What do you mean Michael didn’t adopt Corey and they became a murder family with Allyson as his daughter-in-law?? Did you watch a different movie???

I was... not expecting that.
I never expected Michael fucking Myers to Master Splinter his way in the homeless sewers and have his mask stolen like a kid who's lollipop got taken, by a man who accidentally killed the kid he was supposed to babysit and had no real intent to kill until he crossed paths with Michael? The whole exchange between them seemed like Michael passed on the torch to Corey, or didn't kill him bc he saw the "potential" to kill in him, via his memories of the accident.
They showed Michael so frail and weak here, as if in Halloween Kills he hadn't already been old (was it 65 or 75 years?) But still survived getting impaled and stabbed and whatnot multiple times. I almost thought the brief encounter with Corey had somehow sucked the strength out of Michael in a "there's a new The Shape in town so you don't need your powers anymore" but I guess living in the sewers will take a toll on you.
He wrestled with a wannabe killer over his mask and lost.
I did appreciate Laurie being a badass as usual, despite her edges having softened somewhat, her trying to live her life and even trying to find love (loved the flirting in the store) she knew Corey was not Michael, not her boogeyman.
Corey thinking he could be The Shape by stealing his mask and going on a killing spree and making the mistake of underestimating the one person who managed to survive and outsmart Michael Myers. As if Laurie couldn't tell he was coming a mile away.

the way a lot of halloween fans hate allyson, especially because of where they took her character in ends, is crazy to me because like… how else would you expect her to act?? to me i’ve always liked her character but ends is where she became full fledged and interesting to me. like i think people are forgetting that she lost both her parents, all of her friends, and her boyfriend in ONE SINGLE NIGHT. the time jump doesn’t help solidify that but she’s traumatized and dealing with PTSD just like laurie is. she’s done her best to try and keep going but she’s still broken?? which is why i think the romance with corey worked for me, like the average person couldn’t understand what she’s been through but someone who has been outcasted and traumatized by death & haddonfield just like she has…would. she saw someone she could relate to and wanted to help him, which in a way helped herself. i’ve seen people complain about how she’s willing to leave town with a boy she’s known for a couple days but are ignoring the bigger picture that she’s wanted to leave haddonfield and she needs to get out of haddonfield to survive. to her, it’s a constant reminder of the pain she’s been caused. corey came into her life with a proposition and as an escape to her trauma so of course she would be willingly to run away with him. obviously, it’s hard to see her take things out on laurie and not believe her in the third act because we knew she was right about corey, but if i was in allyson’s shoes i would probably react similarly. once again people are forgetting that she’s lost so much too and you just can’t imagine what her life is like. and corey driving a wedge between them is literally a huge part in the narrative of the whole cycle of evil, fear, paranoia, blaming etc that the movie is trying to get across. allyson and laurie are more alike than most want to admit and the strode family relationship is the driving force of this trilogy so how can so many people have such a dislike for allyson? she’s just not the perfect or ideal heroine and for some reason that makes people upset.

Halloween Ends is a good movie
It's a great Romance/Psychological Thriller/Action movie (for Allyson, Corey, and Laurie respectively).
Is it a great Slasher movie? As someone who is just getting into Horror movies, I don't have the Ethos to say. But I can say that I was more Invested than Scared (maybe it helps that I saw it with friends?).
I rewatched Halloween Kills the day before going to see Ends, and I think it helps to view The Shape (Michael Myers) like Laurie says at the end of Kills: he's not a person; he's a force of nature, he's Fear Incarnate. Rewatching Kills also definitely got me believing that the Mask gives you superpowers, so that's where I'm coming from.

My thoughts on “Halloween Ends” that no one asked for...
I normally don’t do reviews and such on my blog, but I watched Halloween Ends last week and have been meaning to get my thoughts out there. The following is copy pasted from a post I already did on reddit, with a few editions.
Ultimately I liked it even if it was a step down from 2018.
I hold Ends and Kills in about the same regard but on opposite sides; one being an all out slasher rampage for Michael, while Ends was more character focused slow burn; and in that “character driven drama” regard ? Ends did it better than H20.
Spoiler talk below.
I liked seeing a Laurie who tried to move on from her trauma...even if it was a little jarring after Kills cliffhanger, but y'know ? IRL issues, what are you gonna do ? It's probably my favorite of JLC's performances, since 2018.
I still liked to see Laurie trying to move on with her life, even with her failures and losses. Especially since I was honestly expecting Laurie to go TLJ!Luke following Kills ending.
I see some people making Allyson out to be this total a bitch in this movie, but I didn't really see it.
Actually I kind of expected Allyson to have more anger and resentment issues following Kills; the Allyson we see in Ends is a lot more tame compared to where I thought she'd go; rebellious tomboy/total Chloe Price type, probably in the same place Laurie was in 2018.
I actually liked Allyson trying to cope with her trauma in her own way, while not completely ignoring it. Having seen and written characters coping with trauma similarly, I can totally see Allyson making poor relationship choices, such as overlooking Corey's red flags.
Speaking of Corey Cunningham ? Loved his character and was almost sad to see him go. He made for a great villain with a tragic arc; a genuinely good person going down this path due to a tragic mistake, that wasn't even his fault. And when he finally went full slasher, I'll admit, his kills were some of my favorites.
Now am I upset that Corey overshadowed Michael ? Nah, not really. When introducing a new secondary villain trying to take the mantle of “The Shape”, I'd say you gotta give them some time to shine.
If Ends was just Michael going on another rampage throughout, it'd be the same song and dance as the 2018 and Kills. Which if you ask me would be pretty boring. Besides, Michael at least had more of a presence - and more to do in this film - than in he did H20.
H20!Michael spent that movie travelling across, and was ragdolled in a single fight. This Michael is kind of wear I see him going after 2018 and Kills - with his injuries and age catching up to him - what’s H20!Michael’s excuse ?
If I had one gripe with the movie, is that the Corey storyline felt like it was trying to tell the story of two movies in one; same gripe I had with Rise of Skywalker. But it wasn't that big an issue for me.
Then again, Curse was one of my long time favorites in the old sequels, so maybe I'm not the best at judging them /j. I don't know, maybe I'm easy to please; the only slasher movie to genuinely disappoint me this year was the new TCM and Jeepers Creepers.
Anyways, I’m decently satisfied with being Michael and Laurie’s send off; but as John Carpenter said, as long as there’s money to be made, it’s unlikely this’ll be the last Halloween movie altogether.
Danielle Harris expressed interest in coming back to the series, and I wouldn't mind a continuation of the Jamie Lloyd timeline. There's two ways I can see it going.
1. A movie that ignores 5-6, and with an adult Jamie being the focus, and giving  Danielle Harris a better send off.
Though on one hand, I don't like the idea of Jamie becoming the next Shape; on the other hand, the kind of story I would give an adult Jamie would be to repetitive of 2018!Laurie's story.
2. This one was a story idea I was working on a couple years back, but a Thorn Trilogy/H20 timeline merger, with Steven Lloyd as the protagonist. Though I don't think it would work as a movie, if I got the chance, I would probably make it novel or something.
----
Also, a fun fact also comparing Ends to H20 ? While Jamie Lee Curtis proposed H20 with the intent of killing Michael off, at the time there was a studio claus that prohibited them from definitively killing Michael - the reason we Halloween Resurrection was because of this claus.
One of their original ideas was that Michael in H20 wasn't the real Michael, but an obsessed fanboy who dawned his mask. They scrapped that idea, I think because they didn’t want to piggyback off of Scream, like a lot of late 90′s slashers were doing. I’m guessing this idea was repackaged with Corey Cunningam.
Honestly, if I were to write some kind of Halloween/Scream crossover fic, Corey’s storyline is probably were I’d take it (though I’d probably try to pair Allyson off with Scream 2022′s Sam, cuz I’m shipping trash like that)

Stitched Apart
Allyson Nelson x Wick!Reader
Tumblr media
Things had changed. The game had changed. When Corey stumbled to yours and Allyson's place after he had disappeared, he looked shocked, horrified, and yet free at the same time.
Corey stumbles out of your shower and you hand him a set of your clothes. The young mechanic's eyes seem far off and full of fear.
"Are people born bad or is it something that grows?" he whispers.
"I've seen a lot" you huff, "but I think it's influence not some ingrown evil nature."
"I-I didn't mean to kill that kid that day" Tears slip down his cheek.
"I know" you whisper, "Corey you're not a bad guy, life just dealt you a bad hand"
"What do you know about bad hands?!"
"Try this: my dad's a killer. Plain and simple. The underworld calls him Baba Yaga."
"Boogeyman?"
"He's sent to kill the Boogeyman" you mutter, "and now that same underworld looks to me"
"But you're just a bodyguard...aren't you?"
You silence speaks volumes to Corey.
"Oh shit. You're not a bodyguard."
"The only good things that happened to me was meeting Ally and meeting you" you give him a weak smile "don't tell her what i've told you"
"M-my lips are sealed" he makes a little gesture across his mouth to seal it.
You take the young man back to his house. Corey's mother didn't really like anyone in the town but she did like you. Something about you made her realize that you and Corey were kindred spirits.
"Where was my son?!" Corey's mother hollered at you in worry.
"With me and Ally" you answer back covering for Corey, "some bullies jumped him and...yeah...fought 'em off"
Corey's mother shakes her head and guides Corey back inside.
The rest of the day went pretty normal. You picked up Allison from the hospital, you could see a smug look on one of her co-worker's face as Allyson sadly got in your mustang.
"Bad day, babe?" you put a gentle hand on her shoulder.
"I didn't get the promotion. Deb got it" she mutters, "I think she's sleeping with Dr. Mathias."
"She won't last long" you shrug, "c'mon let's get home and I'll make you a piping hot dinner"
"We're supposed to have dinner with my grandma" Allyson bites her lip at the thought of you cooking over the stove.
"I'll make more then. We'll take it over together" you smile as you drive off from the hospital.
Laurie welcomed you and Allyson into her house with open arms. Dinner went well and smooth. Although Laurie kept looking at you like she knew something was going on in your mind.
"What's egging you, kid?" the older Strode asks you as you put away the dishes.
"You see right through me, don't you?" you chuckle
"I know a killer when I see one" your blood runs cold. "I know the fear in a killer's eyes. The hate the rage."
You remain silent.
"I saw it the moment Allyson introduced you to me. I saw a wolf." she smiles, "but i also a wolf that wanted to become a lamb"
"Ally's the best part of me"
"Keep her safe." Laurie gives your hand a grandmotherly squeeze "why did you come to Haddonfield?"
"to kill the boogeyman"
Kill the boogeyman. What you didn't know was that Corey was bringing back the boogeyman. And the boogeyman had gained an apprentice.
You woke up the next day, the day before Halloween, with Allyson in your arms. Her hair obscuring your vision. The best and only way you want to wake up.
And then came the news report on your TV. Authorities reported the death of one Doctor Mathias and one nurse named Deb. The odd thing was that Deb's death was within the MO of one Michael Myers, Doctor Mathias on the other hand seemed like a copycat's.
"Baby pack your things" you grabbed a ready duffel bag of clothing.
"What's wrong? If it's Myers, I'm not afraid." Allyson states.
"I think...I think Myer's has an apprentice."
To Be Continued...

An Analysis of Halloween Ends
The movie isn't that bad, I liked the concept they introduced; to show Allyson also had conflict via Corey, being tempted by evil, clashing with her grandmother, old vs new generation and their differences.
Laurie still being blamed and ostracized for Michael's killings, despite her heroic and survivor role in it and trying to make things better.
But why not show that conflict between Allyson and Laurie by having Haddonfield try to get Allyson on their side, to convince her that her grandmother is also a monster just like Michael, to convince her that her entire family is evil and Allyson tries to distance herself from that by trying to distance herself from Laurie?
Blaming Laurie for all her past deeds, how she barricaded and weaponized herself for years, wasting her life, waiting for Michael to come and finally kill him. Laurie coming to terms with that through writing her memoirs, self reflecting her role, her family's role but also Haddonfield's role in the creation of Michael Myers.
Allyson fighting with what she knows about her family and what the people are telling her, maybe going to the local library and reading about what happened all those years ago. Reconnecting with Laurie again and reaffirming her role in the family.
IMO it was a bit...odd to introduce a new character in the last trilogy that didn't really have any impact on the main storyline. Corey was supposed to bear Michael's legacy, he was supposed to contradict what the town thought of Michael's creation: the nature vs nurture debacle.
A lot of people justified Michael's creation and evil by saying he was born that way, it wasn't due to the abuse he suffered or anything else, it was in his nature to be evil.
Corey started out a good guy, he was babysitting a kid and trying to play with him (ignoring that he watched a horror movie with a little child). But the accident and the town's accusations and stigmatization of him, along with the constant bullying and harassment, caused him to go down a dark path. Corey was nurtured into evil.
Allyson was this beacon of light in his life, just like family was Laurie's light that prevented her from turning evil. It was supposed to be that silver lining that made Corey tried to do better.
The first encounter between Michael and Corey could've went like this:
Michael choking Corey, them locking eyes and Michael seeing Corey's memories of the accident; seeing the potential to kill in him.
He passes on the legacy to Corey, the power of the Shape to wreak havoc and finish what Michael started. Cue the Master Splinter-ification of Michael in the sewers, chilling with the rats to sort of "mentor" Corey; showing how to wield and hold the knife, calmly staring into Corey's eyes whenever he has a panic. Or not even that. Michael just...slithers away back into the sewers and disappears.
Michael Myers would be gone. But The Shape stays and slays.
If Michael stayed and the scene between Corey and Laurie went differently:
Corey goes on his monolog about, if he couldn't have Allyson then nobody will.
He goes in for the kill, to finally kill Laurie, but Michael intervenes and brutally kills Corey instead. While staring into Michael's eyes, Corey stutters:"...I...I thought you...wanted...to kill....her."
Michael, of course, doesn't say anything. Just before Corey dies, Michael turns back to Laurie. Laurie was in shock that Michael showed up, but quickly recovered and slams a frying pan at his head or stabs Michael.
When Michale gets paraded around town and before he gets thrown to get shredded, Laurie stares at his remains and finally jumps into the shredder herself. Allyson is devastated, but it's necessary for the new generation to grow.
It was all set up perfectly too: Laurie was already writing her memoirs, she was old and at peace with herself and her past, she managed to kill Michael and secure her family's safety. Laurie choosing to die on her own terms and end the 'curse' of Michael Myers would've been an ideal ending to the Halloween franchise. It would've truly ended.
Which one of them dies at the end? They both die. They both die and mark an end to the past and mark the new beginning, the new future ahead of the younger generations. A future without the curse of Michael Myers to haunt people anymore.

Still haven't seen any hateposting about what was objectively the worst thing Corey Cunningham did other than take all the screentime and focus away from Michael Myers himself. Like this asshole was dating Allyson while actively going around killing people with Michael and dressed as Michael, who was, you know, the guy who murdered both of Allyson's parents and traumatised both her and her grandmother and also pretty much the entire fucking town
