It was very stressful. Ended up failing the marking period for English, but not by as much as I was failing before. Could still pull up the overall grade by the end of the semester.

#started writing a fic a few days ago. been a while since ive done that.#so far felix is very out of character but he's only gonna be the focus for the first chapter. plus i might go back and rewrite him.#maybe i should wait until the new chapter comes out tho so it's relevant to updated canon #anyway echos started brainrotting about chris in a /pos way so yeah a lot of my break has been rethinking old analysis #started to notice that he's a lot more fun if i get in the mindset that he's not poorly written he's just literally isaac's antagonist #also my siblings have been hyperfixating on DC so i watched a batman series. i think they're very disappointed in me for choosing batwheels.#snowy best vehicle #. what else #oh ive been doodling a nightmare design #been liking the idea of him and dream not being skeletons but dont wanna draw/write them as their canon human designs #because (if i'm correct) they get those designs at some point later in the story. and i don't want to confuse the timeline like that.#so ive been working on concept sketches for a less human design for them. ive also noticed that them being humans in canon actually #makes a lot of sense because the other guardians don't really have any connection between their species and it can be assumed that #whatever they are exists in the universes/multiverse they're from. so it makes sense for the twins to be humans because the utmv has humans.#. but i also like how they couldn't be given the human forms at first because of the lack of holes.#so the design im working on has gill/stripe-looking vents for the energy to come out of.#also gonna try to add little fire wisps into the design because i love their true forms so much #anyway i dont think there's been more that ive done. other than schoolwork. and watching qsmp.#oh i started working on an animatic. but i do that all the time. it'll be a bigger occasion if i finish one lol.#think im gonna still keep interaction on tumblr to a smaller scale because i wanna keep getting stuff done

I've been thinking about this a little like not enough to form much of a fully-fledged thought, but I like what my brain came up with so here's what I think about Stranger Things as a whole.

Stranger Things feels like an anthology that isn't an anthology. The characters and the basic plot/core are the same, but each season has a different vibe. Sidenote: I love thinking about the way things vibe lmao.

Season 1 is more sci-fi/monster battles and such. Season 2 is more slow-burn thriller. Season 3 is pop 80s with a horror backdrop and Season 4? Season 4 is leaning more heavily into the horror aspect of things.

I wanna say that it almost feels like growing up because the core is the same, but we are being presented things in a different perspective. As kids we know who we are and as we grow up we change and present ourselves differently kind of like the show, but at our cores we are still the same. We get the somewhat lighthearted fun of our preteens, the drama of the teenage years, and at its core is the almost insane hopefulness of youth even in the face of great adversity. This hope is almost completely taken by the time s4 ends.

That's what I see when I think of a coming of age story in relation to Stranger Things anyway.

Sol || Chaos: A Dimensional Analysis

Let's take the time to investigate some of the mysteries that lie between Sonic and Blaze's worlds. I want to study their connection and behavior, as well as what it could all mean in a bigger sense.

This isn't so much a solid theory as it is a collection of related topics to brainstorm about. I may add my own opinions, but they're just a few possibilities that make sense to me. I'd love to hear second opinions, though.

Parallels and Inconsistencies?

As described by both Eggman and Eggman Nega, both the Sol (Blaze's) Dimension and the Chaos (Sonic's) Dimension are parallel universes.

Despite Eggman Nega not originating from the Sol Dimension, there's enough evidence to believe this claim. There are several key details that parallel each other in both dimensions.

Sonic and Blaze are dimensional counterparts.

Tails and Marine are dimensional counterparts.

Both had a floating island that was home to an ancient civilization. In other words, Angel Island and Pirate Island are dimensional counterparts.

The chaos emeralds and sol emeralds are dimensional counterparts.

South Island and Southern Island are dimensional counterparts.

Sky Sanctuary and Sky Babylon are dimensional counterparts.

This pattern seems to indicate that if an important detail or event happens in one dimension, then it's supposed to be reflected in the other, even if there are smaller differences in between.

An example would be Angel Island and Pirate Island. Angel Island started off on the ground, but then began to float and now stays in the sky. Inversely, Pirate Island sounds like it originated in the sky, but then fell to the ocean and now stays on the ground beneath. Despite these differences, they balance out and show that these two islands are still connected.

However, there are also several gaps in this pattern that seem out of place.

Blaze is royalty, while Sonic's family history and origins are unknown.

There's no mention or hints of the Sol Dimension having a counterpart of the Master Emerald.

There's no mention or hints of Project Shadow's counterpart existing. Did it ever happen in the Sol Dimension?

Does the Jeweled Scepter have a Chaos Dimension counterpart?

Knuckles doesn't have his own dimensional counterpart?

Since Eggman Nega originated in the Chaos Dimension's future, does that mean Eggman has no Sol Dimension counterpart, either?

Before, the parallels between the dimensions still had differences, but the differences balanced each other out. These gaps, on the other hand, feel one sided and off balance. It's like they're either supposed to have a counterpart, or they were never supposed to happen at all.

It could be argued that it's a matter of these gaps not happening yet, like how Blaze just met Marine recently, but that raises another question.

Why did she only just meet Marine in Rush if Sonic has known Tails for a long time before that? If these events are supposed to mirror each other, shouldn't they happen in both dimensions in the same chronological order, at the same time? And why did the Sol Dimension need Sonic and Tails to make that happen?

How did the Chaos Dimension and Sol Dimension get so out of sync? Maybe we can find the clues if we take a closer look at the gaps themselves.

Question 1: Is Sonic Royalty?

We know next to nothing about Sonic's life before the first game. His past is an enigma. The most we know are little tidbits and fun facts, some of which are from the creator himself.

Sonic is an orphan.

The biplane in Sonic 2 originally belonged to him, not Tails.

He already met Eggman before the first game took place.

He was born in a place called Christmas Island.

Sonic felt "nostalgic" about Angel Island before going there in Sonic 3.

Aside from that, nothing about Sonic's childhood was ever mentioned in the games.

Meanwhile, Blaze has an established backstory. She's the princess of the Sol Empire, and the guardian of the Sol Emeralds.

Sonic and Blaze are dimensional counterparts of one another. By this logic, wouldn't the Chaos Dimension keep them mirrored by having Sonic born royalty as well?

Also, let's not forget Sonic and the Black Knight. Sonic shows up in an Arthurian alternate dimension, and then successfully pulls the legendary sword from the stone, a feat that can only be accomplished by someone of royal descent. Caliburn, the sword himself, confirms this in the last cutscene.

The implications that Sonic is royalty are pretty strong. So then, why is he an orphan roaming around and fighting a mad scientist? Where is the Sol Empire's counterpart? Did something happen in Sonic's world that didn't happen in Blaze's?

Question 2: Where is Knuckles' Counterpart?

Sonic has Blaze, and Tails has Marine, but Knuckles seems to have been left out.

Some sources may say that Blaze could be considered both Sonic and Knuckles' counterpart, but to have two different people share one person as their alternate dimension counterpart doesn't sound right.

Knuckles is descended from the Knuckles Clan of the echidnas. In Sonic Rush Adventure, the echidnas are the species that mirror the ancient civilization from the Sol Dimension's Pirate Island, a civilization Blaze shares no relation to.

There's something else to consider as well. Knuckles is the guardian of the Master Emerald, not the chaos emeralds. And yet, we've never seen or heard any mention of the Master Emerald having a counterpart, or of the sol emeralds being connected to a singular, bigger emerald.

I have these questions regarding this:

Did something happen to the Master Emerald's counterpart?

Did the absence of the Master Emerald's counterpart make Blaze act as a substitute?

Was something supposed to happen to the Master Emerald instead? Something that would've prevented Knuckles' existence?

Question 3: Project Shadow?

Did the Sol Dimension's equivalent of Project Shadow ever happen? We've seen no signs or clues that it ever did. Sonic Rush Adventures may have only let us see a fraction of Blaze's world, but there is something missing that should've been there if it did.

Eggman's Sol counterpart. Where is he, and why has he never shown himself? Eggman Nega is canonically Eggman's descendent from the Chaos Dimension's future, so it can't be him.

Did the absence of Project Shadow's counterpart prevent him from existing? If Eggman was already born by the time the project started, then I somewhat doubt it.

In that case, did the absence of Project Shadow's counterpart prevent Eggman's counterpart from turning evil? It's possible, assuming Gerald's madness was where the evil Robotnik lineage stemmed from.

What if it's Sol counterpart DID happen, but the outcome was very different from the Chaos Dimension's version? What would've changed one, but not the other?

Question 4: Does the Jeweled Scepter Have a Chaos Dimension Counterpart?

The Jeweled Scepter is a powerful item created to harness the Power of the Stars. The Power of the Stars is what allows the Chaos and Sol dimensions to coexist. This scepter is said to hold more power than the chaos emeralds and sol emeralds combined.

How odd it is, that this item only resides in one dimension and not the other. Out of everything else, you would think that keys between coexisting dimensions would either have one for each, or none.

Yet we only know of one's existence in the Sol Dimension. The only other scepter we know of is the Scepter of Darkness from Sonic 06. That thing's short enough to be a wand, so unless the longer staff-like part is missing somewhere, I just don't see it being connected. I won't completely dismiss the idea, though.

Other than that, is there really no more evidence of an item similar to the Jeweled Scepter existing in the Chaos Dimension? Unless...

This rod-like object the blue hedgehog figure in the mural is holding, could this be it?

Conclusions?

So far, there isn't enough evidence to confidently say anything. Although, I think I have a general idea of what could be going on.

I think something happened in the past that severely damaged the connection between the Chaos Dimension and Sol Dimension. Events that were supposed to be parallel ended up breaking the pattern.

That one break diverted the intended path each timeline was supposed to go. Connected events and details became more sporadic and the balance between them got worse, to the point of it threatening to entirely cut each dimension away from each other.

A timeline reset would do no good. The events would only play out exactly the same as before, and having someone go back to change it would only add another cut in the damaged connection.

The Chaos Dimension and Sol Dimension are focused on finding a middle ground to direct their futures towards, so that they can begin to mirror each other again. They need Sonic and Blaze to drive these changes and create new connections through their actions.

This could be one of the reasons why Sonic and Tails ended up meeting Marine in Rush Adventure. Perhaps Blaze was never supposed to meet Marine at first, but then the Sol Dimension guided Marine to her so that they could begin reflecting Sonic and Tails' relationship.

It could also be why Sonic stumbled upon the chaos emeralds by chance when he was a kid. The Chaos Dimension is trying to make him reflect Blaze's role of being the emeralds' guardian, but he keeps sending them away when they're not in danger.

What event caused this break? Again, I'm not certain. My best guess is that something happened to the Master Emerald's counterpart when the Sol ancient civilization tried to seal the counterpart of Chaos about 3,000 years ago. (Assuming this event had a counterpart)

Perhaps Chaos' counterpart was never sealed in the Sol Dimension, and the ongoing rampage from the Sol guardian caused a dimensional rift?

Could the disappearance of Chaos' counterpart have kept the murals on their island from being made, preventing the creation of the Sol Dimension's Ultimate Lifeform?

And how would this have affected Sonic's life enough for it to stray so far from Blaze's? Could Chaos being sealed and Project Shadow have changed his future that much? Why?

For all we know, the break in the connection could've happened even before that. Could it have something to do with Sky Sanctuary and Sky Babylon? Could the Babylon Garden from Sonic Riders have been involved somehow?

Why does this being from Sonic Riders hold a suspicious resemblance to Blaze (Purple and has hair spikes with dark tips)? Could he be Chaos' counterpart? If not, then where is it?

Is Babylon Garden a broken off piece of the flying continent that fell to the ocean and later became Pirate Island? Could the same thing go for the Sky Babylon? What would that imply about Sky Sanctuary?

So many questions, so much headache.

What if Wei Ying had died when he was a child and became a God— kinda like in a TGCF way.

His life would be the same but he dies (maybe from starvation and frostbite / hypothermia) before Jiang Fengmian could take him in.

He’d be the God of bunnies and demonic cultivation!

I’m thinking he could change his body (age appearance) at will and would often visit Gusu and Yunmeng to meet the Jiangs and The Lans.

He would “grow up” with them (usually making friends by drowning them in bunnies) and would “coexist” with them.

But I picture him not being a student in the Cloud Recesses— though he watches over them from afar like a guardian angel-type of way.

But when it came to his cultivation— he would hide it cause he knows it could harm others and if he used it, he’d pretend nothing happened (kinda like in a comical way) .

He wouldn’t want to hurt his only friends (JC, NHS & LZ aka future hubby) .

When it comes to his “death” , I’m thinking the clans obviously found out about his cultivation and keeping his word to protecting the Wens—

BUT they also think this God betrayed them (since WWX was one of the best cultivators in cannon) by siding with the “enemy” instead of using his godly power to aid THEM.

But in this AU, WWX doesn’t actually die cause he’s a God—

So he basically just peaces out for 13 years to make people believe he “died” .

During his time away from the (familiar) mortals, he meets MXY and watches over him once the abuse starts and his mother passed. Kinda like becoming MXY’s guardian angel once again.

He summons bunnies to play with MXY so the mortal boy wouldn’t feel alone and keep him protected if the beatings became too much for the fragile one.

Eventually MXY couldn’t take the pain but instead of continuing on with the ritual, WWX would either take the boy under his wing (aka adopt him) or “become” MXY without the ritual.

I picture WWX still being a God (obviously) , so his immortality is still a thing and that clearly means he’ll live out everyone (LZ, LSZ, etc) BUT THAT DOESNT MEAN THE AU HAS A SAD ENDING.

I’m gonna stop before I make this too depressing.

I might draw a picture of this one day but we all know my art skills ain’t great and I might add more later.

fun fact about me : i take a creative writing class! second fun fact: i hate this class with a passion!

to make it fully clear i don't hate the class for what it is or what it teaches, i hate for how its taught and how they go about teaching the class.

there very little "hey just write and we teach as we go" and more "hey, this is how you should write and then well do a bit of writing in small increments"

i hate it! i think that writing shouldn't be put in such tiny boxes! this is a class about being creative and you are stunting the creativity by telling us all of these little thing's about the writing process! this is not the olden day guys, stop teaching us all about this little things.

teach us how to find more ways to grow, don't tell me to write, help me to write.

Do you have any advice and how to write a long fic?

I'll encourage long fic writers to add on in the notes, but as someone who tends to prefer short and medium-length fic, I'll tell you how I go about it.

Get a premise that you just absolutely love. You're going to be writing this thing for months, if not longer, so you want it to be something you're willing to spend a lot of time thinking about.

Embrace subplots. You'll have your main plotline that you want to see through from beginning to end, but you can also weave in some subplots here or there. The way I do this so that I don't get lost down a rabbit hole is that I always make sure that every chapter has at least 1 thing that moves the main plot forward and then if I want to spend 1-2K with some side characters doing something fun I can do that as well. Subplots can extend for the length of the full narrative, but they can also just last a chapter or three. If you're used to writing short fic, these might give you that familiar feeling of "completion"

A chapter is only as long as it needs to be. Don't get hung up on having a consistent chapter length. Don't get hung up on hitting some arbitrary number every time. Instead, figure out what the next part of your story needs to include and write however many words it takes to get that chunk across. Varying your chapter lengths is a normal thing to do and not something to stress about.

The next thing that I find important personally may or may not be relevant to you, but I find that I can't plot anything in much detail. If I get too into the nitty gritty with my plotting, it just feels like I've already written it. I need to keep it at the level of "And then A and B meet C and hijinks ensue." I can figure out the particular hijinks later. It's the characters meeting up that's the next important thing for me to figure out. Getting too far ahead of myself is a death knell for me in writing long fics, but there are other writers who swear by it. Test out different ways of approaching it and see what works for you.

As someone who tends to write more briefly, another feature that's common to longer fics is more extensive descriptions. People spend time painting visual pictures of the setting or the characters or the actions that are happening. Write the more bare-bones style that focuses more on dialogue (if you're like me) and then go back and read through what you've just written and see if there are opportunities to add in more detail. This can lead to some really interesting characterization choices and also help you out with worldbuilding.

When it comes to worldbuilding, you don't have to get it all on the page. You just need to share what's relevant for the reader in that moment and what is useful to lay out now so that it's already there in a future chapter. You can have an encyclopedic knowledge of how your world works in your head, but it's not actually necessary. No one is going to be quizzing you later - and if they do, you can always figure it out at that point.

Most important for me when I'm trying to get myself to the end of a longer fic, have a friend or a group of friends who are also into what you're writing - or at least willing to hear you get excited about it. Being able to get excited about your work is so important. It's like a bottle of water being handed to you on mile 10 of a marathon.
