A fic detail I don’t talk about very much despite writing TST for almost 2 years now is that the entire fic exists in large part because I read a different fic that bugged me so much that I had to write a novel-length rebuttal about it

And I don’t blame them for wanting to write post-canon low-stakes fluff, godspeed and safe travels to them, but I just think that when a character has had a total memory/personality rewrite and then watched 10+ people die graphically and then gets released back into their old normal life (which they don’t remember) with basically no in-between or aftercare, and then two middle aged strangers invite themselves over and say “we’re so proud of how well you competed on the televised murder game and we’re glad you’re alive and oh right silly us let us introduce ourselves: we’re your mom and dad”—

I just think that deserves some narrative attention! I need to sink my teeth into that and shake it like a chew toy! There is so much going on here!
