My back story. Isolation, closed family culture & Ableism
Written by Ashton Deroy Tonight I learned one of my Autistic Peers from Public school thought I hated them. Maybe I was a bit of a bully. For that I made amends. I was sure to tell them that wasn’t true I could never hate them. DON’T BE A BULLY LIKE I WAS! I explained my ADHD and how I grew up to them. This needs to be said. If you have an autistic child? DO NOT isolate them from their peers.…

king's college, hamilton & custis: two very different 1773 students
Jacky Custis (Washington's stepson) enrolled at King's College in May 1773, but "dropped out" in less than a year. Crazy how small colonial America was, because guess who else began attending King's College in 1773 before being formally matriculated in 1774? Alexander Hamilton. Who, like George Washington who originally wanted to send Jacky to Princeton, had applied first to Princeton but gone to King's College after being rejected.
You can really see their contrasting motivation because Hamilton was devouring all these books and whatnot as per usual, and Jacky was out here sending letters to his mother going "the teachers look upon me in a particular light aka they suck up to me a lot"; Myles Cooper the president of King's College writing to Washington in the best light possible at first, saying that Jacky "dines with the Professors and myself in the College-hall...I doubt not will make a Proficiency equal to the warmest Wishes and Expectations" in July. But they gave up the ghost and Washington wrote in December that Jacky wouldn't be returning to King's College. Very passive aggressive: "I have yielded, contrary to my judgment, & much against my wishes, to his quitting College." (Myles Cooper is also the Loyalist that Hamilton tried to help by talking down the Patriot mob long enough for him to escape.)
From the notes in Cooper's September letter to Washington, it appears that Jacky left King's College late September and arrived (?) at Mt. Vernon on October 2nd, never to return. Washington assumed this was just a mini vacation but it wasn't. Knowing this and that Hamilton most likely started studying in fall of 1773, there's a very slim chance that Custis and he crossed paths at least once.
Someone write that fanfic for me. Hamilton remembering a lackadaisical, pompous student he met at King's College, joking and sharing the story with the military family - Washington realizing who he's talking about, but not saying anything much until Hamilton realizes in horror that the "John or whoever that ate with the professors and never picked up a book and went on and on about his girl Nelly" is General Washington's son Jacky.
This is me still fixating about the southern Hamilton au, but it tickles my fancy to think that both Washington's actual son and his rumored illegitimate son attended the same college in the same year, though with wildly different results. More realistically, even if Hamilton never met Jacky, it still must've been an awkward conversation with the general, if it ever got brought up. "I studied at King's College, sir." "Oh really? My son attended King's College in 1773." "Oh! I started studying there in 1773 too, maybe I met him!" "Probably not since he dropped out in a few months." "Oh."

A few things you should know about shitty US electoral politics (long post)
Neither party gives a fuck about you, and the leadership of BOTH parties support the genocide in Gaza, but you already knew that.
HOWEVER, various prominent GOP figures ALSO supported a right-wing domestic coup attempt, want to ban abortion nationwide (overturning Roe v Wade was a step along the way to that), want draconian restrictions on birth control, to ban same-sex marriage, ban sex education, ban any and all queer-positive literature, want to "phase out" social security and medicare, to completely rewrite US history textbooks nationwide with a nationalist agenda that erases US crimes against non-white peoples (already done in some states), allow US law enforcement to stop anyone darker than mayonnaise and demand to see their papers, start a nuclear war, abolish the minimum wage, outlaw their political rivals, weaponize the justice department, FBI, and other federal agencies against their political rivals, outlaw dissent of any kind, and remove restrictions against using US troops against US citizens (see Tuberville's blocking of top military appointees so that a future GOP president can appoint GOP/Trump loyalists to those positions, the way they blocked judicial/SCOTUS nominees in order to get Roe v Wade overturned).
The GOP openly states that they know the only way they win elections is by keeping non-right-wing voters away from the polls, and they invest heavily in, among other things, online psyops to convince people not to vote. And it works, because right wing voters ALWAYS show up to the polls.
Every time a right wing candidate wins, Dem leadership goes, "Huh, I guess we need to field more conservative candidates if we want to win elections." The idea being that if they can somehow "meet in the middle," they'll get the conservative vote. (Hint: They won't.)
So what convinces the Dems to run more progressive candidates? Overwhelming support at the ballot box for leftist candidates on the local and primary levels--school board elections, senators and representatives at the state and federal level, sheriffs, judges, mayoral and city council races, and various other local and regional elected positions. That's it. The only two things they understand are money and winning.
Whomever wins the presidency and gets enough congressional support gets to appoint federal and supreme court judges, top military officials, and various other decision-makers. THIS IS HOW THE GOP WAS ABLE TO OVERTURN ROE V WADE.
The US can't be fixed in a single election cycle. Every cycle in which the GOP wins, however, pushes the Dems further to the right AND allows the GOP more power to enact their vision.
Yes, we need viable third parties. Unfortunately, barring a miracle, third parties and independents are right now viable only in some local, and possibly a few congressional races.
In order for third parties to be viable for things like presidential elections, we're most likely going to need ranked choice voting--which, again, we may eventually get by pushing progressive candidates at the state and local level--publicly-funded elections, the abolition of the electoral college (both Bush and Trump lost the popular vote, and were only awarded victory because of the electoral college), and the repeal of Citizens United (which essentially legalized large-scale corporate bribery of candidates).
Look, we all hate Biden, and refusing to vote for him (or whatever other shitbag candidate the Dems run) might feel good, but it is also likely to result in a GOP win--which means MORE support for genocide the world over, and the GOP gaining more power to enact their wish list, which I partially enumerated above.
How many people do you think will die under a nationwide abortion ban? How do you think it's going to work out if a far-right president has the authority to unleash US troops on protesters? How many seniors and disabled folks do you think will suffer and die if Social Security and Medicare are abolished? How many will suffer and die if Trump gets his wet dream of a nuclear war?
I mean, the US has already bombed its own people for not toeing the capitalist/white supremacist line, sponsored coups against foreign leaders and replaced them with dictators, and invaded or threatened to invade foreign countries for not bowing to US corporate interests (look up the origins of the term "banana republic," "overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom," and "1953 Iran coup," for just a few examples), experimented on US citizens without their knowledge (look up "tuskegee syphilus study," among many other things) and so on, and so on.
And if the GOP gains control of all three branches of government, it's going to get even worse.
Today's GOP is more rabidly extremist than at any other time in my life. And as I said, I'm OLD, dude. I was born the year Kennedy was assassinated. Among my early memories are watching the first lunar landing, watching Nixon's "I am not a crook" speech, and seeing news footage of the US withdrawal from Vietnam. And I'm telling you, today's GOP makes the GOP of my youth look practically benign in comparison.
I used to roll my eyes at the refrain of, "this is the most important election of your life," and the "blue no matter who" folks, but man... The 2016 election really WAS the most important, but only SO FAR.
Because the GOP--due to the facts that GOP/Trump supporters voted, and many others didn't--will most likely control the Supreme Court for DECADES to come, and currently control the Senate. If they gain the presidency, retain control of the Senate, and take control of the House, all may be lost.
Again, the far right openly states that keeping non-conservatives from voting is how they win, and they invest a lot in gerrymandering, voter roll purges, and online psyops to make that happen. Doing exactly what the fash want "but for leftist/progressive reasons" isn't the own you think it is. Funny--I hear the same folks who mock far right voters for voting against their own best interests say they're "protesting" by refusing to vote--when that's exactly how the far right wins.
Look, I'm old. I was planning to live my final years outside the US, eventually immigrating to the Republic of Ireland or Uruguay or somewhere like that, but now that I have a child, I'm being forced to return to the US for at least a few years so I can use my medical benefits to live long enough to see her grow up. If she ever needs an abortion, or birth control, or to fight a discrimination or sexual harassment case, or simply to speak her mind without fear of being arrested or killed for it, or needs social security or Medicare because of a disability, I want her to have those things.
Another argument I've heard is that, "Voting doesn't change anything." Well, when I was a kid, mixed-race marriages were FINALLY legalized across the US, and schools became multiracial. More recently, same-sex marriage was made the law of the land. Conservatives fought all of those things, but voting made them happen.
On the flip side, thanks to the far right takeover of SCOTUS, Roe v Wade was overturned as an end result of the far right winning elections. (And again, this is just part one of their plan for a nationwide abortion ban.)
So don't look at it as voting FOR whatever shitbag the Dems run; look at it as voting AGAINST a full-on right-wing takeover of the US and buying time to make some fundamental changes. Voting doesn't mean you can't ALSO march, etc.
Or I mean, if you want a nationwide abortion ban, a nuclear war, MORE genocide, and all the other stuff of right-wing wet dreams, and want a far right takeover of the US while you tell yourself, "Yeah, but I maintained my moral purity," then by all means withhold your vote. Just don't delude yourself about the outcome.

Barn Anon,
Hello, yeah recently I've been seeing large gifts of freshly killed meat but here's the kicker....I've been hearing wolf howls at night and the other night I saw like three Space Wolves just playing around with the stuff in my garden. I don't want to get rid of them but they're just absolutely ruining my flowerbed.
Also I think their pack leader has been scratching at my door and staring at me through the window to let him in.
~ Survivalist college anon
Well Survivalist College Anon congrats on the space wolves?
This isn't barn anon right?
Regardless if they are Loyalist, Renegade, or Chaos Space Wolves are fine friends to have and very loyal to the pack.
Have you been making eye contact with the pack leader? If so he might have bonded to you and is worried about you. He is the one who dictates the hunts and the division of spoils so if you've been getting meat either he or if one of the other ones bonded to you, has been giving up his portion of spoils. You better get an outdoor/garage freezer to put the meat in. Its very rude to let it spoil. Unless if you have salt around they'll salt the meat for you... they are Vikings you know.
A lot of people like to point out their wolf sides and while yes the wolf motif is strong... they are very similar to Vikings. They have a dedicated bath day and always carry a grooming kit. Sure they might get a bit smelly the day before bath day but they are very hygienic and love to be well groomed. They often do communal bathing so don't be alarmed if they drag you to it and help wash you.
Though Space Wolves can act a bit odd some might even say "flirty" but they are boisterous and make sure you have plenty of high proof alcohol or let them set up a moonshine still. Regardless it's better to let them in before they force themselves in cuz otherwise you might wake up and be wrapped up in the cloak of a roaming pack.
Firm boundaries need to be established!
Good luck!

Simeon Oakden, head librarian of the Las Vegas Chantry 🩸🔮 Play by post I joined wanted more Camarilla loyalists and I said hold my beer. This guy is the fucking worst. Posh Victorian Brit who went to Oxford and was an occultist and historian as a mortal, earned his position through sheer advanced bootlicking. He has a prey exclusion because he’s so pretentious he won’t feed from anyone without a college degree, acute hearing & he will (politely) lose his mind if you make noise in the library, hounded by an imp that keeps stealing his fucking books, arcane curse where anything he writes appears to all readers as gibberish so he has his ghoul act as a scribe for him, and movement of the mind so he can sort books without needing to reach that pesky top shelf. LITERALLY a gatekeeper. And a gaslighter. But not a girlboss :(

TAYLOR DERANGEMENT SYNDROME TAKES OVER INADEQUATES, INC.
TCINLA
JAN 31, 2024
The Bulwark’s entertainment editor, Sonny Bunch, gets it right about this week’s MAGA brainfart over Taylor Swift:
“Of all the dumb things the nascent nouveau right has tried over the years, attempting to turn conservatives against the NFL is by far the dumbest.
“It’s a sort of brainwashing, like you see in 1984 or Scientology. Get people to say the dumbest shit imaginable (“Two hot celebrities dating is a psyop culm, inating in the Illuminati fixing the Super Bowl so you’ll have to get vaccinated!”) and they’ll believe anything.”
Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift hasn’t even endorsed President Joe Biden for reelection yet. That hasn’t stopped upper crust members of MAGAworld Inadequates Inc. from declaring a “holy war” on the pop mega-star, especially if she ends up publicly backing the Democrats in the 2024 election.
According to three people familiar with the matter, Trump loyalists working on or close to the former president’s campaign, longtime Trump allies in right-wing media, and an array of outside advisers to the ex-president have long taken it as a given that Swift will eventually endorse Biden, as she did in 2020. Indeed, several of these Republicans and conservative media figures have discussed the matter with Trump over the past few months. In recent weeks, the Inadequate-in-Chief has told people that no amount of A-list celebrity endorsements will save Biden. Trump has also privately claimed that he is “more popular” than Swift is and that he has more committed fans than she does. Last month, he said that it “obviously” made no sense that he was not named Time magazine’s 2023 Person of the Year,an honor that went to none other than Swift.
The state of affairs among MAGA Inadequates Inc. is truly remarkable. A subset of America actually purports to boycott Disney, the world's preeminent entertainment company; Bud Light, once America's most popular beer; Target, the quintessential brick-and-mortar shopping destination; Pfizer, the pharmaceutical company that produced life-saving Covid-19 vaccines; Major League Baseball, the nation's favorite pastime; and now Taylor Swift, a generational icon who is one of the most successful musical artists of all time.
It’s incredibly idiotic, but the online right-wing worldview ALWAYS chooses bizarre conspiracies as their default setting for any event that captures the public interest. As Jonah Goldberg put it at The Dispatch, “Now they declare war on the National Football League and Taylor Swift - what’s next, sunny days and hotdogs?”
World’s Dumbest Mick and Proof the English Were Right, Sean “Hammerhead” Hannity, running to not be late to the party, has concluded Taylor Swift was lied to and misled by the left, saying, “Maybe she just bought into all the lies about conservatives and Republicans, that they’re racist and sexist and homophobic, and xenophobic and transphobic and Islamophobic, that Republicans and conservatives want dirty air and water and a total ban on all abortion with no exceptions. If she believes all that, she is believing a lie because those talking points are simply untrue. Now, I’m just saying maybe she wants to think twice before making a decision About 2024.”
(Mmmm, Sean baby, I hate - no, I don’t, I love it! - being the guy to tell you that it’s you who have been misinformed. All you and the rest of the seething Inadequates ARE INDEED “racist and sexist and homophobic, and xenophobic, and transphobic, and Islamophobic, and want dirty air and water, and a total ban on all abortion with no exceptions.” IT’S YOU baby!!)
Every last one of the Inadequates - from The Inadequate-in-Chief, to Best-Dressed Turd Steve Bannon, to reincarnation of Reinhard Heydrich Steven Miller, through all the otherwise-unemployable grifters like junior college flunkout Charlie Kirk - knows in their heart that no matter what they ever do, nothing will ever lead to the glass door they have had their noses pressed to all their loser lives opening with an invitation to come inside.
Trump knows that all the famous golfers he invites to his courses tell everyone they know about how he cheats so obviously, and laugh at him.
Miller knows that the Cool Kidz at Santa Monica High who laughed at him for all those years won’t be inviting him to the After Party at his Twentieth Year Reunion next year.
Bannon knows that no one in Hollywood who matters is ever going to return his many phone calls.
Because They. Are. Losers.
It’s the knowledge of how Inadequate they all are and always have been that drives them, like the lost souls in “The Day of the Locust,” to want to knock down Taylor Swift - who has shattered virtually every major record in the music industry, as she lives her best life supporting her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, while she breaks the brains of each one of the Inadequates.
The digital fever swamps are where the boys no woman would ever touch gather to fume over everything and anything Swift-related. Her world-wide popularity, the success of the Eras Tour - which is so big that it has notably added to the country’s Gross National Product - her relationship, her appearances at NFL games, and especially her politics - all of that drives the losers crazy.
When the Chiefs won the AFC championship on Sunday, punching the team’s ticket to the Super Bowl (for the third time since t hey appeared in the first on), the Inadequates began shouting about long-standing conspiracy theories around the NFL’s “scriptwriting” for football seasons.
All that gets added to the river of shit pouring from the Inadequate conspiracy theorists who have been claiming since she was first spotted at a Chief’s game that Swift’s involvement with Kelce is part of a deep state plot to build support for President Biden in the 2024 election.
The result is as ugly as it is stupid.
Millenial We’d All Like To Throw From An Upper Story Window Head First, Inadequate blowhard Vivek Ramaswamy, tweeted last Monday that he wondered “who’s going to win the Super Bowl next month,” adding, “I wonder if there’s a major presidential endorsement coming from an artificially culturally propped-up couple this fall. Just some wild speculation over here, let’s see how it ages over the next 8 months.”
That was in response to Pizzagate conspiracy theorist Jack Posobiec, who suggested there was a suspicious shift in Swift’s political leanings over the past several years.
Laura Loomer - who it’s rumored gives the worst blowjobs of any of the professional MAGA bimbos - wrote on Elmo’s Xitter (that’s pronounced, “shitter”) that “The Democrats’ Taylor Swift election interference psyop is happening in the open. They are going to use Taylor Swift as the poster child for their pro-abortion GOTV Campaign.”
Swift has not yet announced if she’ll attend the Super Bowl — as she has a concert in Tokyo, Japan the night before (Due to the International Date Line that allows her to leave Japan just before midnight of the day before the event and arrive in Las Vegas in the early afternoon of the day before the event, she’s pretty likely) Looney Loomer suggested in another post that Swift would be seated next to former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and California’s Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom at the game. “Just in time for 2024.”
Far-right influencer Rogan O’Handley posted a message on Xitter addressed to the San Francisco 49ers, in which he suggested that if the Chiefs won the Super Bowl, Swift and Kelce would trigger an apocalyptic chain of events that would kill millions. “You MUST defeat the Chiefs! If you don’t, Mr. Pfizer and his girlfriend are going to tour the country as ‘world champions’ helping elect Joe Biden WW3 will likely follow in a 2nd Biden term and millions will die. The fate of the free world rests upon your shoulders”
Failed GOP candidate Jack Lombardi II wrote on Xitter that he has “never been more convinced that the Super Bowl is rigged. With all the unneeded and unwanted Taylor coverage at the games. KC’s journey to the Superbowl – totally scripted … KC wins. And then later [they announce] their support for Biden. Coincidental? No. Bought and paid for couple. SMH.” He later posted that, “Taylor Swift is nothing more than a controlled influencer who has been put to work by those who seek to destroy America. She is a very talented operative working for the same group responsible for the timely and coincidental covid-19.”
Podcast host Mike Crispi raged that “The NFL is totally RIGGED for the Kansas City Chiefs, Taylor Swift, Mr. Pfizer (Travis Kelce). All to spread DEMOCRAT PROPAGANDA. Calling it now: KC wins, goes to Super Bowl, Swift comes out at the halftime show and ‘endorses’ Joe Biden with Kelce at midfield.”
And just to prove that every part of MAGA Inadequates, Inc., is aboard for this shitshow, when I was in the grocery store this afternoon, I spotted the new issue of the National Inquirer in the rack by the checkout line. The third headline read” “CROOKED NFL REFS ALL IN FOR RIGGING SUPER BOWL.”
Republican Georgia politician Kandiss Taylor wrote that she “tried to warn yall back in October that the influence of [Taylor Swift] on our youth with witchcraft was demonic, evil, and Luciferian. Of course, Satan wants to use her now to elect Joe back into the White House to destroy what’s left of America.”
Conservative commentator Benny Johnson freaked out over a magazine stand at a Barnes & Noble that had been stocked exclusively with Taylor Swift covers. He posted on Xitter that “Taylor Swift is an op. It’s all fake. You’re being played.”
Charlie Warzel, staff writer at The Atlantic who covers the intersection of politics, technology, and culture, wrote, "There’s something striking about watching the far-right tying itself in knots and attacking Swift and Kelce that demonstrates how badly the far-right media has alienated itself from most of society. They’ve built out this alternate universe and reality of grievance and it feels like instead of using it to wage an effective culture war, they’re fully lost in it and can’t see that they’ve chosen as their primary enemy the person with the literal highest approval rating in American life right now."

Voices from Gaza - Episode 4 - Israel's Campaign to Overthrow Hamas
At this time, as a person living in the prison that is Gaza, my prime, immediate enemy is Hamas -- not the occupation. We're used to saying "occupation," because we've been saying it for a long time, but the real occupation is Hamas. It is a barrier I need to remove from my life.
If the Jews come and remove it, I will support them.
Who made us live in poverty in Gaza? Not the Jews -- Hamas.
Who made it impossible for me to get a job? Hamas.
Who killed my brother? Killed my brother right in front of me, understand? The Jews didn't kill my brother; Hamas did.
Every Gazan right now dreams that those people will go away, as we are paying the price for Hamas's idiotic decisions. For how long? If Hamas remains, there might for example be a truce, and in a year or two Hamas would repeat the same scenario.
In those two years, I'll go backwards 50 years -- and I need two good years just to get back on my feet. I have no house, no life, nothing. We're condemned to suffer because of this stupid organization. which I do not recognize as a government.
They took power through a coup and treachery -- and those who take power by treachery never rule justly.
Hamas cares only for its loyalists, the officials. It's like the ancient Roman empire, when the emperor and his elites made the people slaves. The Hamas government is the same.
We welcome any change that will save us from this indigation called Hamas, whether by Jews or non-Jews.
Anyone who does an act of good for us is my friend, whatever his nationality. As long as they get me out of this hell, I don't need heaven -- just a normal life.

“We’ve been in this tent for five months,” says a 21-year-old Swiftie waiting outside Buenos Aires’ River Plate Stadium. The rumble of a mixing truck can be heard through the tent’s thin fabric, while a large group of ants hopes for a snack to fall to the ground on a nearby sidewalk. The fan prefers to remain anonymous, because her father doesn’t know she’s been spending many afternoons—in between working a part-time job and taking college classes—in a small, makeshift encampment alongside her fellow Taylor Swift loyalists since June. “I usually tell my dad I’m at a park drinking mate with somebody, or visiting a friend of mine who lives near the stadium,” she adds.
She’s hardly alone in her dedication. Ahead of Swift’s three Buenos Aires shows, which kick off November 9, as part of the Latin American stretch of her Eras Tour, hundreds of fans have been occupying four tents outside the stadium, taking turns in carefully planned rotations. Most of the campers have general admission floor tickets, and the goal is to be as close to the stage as possible when the show begins.
An internal spreadsheet, created by two organizers and updated by assigned administrators, keeps track of around 60 folks per tent. Most of them are young women, but no one under 18 is allowed. Based on a ranking system gathering everybody’s total time, the longer you’ve been in a tent, the higher the chances of being one of the first in line. A fan named Carmen tells me she’s spent more than 300 total hours, or 12-and-a-half days, in the tents.
These rules, which were leaked online in June and went viral soon after, detail the incentives: Camping during a storm grants you double the hours (rain and drizzle, however, don’t count), as does spending a full night. In fact, sleepovers are now mandatory at least once a month, alongside a minimum of 60 monthly hours, to maintain one’s spot.

The Hunger Games: Volunteer's Vow
Hi there! 24F looking for people interested in a group Hunger Games rp called “Volunteers Vow”on Discord! Please be 18+ and fairly active!
Plot overview: The 25th Anniversary of the Capitol’s Surrender is approaching. And with this anniversary, the Capitol’s most prestigious university, Bellator, has opened its doors to students from the Districts, a controversial decision made by Panem’s government and the districts themselves. It is the first program of its kind and meant to allow the Capitol and the Districts to strengthen their bonds. It is the strongest bid to do so since the rebuilding process after the 2nd revolution.
Students were chosen through an extensive screening process handled by each district. Among these students are the children of remaining victor’s, with officials stressing that this was done voluntarily and no violence is to occur. However, even with such promises, no one can deny the tension deeply embedded into the minds of those participating. Loyalists still live on… Just much quieter than in the days prior to the second revolution. Many Capitol college students are part of the first generation born after the war and as such have been taught to see district people as being beneath them, meant to work under or for them. Whereas many District people do not trust Capitol people given their history and general attitude. It’s anyone’s guess if this program will actually be successful but the benefits were decidedly worth the risks and it has been enacted. And with it, promises of District students being offered full-ride scholarships as well as allowances for amenities and food provided to them by the Capitol.
As such, dozens of young District college students would now begin or continue their schooling at Bellator University. How will they cope?

episode 3342982 of me going wtf was hamilton's life
Did y'all know that someone broke into Hamilton's dorm room and stole his books and pamphlets, likely because they were Loyalist and wanted him to shut up? They took a bunch of papers that patriot Alexander McDougall had supplied, presumably to aid Ham with the anti-British arguments he was publishing.
I swear there was something in the amrev air because everyone was batshit crazy. Who's the guy who climbed through a window, broke open a case, just to take a bunch of reading material from Hamilton and dip? Can you imagine being a stressed college student coming back to your dorm after a long day only to realize that some little shit had gone to the trouble of breaking and entering just to take books and papers you needed? I would've had a breakdown.
It is with the utmost chagrin I am obliged to inform you, that I am not able to return you all your pamph[l]ets; and what is still worse the most valuable of them is missing. I beg you will not impute it to carelessness; for I assure you upon my honor the true state of the case is this—I put your pamphlets in the case with my other books; and some person about the College got into my room through the window, broke open my case, & took out The friendly address, Bankrofts treatise, Two volumes of natural philosophy and a latin author. Letter to Alexander McDougall
Also hilarious how Alexander clarifies in his letter "This is not my fault and it wasn't because I was careless, I swear I swear". The letter's dated between 1774-1776 but maybe his habit of losing things was already established.
