What's the Right Course of Action: Lying or Telling the Truth?
As you -- you who are reading my words -- might surmise from the title of this piece, a character having difficulty in telling the truth is presented a number of times in the course of a movie that I watched recently.
The majority of the characters of the European co-produced movie ROOM 304 (2011) are either hotel guests or staff. The plot of this movie plays out inside and immediately outside an unnamed hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark. This is an 88-minute contemporary drama that is quite grim and subtle.
The single best feature of ROOM 304 is its script, written by Kim Fupz Aakeson. This is the first time I have encountered that name on screen.
In the space of three consecutive days, some momentous things take place in the hotel, the kind of things that affect a person's thinking and behavior for the rest of their lives.
What drives the plot of this unusual movie -- which, evidently, did not get theatrical distribution, here, in the U.S. -- is the thinking of one of the hotel's staff, a character who is not formally identified but who can be identified by a perceptive viewer.
The script's core concept is personal integrity based on morality. The unidentified staff person is thinking about what happened in the hotel in the aftermath of the police interviewing guests and staff. Her thinking 'becomes' the plot that plays out on screen.
If I were to find reviews of this movie, I'm guessing that they would be negative and, if that's the case, then the reviewer is mistaken in his or her judgment.
This is a movie that should be shown on television. ROOM 304 is available on DVD with English subtitles and is probably also available on DVD in public libraries. I recommend it to all movie lovers, here, at Tumblr.

“Cold Pursuit” is an action thriller film from 2019 directed by Hans Petter Moland from a screenplay by Frank Baldwin. This film stars Liam Neeson & Tom Bateman on opposing ends. Liam Neeson plays a character named Nels Coxman and Tom Bateman is the lead antagonist Trevor Viking Calcote. This film revolves around a particular set of skills that a snow plow or driver like Nels does and does not have. His son is murdered and he begins investigating who murdered him. He begins an unintentional ride of killing off some of the men that belong to a particular drug lord; by killing his men in turn he ends up triggering what appears to be a turf war between two druglords. The antagonist Tom Bateman plays is a realistic jerk off. Each character has a story and you see how Trevor a.k.a. Viking creates the very enemies that he already has. The film is a lot of fun and I would highly recommend it; especially if you have a dark sense of humor. It is well written and worth the full 118 minutes it is. So tune in...

Remaking his own film, Hans Petter Moland brings us a revenge thriller, starring – who else? – Liam Neeson as a model citizen turned remorseless killer on the trail of those responsible for his son’s murder. Sounds like typical Neeson fare, but Cold Pursuit leaps…

Film Review– ‘Cold Pursuit’ (2019)
Film Review– ‘Cold Pursuit’ (2019)
“Some cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go.”
This apt quote from writer/poet Oscar Wilde is the only early indicator that Cold Pursuitwill be anything other than another variation on the vigilante badass that Liam Neeson has been playing now for over a decade. My suggestion? Wrap that expectation in chicken wire and toss it into a gorge because while the first fifteen minutes…
