Why can't people just tag their NSFW posts, especially in fandoms

I DO NOT want to read your sexualised thoughts / headcanons about my fav characters

Good for you and all, but some of us here do not want to see that. Why won't you just tag your posts, I'm so tired of scrolling and accidentally reading the nastiest headcanons you can imagine just because y'all won't use tags

And when there are tags about it, it's always some hyper precise tags with the characters / fandoms' names in it, like ??? DO YOU THINK I CAN POSSIBLY THINK ABOUT AND BLOCK ALL OF THESE TAGS ??? Just tag it "NSFW", it's really that simple, the "#[fandom name] + [character name] + [precise type of NSFW]" is literally useless if there isn't a single, simple "#NSFW" next to it, istg I'm-

Tumblr Etiquette

There are a few things that have changed on Tumblr in the last year due to the Twitter diaspora and perhaps just change over time. To keep Tumblr the vibrant and useful site it's been in the past, two of these things need to revert to prior standard and ironically both have to do with tagging.

Tag every post's topic, whether it's a fandom, a sport, a hobby

Use the actual words; do not censor or use leetspeak

Tags work differently on Tumblr than they do on Insta and Elon's caged bird site. Tags are less about discovery through the platform as we don't use a shitty algorithm. While you can search for specific tags, that interface is a fucking nightmare full of glitches and frustration. I'm more likely to do a browser search adding in Tumblr and the tag (so the tag is still helpful). Tags allow Tumblr users to curate their experience. Whether you're using built-in features or the essential add on of Tumblr Savior, we can block the terms, topics, fandoms, and other content we don't want to see. You can block topics that annoy, bore, or trigger you. There's no judgement in blocking tags. We don't all share 100% of each other's interests, and when someone I follow gains a new interest that I don't share, I don't have to wade through the morass to get the posts I still want from them.

Using censored or leetspeak tags makes it harder for your audience to block the things they don't want to see. In my posts explaining that the word 'Gypsy' is a slur, I don't censor 'Gypsy' with clever asterisks, because then people have to block every iteration that people come up with.

TLDR: Tag your posts appropriately or people will stop following you because you're ruining the experience.
