(So here’s my 2nd attempt on fancasting for TSHOEH. Once again, I picked the actors/actresses based on their “vibe” and a few of their physical characteristics that matches some of the descriptions written in the book. Also I’m just so impatient now because it’s 2023 and we still don’t have any news on the casting. Like it is stressing me out lol. Just hoping they get it RIGHT!)

Evelyn Hugo - Adria Arjona

A atriz, que iniciou sua carreira muito jovem e com muita dificuldade alcançou o sucesso, sempre estave sob os holofotes — Seja protagonizando um filme vencedor do Oscar, um escândalo ou simplesmente aparecendo com um novo marido... Que até aquele momento, era o sétimo, pra ser mais exata. Prestes a completar seus 80 anos, a atriz decide contar sua verdadeira história, — aquela que ficou por debaixo do tapete durante toda sua carreira — mas isso com apenas uma exigência; que Monique Grant, uma jornalista até então desconhecida no seu ramo, fosse a sua entrevistadora. Ao embarcar nessa jornada, Monique vê que nada na vida da atriz foi realmente mostrado ao mundo e, principalmente, que nada é por acaso.

O livro em si trás a tona diversidade, mas ao mesmo tempo o preconceito que era praticado e normalizado na época, já que se tratava dos anos 60. Existia diversos conflitos internos entre o casal, sendo um deles o fato de Evelyn sempre colocar sua carreira acima de tudo e todos, além de, pela época vivida havia muito preconceito no mundo contra os membros da comunidade LGBT, mas também continha o preconceito interno dentro do casal, ja que dentro da história, diversas vezes pôde ser visto ambas proferindo frases lesbofobicas ou bifobicas uma para a outra. As diversas brigas entre as duas, onde ambas saiam extremamente machucadas, levaram elas a se separarem e se reencontrarem apenas anos depois, quando se casaram escondidas do mundo e viveram cerca de 1 década unidas antes que Célia morresse de insuficiência respiratória. Evelyn se arrependeu pelo resto da vida por não ter ido atrás de sua amada antes.

O livro os setes maridos de Evelyn Hugo, foi uma obra que me tocou profundamente, pois se trata de uma história extremamente bem escrita, intrigante e que trata do amor de uma forma real e desmascarada, onde duas mulheres estão aprendendo a se amarem, a resolverem seus problemas internos e externos, e apesar dos problemas entre si, jamais deixaram de se amar... mesmo que o final tenha sido trágico de certa forma. Evelyn termina sua entrevista com Monique dando indícios de que terminaria com sua própria vida, já que havia perdido todas as pessoas as quais amava, e isso incluia sua filha. Dito e feito.

Wanted to pop in and say that I read this is how you lose the time war and the seven husbands (well, i skipped some parts tbh. I'll read them later. I mostly read it for fanfic purposes lol) and both books gave me so much feels 😭

I now agree with your takes on harry/evelyn being the best brotp ever. Evelyn and Celia have a beautiful love story but the unconditional platonic bond between those two was so special! And the part with the two marriages being each other's beards? 😭 Glad that's where the book ended lol. That's where it ended, right? Right?

I'm scared for how Netflix is gonna handle the adaptation tbh but who isn't?

And red and blue as enemies to lovers? I died. I think it was the best book I've read in a long time. So beautiful! I'm gonna re-read it asap even though I finished it like days ago. I literally teared up at times from how lovely the style and the pining were 💔

I knowww I just really hope Netflix don't botch the film, as much as I think it should still have been a series! I need it to capture what is so beautiful about E x H platonic love story as much as E x C, which could be so easily botched.
