Effloresce pov speculation: Jurian. What is he doing? Is he still in Amarantha's ring? Did Hybern dunk him in the uppity magic cookpot and he's just hanging around Spring, being a forgotten threat to fae? Also, it's so bizarre that all the fae, some who knew him personally, have forgotten how dangerous he is. He seduced Clythia, murdered her brutally, led Amarantha on a merry chase and made sure she was useless as a general until she ripped him to pieces. He did that on purpose. The Fae forgot.

Okay, I'm going to try not to spoil too too much, because Jurian has like, his own whole thing going in Effloresce. I looked at canon and said, actually, that man is fascinating.

Effloresce!Jurian is the same age as canon Jurian but ONLY chronologically.

(The ring is SUCH a cop out in canon- if the Cauldron can resurrect from a single body part, no important fae would be dying?? Or staying dead? If someone had the power to TRAP THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE DEAD, surely we'd...hear more about it? We got a whole magic horse biography in acosf for some reason, but JURIAN? No information. He is...sane after being trapped in a ring for five centuries? Comes out of that ring, and Hybern assumes he's been...tortured into submission? IS ON THEIR SIDE?)

There's three big things here that I'm playing with- one, Jurian REMEMBERS human slavery. He remembers the world he fought to destroy and the birth of the next. He remembers what ACTUALLY HAPPENED.

Two, while I reject the ring/Amarantha premise, I think it's basically impossible to believe the fae, who are immortal, would let a mortal (ish) man who'd killed some of their most powerful just have a peaceful life after the war.

SIDEBAR: They're not in the story, but I have HUGE Miriyam/Dracon HATE. They're just...in hiding? forever? On an island no one kind find? They could have been SO COOL but the vibe is so much more commune turned cult. WHY ON EARTH would they get the Cauldron, Prythian's sacred vessel of creation? They're not EVEN FROM PRYTHIAN

Three, he's an even louder metaphor for Feyre's total mental shift. Humans meet Jurian and go: JURIAN? OUR JURIAN? Feyre has like, a second of wonder before being like: BUT HE MURDERED HIS GIRLFRIEND RHYS SAYS HE'S A MONSTER. She, like most faeries, seems to think fae are inherently better. That their lives matter more. Clythia killed all her slaves rather than free them, but we're supposed to think Jurian's espionage is the gross part? Compared to whatever shit the fae were up to???

Jurian's basically a walking neon sign that reads HIGH FAE ARE DANGEROUS TO HUMANS AND KILL THEIR OWN DESCENDANTS, wrapped up in the courtly manners of a bygone era, errant knighting about trying to help humans, seething beyond belief that the crowns his people fought to create have allied with their greatest enemies.

(Also I gave him a sexy murderous girlfriend with a bad attitude. because. canon didn't even give the mercenary a NAME. Also his beef with Miriyam sucking being attributed to jealousy is such a ridiculous reduction. It's not that she didn't choose HIM, she fell in love with the man who OWNED HER and fucked off forever to secret paradise while the world went to hell)

By humans, Jurian is quite literally the opposite of forgotten. Faeries made it so in their massive, unbelievable arrogance.

“COCO! COCO, ARE YOU THERE?”

Angel hits the door with his fist, while Gilly calls him by the bell. Creeper is using his phone, hearing the tone inside the house. It's been two days since you left, and he hasn't appeared in the clubhouse. Tired of waiting for an answer, Tranq pulls them all apart, kicking the doorknob and making some pieces of wood fall on air to the floor. What they find, shocked them. The house is a complete mess. Glasses, paintings, furniture (...), everything destroyed. Empty beers spread all around the floor of the living room and a tipsy Coco lying on the sofa. The smells of cigs, alcohol and dirt are concentrated on the environment, provoking them sickness.

Ezekiel takes the first step to open all the windows, walking carefully to not fall into all the trash. Angel leans towards his friend, standing him up between growls, being helped by Creeper. Bishop have a quick look before trying to call you again, like the last two days without having an answer, more than from your voicemail.

“I think it's pretty clear what's happening here”. Riz says, resting a shoulder against the main door.

“I don't know, brother, but that girl is the only good thing he has. So we have to find her”. El Presidente replies, turning at him, keeping his gloves inside the kutte pocket.

“I feel that this shit is our fault”. Taza adds, pulling back his hair.

In the meantime, Gilly and Angel are trying to undress a sleepy Coco, to tuck him into the shower filled with cold water. When it soaks his body, the mexican starts to shake, wanting to free himself between screams and tears. He looks like shit, feels like shit. But help is the last thing he wants.

“C'mon, man. Take the fucking bath while we clean your house”. Angel says, clicking his tongue.

“Fuckin' leave me die”. He sobs, sitting down with some difficulties because of the alcohol in his blood.

Gilly rolls his eyes, palming the other's back to step out from the bathroom and closing the door behind them. Coming back to the living room, Ezekiel is already picking up all the empty bottles, while Creeper places as he can the chairs and the tables. Tranq is cleaning the kitchen with Riz and Bishop is trying to locate your friends and your coworkers at the tattoo studio. But nothing. It's like the earth just swallowed you.

When Coco finally steps out from the bath wearing clean clothes and wet hair staining the floor, normality has come back to the house. The oldest Reyes offers him a cigs and a lighter, letting him fall down again on the sofa. The crew is waiting for some kind of explanation, but their brother doesn't look to have the strength to face reality. Brushing his hair to the back of his head, the mexican takes a deep drag to exhale it by his nose.

“Man, we're gonna find her, okay?” Angel sits over the auxiliary table, placing a hand on his nap trying to call his attention.

He denies moving his chin, about to again.

“She left me 'cause she deserves somethen' better than a trash like me, carnal”. He mumbles with a broken tone of voice, bowing his head.

“The kid loves you, man. Maybe she just needed some time alone”.

“I fuckin' abandoned her for two fuckin' months”. He replies enraged, feeling the tears running down his skin. “I fuckin' forgive our fers' anniversary and… shit… she was two fuckin' hours waitin' fo' me sitting in a fuckin' restaurant. She doesn' deserves tha' shit, brother. (Y/N) deserves a good man, who treats her rai'”.

“Hey, listen”. Bishop squats close to him, snapping two fingers in front of his eyes. “We are going to find the kid, you hear me? You did a lot of shit for the club the last two months, that's reality. And you are going to take a break. To travel with her. To rest. And to show her what you really feel and what you really want”.

Coco doesn't reply, having another smoke and trying to nod, rubbing his eyes with the back of his free hand. He knows pretty well he fucked up everything between both, and finding it out when you are already gone, hurts double. A month ago, when he was understanding that maybe he was pushing you away, he talked with his brothers about proposing to you because he couldn't imagine a single day of his life without you. And he wanted to do it celebrating your first anniversary. But he forgot it. He forgot it drinking at Vicki's house, after a long week at the other side of the border covering Galindo's cartel.

“Call Marcus. Tell him her name and let's see if that boy Miguel has, that controls the databases, can find anything. An address, a postal code… Whatever”. Bishop turns to Taza, narrowing Coco's knee trying to comfort him.

STMPD Anti-Recommends Bubblegum Crisis Fanfiction: Neo No Armor Against Fate

Okay. Round 2. Alternating between the ones I like and the ones I don't like should be - fun. I think. I hope.

Actually, before we start I'm going to link you, dear reader, to a little something called the Bubblegum Crisis Fanfiction Guide. All its links go up to the year 2000, with most of them linking to what used to be Usenet - rec.arts.anime.creative.bgc was its old sub-sub-sub-heading. And although Usenet is now Google Groups, an ancient, dead thing I suspect will go the way of Yahoo Groups soon enough, as sure as Geocities was stomped out by that foolish little company, and although the updated links from 2009 now make you download gunzip files, which are not exactly in common use anymore, you can just find a better mirror here. It won't work on mobile, though. If one browser forces you to download the gunzips, try another one.

Also, what you're about to bear witness to is a remake of 'No Armor Against Fate' - Hagen wrote that from '94-'97 then rewrote it in 2000, saying he always felt the first version was a first draft. Called it a 'short novel' - Neo clocks in at 440K words, an epic if there ever was one. Said it ignores Crash's developments, which a lot of fanfiction gladly did. It's - well. It is not very good.

Reader, do you think it's weird that I'm doing this? Linking you to a fanfiction that I despise deeply and then gesturing wildly about as to why it's bad? While also refusing to highlight specific passages, instead relying on memory because I feel so strongly about not wanting to read this thing in earnest? I must come off as so tsundere.

But that isn't going to stop me. This is a fic much beloved by the old guard of BGC fanfic writers, and even if the fandom is deader than my late granddad, I still would like to take the opportunity to rip some bandages off and say no, it is not good.

While Neo appears to be about the Knight Sabers in 2034 at first blush, it is not. A great many fanfics from this era are the same - Original Character arrives, fucks shit up, either joins the Knight Sabers or fights them. And like I said in my last post (and in my mini-review of Grand Mal), this creates more misses than hits because it's so hard to swim out from under the Mary Sue impulse, there. And although Hagen may not appear to be walking that path at first, that's only because he's using the trope of the Villain Sue, the Admiral Thrawns of this world, folks who are aggressively competent at committing cold-hearted evil and can send the heroes on the run even if they themselves are technically underlings of the Big Bad.

So: Domino Odette is arguably our protagonist, then. A Sexaroid with the upload of Brian J. Mason's consciousness that Largo was built from, revived by one of Mason's Boomer-Woman bodyguards from OVAs 2 & 3. Only, Largo was crazy and megalomanaical, but Odette has had all those parts sheared off. She's cold, beautiful, 'a mind for business and a body for sin' Hagen says, and patient enough to gain power and to serve GENOM as effectively as possible. She kills the real Domino Odette offscreen, takes her place as an executive - and Quincy finds out immediately, then says 'eh, whatever, we're cool so long as you know who's boss'. And, you know, she does.

So over 440K words and five big story arcs we see Domino subtly dominate just about everyone - Reika Chang comes into town in Arc 2 and Domino makes her feel useless and gets one over on the Chang Group, she gradually wrests power from Kate Madigan, et cetera. Eventually, she uncovers the Sabers' identities effortlessly, brings them in effortlessly, and has them help GENOM deal with some people Largo brainwashed who are attempting to wreck earth via lunar massdriver. The Knight Sabers are destroyed and no one, not even Sylia, seems to bat a fucking eye - actually, she and Domino have a relationship, but then Domino breaks it off and they go their separate ways. Domino continues, as seen in the epilogue, to do evil things to accumulate power for GENOM, and it's all treated as just what happens, what will happen, inevitably.

Look, it doesn't help that Shawn has no idea what exclamation marks are, never uses them, and that his sentences, his paragraph-to-paragraph prose, is dull, dry, exhausting to read in its boringness. Somehow Canada bested the US as North America's superpower -figure that out - and he just mentions that in less than a paragraph and does nothing with it.

It all kind of blurs together, you know? I don't like Domino, but I think Shawn does despite her supposedly being an antihero or grudgingly-respectable villainess, so willingly does he heap capabilities and victories in her court. There's literally a point where the Sabers try to extract someone from GENOM, he appears to be dead, everyone just kind of goes home, and yet Domino and GENOM are somehow able to revive him - not by anything connected to Mason's Largo-oid upload, just, you know, technology. It gets worse when you realize Domino isn't a woman of reasonable age, but looks like this:

Yeah, see the loli on Sylia's back? That's her. She's a fucking loli of the 'ackshually she's an adult so it's okay for me to lewd her' type, decades before anime fans started making fun of themselves for that shit. A body built for sin, too. Jesus Christ, Hagen.

So: Bad Prose. Bad Main Character. What else is up there?

Uh, the Sabers themselves? Nevermind that Hagen packs the world with more original characters in the Sabers' civilian life than strictly necessary, but they all seem to lack, I dunno, loyalty to the cause? As though they're all just waiting to be dunked on - they move on with their lives, move up in the world until the Sabers can't be reliably sustained. Which is annoying enough that the threat of GENOM isn't such a big deal as it would be in other, better fic, but then we get Devon Okami, who is just... ugh.

Devon is a co-founder of GENOM, second only to Quincy in his clout. Linna ends up dating him even though he's like thirty years her senior, and ends up taking her in when GENOM puts out the call (oops, guess you shouldn't have trusted him, eh). Also he's Priss's grandfather or something, so Priss is a lost girl who could be incredibly wealthy and doesn't know it. Which is a contrivance decades-older fiction has used before, and was stupid then, and is stupid now.

Really, the whole story's theme seems to be that megacorporations like GENOM cannot be stopped, not by normal people or by superheroes like the Sabers. In the end, Sylia has to essentially receive the right to make her own Boomer-building company because Quincy feels like it. She moves on with her life - changes the locks to get rid of the other three Sabers, who move on with their lives as well, as if the friendship they had meant nothing to any party.

"GENOM has lead the way, and we will follow, and we will be the better for it," an editorial in the epilogue (not found in this particular instance of Neo), says. And that's the thing. GENOM cannot be destroyed by the Sabers - Sylia literally says 'its time will come' but what will happen in the interim? Domino's power, her endless string of hostile takeovers and assassinations, remains unstopped - is , again, necessary. "GENOM with a purpose is a useful organism," Domino says, and "without a purpose it is cancer", but that's all in the context of Quincy giving it purpose.

It's... it's really based off of that one monologue by Sylia in OVA 8, isn't it? Where GENOM can't be destroyed because it does occasionally do good for the world? It's a very 90's 'neoliberal' ethos, this. The corporations have won, they'll develop new hopefully-beneficial technology, all we have to do is ride the rainbow and accept they'll do evil things, too, and live with that. It's the End Of History, forty years in the future. Worse still is that it makes Sylia say that her crusade against GENOM was all revenge and therefore was bad because 'revenge bad' is the message of a lot of core BGC. That any attempt to fight the system is inevitably personal and therefore childish is - an opinion I cannot agree with.

Boy. God. Damn. Maybe if you read Neo not knowing that it would build to this political bootlicking sort of stance you might enjoy it. But I can't, not anymore. I'm too far gone, folks. I've read my David Graeber and I tell you that megacorps hold back technology being used for liberating purposes by simply crimping all of technological devlopment in the first place. I will not let an evil loli tell me that some of us may die, but that is a sacrifice she is willing to make.

International Women's Day: Mamamoo Edition

Just because I thought "Why not?" If you you're involved with Mamamoo, every single day feels like a Women's Day. And here are the reasons why 👇🏻

Kim Yongsun - Solar

When we're talking about women empowerment in K-Pop or the music industry in general, I hardly can think of a better role model than Kim Yongsun. She's not only Mamamoo's oldest member and their leader, she's also a very supportive and thoughtful person who always cares about everyone and everything around her.

Her YouTube channel Solarsido demonstrates her versatility as singer, entertainer, dancer, choreographer etc. and she pleases her fans with a lot of diverse content. Once in a while she shows her incredible dance skills, the other day she exposes her way of learning English. But what's really impressive about her YouTube channel is that she raises awareness about serious issues and social causes:

Also, did I mention that Solar stands for gender neutrality? I think we all remember that time she ripped off her shirt during their 4seasons 4 colors concerts and when she was invited to perform live at KBS! She explained, “Afer seeing many male idols ripping their shirts on stage, I wondered, ‘Why can’t girls do that too?‘”

Moon Byulyi - Moonbyul

One of the best examples for gender neutrality and music diversity in K-Pop might be Miss Moon Byulyi.

With her latest solo comeback "Dark side of the Moon", she wrote a new history in K-Pop. Bold in both sound and style, Moonbyul takes the stage with "Eclipse" and uses it to show off her duality as both a singer and rapper over its forceful melody and brash beats. Accompanied by the release of a captivating music video where the artist is seen both as a soldier and a queen, “Eclipse” revels in Moonbyul’s skills as a performer, and also continues Mamamoo’s legacy as an act that constantly relays different ideas of feminine strength through their music. ©Billboard

Moonbyul is successfully redefining fashion’s outdated gender norms by wearing suits and breaking the beauty standards of K-Pop PERFECTLY. But Byulyi also has her soft sides. Her sincere love for Mamamoo and Moomoos is just precious and she never misses a chance to show her support and love for her members and fans. On Fancafe, she helped Moos who went through hard times and in her private life, family and friends play a central role which she proudly shows by her many tattoos.

I personally love her for her way of spreading self-confidence and a strong self-esteem. Be it by her self-composed songs or by simply talking with fans during Fanmeetings and on Vlive, she always motivates us to love ourselves!

Jung Wheein - Wheein

Wheein was born to shine. But she was also born to be a great role model and here is why.

Fronting Soar, Wheein's first-ever solo single album, “Good Bye,” or “Let’s Break Up” as it reads literally in Korean, is a poignant track that rises and falls with Wheein's dynamic delivery of the song, as soft rock instrumentals build the melody up around her powerful vocals.

In addition, Wheein explained that the shape of love doesn't matter to her, it's all the same. For me as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Wheein's statement means a lot and I'm so happy about her support and understanding!

During the "Secret Unnie" filming with SNSD's Hyoyeon, Wheein also talked about the pressure of Korean beauty standards and her struggles of feeling left behind, a feeling all of us can relate to.

Whenever Wheein shows her vulnerable sides, it always carries an important message to her fans. I love her because she's simply being herself without trying to be someone she isn't. Wheein is one of the most humble artists I've ever met, she's an inspiration and a great emotional supporter.

Ahn Hyejin - Hwasa

I guess since she became THE it-girl of 2018, 2019 and probably 2020 also, everyone should be aware of how much of an amazing person she is. Here are the reasons why she is my number one queen.

Everything started with twit, her first solo song which quickly became a very popular song in SK. Her prowess as one of K-pop’s most dynamic singers carries throughout the song, a true show of her impressive talent as she addresses, mocks really, a lover who is giving too much to someone who doesn’t deserve it. ©Billboard

Who doesn't remember her most famous quote? I think a lot of people appreciate her for her very strong self-esteem and just being the way she is. Just like Wheein and the rest of Mamamoo, she's very humble and down to earth.

What I love the most about her is her attitude. Hwasa called out her haters in their latest comeback album "reality in BLACK" and doesn't hesitate to tell the whole world how much she loves to be herself.

What can I say, there's so much more I want to tell about her but the best way to get to know her is to watch the whole Mamamoo related content and ofc her solo activities, for example her appearance in "I live alone"

All in all we have to admit that she's the most badass queen ever who deserves the whole world. And it's our obligation to protect her from all the unnecessary hate. She has just the sweetest personality and even though she acts like a tough person, she can get hurt just like every other human on this planet.

Mamamoo isn't only a group of talented singers. They're very unique and special women with big hearts and a lot of love and support for their family, friends and fans. K-Pop is a strict and sometimes scary music business but even so, Mamamoo manages to be such great role models and one of the most humble celebrities I ever got to know!

A Treatise On the Doctor

I don't know how to start this. Because I think of Peter Capaldi's words when he said that the only thing required to be a Doctor Who fan, is kindness.

I like 13 and think Chibnall is doing his best job writing the show.

So I struggle to write this because I am engaging against that very unkindness in the Doctor Who fandom, and trying very hard not to be angry back. "Allways try to be nice but never fail to be kind." But I've begun to wonder more and more if those who speak so loudly against the show really know what the show itself is about.

Enough of talking about other people though, cause frankly they're only important as set-up for this conversation. And again, I'm working kind.

So here's what you're gonna learn from this lifelong fan (and the best Tl;dr you're gonna get):

1. The Doctor sucks. From the very beginning. People complain about character traits now that have been around as long as the show.

2. Due to the Doctor's suckage, they tend to do more harm than good. (And because of this, most of the Doctor's "friends" along the way have been, well, let's leave it at the air quotes for now cause it's a damn big list of "BOOOO!!!".)

3. All of the showrunners and writers and actors and editors and everyone else has allways knows this and has played it this way.

4. And last but not least, since this is a time travel show. If you wanna know what and why stuff is happening now, look it up. Everything that happened before is allways in play.

5. None of this is bad, and in fact, it makes the show morally grayer. It's about kindness at all costs. Even your own.

A. First things first, the hard thing. The Doctor is not grrrreat. I mean, sure they try, but they fail a lot more often. In Extremis, a majority of those fatality index counts come from people the Doctor failed to save. That's why it's worded so specifically as "cause of death". All the death's caused by the Doctor's very interaction with time and lack of saving those around them. And part of it's not their fault, but more often than not, the Doctor says I can save you, and can't, won't, or chooses not to.

And that would be alright, but it took them over 1000 years to realize they should start letting their companions lead lives outside of theirs so THEY DON'T DIE. A bit too long as someone who claims to be better.

Not to mention how many times the Doctor is dismissive of their companions and the people around them only to use them for their help and just bug off again. If they truly cared and wanted to help, they would stay and listen in between adventures. Their lifespan is near infinite anyway. What's a few extra Earth hours with some friends you made along the way. You know, maybe fix some of the psychological and emotional damage created by encountering things behind a human's original scope of reasoning. But nope, we gotta go adventure more, byyyyeee!!

So when people talk about these qualities in 13 in a negative aspect I have to laugh because I'm not sure if they understand the joke. Cause we're talking about an alien that grew up around a species calling themselves Time Lords. I try not to blame them too much for it. 1 had to learn how to be hospitable to humans and it's been a bit of a slow learning curve ever since.

B. After the Doctor survived the horrors of the Time War and happened upon a human companion they felt worth connecting to, what did they do? They took Rose to watch her planet burn in front of her eyes. Great, first date, amirite?

And that's a little bit of companion damage. Do you know that the Doctor is responsible for the almost complete genocide of the Silurian race across multiple occasions. I am legitimately surprised there are any left after all of the ones the Doctor has killed. Like before, they cause destruction either purposefully or accidentally or simply by force of being there.

Remember before how I said that the Doctor just flies away. Yeah, they leave a lot of problems behind when they do (something that I can see Chibnall is planting the seeds of). If you had a time and space machine and practically unlimited capabilities and you choose to just leave after a situation and not check up on them from time to or see if there are any other underlying crises to be solved. But oh no, "gotta follow that rule of time and keep going even though I stopped in the first place because of how interested I was.". This is why 9 has a great arc about this. He thought he killed all the Daleks. They came back. He thought he'd gotten rid of the Slitheen. They came back. He thought he saved Satellite 5 from aliens. But opsies, they came back. And look! They're Daleks. Which he "finally" got rid of.

The Doctor just bounces around all carefree and without an ounce of care for themselves, their companions or consequences unless there's consequences for themselves or their companions. Then they get indignant.

Is that really kind of the person you want flying around fixing things in time and space? Who knows. But at least they are trying. Most of the time the T.A.R.D.I.S. lands somewhere and the authority figures are the most pretentious bull-headed pigs you can find. To me, I laugh cause it seems like both sides end up getting a taste of their own medicine. Usually with the bull charging to death in a sad glory while the Doctor wiles on metaphorically about not being as good as them.

But again, as a "superior" alien with "advanced" technology and "culture" you'd think they'd just know better already. But that's all part of the character. The Doctor may be in flux, but true change is difficult. The real hero of every story is the other people BESIDES the Doctor.

Cause the title is Doctor *Who* . The Who being half of the title, despite having less letters. It's the constant question of "What and why and who is that crazy person that's trying to help?" Why do you think they keep flying back to Earth? (Besides set construction reasons.) They've grown as attached to us as we have to them. And at this point, a lot of their saving us is guilt and embarrassment at having a hand in our timeline.

This is also the same reason the Doctor dumps companions in a fluff. Baggage. Every time a companion gets too heavy to carry the memories of... off they fly.

Except for 13. She's stayed. To this end, we can see how the Doctor changes. Not on our smaller, human timelines, but on the timeline of a god with way too much power.

D. With that in mind, we go Classic. It's the Who you need to consult if you wish to make any critique on what's happening now. Because how can you know how a part operates inside of a whole without seeing the whole part?

Cause I don't know if you've watched it but it can be rough, and I don't mean in the sense of production value (which admittedly they do a fairly decent job of using what money they had. A problem the BBC plagues to Doctor Who to this day.). The 3rd Doctor shits on every one they call friends constantly and then turns around expecting help. 4 did the same. Then 5 masked that contempt with a plucky face and a cheeky word. But it was still there, bubbling out of 6 and 7 as the inability to suffer fools gladly and using their own righteousness to enact change in their companions. A trait that kept going til an entire war and regeneration was used solving the question of "Doctor Who?" Only for them to try and forget twice more by putting on their pretty grinning faces and running away from it.

And I'm only talking from a companion perspective. Each of the Doctors has enacted their own form of genocide on countless species. Sure, it's to "save humans" but at the end of the day you'd have to ask yourself if we're really worth that blood. And this is all in the Doctor's history. As much as they claim better, they're hands are still gushing red.

The Doctor left Jo because she fell in love. They drove Adric to put their life on the line in order to feel adequate. The entirety of the Silurian race has been wiped out fivefold under their watch, with one time by their hand itself. Same for several other singular and unique species you won't be able to find elsewhere in the universe. 7 used time travel to enact a personality change in Ace while simultaneously using her as a pawn in an interdimensional war. The Time War itself. Sure it got erased but the Doctor still did those things ("War" Doctor or whatever nonsense titles they feel necessary to delude themselves). The entirety of Amy's childhood was destroyed by their presence, and Rory got erased. Twice! Sarah Kingdom. We know the list. Hell, the Doctor whisked Barbara and Ian away because they wanted to teach the snobby humans some lessons.

They may have a time machine, but we have the bill of their actions. This is where 13 excels. Because they're trying to be better than themselves. They've learnt the lessons of all those years traveling and the failures they wish they could reverse but don't as a way of keeping a scoreboard of pain. It's not perfect by any means, but look at 12 needing cue cards to understand and react to human grief under duress. They've come a helluva long way. After 50 years, I'm inclined to believe better. After all, it's what the Doctor would want.

E. You know how people like the ASOIAF series because it offers up morally complex characters existing in a morally complex world where black and white are harder to define than grey? Have you ever thought of Doctor Who as the same? Strip past the fairytale and adventure and "wibbly wobbly timey wimeyness and it's just people reacting to situations. We're just harder on the Doctor because they're hard on us. You could go round and round on who's the bigger killer, but at the end of the day Time Lords and humans fight and feel about the same things. It's allways been a joke to pretend otherwise.

That's why I love the Timeless Child. Not for making the Doctor anymore special but for saying that even despite having all of their specialness ripped away and repurposed to create a lie of a society then having the memory wiped of said event, the Doctor broke out of their mold, stole a TARDIS and told the Time Lords to fuck off. That's not a Captain America/Superman hero. That's Batman in space with a society of Lex Luthor's. Gotham and Gallifrey. The Doctor saw what they were a part of and broke free, without even knowing the more horrifying truth. Cause it's the thing I see many fans missing because they're so preocuppied with the Doctor being special. The thing that made the Doctor different was their ability to know the difference and walk away to find better. Now, the Doctor has a reason to go back and find out why they never stopped running.

The Time Lords might be the greatest monsters in the universe. It is in the name. "Lords". Those who would lord over us and impose their will with a banthium fist.

And this is a children's show.

C the thing is, the people who made and make this show all collectively rail against one thing: Hate. Kindness is the way of Doctor's. Even if they're sawing off your leg, it's to do the kindness of saving your life. This is because the people who make this (United Kingdomers) have seen centuries of war and conflict and oppression enacted by their own country in the name of progress. And they want to see it no more. Look no further than any of the Doctor's adventures with UNIT. Allways advocating for peace and being ignored for the comfortable war-cry. It's why it's hard to blame the Doctor when we do very similar and often worse (though we don't have time travel.... yet). The creators of this show know better, see better, and wrote better, to know that the powers that be nipped would nip their creations and sanitize them. So they wrote their messages so strong that you can feel them from the future. They're powerfull enough that even across eras they have all collectively moved me to write this.

That's another point I have to laugh at people saying Doctor Who has never been in your face about progressive politics. The Green Death. Survival. Trial of a Timelord (Yes, all of it. Sit down and power through.) The Happiness Patrol is one of my all time favorite episodes for going there in this regard. People may poo poo but history has its' eyes on you. Doctor Who loves taking potshots at the issues of the day. As long as you don't make the aliens black of course. Make them all the colors of the rainbow but never make them black. That'd be too on the nose (That's something they used to say back in the day! Crazy how far we've come).

So bravoa to Chibnall for continuing the legacy of Doctor Who. From where I'm standing, he's not doing anything different than any other showrunner before him. Cause if you want to argue canon, you at least have to know what created it. This show owes what it is to those Classic eras. And if you think Chibnall is shitting on those years and your childhood.... well, then why did you read this whole thing?

I flew up off the ground into the air heading for the building I landed in the back where the building had been blown open i started fighting off the beasts till i was pinned to the ground I hit them with everything i had the including the Blasters F.R.I.D.A.Y Started talking to me Haile your taking too much impact at once the suit can't handle it you need to get out of here Haile!!

No I'm not leaving i can do this!

My head was now being slammed into the ground repeatedly i somehow manged to free my arm Blasting the 3 creature's ontop of me in the head killing them i pushed them off me and stood i could feel the blood running down my face I managed to make it into the building Shuri was still working on Vision Wanda was fighting the Creature's alone I limped my way over to her Haile! Get out of here i got this!

No Wanda I'm not leaving She blasted me out with her power's i landed outside the door on my back I laid their Trying to catch my breath when another Creature jumped on top of me I started hitting it over and over again I went to Blast it with the blaster's But nothing came out!! Ugh F.R.I.D.A.Y What the hell is going on with my suit? I told you Nathaile your suit can not take on anymore Damage I head butted the The Monster hard enough it flew up off me i got up and leaned up against the building I went to leave the area I was half way off the ground when something grabbed me by the leg pulling me back to the ground The same creature pulled me down to it slaming it's fist through the Suit stabbing me in my abdomen with it's claws I let out a Piercing Scream!!

God Damnit!! F.R.I.D.A.Y GET ME THE HELL OUT OF HERE!!! The suit lifted off the ground i was in the air i pulled my arm's from the suit and held my hands over my abdomen my hands were soaking wet from all the blood I put pressure on it grinding my teeth together It stung so bad! I laid back in the suit trying to steady my breathing

I was suddenly Blinded from a bright Blue light that lit up the sky Thor landed in the middle of the field taking out half of the Monsters Suddenly that red flashing light came across the screen System Failure The whole suit shut down I started screaming As i was now falling out of the sky.

Tony where is Haile? Mr.Stark look! We looked up in the sky Haile's suit had black smoke coming out of it as she was falling out of the sky Oh my God she's flying dead stick!! Rohdey Took off Towards her

While Peter and I faught off the Creature's watching from the ground in Horror as she fell closer and closer to Earth!

Mr.Stark He knocked the Creature to the ground What is it Peter? Look I looked up in the sky as Rohdey Caughter her They both landed a few feet from the fight their was nothing but a huge dust cloud when they hit the ground I took off over to them I landed next to them She wasn't moving Rohdey was trying to open her suit Tony i can't get the suit open F.R.I.D.A.Y Read Vitals

Sir! She has a Pulse What Happened F.R.I.D.A.Y?? The suit took all it could She wouldn't listen to me Sir I broke the suit open pulling it from her body her eyes were closed she was holding onto the side of her Abdomen I moved her hands seeing all the blood her hands fell limp on her chest

Oh God! I put my hand to the side of her face Haile? Her chest was slowly rising than falling Rhodey I need to get her out of here Stay with her I'll be right back.

I stood up flying up off the ground Peter He looked up in the sky Mr.Stark? Kid she needs you Rhodey is with her F.R.I.D.A.Y

i need another Suit here ASAP!! I looked down only seeing a few creature's left we had killed them off T'Challa i need your help It's my daughter Every Avenger stopped what they were doing And listened to Tony Talk she's dieing she's been stabbed by one of the Creatures she's losing a lot of blood!
