No prizes for guessing the main attributes of the late American character actor, Dana Elcar, that get my nuts twitching.
Yes, that's right: we're talking about his choice of three-piece suits...
Or could it possibly be that he was portly and bald? He was one of my early crushes. I watched him as Peter Thornton in MacGyver, taping every scene with him in it with that new-fangled video machine thingy.
As far as I remember, he did little other than look serious in a series of natty suits and ties, whilst Mac saved the day with nothing but a roll of gaffer tape and a pocket knife.
This is one of my favourites: there's something threatening about that half-smile and those eyes. He could have had me then. He could certainly have me if he were around now.
When RDA heard the producers where thinking about dropping the Pete Thornton character due to Dana's blindness RDA made his feelings clear to them that the show wouldn't' be the same without Dana in it. He then suggested that they could give Pete the same illness so Dana could continue playing the role.

Thematically complex and highly creative, this though-provoking and shocking sci-fi horror story finds humor in the death of a long term relationship.
Thematically complex and highly creative, writer-director Dane Elcar‘s low budget indie “Brightwood” finds humor in the death of a long term relationship by integrating elements of science fiction and horror. While it could use some significant editing to cut out a good chunk of filler, the film has a tightly-rooted premise that starts off as something that should be wacky and fun. The shock…
this syndicated rerun broadcast of the classic Spacetime Sally show had some technical difficulties. from the episode, "A Warm Blaster in the Cold of Space" (with special guest star, Dana Elcar, as Officer Hendle).
Screenshotted. A little bit of pop culture trivia: The large robot on the left there, Resistor-9, was remote controlled to perform a limited number of movements, nothing too extravagant. Even by mid-70s standards the effect was lacking in spectacle. The thing weighed a ton. Midway through shooting the episode, they're filming the scene where Dana Elcar gets really angry and trashes his desk; well, the Resistor-9 operator misses his cue, panics, hits the wrong button, the thing lifts its leg, comes right down on Vivian Larsen's foot, breaking it. The rest of the shoot had to be creatively filmed around the broken foot which can be obvious in some scenes, most noticeably during the bodega scene where there's an obvious limp. Larsen, of course, forgave the robot operator, but Murray Katzen fired him anyway.
