#something is very obviously different about these two compared to my normal images on this blog. i acknowledge this #also the sv model is Really good. and since they always stare straight at the camera anyway… and no one pays attention to the background… #and the only high-quality phantump model i could find was so horribly shiny that its eyes were just white voids #in my defense‚ phantump always just stare straight at you in game #the lighting is different‚ yeah. that's probably the dead giveaway. beyond the background. but like. i'm the only being on the planet who #really likes phantump anyway. i feel like it's a generally forgettable pokémon to most folks #phantump #HELLO this one is a weird one. i have some explaining to do. so when i did this one i didn't know how to edit models really at all #and when i got the models for these‚ the xy models were super shiny. shiny to the point that it made their eyes fuckin invisible #and i decided that since you could barely tell it was phantump‚ i needed a different way to get these images #i remembered that in the SV dlc‚ every time you find a wild phantump‚ it just fucking. stares. at you. and i was like. aha #i kinda remembered because of the test stream that i did. tumblr user alligayytorr (am i getting the right amount of Ys) said #“haha i am getting a sneak peek” when i zoomed the camera in on a phantump. and i remembered that. and i was like. i can utilize this #and ended up using just an in-game screenshot of SV in replacement of the regular content. later on‚ after that #once we got into gen 7 and it became less and less reliable to find models‚ i had to learn how to edit them manually to remove the shine #i am a software dev. not a 3d modeler. this ended up coming down to editing the code of the models directly (which i ended up writing a #script to automate). now‚ today‚ january 22nd (the day of me writing these tags and updating this post)‚ i remembered this post was in the #queue and was not normal. so i went back‚ ran the script on the phantump and trevenant models‚ and unshinified them #then edited these two posts to be normal. i have left the original pictures i took under the cut for reference and as bonuses #because i really enjoy phantump. so that's why those images are there‚ and that's why these tags are here #just for posterity's sake‚ the folks who come here mostly for my commentary‚ i've left the ORIGINAL tags of the post when i initially #made it with the SV pictures up at the top (i wanted to rearrange them‚ but tumblr makes that Very difficult‚ so i left them as-is) #so if these tags are confusing to read i Apologize. but i hope now that you're at the bottom you understand what happened #i'm gonna go edit the trevenant post now

As I once said all the way back in 2019, you're not a proper explorer, adventurer, rescuer, bounty hunter, treasure hunter, or even healer without the proper gear. So I decided to try my hand at giving Rockruffmore something to wear.

The vast majority of Rockruff's movepool is physical moves, so I first tried giving him finger-er, clawless gloves in the upper right. Kinda basic I'll admit, but that wasn't my problem. The problem was that the small amount of whatever color I made them just didn't balance well with the bright blue of his fur.

Tried a cloak next, which helped balance the color palette now that there was more of that bluish purple to go around, but what got in the way now for the upper left and lower right versions was his neck floof. Thanks to his Growlithe "heritage," Ruffmore has more floof than normal, so drawing the collar/hood around or below the floof just made it look weird or like he was being choked by it.

Third time ended up being the charm; after looking at some fanart of other fluffy-collared 'mons like Eevee and Zorua, I opted to try drawing the collar directly on top of the floof for the lower left and middle. Sure, a lot of the floof is hidden now, but it looks alright and I think that Dal would personally prefer to wear something that covers the sharp rocks around his neck. He, uh... isn't a fan of those once he realizes what they are =w="

Another reason why he'd probably pick a cloak over anything else is because... well, dude misses wearing clothes, obviously. I don't think I need to elaborate further.

Guest star is the Jangmo-o from the four potential partners I drew for Ruffmore. Never really decided on a name or even gender for this character, but I have been calling them "J" as a weak attempt at a nickname. Mostly because J (alternatively spelled "Jay") is faster and easier to say than Jangmo-o XD

And if they ended up being Ruffmore's partner, he'd call them the same thing until he learned their actual name. =w=

Despite just how many outbreaks I did, and it was many, my first Scarlet shiny was this random full odds Rolycoly! I named him Olie (after Rolie Polie Olie) and he’s my little man and I love him loads! Since I drew this he’s evolved into a Coalossal and caught up in levels to the rest of my team, if I let him I think he’d solo the next gym leader lol

#skrelp #i shiny hunted this thing in sv. after i got Properly Into shiny hunting. it was the third-to-last pokémon i shiny hunted for my #all-shiny-dragon-types team. which ended up being dragalge‚ dragapult‚ kommo-o‚ noivern‚ flygon‚ and archaludon #and then i just. stopped. shiny hunting. there are other pokémon i would like to shiny hunt like shroomish but i don't have a ton of #motivation to since i beat the game basically. completed all the pokédexes and finished the story so getting shinies is like. well #what am i gonna use them for. why have them #guess i need to look for another game to play. what's next on the backlog… #i tried mirror's edge since that was on my backlog but i couldn't really get a grip on the controls and got frustrated after about 30 mins #so that didn't work. probably gonna have to play something else turn-based. i like turn-based and strategy games #where i don't have to have insane reaction time in order to play it #NOT you‚ yakuza like a dragon. I didn't get many pics of the Elite four because oops my SD card was full... but I went with an all-shiny team, and Teal the Quaxly played their part admirably!

Full team was Resh the Ceruledge, Mint the Decidueye, Egg the Altaria, Popsicle the Eiscue, Nori the Dragonite and ye, Teal the Quaxly.

Re-injured Arven's dog and made a point of beating Skeledirge with Quaxly.

Even if I was a lil cheap and used Substitute to make sure Teal would be fine.
