hey jsyk while hellofresh is dummy expensive and i wouldn’t recommend it if you already know how to cook (if you’re a beginner like i was when i had it for 3 months, then it’s worth it), you should know that ALL OF THEIR RECIPES are free on their website and they all fuck hard

i will say that all the cooking instructions for veggies are pretty much the same (season with salt + pepper and roast on the top oven rack at 425F), but if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

that being said, it also introduced me to methods i wasn’t at all expecting. i would have never thought to use cream cheese in my meat sauce, and now all my friends are constantly asking me to make my special rigatoni.

Beef Meatballs & Savoury Thyme Gravy (HelloFresh)

The last dish from my HelloFresh order:

I was actually looking forward to this for the meatballs lol I really enjoyed the pork patties from the previous dish & I saw that the ingredients contained the same breadcrumbs so.. .

I had problems with the sweet potatoes & broccoli from last time (& also carrot from dish #1 the pasta). .. umm. . the snap peas in this one were. .. alright. I’d say they were on the ‘old’ end, meaning the shell is lackluster & just. .. I don’t know. .. old! I didn’t have to throw any away but the umm.. . a lot of work was needed for the snap peas. Not only do you have to wash them but you also have to peel the fibre strand from both edges of EACH pea. For someone without long nails. .. it was quite the task, I tell you.

Again, I changed up some stuff. ..

Air fryer potatoes. The potatoes were of excellent quality! No little roots, no evidence of being crashed. The thyme, though. .. =/  ughhh so tedious to de-leaf, you know what I’m saying. I’d say more work is needed for the prep than the actual cooking for this dish.

The meatballs......... Omg >.< so much waterrrrrrrr! What is going on? I’m not sure where the water content came from. Umm.. . I don’t know! I honestly don’t know. Someone provide me with an answer. .....

The peas. .. I literally just throw them into this same pan bcos . .. why not? The meatballs were already ruined. So I put in all the peas & just let them all cook on medium heat.

Doesn’t look bad. .. (no gravy-making picture but essentially mix all the things with water & simmer till onions are cooked!).

The potatoes were the BEST part of this dish. I wished they gave me more. ..

Umm. .. This was also a ‘miss’ for me. 4/10! Prep took unnecessarily long with the thyme & snap peas. The meatballs were. .. ughhh. The gravy was alright but I liked the pork patty sauce more bcos that one didn’t have the parsley. Honestly, only the potatoes were good & I didn’t even make it using the proposed method lol So yeah. .. 4/10........... EEEEEK!!!
