i was doodling a bunch of critters for some reason. i think it was low-key inspired by @mossworm's art and in my head it was for some kind of critter collection game idea

me and my @kinslee-the-normal-human's oc. we used to rp a lot and they'd get into all sorts of bullshit with mr. tall echidna always being like i told you this would happen and being generally upset about it but his teeny tiny girlfriend could not care less. this time it was about vampires but he's just vibing

one of my ocs just kinda turns into fire when he goes super and i thought the idea of his clothes burning off was hilarious

hard to explain but my friend made an au where like every possible fusion of two characters that could exist did exist all at once in a weird little sci-fi society and we roleplayed it a ilttle bit. my main character for it was an amy/manic fusion named pippin and they had anxiety

in the background you can see salyut (he was actually made for this au as a shadow/biolizard fusion), maroon (a shadow/knuckles fusion), and... man i forget his name but he was a sonic/shadow fusion. the character in the second to last panel is a mephiles/tikal fusion who was part of the evil sci-fi government or whatever and she scared pippin a lot. i might repurpose pippin because they're very cute

@kinslee-the-normal-human told me that you can tell if someone is a furry based on how they draw dogs so i drew a dog and she said i was a furry based on how i drew the back legs. she was right but i don't get the test lmao

one of my ocs sort of got sucked into amy's family unit and he's in a sort of younger-ish sibling role to her (despite being older) and she makes him very happy and he loves her very much. they are friends :)

COMMISSION INFO (February 2023)

It's been nearly four years since the last commission post - time to change things up! Feel free to ask questions if you have any!

PRICES (all are minimum prices)

Line art - 10 USD.

Flat colors - 15 USD. Shading +5 USD. Simple backgrounds are free, detailed are +10 USD. Transparency is free on all pieces. Please note that while I love space/galaxy backgrounds, they do count as detailed or complex.

Character reference sheet - 20 USD for front and back view. +10 for the addition of 3/4 view. Flat colors only, comes with color palette.

Additional subjects/characters: +5 USD for each in lineart, +10 for each with color. No additional cost for shading and background past the base additional price in single-subject pieces.

THINGS I DO AND DON’T DO

I do not stream myself drawing, but if you want WIP screenshots, I can send those your way. These will mostly be done using Gyazo.

You can request I post the finished piece on tumblr, alongside a link to whatever your chosen social media is (tumblr, twitter, etc). By default, I will send it privately if I can do so. I reserve the right to use all commissions as examples for future commission posts.

I will do anthropomorphic animals, monsters, aliens, and robots of the Mega Man level of complexity. Complex mechs (transformers, gundam, etc) are off the table. I'm typically open to drawing for most fandoms, but I do reserve the right to decline any commission, no matter how much I'm being offered.

I will not do NSFW content.

I will draw blood and injury, but no true gore. Robogore is fine.

OCs require some form of reference - you can use a dollmaker, write something up, character creation from a video game, or even a combination of these. I may very well ask questions if I'm unsure of something - but don't worry, this is so I can make sure I do everything right!

I'm not confident in my ability to do anything with kissing, but if you want people holding hands or each other, I'll gladly do it.

HOW TO PAY AND OTHER DETAILS

When we’ve settled on the price, I’ll give you my paypal to make the payment. I can be contacted here on tumblr via IMs easily, and for those that already have my discord, you are more than welcome to use that as a contact.

I ask that you note down the credits somewhere if you use the art, or just reblog it if you have me put it in a post. It’s common courtesy to credit the artist, that way if others like it they know who made it and who to go to if they want more. Please look to my Terms of Service and Stuff for what you can and can’t do with a piece.

Trickster God

Yesterday, after aeons, I finally got the inspiration to draw one of my DnD-themed OCs and got so focused on it that I shared some WIP screenshots with my discord friends and not on here!

Time to fix that! :D

This OC is one that went through many changes since his very first iteration, but this version here is probably my favourite one!

This is the most recent version of this OC and was meant to be used in a DnD-esque story that I ended up not writing.

Since I was struggling to find the right references for the poses - and also I wanted to see what I was picturing in my mind - I made him a miniature on HeroForge and tried some poses before settling on one and taking a couple of screenshots as reference.

Then I chose one of the screenshots as a reference and started drawing from there.

I used the snake half-body bc it was the best I could find to get the pose I wanted... also I think that snakes might fit him more than I previously thought lmao

I wanted to give him an unhinged smile to underline his deranged and chaotic personality.

Then I proceeded to define more the shapes of his body, accessories and the smoky part of his body before moving onto the lineart.

Then I pulled up the old palette file I made some time ago and started to lay down the flats, shading right away only the earrings, piercings, necklace and gem bangles... while I opted for the lazy route for the fabric bracelet and the cloth on his chest, and went on Unsplash to find a nice copyright-free photo I could use and cut two small parts of it and used the "free transform" and "mesh transform" tools to make them fit the shapes.

And then I took the skin colour and on a different layer I mixed it with some lighter shades of it and then proceeded to use a mix-colour brush and the blur tool to create the smoky "tail". I also put a clipped layer to change the colour of the smoke's lineart to make it match.

I still have to finish shading the whole thing and the smoke (even though I have no clue on how to shade the smoke clouds) and I wanted to draw a "trippy" background to complete it all.

Probably I'll have to redraw the mouth or at least put some more effort and try to draw the teeth instead of just slapping there a zig-zag line.

Also, I might have to change the colour of the belly button ring as copper looks too similar to his skin colour when zoomed out...

Ok I didn’t want to write a 10 page essay in the notes so I’ll just show screenshots

The first one, I didn’t report it or anything because the colors are very different so it wasn’t straight up theft or heavy referencing but yes it stepped a line so I confronted them and they denied about it and lied about referencing it. I got more opinions In case I was overreacting and it was pointed out even the face markings were similar

I tried confronting them calmly and that was their response. They eventually deleted the comment but I managed to catch screenshots

The first 2 images i decided to not to do anything about because they /might/ have seen the design before but either way it wasn’t referenced in any way that should make me uncomfortable so I didn’t bring it up again

I wasn’t going to report them or anything, if they are in fact surely were banned for this I did not report them

I did confront them in dms because i realize it probably wasn’t the best to comment my suspicions on their wall.

They changed some aspects of the design but this one is basically just a redraw of someone else’s character. (In dms they did admit to doing this, after showing them this example they said “sorry.” “I won’t do it /again/.” So they did not argue that they referenced this design again

I did see this posted about an older design that they were selling in their ping chat. I don’t think the design itself was heavily referenced but the pose was flipped and the formatting was very alike, from the text lineart to the color pallete and expressions

Ofc I’m pretty sure they denied this as well and said that they had never seen that oc before, which I don’t believe, judging from these, but you can form your own opinion about that

Last of the screenshots, I only got the first half of the convo but I think now they’re banned so

They said that they didn’t know it was bad, but that is contradicted by them trying to cover it up and deny it in the first place. Basically they just didn’t know I guess but I find that hard to believe due to their past responses

Over all they were pretty nice about it and cooperative. I don’t know /exactly/ why they were banned, or if anyone found out they had referenced other designs a little too much, personally I think it only deserves a warning or hidden profile but yeah, that’s basically it.

Was sich liebt, das neckt sich. (Translation: Where there is love, so is teasing.)

My contribution for Sokai Day 2019. I just can’t help how cute those two are together! Unfortunately, I managed to twist my wrist some days ago (though it only got really bad yesterday because I was clumsy and twisted it YET AGAIN), which rendered me unable to finish the shading in time because I can’t hold my pen for long. In situations like this I really wish healing magic would exist for real... Unfortunately the best magic I am able to work are cold bandages :( Anyways, I will definetly finish it once it is healed up though. I still wanted to post it for Sokai Day though, so... Here it is. Honest feedback on drawing and storytelling is always appreciated :) I am still starting out at art (especially digital art) and constructive feedback really helps me to improve.

This was my first try ever on a comic. I am quite pleased with how it turned out, even though there are certainly still things to improve (like my speechbubbles. I wanted them to be soft, but they turned out kinda weird... Guess I’m going to try out a different way to do them the next time).

I tried out some new techniques, most significantly the paint-over technique, with this comic and I think that it really is a huge stretch from my last digital fanart. Also, this is actually the first time I made a digital sketch as well. Unfortunately, Kairi’s hair suffered a little from this experiments: you can clearly see I drew it in two different ways. By the time I was done with the lineart, there wasn’t enough time left to redraw one version, which is why Kairi unfortunately looks a little different in her close-up panel. Sorry for that.

Also, this wouldn’t have been possible without the help of many others.

First of all, thanks to the awesome @davidrevoy for his awesome almost-2-hour-tutorial on how to make a comic page as well as the comic page template. It really helped me a lot creating this! You can find the tutorial as well as all the free content related to it here. Mr Revoy, if you’re reading this, I hope you like the little Easter Egg I included into this. (For everyone else: the cat on Sora’s t-shirt is Carrot, one of the titular characters from Mr Revoy’s comic Pepper & Carrot, which happens to be my favorite webcomic. Art Theft and Tracing: BlackMgaic #289838

A few folks from various FR discords have been keeping an eye on the user BlackMgaic after repeatedly posting in art channels claiming traced lineart was their own creation. We've now found six instances - and counting - of tracing and theft that shows this isn't a one-time thing, but a habit. Users should not commission them, and those that have should ask for a refund. (If BlackMgaic doesn't respond or refuses, I will offer to reimburse every commissioner involved.) it is uncertain whether this user was taking commissions for on-site currency only, or if their reach extended to USD commissions as well. After being banned from Flight Chatter and the Artists' Lounge, user BlackMgaic has deleted their art shop where the stolen lineart was found, but here is the webcache for it and here are screenshots of the deleted thread.

ONLY reach out to them if you are a commissioner and need a refund, or are an artist that has been stolen from. This post is meant to spread awareness and to protect commissioners. For those of you who noticed my post the other day, I talked about possibly holding commissions in order to help get the money I need to repair my car. I don’t yet know how expensive the repair service will be, but the parts I need for repair are relatively expensive--thus, I’m opening commissions..for the first time.
