A Meticulous Review of Rose's Costumes in TLJ
Let's talk about both of Rose's costumes in The Last Jedi and what they tell us about her character.
Tumblr media
Rose tells us she is usually behind pipes all day, and this outfit she wears for most of the movie reflects that. She has pockets for whatever devices she needs - or weapons to tase deserters. She has a utility belt and a plague presumably indicating her rank in the Resistance on her chest. It's a jumpsuit with a hood (they love hoods in star wars), and so it's perfect for her daily routine. I do wish we had gotten a dress-up moment on Canto Bight, though.
Female representation: 10/10 If you've read my Leia metas, you know I love a good jumpsuit. It makes perfect sense for her job and she still looks cute. I love her hair.
Practicality: 10/10 Obviously this is incredibly practical. Like, Leia on Hoth practical. It's great.
Tumblr media
This is the costume she wears to infiltrate the First Order toward the end of the movie. Before changing back into the other outfit; I do wish she had more than two but costumes were not a big part of the sequel trilogy. Still, it shows us another side of Rose and is quite flattering. I like that, unlike the Resistance, the rank is on the sleeve. The color is perfect on her.
Female representation: 10/10 Rose just knocks it out of the park, okay? And it's great that she and the fellas are we wearing the same thing (or her and the other FO ladies).
Practicality: 9/10 Presumably not as practical as the jumpsuit, but it's still fantastic. The boots and thick fabric keep her from injury in the fight on the Supremacy. Plus she looks great!

final Last Jedi thoughts after some grumpy reflection and inner debate (there IS in fact a change in perspective on Kylo Ren involved):
While this movie is a mess, it had some genuinely beautiful and good moments. However, those genuinely beautiful and good moments are overwhelmed and drowned out by the sheer amount of nonsense going on. This has been the most frustrating and draining viewing experience I've had, and I sat through all of Multiverse of Madness when it came out in theatres.
Most of the emotional beats were mistimed and jarring (i.e. there are many potentially effective and compelling ways one could help the audience learn about Rose’s backstory and build the developing friendship between Rose and Finn. Rose narrating it to us detail by detail while they’re supposed to be HURRYING and finding that hacker so that they can get to the ship so that they can disable the whatsit ASAP to SAVE THEIR FRIENDS is not one of them). Dramatic and world-changing revelations fall a bit flat and left me quite cold--either because of awkward working in the script or awkward timing. The half-baked 'journeys' of Rey's development as a competent Jedi who can handle a lightsaber and understand what the Force actually IS and DOES, and Luke Skywalker's whole deal (this is its own category. I have not the patience to hash this one out because many others have done it already and have done so more eloquently than I could) stagger about in the landscape of a bloated plotline rather aimlessly. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.
But there WERE interesting parts, or at least thought-provoking parts. I quite liked that Rey was the first person who saw all the horrors, atrocities, violence, misery, and pain of Kylo Ren's past and present, and still offered him her hand with gentleness and compassion. Much of my dislike for Kylo Ren comes from a gut reaction. He terrified me for half the movie (not being accustomed to that level of unhinged rage in a character, much less a person in real life, I started every time he raised his voice) and stressed me out in the second half (I increasingly found his behaviour infantile and morally terrible). But I think that's kind of the point. He's a villain and is meant to be presented as the dark to Rey's light (though I must say I didn't see much of that in this movie). I've been told that he's redeemed in the third movie. So it makes sense that the story would drag him to rock bottom before he learns how to fly. After reflecting on his character a while, I found that there were good reasons in making him so unpredictable, violent, and freely indulgent in his vices.
The deeper point, though, is that we get those little flickers of humanity: sorrow, pain, regret (a TEENSY little bit), the great abyss of loneliness and misery, the desire for human connection. The inability to kill his mother when given the chance. The vulnerability that slowly emerges. He IS a villain, and demonstrates levels of villainy that made my head hurt. But it all came down to this:
The questions of "Is [X Evil Person] Irredeemable? Is There Such Thing As Too Far Gone? What Makes a Monster and What Makes a Man?" are central to the story. I think the answer to the "Is Redemption Possible For One Who Has Succumbed To Darkness?" (a question that Star Wars has historically said Yes Of Course to, even in characters like Anakin–there ARE cracks... that IS how the light will get in) is yes.
Do I have the patience to make it through ANOTHER 2.5 hour movie involving Kylo Ren's screaming fits to make it through to the redemption part, though? I'm still thinking on that. It may be worth it just to see him rid of that rage and loneliness. Those who don't deserve redemption and forgiveness are the ones who most need it, after all.

No offense buddy, but I don't think you've reached critical consumer level if you think something the villain says to the hero he's fighting is meant to be taken as true.
Just a thought.

“Peter the cat reviews The Force Awakens & The Last Jedi,” originally posted Feb 22, 2020.
This is the third part of my Star Wars reviews before I saw Rise of Skywalker, going over the first two sequel trilogy films. You may notice this video is much longer than the first two. I had quite a bit to say about The Last Jedi...

*enables you* what happened with TLJ 👃
Tumblr media
After all these years I still can't properly find words to explain how deeply betrayed I felt after the credits rolled and I shuffled out of the movie theater with everybody else. There was a TON of hype surrounding this movie, an absolute fuckton. I only saw positive reviews about it, the cast, the director, the plot. I got excited to see where Rian Johnson & Co. would take the ST.
The only remotely negative comment I saw before watching the movie was a fandom blog saying they didn't like what happened to Poe. Since this blog was about racism in fandom, I knew something was off. That was my only warning.
And y'know, it was like, five minutes in? Ten minutes? And Poe makes a "Yo mama" joke at Hux? I used to go into movies with an open mind and spent days gathering my thoughts about them because I was always slow to react, slow to gather my thoughts into coherent strings of words. It's how I enjoyed Michael Bay productions and JJ Abrams' love affair with lens flare. I never got actively angry with a movie I was watching, and I was fucking angry by the time the movie ended. I still remember texting a friend while standing out in front of the theater because I was so confused. The response to TLJ was so positive so why did I come out of the movie so frustrated and confused and dissatisfied with the whole thing?
It's been years and we all know how this movie divided the Star Wars fandom and just... broke Fandom Spaces in a way I never expected. We all know what TLJ did and didn't do, and how TROS provided the final nail in the coffin that was the ST experiment. But back then, all I saw was positive commentary about the themes and messages of TLJ, how it portrayed failure and the dangers of putting someone like Luke Skywalker on a pedestal, how the Force was female, how... important it was to see Poe get characterized as a hotheaded hotshot who needed to be demoted, slapped around, and stunned in order to learn some kind of lesson, how important it was to see Finn lose everything he gained in TFA so that he could relearn how not to be selfish or something while starring in a fucking incredibly tone-deaf B plot, how Rey... I'm not sure exactly what because she didn't need training anyway and then spent most of her time trying to bring Ben Swolo back to the light????? Rose was so promising as someone who grew up under the FO's thumb but she and Kelly were fucking abandoned by Disney so I don't know if Rose existing was actually a good idea if it meant giving Kelly unending trauma. Mark slipped up by calling Luke "Jake" and expressing his displeasure in front of cameras, and I was so fucking baffled and alienated by his character after knowing how his story ended in ROTJ that I couldn't connect with whatever lessons I and he are supposed to be learning. JJ set up Snoke like a mystery box and Rian just yeeted him off without so much as a fucking explanation so what was the point of that? Hux was a fucking joke. Phasma was barely there. The only character that Rian cared about was fucking Kylo Ren and Adam says years later that he was never supposed to get a redemption arc anyway.
Like, this was the movie everyone hyped up? This was the movie that didn't answer any questions left unasked by TFA and didn't bother to move forward with character development for any of the known characters? I spent money watching a slow space chase that ended on a planet made of salt and killed off Luke for Reasons? Am I stupid? Am I dumb? Am I a peasant incapable of understanding the masterpiece Rian directed, this so-called Best Star Wars Movie Since ESB?
But I couldn't say anything. I couldn't be dogpiled for hating such a empowering movie for women, a diverse and inclusive movie that had the likes of John and Kelly and Oscar. I couldn't be lumped in with the Star Wars dudebros with their raging misogynistic and racist takes on the movie, the cast, Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm, Disney, etc. I couldn't be seen as one of them just because I didn't like a movie that I should like, I'm supposed to like. So I sat in silence, read meta, witnessed the fucking catastrophic explosion around some wild ass AO3 fandom essays written by a racist OG member of OTW about Finn/Poe, saw hate piled on black and bipoc fans, saw r*ylo fans come for John and John clap back at them, just saw an absolute fuckton of hate, and so by the time TROS came around I just... checked out. There was no way JJ could salvage what Rian had done and I was right. TROS was a corporate-run soulless garbage end to the Sequel Trilogy, but it ended just as The Mandalorian finished its first season and regained a lot of good will with this small story about a lonely Mandalorian bounty hunter who encountered a Force-sensitive Baby Yoda.
And then TBOBF/Season 3 of the Mando Show happened, just like how TLJ happened. All the promise, all the unanswered questions of the previous movie/season, all fucking dropped or provided with the worst, most unsatisfying answer. I'm sure others have found better answers and can live with what Star Wars gave us, but I haven't been able to. TLJ came out years and years ago, and I am still so bitter today. I'm still so bitter because TFA had such an incredibly compelling setup with such promising characters, and then TLJ Did That.
I got so heated while writing this. I'm still so mad. I'm still so bitter. I bury my head so deep in the sandbox I built for myself so that I don't have to think how Disney is twisting and contorting all these Mando'verse shows so that they all eventually lead to the ST, their precious hot potato child that just... didn't have to end the way they did if they actually had a fucking plan and fucking stuck the landing. I'll give the MCU this - their Phase 1? They fucking stuck the landing. I fell off the train tracks and haven't really watched the MCU since Captain Marvel, but at least they had a fucking plan and didn't fucking derail themselves like Disney did with the Sequel Trilogy.
I could be nice to people who like this movie but I'm not going to be. They can be nice on their own blogs.
Man, I can't even watch Knives Out or Glass Onion because my blood starts boiling. Just. TLJ did a lot to ruin what I hoped would be a positive and creative connection with Star Wars, and it took the Mando Show and the 2 minutes where Din and Luke locked eyes on the Imperial light cruiser to bring me back.
I'm gonna stop before I get way too heated for sleep.

I'm curious, do ppl hate Love Never Dies because they think Eristine is problematic and it's made canon in it, or is it due to something else? I havent watched it yet or anything but i like the vibes, lol
Heh... Love Never Dies has always been controversial at the very least? It came out at a time where Erik/Christine was still the most popular ship in the phandom - it still is, by the way. That didn't change despite a clear shift in fandom and ""problematic content"" around 2013, so a good 3 years after the musical came out. If anything, Raoul/Christine shippers have been a minority for most of the phandom's history, and both sides of the debate at some point more or less decided to agree to disagree (I mean, the homophobic slurs Raoul would get at times were starting to REALLY be in poor taste), except on the point that without the love triangle, there wouldn't be much of a story, and there are various ways of interpreting said love triangle. So, quite frankly, I don't understand why some people on either side are trying to restart discourse in the POTO fandom but I digress. And look, if you see people in the tags saying that Erik/Christine is problematic, they're probably new, and not really representative of the phandom at large. Anything having to do with Sierra Boggess is more controversial.
I really don't think the controversy stems from it making Erik and Christine bang and have a love child - I know there are some people who are against the idea of any kind of sequel, in fanfic form or otherwise, for a variety of reasons, but most of them were being responsible adults about it and didn't actively seek fanfic. As I mentioned before, a lot of folks were Erik/Christine shippers and thought that Christine was more into the Phantom than into Raoul, that's nothing new. But a lot of them also had issues with how LND dealt with it, for several reasons. It didn't come from an "anti" sentiment, it was very much them having issues with the material that was presented to them.
Raphael/phantoonsoftheopera (who is a long time fan of POTO) goes into more detail here and I think he sums up a lot of phans' thoughts back in 2010 when LND came out (whether they shipped the Phantom and Christine or not), and I think @musicalhell is another one who was also around at the time (feel free to pop in, and hope I'm not bothering you with the tag).
As for the rest, I wish I could defend ALW's choices here in the same way I'd defend Lana Wachowski for Matrix Resurrections - i.e. you're allowed to not like it but this is this creator's baby and they're allowed to do whatever they want with it, so let's all respect art for the sake of art here. But LND is very much a vanity project, as ALW has proven multiple times, that is mean-spirited to its core in various ways. For my fellow SW fans, it's the TROS to POTO'S TLJ. The cast and crew were treated in a really shitty way back in the original London production days, same with critics of the show, and there was even a case where a journalist and long time phan who provided a critical review of LND was demeaned in an article as some sort of sad housewife who was obsessed with POTO. Mind you, ALW has tried to make LND work FOR YEARS, with various productions and tours opening here and there, but it always underperforms. And mind you, the Eristine crowd is still hanging around, and POTO is doing extremely well whereever it goes to this day. If the Eristine content was good, the crowds would follow, "problématique" posts and tweets or not. They aren't there.

The Reylo Heresies #1
Heresy:  Reylo wasn’t planned as a ship.
It’s an assumption among Reylos that the romantic relationship was entirely planned from the beginning and it was absolutely Lucasfilm’s intention they would end up the one true pairing of the sequel trilogy.
I’m here to tell you I don’t think that’s true at all.  Most of what we got was basically an accident, a confluence of factors that added up to something nobody really planned or expected.
What happened was the Jedi Killer--a character from early drafts/outlines that ultimately became Kylo Ren--was meant to be something of an antagonist for the female protagonist who became Rey.  Given that both were gifted in the Force there would naturally be some kind of connection between them, some push-pull, some light side/dark side tension.  Those elements made it in the films.  The oft-posted/retweeted concept art from The Art of TFA shows the Jedi Killer in a Phantom of the Opera type from behind embrace of the female protagonist.  (Weirdly and fortuitously enough it was modeled from a photo shoot featuring Adam Driver some time before he was actually cast.)  This is often used as evidence Reylo was “planned” from the beginning.  Aside from this artwork though there’s nothing suggested in Lucas’s outlines or known earlier drafts of the TFA script that Rey and Kylo Ren were being set up in the same sense Anakin and Padmé or Han and Leia were.  In fact my initial impression after seeing TFA was that Rey and Kylo were cousins!
Any discussion about romance by JJ Abrams or others involved with the TFA when the film came out was very cagey and not very specific.  In fact if anything, TFA flirts but doesn’t get to first base with anybody:  not Kylo and Rey, not Rey and Finn, and not Finn and Poe.  All Abrams did was establish a kind of connection between the dynamic duo but he didn’t realize that if you have a young attractive man and a young attractive woman looking at each other intensely a lot or if you have her faint in his strong arms then he carries her away, people are going to think there’s something going on.  Lightsabers?  That’s just foreplay!
I don’t think Adam or Daisy intentionally played up any sexual tension in their scenes together to give us an impression about something in TFA.  I think it just happened.  Early bird Reylos picked up on it.  Some critics, including the one who wrote the TFA review for Time magazine, picked up on it.  And perhaps, just maybe, Rian Johnson picked up on it too.
I think Abrams was shooting for some vague Force siblings, good twin/evil twin kind of thing.  Johnson IMO saw a thread of something else as a result of the way Daisy and Adam played off each other and didn’t want to just repeat the Luke and Leia thing.  So in TLJ he pushed the relationship more into the romantic territory and let the sexual tension between Rey and Kylo go nuts.  There’s a reason why the number of Reylos exploded after that movie came out, me included.  Johnson pulled every visual trick in the book to make you think there’s more going on than just the Force.  It’s really similar to the arc between Ana de Armas and Chris Evans in “Knives Out” but way more intense.  You could cut the sexual tension with a knife and serve it with tea.  It was also absolutely the best thing about TLJ and the sequels in general.
Johnson left Rey and Kylo back in their enemies corners at the end of TLJ but the Reylo beast was on the loose and there was no putting it back in the cage.  I’m sure Lucasfilm, Chris Terrio, and JJ Abrams were pulling their hair out because they had no idea how to resolve something they didn’t intend in the first place.  Johnson had been given free reign and I’m sure that will never happen again with any Star Wars feature film.  If one is ever made.
My best piece of evidence that Reylo wasn’t really planned was its near total absence in Colin Trevorrow’s Duel of the Fates screenplay.  In fact, Colin T. forced Johnson to stick in that “Hi, I’m Poe” scene at the end of TLJ to justify a kissing scene with Rey and Poe in his script.  DOTF features Rey and Kylo fighting like Itchy and Scratchy until he’s dying and decides to be nice and tell Rey she was named after a beach in San Diego.  (Solana, in case you’re wondering.)  If Reylo had been planned there would’ve been a lot more than that.
Ultimately JJerio had to acknowledge Reylo even if there was no intent whatsoever to give Rey and Ben a HEA, so we got (let’s be honest) way better scenes between them in TROS than in DOTF.  There wasn’t even a dyad concept in DOTF.  And no kiss.
To summarize, we got Reylo largely from Rian Johnson as well as the chemistry between Daisy and Adam.  Nobody could’ve planned that from the beginning.

It sucks that the prequel Plinkett reviews are so good and stand the test of time (minus some of the humor and racist takes) but his sequel reviews are just.
Nothing.
If you watch the prequels and then immediately follow it up with the review, his complaints are valid and showcase what's wrong with the movies. For the sequels?
If you watch TFA and TLJ, then follow it up with the Plinkett review for TLJ (and Star Wars Awakens video I guess) it's blatantly obvious Mike just didn't bother watching each movie more than once.
Like wow homie. You clearly gave one of these trilogies more attention than the other. And you chose the worst one.

Ok so, please bear with me for a second
You know how there are certain tropes or clichés that are mostly found in fanfictions and it's hard not to find them kinda funny or endearingly cringy? Like I used to write stuff like that, Im not judging, I used to think it was so cool, innovative, etc etc as long as u have fun u do what u want
Like tongues battling for dominance, saying orbs instead of eyes, self lubricating u know what, clit/prostate as orgasm button, or cliché scenarios that make for really fun daydreams but wouldnt necessarily want to be like, published or anything
Basically um
I cant help but wonder if um,, During TLJ's journey writing rpf fanfiction of his self insert and LQG he'd like,,. also write these,,, "omg my parents cough son sold me to one dir cough qingjing peak" types of fanfiction. I mean, just because he's not a teenager, and he's had sex before, doesnt mean he cant write some particularly cringy stuff (love the ntr of bai zhan btw) esp pbly his first works, pbly?
Just saying Ive been rolling around cringing so hard thinking abt tlj finding lqg's "orbs" captivating or using increasingly long and unnecessary adjectives to talk abt him when only saying his name wouldve been enough
A-anyway, make of that what u will, have a good day!!
- a regular (?) reviewer
HAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHA OMG ANON PLEASE I WILL LOVE U FOREVER IF U WRITE THIS PLEASE, he absolutely can and does write this kind of stuff I LOVE ITTTTTTTT PLEASE GIVE IT TO USSSSSSSSSS

A Detailed Review of Rey's Costumes in TLJ
Let's talk about Rey's costumes in The Last Jedi and how they reflect her character arc.
Tumblr media
I have talked about this outfit before, but let's put it in context of this movie. She wears this to leave the Resistance and go find Luke Skywalker. Presumably it is her own clothes (given her distinctive style) but for warmer weather. Maybe weather changes on Jakku sometimes?? So it fits with her desert outfit while having warmer details. It also lacks the gauzy fabric pieces, giving her a more masculine appearance. She takes off the vest and one layer on her arms to practice with the lightsaber and it emphasizes her maturity (uh, not in a skeevy way; just that she is an adult on a more mature adventure than in TFA). She also takes the vest off when she dives into the cave, and her hair comes down, which shows both vulnerability and an important step for her as a character.
Female representation: 10/10 Rey's outfits are great, what can I say. I love how they always have feminine elements (here, the neckline and defined waist) without drawing your attention to her assets. As with before, it easily translates to a costume for a child without infantilizing her.
Practicality: 10/10 Rey is nothing if not very practical, so it's perfect. Great for adventuring in a new terrain that is not the desert while maintaining her look.
Tumblr media
Rey wears this for the second half of TLJ, after she has confronted her demons in the cave. It is darker than anything else we see her wear to reflect how she is more accepting of her own dark side. Her hair is still down from her trial in the cave and is a welcome change from the buns that represent her childhood dependence on her parents coming back. She hasn't given them up entirely but she is starting to, and it's awesome to represent that with her hair. Otherwise, it is more structurally similar to original outfit, but now with long pants and a warmer tunic. The gauzy fabric is back so this is also probably her most feminine outfit, which is why it's my favorite.
Female representation: 10/10 As with her other costumes, it does a wonderful job being clearly for a girl (and an attractive one at that) without objectifying her in any way. Her hourglass figure is emphasized, but by multiple layers that draw the eye to that shape instead of focusing on her actual body proportions. It's great.
Practicality: 10/10 Again, Rey is very practical. She's not going to wear something she doesn't need; even the gauzy bits presumably has a purpose in the desert.

My thoughts on “Halloween Ends” that no one asked for...
I normally don’t do reviews and such on my blog, but I watched Halloween Ends last week and have been meaning to get my thoughts out there. The following is copy pasted from a post I already did on reddit, with a few editions.
Ultimately I liked it even if it was a step down from 2018.
I hold Ends and Kills in about the same regard but on opposite sides; one being an all out slasher rampage for Michael, while Ends was more character focused slow burn; and in that “character driven drama” regard ? Ends did it better than H20.
Spoiler talk below.
I liked seeing a Laurie who tried to move on from her trauma...even if it was a little jarring after Kills cliffhanger, but y'know ? IRL issues, what are you gonna do ? It's probably my favorite of JLC's performances, since 2018.
I still liked to see Laurie trying to move on with her life, even with her failures and losses. Especially since I was honestly expecting Laurie to go TLJ!Luke following Kills ending.
I see some people making Allyson out to be this total a bitch in this movie, but I didn't really see it.
Actually I kind of expected Allyson to have more anger and resentment issues following Kills; the Allyson we see in Ends is a lot more tame compared to where I thought she'd go; rebellious tomboy/total Chloe Price type, probably in the same place Laurie was in 2018.
I actually liked Allyson trying to cope with her trauma in her own way, while not completely ignoring it. Having seen and written characters coping with trauma similarly, I can totally see Allyson making poor relationship choices, such as overlooking Corey's red flags.
Speaking of Corey Cunningham ? Loved his character and was almost sad to see him go. He made for a great villain with a tragic arc; a genuinely good person going down this path due to a tragic mistake, that wasn't even his fault. And when he finally went full slasher, I'll admit, his kills were some of my favorites.
Now am I upset that Corey overshadowed Michael ? Nah, not really. When introducing a new secondary villain trying to take the mantle of “The Shape”, I'd say you gotta give them some time to shine.
If Ends was just Michael going on another rampage throughout, it'd be the same song and dance as the 2018 and Kills. Which if you ask me would be pretty boring. Besides, Michael at least had more of a presence - and more to do in this film - than in he did H20.
H20!Michael spent that movie travelling across, and was ragdolled in a single fight. This Michael is kind of wear I see him going after 2018 and Kills - with his injuries and age catching up to him - what’s H20!Michael’s excuse ?
If I had one gripe with the movie, is that the Corey storyline felt like it was trying to tell the story of two movies in one; same gripe I had with Rise of Skywalker. But it wasn't that big an issue for me.
Then again, Curse was one of my long time favorites in the old sequels, so maybe I'm not the best at judging them /j. I don't know, maybe I'm easy to please; the only slasher movie to genuinely disappoint me this year was the new TCM and Jeepers Creepers.
Anyways, I’m decently satisfied with being Michael and Laurie’s send off; but as John Carpenter said, as long as there’s money to be made, it’s unlikely this’ll be the last Halloween movie altogether.
Danielle Harris expressed interest in coming back to the series, and I wouldn't mind a continuation of the Jamie Lloyd timeline. There's two ways I can see it going.
1. A movie that ignores 5-6, and with an adult Jamie being the focus, and giving  Danielle Harris a better send off.
Though on one hand, I don't like the idea of Jamie becoming the next Shape; on the other hand, the kind of story I would give an adult Jamie would be to repetitive of 2018!Laurie's story.
2. This one was a story idea I was working on a couple years back, but a Thorn Trilogy/H20 timeline merger, with Steven Lloyd as the protagonist. Though I don't think it would work as a movie, if I got the chance, I would probably make it novel or something.
----
Also, a fun fact also comparing Ends to H20 ? While Jamie Lee Curtis proposed H20 with the intent of killing Michael off, at the time there was a studio claus that prohibited them from definitively killing Michael - the reason we Halloween Resurrection was because of this claus.
One of their original ideas was that Michael in H20 wasn't the real Michael, but an obsessed fanboy who dawned his mask. They scrapped that idea, I think because they didn’t want to piggyback off of Scream, like a lot of late 90′s slashers were doing. I’m guessing this idea was repackaged with Corey Cunningam.
Honestly, if I were to write some kind of Halloween/Scream crossover fic, Corey’s storyline is probably were I’d take it (though I’d probably try to pair Allyson off with Scream 2022′s Sam, cuz I’m shipping trash like that)

What's your favorite star wars movie? I've realized I don't know and if I really had to guess maybe The Force Awakens or Rogue One...?
Actually it’s The Last Jedi!

ok what kind of farm do you want? animals or lots of fruits and veggies?
Ok so I’m more inclined towards having a garden but while doing my research and with how crazy expensive food is atm I would definitely have chickens, goats, and honey bees with working dogs and barn cats. Having other animals like cows, guineas, and turkeys would be awesome but that would depend on the size of the farm itself.
Lol I started rambling but yeah growing fruit/veggies would be priority.
How about you?

Oh my god the Mandalorian s3 decisions being a push to make Bo Katan more marketable for women makes so much sense.
I’ve been watching the flames of season 3 for afar wondering what possibly possessed them to sideline the wildly popular duo of Din and Grogu in favor of this Bo Katan stuff, aside from the obvious future content advertisement… it’s because it’s popular with women…
Like it’s a known pattern that corporations hate when something they’ve created aimed at men is disproportionately popular with women because they strive to keep a very distinct line between Boy things and Girl things. Anything Star Wars is for men, except the acceptable Girl Things like Leia and Padme and Asoka. But then the Mandalorian became wildly popular with women and they can’t just cancel a cash cow like the Mandalorian without milking everything they can from it so they’re like “well let’s bring in Bo Katan she’s for the Women now start making the toys”
Tumblr media
I am so late to this but that meant time to simmer and seethe over Disney's decisions before and lately, and things I've read over the years about how corporations market to their target audiences, and how little things have changed.
I saw rumors and theories that KKKennedy (y'all sorry I keep calling her that but iykyk) meddled a LOT with The Mandalorian and Jon even threatened to quit, but at the end of the day the Mouse House has the final say and we're stuck with their decisions. I really don't know how the final numbers will look, how it'll affect their merch sales, and what it means for the future seasons of The Mandalorian. Maybe the hard pivot to redeem Bo-Katan for the bajillionth time will be the new cash cow or the canary in the coal mine (for The Mandalorian; I'm sure Ahsoka will be a hit no matter what). Maybe they gambled right or they've lost too many viewers who wanted Din and Grogu to be the heart and soul and center of this particular show. It's called The Mandalorian after all. If they want to claim that it could be any Mandalorian who's The Mandalorian of these season, then maybe Season 2 should've followed a different Mandalorian and established this before scamming us with Season 3. They were already trying that with TBOBF before having Din and Grogu steal the show.
But now that I've seen those rumors and theories, I could not fucking stop thinking about what happened when the ST was rolling out and when Rogue 1 and Solo came out. I could not stop thinking about the casting choices for Rey, Jyn, and Qi'ra, could not stop thinking about how white and brunette they were. I could not stop thinking about KKKennedy and others talking about how they wanted to bring more female fans to Star Wars, acting like Star Wars was exclusively a male space, which, what a fucking insult. I could not forget pictures of her wearing "The Force is Female" shirts and pushing this message so fucking hard that it would keep showing up in critical reviews of TLJ/TROS/ST as proof that Disney didn't know what it was doing.
Rey, Jyn, and Qi'ra were lucky to not have the kind of long history that Bo-Katan already had in the gffa by the time she made her live-action debut. It didn't take much to google her involvement in TCW and Rebels, and see what she'd done. I've seen commenters say she redeemed herself in Rebels by rallying the Mandalorians but are you sure about that? Are we still having trouble with writing redemption arcs after the fucking horrible one Disney put Kylo Ren through to the detriment of every other character not named Rey?
I wouldn't have minded Bo-Katan having greater involvement in Season 3 if she didn't basically take charge of not just the COTW but also the entire show. Watch out for the new merch of her with the Darksaber now. Probably the most we'll get out of Din is whatever happens to him in the season finale because Disney gotta make more money, amirite? Grogu got a new accessory so that Disney can sell new versions of him, so why not Din?
I truly envy the poeple who are having a good time or don't need to have these thoughts constantly in their heads while watching. I didn't have a good time and I can never turn those thoughts off. I don't have the luxury so I'm never shutting up about this.
ftr I unfollowed Okiro after the billionth time he called Din, Grogu, and Bo-Katan "Clan of Three". what the fuck had she done to earn equal footing?

The same thing happened with The Last Jedi, but I don't recall any news outlets referring to it as such. TLJ had a 49% before it even opened, after the premier, so it was obviously by people who didn't even watch the movie, or by bots, or both.
I do appreciate that it's being called out for what it is, review bombing by alt-right dingbats, and not that "true fans are outraged" as was the case with TLJ. I'm just sad it didn't happen with TLJ.

Media: not many people are watching Andor
Me: well, it’s not a surprise after Book of Boba and Kenobi, people were disappointed two times in a row by Star Wars. It’s a similar situation to Solo flopping when it came out a few months after TLJ, most people still had a nasty hungover after that catastrophe.
I bet if Andor was released after Mandalorian, it would be a completely different situation.
Personally, I was checked out after Kenobi, I really wasn’t planning to watch any more SW shows. I was convinced to give Andor a chance by the trailer and some reviews about how it’s a spy drama, that just interested me.
A lot of people watch SW shows because they just like SW (not because they like spy dramas). So if previous series weren’t well-received by them, they just checked out. Or some saw the first ep of Andor and got discouraged because of how slow it was. I almost gave up on it too, that’s how much that first episode sucked for me.
I can only wonder what this will mean for the future of SW. Will there be s2 of Andor? Will next series have smaller/bigger viewership? Will something change in the strategy of Lucasfilm? Is there any point to be a SW fan anymore?
I was in a bookstore this week and saw a new book by Claudia  Gray. I think it could have been something from the High Republic? I’m not sure because I didn’t even have a desire to take it off the shelf and read the description. The apathy is real and a bit sad. It’s so hard to find joy in these new SW stories these days. :(
