WIP of my SECOND favorite rarepair from Stardew. As an opposites-attract fan, it's no surprise that I sometimes swoon for these two!
Back when I wrote "Slim to None", I had to make a brand new tag for Elliot/Maru on AO3, because they are even rarer than Penny and Seb, and I think for more reasons than the obvious ones.
It's clear they aren't alike. Left brain vs. right brain. Logical vs. Creative Scientific vs. Artistic. Straightforward vs. Poetical. You get the idea.
But the more I think about these two, the more interesting their dynamic becomes.
Because I strongly believe that people like Elliot, who are extremely expressive and artistic, tend to be easily burdened by their own deep feelings - especially when they don't know how to show these feelings to someone they profoundly care about, because they want it to be conveyed perfectly and beautifully.
While people like Maru who are more pragmatic, logical and practical, may not be very receptive of romantic expression initially - especially the elaborate and flowery kind of affection that Elliot would probably try to offer her.
But I imagine what's going through Maru's mind is 'He's just doing it to be nice.' Basically trying not to fall harder for him than she already has, because she's already done the premature damage control in her brain, rejecting herself on behalf of him, so not to get hurt.
Because allowing yourself to fall in love is scary, right? Especially in the case where it turns out the one you feel deeply for, feels nothing for you in return.
So, Maru tried to resign herself, chipping away her own fondness for him (Which only sort of worked when he wasn’t around). Love had zero applicable positive in her life. Her unearthed feelings had the potential to seriously encumber the way she's systematically ordered her life, and that is a serious problem for someone like her.
Plus, Elliot would never go for someone like me, right? She convinces herself, What gorgeous, sophisticated man in their right mind would pick the scrappy girl with machine grease spatters on her face and arms, when he could have anyone he wanted?
Little does she know (because she refuses to believe it herself), the more Elliot spends time with her, the less capable he is of stopping himself from thinking about her. His mind was consumed. Countless hours lying in bed, staring at the ceiling wondering how she was doing. If she had any interest at all in the book he was writing, or if she would find it boring and dull... What it would take to get her to not avert her eyes when she glanced his way.
"I just like her..." He whispered plainly to himself, somewhat humiliated that he couldn't formulate a better way to say it.
Not that he didn't try.
All the articulations he mustered to piece together, it seemed as if all the poetry and literature the world had to offer would fall short, unable to capture the weight that rested squarely on his heart when his mind simply drifted to her – as it so often did now. His words are far too inadequate to covey his insurmountable feelings.
This is displayed in his canon ten heart event. For a man who is usually suave and elloquant with his speech, Elliot fumbles over what he's tries to say; "Um... [Player]... How do I say this?" "N-no! I'm not saying I want to cut all ties with you!" "... Let's see, how do I put this...?"
Never had he been at such a loss for words as he was during Maru's 8 heart event. Standing in front of Maru. Alone with her in her room. Letting her carefully apply burn cream to his hand after her project demonstration didn’t exactly go as planned.
“That kind of ruined the moment, huh?” She sighed with glistening eyes and flush cheeks, clearly very disappointed in herself.
He’d said hardly anything since he’d even arrived. What could he say? He knows nothing of this stuff… Regardless, now was the time. It had to be! Even if he didn’t exactly know how he was going to say it, he couldn’t conceal his appreciation for her any longer.
Instead of gracelessly blurting out his feelings, he chokes his inadequate words down, stepping forward, aching to simply hold Maru in a perfect moment. Longing for her to carry his bursting heart in her palm. To inspect and refurbish his yearning spirit as she would a malfunctioning gadget or broken machine.
"You, uh," Maru tenses, blushing deeply as he does so, taking a small step back, "You don't have to do that." She chuckles awkwardly, knowing he couldn't possibly...
His heart palpitated wildly as he pulled away, unable to keep himself from feeling hurt and embarrassed by her unexpected rejection, "Maru...?"
"I know gadgets aren't really your kind of thing.." Maru's voice trembled as she looked away, "And I do appreciate that you're showing interest in what I do... but you don't have to overdo it. I mean, thank you for humoring me, but, especially after that… You've already done enough...."
All his hope and desire clattered to the ground. Practically drowning in his own confusion and humiliation, a small moment passed as Elliot's mind began to spin with all the details that lead up to this moment. All the looks Elliot caught her sneaking his way, the way she grew bashful when talking to him about herself, how he could have sworn she was about to ask him to dance with her at the flower festival this year, but never did. The way even just now, how blithely she invited him in to her room to show him what she’d been working on.
After all that?
Determined not to let it end here, Elliot gingerly took either side of Maru’s face, prompting her to look deeply and directly into his eyes. A single word fell from his lips...
"No." Elliot hushed, pupils dancing back and forth between hers.
Maru's brow crinkled.
He repeated himself, "No. I have not done enough." With a light shake of his head and a breezy chuckle, "In fact, I've hardly done anything for you at all."
She again averted her eyes, "Elliot, y-"
Cutting her off, Elliot insistently pulled her face back, tilting his head to meet her eyes again, firm and intentional. The words that he had were simple, yet inspired, "No, Maru... Not enough."
Elliot's soft expression and lowered voice was enough to make Maru's eyes mist. He seemed so genuine; she couldn't find any way around the cold hard fact that faced her in this moment. There was no answer key or user's manual for this kind of thing, there were too many variabls in the equations. But right now with her face cradled in his palms, Maru couldn't calculate (or re-calculate) this moment to equal anything less than the total of what it all added up to;
Elliot adored her.
A smile bloomed on Elliot's face, repeating himself yet again, “No… Not enough.” wrapping his arms around her once more, "Not even close."
Tumblr media
OR Maybe it's not that deep and I just think they'd be cute together :) Thanks for reading my headcanon ramblings.
Side note: it's supposed to be a heart floating off of Elliot in the doodle of them kissing, but instead it looks like someone threw a pretzel at him and it bounced off his jacket 🥨😂

i the headcANON am greately pleased by your last correspondence with the council, as such like a magpie we are leaving shiny trinkets within your inbox, but nay these are not pennies or stolen rings, they are things we completely and totally made up! todays galavant into the realm of our collective soup of a mind is the one and only blorbo, our poor little meow meow, our Beko LSP3671DW Tall Fridge - White, our soggiest webkinz whom we like throw against the wall to hear the sound of its milk-drenched body 'thwap' against the wall... gradient <3
for some ungodly reason this little shit means the world to me, i have had such a dedicated connection to this asshole since about 2016 thats its boderline religious at this point, oh also have whilst we're at it, i'll throw in some general gracey headcanons too
really lives video games, probably because its what he spends almost all of his time doing, id imagine his favourite games would be somewhat grounded life-sims (games like stardew valley or minecraft), if you are a monster who knows literal gods and has technology which can teleport you at the tips of your fingers, the fantasy and sci-fi genre probably doesnt appeal to you all that much, its just everyday life
however, he also canonically likes shooters, and imo his favourite is splatoon because funny little squid people
loves anime and manga, probably really likes chainsaw man, neon genesis evangelion, and serial experiments lain
watched nge for the first time, saw rei and fell to his knees screaming she me, shes literally me
has slowly been getting casey into anime and manga, originally didnt want to because thats 'weeb shit innit?' but he watched chainsaw man and fell in love
so under a rock its not even funny, he doesnt know anyone outside of his family or some of the high-ranking council members. paperjam will off-handedly mention a popular celebrity in the omega timeline and he will have absolutely zero clue who that is. he probably knows more about human celebrities from earth, mainly footabllers - casey's doing obviously
has a neutral accent, by that i mean, he does not sound as though he is from anywhere, his voice is flat and montone (a combination of living in the middle of nowhere and autism lol) with no vocal fry or twang to speak of, however since living with casey he has begun picking up british slang and an ever so slight brummie accent
i dont know why but i get the impression his room isnt actually all that big, longer than it is wider, ink wouldve given him a bigger room but he asked for a smaller one because wide spaces make him anxious
gender? i hardly know her. refuses to elaborate on what his gender is, just tells a joke every time hes asked. additionally, i dont think he cares what pronouns people use for him. hes whatever gender makes the bit the funniest. when casey asked, he replied whatever gender liking me makes you gay as hell
when casey told him about how he pieced together his laptop from scrapped and stolen parts he became fascinated with it and began helping him upgrade it. now they own a pc which is top of the range but looks like the aftermath of a shrapnel bomb, gradient considers it his pride and joy
has errors lack of taste and willingness to eat anything, combined with inks general lack of taste and culinary knowledge. bro is eating packet noodles and chicken nuggets every day. casey once tried to cook breakfast, he made scrambled eggs but completely charred the eggs and he ate it anyways because it was a nice gesture. i think he can actually cook quite well though, he just cant be arsed too and the microwave is so much less effort
simultaneously think he has a really high tolerance for alcohol, if not just completely unaffected by him, or he has zero tolerance whatsoever
really interested in humans and their biology and anatomy. likes to go up to casey and squeeze his nose or poke his cheeks. has once, when watching a movie with him, spent about ten minutes just playing with his arm and wrist just watching and feeling the skin stretch and squish over his radius and ulna
secretly studies anatomy using casey
i like to imagine he is a genetic freak, sure gaster got the majority of his dna from ink and error, but he had to improvise certain parts, and others he simply added to really make his bioweapon pop yknow? he has retractable fangs and his teeth and eyes glow in the dark. hes like an alternate, his body doesnt work like how its supposed to, in cases this means he is flexible, too flexible, his jaw can extend further than it should, but in others it means his body craps out and is really susceptible to certain things like carpal tunnel syndrome or some form of skeleton-monster-thing chronic illness
cannot stand his reflection because he looks like error, none of the bathrooms on the floor his bedroom is on have mirrors, they did at one point but after having punched one in panic ink got rid of them all. this only became worse after the tERROR incident
really needs to see a therapist, he hates relying on casey because he feels as though hes putting all of his problems on him. goes through moods where he doesnt tell casey any of his worries and puts on a pretend happy front, whilst they dont argue a lot this is usually when they do argue because casey doesnt like gradient keeping his feelings secret, and bottling up his feelings only ends up making gradient stressed and snappy
okay so i know we usually play armchair psycologist and just claim every one in the undertale extended universe is autistic, but i need you to hear me out on this one, this little fucker is so unbelievably autistic its insane, error and by extension any glitched weirdo is already so autismcoded, generally cant stand touch/intimacy, like to be alone, difficulties expressing emotions especially empathy, flat affect or displaying inappropriate responses or facial expressions, but on top of all that hes also got a limited group of friends (especially in tcoti lmaoo) and interests, acts somewhat childish despite his age, and is a complete and total shut-in. yes these things could be explained away by other things such as him having anxiety about leaving the house due to incidents but the way he goes on about it is so incredibly relatable to me, someone with autism, he cannot simply just avoid certain situations, no he has to completely and totally avoid any and all social interaction he cant control and script beforehand, which in and of itself is black and white thinking
also gracey is literally just autism x adhd
despite literally being together they both call each other gay like school kids, one will go in for a hug and the other calls them gaylord. to combat this they started preemptively saying 'no homo'
would absolutely get married for the bit
- headcANON, i feel like i have more to say, but everyt thought has left our brain
I AM EATING SO WELL RIGHT NOW I FEEL LIKE IVE JUST BEEN GIVEN A FIVE COURSE MEAL
Gradient is literally my soggy bread I left in the sink after being done with my breakfast. I LOVE THESE HEADCANONS TIME TO TALK ABOUT THEM!!
- You’re so right abt the video games thing. Also he does like shooters a lot because of how much concentration it takes - they’re very engaging to him. Plus getting on voice calls with strangers is nice, especially if they have no idea who he is. It’s nice to laugh with other people.
- definitely likes anime, definitely is converting Casey. He thinks Casey’s sitcoms are dumb but watches them anyways because he likes how much his friend likes them.
- He is absolutely under a rock and keeps up with nothing. He may be terminally online but he does not keep up with the news of the Omega Timeline at all. He knows a decent amount of the higher-ranking council because he’s met a lot of them in person, and he used to go their for schooling, but he doesn’t like most of them. For obvious reasons.
- if I had to voice claim Gray I’d say something close to Leonardo from TMNT Mutant Mayhem. But without the New York accent.
- his room is large for a bedroom but still pretty condensed.
- (to me personally) he is like. A Boy but in the most nonbinary way possible.
- He’s pretty good with technology, but Casey managed to completely blow his mind. This kid was pulling apart a shitty laptop and putting it back together to get it to run. If they built a PC together it would be 100% function and 0% form.
- don’t tell me he wouldn’t spend like 20 minutes just staring at Casey’s ears.
- He is 100% a genetic little freak of nature and I love all of those headcanons. You did mention Gaster though, which I thought was interesting - Gradient’s canon story is “he was created by a bored Gaster in the void because combo funny heehee”. But seeing as I have removed all of the fourth wall breaking aspects as well as emphasized that Gradient was originally built to be a bioweapon, most of his backstory has changed, including his creator. Gradient’s creation, why he was created, and by whom is a very important part of the story that I am telling :)
- He has a mirror in his bathroom but he doesn’t look at it unless he has to. He did crack it once in the aftermath of a massive panic attack, but Ink was able to fix it. Gradient doesn’t like looking at himself but sometimes he needs to if he’s doing hygiene things.
- I don’t think there’s ever been anyone that needs to see a therapist more than Gradient and Casey
- Autism
- you are probably on my discord server because there was a massive conversation about how they would absolutely get married and just make it the most insufferable and worst wedding ever known to man (on purpose)

Writing Commissions Info
Hey all, I’m officially opening writing commissions! If there’s a story that you’ve always wanted to see come to be, this is your one stop shop to bringing that idea to life! Here’s my writing masterlist if you’d like to see examples of my work.
Fandoms I will write for (a * next to the name signifies I have not written for the fandom before, but I do know the content and characters well):
Sanders Sides
Cartoon Therapy
Leverage
The Grishaverse
Undertale
Skyrim
*ATLA
*Stardew Valley
*Star Trek TNG
*Other: message me and we’ll talk about whether or not I can help you!
Content I WILL write:
OCs: If you are willing to give me info on their appearance, personality, quirks, etc., I am more than happy to write a story with your OC in it. If you’d like an OC, I’d appreciate it if you’re willing to have an open dialogue with me while I write so I can ensure that I’m portraying your baby properly.
G/t (for examples of my G/t writing, check out @sanders-sanctuary-au)
Humans are weird/Humans are space orcs
Fae AUs
Pretty much any AU, fantasy, sci-fi, college town, coffee shop, period piece, etc. Talk to me about what you want!
Unsympathetic Sides: Talk to me about your ideas. I reserve the right to decide not to write a u!sides piece that goes too far or makes me uncomfortable, but as a general rule, I’m down to write stories like this.
Whump
General violence/mild gore
Mentioned/implied NSFW
Any ship that does not include incest/pedophillia
Character Death
Angst with no happy ending
Content I WILL NOT write:
Extreme gore
Explicit NSFW or smut
Incest/pedophillia
Vore or other fetish fic (even if nonexplicit)
In general, if I decide that a fic will make me too uncomfortable, I reserve the right to deny your commission request. If that happens, you don’t owe a cent, don’t worry!
Pricing (all amounts are in USD):
Payment will be made to my paypal (paypal.me/ironwoman359). My pricing is based on word count, and will be roughly $1 per every 100 words, at a $5 minimum. So if the story is between 100 and 500 words, the price will be locked at $5. After 500 words, the price will go up $1 for every 100 words written. So a 2,000 word story would be $20, a 2,500 word story $25, etc. I will be using rounding to make this easier to calculate, so a 1,450 word story would be $15 but a 1,449 word story would be $14. Feel free to message me if you’re confused on pricing.
When commissioning you’ll have two options with price, either tell me a specific word count you’d like the story to be (for example, “I want a 2,500 word story please), or give me a price range you’re willing to pay (for example: “I’m willing to pay up to $35 for this commission) and I’ll give you the total based on word count when I’m done. For either option, I’ll be asking for $5 up front, to cover my time for outlining/planning, and the rest of the payment will be due when the fic is complete. Unless the work is extremely long, you can expect at least a rough draft within a week of commissioning. If for any reason it ends up taking longer, I’ll be sure to let you know.
If you want to buy a commission, either DM me here on tumblr or email me at [email protected].
If you have a story that you want to see me write, whether it’s an idea you have and want to see brought into the world, a premise you’d like to see my take on, a gift for a friend, or a continuation/elaboration/sequel to any of my existing work, please consider commissioning me! If you don’t want/can’t afford a commission but still want to support me, I also have a ko-fi you can donate to. Have a great day!
-Taylor <3

As a Pallet cleanser...
I’ve posted a bit to much Meat. And so before I dive on in to Candy, which, from the impressions I’ve gathered, contains terrors greater than those found in meat, I’ll be providing some ‘Candy’ of my own, hopefully in a form reminiscent of thin mint cookies.
I’ll be making as wholesome, happy, and generally carefree a post as I can possibly make.
I’m going to be BluHing out my thoughts and ideas for things I would Hope for, dream of, and expect to possibly see in various percentages of those three of-
Animal Crossing.
As Animal Crossing has progressed through the Years, more and more chances for Player agency to influence the world have come to be. even going so far as to give you an official government job where you help to plan/fund Public infrastructure & The Arts. An update was even added at one point that would let you have more control over what Villagers were in your town; something practically impossible in past games, & in the pre-update New-Leaf.
I expect this trend to continue, though how it continues may vary; my Hopes for the hypothetically possible, & Dreams for the incredibly unlikely as follows.
Furniture Creation; it can be tricky getting that last piece of a set that just never seems to be in stock. but if you had a way to get furniture pieces that are not in your catalog, such randomness would be relieved… There’s even already ways to change some pre-existing pieces of furniture by bringing it and a set of gems to an npc in retail… severely limited in that form, but… a definite precursor to being able to get the furniture you want by using resources you have. and while it is a spin off I know little about, I believe Pocket Camp actually Does have a more tangible form of ‘crafting’. it even has an official Quarry to dig in.
extensions on the new ‘burst collection’ mechanic introduced in Pocket Camp; Pocket camp introduced items such as fishing nets and honey for gathering fish and bugs faster than one could with a rod or bug net. in a new game without micro transactions, a number of things could be done to balance the effectiveness, cost, and availability of items that help make it easier to get things; like rotted turnips & candy attracting ants, but elaborated upon.
improved mail system; just a little thing here. maybe a Villager you had been best friends with, but who had to move away, could send you a postcard inviting you to visit, should you ever wish to do so, with a Picture of their new town on it.
Food options; even if they are as useless as eating has always been, more options would be nice. like actually getting to partake in the displays that appear on some holidays, or being able to actually eat some pudding, like what some Villagers claim to have accidentally eaten 23 servings of from time to time… And hey, if some villagers have favorite foods, getting it for them could be a nice thing to do. maybe going to Brewsters could serve a purpose other than buying coffee till you’re given access to Gyroid storage, or working a small, part-time job.
semi-open world feel; even if it’s just an illusion, it would be groundbreaking for The Flanking Cliffs to finally give way to nature. even if the Cliffs are just sometimes replaced by massive clusters of impassible, unchopable trees that serve the same purpose. a tiny bit of variety in world wall could help. but full, low restriction openness is the dream… maybe have rivers a little bit wider than most, that you could eventually make crossable with foot-Bridges…(trains and such have their own bridges already of course, so you can still take the train to new places) … you know what? yea… Building Bridges… uniting the World… I like that. from now on, my hypothetical Animal Crossing game will be called ‘Animal Crossing Bridge Builders’.
Wood?/new tree mechanics?; the Ax is one of the least used tools. and once you’ve got the trees you want exactly where you want them, it begins to feel like Time slows down… The World only changing when you or villagers make it change, or with the seasons. a bit more of a purpose to trees could be an incentive to experiment, or to pay more attention to The World, as you watch new saplings grow far more frequently than you ever did when planting new trees was a one-off aesthetic setup. Plus, if furniture crafting does become a thing, you got to get materials somewhere.
‘More’; exactly as it says on the tin. More fruit types, more tree types, more Villagers… a simple expectation, but one worth note.
extend on the mining thing from pocket camp?; I’m mostly thinking of this for the sake of a single gag… The mining place underground is randomly generated once a week or so… And poor Mr. Resetti… Another job change has resulted in them being tasked with helping facilitate the process that… Resets, the underground so that you’ll always have fresh access to the resources you need.
(huh… food, crafting, fishing, foraging, mining… this is starting to become more and more like Stardew Valley, only without an official farmland)
Balloon Presents; you ever wonder where those balloons come from? maybe you could give something back. Perhaps you could release things up into the air, where someone, somewhere will eventually get it.
‘Island Search’; an excuse for the ability to Design, shape and all, your very own island. after all, the Ocean is so big, that of course you’ll end up finding an island that matches what you want. The ultimate in Player agency over control over their environment; such as also being able to send invitations, or approve applications for Villagers so that they can come and live on your island. and, depending on how ‘north or south’ your island is, the seasons may pass normally, seem to always be summer, or so on.
non-real-time option; this is likely a dream that would be divisive. Real-time has always been a staple of the series. a mechanic that always has been. Well, like what was done with Breath of The Wild, even the most fundamental core aspects of the series should be open to revision and review, to see if it really is the best possible option. What if sleeping in your Bed could actually pass time? what if you didn’t have to be caught in a cycle of only being able play for however long it takes you to find the ore & money rocks, the new buried objects, and such, before the majority of everything new in the world that day has been expended, leaving the chance for you to stale the remaining time you play by running through pre-treaded ground, or for you to simply skip time anyway and change the date to, for example, see if what you want in the store or such shows up. (the ability for the gameplay loop to avoid turning stale could also be avoided with any other number of changes that could be implemented) this is just a possibility worth keeping in mind. also, next, as a possible middle ground that could help branch the two different time options…
Live events; like how Splatoon has Splatfests, and Smash has select Spirit events, there could be special happenings that follow a Real-realtime structure. like, ‘all furniture you’ll find by shaking trees will match your favorite Color this week!’ or, ‘manta-ray migration! the Villagers are going to be celebrating this event as they would a holiday sometime this week’(perhaps on the first available in-game day you play that week, so that it isn’t restricted to only a 24 hour window that some people would be more likely to miss)
more Amiibo Villagers; this might fall under ‘more’, but wouldn’t it be amazing if a majority of the amiibo released had villagers associated with them? I for one, would love to have an Octopus Guardian Villager Friend.
better character creation; the game has partially approached this, with things like beak accessories, but, what if you could be an animal like the other Villagers? And, perhaps, if you opt-in to this, The game could eventually Generate an Npc version of your Animal based on various actions and interactions the game slowly gathers as you play. An Npc that could then be found by other Players in their Worlds. so that there is always a new face to meet… there is a lot of variables here, and naturally, it would need to be monitored to prevent those with unkind intent from tainting the world, but if the game could Generate new Villagers, rather than being limited to a set of pre-made Villagers that would seem to be a drop in the bucket by comparison… and for you to know that the character you’ve met, who is kind and friendly to some degree, was created based off of a Person in the real World who is not all that different from you? To have a Worldwide Community of People able to see that no matter who you are, or where you come from, that you can be kind? That we can learn to love eachother, both despite and because of our differences? …
I’m not going to say it could lead to World Peace, but I won’t say that it won’t lead to World Peace.
Sable; ‘oh Hello! How are you doing today? My sisters can help you if you wanted to buy something, but if you wanted to make something yourself, I could help you figure it out’
Years of countless Players sharing their Love and support for Sable has grown into a warm feeling she will always have with her in her Heart… She will Never doubt herself or her value as a person ever again… And if you still choose to talk to her every day, She will still want to be your Friend.
Permanence vs drifting; It is nice to work hard, and make something of the town you live in… Developing bonds with your Villagers… Till you know every bump, crack, and turn in it… till it becomes Home… But, more and more traveler elements have been introduced… Campers, and mobile homes. even the towns of other players accessed through your dreams. Perhaps you could explore the world, like the Villagers who visit your town are, ready to see who you might meet, and what you might see… and who knows… maybe one day, you’ll stop. You’ll look around. You’ll feel the cool air against your skin. You’ll see the sun start to set beyond the mountaintop. You’ll sit by the campfire, and see smiles on faces… and just maybe… After how long it has taken you to reach this moment… You might decide…
That you are, right now, exactly where you want to be…
That you’ve finally made it Home.

You’ve Unlocked a Cutscene from “Soren Ren-egade Sharp”!
Continue?
>Yes
No
Warning! This cutscene contains suicide, alcoholism, and minor character death. Viewer Discretion is advised!
I remember the day I lost them. It had been a little over two years since I had came to Stardew Valley, leaving behind my best friend in the city; Ophelia.
I wouldn't lie; I had a crush on them during those days. We were extremely close; and we lived as roommates for a short time. I had grown up with them, and they supported me. Ophelia.
They had dark, jet black hair, with pretty opalescent eyes. Dark purple streaks scattered their hair, and they always had that perfect smile. We were best friends, the two of us. We fit like puzzle pieces in a sea of confusion. Impossible to touch when we were together, because we were always there for eachother.
… I remember the day I lost them.
Ever since my arrival to the Valley, I would call Ophelia up each and every week to update them on how things have been going. That particular week had left my heart heavy, but nothing I couldn't fix with a bit of art.
While I was drawing, I noticed my phone light up. Once, twice, three times. All these times I ignored them, figuring it was my sister or my parents pestering me once again about something or other.
My phone fell silent for a few hours, giving me ample time to cool down enough to check my phone without wanting to chuck it at the wall next to me. I lean back in my chair a bit, eyebrows furrowed as I saw all the calls were from Ophelia.
“...Weird, usually they just text me.” I muttered, listening to the voicemail on the last call. What I heard caused me to stop dead in my tracks.
“Ren, Ren I’m really sorry. I really am, but I can’t talk to you anymore. Not if you ignored me like this- not when you can’t help me. Then again, I guess no one really can, huh? Ahah…”
They sounded scared, sad, alone...I felt my heart drop.
“...You don’t need to worry about me, I’ll be fine. Everything will be fine soon. I’ll…”
Ophelia hesitated, as if unknowing how to say it.
“...G-goodbye, Ren.”
The line went dead, and with it any conscious thought that this was okay. None of this was okay. I scooted out of my chair and got up as I dialed them back up, over and over again. Everytime immediately shooting to voicemail, which I sent.
“Ophelia, please, listen to me; at least text me to let me know you’re safe. Don’t you dare scare me like this!” My voice was shaking a bit, and I wasn’t sure if I was just too stressed & overthinking things, or if things were really as bad as they seemed, “Answer the phone!”
This went on for almost three hours, anxiously calling and waiting to see if this was just some elaborate joke. By then, the sun was just starting to slip below the horizon. I got up, tugging on my jacket. I had to see them- I had to make sure they were okay, damnit! I might just be overreacting, but I couldn’t risk that.
I couldn’t have.
I wish I had gone sooner, fuck do I wish I had gone sooner. I ran out of the farm, much to my sister’s confusion, and down the path- quickly buying a ticket into the city before Pam could even think otherwise. I gave her a look, as she went to say something, and she must have understood. This was important. They were so important. As I watched Pelican Town fade into the distance, I couldn’t help but start shaking, trying to contain my sudden panic.
It took an hour’s time just to get back into the city, which made me swear under my breath as I told her I’d be back in about an hours time, before racing off down the streets. I kept looking at street signs, having to leap over the cars hoods whenever they got in my way. I couldn’t stop running, I had to keep moving until I found them.
It took me about fifteen minutes, getting from the bus stop to their apartment complex. My heart kept pounding in my heart, and everything below my head hurt from the sprinting, but I kept telling myself I had to keep moving. I stopped briefly, making sure it was the correct complex, before booking it up the staircase. With each staircase I scaled, I felt my panic began to rise. My phone hadn’t gone off the entire time, save for a text from Yasmine as I was on the bus earlier.
I didn’t stop until I was pounding on Ophelia’s door, desperately bashing it.
“Ophelia?! Ophelia! Open the door, please-!” I was so petrified of what I thought- and what I inevitably knew happened, “Ophelia!” When they weren’t answering the door, I took a step back, my vision spotting briefly between the run over here and the panic attack taking full hold of my chest. But I had to get inside. I had to make sure they were okay. I took another step back, before running at it and slamming my full weight through my shoulder and into the door. Thankfully, that door could hardly take fifty pounds, let alone 180. The lock snapped, a loud ring in my ears as I nearly toppled to the floor from the effort.
“Ghck-!” I quickly grabbed the door for support, taking a moment to breathe before looking up a bit. The apartment was dark, and by then faint gleams of moonlight shone in.
After a few moments to recompose myself to some degree- to where I wasn’t as likely to pass out- I slowly pried myself off the door to look around. The apartment was a wreck, between plants being knocked over and vases being shattered across the floor. I looked to their coffee table, to where their phone neatly sat. It dimly lit up with various notifications, but none went answered since they left that voicemail to me a few hours ago.
I heard my heart pounding in my throat. I searched through the rest of the apartment, finding nothing. ‘They weren’t even here...but where could they be?! Why’d they leave their phone here?!’
I did the next thing I could really think of to do, tailing it out of the room and up higher, higher, ever higher until I found myself close to the rooftops.
It was there I found them, sitting at the rooftops edge. My heart stopped, relief equally flooding and mixing with a sense of dread as I took a few steps forward. The closer I got, the more I saw they were holding a letter- which was just under their fingertips which rested against the ledge.
“...O-Ophelia?” I look to her, trying to steady my voice and my breathing. Why did I have this sense of dread? Was it intuition? Was it nausea from the height? I wasn’t sure...I was only certain that I wasn’t feeling too great right then, and the way Ophelia didn’t respond for several moments after didn’t help.
For a few moments, all I heard was the dull roar of the city, distant and faint, between shallow breaths I gave from wearing myself thin just trying to find them.
“Is...everything alright?” I eventually asked, containing my fear as my legs froze from stepping any further, “Do...you wanna talk? Y-your voicemail, you sounded….” I stopped myself before I could start rambling, knowing that it would likely just cause a panicked chain reaction. It didn’t stop my thoughts from circulating, though, and I had to bite my lip to keep from whining out of nerves, before managing a soft utterance that may has well have gotten lost with the wind.
“...Are you okay?”
Still, silence prevailed the terrace for several moments, before they finally spoke up.
“Ren...How do you know if you belong somewhere?” They started. They hadn’t turned to face me, “How do you know whether or not life is worth living, when all people do is mock you, and shame you?”
For a few moments, I couldn’t manage a response. What kind of question was that? I mean, I understood where they were coming from, but why were they asking me? I didn’t…
“O-Ophelia..I..” I didn’t know..
“...Please, Ren, head back downstairs.” They replied a moment later when I was still too busy being tongue-tied on a response, “It’s better for the both of us if you do.”
It was then my brain actually managed to kick back on long enough to find the will to speak again.
“Phelia, what do you mean? C-C’mon...step away from the ledge…” I said softly, offering my hand towards them. I felt I should know better about all of this, considering what happened this summer- with how I had to talk someone else down- and yet...I found myself at a loss.
“I told my parents this morning. I told them everything. About how I’m gay, a demigirl…” They finally turned their head to me at that point, and in the bright city lights shining faintly below us, I could see the tear stains along their face. Their hair was an unruly mess from tossing and turning, and the wind having not helped that for...well, Yoba knows how long they’ve been up here for.
“...Pheli-”
“They planned on putting me in conversion therapy...I’m...I’m not going to let them.” They said softly, a nervous smile on their face. Yet I knew, I’ve known them for so long. That smile was fake. It shown- in the way the corner of their mouth twitched ever so slightly. But their words...I felt entirely frozen, staring on with likely horror as the weight and implication of their words sunk in.
“Phelia, please think about this-”
“I told you to go downstairs.” Ophelia spoke, their tone more firm than before as they concealed their face from me once again. It didn’t take a genius to know they were close to tears though.
“...Don’t...don’t do this.” I muttered, more quieter, “Please.”
Ophelia sighed, remaining quiet as if considering the few words I spoke for a moment. Taking the opportunity, I speak up.
“I k-know things...aren’t looking good right now...But this isn’t solving anything. You have people that care about you, and- and I..” I was starting to choke up, “I care about you. Please, let me get you the help you need. We can think of a plan together, I just need you to step away from the ledge..”
Ophelia shook their head, getting to their feet. But made no movement to step towards me. Instead, they looked back, a pained smile on their face.
“Ren, you...you don’t need someone like me in your life. Trust me. You’ll only get hurt...and you put up with so much already.” My tongue felt like sandpaper, and I opened my mouth to object but...nothing came.
“I want you to do great things, okay? Like I told you when you moved. You have the capability to. You’re...you’re stronger than I am- than anyone I’ve ever known. But I can’t..” They laughed weakly, tears this time openly falling from their cheeks, “I can’t keep this up forever. Especially if they try… if they try and break me for who I am.”
My chest was seizing up on itself, and for a minute the whole world spun. I felt dizzy, as everything was so close to caving in onto itself that day. Yet, all I could do was utter softly as I stared back at them, fighting my own flickering vision.
“...Please...don’t…” It was all I could manage...No matter how hard I tried to think of something, I kept coming up blank. I couldn’t think of anything to say. All I could do was stand there as they turn their back to me, taking a breath. They’ve stopped crying, by then.
“Say goodbye to my mom and dad for me, will you? I’m sure they’d want to know what their ‘bastardized child’ did to themselves as they ‘damn herself’.” They said firmly, and I swallow the bile in my throat. Why couldn’t I move?!
“And hey, Ren?” They look back at me one more time, that same wry smile on their features, “I love you. Don’t ever forget that, okay…?”
It was then my body seemed to actually start to function again, a stifled gasp dying in my throat as I quickly ran over to grab them...but I was too late. I had reacted too late. My hand, the one that instantly shot out to grab them, only grabbed at open air.  Everything that followed, happened way too fast for me to think clearly on.
The way that I couldn’t even think to look down, and the dizziness that further took as I stopped breathing as a whole, stumbling away from the edge only to fall backwards and land on the concrete of the terrace. I didn’t even notice I had started screaming, bawling my eyes out with a pain that shook my body straight to the core. Every thought I had coalesced into one jumbled mess, a cyclone of fear and loss and a general feeling of just...pain. They were gone...just like that.
All I know, is that by the time my voice had gone entirely raw and I got some semblance of control over myself again, the only thought I had was simply; ‘How could I have let this happen…? DID that just happen?!’
My body was still trembling,  but even I couldn’t help the seething growing numbness as I slowly pushed  myself back up to my feet. Still, I was holding tears back. I had to be strong. I had to be stronger for them. Even if I wanted to, I had just...completely worn myself thin. I had to pause before I could even turn to leave, coughing harshly into my elbow. My throat burned with the familiar feeling of nausea, combined with the fact that I had been shrieking for what felt like ages. My chest hurt from that as well, and the overexertion I had put my body through.
Eventually though, I slowly walked downstairs...past their apartment...and away from the complex. Everything was in a misty haze; shrouded by my entire body feeling like the equivalent of a giant ball of lead, and my brain already attempting- and failing- to shove the night to the back of my mind.
Yet, when I fell back into the bus seat, Pam turned to me with a raised eyebrow.
“You okay, kid?”
“...” I remained quiet, only for a moment, before nodding and leaning into the window, “Yeah. Yeah, c-can you just take me home?”
My voice sounded maimed, but I didn’t even care. I found everything just felt...numb. Lifeless. Hazy. But the memories...they were still in the back of my mind. Definitely nothing a few hard drinks wouldn’t fix, that’s for sure. But I knew that once I did, it’d definitely be a road I couldn’t backtrack from.
‘...Sorry sis. I need to break our promise...for my sake, as well as yours. If it gets me killed, then so be it.’

6 Steps Of Mobile Game Development: How to Develop a Game
When we talk about game then there is different platform where We are starting a new category mobile game development. There are more tools and resources available for indie game development like Unity, Godot engine, unreal engine 4, Defold with different programing languages like Java, Js, Python, .Net etc.
1. Pick a (Small) Idea New game developers are often inspired by the games they wish to play. And if you’re curious about something like Civilization or Stardew Valley, you would possibly want to dive into an identical project right from the beginning. Unfortunately, you’re not ready for something complex. Game development may be a difficult skill that grows with practice. It’s like learning the piano — you've got to start out with easy, simple songs and gradually expand into tougher pieces.
2. Pick an Engine or Framework
The next step is to work out what engine, framework, or library you would like to use.
• Game engines (like Unity or Unreal) typically accompany graphical interfaces and therefore the most built-in functionality.
• Frameworks and libraries are usually in written form existing programming languages. Therefore, obviously these are easy to use fast in code. It’s make development fast as possible. They supply all of the functions you would like to make your game and obtain something that shows abreast of the screen, but they require tons more setup.
Non-Programmers

3. Create the Prototype Now it’s time to truly start developing. Your goal is to make a minimum viable product (MVP).
  4. Find Assets The next step is to feature art and sound to your game. you'll certainly try making your own if you’re curious about that. except for most of the people , it’s best to seek out free assets online. Sites like itch.io and OpenGameArt have many great resources. Most games you create will have prototype or temporary assets in their early versions, so it’s good to find out the way to find placeholder images and sounds online. But if we discard non-professionalism, then the gaze exposes a harsh truth. Steps to creating a computer game are complex and multi-component. Here you'll find:
• a lot of introductory planning and conceptual and practical work, exciting but very long and siphon the lifeblood out of game designers; • work on design and art that at an equivalent time inspires and shatter the nerves of artists who accept and implement endless edits; • programming and testing, almost like the fine jewelry work of a glass blower, when mistakes are often corrected only while the glass remains hot; • creating sounds and music that ought to give the sport its own unique and inimitable voice and make sound designers think hard about the way to avoid being almost like others; • as well as a bunch of people who connect departments, coordinate, communicate with the customer then on.
Mobile Game development is often compared with game design. We have already managed to tell everyone interested about the incorrectness of this comparison, so let’s briefly recall the essence.
Top Game developers are involved within the implementation of ideas written by game designers on paper. They enter the project after the artists have already created the required art, and that they are busy writing the code to form the merchandise interactive and embed the created art into it. The developers are liable for ensuring that the most character and therefore the game world are inseparable, and generally they are doing everything to form the concept work.
1. Game budget. In this budgeting environment a limited and short budget doesn’t mean lower quality. this is often just a marker that permits you to roughly estimate the amount of features, the extent of graphics and therefore the overall “packaging” of the sport .
2. Game type. to not be confused with the genre. Here, supported the budget, we define the sort of game from several main ones: mini 2D game, casual 2D/3D game, mid-core 3D game or hardcore 3D game and video game.
3. Gaming platform. it's necessary to work out that platform you're getting to make the game: mobile devices, PC, console, or even you would like to make a browser game.
4. Game genre. Here the selection is huge: simulation, strategy, sports, adventure, RPG, puzzle, board, and more. the selection of the genre should depend upon the size of the longer-term game. for instance, if you've got alittle budget, then you ought to not hope for genres like RPGs or simulations since they require the elaboration and implementation of an enormous amount of detail.
5. The audience. This point also has its nuances. If you're making an off-the-cuff game, then you aim for the most important possible reach of various players. If the sport is more narrowly specialized in terms of genre, it's necessary to obviously understand who are going to be its main consumer.
 Conclusion
At the final stag its nice to say that there is large scope of game at google play store and apple store as well. A high-level game doesn’t meter but quality of game does. Therefore, We at Mass Game Studio is option for mobile game development with our expert programmer, game developers.

I know you probably get asked this a lot but what games would you recommend? (for macs/computers) Thank you so much!
I don’t but let’s do this!! You can probably get a lot of these on sale right now through the Steam summer sale, fyi.
My top 3, all of which I played/can be played on a Mac:
Life is Strange - five serialized episodes general synopsis: You play Max Caulfield, an eighteen-year-old who has just moved back to her small coastal hometown to attend a pretentious arts school. Max mysteriously gains the power to rewind time, reunites with her childhood best friend Chloe, and together Max and Chloe use Max’s power to investigate the disappearance of local girl Rachel Amber and the rest of the town’s secrets.
Life is Strange isn’t a particularly graphic or gorey game but it does deal with a lot of dark themes and a lot of heavy moral choices. So if you are worried about a particular trigger or something it might be worth it to ask first.
type of game: This is a choice game, so a lot of the foundation of the story/gameplay is based on you as Max making decisions and the fall-out of those decisions.
I like it because: I love moral dilemma games, and Max’s rewind power makes it extra interesting, because you also have the option to choose something, let it play out, rewind and try the other option. I also loved playing a teenage girl growing into herself, and I thought the relationship between Max and Chloe was A+++. A girl-next-door lovestory between two girls? In MY video games??
Telltale’s The Walking Dead Game  - 3 serialized five-episode seasons, but only season 1 & 2 available on Mac; season 1 is the best anywaygeneral synopsis: Set in the world of the comics rather than the TV show, season 1 of The Walking Dead Game starts at the beginning of the outbreak. Lee Everett is on his way to prison for murdering a state senator when the zombie apocalypse gets in the way, and he winds up finding and caring for a young girl named Clementine who has become separated from her parents.
type of game: Unlike a lot of zombie games, this one also emphasizes choice and morality rather than your ability to quickly shoot a lot of things. As Lee you get to make moral choices, be a good leader, a bad leader, or no leader, decide who gets your help surviving and who doesn’t, what risks are acceptable and what aren’t, etc.
I like it because: Well, I love the choice games, and this was the first of its kind that I played. I think the story is really solid. The decisions can be difficult and startling. I loved Lee and Clementine, and several of the other characters.
Tales from the Borderlands - five serialized episodesgeneral synopsis: You play as two characters in this one. The first is Rhys, a middle manager at the morally bankrupt Hyperion corporation, who travels to a wildly dangerous planet called Pandora in order to try and steal a blackmarket deal from one of his company rivals. You also play Fiona, a Pandoran con artist who plans to swindle Rhys out of ten million dollars by selling him a fake artifact. Of course absolutely none of that goes as planned.
This is set in the same universe as the other Borderlands games, which are first person shooters, but you don’t need to know anything about them to understand or enjoy Tales. (I played without knowing anything, it was fine.)
type of game: A choice game like LIS & TWDG, but action-adventure-comedy rather than tearjerking moral dilemma.
I like it because: I think the cast of characters is great – super likable, interesting, endearing characters, some of my new faves, including a couple great roles for women. (I’ve written like 30k+ of fic in three months, so something stuck.) Plus surprisingly clever, funny dialogue, and a fun heist-y scavenger hunt type story. I love elaborate heists!!
Those are my favouritest faves but here are some others!!:
Portal series  - two games, portal and portal 2Portal is a puzzle-solver game, so quite different from the rest of the list. You play Chell, who wakes up stuck in a test facility for sinister company Aperture, completing dangerous and inexplicable ‘tests’ that involve strategically placing portals to complete obstacle courses. Way, way funnier than it sounds, thanks to the ever-present narration of the robot running the facility.
Portal 2 is a much fuller game than Portal, in my opinion, but the story does follow one from the other, so play in order if you can.
Gone Home  - single game, maybe ~2-3 hours gameplayGone Home is in many ways more like an interactive story than a “game”, but I still found it really cool. Your character returns home to find her parents and her younger sister all absent, and you must explore the house, investigating all the items and piecing together pages of your sister’s diary, your parents’ notes and calendars, etc, to figure out what has become of everyone.
Oxenfree  - single game Oxenfree is a classic – a bunch of teenagers celebrating graduation by spending a night on a nearby island rumoured to be haunted, only to discover the rumours are, uh, probably true. You play Alex, who has recently lost her beloved older brother Michael, and is meeting her new step-brother Jonas for the first time. You control Alex’s dialogue and to some extent make Alex’s choices for her. Beautiful and unique art, good voice acting, and an intriguing plot. Definitely a little spooky. And if you play Oxenfree once, you definitely have to play it a second time – it’s worth it. Trust me.
The Wolf Among UsThis is another Telltale game, so in the same vein as Tales from the Borderlands and The Walking Dead. It’s based on the Fables comics, which if you aren’t familiar, means a bunch of fairy tale characters now living in real-world New York City. You play Bigby, the Big Bad Wolf, who is sheriff, and therefore must investigate a string of murders.
The Stanley Parable I can’t really begin to explain what this game is. If you want something really different from anything else you’ve ever played, try the Stanley Parable. Doesn’t require any skill at shooting or video games in general.
Firewatch I haven’t actually finished Firewatch yet, but I hear very good things, and it’s similar to Gone Home in structure, with maybe a little more gameplay. A man working as a park ranger at Yellowstone for the summer investigates weird happenings. His only company is the voice on the other end of his walkie-talkie.
Stardew ValleyThis is literally just Harvest Moon. But if you liked Harvest Moon back in the day, you’ll like Stardew Valley.
Broken AgeI haven’t finished Broken Age either, but it is a point-and-click puzzle game with a lot of humour and set in two very different but very creative worlds.
Octodad: Dadliest CatchYou are an octopus who has married the human love of his life but must maintain a convincing human disguise to hide from the local sushi chef who wants him dead. Words can’t explain Octodad but its launch trailer can.
