My sweet Pien passed away yesterday. 

Yesterday morning she seemed off and she wouldn't eat her veggies. So I rushed to the vet immediately. The vet said she seemed to have some kind of infection and her body temperature was way too low. The vet warned me that it was very likely Pien would not make it. 

Sadly the vet was right. I tried to keep Pien warm with blankets and bottles of warm water. I gave her some water with a syringe, but she was already too sick.

When I got home around 4.15 pm I reheated a towel and gave her some more water with a syringe. I already noticed when I picked her up she was a bit limp. When I sat with her for some time she started to gasp and she got seizures.

Shortly after she passed away.I let Wies with her for some time. Wies licked her ears a few times and then she walked away. I hope she got to say a proper goodbye as she and Pien were together for over 5 years. I am going to think about if I will get an older guinea pig or two baby pigs as company for Wies.

It always makes me so sad when one of them crosses the rainbow bridge.

Sweet Pien I will miss you dearly. You really were a special guinea pig who loved food, stealing food and being a fluffy pudding. Pien was so cheeky and shy at the same time. Goodbye my orange potato.

Today is Rainbow Bridge Rememberance Day and today and every day I miss, grieve, and am grateful that my beautiful fur children entered my life and enriched it in a way I can never repay. My house panther and familiar, Isis, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Feb 16th 2020 and I was never the same after that. Earlier this year my beautiful Jasmine passed, and prior to her passing, we lost our family cat of 18 years, Mr. Cat. His beautiful bonded partner, Belle, passed just last year. Other babies we have lost and continue to grieve and remember are Streaky, Sushi, and Diamond, each holding a special place in my heart and in my families. Someday I'll be reunited with them. Until then, I'm entrusted to care for my furbabies here at home to give them an enriched and vibrant life. I like to think that the dogs of rainbow bridge, will be lining up to greet the wonderful Paul O’Grady today. Waiting to welcome a beautiful man who did so much good for their kind. I like to think he will be rolling around with dogs he lost, dogs he saved and dogs who simply heard of his kindness. Covered in fluff, smothered in kisses and loved, loved loved.

Thank you for making us laugh till we cried and for making a true difference this side. You will be missed, never forgotten and always loved.

This past week has been incredibly difficult and entirely unexpected. Chad and I took our snake Apollo, and our cat CJ to the vet because we were worried about their condition and appetite, completely unrelated to each other. We were faced with Apollo's diagnosis rather quickly and knew that we wouldn't have much longer with him. With CJ, we thought he could get better with meds and fluids and food, but he declined quickly. We had to make the tragic but ultimately merciful decision to help them cross the rainbow bridge today. Our lives are going to be so different without these two. Our days revolved around our pets and their routines. But our lives are also better for having them at all. They will be desperately missed! When it's already so sad to experience this with 1 pet...having to go through this with 2 (out of 3) pets at the same time has been so tragic.
