When Mace "announces" his presence at Geonosis, he points his blade to Jango, not Dooku, the more dangerous of the two (I mean, Mace has good reason to keep his weapon on Jango, the man has attempted to murder a Republic senator, has previously fled attempted arrests, is the central figure of the "what the fuck, why is there a clone army?" mystery, and most importantly, Mace doesn't know Jango, but he does know Dooku)

Because he's giving Dooku a chance

Mace still has faith-has hope-that Dooku is willing to talk this out, despite everything he's giving his old friend, his Jedi brother, one last opportunity to resolve this...

And Dooku let's him down

And a similar situation plays out with Anakin 3 years later

Mace trusted him on his word that Palpatine is a sith lord, Mace trusts Anakin to safeguard the temple while he and the other council members deal with the situation (and I'll remind you that aside from Shaak Ti, all of the remaining members of the Jedi council on planet went with Mace, he basically entrusted Anakin with the fate of the entire order should they fail to sto Sidious)

And like Dooku, Anakin let's Mace down, but even worse

Mace trusted both of them, believed in them, that they would do the right thing, that they were still Jedi...

Being that we're both generally new to the game, we decided to play the simplest style of game we could; pure slaughter. Berefit of mission decks due to GW not having released a PDF of them and my having not printed out what I'd found yet, we didn't use any special mission rules. Additionally, as we had both only played 5th edition previously, we agreed to omit use of Strategems. Finally, due to how narrow my table is, the only really valid deployment style was Sweeping Engagement.

All this decided, we rolled off for first move and I (Imperial Knights) won with a 2. Armies were deployed and I engaged by moving my Paladin and Warglaives forward and firing shots into the opposing warriors, termagants, and hive tyrant. with the loss of 2 Gants, 2 Warriors, and half the Tyrant's wounds, the Tyranids responded with a frenzy of focused attacks, immediately destroying my Paladin and reducing one Warglaive to the wounded state.

The loss of my Paladin in turn1 was a shock of ice water that alerted me to just how dangerous the (only legs right now 😭😭) Barbed Hierodule was, and I immediately began backpedalling and playing defensively. There was no doubt that the surrounded Warglaive was a lost cause, and that the other would need to stand firm as a bastion between the Hierodule's wrath and the Helverins' gunline.

I backed my Helverins behind the deployment line, and placed the unwounded (and sadly not fully painted) warglaive between terrain pieces to block enemy passing. The barrage from the Helverins, with the help of the Warglaives' (terrifying) Thermal Spears, the Hive Tyrant's reign of tyranny was ended, and multiple Genestealers and Raveners with it. Finally, the doomed warglaive made a sweeping assault with it's heatblade which finished off the last of the Genestealers.

Tyranids took a lot of ground in movement of turn 2, and though they accomplished little in shooting, the fight phase was a savagery of claws and teeth that shredded the first Warglaive, and the second was lucky to survive that turn before the Hierodule's onslaught.

sadly I forgot to continue taking pictures after each turn for use in posting 😭😭😭

most of the rest of the game, after that last Warglaive's unfortunate slaughter by the last Ravener before the Hierodule got a chance at it, consisted of the two Helverins being backed into a corner firing a desperate spray from their autocannons to hold off the horde.

the Hierodule was defeated with focused fire, and that last Ravener stomped under heel like the bug it is, and it came down to just one Helverin facing off the remaining Termagants and the untouched Carnifex

The Termagants stood no chance, having dealt only one wound per turn, and the bushes they hid in were painted red.

it was a showdown now. a battle of Giants. One Helverin facing One Unharmed Carnifex. With 8 wounds each to take, the Helverin put up a fight but was crushed like the tin can it is before the Carnifex's powerful Crushing Claws, which laid it to rest with -10 wounds.

Today's battle was very close, but a Tyranid victory. Well played and thank you for the game @amanitabones !

I made things today. I had over an hour to waste while I waited for lunch hours to start at my university, so I drew some Wolfbred!

Long-winded description/lore thing under the cut.

As you can see, Wolfbred are very often blond with blue eyes, but there are exceptions! Wolfbred were created when Link (Twilight Princess) was exposed to Twilight and transformed into a wolf. The Twilight left a permanent stain on Link's genetics, which effectively made all his descendants werewolves. As such, many Wolfbred are given names from the Twilight Era. (Is Twilight supposed to be capitalized? I don't remember. I've been staring at DNA for too long.)

Top left is Pryze! Pryze is a knight in Princess Zelda's personal guard. He takes his orders from Link. He doesn't speak much Hylian, and he prefers to talk only with Zora and other Wolfbred (many Wolfbred are fearful of Hylians, including Pryze). He's the 3rd youngest Wolfbred in the Clan at 28. He's unique for many reasons, most notable being his markings. Although most Wolfbred only display their markings underneath moonlight (or if exposed to Twilight themselves), Pryze has permanent markings due to vitiligo. As such, he's known as the "Marked Wolfbred." Over ten years passed between his birth and Link's. I adopted Pryze from LittleStarMewtwo26 

Top right is Link! I don't need to tell you who Link is, Link needs no introduction. But I'm going to ramble anyway. Link is the 2nd youngest Wolfbred in the Clan. He's also the first Wolfbred to marry outside the Clan... at the Clan's urging. (There were no more lady Wolfbred... except for Link's sister 🫣) At first glance, Link looks like he's smiling. These are actually scars. When Link was first knighted, Wolfbred were still required to be muzzled inside Hyrule Castle. Link's muzzle sliced open his face from his handlers yanking on the chains attached to it. The King and Princess intervened, and the King ruled that because Link was Zelda's personal knight that she got to decide whether he was required to be muzzled or not. A 12-year-old Zelda, frightened from the bloody incident, chose to exempt Link from muzzling. Eventually, Link and Zelda were able to prove that Wolfbred were safe creatures even without the muzzles, which gave King Rhoam the authority to ban the devices. I wouldn't advise approaching Link too quickly, or getting your hands too close to his head.

Bottom left is Twili! She is the apothecary and midwife for Hateno Village. She is about Ordon, Link's father's, age. She is a senior Wolfbred at 34 (Wolfbred are considered seniors at 30, as they develop many health problems around that age) but has not aged as dramatically as other Wolfbred in her age range. She has been mistaken to be Link's mother many times by non-Wolfbred, due to them misinterpreting the Wolfbred's affectionate culture (and the fact that Link acts less shy with Wolfbred) to be a family relationship between the two. All of the Champions, except for Mipha, have made this mistake. Many Wolfbred live in the Zora settlement of Goponga, and work in Zora's Domain, so Mipha already knew who Link's mother was. I designed her several years ago, originally as Link's niece. And then Link's sister married Revali's son, so I had to change things. 

Bottom right is Midna Marie! She is the mother of Link and Sydnei. She is the last female Wolfbred to have live pups. Link and Sydnei, the only two Wolfbred born alive in the last 25 years, are her puppies. She got to meet the Queen and King of Hyrule at Hyrule Castle during the de-exile process. Her husband got to serve the Queen as her bodyguard, and her son serves the Princess as her bodyguard. She dropped dead when Sydnei was 2, and when Link was 10. It was... a very startling and dramatic departure from the world. Her greatest regret in life is that she couldn't get away from her son before passing away, as the trauma from witnessing her sudden death strengthened his hatred towards non-Wolfbred Hylians. Midna Marie was also designed by LittleStarMewtwo26

I was teaching the niece about the concept of distance the other day after a discussion about people who are from other countries, and people who are from this country but further away. This prompted getting google maps out and showing her famous places in this country around the world using street view and then showing her how far away they were from home. Ended up in Egypt, after she called it a giant beach and I had to explain the concept of desert, and I was skipping over various sites that wouldn't hold her interest. Said to myself under my breath 'hmm no not Deir el Medina' and she immediately says 'no I want to visit der eb medina' so we spent 20 minutes with her being very excited about the tombs you can go into and look at up close.
