Two snaps taken as I was heading home after the Bristol Harbour Festival on Saturday evening, with all the ferry boats moored for the night, while the fairground continued with its noisy trade, offering ongoing entertainment to those unable to depart from the fun of the day.

It's not often you see a fairground so squarely in the centre of a busy everyday environment, such that it's so evidently in view from land used for more everyday purposes, which is understandable given that they're often rather noisy affairs that people aren't generally going to be very happy with having around for any great length of time. I always find it fun combining different subject matter for photography, and the combination of fairgrounds with elements of everyday life are of particular interest, owing to the stark juxtaposition of the sensually overwhelming escapism of the fairground with the more mundane, everyday surroundings of the wider environment. Not that the harbourside is mundane - anything but!

Makers HQ is a Community Interest Company and project that is based in the HQ Building on Union Street in Plymouth, Devon. With a mission to reignite fashion and textiles manufacturing in the city, it aims to bring together academic institutions, businesses, designers, makers and members of the local community to create a new wave of independent business and ethical clothing manufacturing based in the SW.

I have worked behind the scenes in the development of Makers HQ as a board member and as a volunteer director since its inception. In fact, it is one of the main reasons why I came down to Plymouth to take up the role with Plymouth College of Art in the first place!

Man, I really wanna run a campaign where IPS-N is the villain. I feel that would be really fun in its own right. Or alternatively, a campaign where IPS-N isn't necessarily the villain, but they are kind of responsible for everything terrible that ends up happening. HA and SSC understandably get a lot of focus in official modules but I'd love to see more of IPS-N's malign influence on the Long Rim or something.
