It's crazy how three fictional characters dressed up as three other fictional characters from a Doctor Who parody that only exists in a sitcom can take up so much space in my brain
Tumblr media
Also they're in space which is why the physics don't make sense... that's the reason... its definitely not because I couldn't figure out how to draw clothes...

I will never not not get over how Troy was the glue of the group. I mean, yes, Jeff, Britta, and Abed started it but Troy is the glue. When he leaves, everyone changes. They get watered down, but with Shirley, no one actually changes. Everyone is in some way effected when Troy leaves. Both times. They need him, the group needs him. I’m not trying to say that Shirley or Pierce aren’t important to the group, I’m just trying to say that Troy is the glue. The one who keeps everyone together no matter what.
I know this post is just words thrown together, I wasn’t sure how to explain my thoughts. And as of recently my interests have shifted from Community to Santa Clarita Diet. I still love Community, I just haven’t been hyper-interested. Love you guys<3

I am so sorry to anyone who's ever read my Community fanfiction. I will describe the whole plot of a horror movie and add a fun fact about it somewhere in there, while fully skipping over every other genre and just go "they watched a movie" with no further details when describing any other genre

The producers at Small Beginnings never addressed what happened to Chastity Galloway,
despite the fact that she very much accompanied the Eighth Inspector at the end of the 1995 made-for-telly film.

I’ve read you’re supposed to make an introduction post when you make a blog on tumblr. I didn’t bother to read any instructions past that though so… I’ll just guess on the rest of it.
hi, my name is Abed, I go to community college for film and I love tv and movies. some of my favorites are Cougar Town, Inspector Spacetime, Batman (but specificaly Christian Bale’s portrayal in The Dark Night), The Breakfast Club, the Kickpuncher franchise, and Pulp Fiction, although I’m happy to talk about any tv show or movie. I probably won’t talk about my personal life very much on here for online privacy purposes. although, I doubt anyone I know is also on this app.
anyway, I’m excited to try and expand my social circle even if online. this could never beat my conversations with my best friend, but it’ll be a fun supplement. talk to you guys soon (hopefully)!

in tears bc abed’s entire MO is being whimsical & weird. quirky & fun. he does Bits and goes to inspector spacetime conventions and had a dreamatorium. builds pillow forts and blanket forts and has a fake morning talk show. dresses up in costumes and does funny voices. but the thing is, all of this was not just with troy but because of troy. abed never had a friend before troy. no one tried to understand him, and everyone thought he was a freak even when he toned himself down. but troy loved abed at his best and his worst. gave him a safe space to be himself. not only encouraged but suggested silly little skits & movie marathons & traditions. abed admits to his friends, almost unprompted and at the mere mention of troy’s name, ‘I haven’t been a whirlwind of entertainment since troy left’. and no one argues. troy and abed in the morning never had an audience — it was just to have fun w each other. and when troy left, abed lost the person he cared most about entertaining

I hate when people seem to misunderstand Troy and Abed's relationship as being actually like what Vice Dean Laybourne tried to make them think it was. He didn't understand them, he understood just enough to present a simplified, stereotypical version of what they have. Like yes Abed was initially a little inconsiderate in his response to Troy, but honestly as an autistic person, I understand very well the frustration of having something planned out, being very focused on it, having an agreement with someone, and then they suddenly want to change it. People exaggerate how stubborn he was, he was literally about to give in before Laybourne manipulated him.
And he actually does that quite a lot. In the initial buildup of their friendship, he does things like take cues from Troy's behaviour and try to "mess with" him, because that's what Troy teaches him friends do. He's trying to connect on Troy's level. He plays basketball with him, engaging in interests he doesn't necessarily share, he tolerates Troy's competitiveness and lets him win the race to make him happy. It's Troy who has to get past the attitude that friends only do things for him and not the other way round.
And he does learn to be a good friend, but the idea that Abed doesn't show up for him just as much is bizarre. In Epidemiology, he's insistent that if only one of them survives, it should be Troy. He listens and supports him with the AC repair vs plumbing thing, and it is Troy who decides that he just wants to watch tv with him. When Troy goes to the AC repair school, Abed doesn't try to talk him out of it, even though he's devastated. He's upset when Troy and Britta get together, but he doesn't put that on Troy himself.
He listens to Troy about the impersonator thing, despite deep fears of being controlled, and honestly seems more concerned about their friendship than his own safety. He goes along with the body swap bit at a moment's notice, goes to a restaurant he previously said he couldn't go to, puts up with the waiter badmouthing one of his favourite movies, and breaks up with Britta for Troy. When he's so upset about Troy leaving that he hallucinates lava, he jumps into said lava in order to let him go.
And I especially hate when people, just like Laybourne, use the Inspector Spacetime thing to argue that their relationship is unequal. Like sorry, in other instances, Abed is more than willing to play the villain (Kickpuncher, Alien) or love interest (Kickpuncher) or sidekick (their shadow puppets) to Troy's hero. They do Bert and Ernie, who are equal partners. When they do Calvin and Hobbes, yes he's Calvin, but that's notably something only Troy has expressed an interest in him doing before.
Yeah Inspector Spacetime is a more frequent thing for them, but it's pretty clear that's a really special character for Abed. In Virtual Systems Analysis we can see him use the character to express how he's different from other people. Which, yeah, an autistic person connecting with what is essentially the Doctor...go figure.
Like, look at when he lists characters he thinks are like him: "Data or Johnny 5 or Mork or HAL or K.I.T.T. Or K9 or Woodstock and/or Snoopy. Spock goes without saying." None of those are human. Several robots. Most are not the main character. One is an antagonist. It's probably not often that Abed feels this deep a connection to a character who is undeniably the hero, and while not human, still shows human characteristics. And there's no way Troy is unaware of that.
And by the way, Troy never seems remotely unhappy about playing Constable Reggie until Laybourne talks him into it. And never again afterwards. In fact, when Abed is full on trying to act "normal" at Shirley's wedding rehearsal, Troy talks him into playing Inspector Spacetime...with this ridiculously tender look of love on his face.
It's just...it's a severe mischaracterisation of them both, articulated by a clearly manipulative character, and it bothers me when I see people fall for it.

It deeply saddens me that the writers on Community do not know that fan studies (the academic study of fandom) is a field, not only because Community itself has been the subject of several great analyses (along with Inspector Spacetime), but because it is so clearly Abed’s calling. The entire field is a beautiful mash up of sociology, film, and media studies. Abed’s happy ending would absolutely involve him (and obviously Troy) finding this academic space and being taken so seriously by all these nerds. They’d get to talk about conventions and movies and filmmaking and the dreamatorium and tropes and be extremely successful video essayists/ podcast hosts. I could so see their ending being Troy hyping up Abed to give his first conference talk and all the professors going wild over him and asking dozens of follow up questions and having deep conversations.
Also they’d be the undefeated champs at the night pop culture time trivia games.

Headcanons: Abed Nadir and Annie Edison Taking Care of Their Sick S/O
MASTERLIST | AO3 | KO-FI
Requested by: Anon
if you’re still open to doing the Sick reader headcanons, could you maybe do one that’s Abed Nadir x reader (in a romantic way)? Thank you so much, I love your work!!
Relationship(s): Abed Nadir x sick!gn!reader (romantic), Annie Edison x sick!gn!reader (romantic)
Warnings: The reader has a cold so... yeah. Also, since I'm sick myself, my brain isn't working at it's normal level so apologies for any mistakes! (Let me know if I need to add any)
(A/N: Thanks, Anon- that's incredibly kind! Anyway, I'll always have time to write about Abed, my beloved. I figured I'd throw in Annie too, to make up for how short these are going to be and because if I'd want anyone taking care of me right now, it'd probably be Annie. Also, feel free to request more characters from different fandoms for the sick!reader hcs series I seem to be doing now (I've already done the Yellowjackets ladies).)

ABED
Abed is more than happy to keep you company whilst you recover.
If you go to Greendale with him, he’ll ask Annie if you can borrow her notes to help you catch up when you’re feeling better.
He will also ask Annie for advice on what to do to help you recover.
He’ll bring you snacks and water, and pick up any medicine you might need.
But, his main strategy in taking care of you is hanging out with you to take your mind off of how awful you’re feeling.
He doesn’t really care about getting sick himself, so he’s more than happy to sit in bed with you.
He just loves to spend time with you whether or not you’re disgustingly sick.
He’ll bring over his favourite movies that he watches when he’s sick, and even when he has to go to college he’ll leave you with plenty of DVDs to get through when you’re by yourself.
He’ll also watch whatever you want to watch, regardless of whether or not he actually likes it.
(Again, he just likes spending time with you)
If you haven’t yet watched Inspector Spacetime with him, he might use your bedridden state as an excuse to force you to watch it with him.
ANNIE
Annie is very much a natural caretaker, and she’s completely prepared to take care of you and help you get better.
She can be a little strict, but it comes from a place of love.
If you go to Greendale with her and share some classes, she’ll make sure to catch you up when you’re better.
And, if you plead with her enough, she’ll complete any assignments you might have missed.
She’s able to balance school and taking care of you.
Between classes and at lunch, she’ll call you to make sure you’re alright and to make sure you’ve drank a sufficient amount of water, eaten and taken any medicine you need to take.
And, to everyone’s surprise, she’ll skip her study group meetings to take care of you.
Well, she’ll still study, just in your room instead.
She’s also pretty cautious not to get sick herself, so she insists on keeping a safe distance and limiting physical contact with you.
She can be guilted into giving you a hug, though.
Also, not to completely recycle my Misty Quigley headcanon but I can 100% see Annie feeding you soup.
