and dad never told me why."
"Oh. That's okay, your cool can we be friends?"
"Yeah!"
—— 4 years later
Now four years later you spend most of your time at his house with his family. They're different than what you're used to. You love it at his house it's never quiet, and there's always something going on. While at your house it's usually just you by yourself since your mom works a lot to support two of you and your dad was in jail last time you heard.
"Good morning kids." Herrmann walks down the stairs with his work bag seeing you on his couch with his kids as he has for over 3 years.
"Good morning."
"Y/n where's rent huh? With you here so much you otta start paying."
"Oh come on im practically your sixth kid you can't get rid of me." You laugh looking back at him.
"Didn't say I was getting rid of you. Just charging you." He laughs setting his bag down behind the couch.
"Same difference." You glared at him playfully. He smiles ruffling your hair.
"Sure." He chuckled. "Where's you mom at?" He directs the question to his oldest son.
"Kitchen."
"Okay go back to your game." He says walking out of the room.
"When did your mom say you had to be home anyway?" Lee Henry asks you.
"You tired of me already?" You laugh.
"No just wanted to know how much time we have."
"Before 7, she wants to have a movie night." You say not taking your eyes off the TV.
"Eh, you get to spend most of the day with your favorite herrmann." Lee Henry jokes.
"For the first time your right. I love spending time with Kenny." You joke motioning to the 3-year-old who sat in front of you drawing.
"Don't worry I prefer his company over you too." Lee pushes you gently.
"As you should."

X me + brettsey at the hospital maybe some type of hurt/comfort scenario? 😊🥰
It was a freak accident Sylvie thinks as she and Violet rushed Matt to Med. There’s no other explanation for it. She knew it wasn't Matt's fault. It couldn't have been but one of these days, that man is going to give Sylvie a heart attack.
Calls at construction sites were common. With all the heavy equipment around, someone was bound to get hurt if they weren’t being careful. Sylvie had brought a lot of workers over the years to various hospital emergency rooms - those who got sliced with a chainsaw or accidentally stapled themselves with a nail gun or got stuck under some machinery.
So when Truck and Ambo got a call at a nearby site, they quickly got to work. 81 managed to pull out the trapped construction worker and luckily, he didn’t need to go to the hospital because the next thing Sylvie heard on the radio was a mayday call from Gallo. She and Violet sprung into action bringing the backboard into the site. Her heart dropped to the pit of her stomach when she saw all the blood staining Matt’s white shirt, a rebar impaling his stomach, Gallo was crouched in front of his Captain, assessing the injury. Sylvie rushed to them as she took a better look at the rebar. Thank God it didn’t go through. She had no time to panic as she centered herself and took care of the wound, barking out orders.
She told Violet to floor it as she watched over Matt in the back of the ambulance. He was coherent, still having the energy to joke about it with her. She radioed ahead to Med to make sure it would all go smoothly.
They wheel him into the ED as she hears Maggie calling out for Crockett. Her voice is steady as she recites his vitals and a brief explanation of what happened. She sees Crockett smile at her briefly before closing the curtain and it makes her feel just a bit better. Matt’s in the best possible hands and that’s what matters.
Two hours later, 51 is camped out in the ED waiting room as they anticipate an update on Matt’s condition. Sylvie sits quietly with Stella and Violet praying that the rebar didn’t puncture any vital organs. When Violet excuses herself to go to the restroom, Cindy Herrmann slides next to Sylvie with a tray of brownies in hand. She offers it to Sylvie who gratefully accepts.
“How are you, hon?” Cindy asks.
Sylvie glances at the older woman and she knows that Cindy isn’t just asking about her feelings, there’s something deeper in her words. She and Matt have only been dating for a month but since the house knows, she’s sure Herrmann’s told Cindy about it.
“How do you do it, Cindy?” She inquires softly. Cindy and Herrmann have been married for so long, maybe it gets easier with time. All this worrying about somebody you love being in such a dangerous line of work where anything can go wrong at any moment.
Cindy pats her hand, “trust me, it never goes away. You just have to have faith that they’ll come back safely and in one piece. You know that Christopher’s been through a lot but he loves this job and I think only retirement’s going to pry him away from it.”
“Yeah, Matt’s the same. I don’t think this will slow him down even a bit,” Sylvie mentions, taking a bite of her brownie, relishing in the sweet chocolate-y taste.
“Christopher told me the two of you finally figured it out,” Cindy tells her, smiling.
“Finally?”
Cindy nods, “he said something about knowing how the two of you would get together before you did and another thing about Casey’s awkward hand gestures when he’s around you?”
Sylvie lets out a giggle, remembering about that particular moment in the locker room.
Her short chat with Cindy manages to calm her down. She knows she’ll always feel her heart hammering out of her chest every time Matt runs head first towards danger but it’s the line of work they both chose and like Cindy said, you have to have faith that they’ll always come back.
Thirty minutes later, Crockett makes an appearance and everyone crowds in front of him, anxious looks on their faces.
“Hey guys, he’s doing well. Rebar didn’t hit any major organ although, we did have to take out his spleen. He’s in the recovery room now but should be up for visitors in an hour or two. I’ll have Maggie come get you once he’s settled in a room,” the surgeon informs them.
“That’s great news,” Herrmann cheers.
Sylvie feels Stella squeeze her hand as she lets out the breath she’s been holding.
When the Med staff is able to get a room for Matt, Maggie comes to find them. 51 cram into Matt’s hospital room, laughing and joking about all the mind numbing paperwork that he gets to file while being stuck in the bull pen since he'll be out of commission for at least a few weeks.
She ends up staying back when everyone starts to file out.
“Hey,” Matt says, smiling at her, completely cheerful for someone who had a metal rod sticking out of him just three hours ago.
“I remember we talked about you never doing this again,” Sylvie chastises, “scaring me half to death.”
“I think I said I’d try my best,” Matt replies teasingly.
“Matt” Sylvie begins warningly.
“All’s well that ends well,” he reassures her.
“You lost your spleen,” Sylvie points out.
Matt raises an eyebrow before responding, “I heard you could live without those pesky spleens.”
“I was terrified, Matt, all that blood. I know you say how you have things in control but this particular one, nobody could have predicted that,” she confesses.
“Come here,” he beckons to her. He slowly scoots over, careful about his new stitches, so she has some room to sit on the bed.
“I can’t promise you that it’ll never happen again but what I can guarantee is I’ll always fight my way back to you,” he tells her, holding her hand.
Sylvie murmurs, “you’re going to make my hair go prematurely grey.”
“I heard grey hair’s pretty in,” Matt jokes, trying to lighten the mood.
Sylvie laughs despite herself, the rest of her worry starting to melt away.
“You know you’re stuck with me, right? I mean, for as long as you’ll have me, of course,” Matt says.
She looks at him, at this man she’s loved for God knows how long, “sounds about right. You’re stuck with me too.”
“I don’t mind,” he grins lopsidedly at her.

“Will you hold me?” (I know this isn’t on the list but fatherly Herrmann x reader please if not comfortable either Matt x reader or Kelly x reader are fine) just something along the lines of the reader either having a falling out with a good friend or high anxiety. Love your work ❤️❤️❤️
Pairing: Christopher Herrmann x Reader (Fatherly figure)
#32: Will you hold me?
A/N: I made an exception because I was up in my Herrmann feels when this request came in after watching an episode of fire. But disclaimer I never wrote for Herrmann before so I hope it's okay! Thanks for liking my work!!!
Tumblr media
“Hey kid, you okay?”
You looked up even though your eyes were brimming with tears, right into the eyes of Christopher Herrmann.
Even through the tears that were spilling out of your eyes now, you could see his expression soften as he walked towards you before sitting next to you in the corner.
“What do you need?”
Herrmann had been like the father you’d never had since you’d joined 51. To someone like you who’d never experienced love from the people whose blood you shared pumping through your veins, 51 had seemed too good to be true. But it was true.
Sylvie and Gabby had naturally taken you under their wing, inviting you to girl’s nights with ice cream and alcohol and a lot of laughing. Herrmann and Mouch always looked out for you, even if it was just to save the last doughnut for you, or in Herrmann’s case it was even to take you home for a home cooked dinner to surround you with family.
“Will you hold me?” The need for someone to comfort you overriding everything else. “I just…”
Herrmann gently put a hand over your shoulder. “Anything, kid.”
So you cried. You cried your heart out, stifling your sobs so no one else in the firehouse would hear and when the tears ran dry and your sobs died down, you raised your head slowly.
“I’m sorry.”
Herrmann smiled. “Why don’t you come over for dinner? Cindy would like to see you too.”
You looked up and he smiled. “I’ll call her and let her know.”
Just before he left, he squeezed your arm, telling you he had your back. Herrmann had no idea what was going on, he didn’t know why you were upset or what had you sobbing your heart out in the back of the firehouse in the middle of shift but he didn’t mind or care.
You wiped off the remaining tears and felt a small bubble of warmth blossom up in your chest, warmth that Herrmann had given to you.

The One He Got Right
Pairing: Jay Halstead x Reader
Word count: 2,700
Warnings: None. Just a crazy amount of fluff.
Summary: Jay and (y/n) have been dating for several months now, so, when his birthday comes up, the reader wants to throw him a surprise party.
Disclaimer: I don’t own any of the One Chicago shows, or its characters, also not associated with it in any way or know anyone involved with it.
A/N: Fluffy happy jay is my religion, that's all I'm gonna say. Also, I feel like the One Chicago universe could have a lot of surprise parties, so, if they won't give it to us, let's just indulge ourselves, right?
As always, I hope it doesn’t suck too bad and, please, feel free to give me feedback!

“You know, babe, I was hoping you’d be able to get the Thursday off so that we could go out and have some fun, or just stay in and cuddle. You can choose.” Jay said whilst caressing your feet in his lap.
“While that does sound good, I’m not sure I can convince my boss to give me the time off on such short notice, Jay.” You confessed with a tired sigh. “But what’s so special about Thursday for Voight to give you a day off anyway? You didn’t mention any big cases lately…” You asked your boyfriend, not missing how he started to uncomfortably shift his position on the couch.
“Uh, he said I should take the day to myself because it’s my birthday. That’s why I was hoping-”
“What???” You asked him, sitting up straight, already buzzing with excitement. “It’s your birthday in four days and you didn’t tell me???” Jay just looked at you like you were crazy.
“Well, I’m telling you now. Besides, it’s not that big of a deal. I just figured that since I’m getting a rare day off, I’d spend it with the person I love…” He tried to sound nonchalant, but you knew what game he was playing. And, honestly, you didn’t really care, because you’d always loved birthdays and holidays in general. So, if you had a chance at being with Jay throughout his, you’d take it.
“Not that big of a deal? Who are you? The Grinch? Of course, it’s a big deal, babe!” Your excitement was almost tangible. “So, tell me, what is it you want us to do, hum? Is there gonna be a party? Wait a second, have you been party-planning without me this whole time?” Your boyfriend couldn’t understand how went from too grinny to too offended in two seconds like that.
“What? Party? No! No! Not at all, baby! I really just thought we could spend some quality time together, you know, without the possibility of me getting called in at any minute…" He told you and, all of the sudden, he looked exhausted, making you feel stupid for bombarding him with your craziness like that.
"Oh, okay… Look, I'm sorry I freaked out, babe. It's just that you're such an amazing boyfriend – and everything else, really –, so, when you said it's your birthday… Let me do something?" You asked, with what you considered to be your sweetest smile. At that, Jay started chuckling lightly.
"Well, I could let you do something, but your company is already gonna be much more than just something. And that's all I could possibly want from you, princess." How could you even try to resist that man?
"Okay. Then, uh, I'll get the day off, no matter what, but… I'm still doing something!" You said with a wicked smile.
"Oh, God. Fine, just don't exaggerate, okay?" Hearing that, you gave him a look.
"Right, right. Note to self: don't exaggerate." At that point, Jay decided to just give in, which was the best he could do, since your plan was already shaping up in your head. It was going to be a long four days…
The next morning, after leaving Jay’s place, you started calling people while walking to work. The first on your list was Herrmann because there was no party without a venue. And what better venue for your boyfriend’s birthday celebration than the very place where he liked to spend so much time?
“Hi, (y/n/n)! How you doing?” Christopher asked with his usual excited voice.
“Hey, Chirs! I’m great, how are you? And how are Cindy and the kids?” First things first: to convince the petty man to let you use his bar like that, you were gonna need to be your most charming self.
“Ah, we’re all good too, thanks for asking, kid! Listen, uh, how’s everything between you and Halstead? He hasn’t shown up at Molly’s in a while…” Normally that would have gotten you worried, but this time you knew that it was because of the demanding case his unit had closed last week and then because of how he was trying to spend most of his crazy free hours with you.
“Everything’s fine, really. The thing is that he’d been a little too busy with Intelligence’s latest case and then he was a bit tired in his free time, so we’d just spend the nights in… But thank you for the concern, Chris!” By that point of your relationship with Jay, you’d met pretty much everyone who hung out at the first responders’ bar (at least everyone who was friends with your boyfriend), and it was fair to say that they all had a lot of appreciation for you. Herrmann, for example, was always trying to look after you. Treating you like a daughter. And, as sweet as that was, you were about to use it to get him to give up Molly’s for the party. “So, um, you mentioned that we haven’t been to Molly’s much lately… How’s the business going?”
“Ah, (y/n/n), look at you! Always worrying about other people! The business is going well! But you know how these things are… Could always be better.” He told you, in that very Herrmann way, always thinking ahead and making growth plans.
“Yeah… Well, you know, Jay always tells me about how much he loves it there… How much that place and the people in it, especially you, mean to him…” You threw your bait. It wasn’t exactly true, but it wasn’t exactly a lie either. You knew how much all of that meant to Jay, he never even had to tell you about it.
“Really?” You could practically hear Herrmann’s grin through the phone. “I hope he knows that we all at 51, hell, at Molly’s, see him as family too! He’s such a good kid... ” Perfect. It was now or never.
“Speaking of him knowing how much he means to us, as you know that his birthday is coming up on Thursday, I was-”
“What??? His birthday? I, I, I, ah, I didn’t know that…” Another perfect strike for you.
“Well, then I guess that makes it a bit weird for me to ask you what I was about to…” God, it was moments like this that made you think that you could've been an actress.
“No! What?! Not at all, what was it?”
“I was wondering if you could give Molly’s up for a surprise party I wanna throw for him...” You said, ripping the band-aid off, with your fingers crossed that the guilt-trip you tried to put him on would work its magic.
“Oh!” If only you could see him now! Split between wanting to show Jay how much he cared and the projections of how much he’d lose giving Molly’s up like that. “You know what? To the hell with it! Jay was one of our first regular customers and got us rid of that scumbag Arthur, so yeah! We’re doing that for him!” You wanted to scream at how perfectly your plan had worked out, but you stopped yourself as Herrmann said (for no one’s surprise): “But I’m not giving any free drinks to anyone!”
“Okay, okay, Chris.” You said laughing. “What you’re doing is enough help already! Thank you so much!”
“Nah, don’t worry about it! Just wish everyone would appreciate my gestures as much as you do, instead of complaining that I should be doing more…” At that point, you were laughing your ass off, as you couldn’t keep it inside any longer.
“Okay, then I’ll let you know when and who’s gonna need the keys to set up the decoration and stuff.” You said whilst brushing the tears away from your eyes.
“Alright, (y/n/n), I gotta go now, but I’ll talk to you soon.”
“Yeah, talk soon. Bye.” One down, some more to go.
And that's how you spent your morning: completely ignoring your work, in between calls to put Jay's surprise party in motion. You put Stella, Severide, and whoever else wanted to help them in charge of the drinks. Sylvie and Chloe were on the cake. Adam and Kevin were taking care of the food, duly supervised by Kim and Hailey, as you knew they couldn't be trusted to not eat anything before the time. You let Maggie and Ethan in charge of the decoration, along with any more help they could get at Med. And Will and Platt were going to contact Jay's other friends. You were on the tricky assignment of keeping your boyfriend in the dark about all of that until it was Thursday night. While, also, overseeing everyone's work, because, well, you were the organizer!
To say that there were many bumps along the short period of time you had until the party was stating the obvious. Several times during those three days you got calls from Will, panicking over the fact that, every time he saw his brother, he felt an urge to scream 'Surprise!!!'. Seriously, after this party, Jay Halstead just couldn't let you out of his life, because the amount of energy it took to keep yourself from murdering his older brother... It was a clear show of love.
Still, everything went well and there were no murders. The Thursday morning came as quickly as you knew it would and, thankfully, everyone had their parts of the plan pretty much done. Which meant it was your time to shine: operation keep-the-detective-from-detecting had begun!
“So, today’s the day. Are you gonna tell me what is it that we’re doing?” Jay asked you with a soft smile on his lips.
“Yes, of course, detective. But only after we get you a proper birthday breakfast!” You told Jay while pulling him out of the apartment to go to this diner you knew he loved. When you got there, the orders were already waiting for you at your favorite table, and, being the silly bean he is, your boyfriend got pretty impressed by it.
“But, what?! How did you get them to do this? I thought they never took orders over the phone!”
“And they never do!” You confirmed with a wink, trying to hold back the laughter. Not that you could keep it inside any longer when his eyes landed on the personalized birthday wishes written on the pancakes. As much as he liked to act like a tough guy most of the time, at that moment he couldn’t help but let out his inner excited little boy.
“Oh my God! This is amazing! It’s so cute!” He beamed brightly.
“I know, I know. Now eat your breakfast, birthday boy!” You ordered with a fake look of annoyance on your face. But instead of just digging in on the food, like you’d told him to, he leaned in from across the table to press a sweet kiss to your lips.
“The day barely even started and I already know that this is gonna be one of the best birthdays of my life!” He told you, as a genuinely happy smile took over his features.
“Well, then I’m glad I can be of service.” You said, and, like that, the day passed by. You wandered, hand-in-hand, the streets of a rare sunny Chicago, had lunch by the Riverwalk, went to the movie theater, and, finally, back to his place.
“Okay, today was amazing! But, I gotta admit, I’m a bit tired… So what do you say we open a bottle of wine, order some Italian, and cuddle our way into the night, hum?” Jay asked, already sitting on the couch with his phone in hand.
“I say a big colossal no!” Hearing that, he looked at you super confused. “Because I already told Will that we were gonna meet him for a couple of beers at Molly’s.” Instead of just sighing and standing up like you thought he’d do, your boyfriend narrowed his eyes to you, in a way that showed he got suspicious of something. “What?”
“We’re gonna meet Will at Molly’s? On my birthday?”
“Yeah, why?”
“No, nothing. It’s just that, coming from you and Will on my birthday,” shit! He emphasized the birthday part again, “that doesn’t sound like just a meetup for beers at Molly’s, that’s all.” Damn it, a thousand times damn it! Why did he have to be so good? And that stupid cocky smile he had on right now was still gonna be the death of you. Before you even said anything, you knew it wasn’t gonna be very convincing, given how useless your brain seemed to be at the moment. So you could only hope that he’d turn a blind eye and just go along with it when you said:
“Well, it is just a meetup at Molly’s. And, if you must know, I only agreed to it because Will spent all day blowing up my phone with texts, saying that I stole his baby brother from him on a date that you two should always spend together.” You lied, trying to put up an annoyed façade.
“Ah, well, if that’s the case, then let’s just stay here and ignore our phones.” Jay suggested with a shrug. He knew you were lying, damn it!
“No!” You answered a bit too quickly. “We, uh, we can’t do that! Because, first of all, it would be very douchy and, second, Will would be mad at me forever, and that can’t happen if I have any hopes of ever becoming a Halstead.” You didn’t even realize what you’d just said, until after it came out, but then it was too late to go back. He glued his eyes on you immediately, while you tried to hide your blushing face with your hands. “I can’t believe that I really just said that out loud.” You sorta-whispered shyly, never uncovering your face.
“Me neither…” He confessed with a huge grin, also going to remove your hands off your face with his. “Baby, I know I don’t say this much, because, as you know, words aren’t really my strongest suit, but I love you. And I, too, have real high hopes that you’ll become a Halstead someday.” He told you, making your eyes tear up.
“I love you too, babe.” You barely let it out before he pulled you in for a warm loving kiss.
“So, you say that a lot in your head, hum?” He asked with a smug smirk on his lips.
“Shut up, let’s just go.” You grunted, trying hard not to blush again.
“Do we really have to, though? You know Will doesn’t get to decide anything between us.” Jay tried to reason with you, apparently forgetting about his suspicions.
“I know, but we’re not bailing on him like this, Jay.” At that, he gave you an annoyed pouting look but eventually gave it up and headed to the bar with you.
Before you got out of the cab, you managed to, discretely, shoot Will a quick text, to let everyone know that you’d arrived. That way, as soon as Jay opened the door, letting you in first as usual, the mini crowd of guests shouted:
“Surprise!!!!!” You couldn’t help but break up in laughter when your boyfriend almost jumped back outside after the scare. Jay Halstead, the man who was always prepared for anything, got completely caught by surprise this time.
“Oh my God, guys, what the hell?” He asked with a shocked expression that just made everyone in the bar laugh hard, as they started reaching out to hug him and say their birthday wishes.
In the midst of all that, Jay saw you smiling shyly on a corner and immediately knew who was the mastermind behind it all. That made him think of how, when you came into his life, you were like a sunshine ray that never darkened, making his hardest days easier and better. And you were even more now.
Jay Halstead had definitely made a lot of wrong, shitty, decisions throughout his life. On both personal and professional levels, they’d gotten him a lot of heartache. But dating you was for sure the one he got right.
