Hi there, could you do Samantha Carpenter x male!reader where y/n is her boyfriend for 3 years. His also a soldier who is part of the black ops. Sam told him about her past and her dark secret (her biological father is a serial killer Billy). During the movie y/n went with Sam to Woodsboro when she found out her sister was stabbed, also to keep an eye on Richie since he doesn't trust him.
When he finds out Richie and Amber were behind this and doing all of this because they are so obsessed with the original film and how genuinely amazing they believed it to be, their desire for a better sequel serves as their motivation. He went ballistic and said that's STUPID AND Their STUPID and proceed to attack them and win.
a/n: There is two versions of this that I couldn't decide upon, so I put them both in. For warning, it is brutal.

Pairing: Samantha Carpenter x Male!reader
Summary: Samantha saw a darkness in you...
Tumblr media
Warnings: Umm, just super violent and gore, so read at your own discretion.
Words: 2237
DNI IF YOU'RE YOUNGER THAN 18 AND ARE SENSITIVE TO THE WARNINGS ABOVE!
These fucking idiots.
That’s all Samantha could think of with a gun in her face. These fucking idiots don’t even realize the bullshit they have stirred. And even though blood leaked from her interlocked fingers, she knew what was bound to arise. You stood opposite her, a blank look on your face with your eyes focused on Richie. The man raves about why he and Amber decided to murder. Why they wanted to make and be the perfect source material for a slasher movie. How nowadays, they were all shit and basic.
And the longer she looked at you, the longer she saw a thick shade of darkness surround your figure. Like a pure wave of dark energy enveloping your body like a demon clinging onto your back and being absorbed by your body. She’d seen this before many times and it didn’t change the fact that she felt fearful when you entered that state of being. But when she continued to keep her eyes fixated on you, she saw her dad, Billy Loomis. He was whispering in your ear with his eyes focused on her. As if breaking the wall of the dead to give you the extra push needed to enact a bloodbath on these two psychos.
Your nose twitched hearing Amber yell, jaw clenched as you exhaled through your nose. “You killed unarmed civilians?” Your voice was like a drum that silenced the room. From its deep tone and how suddenly it came. Both killers looked at you, almost having forgotten you were even in the room.
Amber couldn’t help but laugh at the question. “Of course!” She exclaimed. “How were not supposed to get everyone here and create this masterful cinema experience? Why? You have some sort of moral compass that doesn’t align with our beliefs?” She mocked.
Glancing out the window, you looked back at the two. “Do you know what I do?” You inquired. “Why this night isn’t going to be easy for the both of you?”
Richie’s face twisted into amusement, looking at his girlfriend who scoffed. “Uh, yeah,” he chuckled. “You’re a construction worker. Grew up in L.A. before going to Modesto to find a quiet life. That’s where you met Samantha and you two happily got together.”
A soft laugh fell from your lips as your fingers began to twitch. Something so small, but with Samantha still able to see her biological father staring at you, lips curved into a smile, she knew hell was rising to the surface. The hardwood floor cracked with the screams of the damned emitting from them and all chanting your name.
Licking your lips, you looked at Richie. “I kill people for a living.”
Both killers couldn’t contain their laughter as they looked at one another. “You?” Amber questioned. “No. No, you build shit for a living, dumbass. You are just canon fodder for the writers to make some side character.”
Samantha’s eyes flickered down to your hand, able to see it close to the glass cup that was on the counter behind you. When she met your gaze, your eyes moved past her and she slowly turned to see a knife. Understanding the message, she nodded. “My job doesn’t look great on an application form,” you said. “But it makes it great to not suspect me of cutting your fucker’s heads off.”
Grabbing the cup, you tossed it at Amber and it hit her in the face, the girl yelled in pain as she dropped her guard. Allowing Sydney Prescott to grab the knife on the island and stab the girl in the stomach. Samantha took the surprise attack and stabbed her knife, stabbing Richie in his shooting hand, making him drop the gun and fall to his knees as he stared at the knife pushed through the back of his hand and through the palm.
Marching towards Richie, you grabbed the handle of the knife and forced the blade into the counter. Causing the man to yell in agony as he held his wrist. “You motherfucker! Fuck!”
“Richie!” Amber sobbed, screaming as she ripped the knife from her stomach and charged at you. Stabbing you in the side, enabling a yell to fall from your lips, slapping Amber across the face where she fell and hit her head on the side of the counter, putting her in a daze. Puffing out breaths, you grabbed the knife in Richie’s hand, ripping it out and slicing open his throat. His eyes were as wide as saucers, hands coming to his throat to try and stop the spurting of blood from the open wound. But you simply grabbed his head and continuously smashed it on the side of the counter.
The three women watching in shock were forced to see the man’s head be cracked right open and pieces of brain matter stick to the pristine counter. But once you were done, you shoved his body to the side and looked down at Amber. Her eyes clouded in tears and fear as she looked between her boyfriend and you. Unable to help the sob that fell from her lips as you stepped over Richie’s body and grab the girl by the ankle.
Straddling her waist, you ripped the knife from your side, grunting. Wrapping your hand around her throat, you plunged the knife into the left side of her chest. Once, then twice, and after thirteen times with Amber’s limbs twitching as she stared up at you, choking on her blood. But before you stop yourself, you looked up at Samantha. Her eyes showed shock and a genuine look of fear on her face. But with her, she could finally see the emotion in your gaze after what felt like hours of you being silent. You’re eyes simply asked, “Do you want me to do this?”
And what felt like a beat of a second, she nodded. Leaving you to look back down at Amber and ground your teeth. “You’re wrong, kid.” Placing the tip of the knife to her forehead, you growled. “I’m the reminder.” With a yell of fury, you brought the knife down and plunged it into her skull. Letting go of the knife and began to pound your fists into her face.
The sheer force and impact shook the house. And each powerful, Samantha flinched until she couldn’t help herself and left. Sidney and Gale followed as they found Tara and helped her out of the house. Stopping at the door, Samantha saw you stand to your feet, your chest rising and falling with your face painted in the blood of someone her sister once considered her friend. Your gaze lifted to her as your nose twitched, sniffling. “I’m sorry.”
Samantha shook her head, swallowing the lump in her throat. “I would’ve done the same if you weren’t here to protect me,” she reassured. “But let’s go home.”
Nodding, you stepped over the bodies and made your way toward your girlfriend. She stayed still, feeling the warmth you always provided to her get warmer and warmer until you stood a mere inch from her. Your eyes searched her face, trying to find any source of fear that you had once seen. She was disturbed, but that was natural. Fear from the girl you’d spent three years of your life with shouldn’t be afraid of you after all the things she’d heard you done. If anything, you should be scared of her because she was the daughter of a famous serial killer. But you still slept soundly in the bed with her every night. Even at peace with the possibility that one night she might snap and you would be her first victim.
“Are you afraid of me?” You questioned, voice wavering evidently as your eyes batted back the tears. Not wishing to share too much emotion that you had closed off for so many years. But when her hand touched your face, holding you softly in her warm and smooth palm, one tear slid down your cheek. Glistening under the lighting of the front foyer.
She shook her head, smiling shakily. “I could never be afraid of you, sweetheart.”
(Version 2)
“Richie!” Amber sobbed, screaming as she ripped the knife from her stomach and charged at you. All you did was catch her arm holding the knife, kicked out her feet and resulted in landing on her back. You straddled her waist, ripping the knife from her grasp and holding the tip to her throat.
“What did you call me again? The side character?” You questioned darkly. “You are just another person to be lost in time, sweetheart.” Slapping your other hand on the butt of the knife, you propelled the knife into the center of her throat. Causing her to choke and struggle with your arms which forced her to experience a slow and painful death. Trying to cry and speak, but only finding your hardened features staring down at her with very little to no sympathy for the girl. “And I’m going to make sure your boyfriend is unrecognizable when I’m done.”
When she fell ill of movement or life, you stood to your feet and looked up at Richie. He could only stare at his companion. His partner in crimes. The girl that was lucky that she wouldn’t have to see what you were going to do to her boyfriend.
“You sonofabitch! You fucking killed her! I’m going to fucking kill you!” Richie yelled, thrashing as he tried to reach out toward you without worsening the wound in his pinned hand.
You simply stared at him, blinking blankly at him for a few moments before looking at Sydney. “Take Samantha and Tara, wait outside for the police.”
“What are you going to do?” Samantha questioned, not able to avert your eyes from the crying psychopath. In her mind, she truly believed that her father, in some way, had taken parts of your mind. A demon. A parasite corrupting your mind until you finally were able to rid yourself of its hold.
But after a beat of silence, you grumbled. “I’m going to kill him.” It was straightforward and wasn’t much to be added on. Sure, there were a few ideas of how to make this as painful as possible for him, but you were saving Sam from hearing such traumatic things from your own lips. She’d known the things you did in other countries in the name of America. And you knew about her father being a psychopath and one of the original Ghostface killers. But you didn’t want her to see what you had to do. “Go outside and call the police. I’ll be out by the time they’re here.”
Unable to find a splice of emotion in your eyes, she took your word and helped Gale out of her chair before rushing to get Tara out of the house. Stopping at the door to see you grab a meat tenderizer and turn to Richie with a blank look in your eyes.
“This is not how it’s supposed to go,” Richie exclaimed. “I am supposed to kill you! You and your bitch of a girlfriend are supposed to die! Not this!”
Without leaving so much as a moment to spare, you swung the meat tenderizer and hit Richie across the face. Making the cough and groan from the pain as you grabbed him by the throat and forced him to look at you. “Whatever you thought to be on your side–God, a psycho fandom, that means fuck all now.” Leaning down into the man’s face, you smiled. “You’re in my world now, bitch.”
Finally, when Samantha stepped beyond the threshold outside, she heard the yells and screams belonging to Richie. And with due time, she heard your yell, one final hoorah as she suspected you smashed his head in.
The cops and ambulance arrived. But Samantha and Tara still stared at the house, waiting for you to step out. When the police officer’s urged them toward the ambulance, promising they would make sure the house is secure before they would do questioning, the front door opened. And just like how she saw you before you killed Amber, you stood there with a black essence surrounding your figure. Holding both Amber and Richie’s body by the collars of their shirts. But that didn’t disturb them as much as seeing blood splattered across your face. It was that whatever was left of Richie’s skull and the head was mush. Thin strings of brain matter hanging on by a thread with the man’s skull fragments scattered in the flesh.
Seeing it as well, the cop raised their weapons. “Put your hands up!” Hearing their order, you tossed the bodies off the front steps where they hit the pavement with a thud. “Get on your knees and put your hands behind your head!” You held emotion when doing so, only the faintest twitch of your nose to be seen as the police officers cautiously made their way to you. Looking down at the bodies and visibly paling at the sight of brutality created by you.
But your gaze lingered on your girlfriend, her eyes clouding with tears as you clenched your jaw. “I’ll be home soon. I love you.”
Being handcuffed and forced into the back of a police cruiser, Samantha never let her eyes linger away from you. Because she knew that you would keep true to your promise.

Omggg with all the talk of Kingston and Ryan in the Slasher AU and my obsession with your boys now, I want to send this ask of how my girls truly feel about your kangaroos XD
Ryan
Poppy: In general, I think these two would wind up getting along best (though he is your character, so whether that's true on your end is up to you ^^). She can see he's a sad soul similar to her, and it's enough to encourage her to keep an open mind about him. And of course, they can bond over animals XD if she ever heard about his passed girlfriend, she would be so so heartbroken for him and caring. Asking how he's doing now and such. All in all, I can see Ryan being somewhat like Wheezy to Poppy, as in he's the most sane member of this gang and the one she can trust the most XD
Shiny: She totally thinks he's cute at first XD though she can also see there's something bugging him (is Ryan just that sad, or are these girls emotionally intuitive? XD). She can appreciate how comparatively calm he is to the rest of the Vegas environment. It's a breath of fresh air. And of course, Ryan gets points for getting on Poppy's good side ^^ she doesn't get into his personal life, though. As the saying goes, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. She doubts anything between her and Ryan will go anywhere outside of this city.
Kingston
Poppy: She's... A bit apprehensive. His missing eye and unkempt appearance is pretty concerning. But she knows you can't judge a book by its cover, so as long as he kept his crazy to himself, she would be willing to talk ^^ like woth the weasels, she doesn't approve of his criminal lifestyle, and a part of her will be scared of him unless they got to know each other better, but she's still polite abd respectful (... I'm thinking maybe Poppy might find him handsome, too? Look, this girl shagged a fox, a wolf, and has four ships with weasels. Girls got a kink for the bad boys and she doesn't even realize it)
Shiny: Eh, he doesn't scare her. Granted, she is smart enough to know that in this city, this guy is the one making the rules, not Smartass. So she can't just do what she likes as freely as before. But she's not gonna show any signs of fear or treat him any differently just because he's the boss, and is unimpressed with his intimidation tactics. She can easily match his crazy, too, so if either one of them fuck around, they're both gonna find out XD do you think Shiny would remind Kingston of Rena?
Rena
I know we've discussed the girls with Rena before, but I NEED to go in depth with them XD
Poppy: This poor girl is going to get bullied, I just know it 😂 Rena does remind her a bit of Shiny, with how pretty, wild, and uncaring for others' opinions she is... But she is far meaner than Shiny is. At least the weasel can be sweet and fun with her loved ones! Rena, though, is a whole mess. Poppy is trying to be unassuming and polite, but this woman is really making her wish she could turn invisible. She doesn't understand why this kangaroo woman is targeting her of all people, and with how crazy she is, Poppy knows she's gotta be careful. Just... Poppy is going to suffer XD.
Shiny: Nope. Hell no. Shiny did not like Rena's vibes when they locked eyes. It was partially a territorial thing, yes. But Shiny just knew that this woman was the wrong kind of crazy. If Rena is stirring up shit at her club in L.A, then at least Shiny has the home advantage. But in Vegas, she knows that she can't really do much- which only pisses her off more. At least not without consequences... Shiny will still smash a martini glass over Rena's head in Vegas, but she'll at least TRY to take Rena down with her words instead just so she won't have to deal with the Roo Gang 😅
I can see the girls maybe went to Las Vegas on a weekend girls trip? Shiny convinced Poppy to take some time off work and pack her best outgoing clothes for a relaxing trip, only to run into the Roo Trio and get into your usual mafia hijinks- but with kangaroos and casinos XD
what do you think? How do the Roo's feel about the girls? Any particular feelings or just that they're headaches? XD you don't have to answer if you don't want to, of course! ^^
I've been looking forward to answering this all weekend! XD I've decided I'm gonna write the responses in the characters' voices as practise XD So like, this is as if you went up them asked 'what do you think of so-and-so'.
Kingston's Thoughts:
Ben: Is he here!??? *looking around, kinda manic* I've been looking for that little s h i t- I owe him a beating. Fuck, don't tease me- OH OH OH- I see him!! OY THERE- I WANNA TALK TO YOU-
Henry: This fucken guy 🙄Look, if he keeps Rena outta the usual trouble, thats cool, but he's such a dick. I don't trust him for a second.
Moony: Oooooh boy, that guy... *jumps his shoulders, grinning a little self-happy grin* I get a shiver every time someone mentions him. Dudes enough to make a guy consider cock. No really, I thought about it. 'think he's still in love with Pops, though.
Poppy: Sweetgirl! She reminds me of Ryan- reliable; better then any of us fucked up losers. She's got a good heart and I truly hope she can keep it. *shrugs*
Shiny: She's one of the losers *(affectionate)*. I like her! We're fucked up by the world but we're still kickin'. Hope she knows its just business if she steps outta line and I gotta deal with her.
Terry: Unproblematic. We all like an unproblematic old dude.
Rena's Thoughts:
*warning Rena is explicit 😅XD
Ben: Delicious. God, he's such a twirp!! Such a little self important cock sucker. I wanna see if I can actually get him to... you know... suck something for me 😏 Maybe wine? Pop-sie, whadaya think? Consider it vengeance on your behalf, if you like *eyeroll*, but c'mon, gimmie the inside scoop-
Henry: *deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep breath, eyes closed* ... holy shit that man- Henry- he- fuck. I need him like I need a i r. Why do you ask? Have you see him??
Moony: *sighhhhhhhhh* i tried. I k n o w he has a huge dick- I know it!! And if I can ever get it in me I'll take the opportunity. But he's such a good guy, he wouldn't touch me. Oh well~ There are other fish in the sea.
Poppy: Theirs a misconception that I don't like her for some reason?? I actually l o v e her?? 😅😆 She's so sweet and docile. Perfect victim. I'd fuck her if she wanted-
Shiny: ... *cackles* She's so much fun! I love her! What a babe. Unfortunately I don't think she returns the sentiment *fake pout* *switch to a smirk* 😏😏😏 XD
Terry: Godddddddddddddd he drives me a little nutty XD He's so... relaxed. Seems to have it all figured out. And he wont gimmie a second glance! I want that old man cock, damnit.
Ryan's Thoughts:
Ben: ... yikes.
Henry: Well- he's perfect for Rena, so...
Moony: Cool guy. Here, in my wallet I got snaps of Cake- thats his rabbit- cutest thing ever.
Poppy: ... Kingston said everything. She's a sweet girl, and I hope she stays that way /: *doubtful*
Shiny: I like her- she gives Rena a hard time, and I love my sister, but she needs that sometimes. Okay, all the time.
Terry: Oh the old guy comes over sometimes to hang with Wheezy
*Ryan is not super wordy, sorry XD
BONUS! Lottie Weasel
Ben: *Looking stiff in her chair, fingers making indentations in the leather arms, frustrated look on her face* ... I promised Poppy I'd leave him alone. Next question, please.
Henry: Every time I think about Henry, I put a mark on this page here. *Shows you a page in her notebook that is totally blank* That guy is not shit.
Moony: !!✨️💕✨️💕✨️💕✨️💕✨️!! He's- hold on. *Looks around for Poppy, Smartass or Psycho. Turns back to you when she decides they're nowhere near* He's so hot. I- Oh my lord XD 😅
Poppy: I could write you a 26-book encyclopaedia series on how amazing Poppy is. She's such a good person, and I'm-... well I'm still trying to figure out how she does that ^^
Shiny: Haha- what to say about Shiny XD She gave me my first drink! She taught me how to paralyse a guy for a bit. I love her ^^
Terry: I love when Terry is at the club!! I'll sit with him the whole night and we don't have to t a l k, or anything. We just chill. And look, relaxation is a precious commodity at my house-

Trans Representation in Horror Movies
What character's drive a Horror Movie? Most would say a Sidney Prescott type, if it’s a slasher, or maybe the overarching themes display the movie better than anything. However, I think the antagonist drives the plot forward. Jason, Michael, Ghostface, Jack Torrance, Art the Clown, Chucky, and John Kramer are the most memorable parts of their respective movies but there is no doubt against the fact that these characters are completely evil, in fact its engrained into the horror genre and the stereotypes most horror films portray.
Sadly, this fact has turned some characters into more than just a movie villain. If a horror antagonist is meant to be representation of a certain marginalized community, don’t base their characteristics on negative stereotypes of that community. It’s just plain hurtful, because even if it ‘enhances’ the plot of the movie, its creating even more negativity on the people you’re representing.
Sleepaway Camp, Unhappy Campers, and Teenage Wasteland was one of the first horror franchises I watched (albeit far too young) and one of the biggest ones to get me to dive headfirst into the horror genre. It’s also one of the biggest movies (at least a 'mainstream' movie) to deal with the idea of transgender people in media, especially horror. Although, depictions of Trans people have been in media for quite some time.
(Spoilers ahead!) The main antagonist/ character Angela Baker is revealed at the end of the first film to be a trans-woman, who was forced to be a girl by her aunt after the death of her parents and sister. The reason she’s revealed to be a trans-woman is because she feels disgusted by the female camper’s development; so much so that she murders them and frames a fellow camper. A big theme in the whole franchise is the sexuality of women and the effect it has on Angela, in fact, this theme has been present in more films featuring trans representation (see: “Psycho”). The idea is that experiencing another woman’s sexuality makes the character, usually a trans-woman, “revert” back to their masculine ways. But even then, it’s a good idea presented in an inaccurate way because being masculine has nothing to do with killing a girl with a curling iron. I would much rather watch some guy harm women over his own insecurity than see this idea again, because at least it’d be accurate!
It’s become such a prevalent phenomenon in the genre that it’s expected. If there’s a horror antagonist that happens to be trans, it’s probably going to be portrayed as some form of trauma that has made them ‘choose’ that. The truth is, trauma doesn’t work like that, like at all. This isn't to say that trans people shouldn't be in horror, everybody deserves to be in a bloody horror movie. There's much more to discuss about gender in horror, especially female vs. male gaze, the depiction of colored women, virginity, the victimization of rape survivors, the list goes on.
More examples of this occurrence are "Insidious Chapter 2", "Psycho (1960)", "Dressed to Kill", and "Escape from L.A.". Please read more about this from credited sources. I am not an accurate representation of this issue.

For those of us who are fascinated by these guys all living together...
(Trainwreckd Society interview with Scott Spiegel)
The ever knowing Wikipedia informs me that you shared a house in L.A. with your old pal Sam Raimi, the Coen Brothers, Frances McDormand, Holly Hunter, and Kathy Bates.  Wow. What did you do to keep the walls from exploding due to the immense creativity they tried to hold?  What was that scene like?
It was incredibly cool! And I have the pics to prove it! BLOODSIMPLE was taking Hollywood by storm and there I was with Sam about to write EVIL DEAD 2. The Coen brothers were so nice to me – even after I did the old shaving cream on the end of the phone receiver gag. I called from another phone in another room and Ethan Coen picked up the receiver and got an earful of shaving cream! The look of horror on Sam Raimi’s face that me, a guest in ‘their” house would dare pull a prank like that on one of the Coen brothers but all Ethan did was laugh uproariously (I do a really good imitation of his laugh by the way). I was off the hook in more ways than one.
Fran was working on HILL STREET BLUES and SPENCER FOR HIRE at the time – she let me keep the teleplays, which I eventually sold to finance my way out to Hollywood. I’ll always remember Holly Hunter sitting on her futon in her room in sweat pants reading scripts. One day she was dressed in a mini skirt and I said “Holly, you look really nice” and she snapped “I’m going to an audition and am dressing the part of a hooker. I don’t take that as a compliment” and she stormed out the door. Ouch. Sam and I wrote the role of Bobby Joe for Holly but the producers wanted a “babe” for the role. Holly showed us (Sam, Fran & me) the awesome slasher flick she co-starred in called ‘THE BURNING – it had Fisher Stevens, Jason Alexander in it and it was written & produced by Harvey Weinstein.

Andi.
A few notes.
Andi is one of the most fun to draw of my assorted characters.
Her personality is comparable to Lisa (Angelina Jolie) from Girl, Interrupted.
She’s sarcastic, a bit caustic, deals with massive trust issues, and conceals a lot of worries about abandonment. Though she can be a touch irritating, her easygoing nature often leans in to very soft and affectionate behavior, and she tends to be extremely protective of those in her life. Andi would put herself in harms way for any of the friends and family members she’s found and been accepted in, and has suffered extreme injuries in the past keeping Claire safe, from both hateful human assailants and things stranger and more mysterious.
She’s an aspiring music journalist, and her social circle is conductive to that, given that half the people around her are in bands, run clubs, do music promo, or make things for musicians. Andi also has skills in zine making, promo, indie publishing, etc.
Andi has a mixed personal style, fusing late 70′s vibes with an early 90′s grunge girl via Hedi Slimane’s Surf Sound collection. Her prized “Sweet Dreams” jacket is one of her most worn pieces.
She and Claire share somewhat similar mental health diagnoses, and find a good deal of support in each other via their various coping mechanisms. The two have had a romantic spark between them, but it’s been on and off, and somewhat ambiguous.
Somnus is a comic/universe that plays with horror tropes. To that end, Andi is a slasher girl, but inverted and subverted.
Despite being a slasher-style killer, Andi is largely benevolent, and only goes after terrible people, often at the behest of L.A.’s vampire community, making her a kind of assassin for them, sent to deal with matters they can’t handle for some reason. Particularly things that require an element of stealth and infiltration, which she excels at.
(In RPG terms, Andi’s role is analogous to a dark knight in Final Fantasy, with her use of supernaturally enhanced gear giving her traits similar to the Mystic Knight of FF5).
Like most slashers, she uses short ranged bladed melee weapons. A machete, large knife, and medium to large axe are her preferred weapons. She later becomes capable with various supernaturally and magi-technologically enhanced weapons.
Andi is not, herself, outwardly supernatural, unlike many of her friends/polycule/family. She is, however, unnaturally proficient, often able to take on creatures that would kill or freeze a person in sheer psychic terror. This suggests she may have some sort of passive magic or supernatural element which works on less obvious levels.

Book Blurb: In this incendiary mash-up of horror and suspense, a notorious slasher film is remade…and the curse that haunted it is reawakened. Arriving in L.A. to visit the set of a new streaming horror series, journalist Laura Warren witnesses a man jumping from a bridge, landing right behind her car. Here we go, she thinks. It’s started. Because the series she’s reporting on is a remake of a ’90s horror flick. A cursed ’90s horror flick, which she starred in as a child—and has been running from her whole life.    In The Guesthouse, Laura played the little girl with the terrifying gift to tell people how the Needle Man would kill them. When eight of the cast and crew died in ways that eerily mirrored the movie’s on-screen deaths, the film became a cult classic—and ruined her life. Leaving it behind, Laura changed her name and her accent, dyed her hair, and moved across the Atlantic. But some scripts don’t want to stay buried.    Now, as the body count rises again, Laura finds herself on the run with her aspiring actress sister and a jaded psychic, hoping to end the curse once and for all—and to stay out of the Needle Man’s lethal reach.
Review:
A child star in an infamous horror movie that had several real life deaths related to the movie finds herself back on the reboot of the very movie that has traumatized her into her adulthood... and the very demon she saw is back to haunt her. Journalist Laura Warren has arrived in L.A. to visit the new streaming horror series... and witnesses a man jumping from a bridge and landing right behind her car..... and she knows its all started again. Laura is in town to report on the remake of the 90′s horror movie that is believed to be curse... and that she starred in as a child and has been running from her entire life. Laura starred in The Guesthouse as a child and played the role of a little girl who had the ability to tell people how the Needle Man would kill them. Eight members of the cast and crew died in ways that mirrored the movie’s on screen death and ever since Laura has been haunted, she’s tried to leave it all behind by changing her name, dying her hair, getting a new accent, and moving all the way across the Atlantic... but now she is being sent to report on the very movie that destroyed her and it’s not a coincidence that the moment she gets on set bodies begin to drop and someone knows who she truly is. Can she finally face the monster that has been haunting her, is the film truly curse and the Needle Man a true monster or is it a human being behind all of this? Laura will have to uncover dark secrets she never wanted to and face the monster that has followed her all her life. This was definitely an interesting thriller/horror mystery that keeps you invested until the end. I liked the constant back and forth with whether or not the Needle Man was a real monster or a figment of her imagination. The ending was really interesting and the fact that the story had news articles, script moments, blog posts, and so much more really added to the story!
*Thanks Netgalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam, G.P. Putnam's Sons for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*

What are some places I should go next time I'm in LA?
off the top of my head, and i will add to this as i think of more neat places:
HOLLYWOOD FOREVER. the cemetery of the stars. my favorite place in maybe the whole city. forest lawn is gorgeous and westwood’s got marilyn monroe, of course, but there’s just something about hollywood forever, right in the middle of the neighborhood, a few blocks away from paramount studios. judy garland’s there. mel blanc’s there. maila nurmi’s there. when i’ve been running too many errands on the boulevard and i can’t bear to look at what it’s become a second longer, i go and sit on the bench at tyrone power’s grave for a few hours and leave him a kiss and i am at peace. you can get little maps that show you where everyone’s at, but i think it’s fun to just walk around and see who you meet, too.
heritage square. the most cohesive collection of victorian architecture still standing in L.A. (most of the buildings here were moved from elsewhere in the city, to be saved from demolition.) besides the regular guided tours of the houses on the grounds, they host all sorts of cool events throughout the year: artisan markets, a night circus, historical fashion shows, the annual mourning faire. (N.B.: here, you will be walking on a whole lot of gravel. do not wear heels. i forget this every single time i go.)
the mystic museum, a very fun horror/occult-themed museum and shop in burbank. every few months they change up the exhibit - right now, i think, it's a celebration of '90s slashers, and the first time i visited, it was a history of witchcraft in pop culture. the shop runs the whole Goth Stuff gamut, from tarot decks to vintage horror movie poster prints to whimsical taxidermy.
valley relics. a dope, eclectic collection of cars, clothes, obnoxious neon signs, whatever they can get their hands on, really, to honor The Once And Future SFV. this place serves much the same emotional and spiritual purpose for me as hollywood forever, actually, except for my alternate existence as a 1980s valley girl (or girl-adjacent being) instead of my alternate existence as a 1930s screenwriter.
the lake shrine, up in the palisades. run by the self-realization fellowship, although the Transcendental stuff is not overbearing for anyone who’d just like to come and enjoy an exceptionally pretty park. it’s a great place to spend a morning or an afternoon decompressing, if you’re worn out from running around the city. (fun fact: the memorial services for tom petty, judee sill, and lux interior were all held here.)
the academy museum. it’s huge, and it’s full of incredibly thorough and thoughtful exhibits on the history of cinema. the tourists might come just to see the ruby slippers or the midsommar gown, but so help me, they WILL learn about oscar micheaux and pedro almodóvar on the way. my personal favorite parts: the documentary hallway, the oscars gallery (with several notable statuettes on display, like sidney poitier’s for lilies of the field and eiko ishioka’s for the coppola dracula), the spike lee gallery, and the “behold” installation. if i die, just put my remains in "behold" so i can spend eternity there.

Brilliance in Boston: Atlanta FaZe End CDL Championship Wait That Stretched Back to Cold War
Tumblr media
It was only natural that these teams met with another championship on the line in the replay of the season-deciding match from 2022, in which the Thieves defeated FaZe to win their first world championship in Call of Duty. In the series’ first map, Mercado Hardpoint, it was a back-and-forth affair the entire way, with the match going all the way down to the wire. Los Angeles continued to stay hot, jumping out to a big lead in the map’s first Hardpoint. Atlanta started to heat up, though, and had the lead late in the match, needing just one more rotation and hold to strike first in the series. But the Thieves found a way to win the rotation and pick up the remaining kills needed to keep FaZe off the point and closed the map out 250-248. https://twitter.com/CODLeague/status/1622387444598571010 The teams started the series’ second map, Hotel Search and Destroy, by trading two round win-streaks. With the map tied at 2-2, Atlanta turned the heat up. They grabbed three straight rounds, including a massive swing round when SlasheR found himself in a one-vs-two. The longtime CoD veteran held his ground when two members of L.A. rushed him, using his TAQ-56 to grab both kills and give his team a dominant 4-2 lead. FaZe went on to win the map 6-3 behind a monster performance from eventual Major Two MVP Simp, who sported a 14-4 stat line in the victory. Staying with Hotel, the series’ third map featured the Control game mode with the series locked. After doing their job on defense in the first round, L.A. found themselves with a potential break on offense, needing just two ticks at the B point to take a 2-0 lead on the map. But Atlanta’s iconic Tiny Terror duo, Simp and aBeZy, shut down any perceived opening the Thieves had to bring it to a tied 1-1 game. In a surprising turn of events, both teams swapped offensive round victories. But with FaZe notching more ticks of progress than the Thieves, they were awarded the coveted defensive stand in round five. Atlanta did not waste that opportunity, choking L.A. out with a dominant defensive performance to take the map and a 2-1 lead. The Hotel Hardpoint was eerily similar to Mercado Hardpoint in map one, with L.A. jumping out to a big lead in the early goings again. This time, though, Atlanta never brought it close. The Thieves rode massive 27-18 and 24-20 performances from Octane and Kenny, respectively, to a 250-180 victory to tie the series at two maps apiece. The series’ fifth map, El Asilo Search and Destroy, was a wildly entertaining one with each team having massive moments in a momentum-turning game. Cellium made huge plays in the first two rounds, winning multiple clutch situations to give his team a 2-0 lead. But then, L.A. struck back, winning the next four to take a 4-2 lead. But Atlanta found another two rounds to tie it up. Each team traded and sent it to a decisive round 11 that saw Atlanta get the bomb down and eliminate the side of Thieves. The El Asilo win handed them a vital 3-2 lead in the decider. https://twitter.com/FaZeUpdate/status/1622407903683530755 The series stayed with El Asilo, this time for another Control. Atlanta started on defense and was absolutely suffocating in the early goings, at one point holding a 29-19 lives advantage. There was nowhere for L.A. to go and they were unable to grab a single tick of progress at either point. When Atlanta were on offense, they were quick to grab the A point, giving themselves more than two minutes to work with to capture the remaining B point. Thanks to a big two-piece from Slasher to open the site, FaZe were able to stack and capture the point and found themselves one defensive round win from a championship. They weren’t as dominant in the third as they were in the first, but they were darn close. L.A. did manage a single tick, but that’s all they got. The FaZe ARs, SlasheR and Cellium, made massive plays all over the map to clinch the round, map, and championship. Atlanta’s win is the organization’s first CoD title since the team won the CDL Championship at the conclusion of the 2021 Cold War season. With the Boston championship, Atlanta have vaulted to first place in the 2023 CDL standings. Read the full article

My 1st R-rated film, My House, will come out in theaters and festivals in July/August, and eventually on platforms including Amazon Prime! I'm so thankful to God for @christysetlock for recommending me for the role of the serial killer, Richard, and @authordevon25 for taking me on. This film set in 80s Portland, Maine is a true homage to horror slashers of the past and it's truly an honor to be in my first horror film. I can't wait for y'all to see. My first gig since pre-COVID out in L.A. is truly an opportunity I won't forget. Thanks be to God for this answer to my prayers and having this be part of His will for my life.
