The first ever Pokémon game I played was Arceus, so as I’m now playing through Brilliant Diamond (picked specifically because I liked Adaman better than Irida) I’ve been really enjoying all the references I missed before. I found the Spooky Plate and was like, “The tablets were a reference? That’s so cool!” I’ve now also found the Dread Plate and the Fist Plate.
Now, keep in mind that I’ve only played Arceus and Scarlet up until this point. There are certain moves that Pokémon can have that I’m not familiar with. So when I finally caught a Munchlax (beloved child!) and saw that he already had a dark type attack, I naturally gave him the Dread Plate to hold. And that, gentle readers, is how I accidentally let my Munchlax smash the Dread Plate over a Bibarel’s head with Fling. Oops. I could almost hear Volo’s wails of despair. Hope nobody needs the azure flute anytime soon, otherwise they’re going to have to break out the superglue.
The only subjective category. These are Shinies that you’d consider cream of the crop, beautiful, and/or wonder why they’re not the og color scheme to begin with.
Smash Alt Palette Swap
These are Shinies who, if they were in Smash Bros or another fighting game, would be the Alt color you could use.
No Colors Anymore, I Want to Paint it Black
Shinies that are pure black. Like Charizard and Greninja. Ironically not Gothitelle 🤔
Pretty in Pink
Self explanatory, but Shinies that are pure pink. A Gen 2 classic!
Seeing Red
Shinies that are pure red. Lake of Rage anyone?
It isn’t Easy Being Green
Another Gen 2 classic! Shinies that are pure green. I hope they’re not sick…
Feeling Blue
Shinies that are pure blue. Not as cold as they look.
I Can See it in Your Eyes
Shinies that you can only really tell if they’re shiny if they’re eye color is different. Unfortunately like Armarouge and Ceruledge…
*Squints*
Shinies you’d be goddamn lucky you didn’t accidentally skip, faint, or transfer (Go). Even with the shiny mark on its page, you’d still wonder if they’re actually shiny or not.
My Pokémon OCs Samantha Irvine and Katherine "Kat" Geffen standing back to back. Kat's appearance is based off of the blonde Dawn option from Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, and Samantha is based off of her custom appearance in Pokémon Scarlet. Commission by @jisatsu-draw.
