HAPPY 16TH BIRTHDAY!!! To this elderly bapy boye!!! he...!!!
#cats#ghhbbb this is the first time I've genuinely considered tumblr blazing a post lol but no.. i shant.. I feel too weird putting financial#information into tumblr or whatever unless I made like a seperate bank account or something not associated with anyhting else lol#but I gave it serious contemplation which is really sayng something (the evil magical spell that all cats cast over u by their perfection)#ANYWAY.................... old man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#it's technically like march 8th but I did his party a little early. I have other pictures to post later maybe too..hrmm#The '1' candle is actually a '4' candle with the side part cut off because they didn't have any 1s#I went all out (like under $15 still lol) and got new birthday decorations for him instead of using the same old#ones from the past like 5 birthdays that I've done for the cats lol..#His theme was rainbows mostly in as light of colors as I could find#The legal age to drive a car in the US is 16 so.... honk honk beep beep.. I shall go out and buy him the most expensive car on the market#as soon as March 8th comes. then he can run little errands (probably mostly getting kibbles or chicken somewhere)#stealing the rotisserie chickens from walmart or something lol#AND they would let him have them. He would drive up and walk inside and they'd call the manager to come over#and they would be so moved by his presence and his big goofy stare that they would just be like..... okey.. have all the chicken in the#entire store. Actually. have the store. it's yours now. And This would continue all the way up the chain until he was handed#the entire walmart company. And every other company. a boy who owns everything. probably wouldnt use it for evil. he'd just abolish#everything and then focus on eating chickens.. ........ chibken son...

You read the words over and over again until you couldn’t bear it. But your eyes wouldn’t leave the screen. Embarrassment kissed a blush to your cheeks. How could you ever face him again, after that? You didn’t even want to try and understand your meaning, your mentality. You just wanted to forget it, forget your words. The words that weren’t even true, you knew, you hoped.
Your confidence to say those words surprised you, but still, you’d give anything to take them back. The worst part of it all was knowing that he saw it. There was no hoping he didn’t, or praying he had his phone off. He saw it. He knew. And you couldn’t take that back. The embarrassment, the humiliation, you couldn’t stop them from overpowering you. At that moment you wanted nothing more than to hide in a pile of blankets, bury yourself in a book, and escape reality.
A grunt from Lila tore your eyes away.
“What’s that?” She was staring right at your phone, right at his name.
You dropped it onto the bed, “Uhh nothing.”
“Did I just see Jaemin’s name on your phone?”
“No. Nope.”
“Did it just read ‘I miss you’?”
“Don’t think so…”
“Y/n….”
“Well, you kissed Haechan!” It was the only thing you could think of.
“What’re you on about?” Her voice up an octave. You could see her smile building.
“What the fuck did we do last night.” She held her face in her hands, laughing. Or crying. Maybe both. She must’ve been confused as well. She peered through her fingers to look at you.
“You’re situation is still worse.”
“No shit Sherlock.” You joined in on the laugh.
You took out your phone again, reluctantly. Your eyes caught glimpse of your words once again before you pressed ‘delete’. You needed to forget. Perhaps the more you looked at it, the greater the chance you might trick yourself into believing it, believing the words. Maybe the more you read it, the easier it was to fall for your hearts trick.
“Just try to forget about it.” Lila said.
“I will.”
———
Monday [2:11pm]
It was safe to say, you didn’t forget about it, any of it. It rung inside your ears daily. You suffocated in the memory of your words, in his response - silence. There was no point in telling Renjun because nothing could save you from that, nothing could bring you back. It was your own mistake, your own humiliation, and you had to deal with it. That was the first day you were glad Jaemin wasn’t in. You were glad you didn’t hear him run in late for class, or catch his eye in the hall. You were grateful you didn’t see him. It allowed you to relax.
“Hello? Earth to y/n” Renjun said whilst waving a hand in front of your face.
He pulled you back from your daydream, brought you back to reality. It was just you, Renjun and Lila sitting at the cafeteria table
“What’re you doing for tomorrow?”
“What’re happening tomorrow?” You replied.
Renjun rolled his eyes, “Uhm your birthday.”
You never imagined you’d become so forgetful that you’d forget your own birthday. You’d probably need a Facebook reminder to remember it. Your mind has been so swamped lately. Confused and embarrassed and everything under the sun.
“How am I the one to remember your birthday?” Renjun laughed. “So what you gonna do?”
You shrugged your shoulders, “I don’t know, nothing?”
Renjun let out a huge sigh, shaking his head. He almost couldn’t believe it. Stuck in thought attempting to comprehend the fact that you don’t want to do something special for your birthday. To you, a birthday was just another day of the year. It would be nice to hang out with friends, sure, but you didn’t need to. You would be just as fine chilling at home.
“We’re doing something.” He slammed his hands onto the table, a fire in his eyes, “Let me plan it.”
He looked so excited, how could you say no. “Fine,” you sighed, “but I’m warning you, don’t go overboard.”
Renjun never mastered simplicity. He was always extra, in everything he did, especially when it came to planning. But you loved it anyway.
———
Tuesday [5:48pm]
Ten said your present was on the way, but you knew he forgot.
You were grateful for Renjun hosting your birthday party because you couldn’t imagine putting the effort into it yourself. You were worried that it would be extravagance at its finest, and you didn’t even know who was going to be there. But you were grateful nonetheless. Walking up the steps, you wondered if Jaemin knew it was your birthday, you wondered if he cared.
But you waved that thought off fast, as the door opened for you. Renjun stood in the doorway, a birthday balloon in his hand.
“Good evening y/n.” he smiled.
“Hello Renjun.”
He passed you the balloon, and led you into the sitting room.
He turned down his extravagance just for you. There were a few balloons and party decorations scattered around the room, and music softly playing in the background. You noticed Lila sitting down. And all of a sudden, it was the trio once again. Nostalgia warmed your heart. But with the addition of Jeno and Haechan who were walking in with food, lots of food.
You remembered the bet, that awful bet. But you couldn’t hate it, you didn’t regret it. If it wasn’t for the bet you would never be there. It was the bet that brought you all together, surrounded by old friends and new ones. Surrounded by friends who cared.
There was already so much food on the table, but Haechan added delivered pizza to it anyways. Jeno was carrying drinks. There was a board game laid out on the table.
“I know I’ve banned monopoly, but this is a special occasion,” Renjun said.
He banned monopoly for good reason too. You tend to become overly competitive when monopoly is involved, you couldn’t help it. You may have just maybe hit Renjun across the face when he cheated. He forgave you, but it took a while.
You pulled Renjun in for a hug.
You had never appreciated him more than at that moment. You were so touched you could nearly cry.
“Nice gesture, but I don’t feel safe around monopoly anymore.” you said as you let go. You lost control around monopoly. You couldn’t deny it.
“Oh thank god. And you don’t feel safe? I’m the one that got hit!”
“Whatever whatever, but we’re not playing Mario Kart.”
“Don’t do this to me y/n, I just got better.” Renjun began to whine.
“Mario Bros?”
“I guess it is your birthday.” He tried to pout but ended up laughing instead. “Mario Bros it  is.”
Before you could sit down to play, Jeno pulled you back by the hood.
“I didn’t forget.” he said. A book in his hand. “It’s the second part to the last one I gave you.”
“Did you underline your favourite parts?” You couldn’t help but ask.
“Only for you.”
“Thank you Jeno.”
Haechan joined in, “I didn’t know what to get you, so I got you the one thing I know you love.” He handed you a set of coffee capsules.
“But I don’t own a coffee machine…”
“Just like- just open them up? No?”
“No Haechan but thanks for the effort.”
“Anytime y/n.” He smiled that innocent smile.
Lila swore she would give you her present tomorrow, and Renjun said the party was his gift to you.
All you guys did all night was play video games, ate pizza and chilled. But it was perfect. You couldn’t have asked for anything more. It was relaxing, and casual, and just what you wanted. You doubted how well Renjun knew you.
But something strange happened when you were watching them play.
Everyone was laughing, smiling. You joined in but something was pulling you back, isolating you. You were with everyone, but you felt alone. It was an emptiness growing inside you, harassing your emotions, pestering your mind. You tried to swallow it, but it was consuming you and your thoughts. You noticed Jaemin’s absence for the hundredth time that night, you could feel it.
You remembered the weight of his gaze, the look in his eye. You wished to smell the amber and musk once more, or to see the curl of his smirk. You craved to see him, to feel him. His absence was becoming too much. You were remembering, wishing too much. Your mind was a mess, your smile was dismantling, and Lila was beginning to notice. Her eyes analysed you. She realised.
“Do you want a drink y/n?” she called you out.
“Sure.”
You followed her out to the kitchen, until she stopped.
“What’s up?” she asked.
“I just can’t forget about it.”
A chuckle escaped her mouth, “is that it?” She knew there was more.
You paused, hesitated, “I just can’t forget about him. Like what if it’s true? What if I miss him? Hell what if I like him? No I don’t, I can’t. I just I-“
“Stop spiralling. Breath.”
You took in some air. And then she hit you with the facts.
“You know Jaemin has a bad rep. You know he’s arrogant and cocky.”
“Jeno was like that.” you interrupted.
“But Jeno is different. Jeno has changed. Jeno didn’t disappear. You know Jaemin can be such a prick, you know that, but you don’t know much more about him.”
But she didn’t know Jaemin like you did. She didn’t know how close you two got, she didn’t know what happened. Lila didn’t feel the warmth and comfort when he wrapped his arms around you. She didn’t hear the hitch in his voice when he brought up his father. She didn’t see the vulnerability in his dark eyes when he basked beneath the moonlight. She didn’t understand.
“He’s bad news y/n, I’m saying this because I care for you. Just, try not to overthink everything, let your mind rest. He probably didn’t even take notice of the message.”
Those words hurt more than they should’ve, affected you more than they were meant to.
You took another deep breath and turned around. As you were walking back, Lila coughed, loudly. You heard a light switch click. And suddenly everything went silent. You stopped just before the door, but Lila pushed you from behind.
The room was dark, you couldn’t see anything. A flame grew in the darkness, flickering. And that’s when you saw it. The candle, the cake, everyone.
“Happy Birthday~” they began to sing.
You were comforted by the smiles on their faces, just by them being there. That was the first birthday where you weren’t embarrassed when everyone sang ‘happy birthday’. You had no reason to be embarrassed. You just enjoyed it.
Soon enough Renjun was holding the cake in front of you. The flicker of the flame taunted you. So you blew it out. Darkness cascaded around you. Everyone began to cheer.
And right there, in the midst of darkness, you made your wish.
———
The isolation you felt disappeared as you walked home.
But still, Jaemin popped into your head, flooded it. You wondered what he was doing, who he was with. All these questions yet you knew they would never be answered. It was becoming easier to think of him, think about him. You felt your grip loosen over your control, over your power. But whilst it was getting easier to wonder about him, it was getting harder to forget. About everything.
Before you entered your apartment, you noticed something was off. Something had been shoved into your mailbox, in a rush. You walked over and attempted to pull it out, but it was stuck. By the time you got it out, the wrapping paper had been torn off.
But it revealed something beautiful.
It was a book. The book you read with Jaemin, in his library, under the light of the moon.
A flurry of memories hit you. But warmed your heart as well. He remembered. He remembered it was your birthday. He remembered what book you read. He remembered you. A sense of urgency raced through your heart. Despite his disappearance, he made sure to give you a birthday present, he tried. Your heart fluttered. A burning desire ignited inside of you. A craving that you couldn’t get rid of. You had to do something. You had to thank him.
You started walking. You had no idea what you were going to say, but you had to say something. You had enough of his silence. Enough of his disappearance. You started to run. You forgot about your message, about his reputation. You forgot about everything, except for his face. His eyes, his smile, his hair. You had been suppressing feelings you always knew were there.
You hated Jaemin at the start, and maybe that’s why you hated your feelings. You hated that you cared, you hated how you noticed his absence, you hated how he had an effect on you. You were becoming like all the other girls, victim to his charm, fallen prey to his lure. But you didn’t care. Not anymore.
You witnessed pain on his face, you saw a part of him he kept hidden, you knew him. You were sure. He was good. You were sure.
You could only run so far before you arrived, standing in front of his house. It was dark, but you could always spot Jaemin. Your heart warmed.
He was sitting on the steps, head in his hands, the darkness embracing him.
You took one step closer. Still catching your breath.
He looked up, and you looked into his eyes for the first time in ages. You forgot how his features were carved by Aphrodite herself, how his eyes held all the stars in the sky. You forgot how intense his gaze was, how hard it was to hold. You forgot how good he looked. You let out a shaky sigh. He didn’t even seem surprised to see you.
“What’re you doing here?” he said. Voice empty, monotone, dead.
You just held up the book.
“Did you think I forgot?” There was no emotion behind his words.
“Yes.”
He looked down, letting out a soft chuckle.
“Look, y/n, you need to go.” Whatever amusement filled his voice before was gone.
“Where the hell have you been? What’s wrong?” you couldn’t hold back.
“You just need to leave.”
“Why?”
He stood up and began to close the space between you.
“I don’t have to explain myself.”
“If all you were going to do was tell me to leave why’d you give me a present? Why give me this book? You knew I’d come, so why?”
There was tension strained between you both. He took one last step closer. You looked up at him. The darkness in his eyes consumed you.
“If you read it you would’ve realised. It was a goodbye gift.”
“Are you going somewhere?”
“No. But I can’t do this anymore.”
“Do what Jaemin? Make sense.”
“Your message? I can’t do that. I can’t reply to that. I know you know about the bet. That’s what this was. That’s why I kissed you. That’s why I tried. Did you really think I cared about you?”
You took a step back, shuddering at his words. He was different, he was cruel. It was becoming hard to breathe, his scent suffocating. You were drowning in your memories, in his words.
He leaned in close, so close you could almost kiss him. And he spoke in that low, husky voice:
“I told you you were going to regret this. I warned you.”
Before you could look him in the eyes, before you could respond, before you could breathe, you heard the door click. A girl came out, wearing a dress filled with roses, hair neatly did, makeup perfect. She was perfect. And she was staring right at Jaemin.
“Are you coming in?” she called out, not even sparing you a glance.
“Yeah, yeah I am.”
And he turned his back on you and he walked away.

Where is your favorite place to get fries? Hmmm I really like the fries from Jollibee and Bonchon, if we’re talking about fries as a side. But we have a local place called Potato Corner that mainly sells fries and they make the besssssst ones; it’s my go-to snack when I go to the movies or if I just wanna chew on something while at the mall.
What is the most recent article of clothing you’ve purchased? Yellow and black tops with puffed sleeves since they were getting in style, at least before the quarantine.
Have you ever paid for anything with a check? Not my own, obviously; but my mom has given me checks to pay for mine and my sister’s tuition fees back in high school.
Do you know anyone who was raised by their grandparents? So many kids here in the Philippines. The usual situation is that parents would still be climbing the ranks while their kids are little so they’d be under the care of extended family, and for the most part it’s the grandparents who would assume the task. In my case, I was raised by my maternal grandparents and an aunt for my entire childhood.
Have you ever made your own pie from scratch? Yeah, in Grade 7 home economics when we had to. Never made pie on my own time/for leisure.
Who was the last person you had an in-depth conversation with? Gabie.
Are there any waterfalls nearby? I guess so. It’s on the other side of the city, but then again that’s only about 15 minutes away and I would say that’s nearby.
What was the last food item you ate? Lumpiang shanghai and rice.
What are your earliest memories of going to see a doctor? Going to the school doctor in my first year of kindergarten to have my eyes checked. I remember being asked to peer into a machine, but I don’t remember what I saw anymore.
Can you hear traffic right now? I could never hear traffic from where I live and for anyone also living in a gated village, this is always the case.
Have you ever pulled a muscle? I may have, but only once or twice.
What did you do last weekend? I hung out with my dog, last Saturday my dad bought a sushi platter to celebrate my thesis getting approved, and last Sunday I collected all of Kimi’s baby photos because I realized I hadn’t looked back on his old pictures for a while. Here’s one that we took when he was two :)
Tumblr media
What is your favorite gaming console? The PS2 gave me many of my most cherished memories; and it had badass games, too.
Are you talking to anyone via instant messaging right now? Nope.
Have you kissed someone today? Not since March 7th, eugh.
What is your favorite condiment? Mayonnaise.
Do you have a strong opinion for or against Justin Bieber? He has definitely said and done questionable things both in the past and present that keeps me from rallying behind him 100%, but honestly his music has gotten better over the years lol. My personal favorite is the entire Purpose album.
Have you used a telephone today? I only have to use the telephone when my grandma calls, and the last time I had to do this was when she called on my birthday.
Do you prefer coffee or tea? Cooooooffeeeeeeee. The only time I get to drink tea is if it’s a freebie at a hotel or restaurant, but I never buy it for myself.
Have you taken a painkiller today? Yeah. This morning my body gave me signs that let me know I was about to faint – super sweaty, tunnel vision, dizziness, stumbling – and even though I was able to handle it and end up conscious, my head was still being weird a couple of hours later so I drank a Biogesic pill to make it go away.
How many theaters does the closest movie theater from your house have? I honestly can’t remember. I tried checking their website but it shouldn’t be a surprise that they have no data on their cinemas right now.
Do you always have a stock of alcohol in your house? Only because my parents aren’t big drinkers and they drink like, every six months. The stock of alcohol we’ve constantly had are ones they bought from way way back and they just haven’t consumed. I would drink them myself, but it’s all beer or wine so no thanks.
Have you ever had a pumpkin latte and if so, did you like it? No, not a thing here. Starbucks did bring it here for a short time last Octoberish? but it was always sold out whenever I’d try to order it, and eventually I just stopped trying.
Have you had a nap today? I took a nap all afternoon so I’ll probably be up very late tonight.
Is there an antique store in your town or city? I’m not ruling it out. If there is, I haven’t heard of it yet.
Have you ever been to a baby shower? Again, not a thing here. It’s such a first world thing hahaha. I do think my generation is gonna be the first one to make baby showers a thing though.
Do you have a hyphenated name or know anyone with one? (eg. Carter-Brown) I don’t have one. I know several people.
What would you wear if you were being taken out to dinner tonight? I’d assume the dinner would take place at home, so I’ll wear a simple dress.
What were the last shoes you wore? A pair of Nikes.
Do you know anyone who has been to rehab? I...don’t think so.
Have you ever had a mojito? I’ve had a sip or two, but I’ve never ordered it for myself.
Do you take your Christmas decorations down before or after New Years? End of January. The Christmas season in the Philippines doesn’t end until then.
What is the first thing you do when you get online? I go on my Facebook to check if I got any notifications while asleep.
How many romantic relationships have you been in so far? Technically two, but they’ve been with the same person.
Have you ever been camping in the wilderness? I have not been camping, period.
Do you have any money on you right now? I have my last ₱1000 bill in my wallet. I used to have ₱2500++ but my dad has kept borrowing my money throughout quarantine and now I’m down to my last bill. I honestly can’t complain about it though, it’s not like I can use the money any time soon, plus my allowance is his hard-earned money to begin with.
Would you consider yourself to be a picky eater? Only if it comes to fruits or any grandma food like raisins, dates, fruitcake, food for the gods, etc. I dunno if those are food universally loved by grandmas but those are definitely what my lola loves, hence me classifying them as grandma food to make it easier lol.
Have you made a large purchase today? Not since Christmas.
What was the last candy you ate? Does Fererro Rocher count as candy? :/ I had one two or three weeks ago.
How often do you eat Subway? Once every two years, tops. It’s not my restaurant of choice and I only ever ate there when I would drive Gabie to her school extra early, and it’s the only place that would be open at 6:30 AM.
Have you ever lived in a house with a pool in the yard? I have not.
What color is your toothbrush? Maroon and white.
Do you have gluten intolerance or anyone who does? No and no.
Have you ever cried while watching a movie? For sure.
First thing that catches your eye when you look out the nearest window? The curtains covering the window.
Have you ever had a migraine? Occasionally. It only happens when I’m extremely stressed or if I don’t realize that I’ve been pushing myself too hard, which doesn’t happen a lot.
Do you have a gym membership? No.
Have you locked your front door today? Yep.
Have you ever slept in a car overnight? Yes. The thing about my mom is that she doesn’t let me stay out criminally late if I plan to go home, but by some weird reasoning on her end, I can stay out criminally late if I say I’ll be sleeping over at someone else’s which to me has always been like ??????? LMAO so anyway, that’s always been my story if I have plans to drink out, party, etc – that I’ll be sleeping over at a friend’s. But the truth is I don’t always have a friend that I can sleep over with, so for nights like those I have to sleep in the car.
Have you washed the dishes today? Just my own.
Have you ever fainted? I’ve only been extremely close to fainting, to the point where people have to carry me because my legs are jelly. But I haven’t lost consciousness.
Have you been awake before sunrise today? No. I’ve been waking up quite late during quarantine.
When was the last time you went to the bank? I’ve never had to go to the bank. If I do, it’s just to accompany my mom who will sometimes withdraw money while we’re out.
Do you avoid conflict as much as possible? Yes.
Have you ever used a leaf blower? We don’t even have one of those. We have someone in the village who gets paid to use one.

Pairing Trevante Rhodes x black reader
Warning fluff, one mention of peen
Summary Tre wants to cook for you
A/N My first public fic 😯I had been working on this on and off for a while, but I almost scrapped it today after reading Take Our Time Part 2. @supersizemeplz Girl, I promise I didn’t steal lol The similarities made me uneasy but I guess this is the way to a woman’s heart. Anywayz, I felt like this blog was unintentionally becoming a Florian fan blog so I decided to start with a fic starring my baby Tre.
Be sure to tell me how bad it is! Constructive criticism requested. Enjoy!
***
- you tryna get fed? -
If you had no filter you would probably type something along the lines of ‘yep. Fed some dick 🙃’ But you were still trying to win over the guy you were dating. So, to be more ladylike you went with:
- who says no to food!? when and where? -
- tonight. my place. You can even come grocery shopping with me now if you’re free -
You raised an eyebrow. Food was one of the things that brought you two together. You met through a mutual friend at a birthday dinner some months back, but only recently became romantic. There were plenty of conversations about your favorite dishes and some dates to dope local restaurants, but grocery shopping and getting cooked for? That was next level, wasn’t it?
- oh you’re trying to cook for me? 👀-
- precisely -
The proposition was a pleasant surprise that made you smile. You weren’t expecting to see him so soon considering you had just went on a date the previous Friday to the art museum. However, you did notice that your interactions were becoming more frequent. The art museum date had you on a high all week, you two had talked everyday since. You would be lying if you said that wasn’t exactly what you wanted. All you thought about was spending more time with him, though you didn’t want to be the first to admit it. You sent your reply:
- I’m listening… What’s on the menu? 🤔-
- you’ll just have to come and see 😌-
- bet. -
A quick uber ride later and you were meeting Trevante in the produce section of a local grocery store. It wasn’t as busy as you expected but it was 5 on a Friday evening after all. He lit up when he saw you, “Hello gorgeous,” he greeted you with a warm hug that lingered a tad longer than usual, not that you were complaining.
“Hey!” It was nice that he was as excited to see you as you were to see him. He hadn’t changed since leaving work an hour prior and he looked delectable in the business casual he wore to the office. The button down and slim fit slacks fit him perfectly. It had been your day off and even though you looked good, you wondered if your knee length t-shirt dress and white canvas shoes were too much of an under dress. What else could he expect from you with 30 minutes notice? He was going to have to take what he got; the dress complimented your curves and he was lucky you even fluffed your curls, filled in your eyebrows, and put on your Fenty gloss.
You ran your mouth about your work week while he picked up items and placed them in the basket he was holding. You enjoyed talking to him so much you didn’t even realize you weren’t really paying attention or offering much help until the third or fourth stop.
“So, what are we eating?”
“Tuscan butter salmon.”
“Oh wow. That sounds delicious,” you only cooked like that when you were feeling fancy, “I don’t know if you can pull it off, Tre,” you teased.
“I can. I will. And you’ll be finding out tonight now, won’t you?” he looked you up and down and licked his lips. You swore you noticed his eyes linger on your hips. The look he gave aroused you slightly. How dare he ooze confidence and sex appeal so effortlessly. You had to shake off the thirst.
“I’ll believe it when I see it. Don’t disappoint me, Rhodes.”
"No need to worry,” he winked.
The last stop was the seafood counter for fresh salmon.
“Welcome back,” he said as he opened the door. You adored visiting his place. The 14th floor condo had huge picturesque windows that gave a breath taking view of the midtown skyline. The view was gorgeous now, but it would only get better when the sun began to set around dinner time. Right in front of the center window was his high top dining set. The overall interior design was exquisite- modern yet cozy.
“Alright. Make yourself comfortable. I’m going to get started in there,” he set you up with a glass of wine, and the TV remote.
“So I don’t get to help you in the kitchen?”
He hesitated for a moment before confessing, “Really, I just wanted you to relax. I don’t want you to lift a finger, so no.” he laughed. You didn’t protest. You enjoyed the idea of him catering to you and decided to put on a movie. But, instead of focusing on the TV you explored. Each time you visited, you checked his massive collection for new records and books. Nothing new this time around.
You took a peek at him working in the kitchen. Facing away from you, he worked diligently at the stove. His shirt was slightly fitted allowing you to see some of the contours of his back muscles as he cooked. He was ripped with broad shoulders which made you want to climb him like a tree. Watching him cook for you wasn’t sedating your attraction to him at all. The scent of fresh garlic took over the open space encouraging you to watch the master at work up close. You asked him about the recipe: where he found it, how often he made, if he’d 'wined and dined’ any other women with it recently. You know, the essential questions.
He laughed, “No, actually. You’re the only woman I’ve tried to impress for minute now. And you’re the first to get 'wined and dined’ with this recipe,” he made sure to mock the way you said 'wined and dined’.
“Mhm. I feel special,” you leaned against the counter top as you watched him stir in his ingredients milling over his response.
“As you should,” he took a taste test of his sauce, “C’mere,” he took another spoon full to feed to you.
“Wow. That’s really good,“ legitimately impressed, you wondered if he had taken any cooking classes.
“Yeah, but it’s not there yet,” he bit his lip, wheels turning. He was focused on his craft and his diligence was sexy. You left him to search his spice rack for the missing piece and returned to the couch.
About 15 minutes later dinner was served.
“It smells amazing!” You said rushing to the dining table that was decorated with burning candles, flames mirroring the glow of the sunset.
“Tuscan Butter Salmon, with pasta and a side of tossed greens salad and homemade garlic bread,” he watched for your facial expression as he placed the plate in front of you. It looked amazing and your face said it all. “Dig in, dig in,” he motioned for you to hurry up while pouring more wine.
He sat back to watch you react to your first bite. Part of him wanted to make sure you actually enjoyed the food, but most of him wanted to take you all in. Even in your “everyday” high puff and some simple stud earrings he found you breathtaking. The subtle pink glow of your lips did something to his insides each time he looked at you. You froze, “Oh ma gawd, this salmon is so good. Literally the perfect texture. And this sauce? Out of this world! The fresh rosemary makes such a difference. Great choice pairing it with the pasta and the wine!”
"What did I tell you? I know what I’m doing.” He took his first bite and started to nod, he was proud of himself, “okay okay chef Rhodes doin the damn thing. I really out did myself.”
The food was so good there was barely any talking for the rest of the meal. You two stuffed your faces and managed to drop in a word or two about your weekend plans. You also tried to high jack his recipe.
He took his last bite, “Y/N, you’re not getting the recipe.” He looked at you as he shook his head with laughter.
You took a sip of wine, “Tre, stop being stingy. Why not?” you whined, giving your best pout.
He hesitated, “Because I need a reason to keep you coming back for more.”
Silence. You weren’t sure how to respond. There was something about the way he said what he said and the look he gave you when he said it that would’ve made your knees give out if you were standing. With or without elaborate meals, those eyes were enough to keep you coming back for more.
“Can I be honest with you?” he looked down at his hands. Your heart sank, you were not ready for him to tell you something ridiculous like he has an estranged wife or three baby mamas and five kids.
“Yeah?” you said with a raised eyebrow, getting up to take the dishes to the sink.
He  followed you with the rest of the dishes you couldn’t manage. “I’ve been thinking about seeing you everyday this week,” he put down the dishes and gently pulled you to face him. Tilting your chin up he said, “You’re gorgeous, intelligent, passionate, ambitious- I can’t get enough of you,” he took your face in his hands and planted his soft, full lips on yours.  He was just as passionate with his kissing as he was with his cooking.
He gently pulled his lips away. You had to consciously make the effort to not say 'woah’ aloud. Instead you said, “I feel the same way. I’ve been thinking about you all week, too,” you beamed at him before biting your lip.
"I uh- I haven’t wanted to wine and dine anyone in a while and I want to be the only one doing it for you from now on,” he intentionally used your phrasing from earlier, “I want to make this official. I want you exclusively. Y/N, I want you to be my girl.” The words fell out his mouth. And though he meant everything he said, he still felt corny like a high school freshman asking his crush to go steady.
You placed his hands on your hips and pulled him in for another kiss, “that’s exactly what I wanted to hear tonight.”

Nope.  If yes, what do you like best about it? - Have you ever stayed in a hostel? In Germany! Would you rather sleep on the top bunk or bottom bunk? Bottom because I have to pee every 15 minutes and when I was a kid I slept walked out of the top bunk which is a scary idea.  Do you love camping? I’ve never been. I’d be open to going but I’m about 50/50 on whether I’d actually enjoy it. I love being outside but I also love sleeping in my bed.  Would you rather sleep in a tent or under the stars? I don’t know.  What insects are you afraid of? Centipedes/millipedes and caterpillars. Too many legs. Have you ever had a secret admirer that left you notes? I used to be close with them when I was little... sadly it’s out of sight out of mind for me.  Are you close to any aunts or uncles? Same as above. When I’m physically with them I am but when they aren’t around (97% of the time) I hardly even think of them. That sounds super fucked up but that’s all I got.  Are you close to your grandparents? My maternal grandparents are kind of a disappointment to me- I love them greatly and I used to make a point to see them about once every-other month when I was an undergrad but then they went back to Jehovah’s kingdom or whatever and it’s a bunch of bullshit that means they shun half their children and didn’t attend or celebrate my gay cousins’ weddings.   On the other hand I am very close with my paternal grandparents. Even when they’re out of sight I think about how grateful I am for them on the regular.

But also I’m quick with the uptake, I have a fantastic memory when needed, and I’m smart honestly... so nothing was particularly hard.
