I think it's soo funny that Grian spent the entire session murder-happy, going after Bdubs, Impulse, Tango, Scott, pushing Joel off the moment he turns green etc., and somehow ends the session with a new solid alliance with Team T.I.E.S., and seems to be the one Bad Boy who isn't on "Shoot On Sight/Immediately Chase Off" terms with the Clockers and can walk up and chat with them about the warden etc.

meanwhile the only person who remembers any of this and wants to try and hold him accountable is Jimmy, his own teammate lol (that grian did NOT push off) whom Grian promptly threatens to kick out of the Bad Boys even though joel and jimmy are clearly ride-or-dies with each other

Like why did he end the session having lost the most points with his own team, whose whole schtick is being loyal to each other akjsdhf

Ok so there’s the canary and widow/smoke in the mines curse BUT I WOULD LIKE TO CALL ATTENTION TO TANGO

Because man doesn’t have a curse in the more traditional sense but there is a funky lil thing with him. There’s been two separate occasions now where c!tango dodged a death through technical issues.

1st was in LL, he was absent the session after bdubs turned red. This is after Bdubs chased him around with a sword, VERY ADAMANT on killing him. Tango survived both because it happened to be the end of the session and he happened to be missing for the next session

2nd was in DL, when he was retrieving the warden. He accidentally hit the it with a snowball, causing it to target him directly (this is the same mistake that cost Grian and Scar their series). But instead of being taken out, Tango times out for a second- which saves him from the sonic beam at the last second (LITERALLY THE LAST SECOND. Go back and watch his e3, you can hear it charge it up)

Ok so the “curse” is that he dodges death?? NO. THERE’S MORE BECAUSE

Both of these seasons where he dodged a death, he lost his final life in a sudden, clumsy way. In LL it was his trap, in DL Jimmy killed the both of them via enderman. These are both easily avoidable deaths, but they’re what got him.

SO I PROPOSE.

I was going to call it the rebound or boomerang curse. He is saved once, doomed later. HOWEVER, I think cheater curse is more fitting. He cheats death and has severe consequences for it (c!tango ofc, the real life irl man isn’t cheating)

Don’t get me wrong I do love the Hotel Transylvania series (…obviously) but one gripe I do have is when I look at the concept art for the sequels, especially HT2

While I do think they’re quite fun and lovable, the reason I love the first one so much is yeah it’s obviously supposed to be a fun kids movie, but in the midsts of the goofs there is a genuine story being told about a father trying to protect his daughter from a world he perceives as too dangerous for her. Even if it’s sometimes overshadowed by the comedy aspect, the story is about family and trauma.

When I look at the concepts for the 2nd movie, I can see a continuation of that narrative, now with the focus being on the conflict between father and son (drac and his father) and the struggles of identity (with Dennis being a half human). It seemed like those were going to have a lot more focus in the movie, but not really. Especially with Drac and Vlad’s relationship - the conflict was ended up being just a few sassy comments and a little monologue when Drac finally accepts Dennis not being a vampire. Boo.

And the conflict about Dennis and whether or not he’s a monster is really not fleshed out much at all - I think there could’ve been a lot of fun conflict of his struggle with identity and his difficulties with what everyone wants him to be. Especially with Mavis! In the movie she’s constantly pushing more towards humanity, with her indulging more in human things, wanting to move to California, and her raising Dennis as a human. Even before he was born it seemed she did not intend for him to be a vampire much at all, and that’s not really explored in the movie. But in the end it’s really just “Dennis is a monster!” “Nuh-uh” “nvm he is now! Roll credits!”. Boo2 (the sequel) ((pun intended))

Like yeah it’s fun but it doesn’t actually have a lot of substance, and the proceeding movies get worse in that aspect as they keep going, with them kind of just having traces of a more compelling story instead of just spooky goofs.

So yeah I love them because I’m a little dweebus, but they could’ve been a lot more interesting. They even really toned down a lot of what characterized monsters as a whole, but I can talk about that another time. Also I’m so mad they cut kid!Drac from the movie entirely, because he is so sad and adorable.

I think this is why people write fanfic. Perhaps I should write some.

Martha was a huge reason why he built the hotel in the first place #like he literally says to Johnny that he built it ‘to protect *her* daughter’. #not HIS daughter. he’s not doing it because of anything that happened to him #but what happened to HER #and she is mentioned in two unimportant lines in favor of Drac falling in love with fucking Ericka #I hate Ericka btw. and fucking Van Helsing. they could’ve been great but they just turned out terrible #Ericka’s one reedeming quality is during the tango scene but that’s just because I love the HT animation and think it’s so fun

Maybe it’s not so much that educated women spells doom for the birthrate, but rather how countries with educated  women treat women.  For example, men often have the ability to strive for both a career and a family.  But for women, a career and family are presented as a “choose one or the other.”  And then there seems to be this expectation that women will just naturally choose family over career, because that’s what they’re “biologically wired to do”?

Yeah, it’s easier for guys to be able to do both.  But I honestly don’t think that a woman should have to choose one or the other.  There are women who aren’t just naturally inclined to choose having children over everything else.  Maybe they want kids, but they also want to pursue a certain career.  Women are multifaceted- they don’t have a single interest in raising children nor should they be expected to want that as their sole job/goal in life.  So in a culture that presents the two as an either/or, women who don’t feel strongly about being married right off, or have a larger interest in a career path, will end up choosing the career and being forced into sacrificing having a family.

I know it’s possible for women to have both, and do it successfully (my brother is the stay at home parent while his wife works- some have a part time job with their spouses, etc.), but these options aren’t always readily available to women’s attention.

It’s not even “traditional.”  Women worked in addition to having a family all over the world.  Some of those jobs weren’t even easily done around rearing children- there were/are cultures where women did/do hard labor such as working the field while caring for children.

I don’t think that’s the only reason why birthrates are down.  From country to country, it will vary (America’s reasons will be different than Japan’s reasons for lower birthrate because of culture).  I know for here in the West, there are many choosing not to have kids because they don’t want to interrupt their lifestyle.  Someone else pointed out that women who do want families are hesitant because of unreliable men, and they don’t want to have kids with a guy who may end up just making them a single mother.  But I think that one step in helping birthrates could be figuring how we can make both career and family accessible to women instead of making them choose and then blasting them for making the wrong choice, based on where we stand on the issue.
