MORE Spider Society Headcanons
Halloween: Spiderween
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First of all: DECORATIONS??????
The ENTIRE campus done up with jack-o'-lanterns and lights and smoke machines and COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF SPIDERWEBS for the Spooky vibes???!!!
Spider decorations EVERYWHERE. From October 1st.
There's a haunted house on campus - filled with volunteers AND REALLY REALLY good jumpscare holograms made by Lyla
The food court starts serving Halloween specific food. Like a Vampire Miguel Milkshake at McMiguels.
COSTUMES??!!! COSTUMES BUT OVER THE SUITS.
TRICK OR TREATING Some people stay home at their universe and people portal over for candy and they get to see a glimpse of your universe
Or you get to hop universe to universe dressed like a Spider-person dressed like a giraffe. And since it's Halloween, it's fine if a bunch of Spider-people are running around dressed ridiculous because so is everyone else on most Earth's, Miguel's like 'yeah sure okay'
BIG BONUS POINTS if they dress up like ANOTHER Spider-person but like... Still over the suit.
Like wearing the crappy costume Miles had over your actual suit and 'acting' like someone else.
And EVERY TIME you see someone dressed as you, or wearing the same costume -
You know what you must to do.
Tumblr media
One year Hobie comes as Ben Reilly. All dressed up in punk but with a blue hoodie crop top to match . He spends the whole day wailing about the harrowing memories and crouching on ledges. Dramatically collapsing in people's arms
Is your Spidersona small? Imagine them dressed as Miguel. Walking around acting and irritated and fake angry and DOING THIS TO MIGUEL
Tumblr media
Miguels like 'are you serious? Cut that out-'
"aRe yOu SeRiOuS?? cUt ThAt OuT'
(and Lyla's like 'oooo that was good. They sound JUST like you Migs')
Lyla being a very popular costume
A bunch of Spider-people wearing fur coats and heart glass and they just decide to spend the whole day being useless to Miguel.
Which LYLA ADORES SHE'S LOVES ATTENTION
They all lounge around on all the seats like her, some even in bob cut wigs, and they follow Miguel and trying to get selfies with him LMAO
The Lyla with the cutest or funniest Miguel selfie gets put in the Campus newspaper
MJs A POPULAR ONE TOO -
ALL the lazy Spider-people wanna throw a red party city wig over their suit and be like 'I'm MJ'. NO YOU'RE NOT.
Or some will even wear their MJ's clothes. Walking around calling everybody, Tiger. (Mayday gets the joke - they're supposed to be her mom - she thinks it's HILARIOUS and giggles the whole day)
Sidebar - can you image Gwen with a wig over her suit BUT LIKE under her hood??? SO SHE WOULDN'T LOOK BALD?? I'M SCREAMING AIRPOD LOOKING AHH
VILLAIN COSTUMES - Spider people dressed as Doc Ock over their suits, coming in with fish bowls on their head and going 'Look, I'm Mysterio!! Lol'
While the caged villains are looking at them like
Tumblr media
('y'all mfers got a lotta nerve')
I bet some people get REALLY REALLY into it and go all out, designing everything to a T. (Like the perfectionist!pavitr)
Some friends even do joint costumes - WebSlinger makes a costume for Willow so they match. Hobie does all his costumes DIY and it's like the ONE thing on campus he participates in.
Because he loves the DIY spirit. And the chance to mock his bosses on company hours.
Goes ALL IN on him and Gwen's (he wants to match) costumes. Or maybe he doesn't participate cause-
What's even better is people 'Punkifying' their suit to be like Spider-punk is a popular costume too!!
They throw together their own vest and jeans and jewelry and boots. And follow Hobie around, hands in pockets, and they all act all cool and fake punk all day , Hobie hams up the act for the occasion
Hobie of course weaponizes this by annoying Miguel with his 'clones'.
Ten Hobies outside his office sturming untuned guitars REALLY badly and Hobies likes 'Keep it up you !! U sound great!!'
Miguel's office full of Hobies and Lylas, Last year Margo went as Jess and Jess was touched
Then there's some Spider-people that are broke as hell. But since they all have top tier humor they make the intentionally cheap or out of the closet costumes. that ends up being stupidly hilarious.
Like wearing boxes and drawing a Spider-suit on it. Boom - Lego Spider-man.
Sometimes people might wear their makeshift suit over their new suit. So like a Spider-person having this as their costume OVER their suit
Tumblr media
And arguably the funniest of them all - having a really elaborate overdone homemade costume of a specific hero on campus, and everyone is like woah so cool have they seen you in it yet?
And you take off the costume mask... And it's just you... AS YOURSELF Like it's just the same mask underneath LIKE A HAT ON A HAT
THERE'S SO MANY POSSIBILITIES THIS JUST BRINGS ME JOY
But the ONLY TWO THINGS YOU CAN'T DRESS AS AT ALL-
Venom and Deadpool.
Venom is too risky. Deadpool is not allowed on campus and if THE REAL ONES seen they have to evacuate and deploy the capture team cause he gets too excited (you'd be surprised of what one man is capable of in the need of Spider-attention)
Anything else is fine though-
CAN YOU SEE IT ARE YOU SEEING SPIDERWEEN????? HUH

M*A*S*H OC TIME
I love being a silly nerd! Literally just a self-insert
I literally just thought to myself "What if I was in the compound? What if I was a silly little bean along with the rest of them?"
NAME: Marieanne "Mutt" Wolfe
Age: 28
Gender: AFAB, presents otherwise, depending on the day. Pronouns are anything- she'll respond to she/her but secretly loves being referred to as male (ooooh lore)
Height: 5'4
Weight: 200
Physically Characteristics: Caucasian with a dark complexion, her dad was half-Latino. Dark brown shoulder length hair and light brown eyes, closer to amber. She has wide hips and a smaller chest. (Can't wait to get art of them aghhhhh)
She's from Georgia, her accent shows as much- not long and drawn out though, she refers to it as "hick." Was raised in the middle of nowhere- the closest small town was 30 minutes away, so her family mostly made their living off their farm. She's used to having close to nothing, so certain things about the compound- the ass tasting food, the terrible sleeping arrangements- she's used to, and takes in stride. This also causes her to have quite a positive outlook, as she's mostly a very positive person- much to a few others' contempt. Hobbies: Back home, she was quite different from her family- she loved to read and study, especially anatomy, botany and fauna as well. She also enjoys studying different religions and cultures- she always dreamed of travelling the world. She loves to sketch the makeup of different flowers and animals in her journals she keeps- although her family rebuke it as a waste of time. They were taught that work was their only livelihood.
She enjoys studying and music quite a bit- her grandmother immigrated from France- and brought over her taste for classical- especially Satie and Debussy. She distinctly remembers listening to them while her mother baked bread in the kitchen.
Because of her upbringing- she always strived to be better. On trips to Savannah as a child she would watch the high-class ladies walking down the street, and wanted to be like them. At age twelve she made it her meaning in life to graduate high school, make it to college and become something greater.
She achieved that dream; sort of. She graduated high school with a high GPA, much to her fathers' disdain. He threatened her life, and her mother was angry at her for even thinking of leaving the farm to go to a University. She applied- behind her parents' backs... and left them after her father threatened to beat her.
She graduated from Duke University- with a specialty in Neurosurgery, a minor in Religion. She achieved her dream- but lost her family at the same time...
She still carries parts from home with her. She loves nature, loves to bake and still likes to study botany in her free time. Oh, and she carries a stuffed yellow rabbit given to her by her grandmother.
She considers herself to be very religious. Her family raised her Southern Baptist- but she found the tradition there a bit unsettling. After studying several different religions, even dabbling in Paganism, she was drawn back to Catholicism- at first, strictly out of admiration for the aesthetics of it. She considers herself to have Catholic beliefs, although she's not confirmed, and even wears a rosary on her belt. She's still studying and making up her mind about her religion.
FRIENDS AT THE 4077
Radar O' Reilly- Radar is one of her best friends at the 4077- they first bonded on their shared backgrounds of growing up on a farm. As they get to know each other, they even share their love of stuffed animals- as she brought a stuffed rabbit from home. She enjoys helping him with his animals and worm farm too.
Father Mulcahy- He is probably her best friend there. Coming in, she dropped her rosary and Mulcahy retrieved it for her. She goes to his services every Sunday- and they even started a Bible Study together. He helps her a lot in her study of religion and offers to help her with her complicated past and religious trauma. They love analyzing Bible stories and theology, she especially loves quizzing him about the Catholic church and the Saints. They also have Biblical inside jokes they like to confuse other people with.
Margaret Houlihan- They are just complete girls together. Marieanne respects Margaret as if she were another surgeon and they hit it off right away. They enjoy sitting in each others tents, gossiping, and making terrible cocktails out of whatever they can find.
Charles Winchester- These two are definitely frenemies to begin with- He especially made fun of her for her upbringing, and she makes fun of his, name calling and all. She genuinely hates him at first… After some time together though, he becomes pleasantly surprised at her neurological expertise and her love of classical music. He becomes very intruiged by her, and her with him- She always wanted desperately the lifestyle that he gets to live- and he is surprised by her own interest in him, and how some "redneck swill" could EVER be interested in the same things. They become very unlikely friends, drinking tea and listening to Mozart sometimes. And of COURSE giving Hawk and BJ a hard time.
5. L. Rizzo- They get along, both from the deep south. They mostly enjoy making fun of all the "damn yanks" at the compound. He flirts with her offhandedly at first, but once she sets him straight with a swift backhand, they get along. Like siblings, she always makes fun of him for falling asleep and not knowing what the hell he's doing, usually visiting him at the garages to wake him up with a stupid prank.

Molly Lewis - On the Lips - don't know if I'm ready for a full-on lounge/exotica (re)revival, but it's the perfect milieu for a whistler
Consider this your invitation to Café Molly, a lounge bar like they don’t make them anymore. The lights are low, the martinis are ice cold, the banquettes are velvet, and the stage is set for the electrifying talent of whistler Molly Lewis. Molly’s soft-focus cocktail music conjures up visions of classic Hollywood jazz clubs, Italian cinema soundtracks and lingering embraces between lovers. After the exotica stylings of The Forgotten Edge EP and the tropicalia-indebted Mirage EP, Molly wanted to encapsulate the sound of Café Molly for her debut album On The Lips, a dreamy tribute to classic mood music. That spellbinding sound, which usually comes to life in Los Angeles, has also popped up in Mexico City dancehalls, graced the runways of Paris and London Fashion Weeks, and made a magical appearance at a children's fairyland. Molly Lewis’s love for this smoky corner of the world doesn’t end with her songwriting. She is a devotee and an archivist, capturing and enlivening the pieces that endure. She was a regular at the legendary shows by Marty and Elayne, the lounge duo who spent almost 40 years playing LA’s Dresden bar. The duo came to global fame after an appearance in 1996’s Swingers and kept going long after that spotlight faded, finally finishing their nightly residency after the death of Marty at the ripe age of 89 last year. “That felt like the end of an era,” says Molly. But there are still flashes of that world to be found, and she finds them. “I’ve been spending a lot of time in New York lately, where there are a lot more of those moody, classic jazz bars,” she explains. Over the past few years Molly has flexed her one-of-a-kind musical skill alongside Mark Ronson on the Barbie soundtrack, as well as with Dr Dre, Karen O, actor John C Reilly, Mac De Marco, fashion houses Chanel, Gucci and Hermes, and folk rock royalty Jackson Browne. After a performance with longtime friend Weyes Blood on Burt Bacharach’s The Look of Love during a Café Molly evening at LA’s Zebulon, Molly supported the singer on a US tour, introducing her sound to a brand new audience. “I forget sometimes that what I do has that factor of surprise and uniqueness – it is something that most people have never seen before,” says Molly. She too might never have entered the idiosyncratic world of whistling had she not as a teenager seen the 2005 documentary Pucker Up, which details the International Whistling Competition. Equally amused and bemused by the eccentric event, in 2012 she competed herself. Spending her early twenties in Berlin she then moved to LA to work in film – and returned to the contest in 2015 to take home first prize. One evening Molly did a turn at an open mic at the Kibitz Room, a tiny late-night bar inside historic LA deli Canter’s. Her display led to appearances at performance art happenings across the city, and she soon caught the ear of independent record label Jagjaguwar. On The Lips was recorded with producer Thomas Brenneck of the Menahan Street Band, Budos Band, Dap-Kings and El Michels Affair, at his newly-built Diamond West Studios in Pasadena. The pair bonded over the work of 1960s soundtrack composers Alessandro Alessandroni and Piero Piccioni, and, with something of an open door policy during the sessions, a stream of acclaimed musicians ended up across the album’s 10 tracks. With her intoxicating compositions, and wry brand of stagecraft (she might not be singing up there, but she can sure tell a joke) Molly Lewis looks set to join her heroes in the storied lore of the Los Angeles lounge scene and beyond. So pull up a chair, order your favorite drink, and prepare to fall for On The Lips.  PERFORMER LINE-UP: On The Lips Molly Lewis - Whistle, guitar, vocals Joe Harrison - Flute, bass Eric Hagstrom - Drums, clave Thomas Brenneck - Organ Written by: Molly Lewis

Gotta wonder, what do the bosses do when they realize that they are in love with (soon to be) s/o?
I'm sorry this was sent in nearly a YEAR AGO 😭😭 but I got you!
Also read this wrong and only realized after finishing Reilly's so uhh,,,,, sorry about that
Under a cut for Length bc there's 5 bosses
Jack
Love is something that he tries to stay away from after the loss of his family, but when he feels it again for another- there's a twinge of hope, before the crushing realization that those feelings could NEVER be reciprocated hits him. He's a gang leader who's literally returned from hell, no one could ever love something like that. He keeps his composed appearance up around them, and he'll never let his feelings slip through, he's practically a professional at bottling his true feelings.
Aaron
Gets so so confused. He never got to experience what it was like to really crush on someone, so it takes him a while to figure out why his stomach gets so light around that particular someone, why his palms get so sweaty and why words become so hard to form. It's after a discussion with Johnny that he realizes he's fallen, and that's when he immediately goes to confront those feelings in the form of confessing. It's awkward and for the first time in years Aaron can't seem to keep himself together, stuttering like a lovesick teenager. It's a mess and he's actually terrified the entire time, but he gets it done.
Axel
Immediately realizes and drops the news very casually, just comes over and goes "hey I love you, wanna get drinks?" Talking about these feelings is nothing he gets nervous about, he doesn't see why anyone would. Just don't be a pussy, say what you think, that's essentially his motto.
Shane
Like Axel, he realizes it immediately. But he doesn't act immediately, he waits. He looks for any sign that these feelings are returned, one of his best skills is reading people like books. He'll figure out that it's not one sided after a good month or two of observing, taking that person out more and more in order to further study. He just needs to be sure before he says or does anything stupid.
Reilly
Oh god he's so fucking awkward, the other person will for certain figure it out before he even THINKS of telling them. A single compliment makes his face flare up, he seems to stare at them and get lost for what feels like hours on end, it could only be more obvious if his heart was literally pounding out of his chest like a cartoon.

what about your favorite musicals adapted into movies? i've only seen very iconic ones and now looking for some less wildly known jams and you seem to like theatre a lot! ANY recs welcomed
ooh good question! i will say a lot of the big ones are the better ones (Chicago (on HBO Max if you haven't seen it) is unimpeachable, Mamma Mia! and Hairspray (Netflix) are good lighter choices, Fiddler on the Roof is good for the opposite of light, Cabaret and West Side Story (the latter of which is on pluto and tubi and whatnot rn) are two of the greatest films of all time, regardless of genre. Rocky Horror and Hedwig and the Angry Inch are queer classics worth a watch.)
I really recommend Sweet Charity for its choreography and its characters. The last gasp of the big budget MGM style musical. Little Shop of Horrors is great if you're a B-movie/camp fan (HBO Max)
I don't really recommend any of the Sondheim film adaptations (except maybe Gypsy), but the proshoots of Company 2006 (really cannot recommend enough if you want sophisticated musical storytelling and character development or if you want to feel really, really lonely. if it really floats your boat, try Passion next.), the Sweeney Todd concert with Emma Thompson (melodrama and horror and opera and musical comedy all in one), Into the Woods (don't watch the film it's not worth it,,,) and Sunday in the Park with George (it has huge structural problems imo but mandy patinkin hot and bernadette peters hot and the relationship of the artist to the world sad) are all great watches.
There are also a bunch of musical or musical-adjacent films not based on stage shows that I strongly recommend (obviously I never shut up about All That Jazz, Sing Street is sweet, good music, full of pathos, That Thing You Do! (super cute, tom hanks' directorial debut, free with Am*zon Prime), Walk Hard (musical biopic parody with the golden voice of john c reilly), arguably O Brother, Where Art Thou? and Inside Llewyn Davis (if you like country/folk/traditional. also you can dm me for a link to the latter!))

this year had me getting into mafia books too. and i have read some really great ones, but there's also some seriously unhinged wtf is happening books too lol. the sinners anonymous books have been on my tbr list so i'm glad to see they're good. will definitely be checking them out soon. i was rec'd by my friends to try cora reilly and really enjoyed her books, especially the camorra chronicles series. also loved the made series by danielle lori. one series i was kind of meh about because of how dark it got was the beauty in lies and bellandi crime syndicate books by adelaide forrest. those get pretty intense so if you were interested i would definitely check the trigger warnings. another friend told me to try rina kent the other day and i started with one of her less dark series (empire series) as a introduction - mostly it's cause the royal elite series is like high school age and i'm not here for that tbh - and it was an experience. i will say the empire series is super light on any mafia stuff, like only 2 out of the 4 mention anything mafia related it's mostly following these partners at a law firm. anyway i really loved 3/4 of the books so for that alone i would rec, but book 1 was really not it for me. i'm surprised i continued with the series tbh cause the couple imo was gross. and it's not about the age gap or the fact it was a girl falling for her dad's best friend it was the fact that this man knew her since the day she was born and was called "uncle" for years. that alone just skeeved me out and i wish i had skipped that book cause the rest were really really good.
Mafia romance books are truly a hit or miss because if the characters can pull me in, I can handle terrible writing but if the characters suck AND it's bad writing? Why????
I definitely think Sinners Anonymous is pretty well written and engaging (not to mention pretty hot tbh). I'm excited to continue with it because I heard the next books get even better!
I read the Born in Blood series (1-5) for Cora Reilly and at the time I read them, I kid you not, I was o b s e s s e d even though IMO, they were not well-written haha. But idk what it was! It had a chokehold on me even though I remember nothing now HAHA. I'm interested in maybe reading the Camorra Chronicles. Twisted Emotions gets a lot of hype so if anything, I'd probably read book one to get to it and then see if I like it enough to continue. I enjoyed the Made series too! Books 1 and 2 more than book 3 but interested enough to read the 4th book if it ever comes out lol.
I also read the Brutal Birthright series which is very, very light on mafia that I wouldn't really call it that. They're just criminals I GUESS LOL. It was entertaining to an extent but I didn't love it. Books 4 and 6 ruined it for me.
I've heard mixed reviews about Rina Kent books! I can't read anything that has HS ages in anymore so I don't think I'd go near that series just for that. Plus that little tidbit you just shared makes me wanna vomit so PASS lol.
Another series I heard is well-loved and well-written is the Dark Verse by RuNyx! I haven't read it yet but I'm definitely interested and will likely after I finish Sinners Anonymous! If you've read it already, let me know!!

Getting Numerous For Do-It-Yourself Car Repair
Tumblr media
There is a gray area however in the definition of these cars. Some which are younger than 25 years are referred to as modern classics, although the popular associations will not accept it. The Porsche 944 is a modern classic. I had never seen wipers so ineffective. We stopped at an closest o reilly near me. I think that was the only time I was ever to be in an auto parts store with my dad. All that manly stuff looked formidable; the operation of all these tools and strange parts was contained in brains that mine would never communicate with on an equal level. I was intimidated, and so was my dad. There were men behind counters speaking about things I would never know using words I didn't know, in dialects that I had never heard before. These people had to live around me, but they were strangers. Living in a different world, a world where men tore apart cars, and could put them back together, or at least talk like they could put them back together. After a car accident, depending on how serious the accident was, your insurance company will determine if your car is a total loss or if it can be repaired. If you own an older car, the chances are high that if the insurance company considers it would cost more to repair it than the car is actually worth, they will total it. However, this is not always the case. Repairing is not an easy job, especially if you have to travel around town searching for the right part without your vehicle. Taking your car to the garage may not always be a feasible solution. If this is the case, then simply buy parts for cars online. Easily repair and replace service parts, braking, engine parts, transmission, electrical & lighting and cooling & heating components. In the EFI market, you can always rely on brands such as Bosch, Delphi, Hitachi, Denso,Walker, VDO, Valeo, Standard, General Electric, Walbro, Pierburg, Bremi, Bougicord etc. Purchasing used car parts is a great way to save money at about an average of 55%. In addition to being able to cut costs and conserve natural resources, it gives you a wider range of car parts to choose from that will meet the quality requirement and functionality of new car parts. Caliper: A caliper is a part of your breaks. It puts pressure on your brake pads when you need to slow down and bring your car to a stop. used auto parts store near me might have a floating caliper or a fixed caliper, but both work for the same end. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Some people hesitate to ask questions because they are afraid to sound like a novice. As a result, they end up getting the wrong item. It doesn't matter if you know a lot about cars or not. What matters is getting the right item that will bring back the functionality of your car. And you can do so by asking the right questions to the right people. You know the job is being done right because you will be doing it yourself. DIY is always better than letter someone else tamper with your car. Once you know, what has to be done, you will be able to get the right auto parts and do the jobs right yourself. When people talk about "tricking out" their car, the first item they think of is a stereo system. If they didn't choose the upgrade from the dealership, they are most likely thinking about installing a stereo with huge subwoofers in the back. While an awesome sound system is definitely important, there are a lot of cosmetic changes and little details you can focus on. Just like in your home, it's the little details that matter.

Yooo, for the writer asks: 1, 21, and 23? :O
Evening darling, thank you for the asks! ^_^
Answering asks 1, 21, and 23 from this ask list.
1. Is there a story you’re holding off on writing for some reason?
Yes, actually! Right now I'm holding off on completing my Stolen Stories.
In the previous ask I mentioned that I completed the first draft of Book One in my Stolen Stories series between May and October of 2020.
My plan was to continue with that series and write Book Two while doing the first round of edits on Book One, so that I'd be writing Book Three while sending Book One out to Alpha/Beta readers. There's a full 6 books planned for that series, so I wanted to overlap them all slightly, and then eventually publish Book One sort of around the time I started writing Book 4.
But...
When I started looking into the publishing side of actually being a self published author, the reality of the process kind of hit me a little harder than I expected.
The first time you do something, anything, you're bound to make mistakes. I only have to look back at my first story to know that and, for all my years of writing practice, I've never hit the publish button on a book.
And 'Stolen' is my baby, for lack of a better term. Stella Korazon and Reilly Mosswolf are the darlings of my heart. I'd die for them, I'd kill or them. I do not want to "practice" the art of publishing a book with their story.
So Stolen, and it's sequels are currently on hold, and that's why I'm working on the Fey Touched novels right now. That's not to say I love Lizzy and Andric and Booker any less, but I have to split my mind into author and self-publisher. As an author, I love Fey Touched just as much as Stolen, but as a self-publisher a trilogy of 90k books failing is better than a 6-book series where each book is 140k+ failing.
Fey Touched is where I will hit publish for the first time and, hopefully, discover all the mistakes I'll inevitably make so that I can more effectively promote and market Stolen, when that monster of a series is ready for the world at large.
21. What do you think when you read over your older work?
That entirely depends on how old the work is :D
If it's something I've written within the last 1-5 years, then most of the time my reaction is something along the lines of;
"Oh wow, that's pretty good."
"Damn, that's an evocative line. Did I actually write this?"
"I FORGOT ABOUT THAT PART!!"
If, on the other hand, it's something like my first manuscript from when I was age 8 or 9, my reaction is usually something closer to;
"Oh no... that's... oh dear."
"Oh gods, please tell me I didn't say that..."
"Umm... That word doesn't mean what I thought it meant..."
"Bloody hell, I'm glad no one else will ever read this."
Having said that, @faelanvance takes great delight in digging through my old manuscripts and reading them back to me aloud for my ultimate mortification :D
23. Any obscure life experiences that you feel have helped your writing?
Probably too many to fit into a single tumblr post, honestly.
I'm constantly drawing from my own life experiences to put my readers into my characters positions. I can take pain and terror or Joy and Laughter from one set of experiences and then Copy/Paste it, for lack of a better term, into a different situation, but that direct knowledge lets me bring the descriptions to life for the reader. At least, I certainly hope it does!
As for specific situations that I feel have helped my writing... Let me just pick a couple.
(A) My Terrible Health
I mentioned in the previous ask that I was born with congenital talipes. Anyone can google it if they want more information, but it's also known as club foot. As a child, all this really meant to me was that I was constantly in and out of hospitals for operations and physiotherapy and that I wasn't physically able to run, jump, climb trees, or even walk long distances without my feet and legs hurting.
Also, because of the operations I spent a great deal of time in bed, or sitting in wheelchairs, while I recovered.
None of this is said in a negative light, in fact, in terms of my writing I'm rather grateful for all that free time to sit and think and imagine. I was and am a voracious reader. I was reading Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, and David Eddings' The Belgariad by myself at the age of 7 and 8. If I was only going to be allowed one book in hospital, I was going to make sure it was the longest book I could lay my grubby little hands on.
I could lay for hours on the children's ward while other patients yelled and fought over the single playstation or the jigsaw puzzles, and I could create entire worlds in my head. I could bring to life characters that could explore Middle Earth or go on adventures with Belgarath, and I only needed myself and my mind.
Books were a popular gift for me, because I was physically restricted, and then once I began picking up a pen, notebooks, journals, and fancy pens were quick to follow.
I think I would still have found writing, I can't imagine what my life would be like if I hadn't discovered this passion, but I'm not 100% sure I'd have discovered it as early as I did if I'd not been forced to stay still for so much of my childhood.
(B)
Another specific scenario that I feel really helped my confidence in my writing was my High School English teacher, Mr Reck.
I was bullied through most of my schooling, mostly for being on crutches, but this really didn't bother me. I just ignored them.
But one day we had been given a task in class, and I'd already finished, so as I usually did I pulled out my notebook and started writing a story while I waited or the next task.
One of the students thought to get me into trouble by telling Mr Reck that I wasn't doing the work. He came over, looked at my completed work, looked at what I was actually doing (writing an original story), and then told me that if I ever wanted someone to read over my writing and check it, I could always leave it on his desk during lunch... and then he calmly walked away.
This was, for 14-15 year old me, mind blowing.
I didn't care about the bullies, they really didn't bother me. I also wasn't self conscious about my writing, both my parents are and have always been strong supporters of my creative work. The reason this stood out to me at the time, and continues to stand out to me as one of the defining moments of my high school life was because it was the first time someone outside of my immediate family not only read my work, but thought it was good enough to actively encourage.
Mr Reck also got me into a writing workshop that year, that was only supposed to be available to graduating students. I've no idea how he managed it, but he did and I'll be forever grateful to him. I intend to add his name to the dedication page of the first book I publish, and I'm in the process right now of trying to track him down to send him a copy.
I think I've found him, I've just got to get the nerve up to send a private message to confirm!
If there are any teachers out there reading this though, please take note of this final story. I don't know that some teachers realise just how important one, single, non-family member showing a genuine interest in a students work can affect that students entire life.

Adam Cole;
D - dirty secret, what’s a dirty secret they have
One of Adam’s favorite ways / positions is Anal. Standing up or with you bent over whatever happens to be nearby. With his hand fisting your hair or grabbing your tits / throat. The tighter you are around his cock, the more he loves it.
Adam also has a thing for risky sex. Loves to initiate where there’s at least a minimal chance of you two being caught in the act. Nothing drives him crazier. You get the distinct feeling that he wouldn’t mind being watched at all.
O - oral, their preference in giving / getting + skill level, etc
Adam’s one of those who is fine with either giving or getting. And whoa boy... does he ever know how to give. Loves to use tongue and fingers. Holds your hips with one hand to kind of angle them and ahhh fuck... yes. just yes.
Y - yearning, how high is their sex drive
Adam’s got a pretty average sex drive if I’m being perfectly honest. He loves having it, but he can go for extended periods of time without it. Especially if he’s busy with other things.
Kyle O’ Reilly;
D - dirty secret, what’s a dirty secret they have
Ride his thigh or his lap and get your insides wrecked. Also bear witness to just how fast Kyle can completely lose his defenses / concerns. All he’ll be worried about is grabbing hold of your body and dragging your cunt over his thigh / the way he’s strained at his trunks / jeans / sweats until you’re screaming, begging to be fucked.
Kyle kind of has a thing for being the dominant one in bed also. And he has himself a bit of a pain kink... The more you scratch, bite, pull hair, even choke lightly... The hotter it’s going to get him. Just... don’t expect him to give over control easily. that takes some time.
O - oral, their preference in giving / getting + skill level, etc
Kyle prefers giving, if I’m being perfectly honest. He’s very very very loud and messy when he’s in the act too. WIll bite the inside of your thighs / leave hickies down there. Loves to spell out his name when he’s got his tongue buried inside you. Huge fucking tease. Huge.
Y - yearning, how high is their sex drive
Very high. Very, very high.

Little People - An Irish Fairy Tale
Part 1 A little toast
In our time there is no more room for stories.
That is why the old man winced at the question of that girl, of indecipherable age, when she sat down on her own knees to pin on him the two blue eyes, dense with expectation.
"You've seen them, too, haven't you?" she asked the elder O' Reilly.
He did not even nod, as if there was no need for confirmation.
"daoine maithe - The lords of the good people.
Souls fallen into sin: not good enough to be saved, nor bad enough to be damned.
They are good to the good ones and cruel to the cruel ones, unstable personality, reckless, terribly touchy, and at the same time so easy to please that they might be grateful a lifetime for a glass of milk left on the windowsill at night.
They are damned, that's true, but their evil is accomplished without malice. They have gathered what humans have lost: the spontaneity of their nature. This is how they are born simultaneously from life and death."
"But how come we don't see them?"
"They have been shrinking more and more in our imagination, so that we no longer see them."
"What do you mean? One thing exists beyond our imagination" Elizabeth observed without noticing that a certain impatience had risen in her breath.
The old man smiled.
"Natural things, yes. But not the things that come from our feelings. We are the ones who make them small or large, according to our desire."
At this statement, the girl felt a shameful anxiety, as if she had been caught on a forbidden thought.
She did not understand the reason: the old man could not know of the excitement she had felt the night before.
She nervously rolled a blond curl over her finger.
"Tuvia. His name is Tuvia, the fairy you saw. A spirit of the storm," he said
"How do you know his name and how do you know he's male?"
"Hmm. It's complicated the fairy gender. Let me put it this way: just as you know the moon is female in some legends, so he is male. It's something we've long said to each other, and time has done the rest."
The conversation died down in contemplation of the fire crackling in the fireplace before them, though there were plenty of questions Elizabeth wanted to ask. It wasn't that she lacked a certain sensitivity towards mystery... she understood, however, that the grandfather could only answer in riddles and this got on her nerves.
She was stuck in that Irish countryside for the duration of the pandemic, at this point it was only natural the desire to know more about that Little People thing.
Elizabeth wasn't sure if what she had seen the night before would happen again, but deep in her heart she hoped it terribly.
Anyone of us has heard of leprechauns, but it's quite another thing to see that sort of firefly from Yeats' tales appearing in the window.
She had seen it from his bedside overlooking the window. Outside, the landscape showed its outline to the livid sky and the lightning in the distance seemed to have impressed an inexplicable mirage on the glass.
An indigo light pulsing silently caught her attention as she drew back a tapered human form the size of an inch, arms raised in exultation toward the horizon. He had gentle features and an innocent smile, but his hair and ears were pointed, as if he were a fruit blooming from a bramble.
He's calling the rain, she told herself.
It took her a while to shake herself and come to her senses, she poked cautiously at the bedside table without taking her eyes off the window and grabbed the glass she kept next to her for the night thirst.
She didn't know what had driven her to the lust for capture: the desire for an evidence? Perhaps it was more than that.
The small face turned dark suddenly, as if it had sensed a bad intention in the air and the tiny pupils pierced like needles her incredulous eyes, which stopped her bare foot still halfway between the blanket and the wooden floor.
Then he spread his small opalescent wings and disappeared among the shadows of the garden at the speed of lightning.
When she opened the window, a whirlwind of rain drenched her face and her nightgown with a sudden vehemence that had the appearance of mischief.
As she gasped, she sucked in the damp night air in an indignant exclamation and could have sworn she heard a low, childlike laugh in an unspecified spot of grass beyond the windowsill.
She grunted something in that direction before slamming the shutter and running to change clothes.
The next morning she was walking in that very garden, where she had seen the human figurine running away resentfully.
She had no hope of finding the slightest clue of what she had experienced a few hours earlier, however... you know how it works right? There's no harm in trying.
She arrived on the other side of the windowsill of the guest room where she resided, on the corner of the old estate. She remembered the exact spot where the creature had stood and not even to mention, there was no sign of it. Even if she wanted to look, the rain had surely washed away any footprints.
A cat watched lazily from above the dry stone wall that separated the O' Reilly property from the road.
The garden was large and sloped down into a hill overlooking the valley. In the distance, the clear morning made it possible to glimpse the bell towers of the nearby village and the fortress, separating them from the BlueBell woods that stretched as far as the eye could see.She knew that no one used to cut from there to go down to the village, it was natural for the locals not to disregard the most extravagant folk customs.
A red ribbon was tied to the door at sunset, lavender could not missing under the bed, no pots were left uncovered, and for the sake of God one should not speak bad of the good people, especially one should not call them "small",
it seems they are very susceptible to the size with which they are told.
For Elizabeth, however, it was their size that made them so interesting.
She wondered how such vulnerable little beings could be so feared by the inhabitants of a valley?
"They don't rule the elements, they rule luck, it's a subtle power, because when you witness it you don't recognize it," said the old man.
She thought that if one did not believe in luck, their power would be reduced to nothing. Indeed, if it was true what they were saying, that it was us humans who manipulated their manifestations, then next time she would make sure they were as insignificant as possible.
Mind you, the girl was genuinely curious and there was no sadistic intent in that desire, it was the exploration of a limit that tickled her.
She was surprised that even she, underneath, was beginning to believe all these stories. She didn't question them anymore, it was the air of the place that forced you to live with their presence, because even if they might not be true, it was the people of the valley that made them real.
"All right," she said to herself, "let's try to humor them."
And so the same night she did as the old man had suggested, she put a jug of milk in front of the window, but she made sure to cap it well and to spread resin on the rim and the handle, so that any little creature who’d tried to drink from it would be caught in it.
"Let's see if they're really dumb enough to get caught like that."
To her surprise, she slept like a rock. When she woke up, it took her a while to remember the plan she had devised the night before.
She turned to the windowsill and was not surprised at all to find that there was no little creature stuck to the resin.
"What was I thinking?" she scoffed.
She opened the shutter and absent-mindedly took the jug with a handkerchief: empty, no trace of liquid.
And the resin? Immaculate.
"What the hell?" She shook it. She checked to make sure it wasn't leaking from some chipping. Nothing.
She opened the cork just so he could make sure the bottom was clean.
The night must had been windy, because a piece of swamp straw had fortunately fallen into the spout slot.
"A straw?" she jerked again.
She hastily picked up the small straw with her fingers and struggled hard before she could read these tiny words etched on a leaf:
"Slainte."
"Cheers," the girl translated incredulously.
To Be Continued...

Parte 1

Getting Rowdy: The Unreleased Matches of Roddy Piper
Tumblr media
A few months ago I covered the DVD set WWE released chronicling the ‘unseen’ matches of “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Today I continue that trend covering those lines of DVD collections with 2019’s Getting Rowdy: The Unreleased Matches of Roddy Piper (trailer). Like with WWE’s other ‘unreleased’ line of home videos, all the matches and segments featured in here have never been released on video before. With WWE already releasing a comprehensive three-disc DVD set to Piper with 2006’s Born to Controversy, that means we are getting a collection full of deep cuts here. This two disc DVD is compiled similarly to the Randy Savage set where we get original, newly recorded interviews intersperse with the archival content. The interviews are from Piper mega-fan, “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey which are mixed in with archived home video interviews with Piper for added context. There are six sets of Rousey interviews, and they are sporadically inserted throughout the collection which also features 19 matches, nine promos and 12 editions of Piper’s legendary interview show, Piper’s Pit. WWE has established that Rousey is essentially the endorsed successor to carry on the Piper legacy, with Ronda paying homage to “The Hot Rod” by rocking her version of Piper’s entrance attire and carrying on his nickname. With that in mind, having Ronda being the featured new set of interviews to draw from seems like a fitting choice to commemorate Piper’s career here and are nice ways to mix up this collection.
Tumblr media
Ronda’s interviews are insightful on how she drew on Roddy for inspiration on MMA needing an antagonist, and how excited she was to finally meet him. I presumed she maintained a close relationship with Piper, and was surprised to learn in Rousey’s interviews here that she only met him once early in her MMA career when she got the blessing from Roddy to use his nickname and then a second time when she appeared on Pipers podcast, which was just a month shy of his death in July of 2015. Rousey went on to say one of her biggest regrets is not having a close relationship with him. There is a nice variety of the nine Piper interviews/promos included. There is a handful of the vintage Rock ‘n Wrestling era promos where Piper bellows out promos in front of a blue screen backdrop. A nice nostalgic bonus is a few vintage commercials where Piper maniacally shouts at you to purchase the latest WWE action figures. There are a few standout go-home PPV interviews here where Piper is on fire and by the end of them he got me just as fired up as Virgil for his upcoming WrestleMania match against Ted Dibiase, and on top of that is an especially intense promo with Bret Hart leading up to their WrestleMania VIII battle. There are three Roddy promos from his late 90’s WCW days, with a bewildering rant from a cell in Alcatrez and Hulk Hogan provoking Piper to cut loose on him and Bishoff in front of his son, Colt, standing out the most. These WCW promos have boisterous crowds capturing the high times WCW was riding at that time in the ‘Monday Night Wars.’
Tumblr media
It is no surprise that Piper’s rougher, brawling style will not warrant many five star classics, but a fair amount of his 19 matches here have crowds eating up the chaos Piper is delivering. I have only seen a handful of Piper’s early NWA work before, so seeing a few more of his NWA matches unearthed for this set was a treat, and his match against Jay Youngblood is a smashmouth brawl that goes to a time limit draw, and I loved seeing Piper tag with Ole Anderson against Mike Davis and Buddy Landell. There are a lot of the big arena house show matches here that were previously televised only in local markets, and like a lot of those matches in other sets, usually feature good action until a hokey finish. That is the case here with a killer clash against Paul Orndorff in 1985 fresh into their rivalry, with the crowd going bokers for them until a double countout finish. Just as riveting is Piper’s match in this set against Rick Rude where the crowd is losing it throughout, but a lot of tomfoolery I will not even begin to explain transpires and is the catalyst for one of the strangest DQ finishes I have seen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Piper teaming with Eddie and Blue-tista, looking like gold! Piper feuding with the nWo had the crowd on its feet! There are two matches on here against Mr. Perfect worth going out of your way to see. I know Mr. Fuji was an accomplished wrestler in the 70s, but never seen him in a match until this set where he is pummeled for a couple minutes against Piper until his fellow managers run in for the save. A lot of the latter matches in the back half of Getting Rowdy are quick TV matches with wonky finishes unfortunately, but for what it is worth, still draw rabid crowd reactions. There are two Nitro bouts included against Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage in 1998, but both bouts have several nWo run-ins that result in both matches being thrown out. I forgot about Piper’s brief 2003 run with Sean ‘O Haire, so it was nice to see those two again when Piper had a short encounter with Rikishi. The last match is an awesome impromptu bout against The Miz for $5000 of The Miz’s money, with Alex Reilly (remember him!?) as guest referee in 2011. I have zero recollection of this match, and even at a couple minutes long it was an absolute delight!
Tumblr media
Getting Rowdy was jacked with 24 installments of Piper’s Pit, but WWE had quite a few more to draw upon from the vault with 12 more here. Some of the early ones in this collection that were a riot were where both Jimmy Hart and the Brooklyn Brawler ruthlessly provoke Roddy to giving them a a well-earned beatdown. There are a bunch in the second half of this set when Piper would periodically show up on RAW and SmackDown for a special Piper’s Pit. Two that really got me were one with John Cena where Piper does a tremendous job at needling Cena into living up to his then-current t-shirt slogan, ‘Rise Above Hate’ and another where Roddy moderates AJ Lee attempting to get back into Daniel Bryan’s good graces after costing him his WrestleMania match against Sheamus. I enjoyed this collection more than I anticipated. As I mentioned earlier, Piper was not known for his epic wrestling abilities, so I was not letdown from the wide range of match quality from the 19 matches in the set. There are a few matches that are hidden gems in here for what it is worth, but the real reason everyone should check out Getting Rowdy: The Unreleased Matches of Roddy Piper, is for the many unreleased promos and Piper’s Pit interviews. While he may not have been a five star wrestler, Piper was easily a five star entertainer, and that is readily apparent from beginning to end in this collection.

Those Piper action figure commercials are iconic, and this set is full of iconic promos I have never seen before where the Hot Rod made Virgil look like a million bucks! I like MCU Spider-Man, but I agree with nearly all of your critiques. The 3rd film will have the same director and writers, so I don't expect the problems to be fixed, but I'm curious: do you think MCU Spider-Man is salvageable? If you could be completely in charge, how would you write the story and fix the problems?
Yeah, I don’t really expect the problems to be fixed in the third film, no matter how many times they promise it’s going to be something “different.” If I’m honest, besides the incredibly weak scripts, I think a big part of the problem is that Jon Watts is a bad director for a Spider-Man project. Which, to be fair, I think is actually why he was hired – he’s got a pretty short list of credits under his name. I mean, “Cop Car”? “Clown”? Nothing about his repertoire suggests he was going to give the studio the kind of artistic pushback they have a history of receiving from their more experienced directors. He’s basically the director version of Jell-O – easy to mold and bland to boot. The perfect guy to direct a car commercial I mean mainstream superhero film.
This is actually part of the reason I’m disappointed that the Sony-Marvel rights deal ended up sticking after all. I think that if the film rights had reverted entirely back to Sony, there might have been some damage control. We know that they intended to keep Tom Holland, if not the whole cast, for at least one more movie even if the rights had reverted entirely back to Sony so I don’t really get what the raising of arms was about. The rights reversion would’ve cut the apron strings with the rest of the MCU which would have been good, forcing both this Spider-Man to stand on his own two feet within his own narrative and also forcing the movie to focus solely on Spider-Man and on his cast. Sony’s recent Spider-Man films as of the time of writing this (I no idea what the hell they’re gonna do with Morbius and I don’t really care) have dealt with some element of “corporations are evil” – Oscorp pulling the strings in TASM/2 and Venom’s whole entire deal – and I would really like to see this version of Spider-Man be thrust into a plot where that’s the reality and that’s something he has to deal with and where he’s actually forced to defend normal people not just against a costumed villain with a grudge but against an entire system that is set up to exploit and abuse the vulnerable. I think that would have gone a long way towards if not fixing the damage inflicted upon the narrative, then at least course correcting it for the future. But that’s not happening now so whatever.
I find it kind of hard to think of what I would do if I was handed complete control of MCU Spider-Man with the caveat that I had to go forward using the two previous films as my background just because I dislike so many of the choices they made so much. On the other hand, I do like money and inflicting my own opinions on a captive audience, so. I think I would want to scale back the stakes a lot – keep Peter in New York for the entirety of the movie’s plot and film mostly there if at all possible. I would want to cute the ties to all Iron Man cast members so sorry, Jon Favreau, but you’re out, while at the same time redirecting the film’s focus into something more oriented in Peter’s civilian community. Bringing in a character like Leo Zelinsky, a Holocaust survivor who works as a tailor specializing in super-clients, would be a really good way to give Peter and the audience a personal connection to Peter’s Queens community while also tying this Peter back to the Jewish subtext of Spider-Man, and it could work in a plot where cut the Iron Man cast – this Peter isn’t an experienced craftsman when it comes to creating his own costume, so bringing in Leo Zelinsky would make sense, and a costume created by the both of them could be quite meaningful if it was played out well.
I would definitely want to give May Parker much more screentime and rework her relationship from the “big sister” role (the writers’ words, not mine) to that of Peter’s mother, someone who realistically worries about the dangers of Spider-Man but also provides a strong moral backbone for him. I’d want to establish the exact circumstances of Ben’s death – I don’t know exactly what I’d do, but given this Peter’s development has failed to track with most other Peters I would definitely want to switch Ben’s death up somehow to kind of shed some light on that. Peter and May would have to talk about him. I would definitely want to bring Peter’s classic college friends group closer together, starting with Peter and Flash since I really like Tony Revolori as an actor. I find this MJ to be an incredibly inscrutable character, and not in a good way, so I’d want to shed some better light on her, her family circumstances, and what makes her tick. I’d bring Liz back and give her some of her comic counterpart’s fire (perhaps literally, given Ultimate Liz’s Firestar status) and also I’d get Betty’s actress a brunette bob stat. There would definitely be a bigger focus on women and on Peter navigating complicated friendships with women, not just letting him have a romantic interest and that’s the end of that. I’m very conflicted on what to do with Ned Leeds because I think Jacob Batalon has some of the best screen presence of that cast, but I find it hard to get past the “Ganke Lee with a minor Peter antagonist’s name pasted on him” aspect of the character. Honestly? I might rework Ned’s role to go full villain, skipping directly to the Hobgoblin with the shadow of the Green Goblin and the Kingpin behind him. That would solve my problem of wanting to give Batalon massive amounts of screen time and a big role but absolutely detesting the reworking of Ned Leed’s into the best friend sidekick position. I would say I’d want Ned to then have a romantic subplot with a young Richard Fisk, who would be here for some reason (it’s not like it’s the worst continuity crime the MCU would have ever committed) but I don’t want yet another Disney’s first ever gay character spotlight moment to be given to the villains, so. It would take some finangling. Maybe I would reinvent Aunt May’s one time fiance Nathan Lubensky as a woman so we’d have some nice balance.
And we defend not one single bank within the movie.
Alternatively, I go mad with the power and reveal that this entire cast is made up of clones created by the Jackal, thus explaining all the Ben Reilly-inspired costumes, and subject everyone to my five movie Clone Saga adaptation dreams.
What I would really want to do given full creative control and being told I could wipe the slate clean and restart Spider-Man within the MCU, no questions asked, would be to have Peter as a retired superhero who was active underground years and years before Iron Man or the Avengers were ever on the scene, and have his daughter Mayday be the young teenage Spider-Man of the MCU, someone fresh and new who carries her father’s legacy while living in a world saturated by the Avengers legacy.
Or I’d just kill Peter and bring in a great team to do a Miles movie. I maybe think about this theoretical where I can get my claws into things a lot.
