The flight from Abu Dhabi is long, and exhausting, and it feels like it will last forever. Sebastian can't calm himself down for some reson. He plays with his phone, and when he's asked to turn it off, he plays with the ball-pen he's pretending to use to do the sudoku puzzle. When Britta takes it away from him, he pulls out the deck of cards and plays with them, until she demonstratively pulls her headphones and the sleeping mask on and procedes to ignore him for almost the whole flight.
He's going home. It shouldn't feel like this. He shouldn't be nervous. He's finally going home.
Fuck.
The airport is full as they wait for their connecting flight. Sebastian isn't even trying to calm down his bouncing leg. Britta has given up on calming him sometime between the baggage claim and the check-in and is letting him bounce as much as he wants. He loves her very much. He thinks he should have given her a raise before he retired. He'll write her another check for Christmas, or New Years. Or something.
"He'll be there," she says suddenly, and Seb stops bouncing his knee just enough to be able to turn to her. She's reading a book, some romance novel with a werewolf on the cover. He knows she'll leave it with him if it's good when she's done.
"You don't know that," he says, just to say something. She raises her eyes to his just so she can roll them very blatantly. "Did he say something?"
"He didn't have to," she replies, small smile appearing on her lips, because his anxiety is obvious. "He never says much anyway. You talk more than enough for both of you."
"Fuck you," he says, because he doesn't know what else to say. "You're fired."
She keeps laughing all the way through their boarding.

When they exit the Geneva airport, Sebastian is too tired to be anxious, and Britta doesn't look much better. She pushes his suitcase at him and says "Call me if you need me," and he hugs her tighter than he ever did in his life, clings to her because nothing will ever be the same after this, and even though he knows she means it, they both know that he won't be calling for a while.
"You know, if there are papparazi around, you two are fucked, again," a voice says from behind Seb. He freezes, but Britta saves him, like she always does. "There's going to be rumors, you know. Rumors about fucking."
"Good thing I'm used to handling fucking rumors, then, or you two would have been busted in 2017 already," she says as she moves from the hug. One look at Seb's face has her smiling softly, and she pushes him away gently. "Go," she says, and Seb finally turns around, heart pounding.
Kimi's face is expressionless, but his eyes are soft as he says "Hello, Seb. Welcome home."
