Akira Toriyama - Creator/Writer/Artist on Dragon Ball and Sand Land and Dr. Slump, Artist for Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger and Blue Dragon - Dies at 68
I know everybody's talking about it, but I feel like everyone is focusing 100% on how he was the Dragon Ball guy. And while that's undoubtedly his most famous work, I'd say that he had many famous works. He designed all of the Dragon Quest series' characters, which is probably his second-biggest contribution to culture. He also created/designed both characters and settings for the seminal RPG Chrono Trigger, designed the characters for the Tobal series of fighting games, designed all characers for the Blue Dragon series, and wrote/drew NUMEROUS other manga, with his second-most-famous probably being either Sand Land or Dr. Slump. You can get a better look at his entire oeuvre here.
I was legitimately stunned when the news broke. It always felt like he'd keep going forever, y'know?

Console Fighting Games of 1997 Tobal 2
Second and final entry in the Tobal series of fighting games on the PlayStation, Tobal 2 like its predecessor the games characters are designed by Akira Toriyama.
Tobal No 1 sold extremely well in Japan with over 700k copes sold, this was likely due to the FF7 demo that came with the game, these sales however did not translate to the US where the game failed to break the 100k mark, as a result Tobal 2 was not released outside of Japan.

While they both go about it in different ways and one (Legends) definitely does it better than the other (Evolution) I feel like Mega Man Legends and Evolution exist on that cozy axis in regards to their tone/worlds.
Obviously that's because they have similar premises (Adventurer explores ruins to make dosh + uncover some legendary thing that turns out to be a device with a 'kill all humanity/not!humanity function) and a main difference in that one is fantastical and has airships and what not while the other is a more down to earth and semi-realistic including crippling debt setting, but still.
Am I just trying to say I'd be down for a crossover between these two settings? Maybe.
