Straw hat women redesigns :) I was trying to doodle some of the crew and came to the realization that I just Could Not with Nami so I wanted to play around with it a little bit
Some more design notes below:
Nami’s design actually went a lot smoother for me than Robin’s! I think canon post timeskip Nami is a very low bar. While you can argue that to some extent Nami being vain and seductive is part of her character, I do feel that there are many more integral parts of her character that can be highlighted in her design, namely map making and her combat. Though not one of the stronger straw hats, Nami does seem to be well practiced with her staff outside of its use for weather manipulation, and I think her being a physical combatant, even slightly, can be better reflected with more loose clothing for better mobility.
For her mapmaking, I wanted her to have constant easy access to her tools and to information about the locale, so around her waist she has one large pouch at the back for books and scrolls and maps in progress and one small pouch to the side for writing utensils and measurement tools. As backup she also has 2 pens in her bun, which also act as pins for keeping her hair up if she ever needs to move a lot.
I’m not sure how clearly it shows up in the notes, but Nami’s shoe soles are also made from whatever artificial cloud material makes up the weather island she stayed on during the timeskip, so that it both pads her steps to make them soundless and bounces for better mobility. The shoes are naturally shaped like heels but without the actual heel, since she tends to move around on tiptoes anyways- a nod to her epithet as cat burglar and her past as a thief.
I made her shoulders a bit broader because I think they probably get a lot of exercise with her staff, and changed out the bikini top for a more supportive chest wrap, with a loose tank over it for breathability. The compression socks and sleeve are more stylistic than anything, since I like layers, but they might come in handy for her if she spends extended amounts of time sitting down making maps for the crew.
Robin’s was a bit more difficult for me to figure out, and I might go back and revisit it at some point. For Nami, it was a bit easier to imagine what would pair well with her combat methods and her needs as a mapmaker, but with Robin, she’s an academic who fights almost completely hands off, without a specific weapon to her name. Because her strength lies mostly in her devil fruit, she has a bit more room for style over functionality, but I also still wanted her to have something that made sense with what she was. I don’t really think I succeeded in that regard, but it’s also hard to convey what she does visually— she’s more of like a professor than a field archaeologist I think.
I really really enjoy her cowboy hat but I didn’t think it would match with the rest of the outfit so I switched it out for a wider brimmed hat and kept the orange sunglasses on it, as a nod to the revolutionaries with the combination of headwear and eyewear. She deserves a trench coat. I don’t make the rules. And the rest of the fit mostly came down to things I think I would enjoy wearing, haha
The trench coat is partially a nod to the scholars of ohara, who seem to wear white coats like lab coats in some screenshots of robin’s backstory. I think also the reading glasses help to make her seem a bit more academic, but aren’t prominent enough to leave a strong impression. All in all I do wish robin’s design had more functionality in it but I also think that robin is a character who probably enjoys dressing up nicely like this, especially in the comfort and stability of the straw hats.

DEAR VOIDS SLUGCAT DESIGNS HERE WE GO.
also this nightcat is seperate from my invterator askblog nightcat. for clarification
id honestly consider the cut arena scug 4 an oc at this point. it deviates so much from the One sprite we get. oops
seperates + Not So Line Lineup under cut AS WELL AS DESIGN NOTES woooh boy. MIND YOU its really long
Tumblr media
the Not So Line Lineup
Tumblr media
survivor! scar on snout is based on one of the cut arena sprites for player 1, it has a little.. scar? notch? line? there. survivor passage symbol on head as well and freckles :) some brown to match monk sorta. spikey fur!
Tumblr media
^ what the scar is based on
Tumblr media
overall more rounded than survivor, to reference the monk passage symbol which is also on their head. a little dewlap to reference gourmand - i think gourmand and survivor and monk are related. lighter yellows to reference survivor!
Tumblr media
third sibling!!! the little orange line on their head is actually karma 7 (i realized survivor is karma 5 and monk is karma 6- so why not go with the theme?) and a sorta partial saint symbol on their head, missing the middle line. yellow/red accenting color to reference monk and survivor sorta. blu :)
Tumblr media
sorta pinker. based on one of my old draft designs, just made a little better. green accent color to match sig. a little fluffy and sharp. ear tufts cause theyre fun and a tufted tail. hunter passage symbol is also on tail teehee. sig's head symbol is also on hunter. the scar is also green
Tumblr media
nightcat is some sorta weird echo thing. to me. little wings for the fun of it. i dont have much on this design honestly other than i used dodge A Lot. the accenting pink on the dark purple parts was originally an accident but like? it vibes.
Tumblr media
wanderer! cause actually why not. the white symbol on their chest is a half of sig's symbol, i'd like to think sig helped suns make wanderer. if you put its head symbol together with nightcat it makes the scholar :) blue accenting color is close to the negative/opposite colors of nightcat.
Tumblr media
i dont have many notes for this biggol guy. sorta looks alike survivor and monk i suppose. feathers! theyre sorta rose colored i think. idk. it looks nice. simple patterns cause gourmand is a symbol guy
Tumblr media
artiiii. i wanted to put an accent color on arti but it was so Hard because i was Stubborn and Needed That Damn Cyan on it. markings based on a siamese cat except for the ones on the arm and legs, theyre sort of tabby based?
green pup is tabby based in markings, pink sorta looks like flower petals. blue pup is siamese cat based in markings and the yellow? idk it looked nice
Tumblr media
RIVULETTT. i love rivulet. i made the bright sunset gradient contrast by adding some darker but still vibrant blues and purples to the design, as well as a cream. there's also actual gills udner the display frills (which also got a color update to match instead of being an offbrand bi flag). also webbed fingers!!!
Tumblr media
vibrant fuckin purple because it looks nice actually. made it have some cream-pink-purple thing as underbelly instead to make it look nicer. head markings are based directly on suns :) biggol Orb Eyes to Stare In Your Soul. accenting colors sorta match rivulet? idk? they just look nice without contrasting too much. also whiskers. and tall. and thin with long ass grabbers
Tumblr media
i kept getting "portal colors" and "aroace flag" and like YEA YALL ARE RIGHT ACTUALLY i just wanted to fit blue and orange on it though lmao. anyway pretty simple body markings to make up for the Six Fucking Accent Colors. three forehead dots are yellow while there's an x on its back and head thats blue... to imitate the rot :) why? figure it out yourself
Tumblr media
inv!! not much has changed since honestly i just saturated the colors a bit more i think. idk. i like the yellow on inv though so i make it more prominent sorta? just a guy. still an iterator that turned itself into a slugcat. to me.
Tumblr media
originally based on this cut arena slugcat
Tumblr media
then i uh. accent color and scales and um. um. im so normal about this slugcat holyshit curveberry my beloved.... anyway the scales were originally a dark teal? then i hueshifted them and Oh Fuck Dusk Colors Holy Shit. its so good i genuinely love this design so much i doodled it lmao. the scales are based on a pangolin. i actually have ideas for this if it were to be a slugcat campaign...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
another cut arena slug! this time this one. i tried to keep it more in line rather than go a bit silly ehe. i still like how this came out- i think the accent color is nice. it looks like bingus to me actually. bingus slugcat
Tumblr media
iggy projection slug. weird thing with lines under its eyes
Tumblr media
to me this is another of nsh's purposed messengers. the lil guy that sent the distateful message. whatever it was icr the exacts but. him. boy. the darker pink is like armor like a centipede. looks like ham to me
Tumblr media
iggy projection slug that had silly little small ears so i thought i'd include them
Tumblr media
i was having so much trouble with this design but @pinkavtomation actually helped me out because i was. Struggling so hard and i was streaming doing these designs in vc (for 9 hours straight... voids) 'n it sent this and honestly. yeah. funky vitiligo cat to me.
Tumblr media
colors r sorta based on vanilla and chocolate icecream???? thats what i was thinkin when i was lookin at it honestly. just a lil guy to me

ok but know I need you to Tell Me Things about the Zeldas. all of them. I am literally*bouncing*.
(I love how both your TP Link and Zelda have RBF. they have truly Had It)
HEHE sorry i held onto this ask until I had all the Zelda designs posted, and then I,,,forgot to do that lol.
some Bonus Zelda thoughts! some of this i've maybe said before idk:
ALTTP Zelda
her armor is more ceremonial than practical. While I didn't give this to every Queen Zelda, I liked the idea of the princess's pauldrons progressing to more plate armor in the queen's dress. That's also why I changed her color scheme to blue to differentiate from the princess' pink (exceptions for this being HW Zelda who wears red as queen, ST Zelda who still wears pink as queen and BOTW Zelda who wore blue as princess)
anyway. she's more of a scholar than a warrior but she still has killer aim with a bow
her pet project has been recovering, restoring, and filling in the gaps of the royal library and archive. Mage helps her out with this as he has a knack for stumbling upon forgotten ancient texts in his travels
A lot of ppl assume she's rather prim or austere but she's actually got a lot of whimsy and humor in her. It's why she and Mage get along so well :D
She lets Mage get away with a lot of shenanigans and keeps the royal guard from arresting his ass all the time
if mage is ur weird uncle she's like. ur cool aunt
Tetra
she's still sailing the seas with her crew!
she and Wake have had a bit of a falling out though, partially over disagreements about searching for New Hyrule, and have gone their separate ways for now. There's not any real animosity between them, just like,,,frustration. They'd still do anything for each other.
She's got 2 pistols and a cutlass and she knows how to use them
She could bench press Wake. easily.
She's brash and commands a lot of respect but she's also a lot of fun to be around. She's brutally honest and says what's on her mind.
I think she still feels a lot of confusion and frustration about the revelations about her lineage and the role King Daphnes seemed to force on her because of it. She doesn't want much to do with what the divine. She values the freedom sailing on the sea gives her.
TP Zelda
she's. so tired. a lot of the responsibility of rebuilding the kingdom has fallen squarely on her shoulders. She's holding shit together by a thread but by god is she holding it together.
Looks pretty cold and unapproachable but she has a kind heart. She cares deeply for the people of her kingdom. She would sacrifice a lot for them and already has.
Never relaxes. Works like 24/7. get this girl a hobby
Midzel canon. Midna also had a thing with Link but it wasn't a polycule more of a this is my girlfriend Midna and this is Midna's boyfriend Link kind of a situation. Anyway she misses Midna.
Wolf and Zelda are like. coworkers. They haven't really gotten any closer in the aftermath of everything. Wolf wants nothing to do with playing the role of the hero in a political sense like Zelda keeps asking him to. I don't think Zelda necessarily blames him for escaping that responsibility, but she Is frustrated she doesn't have that luxury.
MC Zelda
a little cutie!! very bubbly and extroverted and curious about the world. She spends a lot of time outside of the castle running around with Mini. The King is so glad she's safe after everything he still just lets her do whatever she wants lol
She used to be the one dragging Mini into shenanigans all the time but he's gained a lot of confidence over his quest and is less timid now. now they are equally engaging in shenanigans
Hangs out with Malon too!! The three of them are besties
I like to think she can also still see the minish even if she can't shrink down to their size. she thinks they're so cute. Maybe mini gives her a jabbernut so she can speak to them too :-)
She helps Mini build his fucked up little trash robots. She also pretties them up with paint
scolded by castle staff frequently for getting grass stains and dirt on her nice clothes lol. She probably isn't usually running around in her full princess garb though.
Like Mini, has mostly refused to process most of what happened to her and is just trying to enjoy life.
Prince Zel
I went back and forth about whether or not I wanted to go with naming him Sheik or not. I decided against it since this is the version of him that never had to become Sheik. He keeps Zelda as a legacy name and shortens it to Zel most of the time.
Pretty lonely in the castle without many friends his age. He desperately wants to be better friends with Mask but is mostly rebuffed.
Even though he doesn't have to become Sheik in this timeline, I think he has begun training with Impa. Just under a lot less duress
Still occasionally has prophetic visions but has become somewhat hesitant about sharing them. I think he understands a little more of what went on in other timelines than he lets on, but he doesn't know or put together all of it.
Often described as odd or intense or standoffish by ppl who meet him but he can be really chatty and lively under the right circumstances
HW Zelda
Her armor is also mostly ceremonial, even though she's definitely more of a warrior queen. She and War are both dressed to project 'peace time' and 'prosperity'. She has other sets of armor that are more suited for combat.
She and War are a lot alike, calculating and cunning, which is why they understand each other. It's also why they're often at each other's throats. They're not really above backstabbing each other, though has Queen she has a lot more leverage.
She's not exactly warm or particularly kind, but she does care about the safety of the Kingdom.
Also never relaxes and works like 24/7
Constantly dealing with a tense, power-hungry and antagonistic court looking to undermine her authority. She has her own private ambitions she's working towards.
ALBW Zelda
She's a really charming and fun person! very down to earth as Queen and a lot more willing to eschew tradition.
She comes across as carefree but she's been ruling Hyrule by herself since she was young and has been subject to a lot of pressure. She had to grow up pretty fast and is wiser than she seems at first glance. She has her court and the people's respect.
She and Mirror share an interest in fashion and the arts. They're,,, they're both theatre kids.
I don't have a lot of other headcanons abt her yet sorry but. i love her
ST Zelda
Has been crowned Queen at the ripe old age of 16 because the last time they appointed a chancellor he turned out to be a demon who stole her body. so
She does not feel ready to be Queen at all but she's doing her best. She's determined not to let anybody push her around again.
She's taken an interest in learning how to fight after the events of spirit tracks. She never wants to feel as helpless as she did then, trapped as a ghost outside her body. Also she really enjoyed hitting things with a giant sword in her big phantom armor. She's become a much better swordsman than Spirit ever was lol
She specifically requested her own suit of armor to mimic the phantom armor
she's pretty protective of Spirit
BOTW Zelda
I think she was conscious for all 103 of those years fighting ganon, even if it seems somewhat blurry and surreal to her now. She remembers it in fits and bursts. She often feels disconnected from her body.
She has no interest in reviving the monarchy or ruling over Hyrule again. However she does have an interest in rebuilding Hylian towns and helping all of Hyrule recover. She still feels like it's her responsibility, not because of her role as princess, but because of what she perceives as her own failure to avert tragedy.
she doesn't just blame herself though- she blames the gods and her father too.
Right now though she's mostly taking a break to get her bearings and recover from 103 years of endless fighting. She and Slate travelled around Hyrule for a while at first, and now she's settled in Hateno trying to figure out how to be normal again. Some rebuilding efforts have already started spearheaded by Hudson and she helps out with those.
SKSW Zelda
honestly not even she is sure what parts of her are herself and what parts are hylia. it's as disconcerting for her as it is for Loft. She's both frustrated that he looks at her differently now and understands completely why he does. She still wishes he wouldn't.
she remembers more about being the goddess than she necessarily lets on
she's really invested in the settlement on the surface and is basically its unofficial leader. she puts a lot of time and effort into making sure everything is going according to plan and that they have everything they need to keep living on the surface
she's protective of Loft and worries a lot for him. She blames herself for a lot of what he struggles with now and wants to make it better.
she's not the fun police though, she likes a death-defying loftwing stunt as much as the next person
she did become a knight after the events of skyward sword! They don't really wear the uniforms down on the surface much anymore though and it's become less of a formal order while everyone focuses on building and improving the village.
She's been working on her swordsmanship
I think she really loves music and singing

obc chess game breakdown (?)
well, welcome to the breakdown of the falsettos obc chess game that absolutely no one asked for but i think i'm onto something !!
ALSO, i know nothing about chess so if nothing makes sense that's why :-)
SO !! a little fact that is far from my interpretation is that chess is used for many things in the musical like a metaphor for love, another metaphor but for Marvin and Whizzer's relationship, normal chess, and so on but for now i'll be focusing mostly on it being normal chess and a bit on Marvin and Whizzer's relationship so bare with me because this is going to be chaotic
even though it's technically the same musical, the obc and the 2016 revival are two completely different things, and a very good way to compare them is the chess game
(and in case anyone actually reads this, none of this means that one version is better than the other, i just want to point out the differences because i have free will and too much free time, i adore both versions, this is just me infodumping)
first, the revival
for the 2016 version, (specifically for the chess game) they lean a bit more on the looks of it, sort of trying to match the same minimalistic vibe that the cube gives (shoutout to the Rockwell Group because i adore their stage design but moving on...)
for instance, they simplify the actual game to more of a choreography:
Whizzer begins with the white, holding the king but not actually moving anything, and after Marvin insists he moves the pawn in h2 to h4
Marvin mirrors his move with his own pawn, moving h7 to h5
Tumblr media Tumblr media
after that, Whizzer takes the queen and leaves it in the middle of the board, not really playing anymore, and after that they just move everything around, Whizzer takes Marvin's king and the "game" is over
Tumblr media
OH but for the obc... that's when stuff gets a bit more interesting, because they're actually playing
this time Marvin begins with the white pieces and by the time they begin to sing he already moved the pawn in e2 to e4
Whizzer responds by tidying his side of the board for a little while, before being pressured by Marvin to move, so he moves the horse from b8 to c6
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whizzer doesn't seem to pleased with his move, so they re-start
he flips the board so now he has the white pieces and it's his turn to begin
Marvin tells him exactly what to do, and he moves the same pawn Marvin moved as HIS first move
Tumblr media
Marvin responds by moving the pawn directly in front of that one (e7 to e5)
the next move is Marvin telling Whizzer to move the bishop on f1 to c4
after that they just move random pieces and whizzer "wins"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so, i was thinking, and the 3 moves they actually make can be found in a very basic strategy called "scholar's mate", being, according to google, one of the first checkmates people learn when playing chess
so, why do I think this justifies my rant?
well, for many things, but for my and everyone else's sake i'll just say 2 of them
1. the fact that Marvin was using this strategy and recycled it for Whizzer when they changed the board, for me, represents that part of Marvin that swears he's smarter than he actually is-
-because if he was as smart as he thinks, why would he be using such a basic strategy? and why was he instructing Whizzer... to win?
because the way he is directing the game would mean that, eventually, Whizzer would win even if they hadn't given up
but also, the fact that Marvin kept directing the white pieces like he would win by doing that makes sense
the obc makes a clear comparison with marvin and the white pieces (specially the king) more than once
Marvin is all about control, power, being "the man" in his relationships, that's represented with the white pieces, with him making his first move before the song has even started
so when Whizzer flips the board, takes control, doesn't allow himself to be controlled by Marvin, he doesn't know what to do
he keeps playing like he normally would, keeps controlling, not realizing that this will end better for Whizzer than him
but that said, moving on to thing 2
2. their relationship during the first act was always destined to fail, and the way i see it, it's marvin's fault
we already established that Whizzer would win anyway, either because Marvin (initially) agreed to let him win or because of the strategy they were following, so that said, Marvin would've been pissed anyway
if he controls Whizzer but it turns out better for him then it's Whizzer's fault, but if Whizzer decides to take action and not let himself be controlled by Marvin, then it's also Whizzer's fault
it was destined to end they way it did, it doesn't matter what Whizzer did, Marvin would've never been happy, and if Marvin isn’t happy, no one else can be
SO WE REACHED THE END !!
thank you to anyone who read this absolute shitshow
i had this idea because i’m doing a project about this so it’s been floating around my brain for a little while
Tumblr media
damn that was long

Okay, my voice designs are complete! I am about to ramble about them.
Some general comments before getting into each individual one; I'm terribly inexperienced at drawing creatures, so while I adore how some artists are making them different birds and I would've loved for them to have actual beaks, I care too much about quality to do that to myself. So I just gave them pointy noses. Don't question the ears. At first I was just going to make them all have different outfits that could be worn by any gender or shape of person, because anyone can play the game, but that got in the way of other ideas I had. So they all have different styles/proportions to make them stand out. At first they had different feather bits, but then I realized how much I liked the cannon Long Quiet's little head bits that look like cat ears, which are already super expressive. So I went with that.
Tumblr media
Going in rainbow order, first we have Voice of the Paranoid!
I'm pretty sure his was the first of the group I designed, or at least, he's gone through the least revisions. I went full bug-eyed panic obviously. The eyes also make squinting in suspicion very obvious. While I like the designs that include the vital organs he keeps running, he serves a more general role in other routes. The outfit was the hardest to figure out, but I landed on the baseball tee because it was a bit more distinct, not too childish, but still very casual. Some symbolism I realized later is that you get to the Nightmare route by making choices that are uncomfortably in the middle, and that's reflected by Paranoid's shirt and pant sleeves stopping in the middle of the arm, right in the joint.
Tumblr media
Voice of the Skeptic.
This one was the hardest for me. I don't know him too well, and he doesn't have a specific action or attitude to play into. I finally got an idea when I decided against using realistic proportions for a different voice, that Skeptic was perfect for realism, he's all about facts and reality. The glasses came pretty quick, and I decided on the beard because he needs something to stroke in contemplation. He almost had a pipe as well, but I decided against it. The outfit was difficult again, I looked up a lot of references to scholars and various sherlock interpretations, and finally decided on a dark academia style turtleneck and the long coat, which was everywhere in my searches. If you could see both of the little head thingies the other one would be sideways kind of like a quirk eyebrow.
Tumblr media
Voice of the Contrarian.
While I adore the jester parallels so many others have made, I wanted to focus on the immature side of him. So he's a little brat with a backwards baseball cap because he's rebellious. I wanted to make sure to incorporate the sympathetic side that shows up later in Stranger.
Tumblr media
Voice of the Opportunist.
He's honestly one of my favorite voices, and I think part of that is how he's good with people and social interaction, so I leaned into that side by going for a sleezy business man aesthetic. He also mentions that he likes to travel, so I gave him that excellent shirt. He's on the business casual side because you can't be serious all the time, you need to relate to the people. He doesn't know what the earpiece is for, it's just there.
Tumblr media
Voice of the Hero.
Everyone's favorite boy! My main goal with the body type was friend shaped. Cause he's your bud. Went with the classic Link tunic because it's so incredibly hero coded, and the half cape to keep it fresh and friendly. I liked that another design gave him pauldrons to convey an upside down triangle shape, which represents intelligence and change, which I thought fit him very well. But fighting isn't really his thing, so I went with only one, putting the design off balance in a way I really liked. The head thingies came like first try, he's definitely swoopy and dynamic.
Tumblr media
Voice of the Hunted.
This one sucked to design because as I said previously, I'm bad at animalistic designs and shapes. My first thought was an Australian Bear Grylls type survivalist with realistic proportions, but it wasn't quite working and I loved everyone else's feral creatures. So I tried. The hair thingies came to me at random, and I like that they look like deer antlers. By this point I had everyone else down and none of them had a top heavy face shape so I tried that for Hunted and I liked how it turned out. I learned in my failed creature designs that a wide neck was important, so I did that. I kept the shark tooth necklace for flare.
Tumblr media
Voice of the Cheated.
I got very tall vibes from him for some reason. Maybe because it helps contrast his squinty eyes. For his outfit I went with a "someone who went broke at the casino" vibe. It felt right for everything to be mismatched, uneven, and messy. He's also the only one I gave a tired line.
Tumblr media
Voice of the Stubborn.
Of course he had to be buff, also wide things are sturdy. The tank top was the best shirt to show off those muscles, and I feel like the basketball shorts were a necessity for this stereotype. Thick eyebrows because angry. His head thingies are tiny and adorable mostly because I found it a funny contrast. The blue was honestly a bit of an afterthought, I'd already given red to Paranoid, and the orangy colors felt too weird for him. I think the blue works though.
Tumblr media
Voice of the Broken.
He's small. I had to go for a hoodie because it's gloomy and also to give cult vibes. The face needed to be big in order for those watery eyes to be prominent, and I felt keeping it in shadow was the easiest way to keep it simple. I had a lot of crazy ideas about unmatched puzzle pieces and wobbly towers that I'm incapable of executing, but I needed some sort of literal expression, so there's that big scar. The little line on the top is supposed to evoke a puppet whose string has been cut. I imagine that the others drag him around by it if they get frustrated.
Tumblr media
Voice of the Cold.
It was a bit difficult to figure out his design until I realized that he's the type to do hard drugs if given the opportunity to. Then things clicked. And once I made the connection of black lipstick, everything came together. The head thingies are supposed to look like dreadlocks.
Tumblr media
Voice of the Smitten.
I struggled so hard with this. I can not draw handsome people, but I can't have Smitty looking like a dork. The swoopy head thingies were easy enough, but most of the rest didn't look right, or was literally just Roman from Sanders sides. But I got in a chin, and decided to go for the heart body shape and I think it turned out well in the end. I was even able to keep the shirt sleeves and bowtie that I had discarded earlier for being too dorky.

Kaveh x Reader ✦ Oh my God! Roommates! ✦ VIII: Crystalfly
Kaveh wasn’t acting like his usual self. He seemed less and less inclined to work on any of his projects to the point where he would hardly pay any mind to the mess of papers on his desk. Any derogatory comments made by Alhaitham were quickly brushed off with either a brief glance or completely ignored altogether.
You were hoping for Kaveh to recover rather quickly, as you didn’t even take a full week to recharge yourself. Unfortunately, he only seemed to be getting worse and worse. Initially, he seemed a bit more spaced-out than usual, and every so often he would take a shot at sketching. However, he hardly made any progress, and so he eventually stopped altogether.
At this point in time, you have known him for quite a few weeks, and it was long enough to tell that something has gone awry with his behavior.
It was almost unsettling to not hear constant bickering between your teacher and roommate. Sometimes, it would be entertaining, until it spiraled into an all-out face off of words. Then, you’d usually leave them to argue it out like two conflicting research papers. Their unique personalities truly shone through when defending what they believed in, and it was next to impossible to find any reason to disagree with such convincing arguments.
But now, Kaveh practically let Alhaitham walk all over him like a rug.
Any mentioning of his detached mood would cause an instant deflection of the issue. He would argue that it was simply exhaustion, or that he had more pressing matters weighing him down.
Alhaitham dared not intrude on your time alone during the mornings any more. He immediately took his food elsewhere, leaving you and Kaveh with the perfect time to strike up a conversation. However, he strangely did not utilize the lack of Alhaitham's presence to discuss topics that would otherwise be shut down by the enigmatic scholar.
You tried to spark a bit of conversation with Kaveh time and again. Short and sweet conversation starters resulted in little, if any, response.
“How are you this morning?” you would ask.
“Fine,” he would say,
“Sleep well?” you’d try to ask.
“I guess,” he often responded with.
Since that didn’t work, you resorted to more thought provoking questions.
“So, what are your thoughts on the role that an artist's mood plays in the designing of exterior adornments?” you tried, perhaps being a bit too direct in regards to the problem at hand.
“It’s too early for this,” he responded with.
Wouldn’t that be a question that he would absolutely leap at the opportunity to answer?
Something wasn’t right, and you were going to get to the bottom of it.
If you wanted to figure out what was upsetting Kaveh, then the timing of the question would be vital in order to not distress him. Alhaitham was perhaps the greatest nuisance here, so perhaps asking at a time when he was asleep would be best. He wasn’t a night owl like Kaveh, anyways.
The problem with that idea was that Kaveh has been going to bed quite early compared to usual. Hell, there were days when you would turn in for the night and he was already asleep. Also, was bringing up a potentially upsetting topic while sharing a bed really a good idea? Quarrels between roommates was a problem that you wanted to avoid, especially considering how misbehaving and picking fights could end with you being thrown out of house for improper behavior.
Or...you know...completely eradicating any chance of you getting with Kaveh altogether. You had your priorities straight, however. Hopefully.
One night, you finally took a chance and confront him about his drastic change in attitude. You were unsure of if Alhaitham was still roaming the halls, but there was no putting it off any longer.
Kaveh was sitting on his bed and staring at his desk, debating if he should take a shot at working on his projects or if he should simply call it a night. You knew that it would eventually end with him giving up either way, so you decided that it would be best to get it over with.
“Kaveh?” you asked, causing him to shift his attention to you.
“Hm?”
“You seem awfully out of it lately. Now it’s my turn to seriously ask; is something bothering you?”
His eyes broke contact with yours, looking off to the side. His face began to turn ever so slightly red, as if he was humiliated to admit what was bothering him. His avoidant gestures made you want to think that perhaps he...
No, it was impossible. Relationships never work out like that. What is this, some kind of romance novel geared to those yearning for love?
“Like I’ve told you before...it is but a slump,” he said.
“Yet you supposedly work through your slumps. I have hardly seen a trace of working from you. What’s really on your mind?”
You didn’t want to let Kaveh get away with leaving his troubles invisible to you. He showed so much care towards you, between willingly allowing you to share a comfortable bed with him to standing up for you when he felt that Alhaitham was truly being too harsh.
It was only fair that you tried to care for him as well.
“There’s not very much that you would be able to do about it,” he admitted. “It’s something that I am to work through on my own.”
“What is it?” you asked with the curiosity killing you. “What is upsetting you this badly?”
Kaveh looked at you for a moment, appearing to be on the brink of tears, then looked away once more.
“If you don’t tell me, then I can’t help you. Sure, I have my fair share of responsibilities to deal with, but I have the time to lend a hand to a close friend of mine.
“I shall speak to you when I feel as if I’m ready,” he said. “For now, I ask that you allow for me to think through this myself.”
“I suppose I have no choice but to respect your wishes,” you said. “Do let me know if there’s anything that I can do to help, though.”
“I shall. Thank you, for at least taking the time to check on me. Not even Alhaitham has, and I believe he is too busy enjoying the bliss of beating my arguments into submission.”
“And you’re just going to let him win like that?”
“It’s not that simple. Not at all.”
It mustn’t be very simple if he was willing to let a rivalry go that fast.
Kaveh did eventually give up hopelessly gazing at his desk for the night. By the time you returned to check on him, he seemed to be asleep. You slid under the covers yourself, but instead of immediately falling asleep, you laid on your back and stared blankly at the ceiling.
There had to be some way to break him out of his slow decent into inevitable misery. It would be wrong to force the truth out of him, and arguably worse to pry into his life. It would just have to come naturally, though, who knows when that will be.
Kaveh can’t stay like this forever. Not when you have something to confess to him.
Bringing that up while he’s stuck in his current state of mind would probably not go over well.
Regardless of what was wrong, you couldn’t help but feel bad for the man. You turned your head slightly to see that he was indeed asleep, as you can hear his gentle snores through the thoughts that muddled your brain.
A little stroke of his hair wouldn’t hurt, right? After all, it doesn’t nearly compare to the weeks he has spent cuddling you practically every night.
You gently stroked his hair, moving your hand down his cheek and intertwining the ends of the strands through your fingers. Despite being a little tangled from laying down, it had to be one of the softest feelings you’ve ever experienced. You couldn’t help yourself but do it again, yet this time, Kaveh gently nudged his head into your hand.
He seemed to be soothed by your actions, but you decided to stop before it started to feel...weird.
You rested the back of your head on the pillow once more and closed your eyes, still thinking of the brief moment of contact you two shared. It didn’t take long for you to fall asleep, though the thoughts of Kaveh filling your mind made you forget that you were even attempting to in the first place.
In the middle of the night, a voiced muttered your name. You begrudgingly opened your eyes, as you were in a rather light state of sleep. You turned your head in the direction of the voice, which wasn’t going to do you much good in the dark. As you slowly came to, you realized that Kaveh's arm was draped across you, and he was weighing you down from your left side. You felt his body gently shift, as if he had just woken up against his will.
"Huh…?" you responded with, before immediately regretting your choice to respond.
If he wakes up, then it would be quite the pleasant realization for him knowing that you were aware of his subconscious snuggling all along.

The Doctor Who FFXIV Glamour Collection - Masterpost + Commentary
Alright, here it is. I’ve teased it, I’ve talked about it, and now you’re getting it: the Doctor Who glamour collection. In case you didn’t know, two of my most persistent hyperfixations are Doctor Who and Final Fantasy XIV. Heck, I even wrote a crossover between them. Then, I made a meme post assigning a job (in-game class) to each Doctor. Which of course, planted an idea in my head: why not make an outfit for each of those jobs I assigned, each based on the corresponding Doctor? And thus the Doctor Who glamour collection was born.
Note that while the outfit is based on the respective Doctor, changing your character’s design/race/gender (beyond switching haircuts and minor stuff) costs real-life money, so you’re stuck with my Au Ra gal as the model. I did make an effort to at least have a matching hair color, though. (With occasional highlights for spice.)
I’ve made each outfit its own post (mainly because tumblr image cap), and will be linking them from here, the “masterpost” (which will actually come out last.)
First Doctor - Scholar
Second Doctor - Bard
Third Doctor - Monk
Fourth Doctor - Dancer
Fifth Doctor - Paladin
Sixth Doctor - Red Mage
Seventh Doctor - Black Mage
Eighth Doctor - Dragoon
War Doctor - Dark Knight
Ninth Doctor - Astrologian
Tenth Doctor - Gunbreaker
Eleventh Doctor - White Mage
Twelfth Doctor - Sage
Thirteenth Doctor - Summoner
If you just want to see the pretty pictures, click on those links! Everything below here will just be explanations and details.
A lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into acquiring the gear for each set, leveling each job to a high enough level to use said gear (can’t glamour a higher level gear’s appearance onto a lower level gear), and of course, taking the pictures. Taking the pictures was difficult for several reasons, but the major lynchpin was the fact that I used external tools (aka mods, which are kind of a no-no) to give an era-appropriate look for some of the shots of each Doctor. Hopefully it comes off well!
Oh, and if you’re curious: the most expensive single gear pieces were War and 9’s chest pieces. Damn modern-looking gear is always pricey! I dropped a lot of money at the Aesthetician to change haircuts, too.
The specific setup for the eras was as followed:
1st/2nd: Monochrome, RetroCRT, Film Grain, sometimes Cathode
3rd/4th: VHS_RA (chroma blur at 20), Colourfulness, LumaSharpen, Radiant GI
5th/6th/7th: VHA_RA (chroma blur at 10) Colourfulness, LumaSharpen, Radiant GI, Film Grain, sometimes Cathode
War: LumaSharpen, Colourfulness, Tint (Sepia)
8/Nu Who: LumaSharpen, Colourfulness, Radiant GI, and occasionally HexLensFlare
The gear and dye used for each glam will be listed in its corresponding post.
If people are interested, I might consider doing glams and photo shoots for the Fugitive, Fourteenth, Fifteenth, and/or any other extended universe Doctors! I also have some ideas for some companions that I might use.
Here’s some extended reasoning on the job choices for each Doctor, including both lore and in-game mechanics:
First Doctor as Scholar: Scholar is a healer, and in fact one of the first healer jobs in FFXIV, so I figured it would make sense to give the first Doctor a job that closely aligned with the fact that they’re, y’know, the Doctor. But, with regards to gameplay, Scholar’s kit is considered by many to be a little janky. So, perfect, for the wobbliest-set days of the First Doctor!
Second Doctor as Bard: Bard is very much a support class, which keeps with the theme of sticking close to Doctor-y jobs early on. Otherwise: yeah, it’s because of the recorder. Also, the Second Doctor is a bit more trickster-y, and Bard is a job that involves planning ahead and also keeping well on top of all your cooldowns, which I think Two would be able to pull off!
Third Doctor as Monk: It’s because of the Venusian Aikido. And all the spirituality in his era, as well, but mainly the Aikido. Monk is considered to be one of the more difficult jobs to play, to the point of your computer’s frame rate factoring into extreme high-end play, but if any Doctor could manage that, it would be the Third.
Fourth Doctor as Dancer: I will freely admit this is one of the more arbitrary choices. Overall, I think the Dancer job’s vibes and flow fit well with Four’s Bohemian spirit and flowing scarves.
Fifth Doctor as Paladin: Paladin is seen as kind of the most vanilla job in the game with the most straightforward flavoring, which I thought fit Five’s vibes. Paladins are the typical sword-and-board job, but I chose to not display the shield, to better evoke a cricket bat. And, as Paladin’s name implies, it has better party defense buffs than, say, Dark Knight, which does fit a Doctor with as crowded a TARDIS as the Fifth.
Sixth Doctor as Red Mage: Totally not biased here, Red Mage is one of my two mains, but regardless of that it’s a perfect fit for Sixie. Red Mage is a damaging caster job, but is actually consistently the weakest caster in exchange for great utility, including the best resurrection spell in the game. A flashy mage with a support focus is perfect for our loud technicolor shouty man with a heart of gold! Red Mage’s Limit Break (big super move) is kind of infamous for being so bright that for the few seconds when it’s going off, it’s difficult to see what’s going on in the fight, sometimes leading to deaths… which is very funny and fitting.
Seventh Doctor as Black Mage: Probably the easiest and most obvious job choice on this entire list, Black Mage is considered a difficult job that takes a lot of time to master, and often requires you to plan out your movements and attacks in advance to react to the mechanics of the fight. (In some of the most difficult fights in the game, Black Mages will often plan out every button they push for the first several minutes in order to maximize the effectiveness they’re getting out of every resource in their kit.) This makes Black Mage the no-brainer choice for our favorite little master manipulator. (Alas, no umbrella staff in FFXIV… yet.)
Eighth Doctor as Dragoon: I originally had Eight as a Reaper, but in trying to take the pictures, the vibes just didn’t match. So I pivoted him to the job that shares Reaper’s gear: Dragoon. Gonna be honest, this one was just vaguely gothic, and also what are vortisaurs if not time vortex dragons?
War Doctor as Dark Knight: Dark Knights have the aesthetic of a brooding edgelord, but lore-wise, they gain their power from their desire to protect the innocent and punish the wicked: a desire born from love. Fitting for a vilified Doctor who only ever wanted to do what was right…
Ninth Doctor as Astrologian: Astrologians use magical power channeled from distant stars to cast time magic, predict the future, and heal the wounded. Fitting for basically any Doctor, but especially so for the one who delivers the line about feeling the turn of the Earth. Furthermore, Astrologians deal the least damage of any job in the game: perfect for the most pacifistic and peace-seeking Doctor of them all.
Tenth Doctor as Gunbreaker: Here’s a fun one, a gun “breaker” for the “Man Who Never Would [Fire A Gun]”. What weapon does a Gunbreaker use? Oh yeah, a Gunblade. More like “The Man Who Totally Would And In Fact Has.” I think this juxtaposition highlights the Tenth Doctor’s emotional, even vengeful nature… and to add another layer: while Gunbreaker is a flashy, high-damage job, it is, at the end of the day, a Defender job. Calling back to Five’s Paladin, perhaps? (Also, Gunbreakers wear long coats, and the Tenth Doctor wears long coats.)
Eleventh Doctor as White Mage: White Mage is my other main, so I mean it with love when I say White Mages are the epitome of healers with a god complex, who mainly only keep the party alive to feel that sweet sweet satisfaction of saving peoples’ lives… and also to charge up their super big attack that can only be charged by healing. Meant to be a bit evocative of Eleven as the epitome of the Lonely God idea. Also, White Mage is a dead easy job to play, that even Eleven’s hyperactive brain could handle.
Twelfth Doctor as Sage: Okay, now we’re getting into the juicy stuff. Sage is the other shield healer in the game, the first being Scholar. But Sage is newer, flashier, more anime, and smoother to play. Are you thinking Twice Upon A Time yet? Sages, flavor-wise, are the epitome of combat medics… just as the Twelfth Doctor is the one to make the title of “Doctor of War” his own. Time is a flat circle! Thirteenth Doctor as Summoner: Also tying in with the First Doctor, Summoner and Scholar share an experience pool: so long as you have both unlocked, leveling one also levels the other. But while Scholar is a healer, Summoner is a (damage-dealing) caster that focuses on summoning entities to help you out. As the Thirteenth Doctor was born of the Twelfth Doctor’s resolution to his character arc- and with a chance meeting with the First- Thirteen being a Summoner would show how she carries that legacy but also has a fresh start with some fun new friends. (Also, Summoner is the easiest job in the game, and while Thirteen isn’t the most ADHD Doctor, she’s definitely up there.)

[ficlet] the pursuit of knowledge
Was doing some writing practice with a few lines of dialogue yesterday, but it turned out a bit longer than a few lines? Lol. Anyway, here's a short comedic excerpt with Kavetham banter. Rating: Mature for suggestive language. Edited on 25/10/2023: Added a few extra lines, so I'm just leaving it as a short standalone one-shot (instead of a supposed WIP to something longer). Can also be read on AO3.
※※※ “In the pursuit of knowledge,” he had postulated impassively then, by way of conversation. As though they were merely discussing the weather—“Recent changes in Teyvat's overall climate do not simply lead to extreme rising temperatures and increased sandstorms in the Sumerian deserts; the extent of such precipitation pattern change also amplifies the dry seasons in the rainforests, causing further stress upon its population”—and not— “The therapeutic and health benefits of prosta—stimula—Tch. You… Seriously??” To which Kaveh’s brow only quirks up by a fraction in incredulity, before he settles with a reproving glare. Al-Haitham is neither dense nor an unintelligent man. He had fully expected outright rejection and disgust from his roommate—reasonable, justified even, at times—so it’s almost, almost a surprise when there’s a sudden glint in Kaveh’s eyes, his glare quickly morphing into something close to smugness, to daring. Hm. An intriguing development. “Fine, I’ll play along with your little game.” Kaveh scoffs loftily with an imperious wave of his hand. “Still, I have to ask… Well, I don’t ever want to imagine the kind of demented depravity lurking in that oversized, wrinkled brain of yours, but what’s in it for me if I agree to assist with this… experiment?” “Pleasure, obviously. Derived from the sheer fulfilment of base carnal desires, not to mention your own indulgences,” Al-Haitham says placidly with unabashed bluntness, revelling in silent amusement at the flush of crimson that flits over Kaveh’s expression and up to the tips of his ears. “Also, you’d finally be putting your irreverent junior firmly in place,” he adds, tone almost coy now and light with barely concealed mirth. “Surely even you wouldn’t pass up on such a rare chance, considering the pride and prestige you so often place on seniority.” He knows Kaveh doesn’t miss it—the way the left corner of Al-Haitham’s mouth twitches into a near-imperceptible curve behind the pages of his book even as he holds Kaveh’s gaze, bright like smouldering embers from a hearth. Kaveh clears his throat, Adam’s apple bobbing visibly as he composes himself. He taps his fingers against his chin; considers the proposition with the same air of pensiveness and focus he dons when revising his design drafts late into the night. Then, he reaches forward abruptly, snatching the book from Al-Haitham’s hands, and— “Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” Kaveh says with a hint of teeth just as Al-Haitham feels callous fingers tracing over the jewelled piercing in his chest—right before Kaveh pushes him back down roughly against the patterned sheets of the divan. “Do your worst, Senior,” Al-Haitham counters, defiant. Only to inhale sharply when Kaveh’s nails find their mark against a sliver of bare skin, his heated touch dipping further below Al-Haitham’s navel and over the slope of his hips. “Such an impertinent junior you are,” Kaveh retorts, curling his fingers in just so that has Al-Haitham shuddering bodily and arching against him once more. “And please, I'm a perfectionist. You’ll be begging for this experiment to end in no time.” “Getting off on trial and error, I see. Truly the relentless spirit of a distinguished scholar indeed.” Al-Haitham lets out an amused huff then, matching Kaveh’s dangerous grin with a minute, knowing smile of his own. Just as planned.  —End—

Headcanon: jobs!!
This post talks about human jobs the nationpeoples have. Anyway, I think the nations aren’t always diplomats or politicians, even tho they could indeed take on some tasks along those lines. In general tho the nationpeoples are linked to the state/work for the state so it’s quite rare to find them working corporate jobs or opening businesses. IF they do, then ultimately these corporations have the state as their clients. Basically everything they do typically goes to the state fast.
Russia:
He has a military job (lieutenant general) with medical training. He’s been in the military for the longest time and would love some change + a bit of distance from the state, but the state doesn’t really allow him to (there are indeed some nations with a fate like that). At the same time, he’s not much suited for other things so he keeps returning to the same path? Yeah. He does have hobbies tho, for example he loves studying math and physics and would often sneak into good universities to learn under esteemed lecturers. They love him because he’s such a curious and attentive student but at the same time he’s not much cut out to do the works needed to obtain a degree, so he doesn’t get those. However he’s better than many academics in the field simply because he’s much older than them and has been studying for a hella long time (he’s also naturally gifted in these).
This is stereotypical of him, but yes he’s good at hacking. Often trolls people with his capabilities, which is at times harmless but sometimes he does some unhinged shit which causes legit headaches. Sometimes he uses his abilities to hack into America’s house and wreck shit with his computerized home appliances. Nothing harmful of course, and America also takes it all in fun strides and would call Russia back like “Hey you got lucky this time!! Awesome what you did!!” (They’re both kids ok).
Mongolia:
I mentioned his job before on another post some time ago, but basically he’s a nomad and he works with nomads, not sorry to be predictable lol. He travels all over the country to make sure the nomads live well, so basically some kind of an overseer and mediator. He also works in the conservation side of national parks. His jobs demand him to be out on his feet almost all the time and he’s too happy for it to want other jobs, lol. He only spends maybe a few months a year in the city.
During communist era he used to be in the military and became a general/lt. general (highest rank was marshal, right after army general). As a rule, the nationpeoples who were under Soviet Union + satellite states were all in the military. Even without that tho Mongolia has been in the military for the longest time since Empire era (in general medieval nomads doubled as armies), and these days he’s still called a lot to advise. He still trains a lot and a bulk of that is military level trainings.
Kazakhstan:
He’s a tech engineer for energy field hired by the state. Also does plenty programming but he does best with what he can work with his own hands, and any programming he does is ultimately linked to his main job. He often tinkers with techs at home as sources of inspiration.
(Yes, he’s Rich)
During communist era he was a lieutenant + military engineer. Was, and still is, an excellent sniper.
Uzbekistan:
Is a scholar in Central Asian history/related studies. He has deep interest in everything Central Asian and often does research under state sponsorship. As he’s also a student under sufi masters, his interests also include religion and/or theology.
His side job is gardening. He’s also a resident cook for people around him as he’s really great at it.
Turkey:
He works as a state advisor but his side job is designing bespoke attire for men and women alike. He works with the best quality garments made in his country and his customers are all high-end ones. His hobbies include sewing, knitting and dressing people up — which in fact he’s practiced since Seljuk era, where slave girls became stunning consorts in his hands. He loves beautiful people, but he’s very much on board with spoiling them so they could rise up to his standards.

Concept Art
Alright, regarding character designs.
I've only got one I'm really proud of and it's of Maria.
Tumblr media
(I've since changed the color of her wings and halo to orange to be less contrasty but I'm too lazy to open the original project to edit it accordingly. Also, I know about the bit of skin i missed on her but shhh)
So what's her deal? Why's she look like this? Mostly because I think she looks good. Also, I think it reflects her status as a scholar and magician quite well. I'm honestly quite proud of the colors I've chosen, but if I'm being honest, I might adjust it some down the line. I honestly think my favorite feature of her design is the clawed gauntlets. I like to think she'd want to rep her old Celestial beasts the best she can.
Her role is as an enforcer of the Belmont family in Heaven, who are definitely under the Council in terms of the Heaven food chain. I imagine, as busy as the Council is, the Belmonts are sort of forced to deal with all matters related to the supernatural and ensuring order is maintained before the fall of mankind.
After the fall of mankind, the Belmonts were kinda... stuck??? Unsure of what to do, really. Maria would return to scholar duties in the archives in the meantime.
On the topic of handling supernatural occurrences, anyone remember when she and Richter kicked Dracula's ass together in Rondo of Blood/DXC? Yeah, they did it again when Dracula got stuck down in the Violence layer for the millionth time and decided to plot an uprising of his own. Maria would present the head of the vampire king upon her and Richter's victory and ensure Dracula's followers would have a permanent reminder of what happens to those who do not obey the rule of Heaven.
Basically, the Belmonts are all lapdogs for the Council just like Gabriel was pre-Act II's epilogue, Maria included.
OH NO FACE CONCEPT REVEAL (this was a WIP concept. I'm working on a more eldritch appearance for her)

im moody so let me talk about my characters and why i am rewriting them so much
SUPER LONG POST. I mean it.
some of you have been following me for quite a while, some of you are a bit newer to my blog, some of you might be seeing this and be thinking "who the fuck are you" and to answer that question - hi, im eyris and i have perma gw2 brainrot!
well that was not where i was going. where i was going was "some of you have seen what my characters have been through and that i quite often rewrite them"
so today i'd like to talk about that a little bit. why is it happening, for the start.
I guess the best answer would be that i am getting better ideas and i am getting better at articulating them. i am also growing as a person, which also changes how i view my characters and what i want to say with their story. and sometimes i feel like things are cringe because not many people like my stuff. in no way i mean to fish for likes, no, i am contempt with what im getting (most of the time). what i mean is that i still feel like this very small and cringy blog among so many great people who have much bigger following, better stories, better art, better...everything, really. i guess a part of me wishes to catch up to them, be more like them, even if that is...1. impossible and 2. probably very stupid in your eyes.
so there's that. now, let's go over some of my characters and how they've changed across the years.
EYRIS, the main-main, game-wise and story-wise changes.
Eyris was my very first character, initially she had no story. TBF when i started gw2 my english wasn't so good and i was very lost with the game's story. I mean, i thought the Elder Dragons were some big bad organisation! Some people called themselves Dragons, something like this. As I said - my English wasnt very good back than. TBF I was like....15, I think. Yeah. I also somehow convinced myself I had to keep Eyris as a sylvari because other 4 character slots were for other 4 races and i had to keep them free! But I loved playing Eyris! SO! I fucking. I fucking deleted Eyris and made her again. over. and over. and over. and over and over and over and over.
AND THEN I went to a theatre on a school trip and we watched a play and the very handsome actor played a teacher named Mister Ross. I was 16 at a time (I think), so of course I was like "I like that name" and... I deleted Eyris for the final time and remade her as Eyris Ross. I had no idea that sylvari, according to canon, had no surnames. So when the time came when I started designing more lore-compliant story for her, my initial idea was that she was in love with a human and thats how she got her surname but he "died or something" and thats why she was now traversing Orr. I remember writing a scene of Eyris entering a Pact tent with Trahearne conversing with other leaders and she went completely off because she was sent on a suicide mission to scout Arah before going after Zhaitan and only she came back. Yeah. That....was a time. Somewhere in that time I also realised I did not like Ross backstory but I didnt want to delete Eyris again, I grew super attached (also all thjat crafting was developed completely...) so I changed her name to...Eyris of the Night. Because she was a Nightbloom and because someone took "Eyris" and I was sad about it. Still am, tbh. Somewhere then also Anriin came to be. A Priory scholar, quite mean... and she was Eyris's girlfriend who killed her in HoT because Eyris was getting corrupted! So tragic! But I scratched that off because I didn't vibe with it. I think I still have sketches though from that time so if I find them I will post them. I was 19 at the time when Eyris/Anriin was a thing. Then the Soundless plot came in. And then...
I used to have a friend. A best friend, actually. We were a package deal. So of course we bound our stories together. Eyris was just someone who happened to be there. She wasn't the Commander or the Dragon's champion. She was Just Some Plant that happened to be at a place at a time and ended up befriending the Commander (that friend's OC). Then Tragic Backstory TM happened. Eyris was a Soundless who was taken by the Nightmare Court. She was saved by a group of mercenaries (Idk who hired them. don't think too much about it). The group consisted of a young charr gladium (love interest), asura twins (siblings figures) and a norn elder (father figure). there was also a Mean Human Girl TM who bullied her because ???? and there was a drama in the group and the Mean Girl then fucking lured them into a trap (the Undead are attacking!) and everyone fucking died! Eyris survived and Trahearne saved her from the risen. Ever since Eyris hated necromancy (death magic, connection to zhaitan, zhaitan killed her loved ones) and mesmers (the Mean Girl was a mesmer). Eyris tracked her for years and she brutally murdered her in the jungle during HoT (how did the Mean Girl end up in Maguuma in the first place???) but revenge didnt help, it only drew her closer to mordremoth. Also her dog died in HoT (Mordremoth corrupted it and she had to kill it)
And then PoF time. She went to the desert. Why? I don't know. She went there and befriended a wild jackal pack for reasons unknown until today. That's how she got her mount and friend, Aiari. A few years ago Eyris became a Dragon Champion because I wanted to get her to have more story involvement and significance. And some time later I scratched off the Mercenary Group and changed them into Just A Norn Dad plot.
Currently Eyris's story is actually in this google docs right here but recently I had a Big Think and realised that No, the Vigil would NOT be swayed! So... you can take a peek on how it looks for now. Big Thanks to my friend Awerzo who shared her idea of character timelines. I stole it. It helps.
I am pretty sure I forgot some plots that existed for some time hhh
MOVING ON. AIRELL. The second Main.
Remember that friend I mentioned in Eyris's story? Well, Airell was initially created with their Commander in mind as his love interest. It did not fly. OG Airell was a shallow fuckboy that flirted with everything that moved. Then I wanted to add trauma because that's what you do, so Nightmare Court Boyfriend!!! Yeah it... didn't fly.
Then there was "unrequited love for Trahearne" plot, and after HoT Airell shut down and left for the mountains. They were supposed to be alone in their grief and die alone. but my earlier mentioned friend asked if they could make a friend for Airell. I reluctantly agreed. And so, Ewyn Rhosyn came to be. Ewyn and Airell had such a great chemistry that even if me and my friend said "just friends", these two fictional chartacters decided to date. Honestly, one of my fondest memories. I still cannot recreate a similar chemistry that these two characters had and believe me, I TRIED SO HARD.
Anyway, before Ewyn... Airell's grief was accompanied by a wish to forget all the pain they had endured. They set off to find djinn as they heard that the djinn could grant wishes. In hopes they could wish for erasing some painful memories, they looked for them, at the same time growing ravenous. When Airell finally encountered a djinn and learned that djinn magic did not work the waythey hoped for, they succumbed to hunger and ate a poor guy. Airell realised they could satiate their hunger with magic and so they became the ravenous djinn eater. Yeah. No, scratch all that. As much as I liked the concept, as a creator I wanted Airell to be likable, and let's be honest. eating people is not really the way to go, is it? Yeah......soooo then i decided to make them suck magic out of people (without killing them). Djinn eater became Deldrimor's Banshee, then I changed the name to Deldrimor's Siren, since I really liked that scary Fear Not This Night version.
As my friend and I lost touch, I held onto Airell and Ewyn for some time and then ditched it for my own sanity. I really liked the name Thorns and Roses though so I made my own gay rose mender - Achilles Flameshaper, who after losing his healing abilities became a therapist on a remote island for people who needed refuge (Whale Tail Island, or as I like to call it - Therapy Island).
The idea was that after Airell reawakened in the heart of Maguuma after the events of HoT concluded and after they learned of Trahearne's unfortunate fate, they mourned and succumbed to the magic hunger and was looking for the source of that big magic signature (cough balthazar cough), in their vinetooth form (pic below) they met Achilles and Eyris heading to the Commander's wedding. Achilles was just giving her a ride. Achilles and Eyris fought the lost mordrem in order to secure the area. Airell gets hurt, detransforms, oh no it's airell! oh no what do we do! Achilles takes Airell to the Island because clearly Airell is both physically and mentally hurting. While that part remains canon for Airell until today, their big romance with Achilles did not bloom as I planned. but you know what started vibing with me? TRAMMANDER. Because I decided to make Airell the commander from PS until the start of HoT and then reassign the commander-ship to them somewhere in the middle of PoF (thanks Nia Furaha for holding the line from HoT to PoF!). And if Trammander is canon.... then we're back to Trahearne angst. and guys, I needed to rework that too, so...
I added the whole Trahearne resurrection (ritual goes wrong! not clickbait!) idea! I am still SOOO vibing with it pls ask me questions about this im vibrating!!!!!!!
The Ewyn plot in PoF/LWs4 is CRAZY and I would need a separate post for that but I dont have time for that. Instead, let me tell you a fun fact - Airell died 1.5 times. 1 - stabbed during HoT and put in a blighting pod, and 0.5 in LWs4 when they got swallowed by Kralk and everyone thought they died but then kralk threw them up (sorry Airell).
NIA FURAHA
Nia was fun. A nice human commander, initially she was supposed to take the role of a commander after me and my friend stopped talking, but with time i decided to pass that role in majority to Airell.
Initially, Nia had a backstory. Which accidentally came out racist, so I won't be talking much about it. What I can talk about comfortably are her vigil years.
OG Nia joined the Vigil to protect people. She became a commander through recommendation and battle prowess. She was proud to be the commander, the hero of Tyria. But then I was replaying LWs2 and had thoughts. I thought what if Nia joined the Vigil to escape Anise's clutches. What if they wanted to get Nia into Shining Blade and she didn't want that? I had that storyline for some time but I don;'t like the person this makes Nia. She would not survive the dragon war with that motivation. So...I'm reworking her again when it comes to her role as a Pact soldier and Part-Time Commander.
Freya Wyldwolf
Freya has a long story. She started off as Freya Riverblade. Which is funny because I played hammer on her. Reasons? It was her father's hammer. Her father "left for a hunt and never came back" (as in he "died or something". again). Her mother was bitter, tried to get her life back together but with a wrong person and freya got a half sister. Her mother hated that child because we need that plot (insert eyeroll here pls) and Freya got her motivation to join the Vigil (previously she was a Whispers agent but only because I liked Tybalt ok).
But scratch all that. Freya now has a twin, her name is Wyldwolf, and her half sister was not neglected. Her mother was not the mother of the year but she tried. Freya comes from a long line of OG Wolf followers, so theres always "wolf" in the second name of her family. She is from Cragstead and is besties with Braham.
Also in IBS she killed a corrupted Spirit of the Forest (cough reworked boneskinner cough) and her name changed to Freya Spiritkiller, she did not take it well and is currently MIA.
....
There's also Yvrell but I'm not vibing with it right now also this post is super long and i've been typing it for hours so.
Yeah.
Thanks for reading, Bye. Or something. Love you.

Do you think if the origins coup didn’t happen that your aeducan would be better or worse then bhelen, harrowmont, or trian as the queen
love this question ty... it's a bit tricky with daera because she never actually planned on becoming queen of orzammar -- she's pretty uninterested in politics and always felt pretty content with the idea of focusing her energy on her position as commander under whichever of her brothers ended up on the throne. she'd play the game to undermine and fuck with them a bit as sibling antics and because you need to if you're going to last, but bhelen moved against her more because he knew that she would turn against him once she realized he committed fratricide and less because he thought she would actually contend for the throne. she could have! the assembly liked her! but the assembly liked her because she was naturally charismatic and an incredibly promising warrior, and being good with a sword and at parties doesn't translate to legitimate political ability.
if she ended up in some sort of designated survivor situation where her father and brothers were all killed then i think she'd be ??? okay?????? as queen? the biggest problem would be that she'd be deeply uninterested in it, and i imagine she would end up pushing a lot of the day-to-day decision-making onto her advisors (who in this case would probably be harrowmont so. lol.) when she actually did get involved, i think she would do Fine but not particularly challenge the system in any way. for reference, like, in her origin she told that noble guy to stop harassing the scholar guy (agkjhag its been a year since I've played the aeducan origin can you tell), but also told the scholar guy to keep the false history in the shaperate. no use harassing someone just doing his job, but it's not use rocking the boat when it threatens a noble house's pride. she was open to the idea of restoring titles to some surfacers for the benefit of orzammar, but amended her position to "yeah we should respect the surfacers or whatever but they gave up their right to be here" as soon as she learned there would be political ramifications she didn't like. she's not as much of a strict traditionalist as harrowmont would be, and is pretty open to the idea of the casteless being like, people, but i think making any actual moves to reform or push back on reform would depend very heavily on whether her allies thought it was a good move strategically
the one place i do think she'd do a very good job and maybe lead to some legitimate change for orzammar is in the military. i imagine that's where she would turn her actual sights to basically immediately (and probably spent a lot of her reign off the throne leading expeditions in the deep roads and leave the at home ruling to whoever she got into a political marriage with. kind of cailan-esque. wait.) from there i don't think it would take her too long to realize how deeply fucked orzammar really is in their current position (which i don't think she thought of particularly deeply before being put into a commander position). from that perspective, i can see her taking a much more aggressive approach to the darkspawn, and eventually coming to some of the same conclusions bhelen did about training non-warrior caste soldiers, making a concentrated effort to retake abandoned thaigs, and, maybe even opening up more with the surface for the sake of getting reinforcements, all of which i can see having a positive effects on orzammar outside of just their survival.
so i guess i would say, probably better than harrowmont and hmm, it's tough to compare her to bhelen. less of a reformer but also less likely to vindictively execute you. honestly have not thought much about trian as a ruler so I'm not sure on that! i want to say she would be better because trian seems so petty and shitty but lbr how you act with your shitty siblings does not constitute what kind of king you would be.. need to think more on that

11, 12, aaand 34? for Oogway! `v` i also wrote down 48 and 49 while skimming through the meme but i don't remember what they are now so uh. ig those as well, if it's not Too Much. no problems in that case
honest favorite character asks
11. How did you “fall in love” with this character?
i joke that i started doing it out of spite. the real answer was probably around kfp3 where they implied that oogway was a warlord.
like, prior to that he was not on my radar. but once the movie implied a whiff of moral complexity and the idea of how he changed over a timespan that would be difficult to comprehend for most people he got up to blorbo tier.
12. If you could write effortlessly and as much as you wanted, what story (s) would you write for this character?
besides the next part of the generationswap au fic?
really i only have one. but its one big one that highlights oogway's entire journey. and i do mean all of it (at least the most important parts). oogway has a lot of potential to me since he's lived through so much and there's a lot of vectors that it can be tackled (of which i've tackled in one off doodles ages ago).
there's the obvious one of public opinion having changed a lot from the implication that he was feared along kai to the wise protector of present day. but also its funny just on an in-universe historical level. like the idea of a historian asking oogway about a point in time and he has a niche opinion about it that sends scholars into a frenzy is so so funny.
34. Does this character inspire you with little things in your daily life?
ironically no, lol. oogway is too like. idealized and high up that it feels strange to see him as specifically aspirational. like in general, yes, but there are other blorbos that speak to me in certain specificities he cannot on account that oogway has most of his shit together.
48. What’s your favorite physical/design feature for this character?
the curve of the lip of his shell and the way it opens up. its so shape. i love it but also hate drawing it because i always mess up the way it subtly curves.
Tumblr media
sidebar but i think its lowkey a bit funny how the designers committed to making oogway a galapagos tortoise, considering that a majority of the cast at the time of kfp1 were in the area.
this is a less notable feature now that there have been more characters whose species implies they came from far off too (and there's also the spinoffs that mention other societies in the kfp universe). but still,
49. What’s your favorite personality trait in this character?
mostly the idea that he's such a 'big picture' thinker that he doesn't get how it comes off to to other people. i've made a whole post about it as it relates in secrets of the masters, lol

What is Paimon? | Continuation
A continuation of my Paimon post which I turned into a Paimon video that was a bit more fleshed out.
Post:
[HERE]
Video:
youtube
So, as a continuation of this entire idea, I wanted to address Paimon's design.
New lore bits have made this theory all the more possible, as well as added details that could make her character make more sense.
After some digging, I managed to finally find where the Traveler fished Paimon out of the sea. It's Guyun Stone Forest, amidst that quadruple Ruin Guard death trap. Anyway, the only difference is the stone the Traveler was sitting on is gone if you go there now.
I had a feeling this was around the location because if it indeed was, that would make the surrounding landscape an interesting choice. And there is no way for me to believe MHY wouldn't do things deliberately considering all the sprinkles of lore they put in from the game's release(Thunderbird lore being in 1.0, anyone?).
youtube
This happens to be amidst some interesting ruins...
Allow me to remind everyone of the Ancient Ruins that seem to exist in every nation so far. The same found in Dragonspine, which means they're older than Khaenri'ah, but younger than the Ancient One-World Civilization Enkanomiya was a part of. We can find these ruins everywhere and I even went to the trouble of locating each individual example I could find personally, in a playlist on YouTube.
These locations include the Golden Apple Archepelago(the Harr Islands - that used to be part of Mondstadt before Venti chopped the mountain up and sent the remains flying into the ocean), beneath Tsurumi Island in Inazuma which was hit with a Divine Nail and has an Irminsul Branch growing nearby, Dragonspine(Sal Vindagnyr prior to Durin's 'death'), which was hit with a Divine Nail and has an Irminsul Branch growing nearby, all over Liyue, and even Sumeru where only one location with these ruins are considered Khaenri'ahn by Sumeru scholars, but none of the others are...
Now, being in Guyun Stone Forest, right beside the remains of this ancient civilization's remains, is a fascinating place for Paimon to be discovered. If the shade of the stone wasn't obvious enough, nor the shape of the pillars, I went to great lengths to prove that each video in that playlist contained parts of the same ruins in different nations, by having their one defining design there.
Tumblr media
A triquetra.
Tumblr media
youtube
On each archway is a triquetra. A 'triangular figure composed of three interlaced arcs, or (equivalently) three overlapping vesicae piscis lens shapes.'
A triquetra is often considered to represent Life, Death, and Rebirth in various cultures. OR the Mind, Body, and Spirit OR Earth, Sea, and Sky OR Past, Present, and Future etc... A lot of these beliefs overlap in many religions all around the world. But it's just so interesting that the mark on Paimon's stomach is the same kind of mark on all these ruins around the world.
However, an upside triquetra is supposed to be taken in the exact opposite of the original order. It can mean Rebellion against Traditional Beliefs to Christians. Transformation & Change to certain 'Pagan' beliefs. In Alchemy is represents the Union of Opposites. It could also be a Balance between the Physical and Spiritual.
The triquetra is found on things like: Mora, Domain Entrances, Welkin Moon, Genesis Crystals, Shop Bundles, the Locked Spiral Abyss Entrance, and the World Quest symbol.
This special triquetra on the remains of these ruins, is upside down like Paimon's. However, other places that contain this same architecture of the ancient civilization, are boss arenas. Many Hypostases and other World Bosses share the same surrounding pillars and artwork. Except they seem to have a Solomon's Knot at the center of each trial ground. And that shape is not only present at the top of domain entrances but is also found on some of those ancient civilization's archways. Specially, those found on Tsurumi Island and Dragonspine, which are places we know had people who lived there before the Divine Nails fell and destroyed the Ley Lines and the environment.
MHY loves their 3s, huh? And their 4s.
As of 4.2's lore, we have learned that the Narzissenkreuz Ordo hypothesized that the world lives through samsara cycles. This mirrors something Nahida said back in 3.0's Archon Quest Act 2. She suggested that the whole world could be a lie and that everything is just one massive Sabzeruz Festival we're all repeating without knowing(this happened when asking if the Traveler is sure Tomorrow will come, or if Today will be followed by Yesterday).
It has been suggested that there have been 3 samsaras. Hyperborea, Natlantean, and Rumeria. And that the player is experiencing the 4th Samsara of the World, Khraun-Arya. The player, the Traveler, is the 4th Descender, and it has been confirmed that the 3rd Descender is dead, and their remains have been separated into the Gnoses.
Hyperborea is described in the Weapon: Ballad of the Fjords
Natlantean might be described in the Weapon: Talking Stick
Reading these notes didn't feel like mere assumptions to me, because I remember a certain artifact set that's been in the game forever. One that only has Circlets and can never go above 4*.
Yes! The Prayers Set!
Prayers to Springtime: Tiara of Frost
Tumblr media
They say that, The line of chief priests have always seen this same sight as their days draw to an end: A mountain of crowns in a secret place, beneath a withered tree— —each one hiding a lifetime of secrets kept. Each retiring chief priest offers up their crown of flawless white branches to this world. Every mighty and ancient city, and every austere place of sacrifice must one day return to profundity in the earth. All prosperity must someday end. But this does not mean that nothing is eternal. At the end of a cycle, the earth shall be renewed. Thus eternity is cyclical. The search for truth is a product of prosperity, and not the seed that plants it. They say that, Once upon a time, the people of the land could hear revelations from Celestia directly. The envoys of the gods walked among benighted humanity then. In those days, life was weak, and the earth was blanketed in unending ice.
Prayers for Illumination: Tiara of Flame
Tumblr media
They say that, Once upon a time, the people of the land could hear revelations from the heavens directly. The envoys of the gods walked among benighted humanity then. The eternal ice had just begun to thaw, and the first fires were still new. It was a time of great prosperity, when all was left in the hands of such heavenly revelations. The envoys of heaven said that the world would soon enter a new and brighter age. This was predestined, that future immutable. But would a day come when such wonderful times might come to an end? To this question the envoys gave no answer. so, the people chose from among them a chief priest, And adorning his head with a crown of white branches, they sent him out into the deep places of the world, To antediluvian ruins and long-buried altars of sacrifice, to seek answers and enlightenment…
Prayers for Destiny: Tiara of Torrents
Tumblr media
They say that, Once upon a time, the people of the land could hear revelations from the heavens directly. Then, the envoys of the gods would walk among benighted humanity, and the ancient flames were extinguished amidst the first falling rains. It was a prosperous time, a period of bountiful harvest. Then the earth was blessed and ruled by heaven, and the elemental flows were smooth and well-ordered. A hundred years of bounty were written in the stars, and none could change this divine law. But what of the time after, a hundred, a thousand years from now? Would they have famine where they had plenty, poverty where once were riches? Would their altars and palaces become one with the soil, with only that silver-white tree for company? The heavenly envoys, who ever spoke what they knew, were silent. So to understand this doom, The chief priest, head crowned with white branches, would delve into the deep places of the world…
Prayers for Wisdom: Tiara of Thunder
Tumblr media
They say that, Once upon a time, the people of the land could hear revelations from the heavens directly. Then, the envoys of the gods would walk among benighted humanity, and the waters ran dry as thunder first pierced the skies. People enjoyed untold wisdom, and that wisdom was their boon. Their prosperity brought pride and ambition, and the mind to question. So they questioned the heavens' authority, and schemed to enter the garden of gods. And though they had promised to the people divine love, prosperity and wisdom, the envoys of heaven were angry. For to question eternity was forbidden, For earth to challenge sky, inexpiable. So the chief priest who wore the white-branched crown went forth to appease the divine envoys, And into the deep places he went, seeking the hidden wisdom of the silver tree in the ancient capitol…
It should be noted that these Circlets are only dropped by their respective elemental Hypostases and Regisvines, Abyss Bosses, Khaenri'ahn-made Bosses, Elemental Manifestations, and Vishap Bosses.
The Circlets are also made from the branches of Irminsul.
In order, these describe the 4 Samsara Cycles of the world. Khaenri'ah being the present one, full of humans who rose up against the gods and dared to think of themselves as better for managing just fine without the help of any gods.
3s and 4s play a big role in Genshin.
Domains bearing both triquetras as well as Solomon's Knots is insane to think about. Solomon's Knot can mean Immortality, Lovers, Faith, Beauty, and Eternity depending on the culture you choose to draw inspiration from.
Emphasis on the No. 4 is made in other places too.
On Tsurumi Island, the Traveler meets a ghost NPC named Ruu, who was a sacrifice in a ritual to try and appease what his village believed to be a bird god. In truth, the Thunderbird in question didn't care about the humans or their feelings, and only acted out when Ruu, the little boy she befriended, was sacrificed in her name because the chief and elders assumed her speaking to him meant she wanted him as an offering. The Thunderbird destroys the island and curses them to relive their day of destruction for all time until Ruu is able to fulfil a promise to sing to her.
Ruu enlists the Traveler's help, unaware of the truth behind why everything keeps going wrong no matter how many times he's sacrificed.
It takes the Traveler 4 tries to get it right. 3 attempts fail to help Ruu with his quest, and the 4th was finally the success. Ruu even said he believes in The Rule of Four. "...you need to do things thrice in order to get a result. For example, they say that 'good omens must occur three times for good fortune to truly descend'… Same for bad omens. They also say that 'you must forge past obstacles three times to succeed on the fourth'."
So, if this is the 4th Samsara, and the Traveler is the 4th Descender who supposedly has a Will to Change the World, then is it possible that Paimon could be a Tulpa fashioned from the knowledge left behind by the former Samsara?
That perhaps, Paimon is a remnant of a failed attempt at breaking the Samsara and was sent to the Traveler when they got desperate for help, to start them on the path to uncovering the 'truth of this world' and help them find the right answers and make the right decisions. That could be why she appeared out of nowhere in Guyun Ston Forest, right beside the remains of a civilization she shares symbolism with.
Anyway, this is still just a theory. I could be blowing smoke out of my ass, but it was fun to make this.

Second Part, Secret Summer Paradise Event
Last time I discussed the content of the first quest in the event. Today I’m doing the second part.
So first we learn that Idyia also has bad memories of the desert. If we consider the three brothers (and later introduced Maymunah, Spantamad scholar, who investigated laylines in the dessert, something happened and she accidentally landed in the bottle) that is a reoccurring theme. She describes her memories of the desert, like wading through mud, which is curious, cause the desert normally is too dry for really muddy places, though it might hint at her being stuck in the sand, maybe quicksand, or just a metaphor that her memories aren’t easy to access, only the feeling of bad.
Now we meet Maymunah, just like the brothers, she thought Lidyia would be curled up somewhere crying at the moment, instead of fixing things. That characterisation, being so consistent, word for word, makes me suspicious, cause normally people act at least a bit differently around different people, so Lidyia might intentionally act like that.
Another thing I have talked about already last time is the age of the characters, or the time they’ve been in the bottle. Maymunah gets compared to Cyno, but when asked said she doesn’t know him. As a scholar from the academia though, she should (like everyone there) know of the General Mahamatra Cyno, cause if you do scientific misconduct, he’s the one to get you. That she doesn’t know him tells us that she’s been in the bottle for a while already, before Cyno’s time.
Then the whole thing happens where we restore the crystal light, and I’ve noticed that even after we restored it, that part of the domain stays in darkness the whole time. Of course it might be that it’s because that part deals with the light projectors and is generally decorated with pretty lights, so it might just be an aesthetic thing, but still, maybe there’s more to it.
While in the tent, we find the Lawrence cousin, who did have one component of the machine, but also seems to have changed on his way through Liyue and Sumeru, that I don’t get why he’d still steal it. Maybe he just began to think on his journey and stealing the component and feeling the consequence actually made him change, but I feel like we’re still missing the whole picture.
Lidyia takes the cousin outside while we were exploring the tent, but while he seemed week in the tent, he still looked pretty ok, while outside, he was confused, couldn’t remember parts of what happened in the tent, even though he was pretty lucid at that time, and was terrified out of his mind because of some massive shadow in the tent, Lidyia meanwhile brushed this of and said it’s side effects of his treatment (makes you wonder what’s that treatment)
What’s worth noting is the subtle nod towards the Samsara festival, when we say we’ve seen such a candy box too many times. It’s interesting that one of the original components is a candy box, it fits with the candy theme, also because the lights apparently emit a candy like smell?
Inside the tent we also get to know more about Maymunah, her dad worked at the bazaar, which is why she designed the place like a festival, but her parents pushed her towards academics, and she yielded, never truly being happy. It’s the opposite of Eula, who rejected her parents ideas for her, while she shares similarities with Collei, who helps her overcome some of her insecurities. This characters working out perfectly, before already with Klee’s childlike behaviour (and a stern word from Kaeya) helping the brothers come together again, of course makes sense from the outside. If you wanna tell a story, you want your characters to overcome difficulties, and that is the easiest with supporting characters. But from an in story perspective, it’s suspicious. If I remember correctly, Lidyia put us in groups and told us where to go. She might’ve had some inside knowledge to figure out who to best put where.
It doesn’t help that Kokomi doesn’t completely trust her. She’s in the domain, because a watatsumi relic has been located in the domain, I’m guessing a hydro related one, and she’s searching for it. She thinks Lidyia is hiding something, because, among other things, she stayed away for longer periods of time. Lidyia has murmured at one point that just like Collei, she has high expectations of herself, and thus gets nervous, I’m wondering, what those expectations are for.
Kokomi also mentioned that before the flip, the domain wasn’t anything like this, but she didn’t elaborate. It makes you wonder, how different? Not those sweets everywhere, not the carnival theme? Not the rainforest feel? I hope we’ll get answers about this.
The last little thing is that Lidyia has an cooking stove and oven, and Eula complained that she should have told them earlier, so does the domain only have those two cooking appliances, and do the people here actually need food?
With these parting questions, will I end todays post. You’ll hopefully hear from me soon, and I’ll see if I can link the first part at some point.
