We know where Liliana lands in the black mana Witherbloom-Silverquill spectrum, but where would you place other mostly mono color planeswalkers?
(Not all of them, just the ones you want to talk about)
here's what i think about the original 5 gatewatch:
liliana - witherbloom. she's a necromancer, so the school of life and death is just the obvious choice. plus she's witherbloom alumni and is a professor for witherbloom now
gideon - silverquill. he's always been good at giving inspiring speeches / motivating and inspiring others with his words
nissa - quandrix. their whole thing is manipulating leylines and magical patterns, which is also nissa's whole deal.
chandra - prismari. a lot of people don't know this, but chandra is an artist! when she was a kid her dream was to become a painter before she started smuggling aether for her parents. she actually still painted in her free time when the gatewatch were all living together.
jace - lorehold. this seems a bit strange at first because lorehold is red/white, and red is an enemy color of blue, but lorehold's subject matter is what really interests jace. he's always been a big nerd for history / stories about people. but if we're strictly talking about which blue college he would be in, he'd be in quandrix with nissa.

⭐ Strixhaven NPCs Part 2 ⭐
More NPCs from my Strixhaven campaign, their blurbs are below ✨ There are A LOT of NPCs in this campaign as we're really leaning into the social element - this is my first time DMing so it can be a lot sometimes, but playing all the characters is my favourite part!
Epiphany 'Pip' Hale - The Chancellor's Secretary, she ensures that Taiva has everything he needs and isn't afraid to shoo her boss home when she finds him working too long hours.
Caspian Arygys - The party's mysterious roommate. The campus rumour mill has been in overdrive ever since it was discovered he would attending Strixhaven again after a magnificent fall from grace a few years back, the then elite student getting expelled for cheating. The party are determined to figure him out.
Killian Lu - The Prince of Silverquill, Killian is a second year student that doesn't want anything to do with the first year party, but they sure want to know about him. Unfortunately for the party, their hopes that Killian's abrasive personality was a cover for insecurity and incompetence were dashed when they discovered that he is the originator of the Silvery Barbs spell, which is invented at the age of 12 - making him a magical prodigy. 2/3 of the party want to fight this man, the remaining 1/3 wants to be his friend / kiss him. (Killian is a more prominent character in the MTG Strixhaven lore, but he's my angsty boy now, WOTC can't have him back.)
Elina Tanglewood - A third year Prismari student and captain of their Mage Tower team, Elina is also the manager of one of the campus cafes, though things have been a bit rocky lately as she's going through a long term relationship breakup with the campus sporting hero (who is currently about to go on a date with a party member, these fantasy lesbians are seconds away from disaster)
{ D&D - Strix Kicks }

So a while back I got the Ixhel precon deck and yes she can step on me at anytime and i would be happy with it BUT i finally pitted her up against several types of decks with me and my partner switching out who plays her.
and i have no friends so she'd prob be bad in 4 person commander but 1v1 was like. holy shit. she only lost 1 game out of, like, 5 we played. And it was against my drain and gain liesa deck.
im use to having to heavily modify my precons to get them to where i want them (looking at you, Prismari and now the Riviteers and new Urza) but honestly? I don't think I really need to edit her all that much. Maybe switch one or two cards around to better protect my commander and lower the overall CMC but. yeah.
wow.

Consider supporting me on ko-fi if you like this art/my ocs
long ass post of strix/mtg ocs whoops. i’ll go in order uhh
poppy hexfields, sorcerer from quandrix.  half elf/half kor she’s a legacy student, with both of her dads being prismari grads and well known artists. her bio mom turns out to be an oriq commander and its a whole thing
zdena matic aka uttu. supposedly, theyre a guildless warlock from ravnica posing as having come from the swarm, going to lorehold at strixhaven in hope to do something better with their life. in reality, they’re a shapeshifting dimir agent, planted there as a test from the spymaster before they can move up in the guild back home. (haven was their old id back in ravnica when they infiltrated rakdos)
ossian strider, another quandrix sorceror. he’s a water genasi who’s a natural in chronomancy, something that really fucked with his head before he could understand it. he came to strix on scholarship with the promise of helping him to control his abilities, but now he’s invested in learning more
and lastly, the dhampir, nikolai ‘kolya’ nirkana, whos father was a vampire assassin for the nirkana family on zendikar. previously low ranking in the family, his folks saw a raise in status after they’d lost so much in the civil war during the eldrazi attacks on the plane. he’s only half vampire, though, and was never an heir. instead, he’s followed his high school crush’s path and enrolled in at strix, learning ink magic at silverquill

Now that the Prerlease for M.O.M has come and gone and the story has been fully posted online I can finally ask this question that has been on my mind for so long! Which Legendary creature would your ocs team up with, hypothetically or otherwise, in defense of the multiverse. And if you feel like it what would their card be like?
I really wish I had finished writing up stories ideas I had for the previous sets so I could have some more named, planebound ocs.
I had planned for Nireta to have a study-group-turned-friends while she studied at Strixhaven. They are a good bunch; a Silverquill student who tried to recruit Nireta before she joined the Prismari, a Witherbloom student who bonded with Nireta's more wild upbringing, and a Lorehold student who shared Nireta's interest in old texts and philosophy. Rather than a single four or five color card I can see them each being two color and having a friends forever style mechanic.
Freimrann has angels and almost all of them do not particularly like Catrina and have had a few centuries of bad blood between them. Although with Phyrexians invading one of the more amicable archangels would choose to follow Catrina in battle and bringing their host along with them. I don't know how it'd be balanced, but I could see a four colored Angel-Human that was an angel lord with some kind of fight ability and a threshold ability feels the most correct.

Session #1
Feb 14, 2023
The day of orientation arrives, and our fated group prepares in their own ways Doya modifies her outfit with scissors, and immediately learns that the outfits can be modified magically White gets ready in a calm and orderly way Zoey zooms Rin moves his books around, and notice that Vladimir Howard's part of the room is darker Carmila gets ready at the same time as Aurora, but uses Guillermo instead of her mirror She tells Aurora that she doesn't like mirrors when asked about it The group leave their dorms, and meet up as they head towards the Commons Along the way, they pass by part of the campus under some form of construction As they walk, they see the towers and flying transportation of Lux Concordia around them all dwarfed by the massive Hexpiral tower They reach the Commons, and find a magically constructed stage there Doya approaches the group, acting friendly Carmilla and White are suspicious of that, and ask why she's trying to butter them up Doya assures the two that she sees potential in the group, and wants to be their friends The conversation is interrupted when Professor Sharpbeak speaks up from the stage, telling the group of first-year students that she has some announcements Before she begins those, a illusory play about the origins of the school is shown It tells of the dragon Kyvrydamerix, who saw how prideful dragons were but how curious humanoids were, and decided to she his knowledge with him As he worked with the humanoids, a second dragon named Auramvamiros was interested in him and his efforts, and the two eventually became mates The two dragons formed an organization among the humanoids, and approached the kings of the Kinlands asking for land for their organization The kings gave them an island, where the dragons built a tower that eventually became the Hexpiral Tower The dragons had 5 children, and made a chapter of their organization around each child
Galazeth Prismari sought out expression though elementals
Shadrix Silverquill examined light and shadow, and learned to manipulate magic through inspiration and insults
Beledros Witherbloom was the largest of the five, was interested in life and death, and worked with potions
Tanazir Quandrix was obsessed with math and reality
Velomachus Lorehold, the oldest, was interested order and chaos, and exploring events through time
The dragons eventually went off on their own adventures to explore the land, leaving the Wyrm Academy behind As the show ends, Professor Sharpbeak speaks up, telling the audience that the were going from the first headmaster to the current one, as now it was was time for Archjusticar Yasha to speak! Yasha solemnly approaches the stage, and stays quiet for a minute She assures the audience that she doesn't like this as much as they do She tells the students to stay out of trouble or else She then introduces the next speaker, saying that they are stellar, and calling out Rin for knowing them - it's Nadia! A stylish young elven woman takes the stage She thanks Yasha for the introduction, and then encourages the students to do their best She wishes the students good luck, before saying that Prismari rules and exiting the stage The member of our chosen group from Lux Concordia recognize Nadia as the officer who helped the city deal with organized crime and corruption in the Wyrm Academy, and a very young graduate of the Academy As Nadia gets off the stage, Professor Sharpbeak tells the students to go to the Biblioplex for the next step of their orientation Doya wonders what a Bibliotech is As the group head towards the Biblioplex, they talk about gum and where Carmilla is from They eventually reach the Bibliotech, which is a massive building on a pedestal made of stone As they enter, they see an incredibly busy seen with students researching, a student store, and a café A receptionist speak ups up directs students towards the Hall of Oracles The group decide to stop by the café for something to eat first They enter a small room surrounded by moving murals of trees, and a gnome woman desperately trying to keep up with orders The gnome, named Aisla, suggests the party take the meal of the day Doya pays for the entire group, claiming that she's rich now because she found a lottery ticket When questioned about it, she admits that she just got financial aid She says that she'll get a job during the schoolyear anyways, stating that she's good with money Rin counts down, and then unleashes his special technique upon some unsuspecting sandwiches He explains to the group that he had to learn to eat fast because of his siblings The group leave the café, and encounter a small construct guiding people to where they need to go They enter the main body of the library, where they see tall bookshelves and giant constructs retrieving books from the upper steps Rin chats with Vladimir Doya spots three girls hanging out in the back, and tries to talk to them They laugh at her, and tell her she wasn't invited to their club Doya assures them she has a club of her own, and points back to the group which had since spread out The girls laugh at Doya, and leave Doya obtains anxiety
After some time passes, a massive illusion of Archjusticar Yasha appears in the center of the library She dryly tells the students that the Biblioplex will be like a second home, and tells them they have one more task for orientation A list of clues appear in front of each student, which Yasha explains is a scavenger hunt As the illusion disappears, the students begin to move! The first clue deals with light Zoey sticks her hand into the light at the center of the Hall of Oracles The rest of the group follow suite, and get the first item on the list The second clue deals with commissions from alumni The group talk to one of the small constructs, named Gereme, who tells the group that the second floor of the Biblioplex is for teachers only It points the group instead to a side room where older students are working on art The group find plaques under some of the art describing how they were inspired, and a lever Pulling on the lever makes a box with a pendant appear, and is the second item on the list The third clue deals with refreshments The group go back to the café, where Aisla asks them to help manage inventory The group do, and Aisla is impressed by Carmilla, Rin, and White's skills, and give them rewards She tells them that helping out was part of the orientation, and uses magic to reset some of the mess for future students The fourth clue deals with touching plants Doya shows off her sick heelies The group travel to one of the small gardens in the Biblioplex, and spot some moving plants They pet the plants, which conjure plushies of the house mascots for them, which are the fourth item The fifth clue deals with stars born on an opening night The group kick Quentillius off the stage, and perform Carmilla monologues Doya does a cheer from a rival school Rin dances White recites a poem Zoey sings
Carmilla, White, and Zoey receive a hooded lantern, the final part of the scavenger hunt Doya and Rin grab some books off the nearby shelf, recite them, and get the reward The group hear some yelling, and Rosimy screaming that something has teeth They approach the source of the commotion, and see a chest with teeth frothing with the same black goo the rats had FIGHT! White shoots magic, Rin glows with runes, Doya gets eaten, Zoey brings her back, Carmilla's hands grow feathers, the chest is slain by one of the girls who laughed at Doya VICOTRY! As the chest is slain, the black goo retreats and the chest becomes normal again Some of the group see a figure wearing black with a masked helm floating in the air, crossing their arms The figure disappears once it notices them All the other students nearby cheer for the girl that killed it Rin helps Doya back to her feet Professor Sharpbeak and another adult show up The other adult, named Zhanti DeSantis, introduces herself as the school nurse and helps patch up the injured party members The group tell the two adults what happened and what they saw Professor Sharpbeak assures them that they'll look into it She then speaks to the whole crowd, telling them that the situation is under control She goes on to mention that there is more to orientation, mainly going to their common room Rin tastes what little of the black goo is left, and is disgusted Doya is upset that the other girl got more credit than they did Zoey goes to talk to Melwythorne He is excited about the future, and is feeling a lot better about being away from home White checks in on Rosimy, making sure she's alright and asking about what she saw The group reunite They talk about what they saw, but the conversation shifts to Doya's halo She challenges the rest of the group to try to pull on it Greta and Zoey try Vladmir asks Rin if these are really his friends The group, along with Greta and Vladimir, go to get some lunch They stop to eat in the Commmons They talk about roommates and how their first days at the dorms are going Rin mentions his weird family relationship with Vladimir The three girls that laughed at Doya show up, and the party wonder who they are A stranger walks up, and tells them that those girls met at the tests, and are close friends since The blond one is named Angelika, is supposedly half-angel, a sorceress, and has a lot of money and power The tall elf is named Angelique, apparently already knows something about everyone, the one who got a perfect score on the entrance exam, is also rich, and The genasi is named Anjarika, is allegedly also rich despite having divorced parents, and is the less academically capable of the three Half the group hate the girls on sight, the other half want to give them a chance They see Ethel walk by the three girls, and accidentally bumps into one of them The three instantly turn to Ethel, and demand to know why she thinks she's allowed to do that They start insulting her, telling her that her name doesn't fit, and changing her nametag to say Agetha and calling her a hag When Ethel starts getting mad, they say she's being hot-headed, pour water on her head, and push her Ethel reaches her breaking point, and begins to cast a spell
She is counterspelled by Professor Sharpbeak, who came to get the students to their common rooms The three girls play innocent, and act like Ethel started it Doya throws up in the bushes, but then tells the rest of the group that she is impressed with their bullying technique She admits to wanted to be cool like them The rest of the group disagree The stranger who told them about the girls tells Doya that's not going to happen The stranger, who introduces herself as Larine, seems a bit out of sorts Doya explains to the rest of the group that bullying in girl's schools works differently The conversation shifts to their common rooms, where the entire group realizes they are in Class A They head towards the common room for Class A Along the way, Zoey bumps into a beastkin boy He gets upset, and acts like he's going to hit her Doya tries to stand up for her friend The group eventually reach the room for Class A They see a lot of familiar faces, and some new ones Doya has some people swap seats so that she can be surrounded by smart people Professor Sharpbeak walks in, and introduces herself She explains that this will be their main classroom, but today is just for introductions Zoey volunteers to introduce herself first, and expresses her happiness to know everyone Carmilla says hi Doya assures the class that she will be the most popular The three girls laugh Rin explains that he's the one that Yasha called out earlier, and that he wants to see the world A human named Grayon says that he is from New Simea White makes a brief introduction and states he's here for Chronomancy The other students introduce themselves, most of which are familiar to the party A Shitari named Haru Haruharu mentions that she's a transfer student here to study An armored loxodon named Bhedum Soovij, also called Rampart states that he's here for adventure Ethel gets bullied again A hobgoblin named Dhazari Rex introduces herself An elf named Cad is excited to meet the class Chadriz, the beastkin who threatened Zoey, doesn't seem interested in saying much A strange gnome named Puffcap introduces herself A dhampir named Nicollin being to give an entire essay about himself He is interrupted when a halfling enters the room Professor Sharpbeak asks if the halfling is Santino Sierraverde He confirms, but insists on being called Sunny Carmilla panics

Eiraden was born half Movanic Deva (father; Eremiel) and half Human (mother; Ardan). On her 7th birthday, both her father and mother were slain by the Goddess of Darkness, Shar, who she was then abducted by. Eiraden lived under Shar for the next ten years of her life. Following her evil lifestyle, thus turning Eiraden into a Fallen Aasimar, unknowingly.
As Eiraden grew, her father, who had made it to the Prime Material Plane before dying, was able to briefly talk to her from his plane, but that's all he could do. On the eve of her 17th birthday, her father, being a Movanic Deva, was once again able to manifest a corporeal form. With this, he was able to help her escape from Shar once and for all.
Shar still speaks to Eiraden and threatens that she is going to get her back one way or another. Her father, fearing this, sent Eiraden to the safest place he could think of, Strixhaven, a place full of magical beings. He figured so many in one place would keep Shar at least physically away for now. She has also been given an eyepatch blessed by the god Denier who she worships. The eyepatch holds back Shar's attachment to her and her physical corruption is stopped while it is on.
Eiraden is a student of Lorehold and works as a book shelver at the Biblioplex
Eiraden is dating Quentillius A. Melentor III, a student of Prismari at Strixhaven and has a familiar named Varian who is usually in the form of a weasel. She is rarely seen without these two
Eiraden knows the languages Celestial, Common, Draconic,  Elvish, Primordial, Undercommon and is in the Dead Language Society at Strixhaven

I hate so many of the words you just used
Her smile dimmed, like a flickering candle of joy that the orcish fellow was determined to snuff out. Her gaze drifted, slowly, from him to the supplies she carried in her arms.
"Oh... Okay, then."
The mass of cosmic material she kept for hair wavered behind her, somehow becoming less shiny and sparkling as a few of the stars snuffed out. A dark purple slowly crept in at the bottom of her hair, also growing at the tips of her fingers, toes, her nose, and her ears. Effy then pursed her lips, rocking back on her heels for a moment before turning to the left, intent on carrying on without Grey.
"That's okay! Sorry to bother you then, Mister Grey!" She chirped, though her heart wasn't in it. Effy had suggested making a welcome banner for the other new arrivals at Strixhaven, listing off the supplies she had grabbed. The Prismari place had everything from glitter, to paints, laces, and sparkles... She had thought it would be a good idea, and Grey had mentioned missing a few people still that he hoped would show up.
Taking a step away, Effy smiled once more at the half-orc before skipping off, likely to complete the banner on her own now.

Strixhaven students revealed
Tumblr media
As for Quint, he spends most of his time inside the grand Biblioplex, digging through old books for the purpose of his research. "His mind is piled high with facts and knowledge that might become useful. Being a Lorehold student, his magic usually comes from scrolls or a tome; blasting out like bladed sharp paper golden energy."
"He views the accuracy of historical accounts as extremely important—the truth is also a priority to him as it enables the preservation of facts rather than myths. He is at Strixhaven University on a scholarship but supplements his remaining tuition fees through working on a dig site with a team of researchers. Quint wishes to learn about the history and past of the loxodon race through uncovering great unknowns. He studies hard with the aim to make a name for himself and his family. While being a committed student, he suffers from wanderlust, always feeling the need and desire to travel and explore. He wants to find out who he really is and believes he can do so through his expeditions of significant historical places."

"Zimone Wola is a female mage-student of Quandrix College, she is a brilliant and bright prodigy who entered Strixhaven at a younger age than most. Due to her high level of intellect, she flew through her studies in school, passing endless tests of magical study that were way beyond her years. She has recently chosen her college, now becoming a second year Quandrix mage-student much to the delight of her professors, who are keen for the talented whizz to attend their classes. While part of Quandrix, she remains friends with two girls she met in first year; one who has chosen Prismari and the other who will be attending Silverquill.
"Zimone wears patterned uniforms like the rest of Quandrix; it is layered and complex, reflecting what she loves. Her goal is to crack the Vorzani Conjecture; a famous and unsolved magical theorem that students and professors at Quandrix have been trying to figure out for decades. Zimone can often be found inside the great Biblioplex – finding books to help solve the theorem.
"Her mind is her most powerful weapon which enables her intellectual expansion. Her physical magic is shown as fractals and mathematical interpretations of natures. Intellect runs in her family – her grandmother was once a Quandrix professor but due to unclear circumstances, she has not been seen at Strixhaven University for many years. Even though Zimone is smart, sometimes she can feel uncertain. She struggles to deal with unknown mysteries, particularly ones relating to her own family. Her time at Strixhaven will help her figure out who she is, but it will be the challenges she faces that will allow her to decide who she wants to be."

"Dina is a Witherbloom mage-student, a female dryad with a wicked sense of humor that more than often edges on the darker side. She doesn’t worry or watch what she says and speaks the thoughts in her mind as they come, never giving a moment to consider whether she might be out of place with her words. Even though she is quick-witted and confident, she is attentive, making her an excellent tutor to other students. However, her teaching methods can sometimes be a little out there, like her."
She spends her time at Sedgemoor, the swampy marshlands on the college campus. She wears clothing mainly colored black, green, and brown. This is all fitting for a dryad, mind you. She relies on her professors for guidance, as Dina has no family. She carries a salamander-like creature with her and uses its essence to channel her magic.

The preeminent Silverquill is competitive and strong-willed, with the courage to lead and the mental acuity to reckon with the cost.
All of those features can be found in Killian Lu, a human mage-student in his second year at the Silverquill College of Eloquence. Handsome features, a sharp jaw and his immaculate midnight black hair might immediately draw the eye - not to mention the always-dashing monotone suit - but his implacable determination and work ethic have engendered him to both his peers and Strixhaven’s faculty.
Some might say that pressure is a direct result of having the Silverquill dean as a father - the master poet is reportedly a stern man who drives his son to graduate at the top of his class. Rigid discipline and an ever-watchful eye catches any of Killian’s mistakes, and his father is quick to remind him of the lineage of inkmasters that comprise the Lu ancestry. Killian’s failures are his father’s failures - and that of the family, by extension. Weakness in any pursuit is simply not an option.
Killian trains in secret to address his shortcomings and only ever displays a detached professionalism for his fellow students and teachers. Whether due to his father’s constant vigil or his own desire to master both the light and dark elements of Silverquill’s trademark magic, Killian vows to only ever make a mistake once. If only he didn’t find the light so difficult to embrace.

"Rootha Squallheart is a female orc and mage student of Prismari. She is a unique and distinct individual with long vibrant coloured hair and skin tinted with red and blue hues. Her clothes are expressive and dramatic, often consisting of scarlet fire and aqua-blue water elements. The clothes mix as though she were a painted ocean of lava. Rootha is unsurprisingly artistic, but can sometimes be hot-tempered, matching the flames she wears.
Rootha has trouble completing her work and handing it in on time for critique, most of her professors have little choice but to chase her down on campus to warrant a glimpse. She claims that her work is never ready – forever conscious that it isn’t quite right. In true self-critic style, Rootha commonly becomes infatuated with a great visionary idea which she spends weeks working on…only to decide she hates it causing her to destroy her creation in mere moments.
With her mother, Samara Squallheart, being a famous, talented caster, Rootha is under pressure to live up to the achievements of the rest of her family line – Rootha being the fifth generation of Prismari student in her family. She carries a heavy weight on her artistic shoulders and the constant link and expectations caused by her family can be frustrating, sometimes anger inducing. She wishes to break free from her family association and follow her own style. Her mother could wave intricate sculptures made from ice and water, but Rootha has wild magic; she is able to flash freeze water in one magnificent burst. She is learning to embrace her wild magic to push herself beyond her limits to seek recognition and fame for her own creations rather than those of her ancestors."

86. Do their senses differ any from your average human?
97. Do they carry any items from planes other than their home?
16. Is there any type of magic your character can’t do but would like to be able to do?
Cheater answer is Elrick would like to planeswalk again xD
Tali wants as many magical abilities possible, but most especially she would love to be able to shapeshift. It would make disguising herself and getting into forbidden areas much easier.
30. How did your character obtain their magic or defining abilities?
Hmm I feel a little boring with this one just because everyone kind of just innately had their magic and worked to train/refine it as they got older. Oh I guess Tali wasn’t born with her spark. She stole it from [redacted]!
40. What strategy would your character play , if they actually played Magic?
Rhynn would play creature-based strategies for sure. Elrick would probably be control. Tali would be combo and maybe start with group hug to lull a false sense of security. Helis maybe mana ramp into burn. Penny probably would try to just make the weirdest thing to see if she could get it to work.
41. Who would be their favorite commander to play, if they played commander?
This one is funny because like, they know canon characters. Would they pick them? For the sake of argument I’m going to pretend they don’t know any of the characters personally and just go with playing.
Rhynn: Volo, Guide to Monsters; Elrick played Leovold before he was banned and now plays Yarok, the Desecrated; Helis plays Lord Windgrace; Penny plays Esika, God of the Tree; Tali would play Yuriko, the Tiger’s Shadow
46. How does your character cast magic, and what does it look like?
Helis is a very physical caster so he is always moving around when he does his magic. He doesn’t quite dance, per se, but rhythmic motions help him concentrate and direct his magic (this is something he works on with the Prismari eventually). When Helis uses his pyromancy or his mana generation magics his feathers glow around the edges.
54. What is your character’s ideal weather and temperature range?
Penny likes a sunny 75 (F) day! Just a few big puffy clouds for fun shapes, tiny breeze for coolness and dramatic effects, and low humidity!
Lena likes sunny but cool days the best; think mid 40s to lower 50s (F). Cold enough to discourage mischief, warm enough so people aren’t desperate for heat, and sunny keeps people in good spirits.
60. Does your character have a quirk of language when they talk? An expression? An accent?
So Rhynn is a biiiiig hand talker. It’s a common trait among the Dromoka clan; since the humanoids are usually fluent in Draconic and communicate regularly with their Scalelords, the humanoids (consciously or subconsciously) mimic dragon wing movements when then talk. She has learned to tone it down a bit but she still slips into when she is extra tired, excited, or agitated.
Elrick never lost his proper speaking from growing up on Fiora and still enjoys speaking elegantly.
Lena subconsciously clicks her tongue if she’s lost in thought or when switching between topics.
72. How does your character earn money? How well-off are they?
Elrick used planeswalking to his advantage throughout his long life for some wealth accumulation. A huge chunk of his wealth came from his revenge on the assassin guild that killed his family on Fiora. After he took them out he cleared their entire coffers and stashed the contents off-world. While he’s no petty thief he was not above crime in his younger days and would also stash things away he really liked. Luckily he moved all his wealth to Ravnica before he lost his spark and was very clever about how he stashed it so as not to cause too much suspicion. While he doesn’t need to from a money perspective, he also now runs a very successful potion and ingredients apothecary shop.
Helis does odd jobs to make money. He is a pretty decent cook and often picks jobs involving food. He also enjoys any jobs he can get that make use of his fire powers.
86. Do their senses differ any from your average human?
Rhynn has empathic abilities that let her read the feelings of creatures if she reaches out to them. Mostly this only works on animals (she hasn’t really tried it on humanoids though because the idea makes her a little uncomfortable) and nature spirits. If she concentrates on the world around her she can use this sense to navigate unknown places.
97. Do they carry any items from planes other than their home?
Rhynn has a little bit of everything xD She uses an elven short-sword she got from Elrick as her usual non-magic weapon. She tries to always get her boots from Zendikar (leather is just sturdier there it seems, and super comfy). Her main pack she brings everywhere was made in Theros.
Thanks for asking! :D

Recently I had a lot of fun designing a custom Mox for one of my ocs, and it got me thinking. If you designed a Mox themed around one of your ocs, what sort of precious metal, stone or gem would it be based around. Could you describe it's appearance, how it worked mechanically?
"So, what's the story behind that chunk of silver you keep playing with?" Callum asked, breaking my concentration. I froze as I realized that I had my necklace out from underneath my shirt and the chunk of moonsilver attached to the cord was in my hand. Now I panicked on how to best answer him.
Callum is planebound, and while everyone at Strixhaven seems uncharacteristically accepting and generally knowledgeable of the multiverse, I was apprehensive about telling him that I was a planeswalker. I needed to tell enough truth to satisfy his curiosity but not too much to lead to more questions. I slowly lifted my head from my book, my hand now clenched around the smooth sliver of moonsilver.
"This? Oh, it's just something from home. It's from the m... some celestial body." I responded. I went to put it back beneath my shirt but Callum shifted closer to me, curiosity lighting his mismatched eyes.
"Can I get a closer look?" I mentally kicked myself. So much for not piquing his interest. Reluctantly I opened my hand. His callused fingers brushed against my palm as he gently plucked it from my palm.
I tried not to squirm as we were forced closer together but the short cord of the necklace was still around my neck. Callum reminds me a lot of Patroclus, both of them being driven, adventurous, and a bit impulsive. Patroclus didn't come to Strixhaven with me and I think I was latching my feelings for Patroclus onto Callum due to their similarities in personality. It also didn’t help that Callum was handsome. Patroclus and I had never been apart for this long since he happened upon me on Theros. This was our first test of whether our relationship was just a summer infatuation or something more.
"Oh, what are you looking at?" We both jumped at the voice, Callum's twitch nearly pulling me out of my chair. Tillane, our giantess friend leaned across the table to try to get a better look at my necklace as Callum pushed me back onto my chair. Tillane was an anomaly. I've never met a giant who was so easy to overlook. She was very meek and almost apologetic about her size.
"Ayden's necklace that he plays with all the time. It's a chunk of silver that I'm pretty sure he wore smooth." Callum teased, shooting me his crooked grin. I rolled my eyes at him. "It feels weird though. My hand felt all tingly when I held it."
I frowned at him. Why would moonsilver have that effect on him? I didn't feel anything like that. Tillane was already pulling out her magnifying spectacles and looking askance at me. I sighed and took off my necklace. It looked absolutely tiny in her dark hand, but she handled it with the expert delicacy of an antiquarian. Callum had dragged me to see some of the art and architecture she'd restored when I wasn't doing my Prismari work. Some of the statues she'd restored were in such pristine condition you couldn't tell it harkened back to the Blood Age.
Tillane thoroughly inspected the moonsilver, periodically changing the lenses of her spectacles. Callum and I sat there somewhat patiently for her to finish, our homework forgotten. Granted my homework for the couple of Lorehold classes I was taking was so I could take a break from my frustration with my Prismari homework. And hiding in the Biblioplex meant that no one was going to shout at me for losing control of one of my pieces of art and creating a rogue storm elemental.
"It holds mana." Tillane quietly announced when she finished her inspection.
"What?" Callum and I said simultaneously. The slightly pained expression on Tillane's face was the closest she'd get to a reproachful look.
"This definitely isn't normal silver..."
"Yeah, Ayden said it was from a celestial body. Weren't you listening?" Again, that slightly pained look.
"I'm sorry I was more focused on my studies than making eyes at Ayden." Callum and I both turned beet red. "Anyway, Ayden is so used to the mana in the silver that I'm not surprised he really doesn't notice it. But that's why it feels itchy to you Callum. When you draw on mana, it's almost like an adrenaline rush for you. Mana to you is action. My guess is that Ayden's been unconsciously infusing it with mana for years until it's been able to produce a minor amount of its own."
Callum and I still stared at her in shock, which caused her to flush in embarrassment at our attention. To further make her point, she closed one hand around the necklace and with her other drew forth mana into a gentle white glow in her palm. Callum recovered first and held his hand out for my necklace.
Tillane carefully set it onto his palm. Callum closed his eyes in concentration. When he reopened them they glowed with a red-gold light reminiscent of the spirits common to Lorehold. As he handed the necklace back to me, his eyes cleared of the magic, a pensive look on his face.
I looked down at it in awe. I've had the sliver of moonsilver since I was teen. Moonsilver was rare and greatly coveted on Innistrad for its many uses against the monsters that stalk humanity. I'd hidden my sliver when I found it in the garden at Thraben Cathedral. Any little bit that was found was given to the lunar smiths to forge into anything our priests and cathars could use. When I'd been sent away from the cathedral I took it with me, constantly fiddling with it as a way to take comfort during Avacyn's disappearance. One of the cathars noticed me playing with it and instead of scolding me for keeping it, she knotted a cord around one end of the sliver and turned it into a necklace for me.
Now that I focused on it, I could feel the slight energy in it, the feeling of potential. I reached into it and that feeling magnified. I felt the typical prickle of mana, but I realized that was how white mana felt to me. I smelled ozone if i focused more on the red mana i drew upon for my lightning magic, the nebulous ephemerality of blue mana for my wind and scrying magic, the wild strength of green, and the oily hungering of black mana. I released the small amount of mana I'd drawn from the moonsilver into a tiny gust of wind that sent the pages of our books fluttering.
"I do believe Ayden that you have unintentionally made a mox. I've read about them. They're typically mana infused jewels or precious stones, though they typically only produce one type of mana, not all five. I'd hypothesize that because your silver is from a celestial body, that it has some sort of special property that allows it to do that. It's certainly not as powerful as the moxes I’ve read about, but it's still an amazing feat that you managed to produce that without conscious effort."
"Damn!" Callum said, looking at me all impressed. "Imagine what that could've been if you'd actually known what you were doing."
So I decided to give you a story. And introduce some Strixhaven OC's for whenever I eventually get back to writing more.

Fate and Phantasms #176
Tumblr media
Today on Fate and Phantasms we are once again making Fran Kenstein of “beating up Victor Frankenstein” fame. This time she’s hitting the race track, but since we’ve already made the Babbage Locomotive Form, we only have to worry about her new summer skills.
To make those happen, Fran is still a Storm Herald Barbarian to add a jolt of electricity to her fighting style, but she’s also a Mage of Prismari Sorcerer from the new unearthed arcana to charge her fancy new sword until it’s too hot to handle.
Check out her build breakdown below the cut, or her character sheet over here!
Next up: Team Desert Beauty!
Race and Background
Fran’s a bunch of corpse bits given an unholy simulacrum of life, so now that Reborn exist we’ll be using those. This makes you a Medium Humanoid/Undead with Darkvision, a Deathless Nature that makes you tougher to kill thanks to advantage on your death saves and the ability to ignore eating, drinking, and breathing. You also don’t need to sleep, and can’t be put to sleep via magic. Like a mix between elves and warforged, you can finish a long rest in 4 hours while still being conscious. You also gain Knowledge from a Past Life, which lets you add 1d6 to a skill check Proficiency times per long rest.
Also, you get +2 Strength and +1 Dexterity.
For your background, we’re going with a modified version of Athlete for Acrobatics and Persuasion proficiency. Just play up the daddy routine and everything will probably be fine.
Ability Scores
You might not be a berserker any more, but your Strength is still top notch, taking the first place spot. Your Charisma gets a boost though, turns out being able to talk helps you talk to people. Your Dexterity and Constitution come next though, because you are still fighting in wildly inappropriate clothing for armed combat. Your Wisdom is a bit low, you’re mostly just focused on finding the next bit of AC, but we’re dumping Intelligence. The class change didn’t make you smarter, just more coherent.
Class Levels
1. Barbarian 1: Starting off as a barbarian lets you fight in a bikini thanks to your Unarmored Defense giving you an AC based on your dexterity and constitution. You can also Rage as a bonus action to make yourself a martial powerhouse, dealing extra damage on strength based attacks, getting advantage on strength based checks and saves, and resisting physical damage for up to a minute as long as you keep taking or dealing damage.
You also get proficiency with Strength and Constitution saves, plus Animal Handling and Athletics.
2. Barbarian 2: Second level barbarians can make Reckless Attacks, getting advantage on all attacks this turn in exchange for giving advantage to anyone attacking you this round. Despite your reckless nature, you also get a Danger Sense, giving you advantage on dexterity saves you see coming.
3. Barbarian 3: At third level you can charge up your fancy new sword thanks to your Storm Aura, which gives you one of three effects while raging. If you choose a desert aura, you deal fire damage to every other creature within 10′ of you when you start to rage or as a bonus action while raging. If you choose sea, you can deal lightning damage to one creature in that same area, or half that damage if they succeed on a saving throw. If you choose tundra, creatures of your choice get temporary HP. Early on I’d go with the sea aura, but later I’d suggest you switch over to tundra. Either way, you can always swap your aura when you level up in barbarian.
4. Sorcerer 1: Now that you can load your sword, it’s time you learn how to overload it. As a first level Prismari sorcerer, you can cast Spells using your Charisma modifier, but you also get Creative Skills, giving you proficiency in Nature and Performance. You also get Kinetic Artistry, letting you dash as a bonus action Proficiency times per long rest. You can use a Boreal Sweep to move across water and force strength saves on creatures you move near, knocking them prone if they fail, or you can take a Thunderlight Jaunt to move through creatures and avoid opportunity attacks. However, the real reason we’re taking this class is for the Scorching Whirl, which lets you release a burst of fire during your turn. All creatures within 5′ of you make a dexterity save or take a bit of fire damage.
The reason we’re here for the Scorching Whirl is simple- the desert storm aura doesn’t deal damage to yourself, but this does. It was either this or we take like 14 levels of wizard for overchannel. Plus, this is literal fire damage, I couldn’t say no to that.
Speaking of wizards, let’s segue over to the spells you get, shall we? Grab Lightning Lure and Shocking Grasp for a bit of easy electricity, Absorb Elements for some galvanism, Sword Burst for more sword per sword, and Friends, because you’re just a really nice person. You also get Mage Armor for a marginally better AC.
5. Barbarian 4: Magic’s cool, but we’re going to bounce back over to barbarian real quick for our first Ability Score Improvement. Use this one to bring up your Constitution for more HP, better AC, and more accurate lightning strikes.
6. Barbarian 5: Fifth level barbarians get an Extra Attack each attack action, and you can use your Fast Movement to get an extra 10′ with each move action. It’s literally a race, so you’ve got to squeeze as much in per turn as you can.
Also, all your storm auras are stronger now.
7. Sorcerer 2: Now we got back to sorcerer to become a Font of Magic for sorcery points that will be useful next level. You can also cast Burning Hands for a more controlled release of your sword’s overcharge.
8. Sorcerer 3: Third level sorcerers can use their sorcery points on Metamagic to alter their spells. Transmuted spells can change their damage type from one kind to another, we’re mostly using it so your spells can be fire or lightning as you need it. You also get Subtle spells, so you can cast them without verbal or somatic components. Wielding a greatsword is not conducive to spellcasting. Usually.
You also get Magic Weapon to make your weapon a bit magic against resistances. Papa made that for you himself, it’s pretty good.
9. Barbarian 6: Sixth level barbarians get a Storm Soul that gives you benefits even while you aren’t raging. Desert gives you fire resistance, so that’s right out. Sea gives you lightning resistance as well as a swimming speed and the ability to breathe underwater. I mean, you are in a bathing suit after all. Tundra gives you cold resistance, and the ability to ignore extreme cold. If anything, Fran would be grateful for the chance to cool off. You can also turn water into ice, but nothing’s perfect.
10. Barbarian 7: Now that you’re seventh level, you can move up to half your movement speed when you rage thanks to your Instinctive Pounce. You also get a Feral Instinct giving you advantage on initiative rolls, and you can’t be surprised if you go into a rage first thing. Again, it’s a race- the first one off the starting line gets a huge advantage.
11. Sorcerer 4: Use this ASI to grab the War Caster feat for cantrip attacks of opportunity, advantage on concentration saves, and most importantly the ability to cast spells while holding a weapon. I know we already have subtle spell for that, but this saves on points.
You also get some more spells- Message will help you keep in touch with your pit crew, and Knock is just kicking down doors. I really didn’t have another spell that you could use at this level, sorry.
12. Sorcerer 5: Fifth level sorcerers get third level spells, like Lightning Bolt for a big ol’ blast of lightning (or fire. thanks transmuted spell).
13. Sorcerer 6: Sixth level prismari mages get a Favored Medium, choosing between cold, fire, and lightning each long rest. You get resistance to that damage type, and after casting a leveled spell that deals that kind of damage, so do each creature you choose within 5′ of you for a little bit.
This is especially useful since you can now cast Fireball for a big ol’ blast of fire (or lightning, thanks transmuted spell). For accuracy’s sake, this should be centered on yourself.
14. Barbarian 8: We’re back in barbarian to stay now, and to celebrate use this ASI to grab the Slasher feat. This rounds out your Strength scores, and once per turn you can slow down any creature you hit with a slashing attack by 10′. Also, scoring a critical hit with slashing damage gives that creature disadvantage on attack rolls for the round.
15. Barbarian 9: Your Brutal Critical lets you add an extra die of damage to critical hits. Brutal.
16. Barbarian 10: Tenth level storm heralds have stronger storm auras, and you can also turn them into Shielding Storms. Each creature of your choice inside your storm aura gets resistance to the kind of damage your storm soul protects you from.
17. Barbarian 11: Thanks to your Relentless Rage you now have a guts skill, so if you would drop to 0 HP you can instead make a DC 10 constitution save to stay at 1 HP instead. Whether you succeed or not, the DC increases by 5 until your next short rest.
18. Barbarian 12: Use this ASI to beef up your Charisma for stronger spells and so more people like you. Maybe now you can beat Nero in a leg of the race...
19. Barbarian 13: You get another Brutal Critical for even stronger critical hits. It ain’t much, but it’s honest work.
20. Barbarian 14: At fourteenth level, you turn into a Raging Storm, giving you -you guessed it- one of three benefits depending on which storm aura you’re using. The desert aura lets you spend a reaction after getting hit to force a dexterity save on whatever hit you, dealing fire damage to them if they fail. The sea aura forces a strength save as a reaction when you hit a creature, knocking them prone if they fail. The tundra aura forces a strength save on one creature as part of your aura activation. Failing it reduces their speed to 0 for a round. Boom, stun mechanic! And all it took was 20 levels!
Pros:
While running the character as intended will involve focusing a lot on lightning damage, you’re extremely flexible thanks to the multifaceted nature of both your subclasses. Basically, as long as you know how to mix things up, you’ll never be completely useless like some elemental builds can get.
You also still have all the speed of your berserker counterpart, with the ability to move through water and dash as a bonus action built in. Also, Thunderlight Jaunt lets you move through crowds, which is its own kind of useful.
This build has plenty of options for support by covering your allies in the same kind of elemental resistances that you’re using thanks to your Storm Aura and Favored Medium.
Cons:
Your bonus action ends up pretty crowded, with your storm aura and kinetic artistry both fighting for the position.
The multiclassing, plus all those feats we got, means your magical effects aren’t that powerful, especially not your storm aura. On a related note, your AC isn’t able to get that high either, making you an easy target.
Adding to the low AC problem from the last bullet point, this build’s all about being reckless with spell damage and throwing yourself into fireballs and scorching whirls, which isn’t necessarily a smart move when you’ve got less than 200 HP and an AC of 14/15.

Now that strixhaven has been fully spoiled, can you give us your thoughts on the set in general and/or the colleges in specific?
Set in general: I love it! I really like the idea of magic schools, always have. It’s the reason why I made a magic academy AU for Ravnica (that I haven’t paid attention to recently, oops.....) I don’t vibe with any college as perfectly as I do with the Simic Combine, but I’m happy that Strixhaven shows aspects of enemy-colored identity that Ravnica maybe didn’t go into as much. I know some people who click better with Strixhaven colleges than Ravnican guilds, which is great for them!
Lorehold: Quint is an absolute cutie and I would love to be his friend! The non-combat focused approach to Boros is really, really neat. And I always appreciate white embracing some form of undeath. The spirits are just chilling! Good for them!
Prismari: Izzet is the guild of creativity, so I’m super glad they leaned into that! I have a bunch of artistic Izzet friends, so... can confirm. Also, someone please give Rootha a hug... she needs it.........
Quandrix: ZIMONE IS MY BABY AND IF THE ORIQ LAY A FINGER ON HER I AM GOING TO COMMIT MANSLAUGHTER. Fractals are adorable, and I’m all for the beauty of math. Unfortunately, I can’t connect to it completely because I have a nasty history with the subject, but I can appreciate its elegance from a distance. +1/+1 counters! Woo! I do kind of wish it had some wack new mechanic, though, because people are still out here like hurr durr simic is the same as usual
Silverquill: More of that black ink. It’s probably nothing. The racist stereotyping that happened with Killian throws off my impression of this college. A lot of Silverquills in the story and flavor text sound like arrogant pricks, but I don’t want to malign the whole college because of that. Words are cool. Bards are nice. Vicious Mockery is always great.
Witherbloom: This college perfectly embodies my long-held opinion that biomancy and necromancy belong together. Also, a lot of the flavor texts... sound like things I would actually say? Mechanically it feels kinda weird to me because I’m so used to life total not mattering (infect baby), and lifegain still feels eh to me, but maybe it being flavored as essence manipulation will make it better.
also
wotc please i Need to know more about arcavios the plane sounds so cool

Mun’s Ask: RP Edition | status: open
@yuanre asked:
10. Are there any fandom(s) you avoid roleplaying in?  18. What’s the one thing you want to try the most on your blog? 22. If you could recommend at least five blogs to your followers, who would they be?
Tumblr media
10. None specifically that I can think of. There are several fandoms I’ve heard nightmare stories about, but they weren’t fandoms I would have ever interacted with to begin with, so it doesn’t matter much.
18. I’m not sure to what this pertains, but harking back to the last ask I really do want to sprinkle some OCs in this bish. The C-Drama fandom does OCs so damn well it just so inspiring — I really need to step up my OC game! I’d also like to try having actual character profiles for once -stares at unfinished character bio pages-
22. Oh this is really hard. There are so many. Please, no one take offense if your name does not wind up on here. I admire all of my followers so much, so I’m just gonna pick five people (in no particular order) that I interact with a lot/have a lot of headcanons around:
@battleguqin — Nyx was the first person to follow me in the C-Drama fandom over on my LWJ blog ( @ofwindsweptpines ) and I absolutely adore her. She has an excellent grasp on her Sizhui and I have so much fun writing and headcanoning with her. 10/10 would recommend, absolute sweetheart.
@aeipathic — Rhys is a gem. A complete treasure. Their writing is top notch, and I can’t say enough about their characterization. They have such a range and flexibility with their muses, and flows between them with just admirable fluency. They are also a really stellar person OOC and I enjoy chatting with them so much. Great friend and wonderful RP partner. I can’t wait to torture them with angst my love forever. You should too!
@prismaris / @necrrot / @ziyoue — Burd’s OC game is real. God I am constantly in awe of his creativity and range. And the ART!! My god the art is incredible. Burd inspires me so much in so many ways, and I just can’t recommend him enough.
@evcryopeneye — Sammie my Scottish sweetheart~ Sammie takes some seriously underrated characters and just applies so much love and tender care to them, and really makes them shine!! I consider myself lucky every day to have her as a friend and an RP partner, and she’s amazing for humoring a very unpopular ship for my sake (MWAH!) Be sure to go give her love if you don’t already!
@moonlitimmortal / @nobilitylost / @asunas-embers — this is a little bit cheating, but many of the people I listed have been around long enough to follow one another, so I’m gonna list some people who are new to my blog/dash that some of my old followers might not know/have interacted with yet. - Pandi’s OC Sun Anle is a beautiful MDZS-based character that mixes some fantasy aspects with more cultivational aspects, and would fit in so easily with so many different verses. Mun is a real sweetheart that so kindly gave my best girl smooches without question. Big plus.  - KRex has been in my DMs since I met them screaming with me about fandom things and I’ve decided I’m keeping them. Beautiful writer and highly suggestible to new C-Drama suggestions -greedy raccoon hands- - Emily’s Asuna is a Mortal Kombat OC with a very impressively crafted background. I know next to nothing about MK lore, but they make me want to read more into it (which is saying a lot for an OC!) She’s working on C-Drama verses for Asuna and from what I’ve seen so far they’re excellent and well worth exploring. I can’t wait to explore more!
:Bonus: If y’all don’t follow the mun who sent this ask ( @yuanre / @xingzuoyu ) , do it right now. Ni is an absolute gem and an incredible writer. Their love for Boya (and all of their muses) knows no bounds, and they are just one of the sweetest and most generous people I’ve met. They also make beautiful edits! Holy crap I’ve been spoiled with some amazing aesthetics.

Strixhaven Students: Witherbloom
In this five-part series, I’ll be creating a brand new Dungeons and Dragons character who would call one of the colleges of Strixhaven home. Each character will be built using content released in either published books or in Unearthed Arcana (UA) documents, such as the recently released Mages of Strixhaven UA.
Today, I’d like to introduce you to Aidlyn Liadon, Greenkeeper Apprentice.
Tumblr media
Bloom Tender, art by Chippy
Aidlyn grew up in the forests of Doradur, an area on the western coast of Orrithia. Along with her adoptive mothers and her three siblings, she helped care for a grove of the rare Brithinan tree, which are prized for their golden and lush fruit that grew ripe in the waning days of summer. From a young age, she learned through the loving guidance of her mother Ashari how to nurture young saplings: fertilizing them with earth mixed with Cervin dung and ground-up Horntop mushrooms. She also learned how to carefully prune the older trees from her mother Atrisa, coaxing the trees into shapes that allowed each tree in the grove enough room to grow and have enough sunlight. And it was in the family grove that Aidlyn first grew into her magical powers as a druid, a conduit between the natural world and those fortunate to walk amongst it.
People from across Orrithia, including many who called Strixhaven their home, would come to share in the delicious fruit that grew on their trees. Aidlyn tended to shy away from these interactions, finding comfort in the farther reaches of the grove. However, one late-spring day she had an experience that changed her life forever. A woman, who called herself Professor Oynx, came to visit. The Brithinan trees were still in bloom, so there were few other visitors on this particular day. As the woman walked among the trees and sampled the blossoms, she came across Aidlyn, who was weaving a spell of growth into a sapling that was having a particularly hard time growing. Impressed with the young elf’s magery, the woman invited Aidlyn to attend the far-off school, indicating that the lessons there could help with the work in the grove.
After discussing with her family, Aidlyn decided she would try to attend. While she was a little apprehensive about leaving her home, she hoped the knowledge she would gain at the school would be of help for the nurture of the grove when she returned. She was accepted, and, while there, the opportunities presented helped her to blossom in her own way.
Starting Stats (using the Standard Array)
Strength: 10
Dexterity: 13
Constitution: 14
Intelligence: 12
Wisdom: 15
Charisma: 8
Through her early years, Aidlyn learned much under the tutelage of her mothers. She excelled at being attentive of her surroundings; as a nature mage, her wisdom is what guides her and her magic. Living so close to the wilds, she also has high natural health, and finds it easy to move through the grove, even when roots would make the ground uneven or when debris would litter the ground after a heavy storm.
Race: Wood Elf
Aidlyn is an elf, and one that grew up far away from many in society, so a wood elf feels appropriate for her. Using her Keen Senses and Darkvision, she keeps watch over her family grove, both in protecting it and in caring for it. She also has the Mask of the Wild, letting her blend in amongst the leaves and branches as she typically avoids most other people.
Background: Hermit
Growing up in a grove with just her family, they became very self-sufficient. Aidlyn is also naturally more introverted, often preferring to work in the far reaches of the grove. But she learns much from nature, and is almost as skilled as her parents in caring for the Brithinan Tree by the time she leaves to go to school.
Proficiencies: Nature and Woodcarver’s Tools
Level 1: Druid (Level 1)
Prior to her meeting Professor Oynx, Aidlyn and her family had a brush with danger in the grove. A few people dressed in dark robes and wearing masks had come to the grove, demanding they be given some of the Brithinan saplings. When her parents first refused, these agents of the Oriq cast a spell that started to cause decay in the trees. Furious, Aidlyn and her mothers drew on the mana present in the grove and fought the agents off. However, some of the blight remained. Through great care, they managed to purge most of the blight from the trees. But some of the saplings still struggled.
Starting Class Proficiencies: Medicine, Nature
Spells:
Cantrips: Druidcraft, Shillelagh
Leveled Spells: Detect Poison and Disease, Entangle, Goodberry, Purify Food and Drink
Level 2: Druid (Level 2)
A month after the attack on the grove, Professor Oynx came to the grove and interacted with Aidlyn for the first time. The professor could sense the residual blight magic that still persisted, and was impressed with Aidlyn’s skills at keeping it at bay. So, she told Aidlyn about Stirxhaven, and how its archives held countless volumes on different aspects of magic, perhaps even something about a cure for the blight. After the professor left, Aidlyn discussed this possibility with her family.
Growing in her skills as a druid, Aidlyn would have reached her second level at this point. She doesn’t seem like the type to Wild Shape herself, but there was a neat option published in Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything: Wild Companion. In place of using Wild Shape, you can summon a familiar to help you. For Aidlyn, her parents teach her to summon a fey squirrel, as a reminder of the many squirrels who made their homes amongst the branches of the grove. Aidlyn names this fey creature Brith.
Druid Circle: Circle of the Land - Forest
Spells:
Circle of the Land Cantrip: Thorn Whip
Leveled Spells: Beast Bond
Level 3: Druid (Level 3)
At first, Aidlyn has a difficult time finding her place. There are many more people around than she is used to, and it overwhelms her many days. However, when she finds the greenhouse on Witherbloom’s campus, she feels at home. Even though most of the campus is marshier than the grove at home, the natural aura that emanated from its surroundings helped her feel at balance once more. She soon found herself spending more and more time amongst the exotic plants found within the greenhouse, and she knew that she would be Witherbloom.
Spells:
Leveled Spells: Protection from Poison
Level 4: Druid (Level 4)
After her first year of general studies, Aidlyn’s aptitude towards the care of nature was quickly evident to Dean Lisette of Witherbloom College. Lisette personally invited Aidlyn to become a member of the college, which Aidlyn gratefully accepted. Much to her surprise, Professor Oynx was a member of her Board of Approval. As they met again, the professor smiled and winked, indicating she had known since they first met that Aidlyn would feel like she had a place here.
Ability Score Improvement: Intelligence x2
Druid Circle (CHANGE): Mage of Witherbloom
Spells:
Cantrips: Thorn Whip *Previously known from Circle of Land*
Subclass Spells: Lesser Restoration, Ray of Enfeeblement
Leveled Spells: Healing Spirit
Level 5: Druid (Level 5)
Soon after joining Witherbloom college, Aidlyn applied to be an assistant to the dryad Professor Root, who was the caretaker of the Greenhouse. Professor Root had already observed Aidlyn’s caring nature in the year previous, and gratefully accepted her application. After a little training, Aidlyn was assigned to the care of a collection of exotic plants belonging to one Ms. Vess. As Aidlyn cared for and studied these plants, she came to realize that many of these plants weren’t native to any known areas of Arcavios. Intrigued by this mystery, Aidlyn studied extensively to uncover what hidden secrets these plants contained, hoping to find answers that could truly cure the blight left on her family’s grove.

Concept Art for Witherbloom Campus
After level five, I would continue to build Aidlyn as a druid. She might possibly dip into levels as a Wizard as she continues to learn at Strixhaven, which is why I enhanced her Intelligence above 13. Overall, I found it fun to create a Mage of Witherbloom who wanted to focus primarily on the life part of the life and death cycle.
Now, I will turn it over to you. If you were to play a character from Witherbloom College, what type of character would you build?
Next, we’ll be meeting a character from Prismari.
