thinking yet again about Saiki‘s’s final choice in the series being “I’d rather live with my powers than die without them” bc that is seriously the single best ending of a disability narrative I’ve seen. Fuck.

#The thing people don’t tell u about being physically disabled #Is that you’ll see the physically abled people in your life start to view you as something tragic #And while they rarely say it when it comes down to things #They think you’re better dead than disabled. That you’d be happier put out of your misery. #Even with stories involving disabled characters (If we’re anything beyond a background diversity shot which is… rare) #It’s about “curing” or “overcoming” your disability which is I guess a nice sentiment but most of us won’t ever do that #Saiki doesn’t do either of those things #He wants to be cured and briefly thinks he is but then it’s discovered that he Cant be cured bc his powers are part of the whole of him #He doesn’t ever overcome them either #He just puts his glasses back on and decides that if it means he can live another day then he’ll continue to deal with them #And his powers are progressive #And that’s a thing weighing on him but it’s never treated like a death sentence #It’s just something he has to and will deal with #And it sucks but what else is he gonna do #It’s just. Mild life update:

Everything is still going pretty terrible. My partner and I are examining one of two options we have and haven’t decided what exactly were going to do. There’s just a lot going on out of my control and I live every day in constant anxiety and worry, so if I haven’t been posting or talking much, that’s why.

I would love to just…..go off and do what I want to do with my life but it’s difficult rn and I’m worried about too many members of my family. So yep, I’m sorry for not answering stuff. I’ve been in a horrible depressive fog that is only being made worse and I keep trying to hold out hope but it feels almost impossible

#honestly we’re torn between throwing our money into a house #but there’s nothing affordable on the market rn that isn’t half falling down #OR #starting to do hot shot driving #it’s the option I would love to do #but the startup is pricey and I feel bad asking for money #so idk I guess we’ll see what happens

Like three of my coworkers in the past month have tested positive for covid, every day I see new ppl on my dash mentioning that they’ve caught covid, every day I see and hear from ppl who have come down w something that looks like covid but the test came back negative but also they can only afford to test once bc tests aren’t free anymore and the more accurate tests are also more expensive so there’s no way to know if it was a false negative, and yet nobody masks anymore. hell world hell world
