Hello Anon, thank you for the ask! I made this a few months back for a draft I scrapped. It must have worked as a catalyst since Ozy came home during the white day event.

Hahahaha hope you like it anyway. :)

What made you ship it?

You know what, I really do hate to say this but it's GilArt's fault.

By now, I think you all know about my boundless love for Saber. Ozy, however, I was first interested in because of Prototype and then when I saw the art I was like. Oh. Oh no.

So, little old me researched literally every crumb there was to Ozy, found out he's quite similar to Gil, but tan different enough, especially concerning his boundless love for his wife Nefertari (and his other wives, good on you for being generous, Ozy!). And then I got interested.

I ended up drafting a really old like years old smut-ish angst fic involving Arturia and Ozy, in which they were both using each other as replacements. You know, for Gil and Nefertari. I'll put an excerpt right below the cut. (The excerpt is not NSFW it just made the ask long. )

And that's where it started. More below.

“You broke our agreement,” she hissed from under him, words cold and accusing.

“How dare you?” she whispered, “When I am not her...”

She turned to face him, wiping away his kiss with the back of her hand. “...And you are not him?”

In her mind, superimposed on Ozymandias, was a different face. One with fairer skin and hair. One with piercing blood eyes, and an arrogant curve of lip. One less gentle. One less kind. And she supposed right now, her lover saw her as his wife. With darker hair, with olive skin, with chocolate eyes and a soft smile. Arturia was everything but.

“You are not mine, King of Kings...and I am not yours.”

Ozymandias caressed her cheek with a heavy hand, exhaustion settling over him.

He found he no longer craved the tanned skin of his wife, nor the gentler gaze of her eyes. He still loved Nefertari. He always would. That was one thing that would never change. But every night he spent with this blonde woman, he was beginning to see her for her own beauty, not the qualities she shared with Nefertari.

He was falling for Arturia.

And he was tired of pretending.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

That they've both been married before. I've alluded to this briefly on the last ask, but I frequently hc them together acknowledging their marriage with other people. Nefertari is a huge part of Ozy's life and character after all, and though Guin isn't very much mentioned in Fate, she did play a significant role in Arturia's life. One of Saber's happiest days was their wedding day.

So if we put Ozyturia in conjunction with OzyxNefertari and Arturia/Guinevere or even Arturia/Gil, the dynamic we get is Widower x Widow/Divorcee, with the former missing love and the latter dismissing it.

Plus, it's not like they won't catch each other's interest in Chaldea, for example:

He's met Arthur and Lartoria both. Meeting Arturia, he supposes the gods must be trying to tell him something.

By his dialogue Ozymandias has a thing for people who have the disposition of a king, like, oh you know, the King of Knights. :D

On Arturia's part, his general aura would initially drive her to stay away, due to certain similarities with another king. Slowly, however, she'd learn he's different.

Ozymandias has...a certain wistful aura about him, and unlike the other Servants who usually hang around her post-Rayshift, Ozymandias just...disappears.

She thought herself to be rather reserved, but she then realizes she never sees the pharaoh with the other Servants, and only rarely with Nitocris. At least she has her Table and the company of her former Grail War enemies. In comparison, she and even Gilgamesh are more social.

Then, one day, he's finally coaxed out of his hole due to Master's efforts (interlude 1), and Arturia's curious enough to ask him about it.

Delighted to have a new audience, and a kingly one, no less, he retells the poems about his wife that he's only graced Master and Nitocris with.

"HM! That you have listened to my wondrous tale of my queen for these plentiful hours intrigues me, King of Knights. While I am cognizant of my own talent, that your attention hasn't lapsed once is commendable in itself."

Arturia doesn't even realize that so much time has passed, she just found herself so lost in how much love this Egyptian King had for his wife. She laments two things: that she doesn't know if she can say the same of Guinevere, and that she knows no one is ever going to say such wonderful things of herself.

I will again be bringing up that Arturia's a competitive, sore loser, and Ozy has an ego bigger than Jupiter, and I love that dynamic. While that sounds like another ship, there is a difference:

Despite his massive ego, Ozy is far more generous with his appreciation and hasn't too sharp a tongue. What that means is, Arturia is going to be persistently annoyed by his hubris, and yet also commended on her best qualities.

She can definitely learn from him to be prouder of her achievements, even if that lesson must be frequently beaten into her head by hearing "Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!" over and over.

Their tangle with equality. Ozy does see himself as above everyone else as the pharoah, the god king, but in his eyes, everyone else is equal in service to him. This is why Arturia's Round Table intrigues him so much, because it applies the same principle. A circular table, so none sits at a position inferior or superior to the other, not even the king. While he certainly wouldn't equate himself to his people, that she can do so and still be revered by her followers is astounding to him.

Ozymandias has a thing for eyes. It's rather subtle but it's there, based on his dialogue and interlude. I wonder what he'd see, faced with her brilliant, haunting emeralds.

The MODERN AU POTENTIAL OH MY GOD CAN YOU JUST IMAGINE?

We have Ozy, a brilliant loner architect who lost the love of his life and company heiress Arturia, a recent divorcee who needs to build a new house for herself after moving out of the place she used to share with her partner. She remembers the Egyptian from the construction of one of her most successful branches, and hires his talent to help her.

He has to talk to her to understand her concept for the new place, finding out things he didn't know about the rather serious president. She's a foodie, she cares not for extravagance, and she's easily riled up by teasing. Slowly, he begins to find comfort in her presence, even when he knows all their meetings are professional.

She is forced to remove herself from overwork to spend time with him, and at first, she can't understand how anyone could stand being around someone so boastful. But, he proves his skill time and time again, delivering exactly what she was envisioning. In listening to his stories during coffee breaks, she gets charmed by his life and wishes her marriage could have been as happy as his was. :">

When the constructions end, they...well I'll leave that to your imagination hehe

Is there an unpopular opinion you have about your ship?

I know that Ozy and Nefertari are the main ship for this guy or actually, it might be Gil lol and I love their relationship as well and ship them to the heavens, it's so wholesome, but I don't think that he was married in life should be a barrier for shipping. Even if Ozy's love is particularly highlighted compared to the others. A lot of Servants had past loves and a lot lived whole lives, that doesn't stop them from possibly finding new connections. all ships are valid wheeee

The following is the answer I posted to Quora, that was flagged with ‘answer may need improvement’, which means some asshole was trawling the answers to the question posted and didn’t like mine so they had the moderators hide it because said person doesn’t like differing opinions. This post is thereby an archive, so if my answer is never again allowed to see the light of day on Quora, at least my maths is visible elsewhere.

Does 2.2 million f*cking views on a woobie Draco edit seem like he’s underrated to you? Any character that gets 2.2 million views on an edit that interprets the character in a sympathetic, caring light…. Jesus Christ. They’re not underrated.

You could make a clear argument for them being overrated, by matter of fact!

The first result is his entire life story, and a redemption of the Malfoy family as a whole, and it’s… super popular!

look at that! 70k likes versus 1.7k dislikes. Let’s use my favourite maths thing once again: Ratios!!

(I hate ratios. The things I do to prove a point, eh?)

This video has 5201431 million views. It has around 70k likes, 1.1k dislikes. We’ll round 5201431, as 70k and 1.1k are both rounded numbers and I can’t be bothered to deal with numbers that are too complicated right now, it’s nearly nine pm. 5201431 -> 5.2 million. It’s the rounded number YouTube itself uses on the search page - check the first image if you don’t believe me, and since YouTube thinks that’s good enough, so will we.

5200000 : 70000 : 1100

52000 : 700 : 11

Divide all by 11 (and round awkward numbers, because we’re already dealing in rounded numbers anyway, which is kind of bad practice, but it’ll do for this context):

As I’ve proven before (not on Quora, you can probably find it in the comments of one of my fanfictions, I’ll end up moving it over here one day when I find the right question), fandom content engagement rates are always pretty bad. But honestly? every four thousand or so views, you get 64 likes, compared to just one dislike. That’s great! That’s incredible! I’d kill for those kinds of ratings!!

Okay. Deep breaths. It’s been a few months, this answer was flagged with the wonderfully opaque ‘this answer may need improvement’, and I’m back to refine this. This is the number of tags when ‘Draco Malfoy’ is added to the ‘included characters’ filter.

So, in terms of ‘fandom work presence’ (AO3 is mostly fanfic, but it is not all fanfic, there are a few vids and some art on there, too) Malfoy’s ratio is thus:

So, rounding up, for every four works on AO3, there is one that includes Draco dearie. Good lord, he’s pervasive, isn’t he? Can’t turn a corner in the fandom without seeing his pasty ferret face plastered all over the walls… lovely.

Now, once again - that wasn’t the best ratio. I didn’t remove bashing, for example, so not all those works will be positive (as in, since you think he’s underrated, that means - I assume - you think people don’t like him enough) so let’s go the long mile:

I will find a ratio for Mr Malfoy Jr’s fans, versus his haters, in terms of - how many fics bash Malfoy, and how many greatly enjoy his existence?

Add the bashing tag, and now let’s see how many fics there are with a) Draco in it, and b) Draco Bashing:

I suppose you wouldn’t want people who write him OOC, though, because that’s not rating him properly, is it? Should we add OOC to the bashing, to get people who don’t appreciate his… many positive character traits… to the extent that you would like?

Now, there’s no tag for ‘OOC Draco Malfoy’, because that would make my life too easy. And, I’m not going through 151 works to figure out which ones have Draco being the one OOC. If they’ve written one person OOC, and they’re self-aware enough to tag it, then I’m going to meanly assume they’ve written Draco OOC as well. When one person’s out of whack, I’ve found everyone else is, too, so I’m not just doing this to be a dick, I promise, it’s for a real, good, understandable reason, one that is not only because I really don’t want to have to do any maths more complicated than basic ratios.

So. 151 OOC works, 17 bashing works. 168 works of not properly appreciated Draco Malfoy, coming up, which takes our 65469 Draco works down to… 65301.

Well, that’s a lot, still.

So, there’s still some tags to remove, like Evil, and Abusive, and all that lark. I’ll go do that quickly, and come back with the maths.

A character is only as good as their complexities run deep.

That is unfathomably good. I’m really, genuinely having a hard time picturing it. I really, honestly, don’t think there’s been a character as unquestionably overrated as Draco Malfoy in all of fandom, because, good lord, look at that ratio! People love the guy!

Now, to be fair, most people don’t bother tagging any of this sort of thing, usually, so that’s a minor flaw in my ratio-ing. People seem to mostly believe him to be quite good, actually! Certainly enough to write about him a lot, to draw him a lot, to edit him a lot, to theorise about him a lot, to ship him with the main character so much that the 99th filter ever on AO3 was Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter.

Ooh, I’ve found a fun trick

To change which rss feed you’re looking at, copy the https:// link up to .atom in the speech marks, and change the highlighted number. That shows you what uses that tag_ids: - in this case, 93 is Draco himself. The 93rd tag, dedicated to Draco Malfoy. Good lord, that’s insane! I guess there really weren’t many other things to prioritize at the time, but that’s still silly to me.

Fluff and Angst appears to be the fiftieth tag canonised, for comparison. Sometimes when you replace the rss feed’s ‘tag’ in the address bar it takes you to the tag’s page instead of the feed, because that tag doesn’t have an rss feed. The more you know!

Anyway, back on track: I think all of that, rss feeds, youtube analytics, fandom presence, all kind of proves my point:

Draco Malfoy is not underrated. He is, arguably, overrated as a character, but unarguably very popular within the greater Harry Potter fandom. Unpopular characters don’t tend to get paired with the lead, at the very least - and you can’t turn around in the Harry Potter fandom without seeing Drarry somewhere, can you?

there are so many tag things waiting for me and I’m procrastinating everything but this looks fun so here we go!

1.       How many wips do you have going on right now?

Uhhhh.....in terms of active wips I have two! As Dreams Collide and Like Dragons of Old. Though Dreams is more active than Dragons, right now, because dammit I have to finish something once. Both are the first in a trilogy, but Dragons is probably going to escalate very badly and be 400k long. I hope Dreams stays under 200k XD 

Counting on-hold WIPs all in all I have ... 9? I bet none of them will stay standalones, so ... far too many. :’D Whyyyy can’t I do short things.

2.       Loud clicky keyboards or quiet keyboards?

Hmm I started typing “quiet keyboard” but then realized that mine clicks pretty loudly so I guess.... I like keyboard sounds? XD 

3.       Who was your first OC?

That is a very good question. I don’t really remember? I’ve never written fanfic so all characters in all my stories were original (well, sort of, some were very similar to characters from my latest fave book.... xD) I told myself stories long before I could write... I think it might have been a tiger xDDD 

I think my “first proper” OC is Ilien, who’s been ghosting through my stories for a pretty long time now. He’s now one of the main characters in Firewings, an immortal, 500-year-old sort-of-mercenary who is known by others as “fog rider” (It sounds better in German...) and most people think he’s a myth. He wears only white and runs around at night killing poeple-eating monsters and saving those stupid enough to be caught by them. Firewings sort of grew around him and his accidentally-adopted-daughter :D

4.       Are there any common themes that come up in a lot of wips or characters?

I really, really love hope punk since its creation last year! I think the theme in that would be ... weaponized kindness and compassion and hope? xD

Grey morality is 100% my thing

I usually have some sort of dragon in any given story, does that count as a theme?

Also, really mean, creative magic systems and the cost of power

Uhhh not really xD I’ve always loved fantasy stories and my stories are still mostly fantasy xD

Hmm I think it’s definitely protagonists xD I usually start developing them far earlier, too, and then the antagonists sort of come after xD

7.       Do you have a line you’ve written that you really like? Post it if you do!

I can’t think of one right now, probably because the only thing I’ve written during this past month has been an “Overly Detailed Outline” of As Dreams Collide. XD

8.       When you’re coming up with a new wip, where do you usually find inspiration?

There are so many ways! Usually it starts with a character, or a place, or a concept, and then it grows around that. Or “what if”s! I also really like pinterest for character/place/mood inspiration :3 I’ve found that my most creative ideas usually come from non-fiction talks, novels, or documentaries (or travelling). Especially when these things are about something connected to nature :3 

As Dreams Collide started with a certain “mood” and an image I had in my head back in 12th grade, which I then wrote down, made a short story out of, and then it turned into a novel during NaNoWriMo 2014. It’s something completely different now and even that original mood and image are gone, but it’s grown with its characters and the world and I really like where it’s going. The original idea was quite similar to a lot of other things, which was fine... but it’s much more original now, and I really, really like that :3 Also it’s much more me than that original idea would’ve been xD 

Like Dragons of Old started with the idea of a half-feral kid being raised among towering stacks of books in a library, with stories being a very important theme. (I got that idea from listening to a talk by Neil Gaiman about the importance of stories and, specifically, libraries). Then another kid emerged, who’d been born in the library, and LDOO evolved into a story of two children who loved each other more than anything else in the world, but would grow up to make a single different choice under the very same circumstances which would set them on drastically diverging paths, and who would end up as terrible enemies one day, while still loving each other. 

I realized quite quickly that it would have to be a trilogy, and I also really liked the idea that they’d start out as kids and grow up in the first one, be apart from one another in the second, and be around 40 or 50 years old during the last book, when everything had escalated to its worst point and they would meet again on opposing sides. 

Timbre and Selandri slowly turned into people, and the world(s) they would live in mostly emerged from inspirational photos and art that I found on pinterest :D

The magic system and gods came from a long brainstorming session, with me deciding in the beginning that it would be sound/music magic and tree gods, and then trying to figure out how to make that into a cool thing.

Onii, the phoenix who chooses to look like a chicken, happened because I really wanting a chicken in the story, but one who wouldn’t die from old age during it, and then she was suddenly a POV character x). 

It’s grown out of a bunch of random ideas and images that have next to nothing in common which I really loved, and it’s now my fave WIP ever. I have all of those random mini-ideas and concepts written on small pieces of paper, and all of them are stuck together so I don’t loose them in the chaos XD

Usually my best ideas are things that have nothing in common, get put in a big pot, stirred thoroughly, and are somehow “cooked” into a coherent story x)

I have a desk and there I sit and type XD Bonus points if I can listen to film/game scores, or instrumental music. Extra bonus points when there’s a thunderstorm outside and I don’t have to leave the whole day and can just write. :’)

1000 years by your art

Viola aka @pitypagn aka @faheej is a 16 year old SHINee lover, currently living and studying in Budapest. Being a prolific and extremely talented young artist, she has something  yet to draw and say about her ultimate K-pop favourite - 5HINee.

Tell us, please, about SHINee Fanzine project. How did the idea emerge? Who are the participants? How is the process organized? ^▽^

The fanzine started with a tweet by my friend Gib (Twitter @cat__boy ). He wanted to participate in a SHINee themed zine but there wasn’t any around, so he thought of creating one. (By the way, it would be really nice if more zines and artist collabs were organised in the fandom! We haven’t seen many collaboration zines, mostly individual artists’ artbook and older theme collabs by korean shawols that hasnt happened in a while.) I messaged Gib that i would support the idea and so did his friend Flo (Twitter @omjkt_), and we became an admin team of three. For our theme, we went with something I had in my mind since April; a project that celebrates SHINee’s 10th anniversary by making a collection of fanarts themed around their songs. The name ‘10 years by your side’ is also referring to their song '1000年、ずっとそばにいて・・・’ (1000 Years Always By Your Side). 

Gib and Flo organised the technical aspects like choosing a printing shop, looking up printing requirements, shipping options, setting up a Tumblr page with all the necessary information, asking a friend to translate to korean and making the actual application form. It’s a big work and involves a lot of discussion, so I’m glad we could work it out; three is a good number for organising a zine, especially for first-timers like us as we can discuss and ask each other things effectively, split up work, point out things that the others forgot and such.

About the participants; we decided to invite some artists and open applications as well. We came up with a list of about 20 people — mostly SHINee fanartists known in the fandom — who we would like to work with and simply invited them through Twitter. It was a really rewarding part of the organisation process as it got me to talk to some of my mutuals i really look up to but we haven’t talked because of language barriers; someone whose art I really adore actually told me I made their day with the invitation and I found out we’re birthday twins with another artist! Also, good language exercise, hehe. While inviting artists, we also promoted our application page, where we received over 120 replies (which is incredible) and ended up choosing 15 artists from them, making our number 36 with admins.

To distribute the songs, we made a document of the list of songs we wanted to include in the zine (so they make a coherent timeline of SHINee’s music and visual concepts through the years) and sent it to artists so they can sign up to the song(s) they would like to draw, or add others that they had in mind. Currently, everyone is working on their pieces and us admins are in the making of the design of the printed zine. We also have a chat with all artists to get to know each other and share work in progress pictures.

For what’s still to be done; after all the designs and artworks are edited into one, we will start printing and selling towards the end of the year. Until then, we will update our social media (@shineefanzine on Twitter and Tumblr) on how things are going and possibly previews of the artworks!

It seems like you are doodling all the time, cause you often publish works done in notebooks, on working sheets of paper. It creates a unique atmosphere of understatement, so what does it say about you, in your opinion? 6v6

Haha that’s actually not correct! It’s true though that my sketchbook is a checked spiral notebook (that’s probably 10+ years old), so I understand why it seems so! I kind of wish I could draw more in school but it’s simply not the best place for me as I’m occupied with other things, and I like to make more focused drawings lately. Which is also why I haven’t really used that sketchbook (and updated my Instagram where I put traditional sketches) in the latest months. I might get back to it again, as I need to make some studies and I can’t continue my summer break drawing work ethic with finished digital pieces almost every day.

Understatement is a really nice way to put it though, I’m glad it seems so! There are multiple reasons for my sketchbook, one is that I feel too pressured having to draw something nice if it’s on some expensive special paper. Also, it’s easier for me to sense depth, proportions and sizes (aka how close i am to the paper) if it has patterns on it, although when the print ink is too strong, it’s not very good for drawing. The notebook I have has a good paper and lightly printed so it’s nice to draw on. This is the technical part, and what I think this says about me…simplicity? Since I started doing digital, traditional art became secondary for me and that’s great in the quality that it provides me more freedom in it, in some way. That it doesn’t matter if I draw something badly in traditional as it’s not as important to me. This is more of an image I would like if people saw when they looked at my Instagram, that it’s carefree, not looking for perfectionism but has its own beauty in sketchiness and stationary tools. Also that the first and most important thing you need for art is, well, doing art, not professional art supplies.

Be it a pencil sketch, or a digital masterpiece, your artworks are professionally done. Do you have plans to follow an artist’s career?  ㅍ_ㅍ

Thank you so much!! I do! Since a little less than a year ago, I decided I don’t want to study anything I’m being taught (mistake of going to a school known for its math) and it would be much nicer to occupy and surround myself with art and artsy people. I am planning to start taking art courses later this year or next year, learn to make a portfolio and look up some art colleges. At this point, I would be the happiest to be an illustrator but animating sounds good too, I will have to see yet where I will go!

What role does fashion play in your life? Do you use it as a tool, an artist’s medium? `ㅂ´

I’m probably not fashionable enough to say that, haha. Or rather I’m not satisfied with my own fashion because I don’t have the wardrobe I would like to have, my own personal issues getting in my way. It interests me though, and I do have the nagging feeling to do better, the room to improve, the inspiration. I like simplicity, gray and dull colors, oversized clothes, simple and clean designs that are great in their quietness. I would like to be like that.

Fashion in my drawings is a bit of a different topic I know, but I would like to mention since even though I’m usually preoccupied with people in my drawings, it can be really meditative and nice sometimes to sit down and compose an outfit and fiddle with details. Also high fashion, it can be quite an inspiration for me.

What thing, or maybe person, impressed you most of all recently? ㅎㅅㅎ

Eastern Europe. It has an exciting aesthetic that isn’t celebrated enough, at least from what I could see. I really love the folk wear, and it feels like home. I would like to make illustrations based around it as well as my own country’s historical fashion, it’s beautiful. The other side is the ~dark~ post socialist aesthetic, big blocks of panel houses made of concrete that don’t age well. It has a grim and heavy feeling but it’s also something uniquely here. I don’t know, maybe only the grim feeling might appear in my art style, maybe I will abandon it for lighter aesthetics but it’s interesting nevertheless.

Bookbinders’ GTKY - Answers

Name:  Jayne When did you become interesting in book craft?  It was probably 2013. What drew you to it?  Honestly, to begin with, it was boredom.  A few months earlier, I’d left the nursing degree that was my last ditch attempt to make a 10+ year career in healthcare play nice with my Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.  So I was unemployed, pretty ill, and had zero idea what I was going to do next.  At some point during this sad little vignette, I was messing about online, & found myself watching a video tutorial on making coptic-bound books.  It was really just something to keep me busy.  I had no idea it would develop as it has, and I’m not sure I can explain what kept drawing me to it after that.   it’s just...  awesome.   ^_^ Did you go to school for what you have learned, or did you come by it some other way? Explain.  I developed it as a hobby, first.  By watching videos on youtube, and looking for blog posts & tutorials online.  But in April 2014, I suddenly developed a type of Autonomic Dysfunction (POTS).  Everything was put on hold.  By the time I was well enough to think properly again, or sit upright for longer than a few minutes at a time, It was pretty obvious that working for someone else was no longer a realistic option.  So I got back into bookbinding.  It was something I could learn a little at a time, and - especially with the early stuff - I could do most of it with my feet up, whilst sat on the couch.  So I started buying instruction books, and spending hours online looking for gradually more advanced tutorials & tips.  And, as I became more able to sit upright for longer periods, I was able to practice more often.  I’ve still never been to a class! Does your ‘day job’ have to do with bookbinding or bookartz, or is it a hobby?  So I wasn’t able to work at all for a while, and since I don’t know anyone likely to employ someone with my level of illness-induced unreliability, bookbinding gradually became the only sensible option for work.  So, now, I work part-time, selling blank books & stationery from my website.  :) What area of bookbinding or bookartz interests you most?  LOL, honestly I can’t decide.  There’s still so much to explore, and I’ve the kind of mind that just loves learning!  I think, for now, I’ll probably stick to making blank books & stationery.  It gives me a lot of scope for creativity & I’ll be able to keep developing my skills for a long time.  And it’s really rewarding to end up with something beautiful, that you know will be treasured by its owner.  What is the most interesting project you have worked on recently?  I’ve a pretty fleeting loyalty to my own work, haha.. it’s easy for each new book to become my temporary fave.  But I think my most ambitious project so far was a custom-ordered guest book & gift box.  I spent hours on that one, carefully using a heated stylus to ‘draw’ nearly 150 fish onto the covers & spine in gold & silver foil.  What is something you have noticed about bookbinding and bookartz today in the contemporary world?  Whenever bookbinding is mentioned in mainstream media, it’s described as a ‘dying art’.  WUT?!?!  It’s not dying!  It’s not even as ill as I am, and I’m nowhere near death!  And even if I might get hit by a bus tomorrow, Bookbinding won’t.  There are loads of us, and it’s great!  :D   What is your favorite tool or piece of equipment?  Again, I’m not great at having favourites, hehe.. But the kit that makes the biggest difference for me is usually the stuff that mitigates my impairments in some way.  Like, my guillotine is a cheap pile of ill-aligned metal that makes me swear every time I use it, but it’s a lot easier on my joints than manually trimming the pages.  My hands are a lot happier since I got a small hand drill for stab bindings, and cutting boards with a utility knife is much easier now that I fix the ruler in place with spring clamps.  :D   ...But I’m also looking forward to wheeling out my old 1930s Singer 99k sewing machine when I move my studio to its own space in a few months.  It’s so prettyyyyy. Tell us a random interesting detail about yourself, bookbinding related or not!    I’m not the best at giving short answers.  ;) What piece of advice would you give someone who is just starting out? If you yourself are just starting out, what have you found to be the best and worst aspects?  There’s lots of information online, even some advanced binding techniques, and if you can afford books or classes, that’s great too!  But practice is always going to be crucial.  :)  Even if you’re starting out with no real equipment, practice with what you can.  You could be binding sandwich fillings into bread with candy laces, & it’ll still boost your muscle memory & your control of the techniques.  So get into it, make books.  Make mistakes, and don’t be discouraged by them.  They’re how you keep learning.  :)

I’m hoping to visit Croatia at the end of august, if everything goes according to plan/covid doesn’t once again wreck my plans. I grew up in the northwestern US, and there people joke that the seasons are “fire season, road construction, winter” and winters are regularly so much snow, windy, and -20°, so not ideal conditions for enjoying them. Have you been to Grand Canyon or any of the other national parks in the southwest? They all look so beautiful, that’s one part of the US I would definitely like to see more of.

Thank you!! I’m really excited to be a student again but I am also really glad I took some time off. I enjoy Dostoevsky! Probably not my all time favorite, but my best friend loves him so I’ve read a lot of his stuff and talk about it a lot. Also a big fan of Byron and I have a love/hate relationship with Shakespeare. My favorite poet is ee cummings, I love Cynthia Kadohata, huge Neil Gaiman fan. And many many others haha but off the top of my head let’s go with that 😅

What do you write about? And in what medium? I write a lot of poetry and I like writing non fiction, but I learned in college that I am NOT a fiction writer hahaha.

Hello, Drew! Chaos feels like the natural order of the world lately. It’s fine if you miss a day or two! I understand.

I actually never really wanted to be married myself. I figured if I did, I’d be at least 30. I wanted to get school done first. Then, after my previous relationship, I decided I wanted to be alone. Fate had different plans. I also wasn’t sure I wanted kids. Changed my mind. However one is plenty. One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone invalidates a person’s choices by saying “oh you’ll change your mind”. So even though I changed mine, I won’t be implying or outright denying that you don’t know your own mind.

My wedding was small. We eloped. It was a complicated situation with his family at the time, and we had decided to have the protection of a legal document since we were living together anyway. We picked randomly picked the day. Turned out to be Valentine’s Day. So, I, along with millions of other people, got married at a court house. In fact, someone was wearing my same dress that day! It was awkward. We have yet to have any celebration outside of that day. It was just my immediate family. However, I’ve never regretted marrying him and I still look back fondly on it. Fun fact: his parents found out we were married after we totaled their truck a few months later. Not so fun fact: that was the scariest accident I’ve been in to date. Accident wasn’t our fault and at least in this accident I had airbags. Ever been in an accident? Or in one without modern crash technology? It’s not very fun. Hurts a lot. I remember having to tell my father in law, on the side of the road, that Chase and I had actually gotten married. He was stunned but super supportive. Like I previously said, it was complicated . And I can get into it more, but there’s so much else to address right now!

We really like sitting in silence on our phones together! 😂 We are one of those annoying couples who like to do everything together. We are practically attached at the hip and the pandemic has only made it worse. He’s really interested in getting into D&D. We like playing video games together. We both love swimming. We both really want to travel. I’d love to take him to Europe. We like movies. But we both compliment our different likes and knowledge. He loves animated movies and animes and I love books. We both love art. He’s so good. He lets me do his makeup and nails from time to time. It doesn’t bother him at all. But not only that he’s really helpful at making sure I get my medicines and that I get rest when I need it. Throughout the lockdown he’d do all the running around so I wouldn’t have to go out since I’m immuno compromised. Sometimes I feel like he’s too good to me and the kid. I try to give back what I can. But honestly, he’s my best friend too.

Ahem. Enough gushing.

Other than some musicals and local symphonies, I’ve never been to any other concerts! Weird. I know! I’ve wanted to but never have. I’ve always wanted to see Imagine Dragons. Or Panic! at the Disco. There’s a few artists actually, I’d love to go see.

Croatia is BEAUTIFUL. My time in Europe was 2 weeks during July. I’m in love with it. If you go, Rijeka is wonderful. But near Rijeka is a mountain town called Fužine. It’s MAGICAL. I spent most of my time there. One of the upsides to staying in Rijeka is that it’s just a few hours away from Venice, too. Which. Was also breathtaking. I cried at the beauty of it. I have pictures of these places and I love looking at them. But they also make me a little sad. For multiple reasons. We had a layover in Munich on our way home and so we spent two days there as well. We drove up to the Neuschwanstein castle. It was amazing. But the most harrowing part of that stop was at the site of Dachau. I will never forget the heaviness of it. I had to stop halfway through. It was too much for my sensitivity. A privilege I will never forget.

I was able to visit Idaho (Rexburg) during October and December one year and I loved it. I’ve only ever been to Washington (coastal) and Oregon during the summer months. I wanted to go to school in Washington, originally. Thought I’d move up there. Now the goal is to ultimately expat. Canada, likely. We will see if that ever pans out, though.

I’ve been to the Grand Canyon once when I was 10 or 11(?). We went during December to ride the “Polar Express”. It’s a special event they run during the winter months before Christmas. We were snowed in so we stayed an extra day and took the train to the Grand Canyon. So I got to see it all snowy and clear. It’s gorgeous and I highly recommend it once. I don’t know if I would ever really go back but I might take the kid someday. I at least want her to go on the Polar Express ride. It’s cute and fun for the kids. I was a little too old to fully enjoy it, but my little sister was roughly the right age.

I’ve been to several places in Arizona. The missions, Jerome, and I’ve also been to some places in Colorado and New Mexico. I can’t recall all their names off the top of my head and it was a long time ago.

I greatly appreciate anyone who can write poetry. It is not my forte. They come out childish and awkward. So, I keep those to myself. I write anything and everything. I have several stories, but three top priority right now. One is complete but needs serious reworking and revision. I started it when I was 15. It’s a paranormal mystery with romance. The second one is a fantasy that I started with a friend when I was 14/15. It has its own world and has taken on a life of its own since then. It’s massive. And the third one is a coming of age story. It’s my most delicate one. I started it when I was 21. I have shared an excerpt on tumblr of this one. It’s my most complicated one yet. Like any artist, I’m constantly second guessing my work and lamenting my talent.

This weekend has been mostly spent recharging. I’ve been helping my mom with a project. And of course swimming. I’m a child at heart and I bought myself a mermaid tail. I’ve elevated my pool game. It’s so much fun but my body is yelling at me. I’m not as energetic as I was in my youth. You mentioned marching band? You and I really do have much in common! Not only are you a flautist, but a marching one at that?! I marched in high for two years. I loved it but I started to get burned out. And then I started horseback riding and planned to do that instead. My parents couldn’t afford to do both. And then I caught mono. Looking back, I understand why my mono knocked me out for so long (it’s linked to my autoimmune issues) but at the time every one of my friends thought I was being dramatic. It was kind of a horrible experience. So even if I had signed up for band my junior year, I would’ve had to quit. And then my senior year I signed up for this program that put me through a college program to get my EMT-B. I didn’t take band at all that year. Now I just play for myself. Ideally I’d learn every instrument.

I actually couldn’t sing very well for the longest time. Which was ironic because my mom was operatically trained. My older sister was also trained. And my little sister preferred chorus to band. I ended up teaching myself later. So now I don’t sound terrible but I’m not going to take my solo act on the road anytime soon.

If I can teach myself makeup, art, instruments, and other various things, then maybe I can also someday be brave enough to put myself out there on the internet. And if I do, I will definitely let you know! I will at least have 3 subscribers. 😂

The 5th: Reaching my $10k savings goal.

I finally saved $10k after a LONG time of trying to save. Originally my $5k goal started in April 2019. I had like $1k in savings for a while and I could because of groceries, my phone bill and cat supplies. Finally I got some savings and I’m so happy and proud of myself. Now it just has to keep going higher in order to buy a house.

That is my main goal so I’m getting there in a good pace. I’m hoping to get my family and I a big enough house so that we can all live together including my one sibling, mom and myself so that we can all be safe together. We are a pretty close-knit family that doesn’t do too well once we are living separated, so that’s why I hope to get a place for all of us to be neighbors lol

Luckily I have some people in my life to count on a bit, but I would also like to spread that love and rent out to someone in need. I’m grateful for my landlord who is a family friend of ours. She helped us a lot through out the years. She rented to me and my husband for $500 and it was a pretty ugly basement, but it’s a place nonetheless and with free wifi and washer and dryer. We were really happy. I hope to have that kind of space for a couple one of these days, or just a small family who needs cheap rent.

SOYVIRGO.COM SHOP: Shop is officially open (I MADE MY FIRST SALE!)

Well this month I went crazy uploading stuff on my shop and making graphics. I only want to sell physical products for a little and then start selling ebooks and digital products. These are a few of my items so far:

I will be adjusting everything and adding and removing stuff if I don’t make sales. I just want to see what people like and sell a lot of items that are more eco friendly and a favorite with customers. I’m not okay with selling lots of products that use fabrics that aren’t sustainable so that’s why I’m thinking of just selling a few things and then making more digital stuff eventually.

Also, yes I made my first sale thank you so much you know who you are!! It’s crazy because I didn’t know I had to do more to set up my shop which was kind of dumb of me lol. I didn’t even set up my accounts to collect the money. Very bad, but luckily my friend made a purchase so I was able to ask them to hold on for a bit until I finished the sale.

I met this goal two times in the month and I’m so shocked!! I’m so happy!

My best views ever so far was on August 23rd when I got 253 views/visits. My last one was around august 8th. Hopefully I can reach those goals every month.

Well, I made a sale on August 28th! In September I hope to make at least 4 sales. How will I do that? I will try marketing. I need to work on my products and come up with a lot of designs to sell and see which do best and which ones are good enough to promote online somewhere. Wish me luck!

Better Sleep

I want to have better sleep because sometimes, like last night, I sleep for too little, and sometimes I sleep too long! I went to sleep at 5am and woke up at 2pm and now it’s 4pm. I have too much work to do on my site to be waking up so late in the day!

YOGA or MEDITATING or SOME KIND OF MOVEMENT

I remember doing yoga back in like 2018 and my body felt amazing, I barely had back pain. Now I have a lot because I don’t have a desk to work at, I just sit on the couch in awkward positions. I also sleep uncomfortably.

So now since I’m completing other goals like financial goals, I want to work on my body now and mental health while also keeping up the financial/work goals.

Digital De-cluttering

In September I have a lot of blog posts planned because it’s my Bday month so I want to make a lot of content related to September babies. I mean my site name is I’m a virgo in spanish, so might as well work more on content related to virgos, right?

I also want to de-clutter my emails my messages my saved content and all that.. but I feel like I won’t complete it all next month. Might have to be done in October.

  NUEST’S ALBUM THE TABLE 

I’ve been listening to this album a ton on spotify! I can’t get over it the whole album is so good. I guess the only song I would skip is Trust Me. But it’s still one of those kpop albums where I don’t really HATE even one song.

There’s almost never an album that I can listen to all the way through that’s why I don’t STAN many groups. I usually just like one or a few songs from one artist. For nuest, I enjoy most of their songs so that’s why I guess people would consider me a nuest stan and that’s why I would pay money to see them live, just like I did when I went to see bands live in my high school days.

The same goes for Red Velvet, I have a ton of their songs on my playlists and it’s not just 5 of their songs from their whole discography. It’s sometimes almost their whole albums. If you like my music taste, remember to follow me on spotify!

Nu’est The Nocturne Comeback show and Nuest Lab

So I realized I haven’t finished this show even though I mentioned it a while back. This is the final episode of this series, it ended so abruptly for me but whatever.

So I’m super obsessed with this show right now. I finally started watching it after it was getting really popular online for some reason. I thought it was popular for being a show for youngsters. Apparently it’s about coming out on top? Well I will try to explain without spilling the beans!

    It’s about a hard past and coming out on top, like the underdog winning in the end. I really like that kind of story because I believe you can get to the top by being a good person, and that’s kinda what this show is about. That’s what it looks like to me at least. Everyone really SUCKS exempt for the main lead, the evil male lead, wow they are so good at being EVIL. I will make a blog post about this show and giving my ratings because OOF there is so much.

I also like the girl that is playing a trans girl. Lee Yoo Jung plays her, and I first loved her when I saw Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Soo! You guys should watch that too. I was watching it probably before I started this series, or before I started this blog even. Anyways, yeah I loved it! I might start posting about dramas I recommend so I can rate them and suggest more for you guys. Would you all enjoy a small series like that?

When I started editing this post which was on August 8, I had more than 6k followers, more than 6 million monthly views and 500k engagement. Now it’s finally September and I reached a whole million more than the beginning of the month. I only hope to reach my goals of getting 10m by september!

I barely get 200 views now but that’s a huge upgrade considering I would get 50 views daily in the beginning of last year. I’m really happy because it’s so hard to get views up so quick and I somehow did it in about a month.

I met my goal!

Last month I wanted 5k monthly views and I met that goal. I was at 4.7k and this month went up by a lot! I didn’t reach 300 daily views but hopefully we can work towards those bigger goals. I guess in the end it’s best to get comments? Or maybe shares and going viral and making sales. That might be a bigger goal now. I would love to reach more viewers who enjoy my content and find my posts helpful because that’s really why I started my site in the first place.

Some changes to my Patreon

After mulling over certain things, and doing a bit of soul-searching, I'm going to be making some significant changes to my Patreon, specificially how the rewards are done. For patrons, you won't really see anything different, other than how you get rewards. There will still be four tiers at their current levels, the pledges will still be done monthly (I am committed to monthly since I went to the "charge up front" option...I CAN'T do per creation rewards), and you will still get the appropriate rewards based on your tier. The change will mainly be on my end in an attempt to help preserve my sanity...hehe. I currently send out links to my work on the first of each month (when the pledges get processed). Some may wonder why I do it this way. Well, the simple answer is...for my own protection. I've had my work stolen before and watched it end up for sale on Russian art sites...and I've gone through the HELL involved with getting them taken down. It's not like dealing with sites in the US where stolen work can usually be removed in a matter of days. Dealing with foreign sites takes weeks...sometimes months. It is a process akin to getting your teeth pulled...it's painful. As an artist, you only need to go through that mess ONCE to know you never want to deal with it again. And so, you take precautions in the future. My work may suck...but it doesn't mean I'm not extremely protrective of it. So, sending out links to the images was a way for me to maintain some control over my work. However, I've come to the realization that this method of rewards just isn't feasible for a number of reasons I'm sure most folks don't really care about. So, I'm going to make some changes. Rewards will no longer be sent out in monthly links...they will now be posted to the appropriate tiers as I finish the images. Doing the monthly links just made me feel under pressure all the time...this past month (May) was particularly stressful because I had some personal stuff that ate up my time and put me behind on some things. I don't want to have to deal with that any more, so I'm getting rid of a source of stress. Single-shot images will be posted as I finish them, as will comics...whenever that may be. If this type of flexible output schedule costs me supporters, so be it, but it works better for me. Now, people will get to see just how sporadic I am with respect to producing artwork...hehe. Only the montly pin-up sets and the Thigh High Thursday images will be a lock for rewards each month. So, here are the updated tiers and what the rewards will be (effective as soon as I post this): Public (free) - Only SFW images will be posted for public consumption (I have no choice on that). Any images posted publicy will be half size and marked with a logo. Copper $1 - This is the repost tier. I repost a couple of images a day from the start of my Patreon and a few select images from my old paysite. It DOES NOT include new work, though I will start posting the full sized Thigh High Thursday images to this tier. Silver $3 - Includes any new single-shot images and short images sets, including the montly pin-up set. This will also include some sequential work, posted as one page, multi-panel images. Does not include comics. Gold $10 - Same as Silver, but includes full-sized panels of sequential artwork, and any comics I do. Also includes a free commission each month (must be a patron on the first of the month before this reward applies). Also includes some pre-Patreon bonus work (until it's all gone and then I'll come up with something else). Platinum $25 - Same as Gold, but includes 2 free commissions, additional images for the pin-up set, nudes and lewds for the Thigh High Thursday work, access to my Doodles/WIP folder (mainly character ideas and such), and whatever else Platinum Patrons might want to see. Patrons at this level can also get all the comics I've ever done if they want them. All images will be posted to Patreon excpet where it's not feasible (such as comics or long image sets). In those instances, I will post a preview image or two and then a link to the full set/comic. So, those are the changes. I'm hoping that with these alterations, I will take some of the stress off of myself, which will translate to a better, more productive work product from me. :) patreon.com/doc000

I Wrote a New Book, and It’s Publishing Soon!

(No, not FlynnCon, although I am definitely excited about that!)

I’m so amped to share more with you, so read on to learn about the process that’s gone into writing and creating the book—and of course, stay tuned for the big reveal: what the book is called and what it’s going to be about.

Why I Chose to Self-Publish (Again)

This book has been in the works for a while—about five years, in fact.

And like my previous books, I’ll be self-publishing it.

When I was working on my 2016 book, Will It Fly?: How to Test Your Next Business Idea So You Don’t Waste Your Time and Money, I was grappling with the decision to publish it myself or go with a traditional publisher. I’ve even had agents and publishers reaching out, ready to work with me on my next book.

I chose the self-publishing route.

Although there are a lot of pros that come with working with a traditional publisher (like a monetary advance and distribution in physical bookstores), as I was writing Will It Fly?, I learned that traditional publishing would likely mean giving up control over things like creative direction and content. Since most people end up doing most of their own marketing anyway, I made the choice to self-publish.

I may end up going traditional in the future, though, primarily because I’m very curious about experiencing the process first hand, but also I know distribution and mainstream media can be much wider. But I’ll save that for another book idea I have in mind (hehe!).

My most recent book before this one was the second edition of my memoir, Let Go, which I also self-published and funded through Kickstarter in 2018. It was the first full-color print book with a gorgeous graphic treatment that I’ve worked on with Team SPI, and I’m in awe of how it came out.

With my next book, I’m shifting from memoir and getting back to business—literally. I’ll reveal the title and topic in a moment, but this book is going to be one aimed at entrepreneurs and business owners everywhere.

Visually, it’s going to be pretty great too. While it won’t have all of the custom illustrations we did for the second edition of Let Go, it’s going to look pretty awesome on the shelf and in your hands. (Okay, the written parts should be decent too.)

So why did I choose to self-publish again?

I chose this path because even though things went pretty well for Let Go and Will It Fly?, I wanted to have one more crack at it and see if we could improve on the process. The self-publishing landscape has been rapidly changing, and while there are new challenges, we also felt like we had enough experience under our belt to make the most of the opportunity.

In particular, through our previous experiences, we developed a good idea of what our team could take on ourselves and where we could use some outside help.

On that note, I have to give huge credit and thanks to Ryan Sprenger of New Type Publishing, who is helping us out with a lot of the logistics of self-publishing this book. We didn’t have access to Ryan’s awesome expertise with my previous self-published books, so we were figuring out a lot of things as we went along, and not taking advantage of all the opportunities available to us. Ryan has helped us navigate the pitfalls of self-publishing and make sure the book reaches as many people as possible. We also had some initial guidance from another friend in the business, Kary Oberbrunner, who had some great insight about how to get the book available for pre-orders, which is not the easiest thing to do when you’re self publishing!

I’m also super thankful for the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) challenge, which gave me the motivation I needed to finish the first draft of the book. I wrote over a thousand words a day in November 2018, and finished my draft by the end of the year. NaNoWriMo gave me a ton of motivation to get the draft written, but I was also inspired by the knowledge that I was writing about something that could truly help people.

  I wrote over 30,000 words in November, with one more day to go! ? And I’m close to being done with my new book ?? I’m feeling REALLY good about what I’ve written, and although we’ve got a long way to go (more drafts, copy editing, etc), it’s been great to see this much progress in such a short period of time, especially relative to Will It Fly which took over 1.5 years. ? Okay. I may have intentionally front-loaded this blog post just so I could stall and create some anticipation. So what is this book already, Pat?

Drumroll, please . . .

My next book is called Superfans: The Easy Way to Stand Out, Grow Your Tribe, and Build a Successful Business, and it’s about how to connect with people in a way that makes them want to stick with you and your brand for life.

The Origin Story of Superfans

The concept for Superfans was born as a topic developed for a 2014 presentation at New Media Expo, which is sadly no longer around. But this presentation helped put me on the map and land the keynote at the 2015 New Media Expo in Las Vegas, (which you might remember as the one where I came out in a DeLorean). Since then, I’ve been invited to several other conferences to speak on the same topic. In fact, after Social Media Day in San Diego 2017, Jay Baer, someone who’s a big inspiration to me, met with me and said (in more or less these words), “Pat, that was an amazing presentation. That’s the kind of content that should be in a book.”

Ever since that day, I’ve been inspired to see Jay’s suggestion through to fruition.

One of my motivations behind writing Superfans was to create a how-to guide of sorts for Kevin Kelly’s “1000 True Fans” concept. If you’re not familiar, “1000 True Fans” is an essay Kelly wrote way back in 2008. His idea was this: If you can inspire just one thousand people to become true fans (which he defines as “a fan that will buy anything you produce”) and each of those true fans provided $100 profit per year on your art, your craft, your work . . . well, there’s a six-figure business right there!

But more than just supporting you financially, your true fans—your superfans—are there for you in other, non-monetary ways that will help your brand last.

It’s a masterpiece, and it’s still just as useful today as it was back then. “1000 True Fans” was vital in helping me understand how achievable real, life-changing success actually was.

Superfans is a book for anyone interested in building a brand that will last by cultivating an audience of raving fans—of true fans—who will follow them anywhere. This book is for the solo YouTuber, the blogger, the small team, the midsize startup, and even the large corporation. I wrote it to help people running brands of all sizes and types understand how to create magnificent experiences and magical moments for their people.

Building superfans is what I believe business owners should be focused on doing today, with technology changing, jobs being outsourced, and uncertainty everywhere.

Creating a core group of dedicated superfans is the best way to succeed in business and build a brand that will stand the test of time. This concept is something people are slowly coming around to, but there’s still a lot of “old school” thinking going on about what it takes to make a brand and business succeed. A lot of people out there are still really focused solely on driving traffic and conversions. And while those metrics are important in building a business and creating a revenue stream, they can’t give your brand a real foundation for longevity.

The most important thing is to build a set of superfans who can support your business and your life—and you don’t need a lot of them in order to make a big impact.

In March 2016, I wrote in a blog post about Will It Fly? that “I wanted to write a great, timeless book that would help as many people as possible. If I happened to make a bestseller list doing that, then great.”

That book happened to make the Wall Street Journal bestseller list. And if Superfans does the same, that’ll be awesome. But it’ll also be just fine if it doesn’t, as long as it does what I hope it will do for the people who read it: help them build a successful business and a lasting brand by cultivating their own legion of superfans.

Team SPI has also really enjoyed getting into the book in the editing and design process, and I’m super thrilled to get it into people’s hands.

Okay, so I haven't actually gotten to reading this comic yet-- just started like... right now. But OMG. XDDDDDD I'm loving how they're breaking the fourth wall and poking fun at stuff. My favorite scene so far is this one:

I really like the guard so far, though I have absolutely no idea if he'll ever appear again seeing as I'm still in the first chapter. ;v;

The fact that he makes fourth wall breaking remarks is what sort of sold me. If he doesn't appear again, hopefully someone else along with the main character will make better jokes that will sell me good.

QUESTION 5. Who exactly are/were the Galaxy Knights? How did they come to be, and what goals did they have? Do you think we’ll see more former or current members? Also, what are your theories about their involvement in the story given they’re in the title?

1) it's still the end fight of book 1. which i wont go into too much detail cause i dont want to spoil for those just starting up. but i still love the entire choreography of that fight. seeing mizuki solve everything in the most unconvenentional ways possible is so immensely fulfilling. 2) cahe's mustache. i cant wait till it gets fed up with cahe, rips itself off his face, and joins mizuki to fight the good fight. (but also probably electric zebra because he believes in the power of love) 3) there's too many jokes to name. theres a lot of great ones. although one of my favorite more recent ones has actually been a callback to the fact that cahe never names his village. and lo and behold his village is revealed to be unnamed village. i was slain by the joke. 4) i think eventually mizuki will discover her own thing. but at the same time i dont think thatll stop her from using others' abilities cause i think she turns what others view as a weakness into a strength. so basically mizuki will just have more ammo for her mind magic arsenal. 5) i mean the obvious answer is that they were protectors of ppl and that mizuki is gonna join them. but idk. i def think were gonna see more former and current members though given the title. and mizuki will thrash them all with the power of stealing their abilities and stubbornness. in the end, there is only one super galaxy knight deluxe and that person is mizuki. lets not ask what the r stands for.

Although I feel Mizuki might be at a disadvantage since they already lost to her. so now they know what he game is or something like that. and i dont think theyre gonna just give her the gem given the whole food fiasco and i kind of get this sense they want to test her? as for other characters, i hope we get to see our favorite immortal captain again. and electric zebra. electric zebra needs to come and sing about the power of love and all that. or at least be on tour and give mizuki a signed cd. 8) i feel hes not doing the evil, but i feel whatever the king is up to probably is dumb at least. maybe this is an elaborate prank from the wizard guy who is mad about having to put all the food back. he gave the king the wrong prophecy and now the king is trying to undoom the world. at the end mizuki will win, but winning might not matter. i think shell lose the talent competition tho. shell make it back in time but get disqualified over something trivial. like misspelling something on the contest form.

something worth pointing out about both those answers - in book 1, nobody knew what zebugu was up to except for the people in the castle (and the ancestral tree, cause of the omniscience). people like gynu and suzigu wouldn't have agreed with zebugu if they had known what he was doing. in book 2, zebugu has roped other people into his plan by giving them a gem to protect. zaxaty knew what her brother did, and so did the ancestral tree (being specifically instructed by the king to guard the gem and not tell mizuki the reason why). even taci ramino knew that the portal had been turned off, and zebugu didn't even give him a gem! so if gynu and suzigu do have a gem, what did king zebugu say to them to get them on board? and was he truthful to them, or is this all an elaborate ruse?

-Scene-wise is tough, I don't even recall what I said last time. ^_^; The fight against the king was pretty epic though. Character-wise, I like Pejiba. Just something about her I guess, helpful, first major magic user, that kind of thing.

-Like Rebel, I'm not sure about grabbing any particular comedic moments. The stuff with the tree is pretty good though. Even more recently with the 'I am a jerk but that's not the reason' sort of thing. Also, used firewood...? O.o

-I dunno, stealing the powers of others can be a power itself, see Rogue from X-Men. Plus I think Mizuki'd be worried that once she finds her own, she'll lose the ability to copy everyone else.

-The Galaxy Knights are actually a bunch of mathematicians, that's why the King's advisor is one (if memory serves). Seriously though, I like how they were just randomly brought up recently. It's kind of like they're their own story running in parallel somewhere else. (Which isn't too far off, Gynu and them were in a guest comic series elsewhere, I think.)

Actually, it's impressive the number of guest comics and literary tie-ins that exist.

-Since only, like, a week passed between Books, idk. Maybe Cahe was given bad information, or their messages were cut off. Though the whole wedding seems like a rush job because honeymoon in an all female hotel what now? I feel like they'll still have cameos.

-Hoping we'll see Zaxaty again. That blush had to mean something. (Also, back to comedy, "Get out of my house", hah.)

-The King's probably doing this as some sort of test, like to see if Mizuki can be a new governor or something. After all, he seemed okay with how she spared him. Alternatively, the Galaxy Knights wanted him to do this, so that they could test for new recruits.

-Related to that answer is the possible answer to snuffy asking about what Gynu might have been told if he has a gem. All in a day's work. (Though a photo would be amusing.)

-Sword Warrior will be useful in terms of giving Mizuki many more magic ideas to steal. (Also, since he can make his own swords, I don't think Mizuki will win that way. Maybe she can get him to zip off the edge of a building.) I think Taci just has a thing for vigilantes.

to respond to some of your things specifically - - the advisor is a statistician, which... i guess is a mathematician? usually when i think "mathematician" i think of people who write proofs for really difficult problems and not, like, nate silver. also, the wizard is a magic researcher, so he does a lot of math for his work. i guess the active galaxy knights are pretty math-y, except for that third as-of-yet-unnamed active galaxy knight that's shown up. -yeah the wedding was very much a rush job. zuzu was already a member of the family by the time cahe and pejiba were on their honeymoon. -we'll see zaxaty again sooner than you expect. and yeah, there's something there. blushes don't lie. (fun fact: the fight against zaxaty was originally going to be the first time in the comic it's implied that mizuki is into women. when drawing book 1 chapter 6, i changed my mind and worked a love triangle plot into the story. that's the main reason why mizuki never says anything to pejiba about being interested - because it's not in the script. that's also part of the reason why zaxaty's island is "lesbos 2: sappho harder". the timeline for making the comic gay got moved way up, so zaxaty had to be a bit over the top) -won't say much else here, but i like that people's impressions seem to be that zebugu's plot might be morally dubious, but maybe not exactly evil. we'll see how that pans out. -if he had the chance, taci would absolutely start dating sword warrior. he's totally into the tall, slender, vigilante crime-fighter type. (which may lead to some butting of heads down the line...)(edited)

That's very cool... both about having Zaxaty in mind so early on, and for managing to foreshadow Mizuki's interests. Also, I don't know that Zaxaty was necessarily over the top (I didn't see a harem), though she does seem to like putting her interests (frustrations?) into her artwork.

As to Zebugu's plot not being evil, it allows for a scene where Mizuki goes off on him and him having some sort of retort. Even if it is to defer to the wizard or something. (Hey, maybe the wizard wanted all magic off so that no one would know that he was on sabbatical.)

QUESTION 10. What are you most looking forward to in the comic? Also, do you have any final thoughts to share overall?

one thing i'm really looking forward to as the author is creating book 3. i think it'll answer a lot of your questions about the series, and there will be a bunch of character interactions that I know people will want to see

But can I just say, I love how crazy and silly everything has been so far? XDDD Thanks to this discussion, I found this gem and ended up sharing it with a friend of mine. And they loved the golden comedy too! (Not to mention they're favorite scene was the tree saying they were a jerk as well. O v Obbb)

And I'd also like to commend the fact that the creator has been able to power through and draw so much content (not to mention reworking those pages into new ones. OMG!) OAO!!! Time for some questions that my friend has asked that im gonna post and make you sit through cause now i have a ton more content. at some point it gets a little hectic with a ton less questions being asked and more of just ideas being thrown around. i would like to thank my lovely friend  for that cause she helped me come up with literally everything here.

what how tall are all of the characters?

I don’t have exact measurements but I do have an order of heights that my friend helped me do. I’ll show you like this

how did Virgil and Patton meet?

they met in high school. They all basically went to the same high school (not logan though)

I meant Virgil and Logan..

they met in college, well what Virgil went to of collage. He only stayed for a little while before dropping out to focus on YouTube but he still stayed in touch with logan

Who proposed to who?

Logan did. It was… Simple but sweet. He did so in private, after a nice dinner and a walk in the park at night (cliche but hey it worked). He was considerate enough to not propose in public cause he didn’t want Virgil to be pressured into saying yes by others watching him.

Who said I love you first?

Virgil. He thought logan was asleep when he said it, Logan was very much not asleep.  He said I love you back and terrified Virgil cause “shitshitshit he heard me ohmygodohmygod” now they say it at least once a day (usually before Logan goes to work or before hanging up on the phone)

What was their biggest fight?

They don’t fight very often mostly because Virgil hates confrontation and Logan would much rather talk it out and come to a compromise but it’d probably be when Virgil wanted to dropout of college. Logan didn’t quite understand why and that lead to an argument about his future and YouTube careers and such. Eventually when they managed to calm the fuck down and actually talk about the stress he was under and how unhappy Virgil was they did come to the conclusion it would be better if he did leave collage

Who asked who out?

Logan. It was quite obvious how much Virgil liked him but logan also realised that Virgil would never make the first move so logan took it upon himself to ask him on a date to an art museum

who kissed who first?

Virgil did this time! Logan had leaned in one night and then paused to make sure Virgil actually wanted to be kissed and then Virgil closed the space. So technically he kissed logan first and gets very embarrass when he brings it up “technically you kissed me Virgil” “YOU LEANED IN FIRST”

And it’s pointed out that they want children eventually, correct?Would they adopt a kid, surrogate mother, ect.?

Adopt. Logan was adopted and would very much like to help a kid like him out as well

How old? Also boy or girl?

Girl. Virgil wants a daughter. And their open to any age but probably younger than 3

Any plans for when this would occur?

In a few years at least. They still think theyre too young to take care of a child and not financially stable enough to warrant taking in a child

What would her name be

Rosie I don’t have a reason for that one I just like it

what’s Patton and Romans relationship like?

Very sweet…after a while. Romans a little hesitant at first. He knows he likes Patton. From the first time they hang out he had a small crush. But he’s scared of rushing into things again. He does go a bit faster than what he normally would since they are old friends though. After they do warm up to each other Roman very much becomes dependant on him and is very affectionate and full of love

How do Roman and Virgil interact?

At first, very awkwardly. Virgil doesn’t still have a crush on him but he does remember Roman saying he’s straight being his first heartbreak. Patton eventually drags them into hanging out enough times for them to fall into a dynamic like we see in the videos. Joking insults, playful arguments about Disney films, joking around in general. They also speak fluent meme and vine reference towards each other cause none of the others get it

“Virgil you want a drink?”

“Yeah. Yeet it”

*throws water bottle to him across the room*

So, Patton is adorable. When he gets angry, how do the others react?

Well the thing with Patton is when he gets mad it never lasts long before the frustration crumbles into sadness. So at the first sign of angry Patton they all brace themselves for the wave of emotions. They’ve learned that you have to listen to him when he’s mad, then comfort and work it out when he’s sad afterwards. He only ever gets mad when people aren’t listening to him though (not every time more like he’s trying to express a concern, or an idea and people keep ignoring him or talking over him until he snaps) that being said at first Virgil handles it the best but once Roman got closer to him he learned pretty quick

How did everyone feel meeting thomas?

Initially, confusion. Why did Roman have a child? Where was the mother? Roman is so young? But after a little bit they all loved him. Patton was the only one to love first ask questions later though. More of “oh a baby! What’s his name can I hold him” and then after a little bit he started asking the how questions. Patton was the first to meet him, then logan and Virgil together. Logan was the first one to start asking the questions everyone was thinking other than the big one (what happened to the mother)

Will Linda ever return?

I don’t have any specific plans for that to happen at the moment. But it’d be in her best interest to stay away cause now she has 4 more people ready to kick her ass at any moment. However i do think that in the future thomas would want to meet her

As Thomas grows, what will Roman tell him?

The truth. When he’s young he kind of accepts that he has two dad’s and the thought doesn’t cross his mind. Its when he gets in school he starts asking questions. Thomas don’t get it at first but if he grows up being told the same thing about his mother, eventually he’ll understand (im speaking from experience here actually. I think it was best that mom told me the truth at a young age and kept reinforcing the idea )

So who kissed who first between Patton and Roman?

Patton kissed Roman on the cheek first, which lead to roman kissing Patton on the forehead regularly. But when it does come down to it Patton pecked Roman on the lips as a kiss goodnight after a date. Which, in turn, lead to roman immediately pulling him back in for a real kiss

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it depends on your definition I guess. It’s hard (hehe) to get someone to take care of thomas and when they do they’re usually on a date, or too exhausted to do anything but get a nice nap in. but a blowjob or hand job has happened before

Honeymoon. Virgil wanted to wait until they were married to go all the way. I know it’s cliche but he was honestly just nervous about exposing himself and doing something with someone just to have them leave. He didn’t want to be so vulnerable with someone who wouldn’t stay

Roman used to have a cat but then Patton and him got more serious, they were thinking about moving in together and we’ll Patton is allergic so he gave him to emilie

Patton really wants one (or 50) but Roman is worried about getting one that might be too energetic and potentially hurting or knocking Thomas over. When thomas is older though romans open to the idea

how did Logan and Virgil meet (more specifically)

They sat beside each other one day in an astrology class, Virgil accidently drank Logan’s coffee instead of his own cause he was t i r e d and Logan was like “yknow what? Keep it.” and Virgil was like “oh no I’m sorry can I buy you a new one?” they exchanged numbers and the next morning Virgil texted him asking what kind he wanted. Eventually they alternated getting each other coffee every morning and then that evolved to hanging out after classes

When did Logan decide to propose?

Logan’s mom told him never to marry  someone if you haven’t seen them at their most vulnerable point. He saw him at one of his worst beakdowns and realised he still loved him just as much as when virgil was at his best. That’s when he just… knew(i got a small fix about the exact moment tell me if youd wanna see that)

Have they ever broken up?

(after some discussion about pets, a lot of backtracking and some discussion this is what we’ve got)

they get a hairless cat and Virgil is salty until it crawls into his jacket and starts purring. But like, simease cats (spelling is 100% wrong) actually like being dressed.  Roman and Linda were engaged. She’s old his ring to a pawn shop, for drugs probably.He proposed after he found out she was pregnant. He knew she was cheating on him but thought maybe this would make her stay: deceit finds it in a pawn shop. Anyway deceits in there for unknown reasons and he sees it and of course it’s like engraved so he /knows/ it’s romans. And Roman is just so sad. He starts crying. Remy's ready to hunt down Linda and murder her like the least she could do was leave him the damn ring. Roman wants to get rid of it but the others aren’t so sure

Maybe Patton turns it into a bracelet. That’s the thing about Patton. He wants to turn something ugly into something beautiful. Maybe when Thomas is older they give it to him. Just like with the eye thing, so they associate the bracelet/ring with him instead of linda

God speaking of the eyes can you imagine Roman talking about Linda and saying “and she had the most beautiful big brown eyes…” and  looking over at thomas as he says that.This is when he’s a tiny baby and she had just left. and Patton is just sad. Cause you know he’s telling him about it like pattons holding Thomas and its late at night and Patton just quietly asks “tell me about her? His mom?” and Roman just quietly nods and talks for an hour and Patton listening to each and every word. He starts with all the good things like her laugh and her eyes but eventually he starts telling him about the fights, the cheating, the drinking… And Patton is there for him. He stays up with him all night..And Patton hugs him. Patton gets Virgil and Logan to take Thomas the next day so he and Roman can have a day to themselves since they had a very emotional night and are tired.

Virgil doesn’t know what to do with the smol boi. Logan doesn't know either mate..

Patton wears a blue suit, Roman wears a white one. They don’t have a lot of money so they try and keep it simple and small, but Roman of course still tries to still make it special for Patton. Roman is a nervous wreck, patton's excited. All of their friends are there, patton's family too (a lot of children and family. Patton's family takes up 73% of the crowd. Romans family doesn't come (other than like picani) Patton walks down the isle, Virgil and Logan are groomsmen because Remy and deceit are not to be trusted (which they are like “yeah that’s fair” ) the wedding goes good, Thomas is probably like.. 5 or 6 at this point. Thomas is so happy. He’s just so happy for His dad’s he doesn’t know what to do. He’s bouncy and happy and giggly and eats a lot of cake. Roman is so happy. later Thomas had to ask why daddy patton has bruises all over his neck. Patton “got attacked my a bear” cause he panicked and that’s what he said. Thomas cried and threw away a stuffed bear. Patton and Roman had to do damage control.

May 2017

So its now been around two months since last post. There has been some changes, but no major changes I would say. Lets see

Work:

I helped Agatha  with her school project, a relatively quick project that went pretty smooth. I cant say I had too much of a say in it though, as she had a very clear idea about how she wanted to go through with it. We had a launch at the top of The Thief with loads of readings and performances. Fun, but also a bit exhausting. I did it for free, on a very short notice as a friend. Ive been doing that quite a lot for her. Its still mainly fun, but I am also a bit unsure about her processes sometimes. 

I also made a catalogue for Vårutstillingen that went pretty well recently, so they already hired me to do a project for them in August. Other then that I helped Trollkrem with a little floor text for their exhibition at HaIK, and I am still working with Tableau on their website. She keeps on changing stuff witch is kind of frustrating (Tove), but Im just going with the flow and helping her when she needs me. Easier that way, + we need to keep a good tone. Hopefully we are soon done!

Me and Morri are also working together on a project atm for Stavanger Kunstsenter, together with Geir Haraldseth. Its been quite nice I must say - we have a quite nice tone and inspire each other I think. We have been thinking about doing more work together in the future and I have been thinking a lot about this lately. I am thinking about doing a career change next winter, and I think if I have people like him to work with that would make a change like that quite fruitful. I am also potentially working with this other guy, Alex on a small project but we keep on extending the deadline and now he is considering moving to England, so lets see..

Basically what I need to do it to sit down properly and think though things. Step by step, and gradually make the rigght moves. It would be great to go into the summer having thought properly about this so I can spend some time to digest and take it in. I need to head full on this fall if I am going to make it work, and I need to make a proper busines plan and some savings. Ideally I need to save up money to cover my basics for about 6 months. Thats about 70.000 NOK. Can I save up 70.000 next fall?? Next week me, Harald and Saga will have a study group about a book Harald recomended. I will buy the book today. 

At Bleed Ive been working a lot with Visit Norway and a project for them regarding safety in nature. Ive been given a lot of responisibility, and its been quite fun. I went to Preiestolen for a week f.ex to Art Direct 5 movies. Now Im finalizing the project and am hoping that it will end up smooth. 

Im also the leader of Grafill Grafisk design, and would really like to make a bit more out if it. I dont think I am goving it the attention it needs atm, so I will talk more with Sara about this today. How can we make the most out of this??

Relations:

Me and Ingemar still hang out a lot as friends and that’s working out relatively fine. Hes still a bit much to handle sometimes though. Last week he started dating someone new. A 22 year old, super sweet and stunning guy from Rogaland. At first I was weirdened out by it and not quite sure how I felt. Was I jealous? Did I feel old? What was I supposed to feel? Everyone also got quite drunk and they started kissing very openly in the middle of the room, in fornt of everyone. I think my reaction was that I just got a bit numb and not sure how to focus my thoughts. I ended up sitting down with them and talking with the new guy and I really liked his personality.  I think he is good for Ingemar, and I think I can get used to seeing more of him, and also letting my friendship with ingemar more normalized. It feels kind of like he is a younger brother, or something a long those lines.

After the last time I wrote, I asked Germain what he wanted, and he was honest and straight forward about him not being in the right space to move forward with me. He got in touch agin a few weeks ago and we met. We tried to have sex, and the chemistry was gone. I think I got a bit overwhelmed by it all. It has felt like so many failures and rejections in the love-sector lately and I think it definitely put me a bit down mentally. I had a long break from both seeing and meeting up for hookups with boys, with was really good for me. A slow build up that made things more calm and made me stronger and more focused mentally. Having that said I recently had a setback. After easter holiday I sort of went all overboard and digged bit too deep into things - meaning sex. It was soooo nice to have sex, feel passion, skin and lust again after such a long break that I sort of just lost myself a bit into it again. During the past of 4 weeks Ive probably had 15 sex partners, at the most seeing 3 boys in one day. Why? And should I feel bad a bout it? A lot of it is really hot, but I often end up feeling broken in the aftermath. Like I give a little bit of myself each time, and then I loose grip on myself a bit and get this feeling of not begin in control anymore. Its like just urging for more more more more and then then more you get you get this bad tasting sauce. For instance, I met up with a two different guys the to days prior to my lat meeting with Germain. How could I possibly find more room for him from a passionate point of view after that? I could hardly even get it up.. Also, because Im on PreP Ive had more unprotected sex. This again has lead to me now having a STD (not sure which one yet), with is also extremely downgrading, as its only about a month since I tested myself the last time. I am working as a voluntair - testing people for STDs for goods sake. I should be able to have a more grounded relation to sex myself too then no? I think maybe the goal here needs to be that I can see guys for sex, but that I need to cut down on my availability again, as it gets a bit too much into my head. Once every now and then is OK, but not more then once per week. You can do that. Other boys.. Ive met a few great guys here and there, but I am not in a place where I am ready to chase any one right now. Why can’t someone chase me for a change? Lets see what time brings. Vegard and Sigbjørn has a very cute friend called Ole. He added me on both instagram and Facebook so maybe thats good for something. Max is also in town now for a few weeks. Maybe Ill send him a text and checks out if he wants to meet up for a bottle of wine some day next week. Caution though: Max really got to my feelings the last time. Better safe then sorry?

Roger texted me yesterday, like he usually does every 3 - 4 months. Sweet messages. Hes thinking about looking for a new job. Exciting and scary for him I guess. Im missing his lust for me a bit still. 

Friends

I have been hanging out a lot with some new friends of mine quite a lot lately - Vegard and Sigbjørn (a couple). We have met almost every week, and have been on holiday trips together as well as going out quite a lot - also togehter rwith Ingemar actually. Sort of a new unit. Its been really nice to bring in some new perspectives and positive people in my life. I feel I can be 100% myself, and talk about the good and the bad, and they generally make me feel very secure and rooted. We are also heading to Tel Aviv this summer - looking forward.

Life

Someone read my tarrot card last week. It said I had 3 previous love interests that all were differetn and very important for my past developemnt. Duh: Roger, Antti and Tim. It also said that I was in a good place professionally, that I was a good leader, a high performer and ambitioius. For the future it said I would go though a huge change thatwould be really challenging and make me see life in a different way. I could expereince health issues, so I should look after myself. Im thinking this change might be 2018. Lets make the change as proactive and challenging in the rigth ways so I can land safely on the other side...

Other:

Im going for a weeding to Deepti my first girlfriend this week in Kristinasand. Indina/Norwegain wedding with loads of lovely old friends. I actulaly think it will be really nice

The week after Im heading to Lisboa for a weeked to viit a guy I met in Kirgizistan last summer. He is tiny, has a big dick, and a scooter. lol.. I think it will be a fun weekend. 

Im going to Tel Aviv this summer with Benni, Vik, Kris, Vegard and Sigbjørn. Were watching Britney.. hehe. wil be fun. 10 days in a huge appartment. After that Im heading to Kenya to hang with Carmen. Were doing safari, beach and some mountain hiking. Ending it all off in Berlin. Probably broke as hell...
