Lavender Brown: Nice and caring, and gives Ron the affection he deserves. Also does countless brave acts, helps to round up Skrewts, and fights in the DA despite the danger.

Fandom: She should go, she is ruining our ships!1!1!1! (Side note: I do ship Romione, but this anti-Lavender bullshit should stop.)

Cho Chang: Cares about and loves her boyfriend, and simply wants to know how he died because she loves him. Also offers to take Harry to the Ravenclaw common room, and fights in the DA.

So a very large part of the fandom can't forgive Cho for siding with her most faithful friend, Percy for wanting to run away to a place where he could get credit for his determination after he didn't get it from his family, and Lavender for being just plain miserable in love BUT they forgave Draco and James for being just pampered bullies because they "changed"? people can say whatever but you can in no way say that draco malfoy and james potter are in any way similar other than that they’re both pureblood and rich. 

the argument given is that they were both bullies but no??? they weren’t???

the whole james/snape thing was mutual conflict, because both parties actively participated in it (ootp, lupin says that snape often sought james out for arguments) and bullying is one-sided, and it if repeatedly pointed out that james was a great person. 

(hagrid calls him one of the best wizards he’s ever known, james was made head boy, he died for his son and voldemort says that he put up a great fight, he became an animagus for his friend, he took in his friend that was abused)

while malfoy on the other hand had no hobbies other than being a menace to society, literally going around and trying to get a rise out of harry just because he wanted to (and harry never returned this behaviour). this is bullying - because only one party actively does so.

he wasn’t forced into being a death eater (contrary to popular belief) - his parents loved him. he was made a death eater to punish his father because voldemort knew how much his parents loved him - and draco loved the opportunity, he was genuinely excited.

so, what merits the comparison?

Man! I can swear that if these toxic Harry Potter fans were old enough to read A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) they would totally worship Joffrey Baratheon :D

Imagine being a young girl, reading a fantasy book and then you're introduced to a bad boy who has blonde hair and grey eyes. So you're likely to portray him like this on your mind:

Yeah, he is a bully, just like all dreamy Wattpad boys. So he is totally a boyfriend material for the main girl of the story. Like, if Wattpad has Vini Uehara, Harry Potter fandom has Draco Malfoy!

Yeah yeah, the boy might be racist and constantly despising people for their blood status, and yeah, he might be insulting and abusing them as well, and also proudly follows a racist terrorist who is trying to commit genocide…

But it's all because Draco's dad was bad :(

Being the Leonardo DiCaprio of Harry Potter universe is Draco's redeeming quality. That's why he deserved Hermione more than Ron or anyone else😌
