Remember when we used to play in the woods together? I got lost that one summer. When I turned around, you were gone. When they found me, I almost didn't want to come back.

Idk if you’ve answered this somewhere else but do you have a top three for designers and/or collections?
i haven't! i don't really have a top collection first because i have a terrible memory and it all blends into one general vibe after a while lmao and second because i cannot pick just 3 anyway, and i guess top 3 designers kind of change as time passes and new ones come and whatnot... plus there are so many good interesting designers it's hard to pick at all, like sure mcqueen is mcqueen, i'd die for mcqueen who wouldn't, even sarah burton's mcqueen was impeccable imo even if it wasn't as wild, i really love jeremy scott's work in moschino, it was insane and silly and so much fun and genuinely cool, and then westwood is... you know.. westwood, like who doesn't like westwood, you need to get something checked if you don't like westwood. i did a whole project on the punk scene and westwood when i was in fashion school, didn't even hesitate when they asked us to pick a designer and a style. i guess i'd pick those three as my all time favs.
current ones, i'm always looking forward to whatever harris reed is cooking every year, i would literally kill a man for thom browne if he asked, and i love the silly little fairytale world kate and laura mulleavy live in within rodarte even if sometimes it gets a little ugly, it gets a little dumb. notable mention not making it into the top 3 but still being great for simone rocha, robert wun and dilara findikoglu.
other than that, i also did a project on agatha ruiz de la prada and aesthetics and branding because i think she's so fun design wise and so specific, she's just doing whatever, that's a clown show she puts on every collection and frankly why not, what's stopping us! and sure elie and zuhair are great, it's practically the same collection every year too but who cares when they're so good at what they do.

Women Dressing Women Costume Exhibit at The Met
Tumblr media
"The Costume Institute's fall 2023 exhibition will explore the creativity and artistic legacy of women fashion designers from The Met’s permanent collection, tracing a lineage of makers from the turn of the twentieth century to the present day by highlighting celebrated designers, new voices, and forgotten histories alike.
Women Dressing Women will feature the work of over seventy womenswear designers, spanning ca. 1910 to today, including French haute couture from houses such as Jeanne Lanvin, Elsa Schiaparelli, and Madeleine Vionnet, to American makers like Ann Lowe, Claire McCardell, and Isabel Toledo, along with contemporary designs by Iris van Herpen, Rei Kawakubo, Anifa Mvuemba, and Simone Rocha." - The Met
I love that The Met is doing two different costume exhibits a year now. This one only runs for three months, so obviously I had to go this week. Highlights below!

I remember when they last showed this McQueen piece in 2016 (at the Manus x Machina exhibit) and they’re finally highlighting the back of it, which I love.

So in love with the story behind this design (above).

At first glance, I really hated this one (above) and then after a few minutes it really grew on me, especially considering the fact that it’s a product of its time period.

My favourite piece of the whole collection, by far.

And I love that someone had the good sense to put a mirror behind this one so we could see the all of the details.
The exhibit runs now until March 3rd.

Featuring romantic florals, stunning gowns and all our favorite celebrities, including actors and comedy queens Ayo Edebiri and Quinta Brunson, as well as Paramore's Hayley Williams, the season lookbook Rodarte's spring 2024 is in full bloom. Once again, Laura and Kate Mulleavy, the two founding sisters of Rodarte, chose a series of photos of stars on the catwalk. This time, the Los Angeles-based company recruited a record 34 celebrities (all with sleek hair and dewy makeup) to help with their new collection. Rodarte's Spring 2024 collection celebrates the brand's iconic romantic designs, eye-catching color palettes and feminine embellishments like lace, ruffles and bows. The following are my favorites.
