Head Canons for MMPR “Once and Always” After math

Just watched "Once and Always" Masses of aftermath head canons.. here we go… -Tommy in the hospital bored off his ass… Getting told to sit down and shut up by the professionals to the point they threaten his green ass with a sedative. -Jason doing the same thing only louder, actually gets sedated.

Three days into having what amounted to a multi-generational, multi-dimensional, most unconventional get-together for Rangers of all sizes and types, ages and worlds due to Lord Zedd rising from the ether, the Dino Fury team had been thrown something of a curve ball by Dr. Akana being called on in greeting the rest of the Tech Support/Ranger Support teams and having an exceedingly awkward moment being introduced (reintroduced?) to Lost Galaxy's Kai Chen.

There was a rambling conversation about how they knew each other: younger, on Terra Venture, in the aftermath of building up the colony on Mirinoi, loneliness, Kai's team often somewhere else, Lani missing being back on Earth terribly.

The look on Kai's face when he looked over to the Dino Fury team and saw Ollie.

Ollie would have to make note to thank Javi with a fishing boat's worth of marshmallows for steering Amelia away from filling to burst, asking something entirely inappropriate; and thank Damon, too, somehow, for being the best distraction to ever live so Ollie could slink away and not have to talk to anyone for a little while. Not until he was ready.

Well, almost anyone.

Aiyon could be very sneaky when nobody was looking, too.

Smooth hands that totally belied the strength hiding underneath ruffled Ollie's hair as Aiyon took a seat on the uncomfortable rocks that Ollie had been using to stair off into the middle distance on for a good long hour. In the middle of the night, it wasn't so bad, what with the sky open to them going forward and the rebuilt Angel Grove Command Center not like other buildings in that it didn't diminish the stars above them with light pollution.

It really spoke volumes that Ollie didn't try and smooth his hair back down again, even taking the half a sandwich Aiyon offered that he'd nicked from the small banquet the other rangers were breezing through inside.

Aiyon wasn't one to talk, though. He was done with his half of the food in about three minutes while Ollie chewed on his as if it were a last meal; Aiyon deciding not to beg, but make himself comfortable by leaning on so his chin was resting on drooping shoulders, antenna lifting up and down on occasion at the sounds of crickets or the scree of falcons snatching up prey.

"Do you suppose you got your eyes from him?"

Ollie groaned, mouth full and then painfully dry as he swallowed his last bite and huffed out a breath that left trails in the air from the temperature, "I am not talking about this. They'll track me down and corner me to have an awkward conversation soon enough. Can't I just...decompress for a little while? Amelia and Javi are already going to be on me like vultures after mom and... Mr. Chen... talk to me. Can't I be allowed to not think for a little?"

Aiyon didn't say anything, just looped long arms around Ollie's middle.

He was pleased that the Blue Ranger allowed him to snuggle in close for more heat as a way of apology, loose cold hand finding Aiyon's warmer one.

Ollie appreciated him for this silence and warmth. He really, really did.

I freely admit that I picked “The Blue Crush” as the PRLG episode to re-watch because it was great to see Kai’s softer, adorkable side come out due to his crush on Hannah.  Don’t get me worry, I like Kai’s usual dutiful & serious demeanor, but it was great to see his actor Archie Kao display a greater emotional range.  The latter two images are from his daydream sequence.

... Admittedly I had forgotten that there were some second-hand embarrassment moments, but overall I do like this episode.

'FIGHT AND RECONCILLIATION'

The fight stemmed from you defending Leo and Kai had reacted badly to your support of the newly appointed Red Ranger, but you believed that he was chosen for a reason and that Kai had to give him a chance to find out for himself. Trying to gain support, Kai involved Kendrix and Damon who agreed with you - Leo was meant to be a Ranger. And this further upset Kai who ignited the argument in your shared quarters.

You had quickly grown frustrated with his negative attitude, although it was no secret that Kai was a stickler for protocol - you knew that when you started dating. And Kai blamed Leo for your changing attitudes but the threats you were up against needed a different approach and while you believed Leo was the perfect candidate for doing just that, you were also helping him adjust to being a member of the crew which meant your time with Kai was shortened. It seemed that the only time you spent together was when you were fighting Trakeena's forces.

It was your worst fight to date, and Kai believed that Leo was a bad influence on you, warning you to steer clear, but you defended the Red Ranger, and called him out on his jealousy. The fight ended when you left your quarters, claiming you needed space but fate wasn't on your side as a short while later you were called to fight against Trakeena's army.

Kai was noticeably distracted. His attacks were sloppier than usual and you knew that he hadn't seen the Stingwinger sneaking up behind him and rushed over to shield him when the foot soldier struck.

Kai turned, eyes widening when you fell to the ground, losing your suit as you cried out in pain. He took out the Stingwinger swiftly, kneeling next to you as he examined the extent of your injuries.

The rest of the team joined moments later and Kendrix joined his side, checking you over before stating, "We need to get her back to the ship."

The next few hours were hell for Kai who recalled your fight and how silly it all seemed now that you were hurt for he always knew deep down that you loved him. And right now he was faced with the possibility of losing you forever because he had let his guard down. Kendrix had tried to break the news gently but Kai didn't want her to sugarcoat the severity of your injuries. The blonde apologized when his face fell as she knew what he was thinking - having bumped into you after your fight with Kai.

Kai slowly sank into a chair beside where you were resting. "It's all my fault."

"No, it isn't -" Kendrix attempted to shoot down his line of thought quickly but Kai wasn't willing to listen.

"It is." He interrupted. "We had a fight - a stupid fight that shouldn't have happened." Kendrix frowned at the Blue Ranger, who looked over at you, his eyes filled with regret. "And now I could lose her forever. And the worst part is I don't think she ever knew how much I love her."

Kendrix opened her mouth to speak but Kai asked if she could leave the room before she could try to console him and the blonde reluctantly did as he requested.

Kai counted the hours and the minutes until you first started showing signs of recovering. The team was drawn back to the battlefield and Kai had reluctantly left your side to fight alongside his team, hoping you would still be there when he returned. What he didn't expect was to find the bed empty and when asked, no one seemed to know where you had gone.

Kai scoured the ship and found you in perhaps the most likely of places, yet it was the last place he looked. Your quarters.

He paused in the doorway when he saw you standing there and you turned, having heard the team had left to fight against Trakeena and were relieved that he appeared unharmed.

"You're awake." He stated, his eyes sweeping over you as he entered the room further.

"I need to lie on my stomach for a while but...I'll be fine." You told him, referring to the large slash on your back that you were told would likely leave a scar.

You froze when you saw the tears in his eyes, hearing him suck in a breath. "I didn't think you would - I thought I wouldn't -"

"Hey," You spoke softly as you approached him. "I'm fine." You sent him a small smile that you hoped was reassuring.

"I thought I would never see you again. And that you didn't - that you wouldn't -"

You wrapped your arms around his neck, and he buried his head in your shoulder, letting the tears prickling his eyes fall and you held him tighter knowing that it must have been hell for him to see you unconscious like that - as you knew it would have been for you if the roles were reversed.

You pulled away slightly, resting a hand on his arm and another on his cheek as you stared up at the man that had feared that his last words to you were shouted in the heat of the moment.

"I know that you love me." You assured him. "I know."

Kai rested his cheek against your head as you wrapped your arms around his waist and he carefully held you as he closed his eyes, unable to put into words how relieved he was that you had pulled through, that he had met you, that he was able to love you.

"I love you too." You murmured into his chest causing him to smile.
