hello, i'm back to ask for a grishaverse and lotr matchup if that's alright!! i got curious 👀

i don't wanna reveal too much abt my looks but ig my notable feature is i'm short. even my hands and feet are tiny 🥲 some also say i have a resting b*tch face that makes me seem unapproachable and serious at first but depending on how close we are, i'm actually either the one making the jokes or the one laughing at the jokes. around new ppl, i can be shy but i sorta just try to blend in and mirror their personalities. on a good day, i'm passionate, amiable, creative, and altruistic. on a bad day, i'm distant, stubborn, quick-tempered, and self-deprecating.

Grishaverse, Jesper Fahey:

- This man might not be that observant, but the minute something is wrong with you; he knows. It is as if some switch flips and a lightbulb starts to light in his head. Whenever you’re having a bad day, he’s trying his best to cheer you up. But Jesper is very much a sunshine person, so often he’ll step on your toes unconsciously. It is all in good nature of course, but he can get caught up in cheering others up.

- You write???? This man will do anything to get his hands on your writings, whether you want it or not. He’s so interested in what goes on in that brain of yours and he simply loves to see what you write down, regardless on your works being published or not. He won’t show it to others, surprisingly. He respects your work an privacy and though he violates it, he won’t let anyone else do so. He’s very protective of it. It’s something special to him.

- Jesper would never make jokes about Inej’ height because he’s scared she’ll do something, no matter how close friends they are, but with you….won’t shut up. All kinds of stupid nicknames etc. What did you expect from him?

- He has the best laughs with you. The two of you have your special kind of humor, filled with inside jokes and everything. During heists, he’s always mentioning them, distracting the both of you, much to the annoyance of Kaz. He learned to live with it eventually. It became inevitable when Nina joined in as well. Both of them will do anything just to laugh together. All of your laughs are simply so contagious, and you love sharing it with each other. Jesper cries very quickly when he laughs, with only makes the situation funnier.

Lord of the Rings, Peregrin Took:

- Golden Retriever Himbo you said? Who else could it be but Pippin (or Merry)? He is the literal personification of a himbo. It doesn’t get better than this. He is absolutely clueless at points, even as he is relatively clever for his being. He just tends to get confused often, but in adorable ways. You could tell him a story and he’d be like “yes, no I completely agree.”, where you answer with; “but Pip, it’s not good.”, and the poor guy will just sit there with wide eyes, having no idea what just happened.

- Canonically, he and Merry are the tallest hobbits, thanks to the water they drank in Fangorn. Would you be a hobbit, in the Tolkien universe, he won’t ever let you forget it. Not necessarily because you are shorter, but because he is taller. He loves to boast about it. He also really likes hiding things up high, just so you can ask him to get them. You know he hides them just so he can do it, but you act oblivious to it, just to see his smile when you mention your book has landed above the chandelier again.

- First day he met you, he cracked that resting bitch face right off. He already seemed entranced by you, marched up in confidence and tripped over his own feet. Tough to not laugh at that. Even though you can’t really help it, he’ll nudge your side occasionally when you are out, silently letting you know you are resting your face again. Not because he doesn’t like it, but because other hobbits tend to get intimated by it. And Pippin loves to show you off. And that can only be done when you are laughing with (or at) him.

okay so to start i should say that i’m kind of an odd reader..? i tend to read multiple books at once (idk why, that’s just how i’ve always been lol) currently i’m in the middle of reading “A Million Little Pieces” and “Interview With The Vampire” i have also recently started reading “Circe” and re-reading “The Great Gatsby” so... yeah. four books “on the go” right now...

my favourite between The Hobbit and LOTR depends on whether we’re talking about the books or the movies lol. books is LOTR due to the fact that there’s just more of them. i love the stories both equally (and also kinda see them as one..?) so which one i prefer only really depends on which has more detail. it’s for this same reason that i favour The Hobbit movies. (one book split into three movies is more detail than three books split into three movies (even though the movies aren’t entirely accurate)) - you said you prefer The Hobbit; pray tell why? -

ever since i was first introduced to The Hobbit (when i was like 5-ish) my favourite character has always been Gandalf. i think it was mainly due to my fascination with his beard, ngl. but my fondness for him has kept over the years and i’m gonna go ahead and say that he’s my favourite in The Hobbit - who’s yours? -

LOTR on the other hand, has a different, more complicated answer. though Gandalf is once again in LOTR as he was in The Hobbit, he isn’t my favourite character. to put it simply, i’d have to say that i don’t have a favourite character in LOTR lol - once again i ask: who’s yours? -

Four?? Okay maybe don't drop them to read Sherlock, wait until you're done with those lmaoo but uh... confession-  Please do Not hate me this... I have never read the LOTR books and I've only read a little bit of The Hobbit- BUT BEFORE YOU GET MAD I have a REALLY good reason why!!! Okay I'm lying I don't have a good reason why.. I have always wanted to read them, but I watched the movies first and I feel in love with everything about them that I just don't feel the same... desire? to read them. If that makes sense. But I am probably gonna read them eventually. The reason why I like The Hobbit more is simple: I saw them first (well, I had watched LOTR before but only bits a pieces when my parents watched it) and fell in love with them. And I had seen The Desolation of Smaug in the cinema and it just blew my mind away (I was 10 years old then and I am still blown away by the movies.) I think the acting, the music, the visuals, all of it was amazing and I might have a slight emotional attachment to them because of the nostalgia of watching them for the first time and really getting into the story and everything about it. My favorite character for The Hobbit is Bilbo. Without a doubt. I think Martin Freeman is a brilliant actor and he was perfect for the character. I also love Fili and Kili and I would die for them in a heartbeat <3 My favorite character in LOTR is so hard to choose because Gandalf of course, but also Sam! and Marry and Pippin!! And Frodo! and Legolas.. and Aragorn.. *sigh* okay I can't choose I'm sorry :,) and noo don't be sorry lmao I adore this. Hopefully I was able to form sentences correctly in my answer lmao

Saw your Judaeu posts; wanted to weigh in a lil cuz I love him. I'm always sad we never got to know much about him (rpg group gets so much backstory!) I always felt like ye, his advice was misguided but that he was trying to help make people happy. Like Casca, who maybe could be happy with Guts if she couldn't have Griffith, since HE never felt good enough for her. Also, that maybe he didn't see a point in hooking Guts and Griffith up if he figured the dream and princess still took priority?

Yeah I think his heart was in the right place, it seems like he genuinely just wanted what was best for everyone even if his methods were a little... underhanded and dishonest. Like towards the end eg, he probably thought Griffith would be better off with him and his thieves than with Guts and Casca as well as vice versa (and if Guts and Casca stayed together while taking care of Griffith he might’ve even been right, bc lbr that would’ve been a shitshow lol.) He’s likeable, and fun, and he has some great moments, like telling Guts he’s sure he’ll find what he’s looking for with the Hawks. Ngl his death scene always makes me cry lol, I do def like him overall, in part because he makes mistakes too.

Also I wonder if there isn’t a subtle indication from Miura that Judeau and Casca should’ve gotten together instead of Guts and Casca, and it’s its own little sub-tragedy based on stupid self-esteem issues that they didn’t. The way during the Eclipse Judeau does his best to save her and defends her with his own life while Guts is up on the hand still trying to “save” Griffith lol feels kind of starkly telling. I don’t ship them myself, I like their friendship and I kind of wish Judeau hadn’t had a crush the whole time lol, but it fits into the whole missed opportunity vibe of the Golden Age.

It is kind of a shame that the Golden Age side characters got way less backstory and development than the current RPG group, but the current group has so much more time. Like 200+ chapters vs 70. I did love the little enriching hints we got about the Hawks though, like Judeau feeling inadequate as a jack of all trades, the hints that Corkus is bitter about his own lost dreams. I’d say ‘etc’ but actually that’s about it really. Wish we got more on Pippin too.

I sometimes question why I like Wicked so much. If I think deeply about it for a while, the plot holes, characterization and arcs infuriate me to no end. Yeah, it did completely change my life and for that I’m grateful. bUT after Willemijn and Jenny leave, I’m probably gonna take a massive step back until another Elphaba fully captures my heart. If it ever happens considering how in love I am with Willemijn’s Elphaba. That being said, if the Jackie Burns rumours are true, Imma stick around until the inevitable Jessica Vosk takeover.

It is responsible for a lot of who I am today. I propagate the fact Wicked made me “realise” I was gay (and trans), plus helped to discover technical theatre which has become a home of sorts.

3. If you could go back in time to see a certain production, which one would it be?—Ohhhhh so many. I mean, definitely Newsies. But also definitely the original cast of Wicked. But also Aaron Tveit in Wicked. But I’d also toooootally go see the cast I saw again with Kara Lindsay too and hopefully get to meet her this time. And Ramin Karimloo and Norm Lewis in their versions of The Phantom of the Opera. And the original cast of Hamilton. And the original Dear Evan Hansen cast. And a production of Jekyll & Hyde. And also Something Rotten! either the original cast or with Adam Pascal. But I’d also totally go see the other shows and casts that I have seen again because they were amazing. Like Les Mis with Ramin Karimloo as ValJean, but I’d make sure I can go to the stage door to meet him (if they come out) because I saw it on a strictly scheduled high school trip so I couldn’t do it then. And I want to see him in Anastasia. But also I’ve been meaning to check out Bonnie and Clyde so I’d go see Jeremy Jordan in that. And also the She Loves Me revival. And also Aladdin. And ngl I’d love to have seen Shrek the Musical live too. This is getting too long, but basically any show I could see (with a few exceptions), I would see it.

7. A musical everyone can learn from.—Hmmm… I mean, “Wicked” if everyone would actually get the message. And probably “Dear Evan Hansen,” idk what all goes on between the songs on the soundtrack though because I haven’t gotten to see it but I really want to.

8. Favorite set design EVER.—aaaaahhh all of them. I’ve seen Les Mis, Wicked, Miss Saigon, School of Rock, A Bronx Tale, and Great Comet in NYC thanks to school trips I’m super grateful for, and my college’s version of Pippin, plus Phantom, Newsies, She Loves Me, Shrek the Musical, and other things recorded, and imo they’re all really awesome. I did love the moving mechanical dragon that was at the top of the Wicked set, and Miss Saigon’s was pretty epic at some parts, but I’m not sure as a whole which set is my favorite. They all have their awesome elements imo. Sorry I’m so indecisive lol.
