ok so the Astarion act 2 hug scene in my playthrough was delightful but watching a vid of the other outcomes afterwards absolutely DESTROYED me!!!! I feel like I haven’t seen a lot of references to these lines of dialogue (for obvious reasons, I don’t think a lot of ppl pick that line of questioning cuz its very cruel) but maybe they are discussed frequently and I’m just not super active in the fandom on here. Either way, Neil’s delivery of this was heartbreaking and I can’t stop thinking about it

These lines really work to re-contextualize so much of his behaviour up to that point, I would argue more than some of the sweet ones do if you respond positively to him. There’s a terrifying amount of honesty in some of these lines. He’s just told you how fucked up his relationship with sexuality has been for the past 2 centuries and it’s almost like he’s battling between still trying to appease you and going “but didn’t you just hear what I said? This isn’t want I want” and trying to explain himself further because maybe then someone will finally get it.

And the scene you can possibly get afterwards where you pressure him into sex is brutal. I’m so glad the game recognizes this as a really fucked up thing to do and if you pressure him then no matter what he’ll break up with you the morning after because he’s tired of being used. It’s definitely the saddest and quietest Astarion is up to that point in the game and it’s such a huge contrast to his normal performative personality.

Astarion just sitting silently after having spent an entire night disassociating while being pressured for sex IMMEDIATELY after explaining how uncomfortable that makes him to the first person he kinda cared about in 200 years is insane and I almost can’t believe that’s a possible outcome in the game. I highly recommend scrolling through that video if you want extra insight on him as a character, I feel there are a lot of important and emotional pieces of dialogue for Astarion that are hidden behind cruel/shitty Tav choices so a lot of ppl may not end up seeing them. I love BG3 but this is one of the first cutscenes that’s really effected me emotionally, both the normal gentle version I got to see in my own playthrough and the cold cruel versions you can find on youtube.

Patch 2 Karlach got an entirely new ending huh 👀 Karlach ending vid & personal speculations for Minthara's extra content under the cut. Spoilers of course!

^Here's the video. The content of it is brand new, I literally couldn't find any of these lines in the datamine that was compiled at release (03/08/2023).

I wonder if they're going to do something similar for Minthara. There is an ending where we go back to Menzoberranzan👀

Previously, Karlach fans asked for another Karlach ending where her heart is fixed. That wasn't exactly what they asked for, but it's an ending where she lives nonetheless. So, wish fulfilled-ish? Meanwhile...

The request for Minthara's content so far is much more vague, thus making it more difficult to predict what extra content will be added in (if they were to do that)... Most were asking for Larian to patch her bugged lines and improve the overall lack of content. We never got to experience her romanced lines after Act 1 other than some crumbs and the datamine, so there was not really "the one" storyline-specific thing being asked for.

I am purposely ignoring the pregnancy plotline, it seems that the IGN article hinted that it truly is cut content from an earlier iteration of her character.

What I want & I think would be nice as extra Minthara content: More content of her being vulnerable after opening up to Tav would be super duper nice. I think I could draw somewhat of a parallel with Astarion's romance (from the little I know of it). Started off strong and physical, but more emotionally involved as it progressed, and in the end, it's the emotional connection that is the most fulfilling.

Her character is very power & control, but in the end...

even if the player didn't seize control of the elder brain, she forgives them because she's in love with them. I want to see more of that connection, more of it being built up. In the datamine right now, there's just that alurlssrin scene and that's it. Can we get a kiss from her 🥺 or a more romantic sex scene 🥺 pls Larian if you're reading this.

After all, it wasn't just the goblin afterparty altar scene that got most of us into Minthara, it was equal part that line where she promised she would take us as consort in Menzoberranzan too.

For non-romanced Minthara content, I'm actually not sure what could be added in other than an epilogue ending slide. Ending slides would benefit all companions and not just her, but yeah. I'm also curious on her lineage, but I'm not sure if that'd ever get elaborated upon.

Bottom line: I need her romance content in game & that elfsong tavern epilogue with her in game. For the extra content I hope we get new content that further her romantic connection with Tav 🥺and something more for the ending would be super nice too.

We're literally the most patient fans ever if I do say so myself lol. If Larian could pull this off not only would they please many of their longtime fans*, but it'd be incredible marketing/public relation move for them. Fixing Minthara's content might also encourage more players to replay and do an evil playthrough if they haven't done so.

*I feel like a lot of us who are fans of Minthara because we were here since Early Access and some solely played an evil playthrough for her. A few of my friends who played the game for the first time just straight up do good path, and Minthara was no more than another enemy to slaughter. Die hard, long time fans make for good evangelist marketer, word-of-mouth spreader and dedicated wiki editors. Larian's already got enough good rep, but the complaints has started to roll in, first on her & Karlach's content, then overall for Act 3, so I think a proper patching of Minthara and extra content would be golden tbh. Or maybe that's just the marketer/Minthara enjoyer in me talking. whopps.

You do not need to kill the Gur for Astarion to like you.

I have played so many co-op games and read so many people saying they did this and idk why it's kind of sad.

In my first playthrough, I was romancing Astarion. I left him in camp to fight the Hag. Found the Gur, talked to him, and just bounced telling him good luck. Astarion was chill about it when I told him in the camp and I forgot all about the Gur. Until act 3. Right after Cazador's fight.

For another solo play through, I had Astarion with me and told the Gur God speed with that and Astarion got pissy that we let him live. It was a -10 approval which was lame BUT it was whatever.

Spoilers below, I guess

But TLDR version

You wanna do the same thing every single time, be my guest. But I feel like you'll get more out of the game changing your playstyle to see every single aspect of Astarion and fall in love with him every single time.

Reuniting the Gur with his two vampire daughters felt good, to see the unconditional love made me think that Astarion seeing this man, the monster hunter, with his monster daughter would understand that doing the right thing might not feel good at the time but later down the road it will.

I just feel like a majority of people trying to romance him has a hard time because they see the disapproval for every single good thing you do and panic and restart the game. It's a -1, relax, just continue your play through. Astarion's mildly annoyed by your actions, that's all.

That being said, doing every single thing to gain Astarion's approval is a bit funny. Told Zevlor for the first time I got better things to do cause I have an emergency, normally I now just bounce from the conversation so I can quickly leave act 1, and Astarion basically said I was unhinged and fun. Astarion pls we have a tadpole in our brain. And jokes on you, we're still gonna maybe help them lol

Romancing Astarion is NOT hard and I do not get it at all. I didn't change how I play, I was a good man and yet I see so many post that people are struggling.

i replayed book 3 so that i could see some scenes that i didn’t get during my first playthrough so here’s a simple thread of some screenshots w/ commentary from m’s route (warning: there’s a lot) that had me tearing my hair out, gnawing on my own arm, throwing up, & entering a comatose state - spoilers for book 3 below the cut !

this scene had me

i’ve played thru nate’s route & adam’s route w/ this scene and i love how inconsolable mason is in comparison - like he’s not rational abt it at all lmao (i haven’t played f’s route w/ this scene yet so i can’t comment on that)

just the casual “i tried to make sure we didn’t wake u up” felt so domestic- i know some ppl are probably like “this is literally the bare minimum” but no this is the equivalent of a declaration of love for m (i swear i’m not delusional)

the way he’s so attentive & is almost banging down the door to help us but still maintaining that boundary is so sweet

this is truly The Scene for me in m’s romance- like i feel like i could write an essay on the emotional depth and intimacy of this moment. this was hotter than any sex scene ever imo

this is one of those scenes that really helps encapsulate the dynamic between angela (my detective) and mason- like my detective is a lot more open w/ her positive feelings vs. mason is more closed off in that regard + can’t help but look for an ulterior motive to kindness. it kind of reminded me of an earlier moment where mason & angela are arguing over whether compassion is a weakness or strength in the field; also, they are so good at calling out each other’s weaknesses & then following through with subtle reassurances? like i remember an earlier scene where mason is like “u don’t have to thank me for apologizing for being a dick” or when he trusts her capabilities & then here where my detective is like “i mean what i’m saying” or after the whole necklace scene where she’s like “u don’t owe me anything for helping u” is just perfect. she’s always addressing his issues w/ emotional intimacy & trust while he’s always addressing her issues w/ self-doubt & avoidance of negative emotions

this was so cute ??? my detective is a people person (i really doubled down on the opposites attract trope w/ these two huh) so she was happy to take over but it was just so sweet to witness mason defer to us during such a personal scene

get u man who’d rip off the arms the arms of anyone who’d try to touch u … listen the detective can say “that’s intense” all they want but we all know they found that hot- also him just casually throwing in the “i don’t like not being near you” had me sick

i chose nate as my bestie bc his & angela’s personalities just mesh so well together (they kind of give sibling vibes? not in a realistic way but like in a “this is what an only child thinks siblings are like” way- ie. sickeningly sweet) anyways, i just like nate’s subtle digging to see what mason’s intentions are + mason’s swift response of “i’m not playing around”

the way he beelines to her … the way he goes “i couldn’t have lasted thirty seconds here w/out u” pls give me a swift death at the hands of a firing squad thank you

& that is all? maybe? that is all until i decide to replay the other routes w/ my other detectives or come up w/ more things to scream about with m’s route

Long rambly post about Phantom Liberty incoming cause HHHHH

Gonna put it under a read more just in case, also cause it got long, and bc I know people will still wanna avoid spoilers!

So.

Mr. Hands, amirite??

Holy shit, he is so cool XD Different than what I imagined, but so much better. Pure visuals-wise he's giving the biggest Sheogorath vibes, and a little bit of an older Dragon Age Dorian. I'm so here for it. Also the fucking phonecall he was on with his kid I assume when you first enter his office omfg XD The dad-est dad to ever dad, then a political schemer and so fashionable XD Also, he deserves his nickname 100%, his cyberhands are so cool. Also, the first fixer that offered Vince a drink and Vince actually didn't have to decline cause it was tea (and I bet it was really good, high-end shit, and that's how you get Vince xD). Also his gigs are all so good like... so varied, and always with difficult choices or just super interesting and entertaining storylines. "Waiting for Dodger" has gotta be my favourite one so far, and I'm excited for what's to come still!

Sure as hell this is gonna be a profitable business relationship (and I'm also super duper intrigued about his political interests and what he's planning/ where he's seeing Dogtown's future like... he doesn't like Hansen in power, he's affiliated with the VDBs AND Netwatch, and I'm just so.... I'm smelling political change, and I'm a bit sad that V didn't get some more inquisitive dialogue options about it all (but maybe that would've been too much at that point... ooor maybe with a few more gigs done the picture will get clearer).

Then also a bit more lore and hhhhh... I don't think I'll incorporate this bit into Vince's canon as is, but again, with everything Corpo-background-lore stuff in PL so far, I love the overall super dark and grim picture being painted like, gimme the angst!! Imagine being so dependent on your job/ so brainwashed/ under your bosses' control they can manipulate you into killing a guy just a few years older than you at that point with the promise "that's the last one... for a while, at least. Here's your raise". This also again lines up really well though with what I actually do have in Vince's background during his time at Arasaka, looking at the vibes and pressure and everything in general (even though the first guy he killed was someone else 👀 but similarly, it also gave him a raise, his supervisors' trust, and so so so many mental health problems).

BUT THEN FINALLY PARTY TIME!!

Maaan... the whole setup of sneaking into the Black Sapphire was so amazing to begin with. The diving portion gave me the worst claustrophobia and flashbacks to all the cave diving accident videos I've ever watched xD The portion with the sniper nest was also so cool but I failed epically at it repeatedly xD Did pull it off like a pro on my third attempt though xD I wish you could do it without having to kill anyone and I figure maybe it is possible. Definitely gonna play around some more on my second playthrough that is surely to come!

Then V's disguise I actually dig so hard XD Purple and black and gold super fancy suit, hell yes! And a nicely tailored one, too. Although Reed's outfit was also 👀👀👀 The main game was really missing a "infiltrate this party" like quest, and damn, did PL deliver with this one.

Then of course I had to have a look around and all the special guests made me so fucking happy xD I was crying at Hideshi Hino and Johnny pointing him out, he was one I would not have expected to meet XD Then also all the newsanchors!! Month ago I was like "ah, it makes sense that Gillean Jordan and Ziggy Q and whatnot have character models, but still so sad that they don't actually have a physical appearance in game". Phantom Liberty is the gift that gives on giving in that regard with fulfilling my little silly wishes like that XD And of course they're all horrible and awful, and I love it XD Goooood-Morning-Night-City Stanley raging about disowning his daughter cause she's into exotic implants, Holt conspiring with Arasaka, again, of course... And Lizzy Wizzy not really happy to see Vince cause I didn't help her get rid of Liam xDD

Also fucking damn... Songbird. First of all, her chrome is insane o.o I'm so torn about what to think of the whole situation like... I can definitely see what Reed says, that she's playing both sides, using Kurt to get her (and V's) cure, the other way around playing him by not actually wanting the president dead... But idk. I feel like something doesn't quite add up just yet. And that is: why even bring V in the equation? If this all is *really* just about curing herself and freeing herself from Myers' clutches, as Kurt says later on, why bring in a random merc with a ticking timebomb in his head and not the best track record when it comes to breaking into high security locations to steal things? (sorry Vince). Idk. I'm not buying it just yet, neither is Vince. He doesn't trust Songbird still, neither the president, both are still a means to his ends - although he also doesn't wish anything bad on So Mi as such, like, she is fighting just as hard for her cure as he is for his, so he can definitely relate to her struggles and whatnot. Being degraded to a tool for people to use as they see fit.

Reed gained a little trust and sympathy with coming clean about how the FIA got rid of him, that Songbird had to pull the trigger on him, metaphorically speaking and like... Vince is not sure if Reed wants revenge on Songbird or actually help her, or if maybe he wants revenge on the president and the whole "I'm just serving my country" thing is not just a very good act. He wouldn't be surprised at least if in the end this all does turn into a personal vendetta. Also, on a meta level I really loved Reed being like, despite everything they did to him, he still feels loyal to the FIA and wants to work for them, in a "I know my place" vibe - similarly how a Corpo!V can be like "I know where I come from" towards Hanako at Embers, that the FIA, in the end, is not too different from a Corp that still has Reed captured how Arasaka has Vince captured and he also couldn't guarantee to not go back to them if they offered him a deal good enough. So, on that basis, I feel like they can really understand each other.

Then these two omfg. Cackling at some details in their profiles still XD The whole roulette scene stressed me out so much, but it was also so fun and unique, really something new! Although internally dying when Aurore got all touchy feely all of a sudden and just picturing Vince utterly losing it internally and just wanting out of there, and then surpressing a sigh of relief when she's like "it's not like I wanna hop into bed with him" to her brother after being scolded xD Like hhhhhh playing this game with a gay OC is so fucking uncomfortable sometimes xD If I had one wish for a future Cyberpunk game it would be more male characters shamelessly flirting with the MC like this oooor at least giving everyone, regardless of gender etc etc the option to turn sth like that down to begin with, like... "oh, sorry, think you misunderstood, I wasn't actually flirting with you".

A little more than how I imagined him than most of the others I met so far, but he is also pretty out there. He sure as hell is a lot more layered than what you would think at first glance and I really really love that. I played Vince a little snappy and straightforward during this convo with him, cause I wanted to see how he would react, if he'd keep his calm or if he'd be aggressive or whatnot and in hindsight I wish I'd been a bit more friendly XD Also something for my second plathrough when I really make my canon choices, this first run is for testing the waters and getting to know everyone. THEN I can think properly about "how would my character even react here, truly" xD

Overall this was such a fucking good mission like, holy fuck. So much to see, so much to do, so many people to speak to, I feel like I've forgotten half of the intel I learned already - another reason why I'm looking forward to a second run xD

I still cannot even remotely guess how the DLC is gonna end too like, I feel like after every main mission everything I knew is off the table and there's a whole new array of options I hadn't even considered before. I do hope we get a lot lot lot more stuff on Kurt, cause he is being pinned as... not quite the bad guy in all of this, but not someone you should wanna side with. But I just know there is a lot more to all of this. I could kinda see that it does end up being something like "Songbird has to stay with the FIA and as Myers' pet, Kurt gets defeated, but we get our cure" versus "Songbird gets freed with Kurt's help but all hell breaks loose in the NUSA and Reed won't be happy about it". I feel like, whatever happens though, there's gonna be a war in a few years time at the latest, be it another corporate war, something with the NUSA and Myers schemings (that I'm 0% surprised about btw, do not trust her one bit still and that won't change anymore XD) but yeah.

YEAH. Next up: identity theft! I'm really fucking scared of that cause I remember one of the first trailers where V is getting that mask-like thing put on their face - I'm guessing exactly what Alex has, and I'm guessing it's cyberware... That would be such a big NOPE for Vince, holy shit XD I prefer my flesh-face, thank you! If this is not something that's reversible I pass.

We shall see... but yes. Damn. What a fucking good story so far, even with my long breaks inbetween playing, I'm still hooked anew every time I get to continue!

Ending spoiler for PL:

Okay so I have some thoughts about the ending. This is just my own opinion and I won't go to in depth because I'm terrible at explaining my feelings, lol.

I didn't hate it. I didn't love it either. I get people's frustrations.

Personally for me sacrificing Johnny was a no brainer, and some may come for me for that lmao, I'm sorry. At least in my headcanon, Johnny and V were close but Johnny always made it very clear he'd never want V to die because of him. There was a brief moment where V would have given himself up for Johnny, until he found his family with the Aldecaldos. It gave him a reason to wanna keep going, and than falling in love with Goro kind of sealed the deal, he was going to find a way to survive, with or without Johnny. So back to this ending where it either wipe him or find another way, V chooses to wipe him and go for the surgery even though he isn't aware yet of what'll happen to him afterwards, because all he wanted to do was live.

Now what hurt me was seeing how fragile and frail he was, and this is where I didn't like it. The fact he can no longer have implants or it'll kill him. He has suffered enough in his life, in canon and in my own personal hc. What made him feel important was being a Merc, it was helping people. It was feeling like he meant something. He felt like a nobody his whole life, and in ways he truly was a nobody who wanted to be a somebody so fucking bad. He made a name for himself in NC and it got taken from him all because of a stupid mistake he made.

The price you pay for wanting to live but at what cost?

Now in my first playthrough of PL he didn't meet Kerry yet, and didn't romance Panam so it wasn't really sad. I hadn't even met up with River yet, so the only two people he had were Vik and Misty. And Misty was leaving too. V should have just run off with her to Poland. Seeing Vik as a corpo ripper rubbed me the wrong way but you gotta do what you gotta do and V wouldn't judge. He'd done questionable things in his life too.

For the holocalls.. I have to talk about it. Seeing Goro on the run was intense. The way he looked (which was so fucking good, his hair wjdbwjdje), but the fact that he's on the run for being accused of killing Hanako is insane. It still seems he's roaming around NC. I was thinking of some HC of meeting up with Goro and becoming fixers in the badlands. Give goro that nomad wish, they could be together and all that cute shit. I hate to see how all this ended for him. That "you are a very strong medicine" line struck me.. I'll take it as a compliment, lol.

Now I just need to figure out if I wanna change HC's or not. This ending is not a definitive canon ending for my kiddo. But it's a thought. This whole DLC was incredible and I'm ready for round 2. Not looking forward to Cerberus again though xD

Oooh okay so my thoughts about Johnny. So, first thing is first, he took awhile to grow on me. I actually really didn't like him at first because I thought he was an abrasive asshole lol. Cuz, ya know, he is. And I didn't go into Cyberpunk knowing ANY of the lore from the TTRPG (I still don't really know any of the lore from the ttrpg).

When I first played V she was incredibly hostile towards Johnny throughout the entire game, the only reason she changed that tune is because I wanted to get the secret ending that wasn't-so-secret-to-me because my husband had played the game. So I chose V's dialogue accordingly. And it was during Johnny's quest line that he really grew on me and I love him even though he's a massive jerk. I think the concept of he and V becoming more and more meshed to the point that they don't know what parts were him and what parts were her is fascinating and I have a soft spot for their unlikely friendship and banter :)

This second playthrough, now that I've solidified my take on V more, has been not quite as aggressively hostile as it had been. She still really does not get along with JOhnny at first, but they grow on each other a lot more a lot quicker. And I think, deep down (and as the game shows), Johnny does come around to care for V and whatever complicated mess of feelings that opens up.

I discussed it somewhere in a post I cannot find, but I haven't really settled on one of the canon endings as 'canon' for my V yet because nothing truly fits exactly how she interacts with Night City. HOWEVER, pulling from some Phantom Liberty stuff here for Johnny and V thoughts and headcanons, I'll toss those and the Judy/V headcanons beneath a cut!

Spoilers for PL starting NOW

I found the post I rambled in so I am just going to copy and paste that for everyone's convenience (not PL, but the secret ending):

I cannot shake the horror of V waking up after Mikoshi and her head is just…dead silent for the first time in a long while. It’s deafening. It’s terrifying. It feels wrong.

There’s no Johnny materializing in the corner of her vision with some quick remark. Some ongoing internal monologue. It’s silent. It’s…empty. It feels like part of her has been ripped out of her, like there’s a hole that needs to be filled.

She’s been working towards this for however long. This has been the GOAL it’s what Johnny urged her to do, there in the end.

So why does she feel so empty? Why does she feel panicky and guilty and everything she shouldn’t be feeling?

If this was what she’s been working towards, why does her voice tremble when she calls out “…Johnny?”

And why do her eyes burn when there’s no response? Something in her has been fundamentally broken since the Relic brought her back.

Now multiply all that previous sentiment combined with the PL ending where V goes through the surgery. She broke some kind of trust with Johnny when she did that if I remember correctly, but she did it to preserve the life she'd been trying to make for herself. Only for that to slip through her fingers like smoke. What she gave up to go through with that surgery, leaving things on "bad terms" with Johnny like that, only to wake up to have two years of her life gone. Judy's gone, moved on, like most everyone else V had close to her at the end...leaving her with nothing. No one. Hollowed out and empty with nothing but Night City around her. And I think in those times she probably wishes that she didn't go through with any of this. That she'd let Johnny have her body because she's alone anyway, she might as well have had him up to the very end ;--;

Judy/V Headcanons

-First and foremost I guess I should say that my V and Judy were never meant to last forever. I love them together in the time they have, I think they're sweet, but they're flame that fizzles out fast. They were a fire lit in the wake of immense tragedy and I think Judy was searching for someone, even subconsciously, to hold onto in the overwhelming ocean of grief and pain she was going through. It also just comes down to the fact that Judy was always going to leave Night City, V never was. V doesn't want to go out in a blaze of glory or become the queen of the Afterlife; that was Jackie's dream not hers, but NC is her home and she can't imagine herself anywhere else.

-Judy tries really hard to get V to leave NC, gets her perhaps halfway warmed up to the thought of leaving. Then the raid on Arasaka happens and V comes back a shell of herself. Judy thinks that maybe V needs time, but it becomes clear in her mind that V is more a ghost that haunts NC than herself anymore.

-Despite V being tied to NC, she would do anything to grant Judy's wish to get out of the city. Even if it mean that V wouldn't be going with her. She isn't lying when she says she's working towards it--I imagine that either in any ending that has Judy and V apart, Judy still gets a fat sum of eddies into her account from V. Her "get out of town fund".

-They have a great dynamic, they get along like a house on fire. To Judy, V is fiery, has a sense of humor like a whip, is a little dumb like an excitable golden retriever, and makes her feel safe and secure for awhile. She’s so intensely V in a Night City that tries to squash anyone who dares to live that vibrantly.

-V starts to change, as the Relic’s malfunctions get worse. She starts adopting mannerisms, ways of speaking, that aren’t entirely her. They’re Johnny. The cadence of her voice is off sometimes, she starts wearing different clothes–that ratty replica Samurai jacket Rogue found for her. She starts smoking more–the old V never would’ve touched a cigarette with a ten foot pole. And I think those subtle shifts raise alarm bells, raise some walls for Judy. Especially after the incident while diving and seeing exactly what V’s time running out looks like. I think as much as that date starts Judy and V's relationship for real, it also starts ticking down to the end. Because as bright and hot as those passion flames burn, Judy knows what's on the other side.

-Outside of the pits of angst lol, I can see V and Judy, ripping through the streets of NC on V's motorcycle. Judy clinging to V, wind billowing her jacket as V drives way faster than she probably should, to the outskirts of the city where they sit on an outcropping to watch the sun set over the skyline. That's the energy they have. The kind of relationship that sweeps you off your feet, the air out of your lungs.

-I don't really think Judy knows what to do with V lol. She doesn't know what to do with the big muscled merc who sings bad syth-pop at the top of her lungs in Judy's van and throws herself down like a big puppy on Judy's couch with a smile that lights up the entire room. And I think V is the one to get some of the most unfiltered Judy that NC ever sees.

-Looking at things from The Sun ending, despite the shadow that remains as V, I think for a moment Judy considers what it would be like to stay in NC with her. That perhaps NC wouldn't be so bad if she had someone she loved, who wasn't eaten alive by the city, to face it with. But then she realizes that she lost some part of V in Arasaka Tower that she won't get back, and realizes her days with V are still numbered. And that's when those walls come slamming back up, when she makes that choice to cut V off before she can hurt Judy, even unintentionally. In her mind she has to protect herself, there was always that last 5% of trust that she never gave to V.

The Adventures of Yin: The Super Evil Dark Urge

Finally completed my first dark urge playthrough, and wow what a journey! I decided to be the worst version of a dark urge I could possibly be-- anything to make daddy Bhaal happy!!

I took constant screenshots whenever I thought a scene looked cool or pretty. Will leave it under a line so it doesn't consume people's timelines lol

Final thoughts: I really enjoyed going through the game and just not giving a shit about anyone who was not Minthara, Lae'zel and Astarion XD But I also wouldn't do this type of run again I think, you miss out on a lot of content when you start killing everyone (shocker I know). I initially wanted to join the absolute cult but the game just does not let you, and that's when I realised we can't quite do everything we want in this game.

A big reason I wanted to do an evil druge run was because I also wanted to romance Minthara. I started this before patch 5 where you could get her by knocking her out sadly :// But while I really do love her, she's still majorly bugged out. The game recognised we were in a relationship, but Minthara herself never did unless it was to tell me she would kill me if I slept with the drow twins lol. The only time I could smooch her was at the very end of the game and it was one time... suffice to say, I was extremely disappointed in that department ^^;

Also I didn't realise the absolute ending didn't have a epilogue T_T I mean I guess that was obvious in hindsight tho, with Yin in charge there's going to be no one left alive to even enjoy a epilogue. At least I got a cool screenshot out of it tho lol

I'd give this run a 7/10. There's a lot less to do when you're straight up evil, but it's fun to go round doing and saying whatever you want. Minthara is my queen but Larian pls fix her so she recognises she's in a romance with you <33

I just finished Phantom Liberty and your spoilers are now free again to flood my dash :)

I really enjoyed playing it and the outcome of PL would rather fit in nicely with Val's hc if I would make a few changes, but I won't. Joris and Vicco are both not tied to canon so there's nothing to change either.

Spoilers:

I did this first playthrough with Vicco's save because he also romanced Kerry but in his hc they are acquaintances at best. I was so prepaired for a fuck up at the end that I didn't want to do this with Val.

That call you get with Kerry rubbed me totally the wrong way. I know I was gone for 2 years and he couldn't know I would call at this time. But this call was like: "Tell me I'm not important enough (anymore) without telling me." Although it is in character for him, at least in someway but it is still very hard to hear when you just went out of a coma.

But maybe I'm just too emotional aabout a videogame and pixel man.

no but seriously that was SO COOL. SO COOL!!! i LOVED the decision for Bronya to lie to the rest of Belobog about Cocolia’s involvement in the whole event, such a cool subversion! i feel like the whole of Jarilo-IV and it’s issues are portrayed really well, with just the right amount of realism to make it feel like the struggles are important, but not too much to bog you down in how depressing it is. definitely leaves a lot of room for fans to explore those issues on their own!

i also feel like they do a really good job in HSR of making you, the MC, feel like...actually pretty cool. like i cannot imagine a moment at all in my playthrough of genshin where something happened and i was like, “holy shit i did that??? that was fucking SICK.” like idk the stakes just feel higher, the production feels grander. i know a lot of people are sick of hearing this game compared to genshin, but i can’t help it - as someone who was very invested (and then subsequently very frustrated) with genshin’s story, i can’t help but compare the writing. and i can safely say that HSR’s writing, worldbuilding, and story have all made VAST improvements on genshin’s style. i’ve seen it been said that this is partly due to the fact that genshin had an open-world structure, making it harder to write character-driven stories, but i think it goes beyond that. HSR has taken genshin’s ability to create lively and lived-in worlds, and connected it seamlessly with the arcs and experiences of the character’s. i always felt like every choice a character made in genshin was disconnected from the actual world surrounding them - that is far from the case in HSR.

BUT i have been waiting for the Fire Trailblazer, and they’re here and now I need a new team. my old team - Trailblazer/Sampo/March 7th/Asta - wasn’t perfect, but they worked pretty well together. now i am STRUGGLING. i’ve been looking forward to using Clara and the Fire Trailblazer for SO LONG but they KINDA SUCK ON THE SAME TEAM ASDFASFDAFS. right now i’m sporting Clara/Sampo/Trailblazer/Herta as i finish my business around Belobog, and honestly it’s not the best. i am realize pretty quickly that the fourth member needs to be some sort of support. i’ve been against using Natasha for so long, but honestly i might have to enlist her on the team - there’s no way it’s gonna hold with the Trailblazer’s shielding abilities on its own. my other option is Tingyun, who i’ve read is a really good single-ally buffer, but.... i haven’t met her in game, and i like using character i’ve met and like! i’m a sucker like that ig

i think i’ll just juggle between March, Asta, and Herta until i either pull something, meet Tingyun, OR just cave and level Natasha. if anybody bothers reading all this and has any suggestions, pls give them!!

i think, in terms of teambuilding, next on the horizon is relic grinding, which is gonna be its one fucking thing. yay.

LAST THING: once i fully finish all the main-mission stuff to do in Belobog and finish my first trailblazing mission, then i am going to start writing >:3c the poll i put up hasn’t finished, but i do plan to start with whatever that result is. super excited!! it’s been forever since i’ve written stuff, and this fandom is so new, so there’s a lot of ideas that haven’t been done yet!!
