Feeling autumnal but too busy to stitch? 🍂🦌🍂 Fancy a new seasonal addition to your autumn decorations? 🍂🍄🍂 My new super-soft 100% cotton tea towels have been out in the wild at local shows for a few weeks (as shown here at @artatthealex 🥳) and are now available online too - and the Arboretum, complete with folly, maze, Japanese garden, Pinetum and ice-house, is filled with vivid autumn colour ready to brighten up a dull day… . Use them as tray cloths to serve afternoon tea or cover cloths for your embroidery frame or lace pillow, use poster hangers to put them in the wall or get crafty and turn them into cute cushions or tote bags, or even use them to dry the dishes…😉 I’d love to see what you creative folk decide to do with them 😃👩‍🎨 . To order, click on the image, head to the link in my bio or visit bluecoppice.com 🐝 . #bluecoppice #honeyapplemeadow #samplerstitchersofinstagram #arboretum #sampler #afternoontea #bridgerton #japanesegarden #pinetum #maze #madeintheuk (at Rugby, Warwickshire) https://www.instagram.com/p/CjRKu2yt57D/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Mount Stuart
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mount Stuart is located on the east coast of the Isle of Bute in Scotland. The Gothic Revival country house was built in the 19th century. The house was built upon an earlier 18th century home severely damaged by a fire in 1877. The Georgian wings and much of the contents survived the fire and were incorporated into the new castle by the 3rd Marquess of Bute. The opulent interior boasts carved paneling, painted mirrors, a spiral staircase, a chapel, and much more. The Marble Hall has a map of stars on the ceiling and 12 stained glass windows depicting the signs of the zodiac moving through the seasons on the walls. The Gallery’s ceiling is decorated with winding branches from the Tree of Life, which frame the classical heads of 128 goddesses from ancient myth and legend. The house has collections of art and artifacts, including works by Ramsey, Reynolds, Gainsborough, as well as books, furniture, silverwork, porcelain, and Shakespeare’s First Folio. The estate has 300 acres of gardens that include a rock garden, a kitchen garden, an arboretum, and pinetums. The castle is used as a venue for weddings and corporate events. Mount Stuart can accommodate 37 guests in 22 separate areas around the house. There is a visitor center, a shop, and the Courtyard Café and Bakehouse.

“Da kine must be catastrophic if you’re calling me at dis hour.” No hello, no fawning. But her tone isn't quite annoyed, either, just edged with sleep that she doesn't really get. "Two questions den. Are you hurt Stephen, and where do I goddah be?" {{emotional response meme}}
Tumblr media
[ Somewhere In Time / Accepting ]
Stephen's cell phone is not held to his ear by an array of scarred, tremulous digits... rather, it's tucked into the crook of his neck, held to his cheek by pressure exerted by his shoulder. The Cloak is wrapped about several of the recalcitrant specimens, but he can already hear stitches beginning to tear amidst the tinny muffled cries of the creatures.
"Not hurt yet," he responds into the speaker, while both hands weave a pair of shield spells that then curl at their edges... two halves of a sphere meant to contain them. "Central Park, East Pinetum. Got about fifty or sixty twig blights scampering around stabbing anything and everything fauna. I'm trying to contain them but Damage Control wants to call in a wood chipper. Personally I'd prefer your green thumb."
The words are barely out of his mouth when a more dramatic tearing noise reaches his open ear, and as he glances up, he sees several of the creatures bursting through a long gash in the Cloak. The bark-clad needlers all yell in high-pitched voices, and all shriek the same phrase over one another.
"I am stab!" "I am stab!" "I am stab!"

Day 3: 3rd January - Our annual visit to Pinetum Gardens was lovely as always. The rain held off until we started heading towards the end, just in time to sit under the shelter in the Japanese Garden.

The Malta Railway was the only railway line ever on the island of #Malta. It consisted of a single railway line from Valletta to a valley between Mdina and Mtarfa, in Rabat. THE MALTA RAILWAY - IL-VAPUR TA’ L-ART From 1883, Malta’s railway service started operating its single-track line in metre gauge. The train passed by several localities and was not only intended for civil purposes, but also for military ones, as in Mtarfa there were various British military installations. The Malta Railway was known in Maltese as “il-vapur ta’ l-art” (the land ship). It operated for 48 years from 1883 to 1931. The trip from Valletta to Mdina took approximately 35 minutes. The railway passenger train made its last journey on the 31st of March 1931. ONE LINE, 11KM LONG AND THE ONLY EVER IN MALTA Inaugurated on the 28th of February 1883, the Malta Railway covered a total of 11 kilometres with stations at Valletta, Floriana, Ħamrun, Birkirkara and Attard apart from the one at Rabat. Joseph Grima also notes that J. Pearson & Sons Ltd brought three standard-gauge locomotives to Malta during the construction of the Grand Harbour breakwater in 1904. The Malta Railway Company was established in 1880 and opened a railway line that ran from Valletta to Vittoriosa (Birgu), via Zabbar, Żejtun and Cospicua. The line was extended to Marsa in 1883 and was a standard-gauge railway. The Royal Navy also had an internal standard-gauge railway in the dockyard. THE CARRIAGES The carriages of the trains were made of wood on iron frames. The seats were parallel to the line on both sides of an aisle. Originally illuminated by candles, this was changed to electricity, powered by batteries, in 1900. THE FLORIANA STATION The railway line to Mdina commenced in Valletta, running from the erstwhile Yellow Garage beneath Valletta’s City Gate and up to the Pinetum, passing underneath the fortifications through a tunnel almost one kilometre long and emerging at open ground near Portes des Bombes below St. Philip’s Bastion (see photo ). This section was converted to the Malta Telephone Exchange after the railway line was closed, but has long been disused itself.
