…hey remember that really mean idea about Fingon being the worst version of himself? that Fingon being haunted by Maitimo, who is of course horrified by what his lover has become.

I was listening to Blood Upon The Snow by Hozier and GOD what a Himring theme like imagine???
Maedhros is newly "healed" from his 30 years or torture, just gave up his throne and crown to his uncle and is determined to travel east to build his strong hold against Morgoth. Everyone is worried, like yes he's technically healed but Maedhros has a… violence to him now. He is colder, both at the touch and personality wise. There is a glint in his eyes and his brothers (and cousins, and his aunt and uncle) all look at each other with worry behind his back as he now prowls as he walks.
Maglor is the most worried. He's more in tune with the world and the Music around them, and while Maedhros' song isn't twisted like the thralls they've met, it's brassy now. Before, back in Valinor, Maitimo used to sound like a string quartet, complex and intricate, like a beautiful glass mosaic that told a whole story without words and still let light shine through upon everyone in a splash of rainbow beams. Now, there is a thrumming undertone that's deeper, richer, that makes the almost word filled song of the strings become shrill, like they're crying out. The bass undertone sounds like the marching of an army and the strings sound like a death wail of the doomed. It makes Maglor's skin crawl as he watches his brother, not knowing what to make of the change in Song.
He listens, and he follows Maedhros. Climbs with him up the tallest, coldest peak he finds in the east. The mountain is cold, the wind is biting, and the snow is deep-- not that that is a hindrance for the Elves, but the horses have to trudge through snow that is basically up to their chests. The music here is also cold, sharp woodwinds nipping at the ears and shrill strings that rattles his bones. Maglor opens his mouth to complain, to urge his brother to turn back down this damned mountain when he finally breaks through the cacophony and hears his brother's song.
For the first time since the darkness engulfed Valinor, Maedhros' Song was steady, quiet, finding peace and blending into the rush of Music wiping around them. Maedhros himself looks at peace, eyes closed and face upturned to the weak sun. Between the rich red of his hair, regrown down to his shoulders since they had to shave it after his rescue, and the deep scarlet of his Feanorian robes, Maedhros looks like a spot of blood upon the snow. Maglor shivers, suddenly overcome by a vision of his brother drenched in blood, mouth curled into a snarl like a feral animal, surrounded by endless white and red all around him.
Maedhros begins to hum, a low tune that does nothing but send shivers up and down Maglor's spin.
"Brother, please, let us leave. There is nothing for us here, maybe if we keep travelling east there will be a better place to set up camp." Maglor begs, walking closer to Maedhros.
"No." Maglor freezes at the word. There was an undercurrent of command, of steel. "This place speaks to me, I will make our stronghold here."
Maglor gapes, he looks around at the barren mountain. Nothing but rocks, and snow, and sparse shrubs. "Here? Really?"
Maedhros nods. "Here. Her name shall be Himring, and she will withstand any siege." He hums again, the notes low and easily swallowed up by the wind. Maglor with his keen ears could pair the simple tune and worried at his lip when he noticed that it was actually a very basic version of the Song that screamed around them.
If he listened closer, he could almost hear the words in the Song. His heart clenched as he watched Maedhros turn and begin ordering their men, getting the wheels of creation of their base set into motion.
Maglor looked around the mountain side again. He could feel the glee of the mountain, at how the rocks thrummed beneath their feet and snow. It felt vicious, like hunting dogs straining at their leashes, an eager glee that felt almost bloodthirsty. Maglor just hoped that it just would be directed towards helping their cause, and not be their downfall.
To all things housed in her silence Nature offers a violence

Day 1: Maedhros for @feanorianweek
Pride| Humility

Clematis: Purple Clematis symbolizes intelligence and resilience. If you receive purple clematis, your admirer holds you in high regard. Clematis is also a prideful flower, as well as the color purple which is a royal, prideful, color.
I think Maedhros had a very conflicting relationship with his status. He was born as the second heir to the throne after his father, and when he finally got it, he´s taken hostage, then when he was rescued, he gave it over to his uncle. Most of his time as king was spent as a prisoner of war. The whole idea that he was raised to be a king and then when he gets it it´s taken from him and he has to learn to be a war lord instead, not a war king, but a lord. Then he chooses to go to Himring and in a way starts acting like a king, The Union of Maedhros most noticeable, or at least a high prince, and I don´t doubt that most of Feanor´s followers see him as their king till the end of the first age.

Ok but consider those “Maeglin Finds and Lives With The Feanorians” fics but Baby! Maeglin was taught all their names by badass “balls of steel” Aredhel, so he thinks their nicknames are their actual names.
So Maeglin, upon meeting the Lord of Himring, is timid and respectful but confidently calls Maedhros One-Handed, Famed Kinslayer, “Lord Neylo”.

Maedhros was checking the bills his councilors brought in.
"This does not add up."
"No your highness, but it was sent from his highness lord Caranthir."
"Did he say how on arda we made so much money with the taxes from the king going up this year?"
"He did not my lord."
.....
- Few weeks later -
"Caranthir what were you doing?"
"With what Maitimo?"
"With the damn money Carnistir, where did such amount come from?"
Carnistir paused to look at the ceiling of Himrings council hall. He then calmly looked on his clearly frustrated oldest brother.
"Why do you worry Tall One? Money comes, money goes."
Maedhros eyebrows rose seriously high.
"You plan for it to go somewhere too?"
"Yes...mainly not to Fingolfin."
The smile Caranthir suddenly had on his face when uterring those words took Maedhros back because Caranthir NEVER smiled.
Clearly unless there was a tax fraud.

Elrond: Atya, can I have a cookie?
Maedhros: Yes, come on, let's go get you a cookie.
Maglor: DON'T YOU DARE GIVE HIM A COOKIE!
Elrond: Aren't you the Lord of Himring?
Maedhros: Yes. Take a cookie, Elrond, I'll deal with Maglor.
Maglor: You traitor.

In my post about the strange residents of Rivendell, I mentioned a Feanorian die-hard and an old bodyguard of Thingol. I recently hit a thousand reblogs– which is amazing! So in honor of that, I'm writing their stories out. This is part one, I'll get the rest out over the next couple days.
The Feanorian Die-hard: Hrivossa
Maedhros' right hand at Himring, a dedicated captain with an axe and a burning hatred of Morgoth
Laiquendi former thrall, captured during the First Battle of Beleriand; when the Laiquendi king Denethor was killed
Was refused entry to Doriath after escaping from Angband– at this point, most escaped prisoners were thought to be sleeper agents sent to get information for Morgoth
Wandered for the next few years, mostly alone, occasionally finding Elvish towns that feared her because of the marks of Morgoth's torture and thought her one of his puppets
Ended up stumbling across one of Maedhros's orc hunting parties in the Early First Age, and jumped at the chance to actually fight Morgoth
Maedhros was also one of the only lords willing to help former thralls at that point; he gaze Hrivossa a new home and purpose, fighting alongside him against their shared tormentor
It's not hard to understand why she became so loyal to the Feanorian cause
This is also when she took the Quenya name Hrivossa, "winter wall," because she was as frigid and unbreakable as Himring's walls
(her original Nandor name is mostly for her close friends)
Between Denethor's death and hiding in Doriath with Melian instead of doing anything about Morgoth, Hrivossa absolutely hates Thingol
She's generally a cold person around strangers, but she warms up around her friends, and her wits and tongue are as sharp as her sword
Part of the general morbid humor culture that built up in First Age Himring
She does not have a soft spot for the Sindar claiming that the Silmaril belongs to them now
She does have a noticeable soft spot for small half-elves who keep pestering her for stories about what life was like in Beleriand before the sun and moon
She fought with Maedhros until the bloody, bitter end, being forcefully brought into the custody of Valinor's forces late in the War of Wrath
She was the leader of the Feanorian faction who chose not to submit to the Valar's judgement, or to willingly go to Aman to do penance
They generally made themselves trouble while in custody
To avoid any more ugly conflict, Elrond eventually took responsibility for this faction, becoming their lord (though Elrond did NOT become Lord of the House of Feanor) and promising to keep them from committing any more violent acts
Hrivossa and the others, all of whom had lived in Amon Ereb and helped raised Elrond, found this agreeable
All of these elves are still very much see Elrond as their Lords' child, who must be protected at all costs, so there's that
And that is the story of how Elrond became responsible for the remaining Feanorians, but only the really fucked up ones
Seriously, they don't do any other murders, but they do cause all sorts of other trouble
Also, how Elrond inherited one (1) extremely determined bodyguard
