Tales of the Empire has little effect on me, considering the bad way they treated Barriss. And I think we have enough storylines about the Empire, WHERE is my promised tales of the Jedi where I can watch padawan shenanigans and the deep dive into Jedi teachings. Filoni’s view of them is so skewed, he needs to amend this by actually learning about the Jedi and how they work lmao

I think sometimes when people write Rex to think of Anakin as a bad general, they’re kind of missing the point of it. Anakin wasn’t a bad general. He was a good one who genuinely cared about his men more than most of the others. It just didn’t matter.
Like that’s the tragedy of Anakin.
No matter how good he was and how many people loved him, it just didn’t matter.

i went on a reblog spree of the unwhitewashing of clone troopers and portrayals of temuera morrison’s characters in star wars a bit ago, mostly awesome edits and stuff, bc like
when i was little i watched Attack of the Clones the most and then Revenge of the Sith the most after that when it came out not necessarily because of their perceived quality but because they had the most lightsabers right, i also played the shit out of Bounty Hunter on the gamecube- point for now is i spent a lot of time looking at tem
i don’t understand why some star wars mediums seem to have so much trouble portraying him accurately? i mean i know exactly why and it’s obv the big R but even if we were giving the maximum benefit of the doubt here… what tf is the deal??? like, my gay ass has known *exactly* what this very pretty man has looked like for years now and this ain’t it?? i’m noticing it more as i’m moving to tumblr and following all these clone-related tags bc i love clone content, so i’m constantly seeing these tcw/tbb screenshots these last several days and i just. ???
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
for a bit i thought maybe they were so audacious as to attempt to blend tem’s features with dbb’s (white) features but no?? the clones don’t really resemble him at all whatsoever?? idk where tf the jaw, cheekbones, chin, eye spacing, hairline & texture, skin tone and even face shape came from, i guess hell or something
Tumblr media Tumblr media
& people have pointed out countless times how they nailed Typho so it’s not as if they just struggle with “✨ethnic✨” features, it was a choice to not really make any concentrated effort to portray tem faithfully? Typho’s model (minus the eyepatch obv) looks more like Temuera in many ways than the clone trooper model and it’s not even fucking based on him, and the two men don’t look alike in real life! They’re both brown men from New Zealand, both Polynesian, yes, but Tem is Māori and Jay is Samoan.
and yknow i could forgive like, the angularity in the lines of the face itself because in the movie and most of season 1 all of the core cast has that kind of exaggeration even where their live action actors totally lack it, and i think it was an art style thing they chose to carry over from the 2003 series? i still wouldn’t *like* it, but if that was it while Tem’s real skin tone and hair texture was intact then I don’t know if we’d be having this discourse. especially when looking at typho and literally seeing that it was done already (but even if there wasn’t already another example), there is no justifiable reason to leave out the bare minimum when adapting a person of color, period
it’s hard to imagine ppl like filoni and lucas literally speaking the words “no make him whiter” or whatever the fuck to the people working on these models at their computers, or for them to literally just make it this way unprompted and for every single person to sign off on it and nobody to be like wait a damn minute… this doesn’t look like the dude in the movie at all??? but also when you really look at all of this stuff and think it through and ask *why* this is “stylized” to the extent it is, where it hardly resembles Tem at all, and *why* this way was preferable to the alternative where it totally looks exactly like Jay, you really burn any plausible deniability there *possibly* miiiight have been.
Why was it fine for one but not the other? Is it that they didn’t want a character model with features like Typho’s shown as often and as prominently as the clones? Why might that be?
at least the toy companies got our backs

People in this fandom really do be hinging their whole personality on telling other people what characters can and can’t morally and ethically kiss each other
I hope they get better soon

For me the ultimate problem with the Star Wars franchise is that the story refuses to face the fact that Anakin Skywalker did fulfill the prophecy.
By the time of Star Wars/A New Hope/Episode 4/whatever, how many actual Jedi were there and how many Sith?
As far as I understand it, there were two of each.
Anakin brought balance to the force. Luke threw it off again.

The absolute last thing I want is to "well actually" on other Star Wars fans posts so making my own. But the idea that the Jedi are "peaceful" is absolutely the funniest bit of gas lighting/hand waving New Star Wars has managed to achieve so far.
Their body count is just as high as the Sith, especially when the Jedi commanded literal armies as their day job.
Luke. Luke is peaceful. New Star Wars just spends the most time with Luke.
The other Jedis? Nope. Not a chance. They be killing and murdering all day long, they just justify as "necessary" or "good" deaths.

You know, if you watched Star Wars and claim to be a fan of it, but your takeaway of it is "this specific small group of people deserves to be murdered down to the last child" then I'm fairly certain the only thing you have ever enjoyed about Star Wars is the pew pew aesthetics of it because the overarching message seems to have completely blown right over your head. I can't imagine watching Star Wars, with its very very obvious symbolism and messages, and then coming onto someone else's post to advocate for the genocide of a minority cultural group. I'd be embarrassed. I'm embarrassed FOR YOU.

Once you read as much Star Wars books as I do (nothing compared to the hardcore fans who read all of legends and disney canon tho), Legends or Disney canon, you get to weed out all the authors you don’t like and you realise hey, they’re anti-Jedi! Or just don’t like Jedi because of [checks list] things they obviously don’t want to agree with. They either villainise the characters or make them downright ‘bad’ for the readers because, get this, they think these characters are a bunch of jackasses when in reality, that’s not what it is. Or they’d outright say, hey these Jedi mfs are a bunch of fucking baby snatchers! And murderers! Yes, I’m pointing at you Karen Traviss, the bane of all Star Wars books.

lmao love making a post about how star wars writers are inconsistent with how they treat droids, and getting multiple "well actually" responses with specific plot points that do nothing to critique the overall inconsistency and in fact provides a series of perfect examples of the eight million and five different ways people have been unable to keep droid sentience/independence consistent across star wars media as a whole. you're proving my point with every reply, my sweets.

in short: nobody who likes star wars and cares about star wars wants star wars to be racist or do racist things. that’s why it sucks so much when clone troopers don’t actually look that much like temuera morrison at all in tcw/tbb and people decide to gaslight the rest of us and say they totally do bc they’re still more tan than like, anakin and obi-wan (except when they’re not)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
moreover: it’s ongoing. even with tcw Season 7, tbb S1, tales of the jedi and tbb S2, which are all recent projects with a significant animation upgrade and new models, textures and lighting for almost everyone. as outcry has continued, they’ve adapted to a variety of things. they’ve shown a willingness to listen to fans with tbb s2’s armor and adding Cody, and they’re willing to break continuity with like, obi’s mullet and ahsoka’s fucking tube top in TOTJ, but not darken the clones’ skin tones a few shades and add texturing to the hair, round some edges and play it off with the art style upgrade? not even darkening echo now that he’s supposed to be healthier again or having tech’s mutations *not* include being white and british? it’s not like they haven’t heard about the backlash even though they had heard of everything else. and when you have heard those things, and chosen to keep trucking as you are, choosing not to change anything, not even one, that is racist.
it isn’t and wasn’t okay to do this kind of thing to any actor of color or character of color in animation, and we knew this whether it was in 2008, 2018, or 2022, and it’s not okay to do to Temuera Morrison and the clones. it’s not an artistic or stylistic choice, it’s not an adaptational change. it is erasure. it is racist. and we need to talk about it until it stops.

Edit: For the love of God guys, please don’t come onto this post to complain about how badly you want Tech to be dead. This compulsive need to post variations on “he’s dead, and should stay dead” on posts like this is getting really old.
Before I sign off, I just want to state that a big reason for me wanting to limit social media time is the harassment of anyone who puts forth a theory about Tech being alive (as CX-2 or by some other means). People have gotten a great deal more vitriolic since last episode, and this is only a handful of screenshots of people leaving nasty replies on “Tech lives” posts on Twitter. Fandom, do better!

I would be a lot more sympathetic to people disliking Anakin if almost every single one of the haters weren't: 1) pro him going to jail or getting some absolutely awful punishment - which is not how the Jedi typically handle internal affairs, 2) him getting thrown out of the order against his will, instead of working with him and his issues - once again not how the Jedi Order typically works, 3) seems to think he doesn't suffer any consequences at all (narratively he's punished for most things he does by way of bodily injuries but that's a different post), 4) ignored the fact he was groomed - like yes he made his own choices but people act like its HIS fault for not being a better Jedi when he canonically was being set up to fail constantly by Palpatine, and 5) they always have a hard on for some other villain that's done shit just as bad, had just as much reason to be a bad guy as Anakin, but for some reason they give the other character grace when they dont give Anakin any.

happy star wars day
a little psa while we're in the spirit and in light of recent events
if you have ever, ever ever, sent anyone hate about anything they've created, you don't belong in the star wars fandom
this applies to:
leaving hate comments on fics
"critiquing" artwork
sending hateful anons about anything (especially ships)
just in general telling people how your version of x character is better and that people should write/draw them exactly that way
i am tired of seeing my favorite creators pushed out of the fandom bc y'all can't enjoy shit and simply back away if you don't like something
grow up. find your niche. don't send hate
