I am an absolute sucker for a Rescue - which segues nicely off I'm an absolute sucker for a captivity arc :D (But i chose rescue for this bc it's the end result and i wouldn't like a captivity arc nearly as well with no escape/rescue - rescue obvs preferred)

And actually, the less agency the character has in their own rescue, the better, imo.

All the hate for the "helpless, poor abused female with no power who gets rescued by a big strong man"? I love that.

Agency can kiss my ass lol okay, perhaps that's a bit blunt. I prefer a blink and you'll miss it sort of agency - defiance that gets you nowhere. having that small bit of spark left even after all hope is gone and they're ground into the dirt. when rescue arrives, making the choice to cooperate instead of being like, what's the point. wanting to die but eventually choosing to live.

small acts that may not be as flashy as "i can kick your ass six ways to sunday and i don't need nothing from nobody i can take care of myself", but feel infinitely more satisfying to me

- the oratrice has to play a role in furina's plan to save fontaine. the original sin committed by egeria is probably what furina, as the hydro archon, is being sentenced to. could there be a way for furina to "separate" herself, sentencing part of herself to death and entrusting the future of fontaine's justice to another? (i'm still stuck in the three thrones so fragmentation of the self is something i think has been hinted at) could this mean the end of the oratrice itself?

- neuvillette looked like he was hovering above the entire city while using his powers. we know he doesn't have his full sovereign powers so if he is the one stopping the flooding, what power is he using? could he be making use of the hydro gnosis?

- the oratrice has been accumulating energy and power as a means to an end, it converts fontaine's people's belief in justice into indemnitium. could this be the power that will save the nation?

- remember nicole's quote after scaramouche deleted himself from the irminsul? "unfortunately, the fate of teyvat cannot easily be changed. perhaps a god may have a slim chance, but for anyone else... who can say. [...] history does not change easily, but human hearts can. believe your own eyes. only that which you see is true. what is unseen is but an illusion." this ties with the themes of fontaine a bit to well for it not feel like some sort of foreshadowing. nicole also appears in the trailer saying" the prophecy... yes, what has been prophesized will be fullfiled." coincidence? i don't think so. arlecchino and furina constantly talk as if everything is teatrichal and the name of this quest masquerade of the guilty also implies a false show. do i know what this means exactly? no. but you can't tell me this isn't big and related to the way atonement will be reached regarding the sin tainting fontaine and it's people.

Markus has no choice when it comes to becoming a deviant. He breaks the system that binds him, and you don't have a choice in that matter. He'll awaken no matter what you do before it. Both options - push and don't move - appear after he'd broken out of his programming.

With Kara, you have more freedom. The game offers you two options before you can break Kara's programming: save Alice or don't move. But who wouldn't move when Todd walks up the stairs to hurt Alice? I'd like to think that only those do who replay the scene for the trophy or are angered by the angsty plot; I've seen people complaining about it being 'cliché' and 'annoying' - I think that storyline is beautiful, how they become family, how Luther protects them, the Jerrys and sacrifices along the line. Sure, that was the storyline that made me cry the most, but I still find it beautiful and traumatizing.

But with Connor? The choice is entirely in your hands until the end of the line. Whenever you prompt to earn software instability, the choice is there. And when you make your choice, there's no turning back.

Connor becomes what you want him to become.
