Hey, do you ever have to deal with people who get mad when you paint non-plussized ladies? I have this friend who just gets on my case when I do. That I’m secretly hating my body when my figures are not my size or bigger. I’ve started ignoring them, but it’s still this doubt in my head now when I go to paint or sketch anyone. I’m so mad at myself for letting someone’s white knighting fuck with my head like this. Any tips for getting over it?

I mostly paint headshots, so no- I don't get that.

This topic is a double-edged sword.

It is beneficial as an artist to branch out and learn to draw many different body types because challenging yourself is good. When I was in art school, there was a gorgeous plus-sized nude model that I loved drawing because her body made interesting shapes and it was very refreshing to work with her.

Large bodies are great and full of movement and I love seeing them in art.

HOWEVER:

I'd say that most people go through a point in their life where they only draw conventionally attractive people because we learn by copying what we see on media. Movies, TV, magazines, manga, pop stars, ads...

All of these things generally feature thin (and heavily photoshopped) bodies with a specific look.

Actually, the first time I saw a fat person in a magazine was a weight loss ad that made famous sexy female icons as fat. It... actually did make me hate my body.

If you only draw thin people because that's what you have as references, it's not your fault. You haven't had a chance to branch out. And it's important that you draw what you like and learn at your own pace.

I don't think it means you hate your body. I think that you are learning. And you need to be allowed to learn. So I think that your friend could stand to lay off a bit.

Another #supersizedfic mini. Something random I’d thought about. Hope you enjoy!

A few people occupied the usually busy mall, mostly due to it only opening an hour ago. The gate could be heard opening at some stores as well as the sounds of awakening restaurants. Your eased steps echoed a bit each time you put one foot in front of the other, bouncing off the objects around you. The nails you’d done yourself clicked against your phone’s screen as you texted a few people. It only took three steps past a certain store window before you stopped in your tracks. Beginning to slowly backing up to examine what caught your eye.

You bent forward a bit to take in the lovely shoes that sat on display. A cute pair of designer heels that you’d seen online once or twice. Which you’d screenshot for future reference. Grinning, you finally thought to look at the price. That grin slowly evaporated. It was definitely out of your budget for the month, only due to your financial advisors say so.

Damn Erik and his strict budget.

You had the money for it, but once you took him on as your financial advisor he gave you no slack when it came to saving your money up. It’s not like he set the goal for how much you’d wanted to save, he was just there to make sure you reached it. With that being said, you’d done so well up to this point.

Huffing, you clicked on the FaceTime icon under his contact. Waiting for him to pick up. Three rings was all it took for him to answer, a ceiling being the only thing you saw. “Erikkkk..”

“What you tryna get now?” He came into view from setting up the camera, wiping his face with a towel. Of course he was at the gym. His shirtless body made you bring the phone closer, putting on the charm.

You laughed at that. “E, don’t do me like that now. Why I gotta want something?” He chuckled, picking up his phone and bringing it closer to him.

“Because you only put on that sweet voice for two reasons, and one of them is when you wanna buy something expensive..” He raised an eyebrow. “..Am I wrong?” He wasn’t.

You gave a playful eye roll, making him laugh. “You’re not. But look at these heels, E. You telling me that I wouldn’t look good as hell strutting around in these. They’re made for me.” Putting the camera on the shoes, you plead your case.

He looked at them, nodding as he agreed. “That’s a sight I wouldn’t mind seeing, but that doesn’t mean you need them, thickems. You have plenty of shoes at home.” You pouted at his answer, whining softly and giving him your best puppy eyes. Making him give you the biggest smile, dimples and all. “Aht aht, don’t start that with me. You ain’t getting your way this time. I need to come straighten you out?”

He seen the top of your cheeks raising, indicating a smile. Your voice was soft and innocent-like. “Maybe. I’m sure that’ll help.”

The burst of laughter from him made you giggle. He playfully rolled his eyes, looking to you with a smirk. “You so spoiled, and I can’t blame nobody but me.” You were looking at the ceiling again, seeing his arms as he slipped on a shirt. “Gimme fifteen minutes and I’ll be up there. You can’t get them, but I guess I will since you been good with this budget. We’ll see if they have a matching handbag when I get there.”

THOUGHTS ON THE CIRCLE

I am generally thrilled with the people who were in the final.. it was all my favs, and I was so happy <3 I have some thoughts about some of the people in the season so here they are!

I looked through the tag and saw a lot of Alex hate which I disagree with. Obviously the character of Adam was super creepy I agree with that but it was also very obvious that Alex was just awkward and didn’t know how to flirt. Here and there he’d let his true self shine through and those were the moments where people started liking him. He obviously didn’t think he’d get popular being Alex and thought he had to counter that by being a completely different person. Don’t let that cloud your judgement on Alex bc I think he seemed like a truly good guy..

Alana... I wanna make it VERY clear that what I’m about to say is nothing with ‘models are stuck up’ or ‘she’s too caught up in her looks’ or any sort of hate that pretty girls and models get... HOWEVER... In the clips we saw she seemed like a really shitty person not gonna lie.. And all that bullshit afterwards about her getting kicked out bc she was a model?? no she was fine in the ratings where all they knew about her was her looks and the fact that she was a model.. What people disliked about her had nothing to do with her looks, it was her personality? and the way she walked into Sammys appartement.. shit she looked like she was gonna beat her up... God I couldn’t stand her... Skinny girls chat... bitch....

Ed........ Disliked him a lot... Obviously didn’t get to know him that well but man... After Sean showed her real pictures and he said some bullshit like ‘I guess we should just lie like the rest of them and give complements’! like what the hell? people were being genuine and really thought Sean was beautiful! Just because he’s a jerk doesn’t mean everyone else is...

Rebecca/Seaburn! I LOVE SEABURN SO MUCH! This sweet guy was the highlight of the show! I have never died laughing as much as when he was trying to talk periods with the girls! “I never knew girls went into this much details” there were no details seaburn lolll they just said they had cramps 😂😂

Shubyyy! Okay For a lot of the show Shuby was my fav... And I think he’s a good guy and I have never cared more about a friendship than his and joeys... However I have to be honest, he was kinda like my problematic fav sometimes.. He had kinda like nice guy vibes here and there or at least the vibe of those guys who slutshames women and says that they shouldn’t post photos in their underwear and that threw me off.. At one point he said something like ‘there's a discrepancy with Sammy’s photos’ because she was smiling and sweet on one and in her underwear in the next one... And like.. What she can’t be hot AND smart? also he was hating on miranda and saying that she was playing the flirting game bc of her pictures which urgh... I did love him though but he irked me at times.

Miranda... I love my girl! One of my fav things was her trying to flirt with Sammy and Sammy thinking that she was calling her a catfish LOL! And honestly her and Joey were so sweet! I wish she could have stayed longer..

SPEAKING OF JOEY! My love! Holy shitttt! I thought I would hate him at first because he was flirting and stuff but then he just had to be the most genuine sweet guy ever!!! He generally deserved winning because he was such a sweetheart...

Honorable mentions: Sammy: I’m in love with her and I would marry her bc FUCK EVERYTHING I LOVED HER FROM THE FIRST EPISODE OK?! Chris: Iconic, hilarious and 100% himself! I would’ve been thrilled if he won as well! Sean: One of the first things I did when finishing the show was finding Seans instagram and following her bc a) she’s beautiful and sweet! and b) as a plussize person I need more plussize people on my feed bc its all skinny ppl..
