#GENDER TRANSMOGRIFICATION

I’m just going to put this out there because I was going to write a proper fic but it’s look like that’s not going to work out so I just want to ramble about some ideas for a bit. For the purposes of this little post, I’m just sort ignoring anything that has happened in campaign 3 and things attached to the plot line, mostly becayse we don’t know where going to happen in the end yet. All things said here just sort of assume none of that all happens. Just in case.
So, at some point in time, Essek comes to a sort of realization that he’s… being stupid. He can’t effect real change to atone for his wrongs as a transient on the run from the government. It’s just punishing himself, his friends, and his boyfriend, and he doesn’t want to do it anymore. He wants to get Transmogrification cast on him, but he’s worried that he still might be caught, the people who would seek him out have magic to look in his mind if they suspect his new form. They might need to fake his death.
And then Caleb is like: well, we don’t have to fake it at all.
Because Caleb has a copy of Clone. And so a plan is made, they’ll grow a new Essek, make a spare spell book, and a new spell book to match the his new identity they are crafting, and when the year is up, the Nein will turn Essek in for treason. He’ll get executed, and once he wakes in his fresh pod body, they’ll escort him to the spell circle to start his new life.
The comedy potential in the planning stages for his new identity and form is great. Angst too.
After Essek picks his new name, he starts to insist they start to call him by it almost exclusively, and the Nein don’t want to, that seems weird. Essek’s insistence that he’d only had the name Essek for 30 years, he was barely used to it in the first place, it was no big deal and den members change names all the name because for many reasons, it soothes the M9, but also creates more questions. Like what was your Child Name, huh, hot boi? (He refuses to tell them as a point of pride. His child name was so silly!)
He and Caleb work very closely on his new form and there are disagreements:
On the angsty side: Essek puts forward that with some light modifications and a higher level of casting, they could also give the target the lifespan of the chosen race over the original. They could make him a human in his 30’s and they could spend the rest of both of their lives together. He doesn’t care about living a long time, just being with those he loves and atonning for his sins. Caleb refuses vehemently, that’d be paramount to killing Essek with his own hand and he refuses to do it. He makes him swear that he won’t do anything stupid when the Nein are all gone. He almost calls off the whole thing.
On the funny side: We have Essek, who as a member of a noble den had a through sex education that throughly covered gender and tried to prepare the young drow in early schooling that they could be in, or one day be in, a body much different from theirs. They try to ease they into the idea that might someday give birth, or might have already done so in a previous life. Gender and Body Dysmorphia are covered throughly. Gender is kind of bullshit to him. His form is kind of bullshit. He was acquainted with the fact his body might not always be or have been what it is at a very young age. He is largely unconcerned with how his new form will make HIM feel, he’d get used to it easy. He wants to know what Caleb would like.
Caleb, on the other hand, is trying to reduce body and gender dysmorphia as much as possible after his experience getting to know Nott/Veth. He’s trying to figure out how close they can get to the original without getting caught. To make it easier for Essek to adjust.
Caleb has absolutely no idea how to deal with Essek suggesting giving his new form a much larger penis (because he knows Caleb is a little bit of a size queen) or intersex body configurations (because Caleb likes both, right? He could very be both. He had some cousins that seemed very happy that were intersex or nonbinary.). He turns him down, explains why, but that doesn’t stop Essek’s brain train.
So naturally, when Essek asks if Caleb wants biological child and suggests they could just make him a woman if he did, the other man absolutely loses hugs shit and chokes on his tongue in shock. In take a long time to calm him down and the drow’s assurance that it wasn’t a big deal, he had a soul sibling (he actually used a weird drow word, but that’s what it meant) that his father gave birth to when he was woman and his mother was a man, they married into Den Mirimm to strengthen Den relations! Happened all the time! Did not in fact help Caleb much, he had several questions.
Just a lots of Essek taking the whole much less seriously than most of the Nein because of his upbringing.
They end up make him a male elf roughly his age with very tan skin. They make up a whole amnesia story, Fjord and Jester pretend to find him washed up on shore. They wait 4 months him and Caleb to ‘start dating’ and two months after that to move in, claiming a ‘whirlwind romance’. They are married within the year. (Because fuck them breaking up because of lifespan angst, that’s bullshit and I refuse to entertain it lol.) They get to be happy together and make the world better as a pair, a unit, and Essek continues their various cause they’d taken up well after Caleb dies an old man.

“Thorny, darling, yer still up?”
It was long after sunset, and they had been in bed for hours, but Thorn was still working, the pages of the journal illuminated by the pinprick of magical light coming from his finger.  Janus couldn’t move very fast with his heavy belly and the numerous pillows they had added to the bed to support him and the cub, but he made an effort to roll and face his husband.  Thorn turned another page in his book and nodded, scribbling something down.
“I think I have the details down,” he answered.  “Want to cast the spell as soon as I can.”
They were nearing the sixth month.  The time a normal orc pregnancy would be over.  Visits with Thorn’s mother had confirmed, the cub was nowhere near fully developed right now - firbolg slow, not orc quick, Janus reminded himself.  If Janus went into labor now, they could easily lose the child.  Thorn had been hard at work drafting a spell to do something that, as far as they could tell, no one had done before - trick the body into extending the pregnancy beyond its natural conclusion.
Janus trusted Thorn, and trusted his magic.  It had saved his life before, and it helped the people in their village every day.  They had promised they were going to do everything they could to give this cub the best shot at a good life, and Janus knew Thorn had taken that especially personally as a magic user in tune with a goddess of life and growth.  Lately he seemed close, looking into things like transmogrification spells, into the gender changing spells some used to transform or the medical magic that helped people regrow limbs, as well as ancient maternity magic his mother was a specialist in.
“When you think you’ll be ready?” Janus asked.
Thorn paused his reading for a moment, ears cocked as if he was hearing something far away.  Then he turned to face Janus.
“I’m ready right now,” Thorn said.
“What, really?” Janus said, surprised.  He was expecting a few more days at least.
“I’m at a point in my crafting that I’ll only know for certain it works by casting it,” he admitted.  “We could wait a few weeks and try it out on the goats before they kid for the summer but…”
“But you don’t know how long I’ve got left,” Janus finished, scooting his body up to a sitting position.  “Yer mother said cubs run a tight schedule.”
Thorn kissed Janus on the forehead.
“I can explain what the magic will do if that will ease any nervousness you may have,” whispered Thorn, though they were the only two here in the dark bedroom.  “I know it can be unnerving to trust untested magic.”
“I trust you with my life, and I trust you with our cub,” Janus answered, “...But it never hurts to know.”
“In simple terms,” Thorn began, “Science tells us that when a baby is almost ready to be born, the parent’s body is preparing to soften and stretch in places to assist with labor, and those changes eventually cause the baby to move into the birth canal.”  Janus nodded.  He still felt really new to all this, but at this point he had read many books on the subject.  “This spell will assure your body that it is not time yet for those preparations to begin, keeping your body as it is and delaying it for as long as we can while also allowing the baby to continue to grow.”
“So we’re sort of… extending the time in the oven,” Janus mused.  “To let the little one finish cooking.”
Thorn laughed.  “In a sense.  I also wove in enchantments to help with the pressure and pain,” he continued, “Since we’ll be pushing your body far past what your species is equipped to do.  And something to soothe your poor skin from getting too stretched out.”
Janus thought about the discolored stretch marks already appearing on his belly, and nodded.  If he was going to get bigger, there would certainly be more of them.
“If this works, you should immediately feel a difference in the tightness you’ve been feeling in your belly,” concluded Thorn, “and I will need to cast it every day or so to keep the enchantment going.  Right now we can be flexible with it, but the longer we cast it the more imperative it is that we keep the spell on a tight schedule so you don’t immediately go into labor as soon as it wears off.”
“And this won’t affect th’ cub?  Won’t freeze them up too?”
“The spell will not touch our cub at all,” Thorn assured.  “It’s a bit of a mess from out here determining where you start and the child begins, but the spell is tailored to target only you, and it knows you as well as I do.”
He felt confident that Thorn knew exactly what he was doing.  “Alright then, what do I need to do?”
Thorn shuffled some pillows so he could move forward on the bed, closer to the foot of it.  “Lie back a bit with your belly exposed.”
Janus did as he was instructed, pulling down the covers of the bed and pulling up the tunic he was sleeping in.  Once he was in place, Thorn placed both hands just above the belly button.
“Ready, my darling?”
“Ready.”
Thorn began to whisper in the breathy language of his people.  Janus had heard him use Sylvan a few times for religious ceremonies, and it always sounded as though the words were being carried away on a breeze.  But here in the darkness of their silent bedroom, those words seemed to hang in the air, still breathy and soft, but at the same time powerful and full of reverence.
As he spoke, Janus could see Thorn’s hands begin to glow with the sunlit-golden magic his family was known for, illuminating his belly through the night air.  It felt warm, and relaxing, and Janus found himself almost drifting off in the comfort of it.
He had no idea what Thorn was saying, he didn’t speak Sylvan, but he could feel the gravity of the magic and the intense love Thorn put into every word.  And when he was finished, Thorn leaned forward and gave the crest of Janus’ belly a gentle kiss.
From his lips spilled out a tendril of magic, almost like a vine, wrapping around Janus’ belly in a spiral pattern until the entire thing was covered.  It flared brightly, and then went out, leaving the two of them once again in the dark.
Instantly Janus noticed he felt different.  Lighter?  Less cramped.  It was hard to explain, but it was though he had loosened a belt that had been tightly buckled around the biggest part of him.
“Did it work?” Thorn asked, scrambling to rejoin his husband at the top of the bed.  “Did you feel it?”
“I felt it!” Janus said, amazed, “Feels like my body… relaxed a bit.”
“Wonderful,” Thorn said with a heavy sigh, and Janus realized his face was suddenly so tired,  “And I’ll be happy to keep casting it as we continue on, as long as you need it.  You both have my full and unwavering support, darling…”
It seemed for a moment that Thorn nodded off right there, and Janus had to pull him gently down into the bed to get him back to the pillow and under the covers.
This spell was most likely very powerful, he would have to remember to ask how much energy it took, since it would need to be cast every day,  But for now at the very least the relief and pride at the spell being cast properly had clearly washed over him, and Thorn needed to sleep.  Janus did too.  After being certain his husband was tucked in, Janus settled back into bed himself.
And he felt a new form of safety and warmth he had never experienced before settle over him like a blanket.

Well, I am an endless font of questions so let's see, I probably should stick to one vague area per ask to not turn this into a giant list. Big thing I have been turning around in my hand is the person carved out of god-flesh deciding to transition. How did he go about this? (More in the sense of something instant a la somehow getting a true polymorph or something more akin to real world via alchemy?) Did he have goals? *Realistic expectations*? Perhaps doubts? Does he tell himself it's his godhood calling to him, to self-mold? I think you see where the zipcode of the question is. Bonus: If he went the slow route, does he just murder people who don't respect pronouns?
YEEEEEAAAAH BALLARD TRANS TALK TIME LET'S GO
First a disclaimer; I am referring to Ballard in the past with he/him pronouns for my own ease of reference, not necessarily because he had that self reference. If asked, I don't think he would be able to point to a preference as to how he was referred to. His is not a story of 'oh I always knew I was a boy' so much as 'I always knew I was different and wrong' but that's almost more to do with being the incarnated son of murder than with gender!!
rest of the screed under the cut bc, surprising to no one, it's a doozy:
So, to re-establish and perhaps push further into some general points about Ballard's identity timeline:
age 6, murders a dozen or so members of House Halvyriin during the first dark urge. Sceleritas Fel shows up, greets him as 'my lady' but immediately backtracks to my young master/my lord. how does he know? I haven't the foggiest, even Ballard has not really grasped gender as a concept yet and so hasn't figured out he isn't what he's supposed to be--he doesn't even think of himself as a child, only ever either as a gift or a knife, because that's how he's heard himself referred to.
age 16 Ballard reaches his first menses, and basically riots. He has gotten some small version of the talk preparing him for it and loathes the concept entirely, is fearful of what it means for him and his role, knows he is lacking all of the necessary information to truly understand. a few hours of being referred to as a 'woman of the house, now' and he's ready to do murder--Sceleritas comes back to reaffirm there is a purpose for him outside of this house, and also to remind him that there is another option and he does not HAVE to be Daughter Halvyriin. Ballard basically says 'well there's no time to unpack that now' but it soothes the restlessness back into dormancy for like. another decade.
Everything starts to spiral between age 26 (after the first failed challenge) and 36 (the second challenge and the burning of House Halvyriin). This is entirely due to the presence and influence of Imton, the priest of Loviatar brought in to tutor Ballard on bearing pain with stoicism and inflicting violence with killing--also a sex worker, who becomes his first lover. Their first assignation goes very poorly, in that Imton, never informed otherwise, is operating under the assumption that he's bedding a young woman, and Ballard realizes very rapidly that that is Wrong. He realizes he can't ignore the divergence between his internals and externals any longer, and doesn't know what to do to SOLVE that, but comes clean about it all to Imton. After like. A month of agonizing, you know.
Imton being one of two sane non-Bhaalists Ballard knows, he is able to retrieve some information about transitioning from the surface (not a thing that is pursued in Menzoberranzan, of course). It's over the course of years and the literature is mismatched and has some gaps--surgeries, magical augmentations, permanent transmogrifications, alchemical assistives, some write-ups on clothing and voice training, the whole shebang, everything Imton can find. Ballard is going through it slowly prior to his flight from the Underdark, but is only able to change his clothing and his hair while he is there--there is, honestly, a kind of despair to KNOWING about all of these options, because he does not think he can ever leave, and that they will be forbidden to him forever, even should he win the next challenge and his adult autonomy. He can't let himself think about it, it is too dangerous to hope. It is only in the burning down of his old life that he can begin to think about building a new one.
Now.
There is a gap of (checking my timeline) 2 years in between the burning of House Halvyriin and Ballard's arrival in Baldur's Gate. It does not take two years to escape the Underdark. Ballard is pursuing social transition in this time, more or less--he's experimenting with presenting himself as male, seeing how that changes how people react to him, how they look at him, seeing what is convincing and what's suspicious. Only a portion of the time is in the Underdark, because he finds himself scared and overwhelmed to be socially regarded as a male in drow society. He wants to be regarded that way, he knows it's right, but the objectification and the harassment, the sexual overtures? He was protected from those, as Daughter Halvyriin, both by rank and perceived gender. He doesn't do well with them. Moving above ground shifts the balance of power back, and if it shifts his negative experience from sexism to racism then it just kind of underlines his inclination to remain aloof and unattached. But regardless, he does what he can with clothing and the timbre of his voice, picks his name out and introduces himself with it, and by the time he makes his way to Baldur's Gate he's convinced he needs to take additional steps.
Not wants to, though he does--needs to, because it still isn't right. Being perceived as Ballard, a man, Drowish and intimidating and concerning--not pretty, not beautiful, not yet, though someday he will remember this too is part of it--is a huge step, but now he looks at his reflection in the water and dingy glass and it fits even less well than before. He scowls at human men and the shadows of their beard, such an easy visual cue, but that will never be for him anyway, and it soothes some that the mannish elves he has traveled alongside also dodge the accusatory arrows of beardless femininity. He intensifies his training and workouts, focuses on building muscle as much as increasing his flexibility, strength visible and not just applicable.
"I saw a sculptor at work," he tells Sceleritas, in some dingy inn on the road, paid for by silver out of a dead mans pocket. The man's tongue was sharp and cruel, and his eyes were blind--now tongue and eyes all three are nailed to a tree by the road. "She had a great stone and she took her blade to it and she found the man hidden inside the stone. She knew he was in there, I think. I think there is a great deal of stone I still need to cut away, but I know he is in there."
"Your father sculpted you from his own flesh, baleful lord," Sceleritas repeats, as he does often, as he does always. "He has never had such a hand in creation or birth as with you, and it is an imperfect skill. You are only walking in his footsteps, and it is my job to walk with you. We will earn what we must to perfect the form."
I have a WIP on this topic, so I am not going to go very in-depth on this part but: finding the Temple of Bhaal when he reaches the Gate is a step back, in some ways. Sarevok terrifies Ballard, the way he's tied into the reproductive horror of Bhaal's spawn. It's an echo of the sexually charged fear he felt as man on his own in the Underdark, but reversed and wrong and made heavy and oppressive by the fear of keeping it a secret, that he too could be made a vessel to that end. Ballard's cautious and methodical nature is rushed--he has to make decisions for expediency, and is unable to really doubt or hold room for concerns or nervousness.
He doesn't know what to expect. Some of the papers Imton gave him, years and years ago at this point, they have pictures--but they're all sketches, they could be lying. The testimonies and interviews? No way to trust them. Magical HRT and gender-affirming surgery as it exists in Faerun exists, as I imagine it, in pockets, developed by those who are seeking it, made particular to their wills and desires and not necessarily accessible or helpful to others. There's no one chemist or alchemist or potion-seller who knows everything about transition and can easily determine the combination of ingredients and power to call for the desired affect. Ballard finds one he respects and approves of and brings them all his scraps, details and ideas and half-recipes, they put it together from there and it is a trial and error process. He spends a couple of years at the beginning, hormones at war with themselves, struggling to control his emotions and his dark urge, locking himself into irons deep below-ground whenever the time comes for his next dose. He takes copious notes, and if they are blood-stained when he brings him back to the chemist, they ask no questions but the relevant.
The spells are more straightforward, easily replicate-able as they are, but Ballard is not a magical person, he has very limited access to that kind of power--a handful of shadowy cantrips and what power he can borrow from his own body's energy--and does not trust it. A transfiguration will always feel like something that was done to him, and that can be undone. He wants permanence, he wants something tangible, so if he has to take this potion every two weeks for the rest of his life--at least he can see the changes as they build up, at least he can see himself still under them. He looks for a surgeon for years, and despairs of finding one he deems competent. In the end it is a collaborative effort--Ballard, propped up on a stone operating table, a careful cocktail of paralytics that keep his body steady and his brain keen and unadulterated. He cuts where he can, himself, and directs Sceleritas where he cannot. They pare the stone away to find the shape of him hidden beneath it, and if it is agony then it is because it matters. Everything that matters feels like dying.

It's so funny that the official widogast's transmogrification spell writeup includes an explicit caveat that it can also be used to change gender. Like it would be very strange to me if that wasn't the case but I guess it's nice we established Widogast's Gender Affirming Care

Day 13 of Turning me into Me
I'm still kinda riding on the high from yesterday, I'll be honest. That a total stranger would be so welcoming and loving and supportive of me. But anyway:
I may have mentioned already on here but if not, I've been compiling a list of the Clues I was Transgender (inspired by Charlie of socoollike fame). It has been very helpful for me, as someone who had conflicted feelings for a long time but didn't have the vocabulary to understand them at the time to be looking back and revisiting memories. There were so many times that I would have these moments where my whole self would just feel... its hard to explain. Almost like a hyper awareness of my self, it felt like a cold flush, a sudden grounding, and then the pull would start. In time, I would come to realise that that pull was yearning. Over time, I'll share these Clues, but for now I want to share a small one. This one, I feel, is testament to the idea that cis people don't really question their gender and identity in the way that trans people do.
On the 21st of October 2008, myself and my friends all came together over the same thing: Fable II. I adored Fable II, and played it to no end with them. Sometimes together but most of the time in parallel, all of us at different parts or using different characters. I was very used to making a male character when a game gives you control over it. I often used female hair styles for my character because they often only had the long hair options, but other than that, I'd just make a dude. But these games very rarely let you change something that big about your character, you pick a gender and thats it, no changing. But Fable II had a little secret.
If you managed to get Fairfax Castle, the most expensive property in the game, hidden within its bowels you'd find a coldly lit tomb with a stone pedestal at its centre. On that pedestal was a potion, and it was unlike any other potion. Well- first it shaped like a penis and balls, but what mainly made it different was that most potions are an action. Taking damage? Drink a potion. No mana for a spell? Drink a potion. Died? Drink. But this Potion of Transmogrification didn't act like any other potion. You don’t pick it up upon interacting with it and stow it away. Instead, it presented a choice.
Permanently change your gender or let the potion evaporate.
There was no save scumming here, drink it or leave it. My friends made a decision in a heartbeat, and laughed and joked, but it wasn't so easy for me to choose. I almost couldn’t. It was agonising how long it took me to choose. I felt that awareness, the cold flush, heigtened breathing, the sudden grounding, the pull. There was no fail state attached to this choice, and I didn't know why it was so hard to choose.
I chose to drink it, the change was instant... and I was actually annoyed because I wasn’t a pretty woman when I changed. How the hell I didn't realise fully then that I was trans, I don't know. But I think perhaps its worth playing it again. Properly, this time...
As a girl from the very beginning.

From a young age, Esther displayed intelligence, maturity and magic that was surpassed of Lunaris in their young adulthood which their family seemed it as promising for their to be a successful Lunaris. However, despite these qualities they had, Esther can be quite lethargic from conducting their own experimenting, researching and reading late into the night. Also, can be not being all that sunny at times.
Bio:
Esther, who was called Observer at the time, was born along with their twin brother Collector as child of six siblings. Observer’s family were part of a constellation or a royal court having Their parents, Rigel (Curator) and Asterope (Chronicler), as head of the constellation. From a young age, Observer displayed intelligence, maturity and magic that was surpassed whose in their young adulthood. Because of this, their parents sees Observer as a promising lunaris prodigy.
However, because of their constant attention from their parents, their older siblings, the Archivists, were jaundiced towards them. The Archivists avoided interacting with them and Collector as they can unless their parents asked to watch or play with them. Collector on the other hand, have gotten along fine with because of both being young at the time.
One day, around the age of four, Observer’s parents went on a collecting trip on a distant planet from their home, the Archives. However, as days turned into weeks, their older siblings started became concerned. Their parents never have a collecting trip taken so long. Three of the Archivists went to plant where their parents were collecting, while one stayed behind to watch over Observer and Collector. Few days later, the Archivists returned with sober news: Their parents are gone.
The Archivists gathered together in a room to discuss the situation while leaving Observer and Collector alone. Observer never got the concept of their parents being “gone”, neither did Collector. Observer assumed that their parents were done with their collecting and they missed the Archivists somehow. They were certain they be back home soon. But they never came home.
With their parents gone, the Archivists took charge of the constellation and began their duties as Archivists. Their first order of business were giving themselves actual names, other than be called by their purpose. Once they named themselves, they thought what names to give Observer and Collector. All agreed to give Observer the name Esther. As for Collector, they couldn’t think of a name for him. They agreed to find a name for him later.
Observer, now called Esther, was made to watch over Collector by his older siblings while they archive and catalogue life forms from worlds. Since Esther was the only one who was “willing” to play with him, Collector became quite clingy towards them. Hardly leaving their side, Collector watched Esther cook, read and wanted them to pay attention to him. Not only that, but occasionally Collector would cuddle Esther if they’ve fallen asleep. Collector even prefers to play games with Esther refer to due “chores.”
Esther wasn’t really bothered by this, they wish their older siblings just more responsible for caring for them.
Throughout the years, besides having to majority caring for Collector, Esther was forced to attend constellation gatherings to socialize with eclipses and solaces children in hopes of them joining one of their constellation one day. However, Esther despised the children. They found them ever self-centered, snobby or irritating to be around. They rather prefer to stay home to read or conduct their own research than to be surrounded by snobby brats.
They once requested the Archivists if Collector can attend constellation gatherings with them to make attending tolerable. However, the Archivists denied the request. They told Esther that Collector was not mature enough to attend the gatherings. But, Esther knew what they really meant that Collector could embarrass them by his behavior and would make it difficult to join constellations.
Ever since then, Esther slowly began to despise the Archivists. They doubted that the Archivists were ever see she and Collector as equals to them. But, that was soon to change.
Then one day unexpectedly, the Archivists decided it was time for Esther and Collector to begin their duties. Esther were a bit suspicious by their decision since they were be considered too young to begin his duties. Collector, on the other hand was excited. The Archivist informed them that they were going to an uncharted planet to collect life forms for the archives. They wasn’t sure if this was some sort of ruse or they were actually being serious.
Only one way to find out.

i don't have a good theoretical transition timeline post because i was basically gnc fem from age 11 to when i started hrt. it's more of the classic 'glow up' genre since it lacks the stark gender transmogrification

Project Dusk (Zenni)
Tumblr media
My Main Character and Primary Focus of the blog.
Background
Zenni was once a human, much like all the others a long time ago. But during the incursion of the great, universe devouring entity, That Which Corrupted, he was one of the ones who was genetically modified to survive its influence. Initially, the result was that of a stoat-like humanoid.
He was incredibly young when everything happened, including Project Dusk, the Project he was part of. A means of creating a perfect scout, infiltrator, and killer to specifically target those that have been influenced but not transformed by the Entity. The process involved splicing his genetic code with those of the Living Shadows, discovered by his father, Anarak.
It's painful...having your entire being rewrite and adjust itself into a more fluid state. The shadows are an endless swarm, with the ability to change and alter themselves at a near subatomic level. But it made him strong, very strong...and in the process he found a new Family in the Kin, what he calls the swarm. For the longest time he hated his father for doing this to him, but he has since accepted that it had to be done.
He works primarily as a scout, jumping between dimensions and realities using the Kin as a bridging point. They exist everywhere, always have and always will. For as long as there is darkness, they will be there. They are entangled, and he uses that to get wherever he needs to go.
His secondary role is an Assassin. While the Entity's core is trapped within their Universe, as it is incapable of moving on until everything is destroyed, its influence spreads slowly through breaches. His is contracted to kill any who may be corrupted by it, and take them out before it changes them completely. For once it gets hold of a place, it spreads quickly.
When off the clock, he likes to explore and make friends. Using one of his most prominent abilities, genetic transmogrification to fit into wherever he goes. Most recently, he used this ability to rewrite his genetic core, turning from a Stoat into a Raven.
Statistics
Age: 12 at the time of Project Dusk, slowed until the age of 26 where it completely stopped. Technically in his thousands at this point.
Gender: Male
Species: Living Shadow, Raven (Formerly Human)
Height: 6'3"
P.O.B: Infinatum Island, Alternate Earth
D.O.B: Classified
D.O.D: N/A
Sexual Orientation: Completely, one hundred percent Gay
Occupation: Scientist specializing in Biology and Genetics, Scout, Researcher, Assassin
Feather Colors:Various shades of Blue and Purple, ultraviolet.
Eye Color: Violet
Mentality: Intelligent, and generally calm and collected. Has some trauma that he usually suppresses. Develops personality quirks with various transformations, in particular Primal and Umbra. Likes to flirt with guys he considers cute, is generally very playful, but always willing to throw down when necessary.
Abilities and Capabilities
Through extensive training for his role, he's quite athletic, and adept in melee combat. He favors small blades, and hand-to-hand combat. Utilizing his flexibility and pliable physical nature to his advantage.
He inherited his intelligence from his father, as well as grew up in the greatest laboratory on Earth...at least before the universe ended. Technically it still is. He studies Biology and Genetics, and a little bit of biochemistry. But mostly, he uses his intellect to analyze his environment in order to perform his job.
Due to the nature of his body, while not indestructible, he cannot truly be killed. The organic core of his being is isolated away from his body, with just enough organic components keeping his body together. It almost functions more as an Avatar than anything else. One would have to erase all darkness in existence to get rid of him for good.
The Kin are his most prominent feature and essentially power. He is a part of the swarm, a part of the darkness itself. They have a hive mind, which formerly was very low on the intellectual scale...functioning almost entirely on instinct. But since his assimilation, he has elevated them to his own level. They listen to him, and they are his family, they are incredibly versatile.
The Kin
Living Shadows as they are called, discovered by Anarak during the studies his studies of a possible Universal Center, nearby where the entity eventually breached. They have been around since the beginning, a microscopic swarm that only existed to consume and survive. They are nigh infinite, and have long since adapted in various ways to thrive anywhere they need to.
They are a quantum entity, entangled with each other, anywhere and everywhere. They might not be in every fragment of darkness, but they can be in any fragment of darkness. And they exist in all universes.
They have changed since Assimilating Zenni, function more like an actual society with his influence. They trust him and obey him, and he keeps them safe. Using their natural abilities to interlink with themselves, he can hop from world to world, universe to universe. They can pool together to form semi-solid objects, or with enough focus even be hardened into full solidity. They are however, vulnerable to high-spectrum light, especially when focused and weaponized.
One of their most powerful abilities, due to their size, is to take something apart at a near atomic level, either consuming it, or altering it. This is how he transforms, reconfiguring his cellular and genetic structure to take on new forms. It used to be incredibly painful, but he's long since become accustomed to the sensation. To do so, however, he does need a strong genetic sample of the creature he needs to turn into. This usually involves completely tearing it apart, and essentially consuming it.
He's developed many forms in his travels, to fit in with locals. The most notable of such are his various Pokemon Forms that he enjoys. And the most recent again being, his new true form, and avatar. But alongside those are the two extreme forces of his being, that came into existence through experimentation...and trauma. Primal and Umbra.
The Dark One, and the Primordial Beast
Umbra was the first one to come into play. A result of a shattered psyche, physical and mental trauma, and a desperate situation that put him on the brink. Umbra is what happens when his mind shuts down, and the suppressed instincts of the swarm take hold. Pure, unadulterated, all consuming darkness incarnate. Powerful, unkillable, and violent. With the sole goal of killing and devouring. It's rare that it takes hold, and it can only be stopped by a powerful source of UV energy, or Nova Energy. Descartes acts as a primary stopping force when he breaks free.
Primal came into existence through experimentation with the Genetic Awakening process that altered humans for the survival of the Entity. Primordial Regression, tapping into dormant genes in order to effectively, reverse evolve into a more powerful version of oneself. Primal exists as the Primordial Version of his original self however, a prehistoric stoat creature with unique traits.
Unlike Umbra, Primal and Zenni's minds are more closely aligned, due to him simply being an ancient version of himself. However, they are still independent of each other. The large stoat tends to be more brash and abrasive, a more extreme of Zenni's dominant personality. He likes fighting, flirting, and then some.
An effect of the Regression process, partially disconnects him from the Kin. As the genetic code isn't quite the same as what they assimilated. The result being that he's much more organic than he is normally, and thus more vulnerable to normal forms of damage. However, his core is still isolated.
A unique trait that he has is the Berserker Gene. An enhancement capability that causes him to grow larger, and stronger, the more damage he takes. But it also makes him become more and more feral and destructive the further along he gets. He tries not to reach the breaking point, as due to his vulnerability, it's more likely for Umbra to take hold under duress.
Primal is most often seen in the form of an Obstagoon, working out and having fun. Or flirting with anyone he has even the slightest interest in. He's almost as active as Zenni himself, though obviously they can't share the same space.
What it's like now
Zenni simply continues to travel, make friends, and live his essentially eternal life. The fight continues back home, and contracts crop up from time to time. But for the most part, he just gets to do what he wants.

Feminism; the simulacrum of gender transmogrification. To transmogrify, essentially, purports a strangely comical or stupefying transformation. I think the description apt. It equals its density by way of accurate gravity and conveyance.
Someway or the other, a woman is bound to be a feminist at some point for reasons known to her. Selfless or selfish as her purpose might be to espouse the…

Guide To Transmogrification Resources
You just spent 13,000 dollars on an outfit of purple boots. It's not the quality of purple, but it is the color. What? It perfectly match the subtle details of your shoulders in tier 2. Maybe not perfect but it's close enough. Perhaps you can find something even more suited. Better go look again.
We get it. You're addicted to transmogrification. Your void storage is packed with items you've never worn since level 9 and your friends are planning to stage an attack. You want more -- no, you're in need of more. We're here to assist you. Like a friend who gives you a bowl of her famous marshmallow chocolate chunk cookies just two days after you start a diet, we've compiled an inventory of transmogrification resources you can use in getting your next fix -- I mean, outfit.
Gear guides and databases
Many websites provide comprehensive visual guides that will allow you to look at the way an item appears.
Icy Veins Transmogrification Guides Choose your class, decide what gear slot you're looking to fill, then bask in the wonder of having every single gear model you could possibly want to use before you in a quick, easy manner. Click the icon to view a larger image of the Wowhead link. You can also browse sets of tiers.
Wowhead Transmog Sets See gear organized by set. More than just Tier gear, any set of items with a similar name is showcased in addition.
World of Wardrobes The best part about World of Wardrobes is that you can browse pieces of equipment according to their color. Mccainsource.com Are you in search of an orange mail belt? This site will help you quickly find it.
Addons
Although there aren’t many, there are a few add-ons available that can help players with transmogrification.
MogIt It is similar to databases on the internet and lets you see the same data from your game client.
LooksBetterOnYou lets you see your gear in the Dressing Room on one of your characters or an alternate model that you like. This is a great option if you are looking to switch your race or shop at the Auction House with your main.
AutoSheath automatically removes your character's weapons to ensure they are visible. Ideal for casters who can traverse six tiers without holding their weapon.
Blogs
Overwhelmed by all the possible options? Not very good with making an outfit of your own? No problem! There are many websites and blogs for players that allow you to match unique outfits, just like WoW Insider does each week.
Kirina's Closet This WoW fashion blog was written before the transmogrification. A classic.
WoW Roleplay Gear While not every outfit for roleplaying can be transformed into a transmogrification costume but most can be modified. This is one of the best sites out there for roleplaying outfits.
Transmog Fashion Updated several times daily, this site features the transmogged outfits from random players across the servers. It's like street fashion photography in WoW. It's updated by a script that uses WoW Community Platform APIs.
Go Mog Yourself is more than a blog about how you can make outfits. The creators of Go Mog Yourself share the details and the process of creating an outfit that is completely new.
The Transmog Blog The Transmog Blog has no recent updates, however there is an excellent backlog of outfits.
WoW: Fashion Here's a simple, frequently updated transmog blog. You'll find a broad range of outfits for every type of armor, gender, race, and age.
Miscellaneous
Reddit Transmogrification Need somewhere to showcase your latest creations with similar players? Want feedback on a new outfit or help finishing one you can't quite connect? Send a photo of your outfit to this subreddit.
WoW Model Viewer for the more technical, WoW Model Viewer uses your World of Warcraft game client to display any character model of your specification.
Mog-My-Gear If you're absolutely clueless this site provides free design services. It's almost like having a personal stylist, but you have to source the gear. Mog-My-Gear will create a custom look for you based on your preferences. The gallery of previously designed outfits is quite impressive.
Are you interested in having your site on this list? If you've got a distinctive visual guide, community, blog or other addon that's included, send a link to dawn@wowinsider.
Patch 4.3 allows you to transmogrify your gear to appear like the other gear your class can wear, however, you must find it first. Read our article on transmogrification and then start exploring the old dungeons!

Hi! I was wondering if trans people in the Wayfarer universe typically use magic for transitioning, and if that makes gender a bit more fluid in the general populace? Would that make trans Wayfarer's the only ones with, say, top surgery scars? That sort of thing would had to have been done before the Spire fell, obviously...
I've been thinking about this too much 😅
Hi!
Magic is typically used for transition, yes. Transmogrification can shape the body to be whatever the practitioner or person wants (it's the same kind of magic that Nova uses to change her hair colour in Chapter 1). Surgeons do exist, so other folks may use a surgeon in addition to curative magic (to avoid scarring). Wayfarers and other magically immune people can't use magic to this end, but there are non-magic, surgical alternatives for them (not trans-related, but I have a couple asks about medical magic here and here).
Gender is this world is conceptually a little different from gender in our own. While there are some instances of gendered language, there aren't any strong associations with "masculine" and "feminine", and gender roles don't exist. Children are typically regarded as gender neutral until around ages 8-14, and then they decide how they want to identify. Adults experimenting or changing their gender identity at any stage in life is common as well. It's not a big deal, it's part of life.
Some folks may want to change elements of their appearance of body, others may not; it's viewed as a separate kind of thing. Hypatia (one of Felix's moms), for example, is content with her body the way it is and doesn't want to change anything medically. Melchior has changed his appearance and gender identity multiple times over the years. He's quite different now from how he appeared a few centuries back.
