One Night With You
╰─..★.──────────╯
(Mike Schmidt x Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary~ Mike is a very touch starved man. He spends all his nights at work and the daytime caring for Abby if not sleeping. He hadn't been with a girl since his junior year, making him feel like a total loser. The amount of times where Mike went back and forth with his inner thoughts, convincing himself that he was the problem was getting pretty intense and it was clear that he just needed a night out to clear his mind and prove those thoughts wrong.
You've been a "dancer" for the past few months at the downtown strip club, just trying to make ends meet. There was a tough competition working against you. You were new to this line of work whereas the other girls had been in the game for a while now, but you kept pushing on desperately. How else were you going to make rent or keep the lights on? The nights were slow and building a consistent flow of clientele proved itself to be a challenge, that is until one night when you meet a new guy outside of the nightclub.
Tags~ Stripper reader, Mike is a SIMP!!!, lowkey enemies to lovers but not really, no smut (YET...)
Note~ This took me much longer than I thought since I've been super burnt out of writing lately, but I hope you guys enjoy! As always if there's anything in particular you would like to see in chapter 2, please lemme know
⊱✿⊰
Mike felt confused with the lack of responsibilities and errands to run on this warm summer night. Abby was off at a sleepover and Steve finally hired a second night shift worker, leaving him all alone with his reoccurring self doubt introspections. Dude gets one night for himself and simply cannot think of a single thing to do to pass the time. He laid there in his bed tossing and turning unable to fall asleep. He jolts up feeling frustrated with himself, "Ughh... just fall asleep already bro..." He shifts around in his bed and grunts, "I can't do this-". He sits up and sulks his way into the living room, plopping down on the couch. Mike pulls out his phone and begins to scroll.
He isn't really the social media type but had made an anonymous instagram account a while ago for mindlessly scrolling. After what seemed like hours, Mike stumbles across a video of you. You were practicing a routine for the club, twirling and moving seductively. Mike felt himself grow larger in his pants and put the phone down in shock. He stares up at the ceiling in disbelief, damn you really got him feeling this type of way this quickly? He looks down at his lap and feels helpless. He wrestles with his feelings for a while and ultimately picks his phone back up to look more into you.
He clicks on your account and "researches" a bit. There's multiple videos of you practicing, photos of your skimpy outfits, and the most captivating selfies he's ever seen. One of your posts has a location tagged in the top corner, "Deja Vu Showgirls". He looks further into the club, finding that it's not too far from the pizzeria. "Fuck it. Why not..." he whispers to himself. Mike ensures he's well groomed for the occasion. if you're there he wants make a good impression. He showers, dresses in the best outfit he can come up with, and slaps some product in his hair. He finally felt content with his appearance and hopped in the car.
You weren't surprised to see another night play out typically. Maybe 2 or 3 cheap lap dances and a couple short sets up on the stage for less than 50 bucks. This clearly isn't working for you, at this point you've spent more on outfits and shoes than you've made while working here. An older gentleman walks up to you reeking of alcohol and cheap cologne, you couldn't help but gulp at the thought of providing your services for him. Yeah you were a stripper but you still had standards that made doing your job successfully hard at times.
"Well aren't you something?" he slurs while damn near tipping over from intoxication. You sigh and snap into your persona. "I'd hope so, this outfit ain't cheap y'know!" you reply in a flirtatious tone. You grab him by the hand and lead him to a booth, preparing for the worst. He starts groping on your sides which makes you shudder. Maybe this place isn't for you after all. "H-hands off baby.... Use your eyes and focus on me" you redirect with confidence. Times like these made you wish someone could just scoop you off your feet and save you.
He drives to the location with his heart pounding out of his chest. He'd never been to strip club before so Mike felt nervous even making his way closer to where you have the slightest chance of being at. He pulled into the parking lot and shut his car off abruptly, taking deep breaths to calm his nerves. "What if she isn't here? I don't even know the girl why am I acting so fuckin' weird about this.... I really need to get out of the house more" he thinks to himself while gripping onto the steering wheel. After a few mental pep talks to himself, he finally musters up the courage to get out and make his way in.
Just as he goes to push the door to the club open, you storm out with eyes welling with tears. Mike stumbles back a bit not wanting to startle you. You're holding your pricey Pleaser heels in hand, walking barefoot and trying your best to keep it together. All you want is to curl up into a ball and quit at life. You thought that creepy dude would cheap out on a dance, not grope and hurl insulting names at you for rejecting his advances! You look up from the ground and lock eyes with a man you've never seen before. He's cute... too cute to be wasting his time at some dingy place like this.
"Can I help you?" you snap at him with a shaky voice. It was hard not to notice the concerned look on his face. "No I'm-" he stutters before you promptly cut him off. "Leave me the fuck alone then." His face goes pale hearing you say this, he didn't even get a chance to meet you yet and he feels as if he already blew it. You pace towards your car and pop the trunk, filling it with the all the contents of your locker. You pick a T-shirt out of your duffle bag and drape it over your revealing outfit. His presence is burning a hole into your back so you swiftly turn around to meet his gaze.
He walks over slow and bashfully. There's a pink tint to his cheeks and he can't keep his hands still out of anxiousness. "Dude are you good?" you ask. He looks as if he's going to break a sweat, "Yeah... I'm good. Are you though? You looked pretty shaken up back there." You assumed he was just another guy looking to get lucky with a dancer after a shift change. "Look, if you want to get some action, walk your ass into the club. I'm not who you're looking for" you reply. His stomach drops hearing your voice. It was one thing to see you for the first time, but to hear your voice even if it be out of anger made Mikes head spin. He didn't want to sound like a complete creep stalking you out to your job for a closer look but you were exactly who he wanted.
"That's not why I'm here. Fuck- look... To be totally honest, I'm not a strip club type of dude. I just- I saw a video of you on instagram and I was- y'know... impressed by your talent and beauty." Typical response coming from a man trying to bring a stripper home for the night you think to yourself. "I'm not shocked by your reaction. You realize that's what I hear like- 10 times a night, right?" you say with a sarcastic tone. He seemed a bit more genuine with his words than the others but men will do and say anything when they're in need of a quick fuck. "Not that type of girl sir. Try one of those cheap hookers down the road" you point down the street and close the trunk.
"Please... I know how this sounds, believe me I know how dudes are but-" He sighs and continues, "But I don't have a lot of experience with girls so- I thought coming here... to meet someone new would help" he says looking very serious, almost to the point of desperation. If he weren't so damn handsome you'd turn him down in a heartbeat but something in you is screaming to give him a chance. He seems to be telling the truth and damn is he starting to fluster you with the whole innocent act. "Fine. I'll give you my number but don't you dare think about blowing my phone up." You scribble your phone number into his palm with a pen from your bag and blow him a kiss while getting in your car to drive away.
Mike smirks and waves at you, watching you drive off into the distance. "That was easier than I expected...huh..." he whispers. He gets back into his car and texts you, already so eager to see you again. The message reads:
Hey it's Mike, the guy from earlier. You doing anything tonight? I could take us out to a bar or something? :)
His cheeks start to blush again from imagining you two hanging out. He desperately craves a deeper connection with you but doesn't want to come off as too interested off the bat, it could scare you off for all he knows! His phone dings and he reads it:
Shitttt I'm free as long as you're gonna be on your very best behavior!!
⊱✿⊰

— I can't decide if it's a choice getting swept away, I hear the sound of my own voice asking you to stay. . .
sypnosis; the beginning of the relationship between duchess abigail and the new viscountess ellie seems complicated by their own prejudices against each other, causing animosity. although, as they get to know each other better, they may be able to find a middle ground, right?
notes; just finished the second season of bridgerton (way too late...) and got totally obsessed, so i ended up here writing a little something about the beginning of the relationship between these two in a similar universe... (even though none of them wear dresses, i dunno why, but i just can't picture ellie or abby in those dresses!!!)
warnings: none! just historical inaccuracies
Tumblr media
The beginning of their relationship sparked a genuine scandal, with Abigail brimming with prejudice toward Ellie's poor manners and defiant nature, never fearing to question everything, excessively abusing her newfound position as a newcomer to the Miller family.
Ellie, on the other hand, proudly rebuffed Abby's feigned courtesy, fully aware of her true sentiments. After all, it was the prevailing opinion when eyes scrutinized her from head to toe.
Thus, their relationship evolved into a constant competition at balls, where they vied to invite more ladies to dance, paying more attention to each other than to their own partners. (Even if Williams detests dancing with her life)
Ellie would purposely brush past Abby, aiming to test her patience, yet she couldn't help but stare whenever Anderson rolled up her sleeves and flexed her muscles, though she would never admit it aloud.
Abigail would murmur uncertain rumors about Ellie in the company of her friends, relishing in how Williams had mastered the skill of lip-reading to uncover secrets and complain about it.
"God! I can read her lips from here and tell she's speaking ill of me," Ellie comments to Dina, completely outraged, rolling her eyes and letting out an annoyed huff, unable to believe it.
Dina simply looks at her curiously. "Why are you even looking at Anderson's lips?" she questions teasingly, causing Ellie to release an even more exasperated sigh.
Though the Anderson dukes' family maintained a cordial relationship with the Miller family, who held the title of viscounts, Jerry often accompanied Joel on hunts, enjoying long evenings discussing business and their families, both having daughters in their legacy.
Thus, in the summer, while in the countryside, Ellie and Abby found themselves forced to spend even more time together, much to their horror, competing in croquet matches in the vast gardens. Ellie used every turn to distance the ball as far as possible from Abby.
However, Anderson returned the gesture, using her strength to push her away, taking up more space than necessary, blocking Williams' view for her next strategic shot, ruining the few occasions Ellie decided to focus on herself.
"It was my turn!" Ellie exclaims, utterly indignant, continuously tapping Abby's shoulder to get her attention. "Move!"
"Miss Williams, you're only going to use your turn to sabotage me, aren't you? Leave me alone," Abigail replies, rolling her eyes and not even paying much attention, too focused on calculating the perfect shot.
"You're tricking. How low you've stooped, Anderson," Ellie mutters under her breath, defeated, crossing her arms and stepping back to judge her with her gaze. "Unfair..."
Ultimately, the supposedly friendly match ended with both arguing, demanding the other to surrender, but neither would yield to the absurd, pathetic victory of a simple family game aimed at improving their relationship.
That seemed impossible until one night, when Ellie, unable to sleep, wandered through the grand corridors of the country house admiring the artwork, she encountered Abby, who seemed to be in the same predicament.
That night, they argued again, but this time not about each other, but about their views on the art talent reflected in the paintings, with Ellie contradicting Abigail, who reluctantly gave her the floor knowing she was an artist, albeit ashamedly denying it.
"You're much more intellectual than I am..." Abby whispers that statement near Ellie's ear with a slight smile on her lips, which the latter isn't sure whether to interpret as genuine or playfully teasing.
"Not at all." Williams quickly shakes her head, her hand moving to tuck a strand of Abigail's blonde hair behind her ear deliberately and effortlessly. "You're not so bad yourself..."
"Shut up." Abigail responds teasingly, letting out a small laugh, her warm breath brushing against Ellie's freckled cheek. Without hesitation, she leans in to accept the touch she offers. "Accept the compliment, will you?"
"You're so irritable, Miss Anderson." Ellie retorts with the same tone, not backing down but also not feigning any innocence about her own words.
Well, it seems they can't even agree on that!
And although they tried to ignore it, that night they both went to bed with a shared complicit smile. Ellie continued to compete relentlessly with Abby, who never seemed to be beaten, willing to play along without any annoyance, but rather enjoying it.
Upon their return, the rumors about Williams ceased within society. And if anyone dared to spread misinformation, Anderson would swiftly intervene, considering it unnecessary to mention Ellie's surname, not because he liked her, but because it was... repetitive.
Thanks to that encounter in the countryside, perhaps Anderson softened towards Williams. They spoke sparingly, but always about specific topics, something they found difficult with others. In Abby's case, it seemed everyone agreed with her due to her position, while with Ellie, no one seemed willing to listen.
And what better than two intellectual women arguing over tea time, where tranquility was supposed to reign? There they were, contradicting each other, but no longer with the desire to feel superior or with pure malice derived from dislike, but rather finding pleasure in the discussion, spending hours without reaching a conclusion.
Over time, Ellie and Abby's discussions became a regular ritual, a moment awaited by both to exchange ideas and opinions on various topics, from politics to art, literature, and science.
"You can never grant credence to such thoughts. It's illogical," Ellie argues with a smug smile, leaning back in her seat with her legs comfortably spread, albeit not in a very ladylike manner. "They should revoke your right to speak."
"And yours to partake in society," Abby retorts wryly, tapping her foot against Ellie's ankle to prompt her to sit upright and formally, even if they were alone.
"Oh, please," Ellie sighs exhaustively, rolling her eyes and ignoring Abby's indirect commands. "I've seen you sit the same way countless times."
"Not that I can recall," Abigail counters, shaking her head slowly, adjusting in her seat similarly, sitting rather ungracefully with her knees apart, her arms resting there, holding her chin with one hand.
Williams, once seen as an intruder, was now a necessary companion in Abigail's life, sought after at every gathering, dance, or event, for a chat, even if only for a few minutes of silly, sarcastic banter. It seemed Ellie was able to amuse Abby like no one else.
Ellie, on her part, was more than pleased to leave behind her indifference toward Abby. Now she greeted her without hesitation, with a smile on her freckled face, offering her hand with the need to maintain minimal contact. She always found herself standing by Abby's side at balls, no longer seeking other dance partners.

Dance Moms Kalani Hilliker reveals the secrets of the show
Kalani Hilliker opens up about her experiences on Lifetime’s famous Dance Moms. And adds that the path I walked was difficult, full of challenges and hidden emotions, including anxiety stemming from my time on the show.
Tumblr media
In an exclusive interview with E! News, the 22-year-old dancer opened up about her stint on the reality show. In 2013, Hilliker joined the cast of Dance Moms during its fourth season, after placing fourth on the spinoff show, Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition.
“We were never given the freedom to express our true feelings,” Hilliker recalled. “As a result, I repressed a lot of my feelings, wanting nothing more than to be the best.”
Continuing with heartfelt reflection, she added, “All eyes were fixated on me, and I was determined to exceed expectations.”
After departing the show in 2017, Hilliker felt a sense of self-discovery as she embraced her womanhood. “Leaving that environment and living on my own allowed me to unearth aspects of my childhood that clung to me,” she poignantly explained.
Her journey had commenced at a mere 12 years old when she first graced the stage of AUDC, captivating audiences with her flawless technique. Abby Lee Miller, the host of the reality show, couldn’t hold back tears when Hilliker faced elimination, vowing to witness her dance again in the future.
Tumblr media
Despite the ups and downs of being a teen in the reality television arena, the Arizona native has no regrets. Instead, she embraces the show and Miller, 57, embraces the lessons she learned the hard way.
Hillicker insisted, “Everything happens for a purpose.” “I’m grateful for the show and AB. Without bringing me into this world, my career would not have developed into what it is now.”
As the Kare x Kalani founder added, “Admittedly, it left behind emotional scars. Each of us faced our own hardships, and I cannot speak on their behalf. For me, however, it was incredibly arduous. Undoubtedly, my time on the show contributed to anxiety and various other struggles. Nevertheless, in retrospect, I treasure the experience, for it has equipped me to advocate for mental health and impart dance education at an exceptional level.”
Noteworthy counterparts on the show included JoJo Siwa and Maddie Ziegler. Recently, Ziegler, 20, shared her side of the story during an appearance on the High Low with EmRata podcast. Her mother, Melissa Ziegler-Gisoni, expressed heartfelt remorse for the impact Dance Moms had on her daughter’s life.
“During a distressing panic attack last year, I reached out to my mom, and past memories resurfaced,” revealed the “Chandelier” dancer, who graced the show from 2011 to 2017. “Her sincere apology broke my heart. None of us could have predicted the intensity of the journey we embarked upon.”
Tumblr media
After Dance Moms, Kalani continues to dance as well as a vlog on her YouTube channel. She also ventured into the world of fashion with a line of formal dresses for prom girls, and several “Dance Moms” alumni like Nia and Kendall attended their launch event.

audc rewatch: “let the dancing begin” (s1, e1)
yeah. I’m really procrastinating y’all. s/o to lifetime for putting the full episodes up on youtube.
skill=technique
theme=hollywood
thinking about how gianna newborg said she doesn't think that mckaylee from s2 actually used her scholarship and like.....can you imagine going through all of That for nothing. I guess you get to keep the cash but still.
who was the girl dancing in the opening credits of this season cause I don't think it was any of the contestants
"she's my god" please pick a new religion
the early 2010s fashion of it all
why did I think jordyn was much younger than 12 when she was on this show?? and also why is her hair so crimped
Tumblr media
yvette really was a whole fucking thing wasn't she
you put a broke, shitty pittsburgh dance teacher on one lifetime tv show and suddenly all these women and children are acting like she's bob fosse reborn
I wonder why they did this first season in new york but the second one in los angeles.
I'm just kidding, this is still los angeles, it's just a different studio, and I'm just dumb lol.
you know that if your mom starts the first episode talking about how you are Definitely going to win, you're almost guaranteed to go home within the first three weeks
kyleigh jai's mom looks like monica from friends
Tumblr media
*spongebob voice* TeChNiQuE
"the skill for this week was technique but tbh I cbf about that because elisabeth is tall and blonde and I always wanted to be tall and blonde so" like. thanks abby. for nothing. also no wonder elisabeth didn't do well since she didn't actually have the best technique.
"overconfident people, I'm not attracted to. when people think they're all that and a bag of chips, maybe they're eating too many chips." whatever you say, yvette
I like how kelly says "bobby newberry" as if I would know who tf that is
asia's make-up............kristie ray, just let her be six
I love anthony doing all his choreographing while wearing a tie and a hat
it's funny that gianna said that in s2 she was hoping for tap but that a lot of the girls didn't know tap. I wonder if the poor experience with tap in this first season is why they just never bothered to do another one.
"the infamous...the lovely abby lee miller" pick one
*spongebob voice* SqUiDwArD!!! tEcHnIqUe!!!!
remember that one twitter thread where one of the pussycat dolls said it was basically a sex trafficking group. is that why robin antin got replaced for s2.
hiphop trio (jordyn, lexine, asia): poor lexine. also never understood why it was such a bad thing for them to lipsync during the dances cause I know they always got angry at asia for doing that but it seems like a reflex that they almost don't realize? so who cares?
I'm all the like white tweens in the audience booing when richy said he didn't think it was good hiphop
"asia, you were born to be a pussycat doll." hmm. not sure I'd want to hear someone say that to my six year old.
they should've kept it at this theater because this alley is a great place for fights
Tumblr media
jazz trio (madison, zack, hadley): they couldn't get robin to give them the rights to the actual version of "when i grow up" for this trio?? they had to use the knockoff version instead??
they just tell zach he has bad knees and move on. okay.
oh yvette, hadley is definitely on their radar.
tap trio (kyleigh jai, tessa, tua): I just wanna know why they were facing the back for the ending pose??
"tua, you are asian and therefore your biggest competitors are the two other asians." maybe that's why robin got kicked off.
why did tessa's mom hate tua so much??
contemporary trio (elisabeth, amanda, brianna): brianna was just such a good dancer. so was amanda. elisabeth did kind of get boned getting put with them for this first trio.
abby, it's almost like picking elisabeth because she was tall and blonde wasn't the right decision for the technique challenge.
"a ball of hope and fresh air"
the first richy finger wag!! and so soon!! also the first tearful elisabeth monologue
Tumblr media
"let's all clap for divorce guys!"
I'm erin implying that elisabeth played the divorce card on purpose (but I assume that was an editing choice. but still. lmao.)
also they didn’t say anything to brianna??
top dancer(s): brianna, madison (how poetic lmao)
Tumblr media
safe: hadley, zach, asia, lexine, kyleigh jai, jordyn, amanda
bottom dancers: elisabeth, tua, tessa
eliminated dancer: tessa
