Apparently it’s 77 degrees (F) right now which I feel like is not a great temperature to be trying to clean the records that I got from the record store in Seattle (that I almost literally stumbled into when I went to see Thunderpussy over the weekend). BUT I WANNA LISTEN TO THEM. Sigh...oh, to be the naïve record owner I used to be and just pop ‘em on my turntable and see how they sound...but no, especially since I got my new turntable a couple years ago I’m a lot more *careful now (well, since I got my new turntable, particularly) in how I take care of my turntable AND my records.

I think I’ll wait until it’s a little bit cooler and then get ‘em clean and [better] protected so I can easily play them tomorrow (since it’s almost kinda too late to play records out loud right now, and I haven’t tried listening to them through headphones yet, heh...I prefer to play them out LOUD, anyway, though. :D )

last post is exactly why I love buffy s6. love to see my no 1 girl broken and depressed and deeply disconnected from her closest friends and the world at large. I eat that shit up every time

#s5 is my absolute favourite which to be fair is also a very traumatic season for buffy #and the gift is my favourite episode #but s6 man. there's something so comforting about watching all these characters you've grown to love sink down to their absolute worst #it's not a perfect season but to me it's a cathartic season #and once more with feeling is a perfect episode #I don't really dislike any of the seasons tbh they all have something going for them. but 5/6/2 is my holy trinity #coming out as an angel enjoyer. I love when a love interest love interest becomes possessed or brainwashed or in this case loses their soul #and becomes evil #and buffy did it so well!! that moment where angel kills jenny and you're like holy shit they really went there #and buffy killing him in the end and it's a terrible awful impossible choice but it's also the only choice #and I do love how this contrasts w the end of s5 where it seems like the only option is to kill dawn but buffy puts her foot down #bc she's been here before sacrificing a loved one for the greater good but dawn is innocent she's a kid she was made from her #she's PART of her #and dawn's never had a choice. but at least buffy does #at least buffy can die knowing she saved the best part of herself #I have too many feelings about this lol she is truly the character of all time ❤️

Angel the Series for the ask meme thing 👀❤️

my favorite female character: with each rewatch I’ve loved Cordelia more and more, but it’s… complicated. She’s a character I like a lot, and that on paper I should gravitate towards above others, yet. I think it might be, in part, that I always knew what would happen to her and refused to get seriously invested LOL (I watched BTVS on tv as a child and practically unspoiled, but ATS years and years later). I also enjoy Lilah a lot, and LOVE Faith’s arc, small as it is.

my favorite male character: Angel and it’s not close. I like quite a few of the characters in the show, but the way Angel is crafted as a character, the way he works as a male lead… unparalleled.

my favorite book/season/etc: season 4. It has some of the most troubling stuff of the show, of course, but also concentrates some of my favourite things: Lilah/Wesley, the Angel-Faith-Wesley dynamic, Angelus’ return (with a gr10 example of a plot twist episode done right), Angelus-Connor… I love all the seasons in different ways but this is the one I find most interesting.

my favorite episode (if its a tv show): toss up between “Epiphany” (2x16), “Forgiving” (3x17), and “Home” (4x22).

my favorite cast member: I think all of them do a great job tbh, but I just LOVE what Julie Benz brings to the screen. And her voice *-*

my favorite ship: Lilah/Wesley!!!! I also love Angel/Darla and Angel/Faith/Wesley but. LILAH/WESLEY. They’re the ones that reduce me to tears, so (IT MEANS SOMETHING THAT YOU TRIED).

a character I’d die defending: eh. I get defensive when I see someone interpreting a character in bad faith, but it just doesn’t come close to what I feel for, say, Buffy.

a character I just can’t sympathize with: honestly? Fred. It has less to do with her as a person (although she had some moments xD), and more with how she’s built as a character. The only moment where she felt ~real to me was the episode with her parents’ appearance. It was gutting (especially paired with everyone else’s reactions like. Huh. Good parents? Now THAT is something I’ve never seen before!! Añsdkfjasdf).

a character I grew to love: hmm… idk. Wesley, maybe? Full disclosure, I liked Wesley even back in his BTVS days lol, but the love part definitely came with ATS.

my anti otp: nothing goes that far. I dislike Fred/Wesley and the way the triangle was written definitely made me dislike Fred/Gunn, I don’t care for how Angel/Cordelia was developed as a romance outside a few key moments… but nothing as rage inducing as that.

Ohhh okay so we’re talking real vampire au. I love it tbh. Charles for sure is super old but just loves humans and Max is perfect for being old and grumpy in a godly body hahaha

Poor Oscar is terrified when he learns what he’s become and the stories aren’t only that-fiction made by someone’s imagination. He’d try and starve himself but learns it’s not that simple when you’re a vampire and finally he stumbles onto Charles who immediately knows what’s going on cause he’s seen things like this more than once in his life. He’d be the first of his bloodline so he’d have to learn about the specifications of his powers. Oh damn him meeting Lando whose specialty is seduction and generally making people do what he wants. Can def see a love story here with Oscar being insecure because he doesn’t know if it’s real or just Lando’s powers meddling with his brain.

With them still being drivers I can totally see it too! Like maybe there is one or two super old that decided they are getting bored in their too long of a life so why not hop into f1 car. But then someone getting turned accidentally and having so much troubles because of it. Maybe it does help a little but…(here’s how I’d imagine the vampire thingy to work lol). When you’re a new vampire it’s not like you have all of your heightened senses all figured out just like that and the bits of additional strength are not settled in (?) so whoever would get turned would struggle so much through the first ad second race. Then he’d get used to it and start using it so that’s why suddenly he’s better after actually being the worse for the past weeks. Maybe after one race the hunger for blood would be so bad that he’d attack his teammate? Or the older ones without knowing they’re also vampires ofc and it would be pure comedy with them finding out in that way. Like suddenly they have fangs in their neck and someone’s trying to feed on their almost nonexistent blood n they have this debate whether it’s just weird or uncomfortable or enjoyable??? Either way they don’t know why people are letting them do this haha

oscar’s slowly drying out or is extremely sick (what happens to vamps that don’t drink blood?) because he doesn’t want to hurt anyone. charles stumbles upon him and immediately knows what’s wrong with him and takes him home, gives him a few blood bags and asks who turned him. oscar’s got no clue, he woke up one morning in pain and in a room he didn’t recognize surrounded by dead bodies. can imagine he’d want to stay inside and avoid humans because he’s terrified he’ll rip into someone’s throat. charles would introduce him to other vampires, and they’d help him understand what he’s going through, maybe telling him about how they were turned. they’d get him to go out and start living again, promising they’d stop him before he could hurt anyone.

lando being super seductive !! i think vampires sharing blood is very intimate but i can imagine lando shares his blood with oscar and oscar assumes he shares w everyone because of it but then oscar finds out he’s doesn’t and lando’s just like “well you won’t bite a human to feed and it’s better fresh. it’s not my fault you’re a big baby.” and totally makes it out to be like he’s doing oscar a favor by letting him feed from him

in a possible racer vamp au, i can definitely see them attacking a teammate after a race, when they can hear their blood pumping and can see the veins in their neck throbbing. im thinking about landoscar and oscar becoming a vampire midway through his rookie season. he manages well enough getting blood from people in the middle of the night and healing them with a bit of his own blood before he returns to his hotel room and pretends he didn’t go out for a late night snack. he’s so careful not to take too much. one day he can’t control himself after a really good race, he didn’t feed the night before and now all he can think about is blood. how it’s pumping through everyone who gives him a congratulatory hug or even passes by, he can’t help but think about sinking his teeth in them. he had a good race so he’s on the cameras giving tight lipped smiles, forcing his fangs to retract during interviews and the debriefs. stumbling upon lando back at the hotel when he’s debating calling room service and snacking on whoever brings his food, but suddenly his teammate looks really good. goes a little blood crazy and bites lando before he remembers who he’s biting, then starts panicking and giving lando his blood to heal him. drags him to his room and is pacing around while lando slumps on the couch.

i think it’s fun when vampire venom makes it’s victims feel euphoric so they’re not scared, so lando’s just like “hey that felt really good do it again.” while oscar tries to figure out if mind control is a vampire ability or if that’s just in movies, hoping he can make him forget this ever happened because it never should have!!

it’s very funny to think about two vampires on the grid and not knowing the other is one! max and charles being old vampires who are bored and decide to see what humans are up to lately, find out about formula one and think it would be funny to race. then one day they catch another driver drinking from someone at a race, like in a back hallway or bathroom, and just being like, “jesus you’re so stupid. don’t do that here! what is wrong with you? who raised you?” and then teaching them vampire etiquette!

i like when vampires have blood and they can feed from each other but its an intimate thing, so only done with someone you’re bonded to, or not really sustainable because it’s not human blood. they could get by but they’re weaker. and i swear there’s one vampire book i read where when they drink from each other they see each other’s memories or something weird like that. they get bitten by a newbie vampire and are like “hey! what the fuck? not cool man!! only my friends can do that.” the newbie is confused why they’re fighting back and why they taste so different than others they’ve fed from

also the drama of a vampire driver getting in a crash and coming out unscathed? just like aha yeah nbd! just got really lucky! haha! stop looking at me. they def have tests done on them (at least random piss tests for drugs, no?) so would he have to mind control ppl to fake the tests ?? how would it work

Responding just cause you answered my ask so quick. I agree that Angel and Buffy weren't completely healthy but in terms of comparison, I think just how they treated each other was a pretty positive example of a relationship. (Despite admittedly the unnecessary misunderstandings and jealousy throughout). But nobody's perfect. My only issue with Riley is it seemed like a bit of a power struggle. And then there's the "Buffy doesn't really love you, you're a rebound" thing. And that isn't a good foundation for a relationship unless you both choose each other and I don't think Buffy ever really would have. She was hurting and she isn't very good at choosing coping mechanisms tbh.

On the spuffy bit, all i can say is my biggest flex is I didn't watch season 6 or 7 just because I kinda spoiled myself when I heard they'd be a thing, even tho I kind of always knew they were at some point because I grew up on Buffy. And I doubt I ever will watch it cause I'm a petty Bangel. Childish probably but oh well.

Oh I definitely agree that the way Buffy and Angel treated each other was overall very positive! They had their ups and downs but what relationship doesn’t, right? What’s most important is that it wasn’t abusive and they were always on the same page about their love, respect and support for each other.

I totally get what you’re saying about Riley. I think a lot of the problems in that relationship were due to Riley’s inability to accept that Buffy didn’t need him or love him the way that HE wanted her to. He also had insecurities about her being physically stronger than him and a weird fixation on her relationship with Angel, who he felt he was lesser than, resulting in Buffy having to diminish herself to make him feel more adequate. This is all very problematic and in no way a good foundation for a healthy, long term relationship. I understand that his entire life had changed in a short period of time and this made him question his identity and his place in the world, but that’s a him problem and he made it into a Buffy problem. I also don’t really agree with the narrative that Buffy didn’t love him and treated him like a rebound. For the majority of season 4, Buffy is taking care of and being there for Riley when his world was crashing down around him. She was fiercely protective of him and put him above the other people in her life over and over again, including sending Angel away in “The Yoko Factor”. I also think that she did love him, the best way she knew how. Does that mean that that was enough? No, because they were terrible at communicating and I think they just had vastly different expectations from each other. Riley wanted to be the center of her universe like she was his but Buffy had responsibilities and a higher calling that he was just never gonna be able to understand and she closed parts of herself off from him because of that. So ultimately, it was never gonna last and there were signs of this even at the height of their relationship.

Damn, I don’t think I’ve ever talked about or even thought about Buffy and Riley this much like…ever lol

You think the angel final season is getting bad wait till you see the canon follow up comics of angel and buffy it was a train wreck. It’s like they tried to do what charmed did and show us the world more but failed

Well the sad thing about it is that Angel season 5 is still significantly better than s4 was. The bar is low but at least Cordy got to be Cordy for one more episode and I've been liking the more one-off nature instead of the drag that was season 4.

But Fred's death sucks. The whole "gestation" thing also made me think that she pretty much died for the same root cause that Cordelia did and I've expressed how uncomfy that mystical pregnancy storyline made me. Fred's fate is only marginally better in that we'll still, presumably, have Amy Acker but she too was sacrificed as a character to give birth to a new Big Bad. Together with Darla that makes three for three out of the major characters on Angel the Series who are ultimately killed as part of a pregnancy-esque plot. And I. Hate. It. You could argue semantics that Cordy didn't die because of the pregnancy, as such, and Fred's plot is less overtly a mystical pregnancy but tbh I don't care. It's a pattern. It's the three most important female characters this show ever had. And all of them are gone.

My somewhat unrelated ramble aside, yeah I don't think I'll read the comics. I'm tempted by Angel & Faith because brOTP goals and in general Faith stuff but I've already willingly spoiled some comics things for myself after finishing Buffy. I'm not that much of a comics person and I've heard they weren't great so I read up on them on TVTropes and didn't like what I heard. Shame because I would have liked to follow the Scoobies' journeys but I'm not gonna get into a medium that will just inevitably piss me off. I've heard bad things about Buffy's characterization and character dynamics. And I'm genuinely very sorry that the last three seasons of the Buffyverse are pissing me off in such ways lol. Again, Angel s5 is still better than s4 but my god can they stop killing off my girls. Actually, none of my girls are left 💀 so what do you know, they probably will stop.

and nah, not weird at all imo. humans are drawn to things we simply don't understand, and as long as you are not harming yourself or anyone else, its fine to indulge. we all find appeals in certain things others don't and that's perfectly normal. most of the monsters i liked as a kid were actually violent and murderous so.....yeah. im literally one of the last people who should judge you , dear nonnie.

mmmaybe? like i do have a couple of ideas, but nothing too concrete. one idea involved the reader being, well, the mother of monsters and the butcher would probably become more monstrous over time because of the silent hill related plot reasons. thing is, the reader wouldn't know there were changes at all, being too addicted to the butcher's to pay attention. I'm being very vague on this one because...idk how to communicate the story yet, if at all.

the other one might involve incest though, because of the monsters the reader birthed cooperating with the butcher, under the god's order. this one is just...a concept more than anything though because tentacles are fun.

Yep! Pretty much all of them! At least all initial comments, and as long as they're made in good faith. Criticism or petty shit I pretty much just ignore. I just know I always like it when authors reply to me, so I like to reply as well. It's a good feeling!!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Depends on how you're defining your angst, but I'm personally going to go with For This I'll Burn where Stiles lets the nogitsune in on purpose. 4,409 words, no pairing.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Tough one! I'd have to say either Foxes and Wolves or The "No-Bite" Rule. They're both Steter HEAs (5,289 and 3,869 words respectively). Forever might look different for Stiles and Peter than it does for other people, but they definitely deserve it.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I have before. Most of the time I can just shrug it off, and it doesn't really bother me. Like I said, I just don't engage with those bad faith comments. I got one on Hearts in the Byline while I was writing it (I believe it has since been deleted lmfao I couldn't find it) on a chapter that asked if someone else had written it because the quality was so bad and they felt it was so incongruous from the story. It was hurtful and awful and at the time it really sucked. I think I've grown as an author and something like that wouldn't bother me as much anymore, but that was my second or third fic, and the longest one I'd written (and still holds that, I think, lol).

Yes :-) Some from my own brain and others requested from me. And all sorts!

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I haven't yet. I have one TW/Buffy crossover WIP that I don't know if I'll ever really get to finish, but I'd like to. It's more of a fusion than a crossover, anyway.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of! Hopefully it stays that way haha.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Once! Someone translated The "No-Bite" Rule into Ukrainian here.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I have not! But I would try, I think it seems fun.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

It's gotta be Steter, man.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I don't know! I would definitely like to finish all my WIPs, but it's probably unrealistic. Writer in the Dark is a Kira/Cora WIP that I started but lost motivation for. I hope to revisit it someday, but if something won't get finished, that's probably it.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Character growth! I feel like I do a good job showing how characters have changed through the narrative over time, no matter if that's years or months or even a very impactful night.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Action is definitely one. I struggle to write combat scenarios (the closest I've gotten with it would be in Mission Control, I think). I'm also not always great at balancing background characters/b-plots. I've had comments before like, "where did x character go???" and I'm like "shit. forgot they were here tbh." But I'm working on it!

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I probably wouldn't do it, write dialogue not in English. The only exception might be German, since it's what I studied as a second language, but even then I'm rusty enough that I wouldn't trust it well. Anything else I'd be tossing in Google Translate and hoping for the best, so it's a no-go for me. I've used pet names or short phrases in another language before, but that's really the extent of it.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Technically Marvel but none of what I wrote is up anywhere (that it can be traced back to me, lol, all of those works are orphaned). That I actually count? Teen Wolf.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

I think it has to be Down to the Marrow. I just really, really loved writing that fic. I think it will always have a very special place in my heart. Before then, since it was so recent, I probably would've said Shall We Not Revenge?

The story behind my URL if you want to know is that i had a number of very fandom-specific or random URLS I'd switch around & tbh this is just like, a multi-fandom / personal account so I wanted something that was a fun reference but also a bit vague & personal to me that i could avoid changing in order to let people remain aware of who i was

I have always loved Stephen King, he is my favorite author & in 2017 I was truly in my "IT" era heh

Send me a ship and I’ll answer three questions based on if I ship it or not.

What made you ship it?

I can't remember who planted the idea in my brain (maybe Lucie?), but I remember becoming fascinated by them a few years ago. To me, Dru is a really compelling character, and it's tragic that we hardly get to see her interact with Buffy - tbh that alone is reason for me to devote time to thinking about them. (Yes, I DO ship Buffy with every minor female character in the show.)

What are your favorite things about the ship?

Since they're the farthest thing from canon, allow me to ramble for a moment about the potential I see here.

My absolute favourite canon interaction between them is in Crush when Buffy accuses Spike, as a vampire, of being unable to love... and Dru interjects: "We can, you know. We can love quite well... if not wisely."

The show explores many different angles and themes with Buffy and her relationships with Angel+Spike, and I think that going that route with Dru would reveal even more nuances in a Slayer/vampire relationship. Buffy sees vampires in the black & white way the general narrative does (soul = good, soulless = evil thing) and yet it clearly isn't that simple. And I believe Drusilla. I believe that vampires can feel love - even if love, for vampires, is sometimes synonymous with sex and pain and death (not necessarily in that order). And, for some reason, I'm convinced that if Buffy spent more time with Dru... she would believe that too. What did the Judge say about Drusilla and Spike? "You two stink of humanity. You share affection and jealousy." Compare to when he touches Angelus, and finds no trace of humanity whatsoever. What I'm trying to get at here, I think, is that Dru has layers in a way that Angelus does not. And that makes me want to see her interact more with Buffy, whether or not she has a soul.

I also have to give another shoutout to Surprise, where they literally share a dream. Buffy dreams that Drusilla is alive and when Drusilla sees her later she says: "I only dreamed you'd come. :)" Hello?? That level of mind-touchiness is something Buffy only shares with 2 people, that I can recall, and the other is Willow. (Not counting Primeval, thinking more about moments like The Weight of the World.) I find it incredibly fascinating that this could have been swept into a pile with the rest of Buffy's prophetic Slayer dreams, but no!! It's specifically noted that Drusilla was aware of the dream. So - what? Either Drusilla created it in Buffy's head, or she herself was somehow able to have a vision of Buffy's vision. Either way, it's got me very interested in what their connection could be.

I could go on here but this is probably lengthy enough lol

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I mean, I think shipping it is probably unpopular in and of itself, lmao. So - no, I don't imagine so!

imo they do have some similarities but since the shows are very different there's quite a few differences lol the similarities are both spike and damon can be reckless and do bad things even to buffy and elena but they also feel very bad when they hurt them another similarity is neither spike or damon expected to ever fall in love with buffy and elena it just happened and both ships didn't just happen there was buildup and development!! the differences are spike didn't have a soul something specific to btvs and he was bad for a very long time and damon was only the way he was because everyone rejected him and made him feel like a disappointment and both buffy/elena had a lot of differences as well where buffy thought about each and every decision before going for it while elena makes plans that normally don't go well leading to her needing saved a lot of the time!! I'd go more in depth of I wasn't so tired and in the hospital it's hard thinking of the similarities and differences tbh lmao

For a rundown of lore specific to Supernatural, here is the superwiki page for "werewolves."

But as most of us know, spn fudges their lore a lot. We as writers are perfectly welcome to do the same! You can pick and choose the parts of lore that suit your needs, for the most part.

But for traditional lore, I was trying to think of where most of my werewolf knowledge comes from, and tbh it's mostly an amalgamation of lore gleaned from movies and library books.

I think the compendium I checked out years ago was The Werewolf Book: The Encyclopedia of Shapeshifting Beings, but I am really guessing here because that was two states ago, and I can't access my library account any more to check. I can't even remember the name of the fic I just posted without looking it up, so we just have to accept the potential loss here lol. If that IS the book, it discusses many different shapeshifters, including discussing murderers and serial killers that are equated with shifters and where/how some lore and stories originated.

I think Anne Rice has some werewolf books, but I haven't read them.

Ostensibly I like the werewolf lore from HP, but it really doesn't contribute anything new other than maybe the wolfsbane potion to dilute the change. But wolfsbane is in a lot of lore afaik. It's even in Teen Wolf (the series), but I wouldn't go there for lore lol.

Speaking of tv series, the werewolf episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer use pretty classic lore, and it meshes well with Supernatural's in my opinion.

As for movies, I like Underworld and An American Werewolf [in London/Paris].

Wolf Man / The Wolf Man (2010) have a basis of pretty classic lore.

I haven't seen it, but The Company of Wolves seems to be on every rec list.

I loved how they did the spell and now every potential is a Slayer and there's more than one - bc it has been such a huge theme through the whole show how alone Buffy feels in this, even with all her friends etc, that she's the only one, the one responsible for saving the world time and time again, and no one fully understands it or can relate, and all of that is on her shoulders - but now they're all sharing that responsibility, can help each other, and they're just so powerful together

this episode didn't really feel all finale-like idk, not sure how much I liked it as a finale

it definitely is nowhere near as perfect as s5 finale was, I cried so much at that one (and I read that s5 was supposed to be last one so I can't help but compare) - I think s5 was more emotional and also it was like: I need more

but this one was more like an actual conclusion and it does feel like a satisfying end, something just felt a bit rushed or smth idk - I feel like they eneded it in a good place, and how it ended for all of them feels mostly satisfying (except the curiosity about Spike is all I can think about rn 😂😂)

overall, it was a good episode, I liked it, kinda meh finale (my mind might change tbh once I think about it, this is just first impression)

this episode felt... this is probably not the right word, but it's the only one I can think of: it felt distant (it doesn't make sense but this is how it feels, kinda detached for some reason, idk, I need to think about it before I made a post about the overall show haha)

I've been thinking about this episode for like half an hour and I think it's perfectly satisfying, but there's just something that bothers me that I didn't like and made me enjoy it less and I can't put my finger on why and it's driving me crazy lmao was it the pacing? who know lol

and the season as a whole was good, especially about halfway it picked up, with the potentials and the first and everything - gotta say, the first 10-ish episodes I was getting kinda bored, but when it picked up I was so invested I couldn't stop watching haha

so, I liked the season, tho it wasn't the best, but then again, final seasons rarely are lol

and I really really love this show, as much as I've been complaining about specific things and characters (and s4) - tbf, I'm Polish we complain a lot and I hate it but I can't help it, it's in my blood 😂😂
