Belladonna of Sadness (Eiichi Yamamoto, 1973) Cast: voices of Tatsuya Nakadai, Aiko Nagayama, Katsuyuki Ito, Shigako Shimegi, Masaya Takahashi, Natsuka Yashiro, Masakane Yonekura. Screenplay: Yoshiyuki Fukuda, Eiichi Yamamoto. Cinematography: Shigeru Yamazaki. Production design: Kuni Fukai. Animation: Gisburo Sugii. Music: Masahiko Sato. There are images of extraordinary beauty and sinister power in Belladonna of Sadness, but they are also mixed with Pop Art clichés; psychedelia borrowed from Peter Max and his acolytes, album covers, and the Beatles' film Yellow Submarine (George Dunning, 1968); and kitsch reminiscent of greeting cards and nudie illustrations from back issues of Playboy. That is to say, it's a mixed bag. There seems to have been at some point an attempt to turn the film's fable into a feminist statement, but the link of the story of a violated woman who turns into a witch with the role of women in the French Revolution is tacked on unconvincingly at the film's end. Nevertheless, it's like no other animated film I've seen, and not just because its images have a striking, violent erotic content. The story is about Jeanne, who on the night of her wedding to Jean is subjected to the ruler's droit de seigneur, but not just to him: She is raped by his courtiers as well. Trigger warnings are appropriate at this moment, because the rape is signified by images of Jeanne being torn apart with a torrent of blood that fills the screen. Eventually, Jeanne is tempted by the devil (a terrific voice performance by Tatsuya Nakadai), who appears to her in the form of a penis (no kidding). She allows him to possess her body but not her soul, and through various episodes, including a harrowing treatment of the Black Death, she prevails, striking out against nobility and the church. At one point she "liberates" the peasantry by means of an orgy, a sexual fantasy that is both astonishing and sometimes hilarious. Eventually, she is caught and burned at the stake, but the implication is that, like her namesake Jeanne D'Arc's, her cause will prevail. The film's vision is ultimately incoherent, but its audacity is worth experiencing.

Abe's “ties” with the Unification Church were politically motivated
Tumblr media
Korea Times  July 14, 2022
By Kang Hyun-kyung
https://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/nation/2022/07/113_332706.html
Yuji Hosaka, a naturalized Korean professor at Sejong University in Seoul, said media coverage about the Unification Church has increased in Japan …
Hosaka said the Unification Church seems to be seen by many Japanese as a localized religious movement, rather than a religious sect that was imported from Korea, noting this could be another reason for the apparent absence of hate crimes against Koreans.
He claimed that Shinzo Abe's "ties" with the Unification Church were politically motivated. Abe and the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) tried to take advantage of the religious movement for their elections, because the Unification Church has an anti-communist affiliate that has some 10 million members, according to him. "In Japan, the registered members of the Unification Church are 600,000 or so, but those who are affiliated with the anti-communist group [IFVOC founded in Japan in 1968] are far greater than the church members mainly because the latter is non-religious and people can join without being affiliated with the church," he said. These members were a key political asset to Abe as, due to their huge membership, they could make or break his elections, Hosaka went on to say.
The Unification Church is one of the new religious movements that allegedly created several social problems in Japan. A source familiar with the Unification Church said that it has been embroiled in [many hundred] legal actions as some of its members hired lawyers to get their past donations back. Criticism emerged about the religious sect for it allegedly solicited its members to make huge donations, he said.

Fukuda Takeo on the LDP and Moonies Relationship
Nikkan Gendai interviewed the former secretary of LDP politician Fukuda Takeo (Prime Minister in the 1970s). He says that Unification Church sent young women to lawmakers’ offices as unpaid volunteer workers. He didn’t think it was strange because it was well known that Kishi was friends with Rev. Moon.

He also said that most LDP lawmakers supported Rev. Moon’s International Federation for Victory over Communism back then, and that the LDP-UC relationship has probably continued until today.

He was very impressed with Tomino Yoshiyuki's Triton of the Sea, but said he had no intention of doing animation. A senior who works at Toyoo Ashida's studio live said, "I'm busy with Sunrise work, but I need someone to decipher the continuity and help with the work." So I went to help and heard that he was good at deciphering Conti, so he was hired the same day. He is a newcomer, but he was in charge of setting production at Invincible Robo Try The G7, and then participated in setting production for the strongest Robo Dai Oja.
Animation work was fun, but it was an unstable industry with low wages and no insurance, so I thought the future was uncertain. I quit Sunrise to take over the family business, a drapery store. returned to Kanda Takeyuki, whom he met at Garat, taught Fukuda how to draw storyboards, and during the Armored War Dragona, Kanda said, "I think you can direct it." So, I started directing in earnest. He begins his full-fledged career as a director.[1] Because of this, Fukuda mentions Kanda Takeyuki as his teacher. He acted under the name of Mitsuo Fukuda (福田 満夫 or ふくだみつお) for setting production and directing responsibilities. Since he worked as a setting producer in the early days, he wrote and supervised most of the settings in the works he directed.신성한 이혼 다시보기 7화 8화 누누 무료 7회 8회
After that, he went through directing for Demon God Hero Waru Wataru and Madong King Grand Zotte, and was promoted to directing chief in Hero Ex Kaiser, and was in charge of the bank scene, which is considered a famous scene in these 3 works. He is said to have been called the master of the bank scene in Sunrise because of his good skills. He has a heroic beauty and uses refined directing. The summon scene and bank shot that Granjo fans like in Korea are also the work of this person. In particular, the influence of Fukuda's directing on the Hero series was so great that director Katsuyoshi Yatabe copied his directing from Fibird, the Hero of the Sun, and Dagan, the Legendary Hero, even though Fukuda did not participate. As Shinji Takamatsu takes over as director, you can see a direction that is a little different from Fukuda. Even in the Wataru series, from 2 onwards, Fukuda does not participate, but the direction of the back dragon sword directed by Fukuda in 1 and the direction of the Holy Dragon sword in 2 are the same. In addition, in the end, someone else is doing it, so it gives a somewhat awkward feeling.신성한 이혼 다시보기 7화 8화 누누 무료 7회 8회
In 1991, he made his debut as a director by directing and storyboarding at Shinsegi GPX Cyber Formula. Afterwards, in Cyber Formula Double One and Zero, which were released as OVAs, he succeeded in directing the original plan, director, and screenplay by himself.
He only participated in Mobile Suit V Gundam once as a continuity, and at this time, he studied directing under director Tomino. This became a springboard, and in 2002 he became the general manager of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.
After finishing the Cyber Formula series, he supervised GEAR Warriors Dendo, and participated in the fighting crash Gear Turbo as a 3D chief, creating action scenes.신성한 이혼 다시보기 7화 8화 누누 무료 7회 8회
After Sid, there are no special works or projects, but Sid-related settings, supervising plastic models, and directing and producing other animations within Sunrise. Rumors circulated that he was kicked out of the industry and became unemployed, but he denied it, saying, "If I don't work, how can I live with my family?" He was once a freelancer, but seems to have gone back to taking care of Sunrise.
And he was in charge of directing the opening movie for Warlord Shinhee ~Battle Master Mk.2~, which was released on the PSP. #
On March 29, 2019, he returned to his directorial position as the director of MEGOHIME MEGOHIME, an animation jointly produced by Fukushima GAINA and Miharu Town, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. However, it's not a TV series, it's a local PR animation, and the running time is pretty short, around 10 minutes. The production team [2] and the voice actors are confused about such a topic. [3]
After a while, in October 2014, he participated as a creative producer in a new animation called Cross Ange Angel and Dragon's Yunmura.신성한 이혼 다시보기 7화 8화 누누 무료 7회 8회
In fact, there are cases where it is said that it is unemployed because of the long gap between works, and there are cases where it is said that it is buried in the industry, but at least the former is close to slander. There are a lot of people who do directing activities with such a hiatus, and it takes quite a bit of time to create the setting or proceed with production. In the first place, there are dependents and the children are young, but if they were kicked out of the industry or unemployed, the family would have been ruined. He is strictly watching his work activities within Sunrise. It looks like this because of Sidman's activities that have been holding on for 10 years. After the SEED TV version, it was produced as a special edition, and then developed into an HD remaster. And now, a special edition of SEED HD is also being produced. Most of my work life was devoted to creating and revising SEED, but many people know that I did nothing at this time. Of course, there are people who do multiple works, but there are also many people who spend their entire lives working on one project. There are many writers who are in a similar profession, cartoonists, who make a hit, then turn it into a follow-up or collector's edition, and there are many one-hit wonders who live their entire lives on a single hit song, such as composers and singers. People who live their entire lives with only one hit work are widely spread, regardless of the creative field. It is absurd to say that it is deformed. It's rare in the animation industry, but how can Sid be so successful that he's been alive for nearly 20 years…신성한 이혼 다시보기 7화 8화 누누 무료 7회 8회
Therefore, it is difficult to conclude that Fukuda has been buried in the industry. There is a faction of animators who prefer to work with Fukuda, and there are many cases in which animation directors release works every 4 to 5 years, but Fukuda has worked almost without a break, including the SEED remaster. Also, no matter how much Fukuda is criticized, there is a fan base that supports Fukuda, and except for Gear Warrior Dendo, there have been no ruined works since their debut, and they have given Sunrise and Bandai a huge amount of money. He has no reason to be buried [4] [5] The work that proves this is Cross Ange Angel and Dragon's Bon Dance, where Fukuda's position is the producer. To the extent of being a producer, it means that Fukuda's status within Sunrise is quite high. Being a producer is impossible without connections. Entering 2020-2021, he participated in the Gunpla Battle series such as Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE as a directing intermittently, and then resumed the position of director of the Gundam Seed theatrical version, 신성한 이혼 다시보기 7화 8화 누누 무료 7회 8회which is being promoted again to restart the Gundam Seed world view, and resumed the large-scale project of Sunrise. took over To put it bluntly, apart from his position within Sunrise and the commercial success of his films, it would be better to see that people's perception of him has become subtle due to the various problems in this document.
In 2020, he was in charge of directing some episodes of Gundam Build Divers Liraise, and the episodes he was in charge of were highly praised for directing.
It is said that he is quite talented in directing, but it is his wife and personality that have caused the biggest damage to his career. After coming to Cyber Formula Saga, I discussed with my wife that the story was not going well during planning, and then I suddenly selected my wife, Chiaki Morosawa, as the scriptwriter for the work. After that, I enjoyed working with my wife. Because his ability as a role was a mess, people who fell in love with Fukuda's directing talent in the past and became his fans also dropped out of school. It is to the extent that he divides his work career before and after participating in Morosa. As will be discussed later, it is also the 신성한 이혼 다시보기 7화 8화 누누 무료 7회 8회decisive reason why Mitsuo Fukuda's career as a manager has been sluggish compared to his time in Leeds, despite the high status of Mitsuo Fukuda within Sunrise.
In this respect, he is more outstanding as a director than a director, and can be seen as a runaway director who needs someone to stop him even when directing. Among the works he created, the well-received Cyber Formula and Cross Ange have in common that there was a separate person to stop and control Fukuda.[6]
Directing features[edit] He enjoys shooting Dutch angles, where he captures subjects at an angle with the camera, and is good at directing things by turning the camera angle round and round and capturing objects in three dimensions. This method of utilizing perspective and three-dimensional effect with diagonal composition is sometimes called Fukuda Pars (Fukuda Perspective) in industry terms. In addition, it is often used to increase the sense of speed by letting light rays or concentration lines pass through the background. Obari Masami, who worked as an animator under him, also followed this directing, and is known worldwide as Obari's directing, but the originator is Fukuda. It was Fukuda, not Obari Masami, who first performed the Brave Sword.신성한 이혼 다시보기 7화 8화 누누 무료 7회 8회
Since he has been producing the settings for robot animations for a long time, he structurally grasps which robots transform, where and which weapons are used and how they are used, and directs them. In the case of Gundam SEED, Fukuda made these settings, so when the game or plastic model comes out, it is supervised by Fukuda. Even if he was not active in his work, he continued to work and eat and live. Fukuda's production of transformation and synthesis gives the impression of transforming a real toy by turning it.
With this directing ability, the bank scenes of several animations of Sunrise were extracted in high quality. However, it is a problem that he uses a lot of bank scenes in his work. Rather, "I don't know why anime these days don't use bank scenes in the 2010s. If you use bank scenes effectively, the quality of the work gets better." I prefer the bank scene to the extent of emphasizing the importance of the bank scene.신성한 이혼 다시보기 7화 8화 누누 무료 7회 8회
Of course, it is true that if you select the bank scene well and use it in the right place, you can catch both rabbits: quality improvement and cost reduction. In fact, Fukuda's bank scenes, such as the Granjo summoning scene, Eldekaiser casting scene, Cyber Formula's drift and overtake scene, Freedom's first sortie scene, and the hero series' transformation fusion or special move scene, not only have excellent drawing quality, but also make unique viewers They are excellent bank scenes in that they make the mulberry fill up and 신성한 이혼 다시보기 7화 8화 누누 무료 7회 8회naturally lead to toy purchases. However, Fukuda does not simply use bank scenes, but overdoing them to the point of being a problem. Later on, it is not effective to use bank scenes from the beginning of the bank scenes that exceed 1/3 of the synagogue.

It's been a while since I watched Seed.. Uh explain the imperialism apologia? Just curious
(Okay, so you may not have asked for this spiel in particular, but you did ask and this is gonna be a lot and most of it will be under a cut to spare my followers.)
To preface this, it’s important to know that when Yoshiyuki Tomino, the director and writer of the original Mobile Suit Gundam series in 1979, helped create the series that started the franchise, he uses imagery and allegory to condemn the acts of the Axis powers in WWII, Japan included. There’s the infamous “Sieg Zeon” rallying cry meant to evoke “Heil Hitler”, but this also resulted in having a non-Japanese protagonist in a time when that was unheard of, and showing what is very clearly the Iron Cross and Rising Sun, the symbols of Germany and Japan during WWII, on banners displayed at the funeral of one of the early antagonists.
Gundam as a series was a reflection of the creator(s) time growing up in the aftermath of WWII, and Gundam as a franchise started with not just anti-war sentiment at its foundations, but also that of anti-fascism and anti-imperialism. A work that's meant to retell Mobile Suit Gundam’s plot will also inevitably address these themes.
So with that being said, it’s very insidious that Fukuda and Morosawa created a series that was meant to be Mobile Suit Gundam for a new generation, but completely ignored what was at the heart of what Tomino did for Gundam as a series and franchise by miring mainline CE in staggering amounts of Japanese jingoism.
As mentioned before, Amuro Ray is not Japanese. But because he was created during a time when this was “impossible,” Tomino and character designer Yasuhiko Yoshikazu still created an alternate backstory in case this wouldn’t be accepted.
Tumblr media
To Tomino and Yoshikazu, it was important that their protagonist not be Japanese to represent the fact that this piece of media reflecting on WWII does not have a Japan-centric worldview.
At the center of Gundam SEED is the protagonist named Kira Yamato. Just the name alone within this context is kind of alarming because “Yamato” is the name of one of the most prominent Japanese battleships in WWII.
Tumblr media
And if you want to take this a step further, the Yamato class of ships were named after a Japanese province which was itself named after the group of people that are in the ethnic majority in Japan. (To oversimplify, the Yamato is the equivalent of naming a battleship “Caucasian.”)
So the protagonist of Gundam SEED is named after a battleship that served as the icon for Japanese imperialism. And this character is known, even among fans of mainline CE, for being either incomprehensibly powerful or incomprehensibly difficult to kill, and he uses these qualities in order to pursue “pacifism” by way of defeating anyone that disagrees with him and Lacus instead of talking things out whenever possible.
And with Lacus, it’s telling that when she makes her debut as the de facto leader of the Three Ships Alliance in the second half of the series, she’s wearing what is unmistakably a Japanese-inspired outfit even though there’s no other indication that she has Japanese heritage of any kind. And while she’s wearing this outfit, she’s framed as an exemplary leader, looking on stoically even as enemy mobile suits explode right outside the deck window despite her and Kira’s self-professed pacifism and goal to not take any lives. She’s the only character that wears this sort of outfit, and she’s framed as being perfect compared to other leaders throughout mainline CE, including Durandal, Murrue, Natarle, and even Cagalli, who is supposed to be the leader of Orb, which is meant to stand in for Japan. The series is associating Japanese qualities and coding with more active and stalwart leadership, and “goodness.” This even extends to Lacus’ Haro speaking exclusively Japanese, while the Haro belonging to Meer, Lacus’ body double who gets treated with no sympathy by the narrative because she supports Durandal, speaks exclusively English.
As mentioned before, Orb, which is where Kira and his friends are from, is meant to stand in for Japan. Aside from the fact that Cagalli Yula Athha is a distinctly non-Japanese name, a lot of other details pretty much cement it as the Japan stand-in. Cagalli’s father is named Uzumi Nara Athha, while her uncle is named Homura. There’s her twin brother Kira Yamato, of course. A good chunk of the mobile suits and military technology used by Orb also have Japanese names, such as the Akatsuki, the Murasame, the Ootsukigata, the Kaguya, and the Ame-no-Mihashira. But I think the most relevant thing about Orb for the sake of this discussion is how Uzumi and most if not the rest of the leaders of Orb choose to go up in a huge explosion in order to make sure Kira and Lacus’ enemies don’t get to use the Mass Driver to get to space. Their deaths weren't even necessary in order to protect the protagonists, but instead, the choice to die instead of be captured by the enemy is framed as a decision of integrity. It’s hard to not associate it with Japan’s refusal to surrender for the most of the final stages of the war.
Except in this version of WWII created by Fukuda and Morosawa, Japan ends up coming out on top. And you basically have to keep these points in mind while watching Destiny and multiply that by 100. In Destiny, Kira and Lacus unilaterally dominate or outright kill all who oppose them while hypocritically preaching about pacifism.
It’s to be expected that a series from Japanese creators meant for a Japanese audience will reflect Japanese cultural values and tastes, but all of this is really bizarre and borderline insulting when the original Gundam didn’t do these things.
How does all of SEED’s Japan-centric messaging coming from the then-new branch of the franchise which was meant to be a retelling of the Gundam series that started it all exist?
The original Mobile Suit Gundam was a reflection on WWII that didn’t subscribe to paying attention to things like nationality. Or whether someone came from the Earth or space when it comes to recognizing each other’s inherent humanity that war always threatens to strip away like the narratives of SEED and Destiny do.
tl;dr – Tomino went out of his way to create a show that avoided being Japanese-centric, and by fundamentally misunderstanding that show, Fukuda and Morosawa went out of their way to create things that were.

Koji Takahashi and Jitsuko Yoshimura in Samurai Spy (Masahiro Shinoda, 1965) Cast: Koji Takahashi, Shintaro Ishihara, Eitaro Ozawa, Kei Sato, Mutsuhiro Toda, Tetsuro Tanba, Eiji Okada, Seiji Miyaguchi, Minoru Hodaka, Misako Watanabe, Yasunori Irikawa, Jitsuko Yoshimura, Jun Hamamura. Screenplay: Yoshiyuki Fukuda, based on a novel by Koji Nakada. Cinematography: Masao Kusugi. Art direction: Junichi Osumi. Film editing: Yoshi Sugihara. Music: Toru Takemitsu. Samurai Spy begins with a history lesson: a voiceover telling us about the chaos that set in after the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600 and the rivalry between the Tokugawa Shogunate and the Toyotomi Clan. Ordinarily, this kind of information would be helpful to the Western viewer in sorting out what takes place in the film, but such a welter of names and allegiances follows that it left me in a muddle -- one admirer of the film even suggests taking notes. But the point being made by director Masahiro Shinoda seems to be that even the participants in the conflicts of the time weren't sure who was on whose side at any given point. It came down to a spy vs. spy situation, with double crosses at every turn. Let it suffice to say that the central figure in the film is Sasuke Sarutobi, played with steely authority by Koji Takahashi, a spy for his clan who has wearied of unending war, but nevertheless gets caught up in its intrigues. At this point, I simply let myself go with the flow of the film, which is often extraordinarily beautiful. Shinoda intentionally underplays the action usually associated with samurai movies: One fight takes place in the literal fog of war, a field swept by fog, a kind of now-you-see-it, now-you-don't tease that adds to the film's essential point that in warfare it's not always clear who are the winners and who the losers. Another sequence, beautifully filmed by Masao Kusugi, involves a duel between two men that's viewed from a distance: We see them as small almost antlike figures on a hillside, warily circling each other to the point that we don't know who is who. The nature that surrounds them is blithely indifferent to what seems so important to the combatants. Shinoda uses sound eloquently to reinforce this theme, sometimes introducing the call of a bird in the background to emphasize the beauty that's being violated by mere human concerns. And the movie is certainly flavored by Toru Takemitsu's score. Shinoda is often a difficult filmmaker to comprehend, and I wouldn't recommend his films -- with the possible exception of Pale Flower (1964), which seems to me the most American-inflected of the movies of his that I've seen -- to someone just starting out with Japanese films, but Samurai Spy has incidental pleasures even when you don't quite follow what's going on. Just don't expect the clarity of a Kurosawa-style samurai film.
