Once and Future Royalty
Just, stay with me on this one. I know its going to look crazy at the start, but trust me, I know where I'm going.
Tumblr media
It all started with the 537AD scene in Wessex in the opening montage of "Hard Times," S1E3. Yeah, the one where Aziraphale is supposed to be a knight of the Round Table and Crowley is role-playing the Black Knight, and they are both so super-squeaky shiny clean - not a speck of dirt or mud on them. wtf! It looks out of place, unrealistic, and was bugging the crap out of me, like a stone in your shoe. It just didn't fit. I mean, why put a myth, a legend, into that sequence? Oh, OK, yeah, the preceding stories from the Bible, like the Garden of Eden and the Flood, aren't "myths" as well, you say? Hmm. In the context of the Good Omens AU, being a biblical based story, they belong there far more than the legend of King Arthur.
King Arthur, who supposedly united Britain under his rule during the late 5th century and early 6th century, was shown to have the divine right to rule by wielding the mighty sword Excalibur. Some stories tell of Arthur pulling Excalibur from a stone. Some tell of him receiving Excalibur from the Lady of the Lake. Either way, it was bestowed upon him by divine grace. Despite his triumph in battle, he left no heirs, as his queen, the fair Guinevere, was barren. She had a long-running love affair with the greatest knight of the court, Sir Lancelot, but despite this being an open secret in court Arthur would not put her aside. The knights of the Round Table in the court of Camelot were near-paragons of Christian virtue, and there are many tales of their search for the Holy Grail, the cup from the Last Supper of Jesus Christ.
In the end, mortally wounded in battle, Arthur was taken away for healing, and never seen again. It was said he would return when Britain was at it most direst hour to save the day once more. A "messianic" return.
The Once and Future King.
Now, I'm no Arthurian novice; I drank up all of T. H. White as a teenager, read the Dark is Rising multiple times, Marion Zimmer Bradley's interpretation and what ever else I could lay my hands on for a good couple of decades. And there is LOTS of King Arthur stuff around. You are not left wanting for anything new to read or consume. And I'll bet there are a fair few of you also out there who know a quite bit about the legend as well. Oh, and I can't tell you how many times I have watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I still walk around quoting it day-to-day, like the good little Gen-Xer I am, having grown up on that stuff. So I really should have listened to my intuition when bits of Monty Python kept popping up in my brain in response to other parts of GO I was thinking about. (Staaay, I said, stay with me here....)
Tumblr media
I kept chewing away furiously on the Wessex problem, growling in feral frustration at it, but also kept reading and sorting out some other ideas and metas at the same time. Eventually I found the key in a tiny little post, about a small detail in the 1941 Blitz episode S2E4, of all places. I wanted to slap myself with how much was staring me in the face so obviously once the door opened. And the damn beauty of it is, that I already written about some it, out of context, without knowing the why.
OK. Where to start this journey...hmmm, back to Monty Python, because, guess what - the Wessex scene is actually riffing off one the more famous skits out the the Holy Grail. The scene is a masterpiece of political satire, from start to finish, but the relevant part here is this sequence:
Tumblr media
In case you missed the salient points: Arthur claims he is king by divine providence, because he was given Excalibur by the Lady of the Lake. Dennis the peasant protests this waterlogged method of determination, mentioning ponds, watery tarts and a moistened... well, I hope you get the idea about where this is going.
Meanwhile, in 537AD, Wessex, as the mist swirls around them:
Tumblr media
"It is a bit damp," complains a shiny silver Aziraphale.
Yes, Excalibur would be a bit damp after it emerged from the Lake. (vidavalor! Get your mind out of the gutter! I'm trying to have a serious discussion here! Please! And I wasn't even going to go anywhere near what the sword in the stone is really meant to be referring to...it's not even relevant to the discussion at hand, I swear! Well, there is going to be sexual relations mentioned but - oh, never mind...)
Tumblr media
Right. Where were we. Lets leave those super-clean elite pretendy knights to swim off through the swirling mist back to their dry homes to write and file reports to head office, along with Patsy and the hired Igors, and Dennis can keep playing in his lovely muddy filth after he finishes protesting being repressed by the divinely-deluded Arthur. I've got a bit more to say about what Aziraphale and Crowley might represent here later but you need some more context first, so lets move on. I just needed to show you the first bit so you can see the Arthurian theme stretches across both S1 and S2, and will likely appear in S3 as well. More about that towards the end.
Ah, before I forget...another ref from the Holy Grail we need to cover:
Tumblr media
This GIF, unfortunately, doesn't have the full exchange between the peasants, which is this:
P1: "Who's that then?" P2: "I don't know. Must be a king." P1: "How can you tell?" P2: "Because he doesn't have any shit on him."
Ah. Er. OH!
Have you made the connection?
Who have I been emphasizing as being unusually clean in their Arthurian setting? That's right, Aziraphale and Crowley.
What's this implying? That they are royalty. Celestial royalty. Maybe not kings, but how about princes? You know how we've been discussing whether Crowley was a once at least an Archangel, and there is even a hint that he was a fallen prince of Heaven given during the replay of Gabriel's trial? (Not the prince, but a prince - a seraphim) And that Aziraphale may have once been Raphael, and may be again in the future? Once and future royalty. To me it adds weight to the past discussion, and helps to explain the assumed authority expressed in these two scenes here: On the left, Aziraphale takes control inside the book shop as the angels and demons argue who is going to punish Gabriel and Beelzebub (finally found it after several months!) and on the right, Crowley is shouting at the assembling demons in the street that they are "out of order."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Onward, Patsy. (I hope you're still with me.)
1941, the Blitz part 2, minisode.
We've found Excalibur! On to Camelot!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Edit note: I've added a few GIFs and screen shots into the sequence of parallels above because I was thinking over a few things since I posted and felt this actually sat better. To try and explain, as they don't exactly match as I would like, in the Holy Grail movie, King Arthur and the knights he has gathered rock up at the foot of Camelot and gaze up in awe at it. "Camelot!" Arthur declares to the party. "Camelot!" Galahad echoes in excitement. And a third "Camelot!" comes from Lancelot. What do we get in GO? Aziraphale leaps out of the Bentley (Crowley's black horse) and declares "The theater! Sophocles! Shakespeare!" I swear, if you put the two side by side, they would match. It's not just a reminder of how much time Aziraphale has seen pass by, or that we are seeing a tragedy play out. But damn it, I could so just see Aziraphale attending a Sophocles performance in Athens back in the day...]
Camelot was King Arthur's castle and home of his court. In S2 of GO the Windmill Theater is established as our court of Camelot where our 1941 Blitz-era Arthurian drama is to play out, involving Furfur and the zombies.
Tumblr media
Yes, poor old Furfur. Two's company, three's a crowd, as they say. Now we know we're in Camelot, we need to be reminded of the central tragedy of the Arthurian story, that ultimately led to the golden kingdom's fall. Lady Guinevere, Arthur's queen, famously loved Sir Lancelot, and the two were passionate lovers. It was essentially a love-triangle at the top, with Arthur being jilted, but he wouldn't/couldn't discard his queen. Where do we see this playing out in 1941?
Furfur, pleased with himself for catching an angel and a demon in the act of consorting together (with the help of the zombies,) barges into the backstage dressing room, and confronts the lovers with their crime. But who is playing who in the Arthurian love triangle? I would say Furfur is clearly caught in the role of Arthur here. Consider the following exchange:
FURFUR: Hmm, well, well, well… What have we here? AZIRAPHALE: Sorry, have we met? FURFUR: Oh, no, you never had the pleasure, but… we have, haven't we? CROWLEY: Have we? FURFUR: What do you mean "have we?" You know we have. We were in the same legion. Just before the Fall. Doing dubious battle on the plains of Heaven. Remember? CROWLEY: I remember going into battle, I don't remember being there with you. Sorry. FURFUR: I was right next to you. We did loads together. You use to jump on me back, little monkey in the waistcoat. Anyway, whether you do or whether you don't, it doesn't matter. I'm here to inform you, as a representative of the Higher Powers of Hell, that you, Crowley, are in breach of the Infernal Code. Consulting and collaborating with an angel, Fell the Marvelous, aka… [opens book] Azirapalala. Azirapapap. Aziphapalala. AZIRAPHALE: [annoyed] Aziraphale
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Furfur claims a past intimate relationship with Crowley, which Crowley spurns offhandedly. Crowley is playing Guinevere here, jilting Furfur/Arthur, which leaves the demon-smiting Aziraphale standing in for the handsome hero Lancelot (with his French connections, no less), and doesn't he make us weak at the knees when he drops his voice an octave in dominating disgust. (Is it suddenly getting hot in here...? Phew!)
Interestingly, looking back in S1 at 537AD Wessex, though, I would say that Crowley was Lancelot as the Black Knight, a role that Lancelot sometimes played in the legends, and Aziraphale would then be the fair maiden Guinevere. It certainly plays into Crowley's long term role of playing the knight who comes to the rescue of Aziraphale's princess in distress. Excalibur was no where in sight, perhaps still beneath the waters of the lake. Nor Arthur. Perhaps it was still too early in the story then...
I had originally suggested in my very first post that Furfur was given a stag as his demon avatar because he was wearing horns for being cuckolded by Crowley. But I wasn't quite thinking about it in context with the Arthurian legend! The stag is also often associated with royalty, plus while wandering around the medieval bestiary website that someone linked to, it interestingly notes that the enemy of the snake is the stag and the stork (Shax's avatar.) Ah ha!
Tumblr media
So how can we extrapolate this knowledge into a possible appearance of the Arthurian theme in S3?
Will we see the love triangle of Arthur/Guinevere/Lancelot come back into play and cause more chaos? I'm wondering if it might have something to do with the Fall.
Or will our lovers bring down a divinely-appointed ruler via their committed behind-the-back defiance of expected propriety?
Will Excalibur appear from beneath the waters, perhaps in another form, to declare a new king?
Could it even be a combination Jesus/Arthur, King of the World, returned? And they turn out to be a very naughty boy, disappearing into the night clubs of Times Square, New York, and that's how they lose him? (Social media viral sensation, anyone?)
I wouldn't be half-surprised if Greasy Johnson's name turns out to be Arthur, actually.
And no, I haven't forgotten that Adam's dad was named Arthur as well.
Bring on S3!
**Bonus**
If you've made it this far and you're thinking:
Tumblr media
Let me leave you with this last connection.
In the back stage change room, remember Furfur delivers these lines:
FURFUR: What do you mean "have we?" You know we have. We were in the same legion. Just before the Fall. Doing dubious battle on the plains of Heaven. Remember?
On the first level, he is referring the Great War in the Good Omens AU.
On the second level, Furfur is paraphrasing Milton's Paradise Lost.
On a third level, I can (and will in a future meta) connect this back to the training initiative paintball fight at Tadfield Manor in S1.
And even deeper on a fourth level, if you do know the Holy Grail movie well, you'll remember there is an odd little subplot in it, that infers that the whole King Arthur and his knights thing is merely a full-on violent cosplay that is murderously rampaging across the countryside in the present day with the police in hot pursuit. It's a strange juxtaposition between reality and dream, and you aren't quite sure what it is real or not. The ending is bizarrely and abruptly surreal as the two story lines collide in the heat of battle, as the police turn up and arrest the combatants. A bit like this:

Can we have some of your personal style headcanons?
Why yes, dear anon, you absolutely can!
I'll only share SFW ones here, but if you're interested in NSFW ones please let me know d(・∀・○)
This also contains some mild spoilers for the fic I'm currently working on - NOT The Song of Broflovski. If you'd rather go into that totally blind, then maybe skip this answer. Otherwise, read on!
Alright, so let's start from the beginning. I personally write Kyle as figuring out his feelings first, while Stan acts on them first. Neither one is stoked on the idea of coming out (Stan for Randy-trauma related reasons, Kyle for Cartman-trauma related ones) so they don't publicly come out/start actually dating until late high school when they know they're about to skip town and move away to college.
That doesn't stop them from messing around of course, but I'll save that info for a NSFW drop. (¬‿¬)
I also really like the idea of their relationship not changing massively even after they've become an official couple. They still fight, they still do a lot of the same activities together, and they never really adopt any pet names outside of still calling one another 'dude' all the damn time. Just two straight dudes in love, honestly.
Kyle is Stan's #1 defender, and will go to war with douchebags in the comments of Stan's social media posts (hard headcanon him as still being a musician/leaning really hard into his passion for music. Crimson Dawn is definitely still a thing in the Asteriaverse). You dare to talk shit about Stanley Marsh on the internet?? In front of God and everyone?? Baby you're getting doxed. Bye.
He also just unironically loves the music Stan makes, with Crimson Dawn and otherwise. Like, shitty phone recording from a performance as his ringtone kinda love. I think Kyle would have pretty eclectic music taste in general, but I like the idea of them bonding over the kind of stuff Stan would want to make.
I like to think Stan is more of a bad/freeing influence on Kyle. My Kyle has a little bit of a stick up his ass, especially as he gets older and there's more pressure on him to excel in school. Stan really becomes the person that wraps him up in a blanket after a long day of studying, passes him a drink and puts on Monty Python so they both can just relax and have fun together.
And they're absolutely the guys at the party standing in the corner by the drinks, cracking jokes to one another while they watch everyone else make complete asses of themselves. Just in their own little world, until they get properly drunk and end up making out in a bathroom or some shit. Just messy bitches.
They simultaneously communicate extremely well and absolutely horribly. They have the kind of connection where one look says it all, but when it comes down to deeper issues and arguments they're both trash at communicating their feelings. Kyle gets too heated and just starts RANTING while Stan can barely articulate a singular feeling. Eventually Stan figures out that he kinda just has to let Kyle get his shit off his chest and eventually he'll calm down enough to help Stan sort out his feelings too, but those first couple years? Rough haha no smooth sailing for my boys I'm afraid.
Alright, I'm gonna stop here because I could probably sit here and talk about these losers all day. These are pretty surface level, both because I don't want to spoil too much and because I'm always forming new headcanons for them! Really specific ones usually come to me in the moment while I'm writing, so I'll definitely come up with more before this next project is finished!
Thank you very much for the ask!! ( ´⌣`ʃƪ)

she/her!
Tumblr media
interesting question! first, i think it's very special that you had the opportunity to study at an international university and i am glad to hear you had so many amazing experiences!
i also feel like i need to preface anything i say with... holidays are obviously different from living, and i hope people can trust that i wouldn't base an entire lifestyle decision off, like, being a fan of taskmaster lmao the state of politics, brexit, housing, prejudice, and more make it difficult to say i'd want to commit to life there — plus i really love new york city, where i do feel at home
that said, i would be open to living in the uk for a period of time, yes. i am certainly very motivated to visit a lot of places, particularly in england, and decided last year to start spending a month or two over there every year (this year i think i will be in york! maybe i can post a little about that if people care). the history and motivations behind that decision are really personal to me, but it feels...right. i am really looking forward to my time there this year and treasure being someone who works remotely and can make that happen
living permanently, it's hard to say, but speaking for my interests in history, architecture, art, cinema — it would be wonderful to explore those things more in person, yes!
Tumblr media
i really think in the 6+ years of this blog this is the first i've ever been asked about music! which makes sense ofc it just took me by surprise!
hmmm i think this playlist most accurately expresses what i'm listening to a lot of the time + a lot a lot a lot of classical music, some dad rock, and a few balladeers like judy garland and rufus wainwright
Tumblr media
i don't claim to be the world's biggest comedy buff or keep up the best with all of the comedy coming out of the uk and american industries — even though i do enjoy it so much! — but growing up i was very interested in comedy writing. in high school, i worked at a dvd store where people could trade in their old dvds for store credit to buy new ones, so we had a HUGE selection of not only new releases but older, sometimes nicher stuff that you typically wouldn't see at a suburban american blockbuster-like shop. i can't stress how formative this was! i would always go through the store and "beautify" the shelves (pulling all the spines up neatly, keeping everything alphabetised, etc) just to constantly look through what we had in stock, grab the old black bar criterion films before some movie buff snatched them up, touch all the special editions (physical releases were more than just steelbooks back then, like stuff like this). each of the employees had a little shelf in the back room where you could store dvds you wanted to buy when you eventually had the money, keeping them off the floor so no customer would see and buy them. i was always reserving 30+ dvds at a time and spent my whole paychecks at work hahaha
anyways, that's how i found a lot of the random british films i ended up loving — by people trading them in or me just running across them at the store: a cock and bull story, death at a funeral, this is england, gosford park, monty python, (particularly holy grail and life of brian), confetti (didn't love this one but it had a lot of actors i really liked in it so i remember watching it quite a few times) and more — but especially withnail and i and in the loop. i was fucking obsessed with in the loop, which i watched on a loop (zing!) and was ultimately how i worked my way backwards to the thick of it as well as shows like the office uk, alan partridge, green wing, fry and laurie, peep show, and more. (the thick of it and peep show were particularly everything to me!) i still have all of the dvds from the dvd store i worked at! lol
in terms of american comedy, i was obsessed with the state and then their groups' projects like wet hot american summer and reno 911 (michael showalter is a great example of a writer/director i don't think is one of the greats but follows his heart & vision, and i really respect that; my fave of his, which is genuinely so good, is hello my name is doris! underrated lil treasure). i also really loved it's always sunny, flight of the conchords, party down, arrested development, jackass and wild boys, and house md, and some of the wild characters on bravo lmao. we had this channel called logo that was my lifeline to queer content before i really had full-time access to the internet outside of a shared family computer, so i was always watching reruns of jeffrey & cole casserole, the big gay sketch show, plus the l word and queer as folk, and they also did syndication of reno 911 (but i already had all the box sets of that 😭). i was never heavy into the judd apatow/bro comedy that was so big in the 2000s, and even the 80s–90s american comedy heavily influenced by the talent at snl wasn't particularly engaging to me; of that, my favourites were probably throw momma from the train and a couple of romcoms
+ every panel show i could get my hands on! and i think because i was really engaged with sketch comedy i was also reading a lot of playwrights, especially alan bennett, harold pinter, and edward albee, who i had (and have!) huge collections of
and, yes, so many of these are at the foundation of my very favourite formats and styles of comedy: mockumentaries , black comedy or dark comedy, existential comedy, stories rooted in reality or plausibility / domestic dramedy. i used to be very engaged by sketch comedy and wanted to crack the science behind writing funny sketches, but i do think i've moved away from that format and filled that void with the improv nature of panel shows (it works for me the way i think the format of podcasts work for so many other people... i wonder if anyone will relate to that comparison)
comedy evolves so much by the decade and i appreciate a lot of the ways in which it has grown, so i don't think of it as a then vs now, which is better, whatever. and like you i can't help but revisit my nostalgic faves often!
Tumblr media
i do think eventually he will! but rn he's lapping up that tv money hahaha my very fave is firing cheeseballs at a dog, but they're all genuinely great!

hiii no worries if you dont want to answer but i'm just wondering if you could recommend any recent aus tv shows?
hello and oooh yes I absolutely can!!!
In Limbo / watch on ABC Iview! Stars Ryan Corr and Bob Morely, a kind of dramedy ghost story about 2 best friends, one of whom dies and becomes a ghost bound to the other until they figure out why he's still stuck on Earth. Really lovely and they're such a great duo!
Class of '07 / Amazon Prime - easily in my top 5 shows of the year, comedy about a group of women who are at their 10 year private all girls school reunion when the apocalypse happens and they're all stuck together surviving.
True Colours / watch on SBS ON DEMAND - murder mystery about an Aboriginal woman who has to go back to her home town to investigate the strange death of a young woman.
New Gold Mountain / SBS ON DEMAND - period drama murder mystery about a group of Chinese gold miners during Australia's initial gold rush who are falsely accused of murdering a white woman.
Preppers / watch on ABC Iview - created by Nakkiah Lui, comedy about a young Aboriginal journalist who gets cancelled and runs away to her grandmother's land only to find her grandmother leased it to a bunch of hapless doomsday preppers.
The Unusual Suspects / SBS ON DEMAND - comedy drama about a group of filipino Australian women who try to heist a necklace from a rich white woman and it goes sideways.
Firebite / NITV and/or AMC - vampire drama about Aboriginal father-daughter vampire hunters hunting a vampire who came here during colonisation on the First Fleet.
The Newsreader (ABC) - starring Sam Reid and Anna Torv, about a local news station trying to keep afloat in the 80s, follows 2 tv journalists who fall in love and things just get messy. Honestly it's the best Australian drama in recent memory and season 2 is only a few months away!
Aunty Donna's Big Ol House of Fun (Netflix) & Aunty Donna's Coffee Cafe (ABC) - 2 comedy sketch series courtesy of the iconic trio that is Aunty Donna. Great if you grew up loving The Young Ones, Monty Python or SNL when it was good.
I notice you have a shiv/sarah snook icon too. while it's not as recent as the one's above, the 2015 period drama The Secret River stars Sarah Snook and Oliver Jackson Cohen as 2 married convicts sent to start a new life in early colonial New South Wales and the challenges they face. It's not one of my favourites honestly (it's a little racist in spots because it's made by white women) but it's great performance from Sarah ❤️
Not sure what kind of shows you're into but hopefully there's something that tickles your fancy there.

I keep thinking back to Muse playing Survival at the closing ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympics, and I keep saying that one of these days I'm just gonna spew all my feelings about how it's not just one of my all-time favorite Muse moments, but also a hilarious, if perhaps unintentional, moment of social commentary.
Tumblr media
I still remember our postgrad professor showing those same closing ceremonies in class, explaining the not-so-subtle propagandistic purpose the entire spectacle served on the global stage. (For those who don't know, the 2012 Olympics closing ceremonies were essentially a three-hour star-studded tribute to UK music and pop culture.)
Picture this: you just sat through about two hours of the UK's various national exports - One Direction, the Spice Girls, the Pet Shop Boys, George Michael, Ed Sheeran, Annie Lennox, erm, Russell Brand. You've just seen live performances of Bohemian Rhapsody, Imagine, Wonderwall, and Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, alongside tributes to David Bowie and Freddie Mercury. And you still have Queen, Take That and The Who to go after this.
youtube
Interestingly, that class glossed over what an afterthought the Muse performance felt like by comparison. You could argue a lot of extenuating circumstances: the controversial reception of Survival as the official London Olympics theme song, the infamous NBC debacle where it inadvertently got cut from the US broadcast of the ceremonies, or the simple fact that this far into the festivities, a fairly straightforward stage performance* by a band with slightly less name recognition than Coldplay was pretty underwhelming.
* Not sure if this is common knowledge, but apparently this performance was mostly playback with the exception of Matt's vocals. Which also makes this an underappreciated entry in the annals of Muse miming shenanigans.
youtube
But something becomes very apparent once you actually reach this part of the show: Survival is fucking bananas. I'll never forget that one internet commenter calling it the world's most epic villain song that doesn't know it's a villain song. I mean, just look at the lyrics:
Life's a race / and I am gonna win
And I'll light the fuse / and I'll never lose
And I choose to survive / whatever it takes
You won't pull ahead / I'll keep up the pace
And I'll reveal my strength / to the whole human race
This is how the song starts! You can sort of see the logic behind making it the Olympics theme song. And then it gets weirder from there:
Yes, I am prepared / to stay alive
I won't forgive / the vengeance is mine
And I won't give in / because I choose to thrive
Yeah, I'm gonna wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin
Good grief. No wonder it's called "Survival". The song makes slightly more sense in the thematic context of The 2nd Law, the album it was released on. But on its own it's just.... yeah.
And this performance ramps up the insanity even more by just taking the piss. Between Matt Bellamy peacocking in a sparkly suit and Union Jack t-shirt, the batshit guitar solo, the pyro, the backing choir, and the fact that everything onstage (including the grand piano) is pretty much just for show (and wobbling like mad), Survival feels cheesy and irreverent in a way that makes you suddenly hyper-conscious of how tightly orchestrated everything else you just saw (including the Monty Python and Mr. Bean stuff) was. Remember that this was all broadcast to an international audience of millions.
Tumblr media
Pairing the sheer pageantry of the ceremonies thus far with the actual lyrics of Survival kinda puts everything in an uncomfortable new light. Then it dawns on you that you pretty much just watched an accidental three-hour love letter to British imperialism. (Okay maybe that's overselling it a bit but it's still pretty funny.)

okay so, I think it's so fucking funny but also interesting how veggietales characters are either portrayed as being close to human size or regular vegetables. (or both?!?!?)
putting under a read more because I will go on and on about this and maybe go on tangents
love my funny little produce ^^
so I feel like for someone who's never watched this show (not to mention barely heard of it), it would seem obvious to think these characters are itty bitty. I mean, they go on the countertop, and everything's just normal-sized. Larry even eats some popcorn that looks to be in a human sized bowl (as well as regular sized popcorn) in Dave and the Giant Pickle. Larry's also gotten stuck in the sink once in Rack, Shack, and Benny. The only place where everything around them seems to be made for their size is in the story segments. the Bible retellings, the book adaptations, the movie/show adaptations, the original stories. the content that fills up 80% of the videos are in universe acting, so one could say it's just the set. even for the stories that are kinda implied to be a part of the character's canon, such as Larry's Lagoon and Bob's Vacation, could be set within this little mini world they have, kinda like how the Super Why characters live in this magical world in a bookshelf. not that I imagine much of the fandom even considers it canon, but the netflix series did seem to build on that world for the sentieng vegetables, at least in minor details (more veggie theming I guess) all this seems to keep the idea that they're still just vegetable size. Their interactions with humans are very much just audience interaction throughout the show, whether it's through letters, texting, or video calls. The cancelled Bob and Larry movie even touches on the idea of the vegetables being vegetable size, with a comment from one of the show artists, Joe Spadaford, stating that "Bob and Larry would've lived in his nightstand" (quote from the Lost Media Wiki, paraphrasing Spadaford)('his' being a kid called Dexter, whoever that would've ended up being) however, in what we have of the show now, humans never really come into contact with the veggies, not counting the mascot costume performances or spin offs (Os Amigos, FitnessHoff) because of that, most would assume the vegetables are just talking vegetables. BUT THEN THERES SOME OF THE EXTRA-CONTENT STUFF. I'm gonna start with the one that stuck with me the earliest:
Tumblr media
Bob just sitting casually with the creator of the show, but. but. but. he's not the size of a tomato. he's almost as tall as medium sized dog or a baby.
another thing I saw recently:
Tumblr media
this picture is from the Veggie Rocks! album, which seems to have also been included with the physical CD copies. Larry's just fucking around in the studio. this human sized looking studio..... now, thinking back to my point about the canon stories earlier: yes, it'd be easy to say those are just sets made for their size, but what's stopping someone from saying that the sets are in accordance to human size? that the countertop is actually the thing modified for size to make the veggies look veggie-sized!? well, at the end of the day, I think it's up to personal preference, and also it's a cartoon for kids so there's not much reason to put so much thought into it. But I like putting thought into it, dammit. In fact, in the process of writing this rambling, I had actually thought of a third idea: what if the veggies can change their size at will for whatever the reason? the veggies, as well as just being able to levitate things, can also change their size. being honest, that wouldn't even be the weirdest thing about them. Oh yeah, and I went through this entire part of the rambling without even mentioning the animals. animals that are either veggie-sized or regular-sized, depending on how you see it.
VEGETABLES THAT TALK AND SING AND DANCE and also seem to really like Monty Python and Gilbert and Sullivan references. also, they're in a Christian educational show. it's already kinda far out there as a show concept. but then there's the other thing: they can eat. through the first episodes, they're mostly shown eating or at least mentioning or using foods such as pizza, popcorn, or slushies. even then, the mentions of food is already kinda sparse. but coming into the 2000s, the use of food is a bit more frequent (I don't know why I'm so hung up on the food thing, honestly, but I feel like there's something about the idea of a digestive system) speaking of anatomy, it has been brought up before in terms of the veggies' anatomy as plants. the Belly Button song is a pop song that goes on about Mr. Lunt and his super deep dark secret that he must admit to y/n: he's got no belly button. of course, he's a decorative gourd. the umbilical equivocal is up there in his head. this plant unique biology is then carried over to one of the VeggieTales on TV end credit bits, where Mr. Lunt informs Bob (who's in the middle of a mild allergic reaction to shellfish) that he would technically "breath through his leaves," and then Bob comments on that being "cool." Aside from that, they do have animal functions too. like using the bathroom (never shown on screen, but off screen reference and mention)
Honestly, that's kinda all I wanted to ramble about, I think the details of these characters are super interesting to think about
also with the external detail that the veggies can't "have a redemptive relationship with God" so they can't go to heaven nor hell nor I guess have souls accordingly

He was on tape bragging no one word believe him after he said he's out to get revenge he Wil twist everything around. He also said he wants to drown burn and rape her. There's text and audio proof.
Amber also send text and told her parents also they said how much they love him, they choose to ignored her because they like him- Supporting amber doesn't mean a woman isn't incapable of abuse or that man can’t be victim. it's seeing through a really manipulativr abuser. And you seem to be justifying what he did as “being flaw” maybe because you like him too. Amber is a flaws human as well, some of her flaws include standing up for herself and fighting back. All the argument you state that she hit him too was always after he intitally abuse which is easily self defense. I'm not the anon but I'm replying to an illiterate post i saw from you
Supporting Amber DOES mean you believe women are incapable of abuse when you discount the overwhelming evidence she abused him including her own confessions on tapes she recorded admitting to beating him and admitting he always ran away from the fights that SHE always started.
You can call me illiterate but we both know you’re either literally making shit up and lying or you are blatantly and willfully ignorant of the numerous tapes where she documented her own abusive behavior. There is a text proving that Johnny Depp watched Monty Python and hated his abusive wife. But there are hospital records proving she cut off his fucking finger. Which do you think is more pressing? Those are not equivalent and being angry that you’re being abused is not abuse.
If you can look at a woman telling you she is an abuser, telling you her husband didn’t abuse her, mocking him for the fact he didn’t abuse her, mocking him for being a victim. If you can look at a woman saying YES I HIT YOU BUT NO ONE WILL BELIEVE YOU BECAUSE YOURE A MAN and you’re dumb enough to fall for it and disbelieve Johnny Depp because he’s a man? If you can literally make up a bunch of fucking shit like your comment just did to try to desperately find a fact pattern where she isn’t guilty?
Than Yes. You are saying women can’t be abusive. You’re sexist. You’re enabling abuse and discrediting survivors. And you should get off my page.
Literally every single one of you piece of shit Amber Heard Stans comes on my page and says I must like him or be attracted to him or want to fuck him because I am an SA survivor defending Johnny Depp and I’m so fucking sick of it. You abuse-enabling assholes are all proving that you have a fucking fetish for SA because all you all do every day is fetishize me and what I went through. Get the fuck off my page you piece of shit and stop invalidating survivors and triggering survivors who refuse to believe your bullshit lies.
I am an SA survivor and I support Johnny Depp because I support victims. I won’t support an abusive woman just for being a woman.

001 About Richy and Igor
002 About Igor specifically (wanna hear your thoughts about him in depth :D)
003 about Monty Python characters? if it's even possible?
(I would gladly hear you on 001 about FuB, but as I'm being absolutely too much, I can understand that you don't do it. It's extra content :D)
((Also, you are free to answer to this ask for only one ask and do the others on separate posts for more clarity !))
I reblogged this ask game before reading any of the questions, and after receiving your ask, I read them and now I have to say that my questions are probably gonna be very, VERY underwhelming ::D So don't get too excited, cos I don't think I'm able to give you the type of answers you might be interested in reading :D But I'll try anyway, but know that you're been warned: boredom alert!!!
001 | Richy & Igor
when I started shipping it if I did: Must have been in 2009 when I found out about die ärzte for the first time. I watched every video I could find, including Richy Guitar. At first I didn't really care about the film, and I wasn't exactly shipping R/I but more of obsessing with the clips because of my new Bela/Farin obsession. I got way more into the ship only during the past 2 or 3 years, when I also started writing fanfiction about them, and then it evolved into drawing doodles and comics too.
my thoughts: Uh, what can I say? Head empty, no thoughts. My brain keeps hyperfixating on this ship for no good reason.
What makes me happy about them: Nothing.
What makes me sad about them: Nothing.
things done in fanfic that annoys me: Anything that doesn't align with my own headcanons or is too far away from the actual canon.
things I look for in fanfic: Nothing. Because it doesn't exist, so I have already given up.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: No one else.
My happily ever after for them: Idk.
who is the big spoon/little spoon: Idk.
what is their favorite non-sexual activity: Canon? Music. My headcanons? Fast food.
---
002 | Igor
How I feel about this character: Idk.
All the people I ship romantically with this character & My non-romantic OTP for this character: I honestly don't know if it's romantic or queerplatonic or just platonic, but I only ship him with Richard.
My unpopular opinion about this character: I have none. I don't think there are even popular opinions about this character out there.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish to know where does he live. I keep thinking about that caravan inside the abandoned factory, and I keep headcanoning it as Igor's residence but I wish I knew whose place that actually was (the other option is Hans, but yeah, it's never revealed in the film).
my OTP: Richy/Igor lol
my cross over ship: None.
a headcanon fact: He's head over heels for Richard whether that be platonic or not.
---
003 | send me 5 characters and I will rank them in order of preference
You asked about Monty Python characters. I guess it is possible, but just very very difficult because there are not that many reoccuring characters, and the Flying Circus show ran for 4 seasons and there are several films, so the character count could be in hundreds tbh. Often the skits are also more about the joke and topic and less about characters, even when they're often given names. But as I'm writing this, I can feel a potential list cooking inside my head so, here we go!
The Gumbys. My favourite quote comes from these skits: "My brain hurts!" I can't find that as a gif now, but they are these extremely, extremely stupid characters who shout every line of theirs cos they are so dumb. Here's the Brain Specialist skit where that quote is from too :D
youtube
2. The Hell's Grannies. This is just the funniest shit ever and I absolutely love the graffiti they paint as a graffiti and which goes: "Make tea, not love." Here's a link to a video on youtube.
Tumblr media
3. Anne Elk (Miss). I just keep rewatching this skit over and over again cos it's so stupid, and the characters just interact with each other in such a funny way, and Graham's character's reactions to Anne Elk are so funny :D
youtube
4. Pontius Pilate in Life of Brian. Ok this movie is full of extremely funny characters, and I would like to mention a handful of others, such as the deaf and stupid character and his companion who's stuttering the whole time; and also that man in the pit who hadn't talked at all until Brian accidentally jumped on his foot. But I still have to give this place for Michael Palin's Pontius Pilate just for that Biggus Dickus scene cos it's probably the funniest movie scene I have ever seen. Palin often had the funniest characters, and it's even funnier when you know that the extras and other actors didn't know about his lines so if I'm correct, all of those laughters were genuine reactions to Palin's acting, and he also was so close to losing it at one point :D
youtube
5. And you know what? I just HAVE TO link here the French Taunting scene from Monty Python & the Holy Grail, just for you XD "Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!" kills me every time.
youtube
+ And you get an extra just because you're French, this skit and their accents in this sometimes live rent free in my head :D
youtube
THANK YOU so much for the ask btw! I decided to skip the 001 about FUB cos my answers would have not been much different from the RG one, apart from real people not having a canon, and me not really having any headcanons for them for that same reason. So, it would have not really added anything, or would have been even less than what I now got for the answers for R/I.
Funnily enough, I got way more out of Monty Python. It just shows how I don't get attached to characters really, but live for and from humour, and anything that's funny af to me, I like and makes me happy.

Year summary #1
Carouselambra playing in the background How the fuck do I even start this?
I had to begin from changes that took place in this year and from what I know and recall, a few took place. So maybe let's start from the one that made impact on my personal life and that is a better relationship with parents.
I was working on that since the last year, but it kicked off good in this year. Got more into old music, got into The Beatles and parents started to be such curious little shits that dad started coming to my room to check what albums I bought and I've convinced mom to watch The Beatles' movies with me - I don't remember her laughing this much since I've made her watch "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" with me. Dad even started asking me about stuff, it turns out that now I'm showing my mom old music, not the other way around like it always was. I keep a list of albums to play her when the summer comes around in the next year and there's actually quite a lot already XD
I'm so happy from getting on better terms with dad, it fills me with joy *sob sob*
I also started buying more albums, bought some pins even and since they opened a band accessory shop I've asked about posters. They don't sell them yet, but the guy asked what I'm looking for, I told him and he said that he can get them if they'll be selling posters. That can mean that maybe I'll get lucky to get a Led Zeppelin's or The Who's poster - I'm mostly keen on The Who's one <3
With this year passing I also feel that I want to go to work, but I need to be patient. This library degree is very tiring, it's not as easy and chill as the last one was. I literally wonder how I will pass upcoming exams, especially from one subject that only one person gets? This professor isn't explaining anything, like, she teaches something she doesn't understand, I mean... Why are you teaching then?
I also started learning chords on my guitar slowly, very slowly, but it's going somehow!
One thing that changed, with me working on myself was putting a serious blockade away. Not entirely, but I started clowning around with friends and it's one of the best things to do. I even clown around with mom and dad, mostly mom though. We get stupid sometimes and it's fun!
So that would sum up my personal life I think, from what I want to say. And now to this blog...
It changed again, because all heavy metal bands disappeared and this blog became classic rock oriented. That's because I stopped listening to this genre. You can say that I kinda grew bored of it? Or that I noticed I'm getting a headache from it, but like, there was this one day when I drove with my dad and the album by Led Zeppelin ended and Metallica began to play. I listened and I was honestly bored. It just hit me that there's nothing special in it. Lars is still a good drummer but like... I heard better ones and didn't find anything interesting in his playing this time. It repeated with every band I was listening to so I just dropped out of that, deciding to stick to older music. That was a good decision, honestly.
But the biggest change on here that happened is the fact that I got so many mutuals this year that I can't wrap my mind around. I won't tag anyone here, because I might skip on someone and I don't want that to happen, but I love you all. You're making this place a lot better and honestly? Classic rock fandom is like a big family and I'm happy to be somehow a part of it. Never had I thought I will find such supportive people on Internet and yet, there you are. I'm glad I've met you all <3
That would be all for this one then. Tomorrow's one tho... Fucking hell, this will be a ride...

8 TV Shows to Get to Know Me!
I was tagged by the one, the only @myfavouritelunatic.
Now, if I do this properly, then I'll just have a page full of Star Trek, but let's see what I can put together as a list because otherwise, I'm not a massive TV watcher, which is always evident when every tag game that has a question like "what show are you watching/obsessed with now" ends with me saying "Nothing".
Star Trek - The Next Generation
Tumblr media
Yeah, I mean, Q, one of the best chaotic characters out there, had my heart right from the start.
2. Better Call Saul
Tumblr media
As much as I ADORED Breaking Bad - a.k.a. the perfect villain arc, I loved its spin-off even more. Saul is a stunning, stunning character, and I am looking forward to a binge-rewatch.
3. The X-Files
Tumblr media
This must have been my first ship before I even realised it, but Dana Scully was my STAPLE female hero growing up.
4. Firefly
Tumblr media
Firefly was perfect, and I miss it every day!
5. IT Crowd
Tumblr media
And now everyone knows my ultimate crush.
6. Mad Men
Tumblr media
Mad Men was fucking tragic, and I loved every second of it.
7. Hannibal
Tumblr media
I love every variation on Hannibal Lector, from 1986 Manhunter, to (OBVIOUSLY) Anthony Hopkins, and naturally, Mads Mikkelsen killing it. Slaughtering and eating it as him.
8. The Leftovers
Tumblr media
It's perfect, perfect.
Honourable mentions are: GoT (S1-5), The Americans, Breaking Bad, Russian Doll, Monty Python's Flying Circus, The Twilight Zone, Futurama, Cowboy Bebop
Tagging, with no pressure: @mamanmae @penelopeisshipping @niennawept @pursuitseternal @yletylyf @eowyn7023 @iamstartraveller776 @jhalya

Brazil and The Dream of Escape
Tumblr media
I was delighted to find in the Xtras that the machine created to be used by Furfur to use to find out how many demons Shax could requisition for storming the bookshop was inspired by the movie Brazil. This is another nod to Monty Python member Terry Gilliam, who directed this film, and who almost directed the failed GO film in the 1990's.
I love this film. Always have. Yes, I was around when it came out in 1985. I'm that old. It's always been in my top 5 favourite films. And its totally relevant to Good Omens.
Tumblr media
Brazil can be described as a dark dystopian story based on the novel 1984. It doesn't have a happy ending, but its funny, horrific, ludicrous, romantic and timelessly beautiful all at the same time. Its so iconic that when ever I see its influence in other productions its been unmistakable.
It stars Jonathan Pryce long before he was a James Bond villain or the head Sparrow in Game of Thrones, a comedic turn from Robert de Niro and a handful of other famous faces that you are bound to recognise, such Bob Hoskins, Ian Holm and Jim Broadbent.
Pryce, as Sam Lowry, lives in a world that is strictly controlled with paperwork that comes in multiple copies, where people are routinely arrested and tortured and a long running unexplained terrorist campaign sees bombs explode in the most random of places. Sam has dreams of a beautiful woman floating in the sky, and he is a sliver-armoured winged hero trying to rescue her. He eventually finds that she is real, and finds out her name through various means via his work and contacts. He tracks her down, but that is where it all starts to unravel as she is mixed up with an unfortunate case of mistaken identity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Its easy to see the common themes and elements that run through the film with GO: the desire to run away and escape (that doesn't work,) a totalitarian authority controlling the masses, propaganda, piles of paperwork, an undercurrent of rebellion, torture and abuse, forbidden love between classes, a villain hidden in plain sight.
There is an art deco aesthetic to the film that also carries over to other films and shows it has influenced, and the busy work floor scene that stops on a dime to watch the tv show de jour while the boss isn't looking is one of the highlights of the film.
It was a reference of this that caught my eye in the Cohen Brothers modern fairy tale The Hudsucker Proxy, where they copied the busyness of the work floor for their mail room scenes, but also the art deco aesthetic. That's another film that is always in my top five films, and could go a round of comparisons with GO - its got time stoppage, an angel appearance and a near-godlike manipulator.
Tumblr media
It also appears, surprisingly, in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The casino at Canto Bight is Brazil inspired, in the way its introduced to us, its decor and the music. I know some people hate this film because of what they did to Luke, but I love it, the whole thing is just utterly gorgeous to look at.
Tumblr media
And if you've watched any of Loki recently, since S2 of that show finished not long ago, you would also seen some influence from Brazil in the retro look.
I love the classic art deco style. my grandparents had an art deco house that I spent many of my childhood hours in. The style itself is a clean, unadorned look, and often is meant to give a look of movement, speed or strength. A classic example of this is the Bentley, of course, which comes from the height of the art deco era in the 1930's.
Tumblr media
Hell is the other place we see the Brazil influence in GO, where is looks like it's constantly several decades behind the times, with overhead projectors and manual typewriters and odd looking not-quite steampunk contraptions.
Tumblr media
Brazil is available to stream on Disney at the moment, if you'd like to take a look. I highly recommend it, its one of those influential films that once you know it, you see its long reach in the most unexpected places.

thanks for the tag @aquarianshift <3
ao3 first lines tagline!
Rules: Share the first lines of ten of your most recent fanfics and tag ten people. If you have written fewer than ten, don’t be shy and share anyways]
i was going to say that my last 10 wouldn't be topical enough for this sideblog but they totally are 😭 oh i'm in deep aren't i.
pea-and-bacon soup (Kerouac's Dharma Bums) On special nights, Ray had Japhy for dinner– up on Desolation mountain in his one-man cabin.   Japhy always turned up unannounced, though expected.  He wasn’t here , of course– he was a thousand miles across the ocean by now, trolling Japan.  Japhy was probably transcending all of human history in a temple somewhere and Ray was just staring out over the treetops watching for smoke.
on locusts and wild honey (john the baptist /reader. sure i'll promo this again.) If not for the dark clouds still hanging heavy with rain over the city all afternoon, it would have been just now after dark, and he was the only one in his hotel room for the night, the others having taken up offers for dinner or sitting mesmerized staring out the window at the rain. That he wanted some peace and quiet wasn't questioned, considering the tumultuousness of the past week, a gauntlet of frothing interviewers with loaded questions, and now the knowledge of what tomorrow brought, the raincheck show at noon, a flight, then the usual evening show. You could tell he was exhausted, even if he hadn't told you.
someone with that kind of intensity (iykyk. idk) John swiveled around, staring at her in disbelief.  "Yoko! not with–" "What, love?" She sported a tender look of concern, but he knew how undercutting it was.  He ignored Paul across the table. His cheeks were burning; he could hardly believe that she would bring it up in front of anyone at all, let alone Paul. Not with everything she knew, from all the time they had spent opening up to one another. But she had–
three-point hesitation roll (monty python starting from where my words begin since it's a finish-the-story kinda fic) Ginger had hardly felt around under his chair for whatever books were lying about when he heard the plane engine growl and sputter. “Will you two knock it off,” he insisted, huffing and sinking further back into the once-plush but now well worn chair. “You made it through, let’s not fly right back into the turbulence.”
hand of fate The astrologer had been gone long enough for John to calm down about the whole situation and realize just how much he depended on a daily dose of mysticism, like reading the morning paper. The marital advice was a step too far, and perhaps the position had gone to the man's head, but finding a good astrologer was hard enough and to find one that was hiring material even more so. Off his kilter, as if spiritually unsure whether to bring an umbrella for a cloudy day out, John was sulking, sprawled out amongst the pillows scattered in a common area corner of their offices. Bored and distraught, he turned his attention towards pestering George, sitting cross-legged, reading a small book.  "What's that?" John asked lazily, rolling onto his back to stretch, arching slightly, punctuating his severe lack of interest with a yawn.  "Book."
a friend of ours (monty python) "Jocasta, darling," she crooned, setting the tennis racquet aside once they'd stepped through the doors of the country club. It was empty this time of day, with most members still out on the court. Their three other friends included, with Alec and David playing a game of singles, and Sandra on the receiving side (despite any teammateless blancmanges that might have been in the area). The lady and Jocasta had retreated, looking for a bit of peace and quiet after a riotous bout of volleys.
monty python's canterbury tales It was in quite a fit that Terry woke In fact at first he thought it was a joke. His mattress was replaced with heeth and hey; A cock had roused him, heralding the day; The air was stale and starved his foggy mind And made it hard to leave his sleep behind. In dream alone he held his lover near Though for so long he'd been a brother dear And- he, indeed, which little helped this state So wallowed Terry much in dreams of late.
the sitting room of love They don't always talk, when they're alone. It's not unusual for them to come home after a day of work and hardly say a dozen words all night.  They hold each other incessantly. One endless caress, nearly morbid in mutual obsession. At work or at rest, always-- hand in hand, side by side, head on lap or shoulder. Beautifully endless. Connected always, the blind clutching the blind, trembling against the darkness. He's lost, she's lost. They hold each other.
(the rest of these aren't published but have some wips for fun :P ) [working title: yeah, yeah, girls] There were some things that boys just couldn’t stomach, and the two of them sat on the floor of Beth’s bedroom amidst a veritable explosion of girl was something that would make any boy their age ill.  There were certain preparations, certain rituals that had to occur before going out– especially when tonight was as big as it was. The Beatles were live in London after a long summer away, and after seeing nothing but American girls for months it was the pair’s solemn duty to make themselves presentable.  There was, after all, no place like home.
[working title: further adventures of Paul on the floor] Ahme, bless her, had been far wide of the mark in terms of how quickly the serum would wear off.  For Ringo, injected in just his finger and staying otherwise full-sized, it would have worn off in a matter of minutes, hours at most.  But for Paul, unfortunately hit right next to a major artery, sending the serum pulsing through his bloodstream and dropping him to the height of a lab rat– no, a lab mouse, recovery would never have been that quick.  His metabolic system was much too small now to process out the amount of serum that had been injected, and the doctor had agreed, after being paid off quite handsomely to make up for the shock of the situation.  It would be a few days, at best, before he was back to normal.  With the cult members still hot on their trail, the band had no choice but stay on the run, with Paul in tow, in jacket and shirt pockets, jostled about miserably on their journey to the Alps.  One positive, they figured, was that they only had to buy three tickets.
holy hell. if you made it this far, well, let's be best friends, shall we? one thing i learned from this is wooow i know how to wear out a sentence!
i don't know a lot of authors this side of town so if we're mutuals and you write then you're tagged. :) i don't make the rules.

I was tagged by @lovelesscherub, thank you soooo much, I love to be tagged 💖 (even if I don't always answer these because I forget or don't feel motivated at the time ).
favourite colour(s): Green (especially emerald green but all shades, really) and also yellow and orange. 💚💛🧡
favourite flavour(s): I have a sweet tooth, so if it's something is sweet... yes please. But also, I like savoury things too, and things that are a bit spicy a well. And garlic in anything usually works great! 😋
favourite genre(s): Whether we're talking about movies, tv or literature, I mostly prefer horror, sci-fi and fantasy. Oh, and mysteries (whether it's crime or something supernatural).
favorite music: I lean towards metal more than anything, but I actually also like a lot of different types of rock (especially if it was made 'in the old days', so in like... 50's to 90's) and pop as well.
favourite movie(s): So damn many tbh! But I will try to list at least some favourites that come to mind immediately. Here we go: Alien, Brokeback Mountain, Pacific Rim, Titanic, Flatliners (1990), Back to the Future-trilogy, Star Wars episodes IV-VII (but especially The Empire Strikes Back and The Force Awakens - the latter had so much potential ok!), Mamma Mia!, The Blair Witch Project, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Jurassic Park, Crimson Peak, IT 1990 (which is technically a miniseries but I think of it as a movie so), The Faculty, Thelma and Louise, Girl Interrupted, Stardust, Pitkä Kuuma Kesä, Spirited Away, Young Guns 1 & 2, Monty Python's Life of Brian, The LotR-trilogy, Hot Fuzz, Sinister, Maurice, The Breakfast Club, Kingsman 1 & 2...
favourite series: I don't watch a lot of tv (other than true crime "docuseries" sometimes) because I can't concentrate on following a plot that goes on and on most of the time but here are some favourites I've enjoyed in the past: Twin Peaks, The X-Files (seasons 1-7), Mash, Black Books, Doctor Who (the new series seasons 1-4), Spaced, Good Omens... Also I guess I should say Cobra Kai, not because I think it's particular good but because I just love the karate dads so much.
last song: GOSSIP by Måneskin
last series: Probably some true crime murder-series, I honestly can't remember, haven't even opened my tv in like a week or so
last movie: Can't remember if I've watched anything else in full since I watched Big Eden (2000) a few weeks ago.
currently reading: I wish I was reading an actual book because that's what I want to do more this year... But nah, I have started some but none could hold my interest more than a couple pages. 😩 I am however rereading a very good Cobra Kai fanfic feat. Daniel/Johnny/Amanda written by my very talented tumblr mutual and once I've finished reading I will leave a loooong comment because it looks like last time I was dumb and didn't comment at all and I am disappointed in myself.
currently working on: Writing letters to my penpals. Also trying to work on having a proper rhythm in my days even now that I'm unemployed and have nowhere to be during days. It's going alright I think. I should also try to work on my anxiety which has been quite bad lately.
I will tag: @catzy88 @disdaidal @icanhasnaow @leyley09 @an-sceal @ashyyboyy @dull-c @valastaja @marley-manson and @vonderbarr But if you have already done this recently or just don't feel like answering then no pressure! ❤️

Terror Toons 4 (2023)
Terror Toons 4 (2023)Due to several reasons I have not been doing reviews as often as I used to but I needed to write this one. I NEEDED to write it. Let me set things up with expectations. I was a big fan of the first film literally 20 years ago. Not because I thought it was amazing but because it was just shockingly silly , bizzare and that kind of nonsense that would shock normie film fans. It was a lot of fun to show people just for their reactions. Then parts 2 and 3 came and went and I was not too much of a fan. It was a bit of the same and just didn' do anything for me and I'm sure would be too weird for those pre mentioned "normies"… but.. but then came part 4. I was told it was an anthology and the post covid world of low budget anthologies don't exactly excite me anymore. So I went into this worried but only 30 seconds in, things changed… forever. The opening of this film explodes into visual overload and insanity so fast it feels as if Horonamus Bosch met Terry Gilliam in the digital age. it felt like that magnavox commercial where the screen literally exploded in your face. Then the movies starts and the screaming begins. The first short starts and gives us a mixed slash warped origin of the classic Terror Toon villains. It's so much a step up in concept , feeling, pacing and technical excellence then previous with a darker , scarier atmosphere. Imagine watching Adam Wests Batman one week and then seeing a multimillion dollar Batman movie the next week.So not to give any spoilers I will just say it feels like Alex De le Iglesia directed the hell scene in Bill and Teds bogus journey . Douglas Epps take on the less cartoony yet just as insane Dr Carnage is amazing. The killer gorilla Max Assassin is legit scary now. But it's the new sweet and innocent yet completely terrifying character Derrick or was it Eric that we meet that will change your life.I won't explain anything about him but you will know him when you see him. We get several other shorts but they definitely come in second to the first short however they are needed. Brinke Stevens stars and directs a short that is a much more sensible short that may have been fine on its own but felt a bit out of place, again only because the rest of the show was so wild. Brinke had made this short before thinking of connecting it to Terror Toons 4 , I'm pretty sure. It's a nice mellow out and does get us more Linnea Quickly and Debbie Rochon. Hell the cameos in this are wild. The third and fourth shorts come at you wild and fast giving no mercy. After the second short I was literally saying to myself "wait a Joe Castro film with no sexual symbolism, that's weird." but then the short The heads of Mr Switch comes at you and picks up for sexual lost time. This short is shocking, hilarious and ends so quickly you also want to know what happens next so badly. The most original villain in eons, all that and oh my god, Lizzy Borden is back. The final short gives us a 21 gun salute and takes us into the apocalypse . Oh look it's Rob Rhine of Girls and Corpses magazine , but of course he is here again. More cameos from more scream queen and b movie legends than you can shake a stick at in this octane charge non stop visceral explosion into madness as if Aphex Twin remade Monty Python's Meaning of Life. This is a huge achievement for the B movie world and even for those normie film nerds that may not understand this film , they will still be effected and never forget this facedive diving board launch into madness. So yeah I loved it. I'm exhausted.

I just wanted to ask about, like, any scene/chapter/arc of any of your stories that came about from the natural progression writing, that wasn't originally planned? Do you have a favorite where it was like "I'm so glad the story went here" or one that made you go "I really wish the story hadn't had to go this way?"
Oh, but that's all my fics. They all rebel on me. I create my outline, and I do stick to it more or less, but there will be a lot of deviations along the way. The fics tend to fall into place as they go along.
Bleach on the Brain was supposed to end with Carlisle and Renesmée getting fed up with their family and leaving. There would have been no assaults of any kind, just those two loading up their stuff in a Uhaul and then driving off. Renesmée was supposed to start doing those drugs, prescribed by a very upset Carlisle, as I had a much longer timeframe in mind, alas things collapsed fast in that family so she never got the time to carry out those plans. She also wasn't supposed to get mauled, that decision was changed within the same chapter, and in the next one I made the spur of the moment decision to make her change her name to Carlie.
For the Love of a Woman was a mad festival and we deviated from the original outline early on.
Nebuchadnezzar's Dream wasn't supposed to have the "gifted Carlisle" subplot at all, I only came up with that while writing chapter 3 or 4, possibly chapter 5. Carlisle was always supposed to have his afternoon with Jane, but they were supposed to have a deep conversation about her life and the Eclipse debacle, and it would tie in with the Renata chapter to show why these people would all choose to stand by Aro's side no matter what, instead Jane wound up playing dressup. Carlisle wasn't supposed to fuck Aro at the end there either, the original outline for the fic shows "I don't know what the fuck they do, uh, they watch Monty Python. Because always look on the bright side of life."
The Less Than Immaculate Conception, Eleazar wasn't supposed to be in it. He got in anyway, thanks to the Alice chapter (which we included because a lot of readers wanted to know what became of her. It wasn't a needed chapter, so we had to have something happen in it, and that wound up being Eleazar striding along). Jasper joining the Volturi and Edward dying, same thing, Edward wasn't suppose to die at all in that fic but we couldn't think of a way to save him and we needed a way for our characters to even know he'd died, so Jasper was our only available messenger. Jasper going to Volterra meant Alice had chosen to let him go, and... you see how these things go.
Violent Delights have Violent Ends, @theoriginalcarnivorousmuffin and I hadn't decided on Riley's end when we started writing it, so it was a. Garrett kills him before Carlisle can get there or b. Carlisle gets there in time, unfortunately Riley knows too much to just leave by then. Carlisle's response is that he pumps Riley full of drugs that he forgets the entire weekend.
The thing is, all of these changes were for the better, in my opinion anyway. As you're writing the story tends to just sort of unfold itself before you, at least that's how it works for me. I change my plans because I come up with better ideas and if the characters force a scene to go differently than planned then I guess they just made a decision, if I try to interfere with that it'll be painfully hard to write and the result will feel forced.
