Respawn and Relive
@thenightwolf51 who tagged me in this months ago, but I didn't know enough about Respawn to write something. I didn't forget! I just still haven't found much on him, so sorry if I get his character wrong.
They don't give him a name.
It's one of the first things he notices they do to dehumanize him. It's not like they see clones as humans- he's just a science experiment meant to keep the legacy of the League of Assassins alive, even at the cost of his life.
He is just there to be trained to follow commands, and if needed, he is spare parts for the Real Son. He is made from part of the same DNA as the Real Son, but that hardly matters to what should be his mother, as she does not feel anything for his biological father and thus feels nothing for the being created from the two DNAs.
He is the clone created by Slade Wilson- alias Deathstroke- and Talia al Ghul. She may not had a hand in his creation, as that was done by her father, but she had no issues using him.
Torment him. Rip him apart and put it back together just to see what happens.
She looks at him with the same gaze she would a sword. Valuating his worth by how well he can do in training, how healthy his organs are, and how he should be nothing but a loyal dog.
But he isn't. Not really.
If this was all he knew, maybe he would be the weapon they wanted, but he knows more. Remembers more. Yes, he doesn't have all his memories, but he has flashes- glimpses- of the life he had before the Leauge.
They would disapprove of the memories, which makes them all the more precious.
He can still clearly remember his mother- his real mother- a brilliant mind, his father's warm, solid hugs, and his sister's gentle eyes. He can recall his home's layout even if he can not remember the street or how far it was from his school. He can identify his two best friends' faces even if their names slip through his fingers like falling sand.
He also remembers his first name and the initials of his last.
Danny F.
He thinks he died before, waking up as the clone. He remembers standing inside a metallic cave- or a large hole in a machine?- and being electrocuted. He remembers the screams, the flashes of light, the pain, and even a glimpse of his best friends' horrified faces but not much else.
The next clear memory is looking in a mirror to see white hair and green eyes. The same combination he now sports as the Leguage's weapon and spare organ farm.
The memories after that are filled with harsh training, even more, brutal torture, and the reintegration that should his half-brother ever need them, he would give up his organs for the Real Son.
He is, after all, Damian Wayne's gift. He was created to harvest his super healing for the boy's body parts. Danny thinks he hates him, but he's not sure he can remember what hate is supposed to feel like.
He does remember what love is supposed to feel like.
Sometimes, when all he can do is lay in his cell, body aching as they test his healing factor beyond its limits- they cut off his left arm once, just to watch the tissue slowly regrow- he lets himself drown in his old memories, in the few dream-like sequences.
Some make sense, others don't. For some, he's a black-haired blue-eyed boy, and for others, he has white hair and green eyes.
Danny is sitting in class, eagerly taking notes on a topic he has been having trouble with-
-He's playing fetch with a small green dog, throwing snowballs into the air, flying after the excited creature-
-Danny is playing video games with a goth girl and a nerdy boy, laughing so hard he can't see the buttons on the control correctly-
-He's flaying alongside his sister, aiming his outstretched arm at a figure in the sky, shooting a green ray at the same time she does down below in her mechanical armor-
-Danny is helping his mother mix the dough for the cookies. He is swaying his hips to the song she has on the speaker. She's in her teal jumpsuit, having come up from the lab to do mother/son cookies as they do every Thanksgiving-
-He's testing the latest blaster with his father. They wanted to see if the auto-aiming feature was interfering with his flying. He flickers the white bangs out of his eyes as his father cheers from the roof while he takes aim-
Yes, Danny knows what love is supposed to feel like, even if he can't remember all the details, even if his full name evades him. He will escape the Leauage of Assiagins and find that feeling again.
Maybe he'll track down his biological father. Deathstroke does not know a clone was created by him, so maybe he will be willing to take him in.
It takes months, but eventually, they tell him Damian Wayne needs a kidney. Why? They don't say, but Talia knows her Beloved will donate his own, and she won't stand for it. She orders him to fulfill his duty as guards drag him to the operation table.
He grits his teeth as they strap him down and prep for surgery. Thankfully, they don't apply any anesthetics- they don't deem him worthy of a painless operation- so he has a clear head for escape.
The surgery has a thirty-window opening with no guards around. He waits until they are about to begin when he taps into the powers his memories tell him. He makes his limbs intangible, slipping through the restraints with great effort.
The medics only have a few seconds to be shocked before he is upon them. They lay in a pool of blood- not dead. His chest flares up in pain if he kills, so he tries to avoid it as much as his environment allows- as he flies through the walls. He has been planning here, so he knows what to do. Turning invisible, he passes under a helicopter scheduled for a month supply run.
By doing so, he does not appear on any radars using the large cargo as camouflage. Danny drops into the ocean as the alarms go off on that wrenched island, allowing his whole body to turn tangible. This way, the water does not slow him down as he flies deeper and deeper down, praying that they won't be able to track him the further he goes. When he gets to the part where everything is too dark to see- he picks a direction from where he came and hits top speed.
Traveling three hundred miles an hour, Danny escapes the League of Assians with all his organs intact, so take that Damian Wayne.
He has no real destination in mind but maybe, he can find the little town of his memories or maybe he'll find Deathstroke.
Maybe he will discover what the F. in his name stands for.
For now, he'll work under the name Respawn because that's a name he picked out for himself, and he'll do what he wants. He's no one's tool any longer.
(Miles away Tim Drake squints at the small dot darting from Nanda Parbat on his spying map. He's not sure what kind of misle Ra's just shot, but it's traveling fast, and he feels like he needs to phone this in.
"Hey B, we may have an issue." )

had a dream that toby fox made a minecraft. mod? dlc? something for undertale and he went so crazy on it people started preferring it over actual minecraft
there was super unsettling lore stuff and areas you could just stumble into, the in-game menus occasionally offered options where you could alter reality at the cost of losing some of your character's humanity, game mechanics that seemed to reflect your choices to alter or leave the world alone, weird shit like that

QSMP Awards 2024 Summarized
-The audio was scuffed for the first half. I don't mean a little crispy. I don't mean with a slight echo. It was fucked in every way imaginable. The audio sounded like it was going through a blender. Then it kept getting too loud, then too quiet (so much so we couldn't hear), all while being way too crispy. Charlie Slimecicle monologued to the audience while the team was trying to fix it but since the audio was both too crispy and too quiet we couldn't actually understand anything he was saying. This carried on for about 7 minutes with him holding two microphones, neither of which was working, before the stream crashed (again)
-All the staff are apparently Cucurucho, with one of them being a "main Cucurucho"
-Missa wore a "Quackity my beloved" shirt. I could not explain to you what the blazer over it was supposed to be.
-Everyone else at the ceremony was shown through discord call. I'm convinced Charlie has never seen German or Lenay's faces cause he did not know it was them until Quackity said their names
-The screen was supposed to switch between showing all the people on the discord and it kept switching between the same four people. If I have to hear Q, Charlie and Missa chant "Foolish" or "Pol" ever again-
-Mariana showed up and Charlie immediately went into bitter ex mode. He also hit on Mariana. Multiple times.
-We got a patented Ironmouse "coño" and chat lost their shit over Luzu existing, as expected
-Mariana looked like Michael Jackson, Bad's background could've been the set of Breaking Bad, Roier had a ski mask, lots of people learned what Lenay, German and Vegetta's looked like for the first time, and Mike had a kawaii filter
-Somehow Bad didn't even get nominated for Best Cucurucho Jumpscare, showing that even non-red carpet events can produce award snubs (congrats to Bagi!)
-Though I yearned for Maximus getting nominated for his Eh Vegetta prank, we all knew the win had to go to Vegetta for the mines
-The audio eventually became bearable but the echo never fully left. At some point there were like three or four overlaps of Vegetta giving his acceptance speech
-Acau won for Best Death from getting killed by an enderman (in my heart Foolish's accidental death by Pomme's sniper that got him eliminated from the elections won, but we did get Quackity dying to a fly as a nom so I feel complete. Also congrats to Acau!)
-The Qsmp shop is officially open! We got eggie merch :]
-Quackity forgot to roll clips for the Best Purgatory 2 Moment nominees and almost read out the winner before we got the montage (Wuant won! It was the clip of him being told he lost and he accidentally did a flip. They weren't able to get the acceptance speech on stream so we saw it from Quackity's phone)
-Funniest QSMP Moment nominees were all fucking hilarious, its hard to pick just one but Maxo winning for when he respawned after a lore-heavy moment in Pierre's bed to his own moans being remixed into a song absolutely deserved the win
-Saddest QSMP Moment was unnecessary and the admins will be hearing from my lawyers for making me relive Dapper's first lost life, Dia de los Muertos and the end of Purgatory 1 (Jaiden and Roier saying bye to Bobby won, Roier changed his screen to black and white and held up what looked like a mini Cucurucho being used as a cross)
-Best QSMP Original Song was played prematurely when the category was Best Language Exchange, and we got a spoiler for the winner (YD and Hugo's exchange won and YD's audio was muted so we just saw her Vtuber model getting excited)
-The aforementioned Best Qsmp Original Song had Gordinho Gostosinho looping aggressively over Charlie singing the Juanaflippa song, which I hope to god gets clipped cause it was hilarious (I'm glad the Roier and Cucurucho rap got nominated). Charlie was very confused why they had him announce his own win.
-Best PVP unsurprisingly went to Etoiles for his colosseum Code fight, after all he is the Best🔥 (the other noms were great too, we had Philza vs Tubbo in Purgatory, Bad and Maxo eliminating El Quackity from the elections, and a cute sparring session between Pac and Richas)
-Best Qsmp Fails went to Fit for that time Pac's internet cut out during their date (of course he bragged about his Brasilian boyfriend after learning he won for best loser)(also if it was up to me Quackity's fly deaths would've been added to this category just sayin')
-The audio problems were revealed to have been roleplay the entire time. Yep. All part of the lore.
-Speaking of, most of the winners who were in the discord call could not be heard so they had to give speeches through Quackity holding his phone up to the mic
-Best Roleplayer went to Roier for his Doied arc (the screen prematurely showed him before they could read the announcement, and his speech was him kissing the camera)
-Worst Server House went to Mariana accompanied with the classic clip of him reacting to the admins roasting his started base; Mariana was part of the discord call but left at some point so he couldn't give a speech, to which Charlie jumped on the opportunity to roast his absence like a shark smelling blood (they rightfully nominated Quackity for his clip of Acau reacting to his failure of a starter house, and apparently Carre's base is just his bed on a dirt plot)
-Most Iconic Clip went to Pac for stealing the Qsmp Logo (the other lovely noms included Foolish and co. accidentally closing their house door after a creeper came in an attempt to shut it out, and Tina reacting to a mob giving Felps a blowjob)
-The Most Bankrupt Islander went to Niki for being broke, we stan (during the nom montage we got a passa tudo mention)
-The Creator Who Spent the Most Time on the Server Award went to Bad, which was shocking to no one, although they did use his Barbie Girl clip for the nom montage (they also used Fit wearing a wig for his clip)
-The Qsmp cake for the one year anniversary had the text "FELICIDADES ALBERTO". We do not know who Alberto is. Pol was losing it.
-Tubbo won for The Creator With the Most Deaths (106), while The Creator With Fewest Deaths went to Philza (he only had 1!). Philza was able to be heard through stream but the hosts didn't know this so they would hear him from Quackity's phone and repeat what he was saying even though we could hear him
-Everytime the camera cut back to the hosts Charlie, Quackity and Missa had more cake on their faces
-Most Distance Traveled (in Minecraft) went to Etoiles (6,000+ km jfc)
-Creator With the Most Mob Kills went to Pierre (162,960 mob kills. what the fuck.)
-They accidentally read the award for Creator With the Most Damage Taken (Foolish) during the Best Builder announcement, confusing the shit out of everyone, especially cause the screen showed Mike instead of Foolish. I am still unclear who won Best Builder
-Creator With the Most Blocks Placed went to Mike!!! (MIKE WIN VAMBORAAAAAAAAAAA🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷)
-We had to uncomfortably sit through Missa feeding Charlie cake (and just Charlie in general)
-There was an In Memorium segment of the passed eggs (Quackity shat on a grieiving Charlie for Flippa only lasting 11 days, but in Charlie's words, "to you it was 11 days; to her it was a lifetime"). Charlie commentated and had nothing to say about Trump because he didn't know jack shit about Trump (though he did make a wall joke which is exactly what Maxo would have wanted godbless🙏)
-The stream ended with the discord people saying goodbye, while Roier was holding up the mini Cucuruchos and didn't move the entire time. I know he wasn't frozen because he blinked.
-Maxo sent in his acceptance speech video last minute and Quackity hyped it up as a mysterious final entry but Charlie guessed it was Maxo and spoiled it on accident
-Speaking of, Maxo's entry was him walking around heaven looking for Trump </3
-Charlie gave a heartfelt speech about the people he met through the Qsmp, all while looking like ate out frosty the snowman <3. Missa simpy thanked Alberto (we still do not know who Alberto is)
-Tubbo wasn't present in the discord call because he thought him streaming meant he couldn't join. After the stream Quackity called and Tubbo realized he was allowed to join the whole time
-We ended on a montage of various moments, with a message of excitement looking forward to the next year!
And of course, here are the screenies I managed to nab of the hosts slowly deteriorating into cake

Emesis Blue Medic Headcanon
So I’m 99% sure that Spy’s Disguise takes place before the nightmare sequence known as Emesis Blue, sometime during the height of the respawn failures.
[I’m going to talk about DID. I’m not an expert, and this post about a fictional character should never be used to self diagnose.]
The Bloody RED Engineer sabotaged the respawn machine, which led to his entire team dying for real; then he murdered a group of [supposedly] unrelated BLU engineers, who also died for real.
It’s the reason why Dr Ludwig is even in the area to work on the comatose CyberSpy.
Tumblr media
If Emesis Blue is a dream/nightmare people’s jobs may not match with real life, but still tell us something important about them. Soldier being Spy’s assistant tells us that he likes to work in a group rather than alone, even if his teammate is a jerk.
Ludwig being the Chief Medical Advisor could imply that he was the go-to expert at the height of the respawn failures, who had to investigate and report on different accidents when he wasn’t attempting to save a patient from said failures. Whether it was killing him slowly or not, Blu wouldn’t care; not the Administrator or Jules Archibald, at the least.
Tumblr media
Jules is shown to be callous about death in both Spy and Soldier’s nightmares, and someone who relies on other people to protect him and do his dirty work to the point he’s incapable of defending himself. I wouldn’t be surprised if he and his crew forced Medic to report on all the gory details of each respawn failure, while being unwilling to attempt to rescue patients or clean up the carnage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Re-watching the early scenes with Scout it seems that the era of the respawn errors is long gone, and the details are highly classified. Which would explain why Scout is so uninformed about any of the other accidents, but Ludwig had a nightmare that his friend suffered one himself.
Medic’s body language at the Medical office and in the ambulance makes it feel like the doctor wouldn’t be answering all these questions if he wasn’t talking to a friend. Like it hurts to relive that trauma, and the answers he gives are vague. Makes sense if Jules and the team trying to fix the Respawn machine bombarded Medic with questions over and over again, forcing him to picture what happened, no matter how awful it was.
Keeping that in mind:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What if the Funeral Medic is in control of Ludwig’s body when we see him in Spy’s disguise?
Neither of them talk or blink, for one thing. He does wince and cross himself upon rewatching CyberSpy’s robot-seizure, but that’s instinct. Another thing I noticed;
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something is going on with his eyes. This was his reaction to CyberSpy’s neck cracking, and the eyes stay like that.
Tumblr media
It’s almost as if somebody trained himself not to blink, so he’d make people uncomfortable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[nods once, flares nostrils in irritation]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s starting to feel like the Funeral Medic is meant to put people off of approaching Ludwig. If that is the case, we have proof that it works despite looking like Fritz, not his scarier version from Emesis Blue. I also noticed he really doesn’t like CyberSpy and Buddy Engineer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He’s like “The revolver… exists! But you two just had to keep using that broken disguise kit anyway.”
Normally these Respawn Failures are completely accidental, and the patients are innocent [in that context, anyways]. So for two people to cheat by using body modification, and drive an enemy teammate to insanity? Any deeper coldness and anger reserved for Archibald and his cronies would emerge.
Tumblr media
And he had to set up a camera before touching the patient… I really think this personality is mute. People with DID have been studied, and their brain structure is different between personalities. Their pets can tell the difference, and some personalities have physical ailments that the rest of the system doesn’t. So it isn’t impossible for one of Medic’s alters to be mute or selectively mute.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ludwig’s nightmare version of this alter is associated with the respawn deaths in his mind too. He must have been switching during the investigations, with Funeral Medic performing surgeries and dealing with Jules. But for a time there would have been a lot of casualties, and Fritz may believe that this personality was intentionally letting patients die.
Tumblr media
Could contribute to the nightmare imagery of being helpless with this personality around.
The fact that the real alternate personality and the nightmare version move so fluidly could be showing us another important detail.
Tumblr media
Funeral Medic has exceptional aim and reaction times. Probably in order to react to injuries caused by the respawn machine, and to perform the needed treatments as effectively and precisely as possible. That’s why he moves like that.
Tumblr media
My theory is that Electric-Eye Medic is a protector personality that comes out during RED v BLU matches when someone keeps targeting Fritz and needs to be put in their place. And most other situations now that the respawn failures aren’t happening like before. It’s why he’s the first other personality to take control, and keeps showing up.
Tumblr media
And Funeral Medic is a gatekeeper personality who used to take control to prevent Ludwig from getting more trauma from Respawn Failures and patient deaths. Normally he stays inside the mind and keeps other people’s trauma from resurfacing, but the events of Emesis Blue were so serious that he needed to front.
It’s why he only shows up at the end.
When someone has DID, communicating with their alternate personalities and understanding what they’re trying to do is key. But Dr Ludwig wasn’t diagnosed with DID [or multiple personality disorder], he was diagnosed with Schizophrenia. And he’s Catholic, so he’s really likely to mistake Funeral Medic for a demon.
It’s one of the reasons why I want Emesis Blue to be a nightmare; so Ludwig and his personalities can talk/write things out and deal with their inner conflict. They need to, and I think he deserves a happy ending.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If RED Medic has his stolen wedding doves, it’d fit BLU to have an emotional support animal.

Why do people shift back here after shifting?
where do i beginnnn
some people aren't ready to let go of their cr yet
some people enjoy their cr
some people shift only to experience certain things and once they get to experience them they shift back to their cr
some people shift back here to revisit their old cr and reminisce
some people think that their cr is their 'true' reality
some people think that they have to fufill something in their cr before they can permashift // respawn
some people haven't made their dr/s 'good enough' to shift to
some people like to suffer
some people haven't found the place // person they call home so they come back here till they figure it out
some people are indescisive
some people use shifting as a way to appreciate their cr more
some people have had bad experiences with shifting
some people cannot handle their dr/s so they shift back here for comfort
some people just don't know
some people shift back here to share their knowledge and motivate others who are struggling to shift
some people use their cr as their wr
some people shift back here to relive memories
and there are many, many, more reasons. we'll be here for a while if we're counting all of them ^^

Okay, I was going to explain a possible path for a worm of the string au with Sparrow complaining one day that the puppet can't leave the chamber to relive the fever of being in one place and that her thesis being rejected and then Caper reading the thesis and iterating that idea and then he somehow manages to get off the string.
But getting off the umbilical without reason or explanation is more funny!
Imagine if that starts happening to the others iterators?
Tumblr media
Pls tell me his face is priceless! More so if it is a red lizard (do train lizard exist in your au?)
Also, how would Notos and Haboob react to Sparrow?
Now, you mentioned that when Sparrow killed the red centipede she was not in the respawning cycle. What is the age that the Ancients enter the cycle?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
staring like a deer caught in headlights GSDLKMCLK this man should either have internal bleeding from a Red Liz bite or bad damage in the coconut and Yet he's 👌 how puzzling n yah! train/hurricane lizards Are real in the Serotonin Take!
as for Notos n Haboob, assuming it's in the off string post-ascension thing too:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
they'd like each other! :D
and the respawn cycle is entered once the etheric body is finished growing which is around like.... 20-23 years old

A whole bunch of aimless vibes based pattern matching.
-Isami nearly dies to the laser in Episode 1. The first thing he sees when he opens his eyes is Bravern.
-Isami is disoriented after being waterboarded in Episode 2. The first thing he sees is Smith, who is holding Isami's head in both hands.
-Isami is injured and nearly passes out (possibly almost dies?) when fighting Pessimism and Vanitas in Episode 9. A drop of his blood lands in Bravern's cockpit. The first thing he sees when he regains consciousness is Lulu.
-Lulu revives from being apparently dead. The first thing she sees is Smith, and she immediately becomes aggressive.
-The first person Smith-Bravern sees after being "reborn" is Isami, obviously.
-Smith's blood was seemingly also all over the Orthus' cockpit when he died, unless those were just burn marks. Yikes.
-After Smith restrains the aggressive Lulu, she closes her eyes. When she opens them again, she seems completely different. Again, the first thing she sees after this is Smith.
-The first thing she says when she sees him is "Lulu," despite all other sounds she has said up to that point being either "Ga" or "Pi." She puts her hands on both sides of his face.
-Isami declares "I will never die!" during the boxing match
-Smith becomes Bravern because he isn't satisfied with his death
Conclusion: None lol. I'm just thinking
-Cunus claims she has rewound time multiple times to "relive her tryst" with Smith.
-Superbia is defeated in episode 2. He doesn't remember Bravern's name in episode 6, and is shocked that Bravern knows his. This could easily be a gag (i.e., they were not actually communicating during the first fight due to language barrier, and Bravern only knows his name from the time loop), but some people have interpreted this as memory loss.
-Cupiridas seemed to retain his memories after respawning, so that's not something that automatically happens to Death Drives when they die.
-Lulu is going to pilot Superbia?

Please lose the last shreds of your self control and yell about bd-1's arc and its place thematically in fallen order
Ahh I was not expecting anyone to want the rant but SINCE YOU ASKED
So I absolutely love JFO and everything about it, because at its core it’s a story about hope and healing when everything has fallen to pieces. I can’t get enough of that. I’m going to do my best to keep this post to a reasonable length, but I am going to be honest: brevity is not my strong suit when it comes to stuff I like. You have been warned.
Here’s the thing about BD-1: he didn’t need an arc. They didn’t need to thread him through the thematic and emotional heart of this game as much as they did!! That’s part of why his arc took me so much by surprise. He basically has a stealth arc, and it works so well because he’s already serving the game really well before I even got an inkling of it. So first I’m gonna go through BD-1 as I experienced him in my first playthrough, and then look at the ways that JFO retroactively adds a TON of meaning to his interactions with Cal.
Long post and many spoilers for Jedi: Fallen Order under the cut:
Bogano: First Impressions
BD-1 is a cute lil droid companion, and frankly Respawn could have stopped there and I would have been entirely on board. I mean, look at him.
Tumblr media
He’s adorable.
Respawn didn’t stop there though! BD also serves to make several game mechanics diegetic in a really cool way. He provides the map, he does the healing, and he analyses stuff for the codex. Again: Respawn did not need to go as hard as they did. Cute Droid That Serves Gameplay Purpose would have been more than enough to sell me on BD-1. But! They not only used BD-1 to make those mechanics fit inside the narrative of the game, they used the gameplay mechanics to inform BD’s character!!!!
Excuse me while I take a moment to be incredibly excited about good game design.
So we first meet BD-1 on Bogano, just after the prologue/tutorial level for the game. We met Cal on Bracca, got introduced to our initial exploration and fighting mechanics, and played through JFO’s inciting incident. Cere and Greez drop Cal off on Bogano and give him two goals: meet someone important, and find the key to rebuilding the Jedi order.
We’re now introduced to the Meditation mechanic (Star Wars Brand Bonfires). It’s yet another example of how Respawn took a mechanic specific to the genre of game they were making and then turned it into a core part of the narrative.
I love this game so much.
It’s already been established that Cal’s trauma is hindering his ability to connect to the force—whenever he tries, he relives his memories of Order 66. After we finish the Meditation Tutorial, we exit to a cutscene that reinforces that character beat:
youtube
And introduces someone new.
I know I talked a lot about Cal here, but that’s because BD-1’s characterisation is intrinsically linked to his interactions with Cal—he’s a Companion Character. It’s important that we first meet BD here. The first time we meet BD, Cal is in pain and BD-1 wants to help.
(I love him)
Throughout the game, we understand BD’s dialogue through other character’s responses—mostly Cal’s. In this scene, BD introduces himself and then asks Cal if he’s OK. Awww. Cal says he’s looking for someone, and BD-1 perks up and responds. “No, not you,” says Cal immediately. He’s looking for a Jedi! We’ve definitely never seen this play out before. BD-1 is not discouraged. He knows about a Jedi! He is Very Excited to lead Cal where he needs to go.
We learn a lot about BD from this scene! First: he’s adorable. I know I’ve said that a lot, but it bears repeating.
Tumblr media
look at him
In terms of characterisation, we learn that BD-1 is helpful, important to Cal’s quest somehow, and apparently full of love and enthusiasm. He wants to know if Cal is ok!!! And he wants to help!!! BD stands both for Buddy Droid and for Best Droid. This scene has done its job well: the story has progressed, and presumably there remains not a single member of the audience who hasn’t instantly fallen in love with the Loveable Droid Character. This is good, because he’s going to be with us for the rest of the game.
Now we get to mechanics. First, we’re introduced to the map. Cal sees the Vault in the distance, and says that whoever he’s looking for must be waiting there. BD-1 stops frolicking to show Cal his map of the area, and the game takes a moment to do a tutorial. BD has helpfully put an objective marker over the vault! Thanks, lil guy. The holomap also highlights unexplored areas—more standard game fare, but because the map is diegetic, it’s also technically information about BD-1. He wants to help us explore!
The next thing we learn about BD-1 is that apparently he, uh. Likes to improvise. “Any ideas?” asks Cal. “We’ve got to get across this gap somehow.” BD-1 proposes that he serves as a tool to help Cal zipline across gaps. Both of them seem to have fun ziplining.
“How’d you know that would work?”
“Bee bo-boop!”
“Wait, you didn’t?”
Don’t sound so concerned, Cal. Nobody fell into any bottomless chasms. You don’t have any room to talk, anyway. I saw you on Bracca.
We run around a little more, and then the unthinkable happens. BD-1 rushes to the defense of a lil critter that’s about to get eaten by a predator, and gets his leg chomped for his troubles. He does a heartbreaking little limp away from danger while Cal practices his lightsaber skills
Tumblr media
poor baby
Words cannot do this scene justice so I'll just give you a video:
youtube
This scene reinforces how adorable BD-1 is (very adorable, in case anybody wasn’t sure) and continues to set up his friendship with Cal. It also serves to set up an in-game way for the devs to control access to certain areas of the map—BD’s busted scomp link is going to stop us from opening a few doors until we’ve hit a few more story beats.
This scene is also one of the most important in BD-1’s arc, but that doesn’t become apparent until later.
Shortly after this, Cal happens to receive some injuries that nobody could have possibly forseen or prevented by not swinging lightsabers at live wires. We get one of the most adorable cutscenes in the game:
youtube
And then BD-1 presents Cal with the Star Wars Brand Estus Flask and joins Cal as a permanent companion.
(he's so cute)
Cal asks BD-1 how he got to Bogano, and BD-1 says he doesn’t remember. Weird for a droid to be forgetful, but oh well. To the Vault!
Ok but first we need to get some cosmetic loot, because the real goal of Jedi: Fallen Order is to collect ponchos.
Tumblr media
BD-1 goes rifling through chests for us, because the devs at Respawn saw an opportunity for adorable character moments and grabbed it with both hands. Over the course of the game, BD-1 continues to fling himself at the nearest poncho receptacle. Cal in response takes a journey from confused through resigned and lands on indulgent. I love this game so much.
Ok, now to the Vault!
Wait wait wait BD-1 has found something cool and he really really wants to show it to you.
Tumblr media
Now for real to the Vault.
There’s some more story stuff that happens before we get there, but that’s the bulk of our initial introduction to BD-1. We make a friend and learn a bunch of new mechanics, which themselves teach us about our friend. BD-1 is a friendly little droid who wants to help and likes to explore and learn things. He’s a bit of an adrenaline junkie and gets excited when there’s something to scan. He doesn’t like it when Cal gets hurt, and for some reason wants to go to the same Plot Location that Cal does.
He’s probably not the person Cere wants us to meet, though. That’s a Jedi! A great warrior. For sure.
(I think I’m funny)
At the vault, we learn that BD-1 is, in fact, the person Cere wants us to meet. In fairness to Cal, though, there is also technically a Jedi. Technically.
BD-1 contains encrypted messages from Jedi Master Eno Cordova, who has hidden the holocron we’re looking for. In order to find it, he wants us to follow in his footsteps. Thus follows one of my favourite scenes for Cal, but this post is already going to be too long so I’ll spare anyone who’s made it this far that particular ramble. Cal and BD-1 officially team up, find some more clues, access a couple of Master Cordova’s video diaries, and head back to the ship.
I will now proceed to exercise incredible restraint and move on to the next section rather than giving you a play-by-play of BD-1’s every move for the rest of the game. I would say 'you’re welcome', but you’re missing out on BD-1, so.
The Burgeoning Friendship
I want to emphasise how constantly present BD-1 is in JFO’s story. Not only is he literally present on Cal’s back for the vast majority of the game, but he’s also constantly interacting with both Cal and the player.
For one, there’s all those mechanics I mentioned earlier. Every time we look at the map, heal damage, or find something new, JFO is drawing our attention to BD-1. Granted, some actions are less obvious than others—we don’t pause in the middle of any given battle to show a long ‘BD-1 gives Cal a healing stim’ animation, and rightfully so—but when we’re just running around the map, BD-1 manages to feel like a character in his own right. He gets excited when Cal finds more healing stims (or literally any box for him to jump into), he runs around to show us things, he’s got his own adorable little idle fidget animations, the whole shebang. Mechanically he pretty much ends up functioning as a secondary player character.
Tumblr media
Teamwork!
There’s also a bunch of incidental dialogue between Cal and BD as we run around. Cal likes to comment on what’s going on—be it a new force echo, a distant objective, or even just his thoughts and feelings about whatever is happening at the time. It’s a good way to keep an audience in touch with a character, but it can feel a bit weird to have a character start talking to the air about whatever it is the devs/writers want the player to know right now. Enter BD-1! Now Cal is talking to the cute robot buddy, which is incredibly relatable.
Tumblr media
I, too, would tell this little guy all of my deepest darkest secrets.
BD-1’s trustworthy face aside, it’s also a good design choice! Now not only do we have a way to naturally insert whatever information Cal needs to deliver at any given time, we can turn that information into character beats for both parties. Cal and BD respond to each other, and so both of them feel more like independent characters who are present in and reacting to their circumstances. It helps keep us immersed in the narrative even when we’ve temporarily left the narrative behind to attempt the same jumping puzzle 15 times in our endless quest for ponchos.
My compulsion to give Cal as many ponchos as his little heart desires aside, Cal and BD’s conversations are really effective at keeping the player involved in what Cal is feeling. Some of my favourite moments are when BD-1 checks in with Cal while they explore the crashed Venator (ow), or when the two of them find Cordova’s old workshop. There’s definitely more, but I’ll be honest I have neither the time nor the energy to play or watch through the entire game to find it. If you’re reading this, though: you absolutely should. It’s such a good game.
Where was I?
Right! Narrative!
I’ve spoken about gameplay, but we really see BD-1’s narrative presence in cutscenes. He’s constantly involved in every story beat, even if sometimes he gets a little distracted.
Tumblr media
He's very worried about your salt intake, Greez
BD-1 cares about our quest and about our characters. He has fun hijacking an AT-AT, and intervenes to help Cal when a fight is getting a bit dicey
Tumblr media
To outline the full extent of BD-1’s involvement in the narrative would be to outline the whole narrative, and I swear I am trying to keep this post to a somewhat readable length, so I won’t do that. But I want to highlight these moments. They’re moments that get us attached to our characters, and moments that build the story. They draw us in to the relationship between Cal and BD-1, and also in a sense build a relationship between BD-1 and the player. I know that when I play JFO, I’ll often talk to BD-1 myself. If he hops off of Cal’s shoulder to look at something, I get excited too. NG+ removing all of the chests may make completing every corner of the game more convenient, but sometimes I’ll start again from scratch just to let BD have his fun. One of the benefits of games as a narrative medium is how involved the player is in the story—even at its most linear, the player is still an active participant. Another benefit to a game like JFO is the length. More is not always better, but in this case Respawn uses the player’s time well. No matter what we’re doing, we’re interacting with the world and the characters—and time spent interacting is time spent building a connection.
All this is to say that by the time we take our little detour via bounty hunter coliseum, I am right there with Cal panicking about our little friend
Tumblr media
Those monsters
Dathomir and Ilum: The Payoff
This section is going to be hard for me to write coherently, mainly because whenever I think about this part of the game my brain stops forming words and instead descends into incoherent screeching interspersed with playbacks of various moments. I have to take a minute before I even go to Dathomir because I know what’s coming. I love this game so much and this sequence wrecks me every time.
I’ll do my best though!
Cal and BD have been through a lot together by this point. They’ve joined a rebellion, fought Inquisitors and delved into ancient ruins. They’ve been hunted by the Empire and by bounty hunters. We’ve done all that with them, too. As we go to Dathomir, Cal is wrestling with a lot of things. He’s back to the level he was at before the Purge, but he’s still hurting and traumatised.
I could talk at length about Dathomir, but this is a post about BD-1 and I am ostensibly trying to keep this somewhat concise.
(laughs in over 2500 words so far)
It is on Dathomir that things come to a head. Cal has a flashback of the events of the Purge, then faces a vision of his dead Master Tapal. When he comes to, his lightsaber—the one passed on to him by Jaro Tapal as he died—is broken. He is forced to flee Dathomir, and returns to Cere and Greez on the Mantis.
It’s a heartbreaking sequence. The player is right there with him throughout—we are high-fiving the trooper who teases Cal. We are navigating the vents of the Venator as clone troopers hunt us down. We are watching Jaro Tapal die defending Cal, and then we are fighting a vision who verbalises what Cal has been feeling this whole time—he has failed. His master died because he was weak and slow and useless. He can’t save the Jedi Order. He isn’t fit to wield his Master’s saber, and he isn’t fit to be a Jedi.
BD-1 is not there for any of it.
BD-1 has been with us for practically the entire game. In every cutscene I can remember, he’s been involved. He’s been running around doing his thing, or peeking over Cal’s shoulder. In this sequence, he is not present. He’s not there in the flashback, and he’s not there when we fight Jaro Tapal. He is present when the vision ends—but not really. He’s positioned so that we can barely see him behind Cal’s head.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cal goes through all this alone.
(I will note that having now watched the scene a few times with special focus on BD-1, it does look as if he’s watching the rest of the room? Which gives me the impression that he’s tried to get through to Cal, realised he’s not responsive, and decided to watch his back while he deals with his Trauma-Based Force Stuff. Which. Ow. That’s so cute but he must have been so worried.)
It’s not until after Cal starts to leave that we check back in with BD-1. He sounds wrecked. And BD-1 can’t help.
Tumblr media
The saddest wooo
We now proceed through a conversation with Cere and also, incidentally, several tissues.
Ow.
But! There’s hope! New goal: Get Cal a new kyber crystal to replace the broken one, then everything will be fixed and we’ll be ok.
Tumblr media
:(
After some more troubles, because poor Cal can’t catch a break, we finally get to the crystal. Cal seems upsettingly close to freezing to death, but we’ve made it!
And then the crystal breaks.
Cal gives up.
Like, it’s-open-for-interpretation-but-I’m-pretty-sure-he’s-just-decided-to-lie-there-until-he-dies gives up.
Tumblr media
not pictured: my distressed yelling
And then: Eno Cordova speaks, and BD-1 enters the frame. “Failure is not the end, my friend.” It’s Cordova’s words, but BD-1 is playing the recording. BD-1 is encouraging Cal. Cal doesn’t really believe him.
So BD-1 shows Cal Master Eno Cordova’s final recording:
youtube
Look, I am trying my best to be something resembling coherent here but. SCREAMS.
S C R E A M S
I could talk at length about how much I love this whole scene but I have been basically just recounting for a while now so I will be brief.
This scene completely reframes BD-1 as a character. He was already more than just a cute mechanics delivery system, but in this scene we learn that he chose to have his memories erased, and also that he chooses to believe in Cal. His faith in Cal gives Cal faith in himself, so he gets up and keeps fighting.
Now please excuse me while I cry a little more.
The First Meeting Again: What Makes Us Who We Are
One thing I really want to highlight from the above scene is that line from Eno Cordova:
“Only with a trusted connection will your memories be restored.”
I know it’s already pretty thoroughly emphasised by the game itself, but I didn’t quite understand its full impact on Cal’s journey and the themes of JFO until I replayed the game.
Remember that scene way back on Bogano where BD-1 injured his leg and Cal fixed it?
Tumblr media
When I first played, I found it a little odd that BD-1 scanned Cal here. Why not earlier? Why now? I also thought it was a bit of a clunky story moment—Cal has already indicated that he’s going to the vault. Why are they repeating that goal here?
Because Cal fixed his leg.
BD-1 was hurting, and Cal helped, and so the first memory was unlocked—a drive to get to the vault and show him the way forward.
It’s a sweet little moment, and it’s cool to understand it better on a replay, but I think it’s also a moment that’s core to the themes of the game. On Dathomir, Cal’s fears are revealed: he is no Jedi. On Ilum, he gives up.
And then BD-1 says: you were a Jedi all along.
It’s been a repeated refrain throughout JFO: we are who we are because we choose to keep going. Jaro Tapal tells Cal that failing and getting up is the only way to succeed. Cere says “it’s the choice to keep fighting that makes us who we are.” Cordova says “Hope will always survive in those who continue to fight.”
Cal has been doubting himself ever since his Master died. He’s been hiding, cut off from the force and from his people. But over and over we see him choosing to help. He helps Prauf on Bracca, knowing it could cost him his life. He helps BD-1 on Bogano, just because he can. He helps Saw Gererra’s fighters and the Wookies on Kashyyk, because they need it. He struggles and he messes up, but over and over he chooses to help. To quote another piece of Star Wars media: His compassion leaves a trail. BD-1 shines a light on that trail.
Respawn did not have to go as hard as they did with BD-1. He’s a cute little droid who delivers some mechanics in a cool diegetic way. They could have stopped there. Instead, they use BD-1 to enrich the story and the characters, and to drive home one of the the major themes of the game: how we work out who we are when everything has fallen apart.
In the end, our gang won’t rebuild the Jedi Order. In that sense, they’ve failed. But each and every one of them is fighting. They’re holding on to hope, and sharing it with one another. It’s what makes them who they are. And by being who they are—in Cal’s case, choosing to be a Jedi, they have won a victory, even if they fail.
Tumblr media
Man I love this game.

I got a Halloween idea... What if Medic killed his darling on accident during his many rampages? And like after a while Medic starts hallucinating that and person he kills is his S/O, so everytime he looks at his victims faces all he sees is the fightened and terrified stare of his darling and watches as they die over and over and over again
Its his Darling.... As a Ghost tormenting him to the point he tries to unalive himself but he is stopped, as his darling simply says "You will suffer like I have" and keeps medic from death and if he some how does succeed he respawns so basically he is going through his own personal hell to the point he believes that he should be punished and accepts it no matter how hard he wants to be with them, he killed them and he should be punished
Ghost S/O tormenting Medic for the REST of his life, no matter where he goes S/O is always there... And they're whispering horrible things into his ear tormenting him.... Or maybe it's his mind finally breaking and making this up? Who knows
I'll take my own spin on this! This is really dark, Anon ^^; I wanted this longer but I had no idea what else to add.
Going Crazy
Yandere! RED! Medic Short
(Halloween Event - Ghosts)
Pairing: Romantic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Ghosts, Murder, Guilt, Suicide attempt mention, Insanity, Punishment, Psychological torment, Past forced relationship, Strangling.
Tumblr media
He couldn't escape it. This was his own personal hell. He had sinned, he had done something horrible, and here he lies in his own personal punishment.
No matter what he did, he was brought back to suffer. Nothing would soothe his mind from the constant memories. Memories that tormented him...
Memories of YOU suffering at HIS hands.
He wasn't dead but he wished he was. He would do anything to stop reliving that cursed memory. He couldn't bear seeing your terrified face anymore-
It was an accident! He rants that fact like a mantra to seemingly no one. He didn't mean to kill you!
He was desperate. If he couldn't have you then he felt no one could. He didn't mean to squeeze your neck so tight.
He still remembered how it felt. He was in a frenzy, he saw red. He turned to you... you screamed.
Your screams at him to stop quickly turned into choked sobs and gurgles. He remembered how his strong hands clenched around your neck like a stress ball. He was gritting his teeth, he was so angry.
Then there was a sickening crack, the deed was done.
He couldn't even move on after that night. No matter how hard he tried to after the grief, he was unable to. It ate away at him.
He tried dating others like you! Which only resulted in the same unexplainable rage he inflicted towards you on that night. He saw you in their face.
He cracked their neck just the same way.
He was insane. Ludwig was soon known to be completely, and utterly, crazy. More than before, at least.
Everywhere he saw you. You always looked so disappointed. So judgemental. You hated him, he knew it.
He just wanted to tell you he's sorry! He wants you to forgive him! He wants to be with you even in the afterlife!
But whenever he tries, he isn't allowed. The attempt either fails or he wakes up fine. He may be near death yet he's told he's fine.
He swore he could see you grinning at him. Your spiritual presence finding joy in his suffering. He deserves this.
"You will suffer like I have. You said no one else can have me, right? Well, no one else can have YOU."
He's cursed to kill any lover he has. He's forced to live life alone and haunted by his past. There is no way to fix this.
You can't change the past.
He can't get your voice out of his head. He can't forget or ignore those ghostly touches. You're always there....
In the worse way possible, he really is bound to you.
How long will this go for? Will you let him die of old age? Did you have a special fate planned out for him?
He had no control now. You were all he could comprehend and understand. In a way, he got what he wanted.
He's the only one to have you. He's the only one to see you. He's the only one to hear you....
You were bound to him, you were his.
Yet at the same time, this was torture. He was forever at a spirit's beck and call. His life was no longer his own. Due to you, his life was changed forever.
He couldn't hold you. Not only that, but he was wanted for murder upon murder due to the rage you inflict upon him. He could never love you like he wished.
Was this a blessing or a curse?
He should he punished. This is his life now. You were his warden and he was your prisoner now. He needed to lie down and accept it.
"I thought you'd be happier, Ludwig!"
You'd coo at him, smile wide and malicious as you pace around him.
"We're together, forever."
You cup his face, taking in his depressed expression. Was he happy... or was he sad? He was so numb he didn't care anymore.
"Isn't this what you always wanted, Ludwig?"
He could never answer back.

This is currently run by one mod (@skyllion-uwu/@mx-mind ) but I might bring more on if I can't handle the load
Rules:
Timeloop refers to loop where someone is stuck reliving a certain day or other time period. Time is usually reset by the looper's death but it can be any event really. Something has to be done to break the loop and allow time to continue forward. This specific loop is often referred to as a "Groundhog Day Loop" (link opens to the TVTropes page on it)
Characters don't need to canonically be in a timeloop. If you can justify that they're in a timeloop I'll allow it! Example: V1 in Ultrakill respawns at checkpoints after death (as is usual in video games), but the fact that certain bosses will have unique voicelines when it respawns (especially MDK's "Why are we in the past?") can be taken as proof of them being in a timeloop
OCs are okay as long as you have a transparent image/image that can be edited to be transparent to use
If I feel uncomfortable with a request I will turn it down. I can't think of any specific media except Harry Potter but if I think of more I'll add it here
Oh, the flag!
Tumblr media
The purple is colorpicked from Homura from Madoka Magica since that was the first time I recognized the timeloop trope and it kickstarted my interest in them, blue for the sadness and despair that comes with being trapped in a timeloop, green is because I associate time with the color green, and white for the hope of escaping the loop. The loop is bronze to go with the color of gears in clocks, and the colors are dulled to show how things become bland when they're all you're used to.

Things to Note
Read More for world info so far:
Info tag
Last Updated: March 19th, 2024
PC = Player Character
General Info:
Audience changes are tied to the PC's deaths in some way.
When deceased, the PC will respawn in his room and all Hostile Entities will despawn.
Items being used by NPCs/Entities are unable to be used by the PC.
The PC is capable of stalling The Audience and forcing a democracy vote on a command.
The PC is capable of doing things in the game as long as it is hosted and Online, but if it is Offline then time is frozen for them.
PC swapping audiences when they die sometimes is a new occurrence.
PC does not know how to play the game anymore.
Some things might not be visible to The Audience.
When respawning, the PC regenerates all wounds.
The PC cannot talk on certain screens.
Character Info:
Caat is not a Haunt and seems unable to or refuses to leave the screen they are found on.
Caat deletes plushies and animals, and can manipulate what The Audience can interact with.
Caat is capable of not only using the general text box to speak, but to control the PC and speak through them as well.
Caat is Audience made, and isn't a normal NPC. It was originally a plush belonging to the PC.
--
Haunts Info:
The PC does not need to eat or drink but these items alleviate HP loss and Haunt effects.
Haunts cannot kill the PC, instead they cause stat debuffs or hindering visual effects.
Only specific objects can be possessed by a Haunt, and they only spawn during dawn, evening, and night.
Haunts cannot be killed.
Example of one of the Apathy flavour texts on the HAUNT status screen.
Haunts cause the haunted PC to relive an emotion from a significant quote that the Haunt has said to them at some point.
Haunts cause the world itself to reflect their emotion.
Haunts (and other NPCs) cannot bypass objects or walls without doors, and can be trapped within containers.
--
NPC Info:
Audience Members can create NPCs or Entities and they seem to have some kind of counter. NPCs apparently can become Hostile.
NPCs and Entities become Hostile when they've been ignored by The Audience for long enough. Only NPCs from the base game are immune, however most are deleted.
NPCs created by The Audience don't do anything nor have any personality until assigned by The Audience
The NPC Maker was never fully implemented and is only accessible due to a glitch with the game itself that causes the PC to revert back to their original appearance.
--
Misc Info:
The blue scribbled buttons in the Inventory are inaccessible by The Audience
Blood stains are from past NPCs although were only meant for the base game NPCs as part of the game's themes.
Pets spawned in are immediately deleted by some greater force.
It's possible to naturally gain stats in the base game, but its requirements are unknown.

m!a for 5 asks:
Phantom pains
[inspired by your artwork :)]
For the first time in awhile, Dell slept deeply, snoring softly as the late hours of the night ticked away.
Jane’s bunkbed was incredibly more comfortable than the old recliner he slept on in his workshop. The comforting sleep, along with the faint warmth of the other near him, plunged him into vivid dreams.
…but those dreams turned into vivid, cruel nightmares.
Dell dreamed of his rough respawn attempt, the smell of sulfur filling his nose, choking him, skin burning, screaming. He felt the gunslinger burn through his flesh, metal hot and electricity shooting through his system from the malfunctioning machinery.
Dell’s skin crawled, hair raising on end as he whimpered, his right arm twitching as the nerves were set alight, his stump reliving the trauma from the nightmare. The pain only grew, the electric feeling becoming a burning sensation, a sharp pain growing, the ghost of his hand contorting in pain.
Dell’s eyes flew open and he sat up frantically, clutching his stump as he hissed in pain, squeezing it tightly. The pain only continued, growing past his stump and up his arm, following the fresh scars he had received from the respawn attempt.
“Fuck…not now.” Dell whimpered quietly, gritting his teeth as he thumped his head against the wall, holding the offending limp to his chest, forcing back tears.
God it hurt.
He kicked his legs in excruciating pain as he turned, sucking in a breath, loudly rummaging in the nightstand next to him, looking for his painkillers.
Painkillers. Painkillers…
…that weren’t there.
“Fuck!” Dell nearly wailed, banging his head harder against the wall, near painful, all attempts to be quiet forgotten as the phantom pains grew unbearable.

Note
Apparently if Genny tries to acknowledge her trauma she gets sent into a permanent unresponsive state due to her dying and respawning system, so she's physically incapable of getting actual coping mechanisms. This means she has worse coping mechanisms than you, checkmate
"Checkmate". Okay man let's see what I have in terms of coping.
I'm a pathological liar with an unlikeable personality who is well on their way to ruining every positive relationship I have.
I do this on purpose so that I can find a way to justify my unending self hatred.
This self hatred manifests in killing myself in increasingly gruesome ways in a desperate attempt to die.
I'm well aware that these are all pointless due to the narrative yet do them anyway because I feel I genuinely deserve them.
I continually change my identity and sense of self to the point where there are hundreds of mes going around in my head and they ALL still hate themselves
The 'original' me killed themself upon realising their place in the narrative and doubled and edited their files to make me who was literally coded to hate myself.
The 'original' me also hates themself AND me and made me relive previous deaths to the point where I decided suicide (which I'm aware will inevitably fail) is easier than this.
I've convinced myself I'm incapable of changing my behavior and coping mechanisms.
👍.

Haven't I Given Enough?
Hermit! Tommy DSMP x Hermitcraft crossover fic
Chapter 2 | Where Fears and Lies Melt Away
Summary: The other side was confusing, to say the least, Tommy thinks. At least they haven't tried to kill him yet.
Word Count: 2420
Notes: Chapter title is from "Sanctuary" by Hikaru Utada
*******************************************************
It felt like a week before Stress saw the boy make any sign of life, though it was more like three days. Three days of careful monitoring and healing his injuries. Doc and her switched shifts now and then, most of the time was when she slept and he watched the boy or when Stress had to buy more supplies for both the kid and her base. And there were times when Stress felt as if the boy wasn’t going to wake up. Moments she’d be watching over him, making sure he was still breathing and his heart still beating, but his breath would hitch for too long and her heart would drop only for him to cough back to life.
In the three days since he appeared, any information about him was kept between Iskall, Stress, Doc, and Xisuma. It was imperative, X had told them, that the others didn’t know about him until he figured out how he came to the server. Hermitcraft was a safe haven to many of the hermits, those who were hiding or who had fled from an evil in their past life. They relied on the safety the whitelist provided. They were at ease knowing that nothing could find and chase them, making them relive the worst moments in their lives.
But when he woke up, groggy, dazed, and very confused, the first thing Stress did was sit in the chair at the end of the bed. Waiting for when he noticed her.
He groaned when he propped himself up, leaning more on his left than his right. His eyes blinked rapidly for a few seconds as they tried to adjust to the sudden brightness of the room. The boy’s head turned to the right first, Stress watched him scan the chest monster that littered the ground of her base, then he turned to the left to stare out the window, watching the leaves rustle in the breeze. Eventually, the boy took notice of the other person in the room.
She watched as he scooted further in his bed when he saw Stress, as if he was anticipating something from her. “Hello.”
The boy’s voice was a little raspy having been unused for a few days, “Where am I? Who are you?”
“My name is Stress and you’re in HermitCraft,” she answered.
“Have you kidnapped me? Did Dream set you up to this?” He asked. “And don’t lie to me, I’ll take all your lives if you do.”
“I did not kidnap you. You were drowning in my pond three days ago and one of my friends and I rescued you,” Stress stood up from her seat and strode over to the brewing stand where the healing potion was almost finished. “I have no idea who Dream is but respawns are infinite so there’s no perma-death if that’s what you mean.”
The kid was quiet for a moment and Stress figured he was trying to wrap his head around the no perma-death, it made her wonder what kind of world he had come from. She knows that “joke” Iskall made a few days ago was supposed to be a joke, but something was telling her that it wasn’t. “Do you have any more questions?”
“Of course, I have more fuckin’ questions!” The kid yelled. “I woke up in a place I never fuckin’ been before talking to some random-ass lady who I’ve also never fucking met before in my life!”
Stress nodded her head and corked the healing potion and gave it a little shake, making sure the glistering melon wasn’t clumping at the bottom. “Valid, very valid. So ask your questions.” She walked up to the kid and gave him the potion before returning to her seat. “I’ll answer them to the best of my ability, love.”
“Is this poisoned?” He asked first, watching the glittery liquid inside swish from side to side.
“No,” Stress said. “You saw me make it, but if you want, I’ll take a drink to prove that it’s not.”
He uncorked the bottle and watched as a shimmery mist sprouted from the opening, leaving the smell of melting gold in its wake. A tell-tale sign it’s a health potion. Though the kid couldn’t rely on something like that, there were many times when he had to poison potions and had to make sure the smoke cloud hadn’t changed. It was difficult and took hours. This potion, however, was made in less than fifteen minutes, the average amount of time to brew a health potion. But, the kid still didn’t trust it.
Stress walked to the bed, noticing his hesitation, “May I sit?” She sat at the end of the bed. Plenty of room between the two because she knows he doesn’t trust her, which is understandable, this is the first time they’ve met and it would be weird for him to give her his complete trust immediately. Stress took the bottle out of his hands and drank a little; a surge of energy rushed through her body and the particle effects began their ascension from her body, flurries of bright red swirls surrounding her. “See? It’s not poisoned.”
Handing the potion back to the kid, Stress watched as he took a few hesitant sips before finally finishing it. Just like herself, red swirls lifted off his skin to show that his body was absorbing the magic. “Why am I here? Why are you helping me? Do you want something?”
“I don’t know why you’re here,” Stress answered. “Our admin is trying to figure out both how and why you came to Hermitcraft, we have people here that want to stay safe and away from stuff, if they find out you’re here without coming the traditional way, they’ll freak.” The boy listened to her, trying to connect the dots in his head. “And I don’t need a reason to help you other than the fact that you were hurt and could’ve been dying. I could not stand for that, and neither could Doc, especially since you’re still a kid.”
“I’m not a kid!” The kid shouted. “I’m sixteen! But you still haven’t answered my question, lady, what do you want from me?”
“For you to get some rest and to get better.”
“Your lying,” he said. “No one does anything without getting something for themselves. So what is it?”
“Fine, you got me.” Stress pulled out her communicator and opened the private chat room to Xisuma ready and waiting. “I want you to tell my admin how you got here from wherever you came from so he can fix any bugs or glitches.”
“Ha! I knew it,” he said triumphantly. “I knew you were lying…wait, admin?”
“Yeah,” she says typing. “He said he’ll be here in a few minutes.”
“No! No! I don’t want to talk to him!” The kid shouts and for the first time since waking up, he gets out of bed. His breath quickened as he searched for a place to hide finding nothing in the not-yet-decorated base. “What if he attacks me for being here? I don’t want that asshole to kill me. He might kick me out or ban me because I fuckin’ trespassed on his server!”
“Oh, jeez,” Stress chuckles. “Xisuma couldn’t hurt a fly! That derp of an admin would never do that, and trust me, we have some hermits who’ve done some pretty intense stuff in the past and X never used it against him.” Stress patted the bed, signaling that she wants him to sit on the bed. “If you’re scared of being alone with him, I’ll stay with you.”
“No offense, lady, but I don’t trust you at all,” he says. “Hell, I don’t know if you're still lying to me, and your working with that bastard of an admin Dream!”
“And it’s perfectly fine to feel that way,” Stress slowly made her way to the boy. She could tell that whatever world he came from abused his trust; the people there used him for their own benefit, and he became a chess piece in someone else’s game. “But you need to tell our admin what you know so that he can help.”
“Why would he help me? I’m trespassing on his server and using up his potions and shit, he’ll probably beat the shit out of me and kick me out to the world hub!” The kid pressed himself along the wall.
“I don’t think I could hurt a kid even if I wanted to.”
Stress looked behind her at the new voice. Clad in his usual green armor and purple-tinted visor, Xisuma walked through the empty base to where Stress and the kid were. His elytra fluttered behind him, trying to settle into a comfortable position after being used. In the few days that passed since the kids first arrived, Xisuma had changed parts of his armor. Bones became an accessory now that his bone farm was producing goods en masse. He had a skull propped on his right shoulder as a pauldron of some kind, the teeth just grazing his newly exposed arm (which Stress can say was the first time she ever saw his skin.) Across his torso was a reconstructed rib cage. The spine of it ended at his sternum and the rib stretched across him, making his chest larger than normal. Layered over his helmet was another skull, this one was more complete and intact, the jaw framed his face and added an extra inch to the already tall admin. If Stress didn’t know that this guy was her derp-filled, pacifist admin, she would be intimidated to all hell. Which was not a good way to prove to the frightened kid that Xisuma wasn’t someone to be scared of.
“You say that and you’re wearing fucking bones!” The kid shouted. “Are those from the people you banned?! Did you kill them and made it a part of your stupid-ass get-up?!”
Xisuma chuckled and removed the extra skull, not that it did anything to deter the kids’ fear of the admin, he was still larger than everyone else in the room. “No, these are not from people I’ve banned.” The admin gave a far-off look for a quick second as if he was remembering something he regretted. “I’ve only banned one person once.”
“Then where the fuck did you get those bones from?! Your enemies?!” He yelled.
“In a way yes,” Xisuma snapped back. “I have a skeleton farm and so I pieced together some of the nicer-looking bones for my suit this season.” He looked down at his garb. “Do you like it? I quite like it, but that’s not what I’m here to talk about.”
Xisuma walked to the seat at the foot of the bed and pulled up the admin panel, strings of code zipped in almost every direction on the light blue hologram. The sound of digital tapping was loud in the quiet room. “I know this is a tad bit late, but can you tell us your name?”
“Why the fuck would I tell you my name?” He said.
“So that I can access your player history to see what server you came from,” Xisuma says, his fingers never leaving the screen. “I can’t look at your code without permission.”
“Can you see everything there?” The boy asked looking from Xisuma to Stress. “Can she see it?”
“Stress won’t be able to see anything on the screen, and neither can you because neither of you are admins,” X answered. “But yes, I will be able to see everything, but I’ll only allow myself to view your server history.”
The kid thought about it for a moment, “You’ll only look at my server history? And that’s it?”
“That’s it.” X nodded. “If that’s what you allow me access to, then that’s all I’ll be able to see.”
“Fine, my name is Tommy.”
“Is that your full name or your player name?”
“Is there any difference?”
Xisuma let his hands drop slightly, the admin panel following his left hand, tilting to give the admin an unobstructed view of the other player. “Well, a player has two names: their player name and their family name. A player’s family name is the one they normally go by, it’s what's most often displayed as your username. But their player name is what identifies them in the code, it’s slightly different than their family name because it usually has a piece that is the same as their parent or guardian.”
“What’s yours then?” Tommy asked.
“My name is Xisuma, but my player name is XisumaVoid,” the admin explained. “The ‘Void’ part being given to me by my home village. Understand?”
Tommy nodded his head, “So, if my family name would be ‘Tommyinnit’ would my player name would be ‘TommyinnitMoon’?”
“Well let’s try it.” Xisuma typed in the lengthy name and watched as the panel searched for a person with that name. The circle in the center of the screen chased its tail for a few seconds before popping an ‘Error’ in the admins’ face. “Nothing came up, any other guesses?”
Tommy wracked his brain for any more information about what his player name would be. Trying to remember if Dream had said it when he first joined the server, maybe Philza spoke it once or twice when they were world-hopping when he was younger. And then the faded figure of his mother came to his mind. It was a fuzzy memory from his toddler years, but it was one of the few of the life he had before Philza that never seemed to fade.
He remembers looking up at his mother, her hair blending into the background and the dark blue hues of her jumper never seemed to stay the same color, as if he couldn’t quite remember what her jumper looked like exactly. But he remembers her speaking to someone, the blurry movement of her mouth speaking mumbled phrases to the man near them. “...player….?Oh…” Her words sounded like he was hearing her through water, jumbled and muffled. “TommylineMoon.”
“Tom…TommylineMoon.” Tommy finally spoke when he remembered why his mother spoke his player name. It was when they were being given a home. When the man he thought of as a father/uncle brought them to the server that became their home after living in the hub for so long and he couldn’t help but wonder where the man was now or what happened to the server they had to evacuate.
************************************************************
Okay, so far, what do you guys think? Is it good?
I want to clear up any confusion on Tommy's player name. just like how Pearl's name is pearlescent, I wanted Tommy's to be something similar and I found the word 'opaline' and just smashed Tommy with that to create Tommyline. I know, I know, it's weird but it's my fic lol
Let me know what you guys think!!

What is your muse’s Fear/Phobias and what would happen if they had to face those fears.
OOOOOOO okokok so there are a lot of random ones actually! Mainly to due with uh *cough cough* Character Trauma/Lore *cough*, but they're hella fun to see on a list here.
Like always cut off cause of the long text ahead lmao.

Ivy ξ(❁) ⊕) ξ:
Large Crowds
Despite the chaos of her job, her own anxiety and "stage fright" as she sometimes dubs it, keeps her from speaking to too many crowds of people at once. Their eyes staring into her soul always made her nervous she'd drop her "act" as she worked.
What would he do if he had to face this fear?
I’d imagine the manor has helped a bit with this fear as she’s slowly gotten used to larger groups of people. She hopes this sort of technique will help her slowly build up her confidence in speaking in front of an audience when she's outside of the manor.
Fire poker equipment
They had something to do with a fight she had with her benefactor. So now she tends to see all of them as a threat.
What would she do if he had to face this fear?
She refuses to even handle them. Usually, she finds some sort of excuse for someone else to move/use them for her if its needed.

Wayne (-⊕ ζ ⊕-) < :
The Dark
Before his encounter with Shadowed Man, this fear was much more minuscule, being more of an "I'm scared of what's in the dark than the dark itself" kind of person. Now, however, he fears both. He sees it as a beacon for terrible things.
What would he do if he had to face this fear?
It would be the fastest way to make the man have a panic attack or start sobbing (putting it lightly). Oftentimes, he carries some variation of a lantern with him to avoid this practically anywhere in the manor.
Death/Losing his loved ones again
While, like most people, he fears his own death/possible demise in the future at the hands of The Shadowed Man. After everything Wayne has witnessed, he can't really help but have moments where he fears that any of the people he may have gotten close to could die in front of him. Forcing him to relive one of his worst memories all over again.
What would he do if he had to face this fear?
He's technically faced this fear a few times! The manor in my lore kinda has logic that while you can die in a match/witness someone die in a match, they're simply going to revert into a doll once they bleed out and "respawn" in the manor.
Needless, to say, this has given the poor lamp smith multiple scares over his time at the manor. Not necessarily numbing him to the fear, but definitely making it a 2nd problem to worry about rather than a first one.

LeRoy 🗝️>(⊗▼⊗´)•ζ:
Large animals (Bear sized and above)
While loving the wilderness and its many creatures, witnessing people be dragged off by a giant bear-like creature does strange things to how one sees large animals. He's somewhat ashamed of this fear, mainly trying to go on with his duties/life like normal but it doesn't help that
What would he do if he had to face this fear?
He technically has! On accident! It was actually how he entered the manor. So I suppose running through a national park/woods in general and trying to hide in an old cabin.
Getting lost and not being able to find his way back.
While more of a thought in the back of his head, there have been times when he'd almost gotten injured or stranded on a trail he didn't recognize in the park he worked at. It makes him a lot more careful now when it comes to exploring and hiking!
What would he do if he had to face this fear?
First, he'd be in denial that he's too lost. Then? He'd most likely panic a bit and try to signal for help somehow.

Miss Manni (,◡ _ ◡,):
Other people dying
Miss Manni already died. She's come to terms with it multiple times on multiple occasions. Now, her fear of death lies in witnessing the ones she holds close to her die in some way shape, or form.
What would she do if he had to face this fear?
While it's common in matches due to the manor's abilities to respawn survivors, outside of a match she'd most likely be fairly distraught at the prospect. Trying everything she could to keep the dying person alive.
Forgetting who she was
Miss Manni finds that the only piece left of her former self, Miss Sally, is her memories. She fears that if she loses them that she may lose herself entirely. She fears of what may happen if she doesn't have any humanity to tether herself to.
What would she do if he had to face this fear?
It would most likely trigger a spiral of sorts in her. She'd start socializing less, documenting what she could remember, etc. I'm sure at some point she'd find some sort of way to cope or accept the situation, but till that point, it would strike fear within her whole being.
-ˋˏ ༻❁༺ ˎˊ-
Eleanor (´⬬_⬬`) < :
Confined Spaces
Eleanor was locked within her family's workshop during her final moments, thus any sort of locked or cramped space makes her feel incredibly uneasy and unsafe.
What would she do if he had to face this fear?
At first, she might not believe she may be fully trapped somewhere if it's just a room. However, as time goes by and foggy memories start to resurface in her mind, she'd most likely go into some sort of frantic frenzy.
Her family taking her away from the manor
Deep down, she fears her mother and father still being out there and looking for her. Waiting to lock her away once more. In her mind, the manor is currently the place that has been the kindest to her, despite her hunter status.
What would she do if he had to face this fear?
There'd be a lot of emotions! Sadness, fear, and overall anger. If Eleanor had a chance to interact with her parents again (them trying to take her away or not), she wishes to make them feel some sort of pain akin to the one she felt for so many years.
-ˋˏ ༻❁༺ ˎˊ-
Shadow Man /++ ◡ ++\ :
More powerful beings
One of the few things the Shadowed Man strangely respects are beings that are more powerful than him. After all, why threaten a god or demon when the shadow could very well be snuffed out of existence for doing so?
What would he do if he had to face this fear?
He'd rein even more chaos than before. He might even be able to build himself a kingdom like some strange dnd boss.
Light
One of his main weaknesses! It's often why he gets vessels/puppets to do his work for him to keep himself from fizzling out.
What would he do if he had to face this fear?
He has multiple times! His reactions to being burnt by the light most often tend to change with the way the situation plays out. More notable with Mr. Strickland and one Jamie O'Neil (One ended up being hunted at the manor for sport and the other couldn't escape the darkness in time).
